Do I fully understand what that title means? No. Is this a fight I would actually win with anyone on this site? It depends. Is it a fight I want to have? Why not? Might as well use this blog to spread some healthy chaos. I will probably post about chaos, fandoms, marginalized communities, other interests of mine, and hopefully plenty of dragons.About Me: they/them pronouns, genderfluid/nonbinary/fluidflux, abrosexual/abroromantic, aro-spec/ace-spec, disabled (ADHD, Autism, System, Mobility Aid User, etc.), Jewish, engineering major/theatre minor (interested in engineering for entertainment), figure skater, chaotic neutral, nerdPlease let me know if I accidently post something offensive/uncomfortable. Also, feel free to ask me questions about anything with my identities. Misconceptions cannot be cleared without communication.[ID for header and avatar (same image): a redish-brown dragon with scales roughly drawn on top of a photo of a hand making a "mouth" shape. hello again (bill clinton limewire voice) my fellow americans
There are a few states that actually have Shield/Refuge laws designed to help trans people fleeing from trans-unsafe states, which also guarantee trans folks access to healthcare. These states are:
California
Colorado
Illinois
Oregon
Vermont
Washington
Minnesota
New Mexico
Maine
Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Connecticut
Washington D.C.
Additionally, some states have "trans sanctuary" executive orders signifying safety for trans folks seeking healthcare. These states are:
Maryland
New Jersey
New York
Living as a resident in these states means you are protected by state's rights and state government to continue or begin receiving trans healthcare. These laws have been codified in their states so everything has been a-ok'd by their state governments.
Stay alive. You got this. I love you.

I rambled about this in tags on another post but I can’t emphasize enough how only focusing on large-scale issues WILL lead to hopelessness & burnout. Activism must include small-scale, achievable works. If you don’t have something you can get your hands around and look at directly, despair will eat you alive.

akechi's rank 3 is the gift that keeps giving because the intro before it starts confirms that:
akechi has an in-universe fandom
said fandom pays close attention to his whereabouts, who he hangs out with, etc.
akechi monitors what's being said about him online
and since he by his own admission doesn't really have any other close friends, this means that as his confidant progresses, his fanbase is undoubtedly like "who is this mysterious glasses guy who keeps hanging out with akechi? why are they hitting up popular date spots?”
and like, internet gonna internet. half his fanbase thinks they're dating. another faction ships him with the leader of the phantom thieves. akechi watches this go down while experiencing the full spectrum of human emotion. someone says ren looks kind of generic and akechi is seconds from penning a defensive response on his burner account before he's like "what the fuck am i even doing" and clears 4 floors of mementos in one go to cope.

writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.

some positives:
Seven states voted to protect abortion rights, including the deeply red state of Missouri
Sarah McBride became the first openly trans woman elected to congress
Mark Robinson, the man who called himself a "Black N*zi" will not be governor of North Carolina
Angela Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester become the first duo of black women senators ever in the history of the senate (sadgressive but good for their constituents)
Kentucky voted to protect public education!

hey everyone! back up your works on ao3, because project 2025 is probably going into effect. porn will be illegal.
BACK IT UP OFFLINE. the cloud will not save you here.
also, make sure you're current on your vaccines. and that all your ID and documents are up to date. Renew that passport.
because the fda, cdc, and state department are about to go to hell, too.
how are we even in this position again? insanity. pure insanity. but protect yourself, and be ready to protect your vulnerable loved ones. shit is about to get real bad.

If I have to see one more “we survived him before we can do it again” post I’m going to scream.
So many people didn’t. So many more people are going to die. Women are going to bleed out in parking lots because doctors are scared to give them the abortion they need. Migrates are going to die in detention centers. Kids are going to have their parents ripped away in mass deportations. Potentially millions of people are going to lose their healthcare.
Yes, we keep fighting, but don’t say we survived before. A lot of people didn’t.

'wah wah everywhere is falling to the right wing the whole world is doomed' literally like 6 months ago we were talking about how there was a trend in countries getting rid of their right wing governments. poland at the end of last year, france voted in a unified centre left/left alliance, even the UK finally got rid of the tories after 15 years (right wing splitting be damned, it still happened). outside of europe, bangladesh removed a dictator in like 2 seconds, india may have reelected their Evil Guy but on a DISTINCTLY reduced majority, theres been queer rights successes in thailand, with gay marriage set to be legal by 2025, and thereve been positive court cases on it in japan. and this is just stuff i vaguely remember hearing about. im sure theres more if you care to look for anything aside from more reasons to make yourself miserable
the US has a distinct effect on everyone, so this won't be fun for anyone (least of all its population. sorry guys), and there ARE a lot of people sliding into right wing extremism, but presenting this like its an unchallenged worldwide phenomenon is inaccurate, its damagingly bleak, and all it does is encourage despair and apathy. you DO have political power, and you shouldnt forget that just because of bad election results and the media's desperation to make you lose hope

It's OK if you’re not OK right now. I’m certainly not. Mothman isn’t. We’re devastated. There’s a hollow crater in my chest where my heart ought to be. I’m sick with worry. But I can’t let it consume me. So we’re going to allow ourselves to grieve and then find actionable ways to counter what lies ahead.
That will look different for everyone, but one thing that will be universally required in the days and years ahead is compassion and an unshakable commitment to kindness.
We will help each other through this. We will find ways to help other people. We will protect the people we love and even those we don’t to the best of our abilities. Because that’s the only option we have.
We will do it angry, we will do it sad, we will do it terrified. But we will do it.
Please be gentle with yourself. Please don’t do anything to harm yourself. The world needs your light. It needs your anger and your hope. It needs you.

Okay, I kept seeing some random panicked reactions so I broke my own rule and did a search to see what percentages are actually being officially reported on, and yeah, we’re getting into higher reported numbers in states, and so I understand why so many people are panicking.
But, and this is important:
There are still votes being counted, and official counts in some places could take days to be finalized.
And this is actually good fucking news because, the places that take the longest to finish their counts and verify their counts, are the more densely populated areas… places that, with such high voter turnout, tend to go blue.
These votes all matter and help determine the actual results of the election.
And I know it’s hard to remember because presidential elections happen every four years, and by the time we get to the next one we remember how stressed we felt on election night and then however we felt when that result became official….
But four years ago, that election? Actually took DAYS before all votes were finalized and verified and the official result was released. And things kept going back and forth and back and forth in nauseatingly uncomfortable ways during those few days of counting and double counting and verifying all the votes — in person votes, mail in votes, every single vote. And in the most populated areas, some major key cities, votes kept being contested and they’d have to go through the same ballots again and again until they went through all the procedures to determine yes, these are the votes, and here are our numbers.
And this is all very very normal.
Yes, sometimes election results become known the same night… but it’s actually much more normal for us not to know for sure for a day or two or maybe up to a week later.
I would have to actually go double check online to confirm the number, but I do know it was at least a couple of days after Election Day before we knew the results in 2020… like, my hazy memories are that the absolute earliest we knew the presidential result was on Friday, because I remember how worried me and people I kept sharing worried messages with, were worried about what the count going into the weekend would do for our anxiety… but maybe the count did go into the weekend? I literally can’t remember.
But things kept looking different even hour by hour during those days where we didn’t have the final numbers, but things were initially so close when there were only those final percentage of votes left to be reported — those votes from the most populated areas — that it did just feel like the world might actually crush and crumble while waiting to see what would happen because how is it this close?
And then things shifted pretty quickly once votes were verified and those big cities started reporting, and things did keep looking up the more and more those final percentages of votes came in.
So, there’s literally still hope, folks. Unless in the time between when I did that search to see what percentages of votes were being reported, and as I’m finishing writing this somehow magically every vote everywhere has suddenly been verified and is in and I’m fucking wrong and we’re actually all fucked…
There could still be hope, okay?
Not knowing the actual final 100% votes counted and verified number tonight is the normal and expected outcome. And the closer we get to only having the most populous areas left to report, the more nauseating it’s going to feel to those of us for whom the outcome of this election hinges on those populous places coming through for us with high voter turnout which statistically gives us a rush of blue votes at the end of the process.
If you can, try and sleep tonight.
There’s a chance the votes won’t all be in tonight, in which case they’ll still be figuring things out in the morning anyway, and you’ll feel better for having slept.
And if things actually do get called in the middle of the night… cool, you can find out in the morning, and it’s the same result whether you slept or not, so you actually still deserve some sleep.
Keep breathing. Keep reminding yourself that until all the votes are in, we don’t know what all the votes actually say. And keep on hoping that things go to the way we need them to, okay?
Now go drink some water and take a break from reading or watching election results for at least a few minutes, okay?
