i Need background noise to fall asleep and normally whatever appliances are running across the room + putting on a sleep story podcast does the trick but last night it didn't. so i put on my cobra starship playlist instead and was out like a light within two and a half songs. why is my brain like this

Trying to branch out and find new music to listen to is so hard because I'm embarrassed to be heard listening to literally anything, like if anyone in my house knew I listened to anything other than Taylor Swift I'd drop dead.

#which is so stupid because they all know #yellowcard is literally the household favorite they all know I listen to them because we all do #my dad's favorite female artist of all time is alison krauss and he literally got me into her he knows I love her #my entire family knows and ACTIVELY supports the fact that I adore dolly parton I was literally in the 0.001% of her listeners in 2020 #I've loved rascal flatts since grade school. I'm super into phoebe bridgers now. Last all time low concert was 5.5 years ago: absolutely not. that's literally impossible. that's like half a lifetime, the Fuck?!

#okay but hear me out #10 years ago i was in school. completely different part of my life than now. it feels 'accurate' to be a decade old #atl being over 5 years ago just hits with so much more force #because (sorry in advance) it really does almost feel like nothing changed at all since then #same university. even same study program. it feels so recent in my memory despite me knowing it was ages ago #but with corona it's even worse #because i still haven't registered it's been THREE fucking years and these 3 years still don't seem real #so idk it kinda feels like these years shouldn't be included in these 5.5 years #sorry #having an existential crisis over this
