Jay being a little weird because apparently Jon’s into that

Laughing in vindication right now because the exact stuff that made people think Jay’s evil or weird is EXACTLY why Jon loves him. He likes his men fucking weird because Jon too is a weirdo.

the telenovela-esque drama of it all... jon goes have to have a 35-minute emotional affair with the alternate version of his boyfriend, only for his alternate version bestie to kidnap his alternate version boyfriend, who then outs him to his alternate version father who is seriously paranoid and won't hesitate to kill. literally why is taylor writing any main line comics. he should be feeding us in the elseworlds. this shit is so atrocious but so fucking hilarious.

A brief analysis of aosjk #6 spoilers ahead!!
The final issue of aosjk was far from perfect in my opinion but it wasn’t as bad as everyone’s making it out to be.
There’s definitely some pacing issues but that always comes with minis especially when they’re 6 issues long. The action feels a bit rushed and I do think that a little more time should have been spent on Jon’s fights with the separate justice league members. Or at least on his fight with Diana. Or alternatively we should have seen Jon release Bruce and Harley, maybe even freeing them in front of Clark because it’s that sense of action I believe the issue is missing.
Another option is to have a fight between Jon and Clark where Clark is always on the attack and Jon has to counter. I think that would have worked well to metaphorically emphasise their differences.
However, where people complain about the hug I’m starting to understand it a lot more. I believe looking at it from a narrative pov it’s an interesting contrast to the hug we see in soke. I also think it does make sense for Jon to do and that people are miss reading the intention behind it. The hug isn’t Jon showing sympathy or forgiveness or love, it’s a tactical move. Everything he does in that scene is a tactical move because giving Clark what he wants, letting Clark see his wife again (in some sense) and letting him hold his child, is what gets him to step back even for a few seconds. It’s so obvious that the hug is a distraction technique.
Jon doesn’t want to give Clark the hug and he doesn’t forgive him because that’s not his place. What he does is target Clark emotionally because he does not believe he would win a fight against him (he’s seen this Clark rip apart ultraman with his bare hands… also he’s probably aware of the collateral a fight between them would cause).
The thing is Jon is in a very unique position of being Clark in injustice’s motivation. So what he does is give Clark the thing he’s longed for and then tears it away from him. He shows Clark his and Lois’ disapproval of what Clark’s done for them, targeting his biggest weakness. What would have worked best is if he was then able to restrain Clark with kryptonite and leave him for the people of that world to deal with.
Another thing I’d like to briefly address is Jon’s seemingly lack of emotion through the issue. I think this is very reflective of his emotional state and how drained he is. I don’t think we have an exact time frame for these events but they do occur in quick succession and we’ve barely seen Jon rest since Ultraman is killed so he is likely extremely tired physically and especially emotionally. Which I think is interesting and can be seen as an extension of his attitude we’ve seen in SoKE #5 where he prioritises being superman and saving people over his own well being.
Also I’m annoyed we never got a reappearance of Val-Zod and Red Tornado and hope at some point that plot thread is resolved because I’m not a fan of how they just got forgotten.
I do hope we get another solo for Jon in the future but we will have to see.

I’ve been thinking about what would happen if Jay had died in a similar situation to how Lois died in injustice, and how his reaction would compare to Clark’s and how they would differ
I think the only thing that would be the same would be that Jon would also probably kill the person who caused Jay’s death. He has a very bad temper at times that causes him to act irrationally and tends to need someone to guide him but I don’t think anyone could stop him in that moment. But I think the difference comes in to play after they’ve killed the murderer. Where Clark became a husk of himself acting based mostly on paranoia and fear to protect what he cares about even if that meant doing morally horrible things, I think Jon would just fall apart and leave. I don’t think he could mentally handle that and I feel like he wouldn’t want people to see him like that as well as question himself and worry for their safety. Finding the only answer in running away and avoiding the issue like how he said he wanted to take Aquaman up on his offer and live in Atlantis when he was framed for murder. I like that Jon has Clark’s insane level of loyalty so I think regardless of if I’m wrong on this specific thought Jon to me will always have an extreme reaction that he most likely wouldn’t be able to come back from similarly to Clark, at least not without an extreme amount of effort.
If you disagree feel free to comment what you think Jon would do, I’m curious to hear other opinions

I did a little bit of research on Gossmer and how the words different meanings could relate to Jay and here are some findings:
1. Gossamer is commonly used to describe things as being delicate and thin (often fabrics, relating to other definitions of the word). This can relate to Jay’s intangibility.
2. Gossamer is a cobweb or type of spider silk which again can refer to Jay’s intangibility in a similar way to the definition of being delicate. It could also relate to Jay’s operation with The Truth and his web of intelligence and news in the organisation.
3. In extension of cobwebs gossamer is often used to describe how cobwebs move through the wind/ air. Which could link to Jay’s newer ability to fly.
4. Gossamer-winged butterfly is another word for the lyceanidae a butterfly or moth who’s markings are similar to the bubbles seen on Jay’s suit and in his body when he goes intangible. Also can link to his ability to fly - gossmer-winged butterflies are swift flyers. They are also commonly blue like the Gossamer suit.

5 (extra). Gossamer comes from the word Gossumer, an old English and Scottish term directly translating to goose summer which is a period of time in November where the weather was warm like the summer and geese were often eaten. It is also the time of year where cobwebs would be found hence it becoming a word used for cobwebs. None of this relates to Jay but I head canon him as being born in November now.
