You and John are sitting in the living room, staring at the dog you picked up from the side of the road a few days ago, trying to come up with a name for him.  

Convincing your husband to let you keep the dog was a challenge.  It felt like you were debating with judge, jury, and executioner.  Stakes were high.  He was sitting across from you at the dining room table, leaning back in his chair, arms crossed.  His eyes were narrowed at you and his face was expressionless, giving nothing away as you plead your case. 

Somehow, you won. 

So now, here you both are, brainstorming names to replace “Puppy”.  You’re holding the dog in your arms on the couch and John is sitting across from you in his chair. 

“And where the hell did you come up with these names?” 

“I have a list.” 

“You have a list?” 

“I have a list,” you say, “of dog names and baby names.  Every girl does.” 

And then, for just a second, the room stills. 

“Baby names?” John asks. 

A shiver runs up the bottom of your spine and you sit up a little straighter.  You feel the air buzz and John’s heavy gaze on you. 

“Yeah,” you say, glancing at John and then back at the dog in your lap.  “But—Pooh Bear?” 

After a long second, he says, “No.”

“Georgie Banks.” 

“The actress?” 

“Wha— no, fucker, Georgie Banks from Mary Poppins.” 

“… I’ll consider it.  What else.” 

“Ja’Marcus.” 

“My love,” he says, leaning forward to put his elbows on his knees and clasp his hands together, looking at you seriously.  “What the fuck are you talking about.  It’s a dog.” 

“Tra’davious.” 

“I’m making a list,” he scoffs, sitting back again.  “Jesus.” 

“It’s a nice name!” you exclaim.  “What are you gonna name him, Scout?” 

He looks at you.  

You look at him. 

“No.”  Your face drops and you almost shudder.  “No, John, that’s not even funny.” 

“Oreo?”  The corner of his mouth twitches but he quickly steels himself. 

“Stop.”  You hold the dog close to your chest, horrified. 

“Rocky?” 

“No!” 

“Buddy?” 

“John.” 

“We could just call him Puppy.” 

“What is this, Bird Box?  When Sandra Bullock named her kids Boy and Girl?  We can’t just name the dog Dog.  We would sound like neglectful parents.” 

“Your friend has a dog named Cat,” John says. 

“And that gets confusing because she just got a cat.  I think she’ll have to rename Cat.  And by Cat I mean the dog.  Jesus,” you mutter, shaking your head, eyebrows furrowed.  What a mess that would be. 

“We could name him after your team…?” you say, the idea popping into your head.  Then, you frown.  “I’m not calling him Kyle, though.  That’s too human.  Ghost?  He is—you know.”  You rub over the dog’s mangey back gently.  “A little ghastly, still.” 

“Riley?” 

“Who’s Riley?” 

“No one.”

You eye him.  “Must be one of your other wives…” 

He ignores you.  “It would inflate their egos too much.  They’re already insufferable enough.  And,” he adds, “they don’t need another reason to suck up to you.” 

“They don’t suck up to me,” you say. 

“Sweetheart,” he says.  “They suck up to you.”

“Spike,” John repeats slowly. 

You nod.  “Spike.” 

You both focus on the dog. 

“I like Spike,” you say. 

“I like Spike, too.” 

You hum, considering this.  “Spike…”  You narrow your eyes and study the dog closely, holding him tighter in your hands. 

He yawns with a high-pitched whine and then hacks.  

“Jesus,” John mutters, shaking his head. 

“Better than Georgie, Banks, or Mackie?” 

“Yeah,” John says, “look at ‘im.  He’s a Spike.” 

“He’s such a Spike,” you muse.  “He’s gonna be huge, too.  I mean, look at his ears and paws–they’re already too big for him.  Shit, he’s probably gonna be 70 pounds or 30 kilos.” 

“We need to train him.” 

“Yeah.  I can hire a trainer?  Find one online.” 

“I could get a trainer from base.”

wrapping up season one before my life gets quite busy again (we'll see when the next one of these is posted heh)

-god, Tom is just so *nice.* making him a bigger factor is such a high point in this show

-crawley is portrayed so perfectly. honestly such an understated character but Ace Bhatti is perfect (also go Kyra telling him to shut up, iconic)

-KYRA YOU SON OF A BITCH STEALING THE CARD FROM CRAWLEY WAS GENIUS (another one of those scenes that really fits the books, vibe-wise)

-omg the washer?? SO CUTE I CANNOT

-i love yassen with every cell in my body but what an anticlimactic death scene for greif (society if we got the greif death pun). *however* yassen walking away from the car is ice cold and goes absolutely crazy

-biggest strength of this show vs the books is that we get to see things from multiple POVs instead of Alex's limited one

-love love love how Alex has such a good support system in this show

-the tone shift between the books and show is so interesting. the books are way darker imo which is crazy bc they were actually marketed towards children while the show skews older i think. like, we barely get the level of manipulation from Blunt in the show and the Julius Greif death and honestly clone fight were way toned down. just some observations i had throughout (i think by this point in the books, Alex had killed 2 people and set his clone on fire which is crazy)

(gonna put this under the cut at a certain point bc it got Long NKDNFKN)

SO. gage has grown up... knowing he was very much The Second Choice. gothel only has (steals in rapunzel's case, and gage wishes in his case, but i'm like 99% sure he's her biological son, to his chagrin) kids to keep them as possessions, so she does keep gage close. but she also always resented gage for not being rapunzel. she thought it'd make her feel better to have another kid, fill the void, but it doesn't, because he doesn't have anything to give her in return. well, besides being something she can keep. so she keeps him, but she lets him know he isn't his sister and he'll never be his sister. she draws up any comparison she can between them - looks, personality, ability, whatever. just to remind him he's less-than, and because he's inherently less valuable, he has a little more slack. he has to leave his tower to attend school, and when gothel leaves on business, he can sneak out and come and go as he pleases (as long as he's back before she is), which is more than rapunzel ever got. sure, he has to find his own way down, but he can still leave. bc (at least to him) his mother cares less. yes, rapunzel was kept, but she was cared about, and gage is freer, but he is hated. so. that's one big fucked-up layer. (and obvs this is gage's twisted mind like. gothel did not love rapunzel but the half-controlling half-uncaring approach she takes with gage really Fucks him up.)

so gage is nothing like his sister. yet at the same time, gage is everything like his sister. of course he thinks about seeing things that aren't on the isle. he's realistic, he's not stupid, he knows it's never gonna happen, he doesn't have any dreams or grand escape plans, but yeah. he thinks about it. especially because of rapunzel. he has her storybook - he stole it from a kid at school and kept it hidden in his room ever since. his mom will kill him if she finds it, but he has to know, and so he knows, and it haunts him. why did she get to get out? why do people care about what happens to her, but not him? why does she get the mother who actually gives a shit, and then gets to marry the prince and ride off in the sunset? does she know about him? does she care? would she come back for him? has she tried? so he envies her, he wants to be her, he resents her, he wants to know her, he misses her, he knows he'll never be like her. all he'll have is the same shitty mom and her shadow to live in, and he'll never be the one to get away or the most-loved or the one with a prince.

and then, THE CRAZY THING HAPPENS, and he gets an opportunity. a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get away. and he takes it. because at the end of the day he IS his sister's brother and he DOES want a better life and he DOES want what she has. and even crazier, he gets it!!! all of it!!!! he gets the prince and the castle and the found family who loves him. it turns out he's EXACTLY like his sister, and they both get to live happily ever after. and YET. she still haunts him. the idea of her looms over him his entire time at auradon. she hasn't come to meet him; does she not want to? does she hate him for being his mother's son? does she not think of him the way he thinks of her?

and then CHAD, of all people, is like. 'well why don't You Go To Her. you can do that. and figure all of that out.' and well why didn't gage think of that! so they go (and they go together, bc gage wasn't gonna go on his OWN, he's a scaredy cat at heart and if he's gonna go meet her prince he's gonna bring his) and just DROP IN bc. dumb and dumber did not plan ahead. (cue Gage and Chad's Big Summer Abroad my beloved.)

and of course rapunzel sees them, and of course she didn't know about him (i like to think the other kingdoms have better stuff to do than keep up with auradon's mess ANLNLNFNK like she probs knew there were vks there, but not aware a Gothel Kid existed, let alone that one was at auradon prep), because she would've. come to get him and taken care of him. and he's skeptical bc it's who he is and resentful bc that's really who he is, and things are awkward and bitter and kind-of tense, because he's spent all this time wanting what she has, resenting her, wanting to know why. but now he has all that, and maybe she has it just as bad (different, but just as), and maybe there was no why. it just happened. and she welcomes him with open arms and she loves him and they're family and it's everything he's ever wanted, but he can't just let himself have this. he has to work for it. they both do.

so it's time to move on, but he doesn't know how (forgiving and forgetting isn't really an isle trait lmao) and it's not just. magically fixable with love, as much as rapunzel wishes it were. but she'll help him get there regardless. there are long, tearful, trauma-bonding conversations to be had, and screws loose in gage's head to pop back in place, and toxic bullshit to be unlearned. so it'll be a long journey to recovery, but one that's worth it. and for once in his life, gage is no longer second, but equal.

Omg that’s one of my favorite pics of him as well! It looks like his first real big boy, grown up headshot. I find it incredibly endearing how young and boyish he looks even though he’s suited up and obviously old enough to be in the professional rat race. Considering he’s been re wearing the same things since he was a teen, I can imagine young Luigi picking those clothes out with his mum 😢

As always with older pictures of him, something in my stomach drops every time I see his smile. I can’t even imagine how his parents feel. There’s quite an age gap between him and his sisters. He was obviously a much-wanted boy (and considering his sisters also seem so loved and are doing well, I don’t think it came from a place of sexism…a lot of parents simply want both son and daughter to complete the family) and he must have been their little prince growing up.

We know very little of Luigi when it comes down to it. His family, his friends, they have decades worth of memories of what an incredible person he is. If we feel so cut up about his situation, imagine how they feel. Imagine how the woman who literally made him inside her feels. I don’t think I’d be able to deal if it was my baby out there, being treated like a zoo animal and undergoing god knows what behind bars. How helpless they must feel that they can’t save him from this, no matter how desperately they want to help. I doubt they’ve known a moment of peace since their son was grabbed.

I also wonder how much of the details they know. I’m positive they’re paying at least a % of his lawyers fees, so I assumed they’d be kept in the loop. Turns out his legal team is not allowed to confer with them, even though they’re his family. Because of client attorney privilege and how sensitive the matter is. So I wonder, did they know what went down at McDonalds, how a dozen pigs ambushed their kid? Did they find out along with the rest of us?

Another thing I’ve noticed, something about Luigi has changed drastically since he was taken. It’s like he went from boy to man. Something in his aura noticeably shifted. If you compare pictures from before and after you’d think it was two different people, or the same person with a huge amount of time in between photos. That’s the kind of transition to adulthood that most parents find bittersweet, and it usually comes when the child is settling down, starting a family of their own. How cruel that his parents have to witness this change due to him being thrown into federal prison instead.

I say a little prayer for Luigi everyday, and another one for his family too. I really hope they’re able to put this nightmare behind them soon enough.

like i always say, we don’t know how good or bad of a relationship lu had with his parents when he disappeared and distanced himself from everyone, but there’s no doubt in my mind that they love him a lot and that they were beyond terrified and concerned for him. no parent would feel indifferent to any of their children, let alone their youngest, vanishing off the face of the earth and i can’t imagine how petrified they must’ve been when they found out their missing son was found only because he’s being suspected of unaliving someone.. i obviously don’t know how his parents are in real life but my heart really does go out to them and his sisters.

i lied in the post title, btw. i actually have only one main thought about this run.

i have a proposition to make, batman fandom: dick is actually more wary of Jason then bruce is.

i think—dick heavily dislikes jason for always being able to uncover the old wound. i think as someone who's been there since the start, has seen bruce through his best and his worst, cannot stand this grinning spectre upending all the progress bruce has made with his grief. and! i think a part of dick has always felt unsettled that even he couldn't completely heal that grief. and the one person who could do it (he thinks), the one person who is against all odds alive to do it—what does jason do? he needles the wound open. he won't let it rest. he beats up dick's little brother. he sows chaos all over gotham and dick's new city. he saw bruce drown in the self-destructive depression for years and the one person who might have helped ease it in a way no one else could is too busy cutting a bloody swath through various cities.

i think, also, that this—detachment, if you will, is aided by the fact that dick and jason did not know each other as well as they might have. jason was taken in after bruce fired dick, so nightwing was still taking off solo. they have been able to connect and dick and jason have very cute interactions pre-ditf but it's a drop in the ocean compared to dick and tim's relationship.

there is also, i think, a disconnect between robinjay and red hood jason—his little brother died with robinjay, and whoever the red hood is is almost a stranger

He's someone from a long, long time ago. Black sheep of the family, as it were. His name is Jason Todd. He thinks he's me. This may sound crazy, but... he's supposed to be dead. Twice over.

"from a long, long time ago." and like i said, there's this almost detachment from dick, no (positive) reminiscence of jay's robin days. i do think that dick, wrt jason, is mostly unrestrained by past sentiment—or at least he's better at separating that sentiment than bruce, who although tries to remain objective in his chase against red hood, is also notably shaken, to the point that jason was able to force his hand & drive him to panic, leading to half-thought, panicked decisions that a level-headed batman would not have made (as i think we are all in agreement that bruce would not actively decide to disarm his son via batarang to the throat, especially considering his no-kill rule.)

there's more i'd like to say, but this is most of it—i don't want to drown the dash with batman rambling, but im asking yall to consider it. think about how delicious this dynamic is!! there's so so much to explore!!! and i think it really hammers home just how much the world has changed during jason's death & disappearance 🫣

lol srry rambling about sam/seb and seb/kent

ok so ive been obsessed with the fic im writing. i love love love sambastian but recently have been into kent a lot... its just a perfect scandal type story that writes itself omg. i do want to make myself clear tho it is NOT an incest fic. ive seen a few sam/kent (D:<) fics and though they both are romantically involved with sebastian in my story, thats it. there will not be any form of incest related shit!!

anyways.. im writing as i go lol, not sure what i got planned, but the overall storyline is sebastian and sam are regular friends, though seb is totally into sam but wouldnt dare act upon his feelings in fear of rejection and ruining the friendship.

kent has been back home from deployment for about half a year and has been struggling with a bunch of problems. alcoholism, ptsd, along with other issues. he distances himself from everyone, especially his family, and is just lowkey spiraling.

with sebastian constantly being around sam, being at his house majority of the time, kent naturally was always there in the background. he never really had an opinion on kent, he respected him and was a bit intimidated by him, but nevertheless they didn't really have any type of relationship outside of their formal one. kent felt the same way, not really much of an opinion on seb, just some goth kid who hung around his son. he wasn't bad news per se, even noticed he was a positive influence on his son in certain ways, so he was fine with him and welcomed him into his home.

neither of them ever expected in a million years that something would blossom between them. though not romantic per se, more so sexual, it was definitely a dirty little secret that could never be discovered by anyone. how did it even begin? kent was wasted one night, sebastian got caught up in taking care of him, and one thing unfortunately led to another.

instead of being a one-time mistake, it continued to happen. with all of kents demons, it caused him to act out in more ways than one, and sebastian was part of that. for sebastian on the other hand, his reasoning behind the affair was a bit different, though one may even consider it sicker.

he would imagine kent was sam. he felt that was the closest he would ever get to samuel, and though it was in an immoral, twisted way, his overpowering desire for him was too controlling, so once the morbid opportunity came about, his perverted love and infatuation took ahold.

eventually seb finds out that sam has reciprocating feelings and of course drops everything to be something with him. though it wouldn't be that easy, given the dirty past.

Despite the three of you fighting with all your might, it was obvious that you three were losing as well. Kid was way more faster and flexible out of the three of you, as well as being able to have access to far distance with his twin pistols. The fight is coming to a closure when Kid is so sick and tired of all the mess going on, fooling around. Kid decided to do his signature drop down to shoot you. You and Kid were so close to one another. Very close.

A headcanon about that character - Apparently, it's a common headcanon among us that whole thing about Marshall becoming deaf when he grows up, so I'll go with my OTHER headcanon, the cause for his bad genetics would be for being inbred, born at a puppy mill.

An unpopular opinion about that character - I don't want him to be the main pup in a movie just for "he deserves it". Been there, seen how it goes. When a franchise produces something just to cater to fandom wishes/angry demands, the risks of it coming out real badly made are HIGH. I love Marshall and I want him to be the star under a movie spotlight just like most of you do, but I absolutely DO NOT want to demand for it. I do NOT want the next movie to be about him. I do NOT want them to make something just for the sake of making something. I will NOT get mad if the next movie isn't about him. Whenever they make a movie about him, I just want it to be well made and I do NOT mind waiting how many years it'll take. And if they won't ever make it, I'll be sad, but not mad, not angry, I'm not gonna drop the show just for that. As much as I love Marshall with all my heart and soul, I am well aware he is a fictional character and I am a real living person. The fact that there's two versions of the theme song. "Kids In America" and "Leave it Up to Me" were certified bops. (Also, "I Have the Ring".)

Love how it's understandable when Sheen or Cindy be crazy, but the minute Jimmy shows any signs of that, everyone is unsettled. (His little dance before the Egyptian Beach Party.)

These two would be the type to run two separate rival companies whose seemingly at odds with each other on the surface, but secretly work together. The "fighting" is just a marketing strategy. The private negotiation meetings? Those are just flirting sessions. :P

Yeah, I heard it was a copyright thing at the time that lead to the name change. James [Issac Neutron] in particular was something Judy's VA came up with, just like Hugh's VA came up with the nicknames. (Heh, whenever Jimmy goes through some emotional crisis, expect Cindy to be the one to pick him back up.)

I kinda understand where the other kids are coming from to an extent; when you get stuck in the class with the one kid that's so naturally gifted, there's an unintended pressure that comes with that. More from the school than the kid themselves. "Why try your best if you'll get outshined no matter what", so to speak. Jimmy is not really trying to get people on his level, just want to share his interest just like anyone else with theirs. He's prone to act out when he's not acknowledged because his skills often isolates him and use as a recuring source to antagonize him. It's very clear that his intelligence has led to some insecurity issues with him and have him do things he'd usually talk himself out of. (While not 100% innocent, if Carl and Sheen weren't a constant support for him social-wise, I don't doubt the possibility of Jimmy just eventually snapping and lashing out his anger on everyone in the school. If the N-Men episode was anything to go by; granted that was influenced by radiation.)

Even though it was the bad future, it was kinda wholesome that it was implied the three lived together as adults.

According to the creator, we actually came VERY close to something at one point a few years ago before it got dropped unfortunately. Ironically enough, it was around the time they started acknowledging the series more upfront again and it's been increasing ever since. (Just last week they used stock footage of Jimmy in that NFL Slimetime thing and I believe he's getting some new Funkos this year. Even the FOP: A New Wish crew said they're not against doing a Power Hour 4 if they get a season 2.) It's definitely not proof of anything and I'm not holding my breath, but if there ever were a time to drop some unexpected JN news, better do it while everyone's on high alert for crumbs.

I understand why they wouldn't use the movie's music in the show, but Kids in America was legendary and deserves to be in an epic scene in the show, too! Libby's songs are also legendary, uhhh, and the Valentine's song!! AND HUGH'S SONG OMG Jimmy Neutron was so good!!

Jimmy and Cindy would deny their marriage just to keep the rivalry of their companies on fire!! or exploit their relationship to compete so the media would pay attention to the irony of them being husband and wife and CEO rivals. Is one or another I can't see an in-between. ALSO I think Jimmy would also have some sort of job as a spy right? I mean it's pretty clear he will keep in contact with Jet and the government in the future, would be nice to imagine how that would work.

Yes, being smart will inevitably get him into that position, and it's sad because Jimmy never does it to mock their classmates. Actually, in the first episode when he wants to downgrade his brain, he really feels self-conscious while showing his project. He even said to Libby that her project was interesting to make her feel better because as you said, they are exhausted to try and do something to show in class when they know Jimmy would do something 10 times better. Agreed with the insecurities I think that is also why he is so polite, to empathize the fact that he is no enemy he can't help but be brilliant, but that doesn't mean he wants to shame others. OMG the N-Man episode !! I kind of feel that Jimmy's anger comes from a shallow area, like his shortness, he is self-aware of this since the movie and would totally become worse if there were no Carl and Sheen.

THE THREE AMIGOPS, there is something in the way they all have a horrid future and still find comfort in their group. THEY KEPT CARL SAFE WHILE BEING PERSECUTED FOR YEARS AHHH <3!!

I recall there was a podcast and a new render of Jimmy as a High Schooler around the internet years ago (I don't remember if it was just a fan-art 3D modeling but it was mentioned by Jimmy's VA I think) but yes I'm aware they played with the idea too, I'm still hoping but sadly I don't see why would Nickelodeon do another season unless they sell the rights to other company which is not exactly something they can do easily. Didn't know about the FOP: ANW Crossover THAT WOULD BE LEGENDARY, the new show has been awesome too!! and I'm begging for a second season also, they deserve it!!
