Some designs for my Tolkien/Snow White crossover, Glossuiel and the Seven Dwarves! This time I've included the Huntsman, the Evil Queen, and the Prince XD Technically redesigns for my old Glossuiel painting!

I drew these back in June 2023 but never got around to posting them because I thought I'd include some actual paintings to go alongside the designs :''') But I never finished those, and this has been sitting in my drafts for a while, so I've decided to just post it (especially since there are more Snow White live-actions coming out eventually).

For Glossuiel, the two designs I have for her include a dress the Dwarves made for her (left) and her Sindarin dress (right)! And as you can see, I've reused her Disney colours; same goes for the Evil Queen and the Prince. For the Dwarves, I redid their colours (mostly; the red one is still Grumpy hahaa); I also pulled a Tolkien and took their names from the Dvergatal in the Poetic Edda.

Speaking of names, the Evil Queen is also known as Grimhild, meaning "masked battle," so I had it loosely translated to Sindarin as Dagorwen (battle-maiden). The Prince's name is apparently Florian, so it's now Lothon (using Sindarin "loth" for flower). And the Huntsman's name is just a mix of name elements from the House of Beor since most of them don't have any name meanings recorded loll

With nefarious intent, the foursome observed the procession of creatures below them. Meadow and Dique kept eclectic company. Beside them sat an altogether different creature. He appeared as a dragonfly, which indeed he was. Few dragonflies owned names, though this one called himself Herald, in deference to his beloved trumpet, which lay on the grass beside him. Upon meeting the dragonfly, Meadow misheard the name as Harold - and the altered moniker stuck. Harold did not drink. Instead, he stood, stretching his insectile legs, revealing himself as the tallest of the group. "Midnight is not far off", observed the dragonfly. His eyes darted about, taking in the new moon, the surrounding forest and the steady stream of creatures entering the space from every direction. [...]

"What about you, Mustapha? Need a drink?" The fourth companion absorbed their exchange in silence, waving the bottle away with a shake of his head. Mustapha sat with long legs drawn up, chin resting on his knees. From beneath a dark curtain of hair, his pensive gaze fell upon the growing assembly. Mustapha's summons, the previous day, brought the group to this glade, deep in the forest of Petrichor. A grand heist required trustworthy co-conspirators.

This year I celebrate with an illustration that was kindly commissioned me by Craig Mulhall, the author of the novel "The King of Rhye" a Fantasy book based on Queen's songs and lore 🥰 I feel honored and I'm grateful that Craig gave me such freedom for this commission, it's been a lot of fun! I'm still halfway through the book, so -no spoilers!- I wanted to depict its very beginning, with Mustapha (Freddie) together with his friends: the pixies Dique (John) and Meadow (Roger) and the Dragonfly Trumpeter, Harold (Brian), all ready to start their mischievous plan! 😌💕 I hope you'll like this as well and don't forget to check out The King of Rhye and its sequel Metropolis, that just came out!

Hello! I hope you're doing well:)) I wanted to ask if you're going to continue the Rosalia AU and also what the general idea behind it is

Haha so the Rosalia AU is a really old AU I had where the Witch Queen ended up wanting a back up/heir to her throne in case the war went bad. For extra angst points, that child is from Alain and he had no clue about it, but Helena did.

Rosalia (named by the orphange she was raised in) was sent into another dimension so time antics could have her grow up faster to take up the throne, but three years after the Witch Queen's death, classic lightning strike, she's brought back at ~12 years old.

Helena is the only one who knew so Alain's completely blindsided by the news he has a 12 year old daughter out of nowhere and mostly avoids her, repressing every possible feeling about it. Helena tries to keep up some illusion of Rosalia being a lost fantasy princess but the more Rosalia asks questions and learns about the castle, the less sure she wants to inherit anything from the Witch Queen.

Naturally, Magnus, Jinhai, and Lennox cannot be arsed to deal with a 12 year old girl, and they know they do not have the time to wait for her to grow up into the second Witch Queen. Lennox suggests instead using Rosalia's blood to "heal" the Witch Queen from death. Knowing that would kill her, Alain, noting a hidden patrol from August on the edge of their borders, smuggles Rosalia out to him.

The rest of the story would then be Rosalia adjusting to living with Reiner and the retainers while the generals try to use her to ressurect the Witch Queen. It's a fun story to think about because wow Alain is not ready to be a dad and the Witch Queen's relationships are truly terrible.

I have a lot more writing of this AU, and it'd be fun to implement more. It's just a matter of translating the 3rd person prose to a 1st person script.

@fantasy-angelo Character designs??? For Yue’s parents???? You’re designing Yue’s entire family with your own hands omg. And you made Sangshen so pretty! I can see some subtle Macaque in some of her features. I see that she glamoured away her six ears like he usually does too! Also, Yishan - FFM’s rancid monkey who loves his wife. You made him so handsome and cold, just as I imagined him! The designs of his facial markings are on point too! And lol him simping over his wife at the corner. Yue certainly got her looks from her bio parents!

The details in their hairstyles and clothing are amazing! I don’t know how you manage to do this every time! Thanks for drawing this out in the midst of your art fight!

Thinking about Raised in Amphibia AU and how the girls get married when they're still teenagers, and I get that it might be controversial but I actually really like the fantasy vibes that comes with characters getting married so young, it helps to make the world feel more old timesey and medieval and culturally alien, like, marrying at 16 sounds insane to most people nowadays but in fantasy frog land Sprig and Maddie were engaged by their guardians at age 10 so I think it not only makes perfect sense for Marcy and Sasha to get engaged for political reasons at 14 and then get married at 16 - dragging Anne along with them - but also... something something kids forced to grow up to fast, something something fantasy politics, and these three characters having such a different way of seeing love and relationships than we do in the real world, that when Anne goes back to Earth and meets her biological parents for the first time, she has no idea how to tell them that, at age 23, she's been married for 7 years and has two wives.
