Jonathan and Mike as a pairing means everything to me. Jon has known Mike since they were both tiny, and he's has been like an older brother to Mike their whole lives. It pains me when people talk about Jonathan hating Mike or not supporting Will for loving Mike, because it isn't true. He might hold some resentment because of how Mike hurt Will (and El), but ultimately Jonathan loves him like a sibling.

I need them together in s5. At least a little bit. I NEED Jonathan to comfort Mike during a mental/sensory breakdown. I NEED Jonathan to remind Mike that he supports him and Will. I NEED Jonathan to thank Mike for being there for Will, and vice versa.

I love them so much.

Snippet Sunday

from Untitled Mike reading Nancy's diary during Pining Era fic

“Do you think they’re having an affair?” Mike blurts out, incapable of keeping the theory to himself any longer.  “Who!?” Will gasps, accidentally drawing attention. He does an awkward half-wave to the ninth grader who volunteers after school and then goes back to pretending to work on his History homework.  “Mr. Clarke and the librarian?” he whispers, not looking up from the War of 1812.  “What? No!” he exclaims, earning them another shush. Mike rolls his eyes, as Will makes a barrier with one of their textbooks.   “Nancy and Jonathan” Mike clarifies quietly.  “Huh’’ Will murmurs like he’s entertaining Mike’s idea but isn’t all too invested. Clearly, he’ll have to bring forth his actual evidence in order to convince Will.   “Listen, I read her diary and-” “You read her diary!?” Will snaps, his eyes widening.  “Mr. Byers!” “Sorry Mrs. Hill” Will apologizes, even though he doesn’t look guilty in the least.  “It was open” Mike explains, like it somehow justifies him invading Nancy’s privacy. Sure, he went looking for the book after that, but the first time it was wide open.  “That’s so messed up” Will admonishes.  “I know but-” “How would you feel if someone read your journal?" he questions rhetorically.  “Not great” Mike grumbles, even though he writes about way more interesting things than love affairs.  “Exactly” Will resolves, picking his pencil back up.  Mike frowns. He crosses his arms on top of the table, rests his chin on them and huffs. If he can’t convince Will then telling Lucas or Dustin is completely out of the question. Will just doesn’t spend enough time with Nancy to really know how weird she’s been lately… Well, weirder than normal. Maybe if he can copy her diary pages, have Will read how Nancy describes Jonathan he’ll get it. He’d have to steal it for at least an hour, which could be difficult, if he cancels on the arcade on Friday he can do it while she’s out with- “Why do you think they’re having an affair?” Will asks so quietly that anyone else wouldn't have noticed.  “What do you know?” Mike perks up, suddenly. Elated at the possibility of a co-conspirator.
