EXPERIENCE: I've been roleplaying for a very long time but its been a while since i've rped on Tumblr so im relearning a lot of the etiquette lol Most of my rp was through discord.

-No Force shipping. This goes both ways. I do ship Yuri but I would of course like to discuss that with the mun first if you are wanting to do a ship. On the other end, I will not automatically try to initiate a romance with a Yuri rper if we have not established that that is what we want. As other other ships, I usually like it when things establish naturally. If the muses seem to be getting along well, hit me up! Ask me! I'll let you know how the Flynn muse is feeling at that moment! But other wise, I just like relationships to develop naturally. (hopefully this makes sense LOL)

-No God Modding. If our muses fight, lets discuss via DMs about the outcome of the fight. And to be honest, I kind of usually determine my muses moves via dice roll to keep my muse from performing perfectly all the time. (I also hope this makes sense LOL)

the Yuri on Ice relapse is a thing and the withdrawal is a thing too that anime is a fucking drug I don't know how I don't know why but it is. it legit got me spiralling on Tumblr and Twitter, just searching for ice adolescence.

after that search I came to the conclusion that iceAdo is probably selved until further notice, mainly bc there is an anon Twitter account basically saying they are a Mappa employee; tweeting that Mappa won't ever announce that they are cancelling IceAdo bc it would look bad on investors but honestly idk like... leaving fans hanging with no answer also looks bad for the investors no?

furthermore, the whole Avex & Mappa thing with YoI couldn't be ignored either but it just boiled down to money. mappa wanted more money and Avex locked them in a contract that cut Mappa very little money (allegedly). Some fans speculate that Mappa is delaying IceAdo bc they want to pressure Avex but again it is all speculation.

honestly, after all that, I just opened AO3 and read every YoI fanfic I could find bc I have little to no hope that IceAdo is coming. the worst part about all this is that YoI is an original anime, therefore there is no official continuation apart from animation. it is also unlikely that Avex or Mappa gonna hand over production to another studio bc let's be real here, YoI put Mappa on the map, there is no denying that.

But then again it is not impossible bc Wit studio (the studio that originally produced Attack on Titan and whose name was put on the map by AOT) handed over production to Mappa bc they have no time to produce the final season.

This kinda shows that to handover production is possible but then again, we are talking about mappa here... infamous for overworking their employees and underpaying them among other things (allegedly)

anyhow, I'm saying IceAdo is possible but the possibility is... less than 10% (In my humble and limited opinion)

tier 1: if you ask ANYONE on tumblr, they will guaranteed know what these are

klance: popular ship between voltron’s lance and keith. trended at number one on fandom polls for genuinely, at minimum, 2 years

giant lions: theyre giant lion mechs that make one big mech

steven yeun voices keith: self explanatory

tumblr fandom: the atrocities of most of these happened directly on tumblr

tier 2: most people on tumblr know of this to some degree

sheith: second biggest ship from the voltron fandom between shiro and keith

galra keith: the highly popular theory that keith was actually part galra that was confirmed in season 2

bex tk: pidge’s va, got into numerous scandals, the most prevalent one being the power bottom keith incident

toxicity from fans: any amount of research into the voltron fandom will let you know EXACTLY what this is talking about

sheith vs klance: the near homicidal warring on tumblr between sheith shippers and klance shippers. to this day, i hate sheith with every bone in my body, although i can now acknowledge that holy shit everything got way too out of hand

dirty laundry: the first well known fic for voltron. it was a fake dating au, the pairing being, to no surprise, klance

the bonding moment: we had a bonding moment! i cradled you in my arms!!

tier 3: you might have to search a bit for this information, but it doesnt take much to find it

glass cupcakes incident: an alleged (and i say alleged bc there was no confirmation of this actually happening iirc) direct assault on the voltron creators wherein a fan of the show sent cupcakes with glass baked into them in order to make klance canon. again, i have no idea if this one is real or not

KICK!:

#socksforsheith: i believe this one is also alleged, but supposedly, sheith shippers were wholeheartedly convinced there was a secret ending to season 8 where shiro and keith were together, and for whatever reason? sent socks to dreamworks? to try and get them? to release the secret season ending? it was very very strange to witness in real time

season 9 in 2021 (although it may have been 2022): there was a scare after a very very blatantly false nerd news site posted there was going to be a season 9. voltron trended for the first time in years as everyone quaked in fear at the prospect of a season 9.

korean keith: very very popular headcanon that keith was korean, as he was voiced by steven yeun, a korean man. 

klance shipper extorting studio mir* (i got the name wrong on my original list): while on a tour of studio mir, the studio that animated for voltron, a fan of the show took a lot of pictures of material for a future season and posted them to twitter as a sort of? hostage situation i guess? to make klance canon. theres a lot of conflicting reports that this was just a sheith shipper posing as a klance shipper to make them look bad, but its never really been confirmed either way iirc

tier 4: this information is more well known in the voltron hemisphere but DOES breach outside of it

klance powered muscles: my favorite copypasta of all time. a multiparagraph spiel from a 30 year old proshipping yaoi enjoyer who used the phrase “klance powered muscles” in the middle of their villain monologue. i still quote it to this day 

klance vs viktuuri: 2016 was a big year for both voltron fans and yuri on ice fans. big enough that, when klance and viktuuri went head to head in a shipping poll on a website that was attempting to find the most popular ship of 2016, it got bot-voted ENORMOUSLY by both sides. the site decided to reset the polls and told both sides if they couldnt behave, another ship would win. despite the fair warning, and both sides attempting desperately to get others to stop bot-voting, the title ended up going to supercorp from supergirl.

whitewashed comic cover: a cover for an official voltron comic where lance and hunk were SEVERELY whitewashed beyond belief. it was later changed after fan outcry

“leave the math to pidge”: another iconic klance quote that ive put much farther down due to the fact that it is not nearly as well known or iconic as the bonding moment

tier 5: this information does not breach outside of voltron fandom spaces

the power bottom keith incident: the aforementioned bex tk was well known for their controversy and engagement with the voltron fandom. their most well known crime was, when told that the comments they made and liked about keith, one of them being about him being a power bottom, who at the time was 18, were completely inappropriate and asked for them to apologize, their response was “keith is 18. shiro is 25. sheith confirmed. power bottom. deal with it.” it very quickly became a meme through fan spaces bc the situation was just so fucking ridiculous 

katie klanced: my beloved. my idol. the one who started it all. she once liked one of my posts and i have never forgotten it. but in all seriousness, shes infamous in voltron spaces for the sheer amount of influence she had in the fandom. the mark they left on klance was truly impressive

shlav: people were getting real sick and tired of having no substantial slash ships with shiro (except for shatt) so they took shiro’s greatest enemy, slav, and formed an entire ship based on it. there was even a subship called shlavion, which was shiro x slav x minion (despicable me). for the most part it was a joke, but id be shocked if there wasnt some people who were serious about it

“move it, shaladin”: this video was a cultural breaking point for voltron fans. the heathers musical parody where artist misterpoof sings of their experiences being slandered for shipping shiro and keith. i was, and still am, a staunch anti-shaladin, but i have to admit. the cover is totally tubular 

alien herpes: during the season 8 allurance goodbye kiss, lance receives altean marks on his face for. some reason. all i can remember was everyone (or maybe just a select group of people) referring to it as alien herpes and like. theyre not necessarily wrong.

leakira: people were PISSED about the s8 ending. literally everyone got fucked over, HARD. so, having to move on but still being super attached to klance, twitter and tumblr created an entirely new series, that im not even sure had a name, that was literally just people drawing redesigns of keith and lance, named akira and leandro, respectively.

tier 6: you either have to be an OG fan or do some SUPER intensive research as a new fan

the klible: written by, to no surprise, a klance fan, the klible was a super intensive 50,000+ words long manifesto as to why klance would eventually be canon written over the course of the show. you can still view it here

i control the paladins: posted at the beginning of tiktok’s popularity, this video showcases 2 cosplays, one being of the witch haggar, and the other being keith. over the course of the video, haggar casts a spell that gives keith not just a maid outfit and cat features such as a tail and ears, but a pair of boobs as well. its just very iconic and still in my camera roll. oo nanana.

the voltron VR video game: looking back, i probably shouldve put this one higher, HOWEVER there is a method to my madness. this game was talked about for a WEEK before it faded into absolute obscurity. everytime someone talks about voltron, they never mention the video game, ever.i feel like im the only one that remembers that game. i feel crazy.

jeremy in LM’s basement: jeremy shada, lance’s va, was well known for, if memory serves, the KL dynamic in a way that fans tended to interpret as that they would end up together. while i have no idea for certain if that was his intent, fans joked that showrunner lauren montgomery was going to lock him in her basement if he kept dropping hints about keith and lance’s “eventual” romance arc

tier 7: you just. you had to be there

the greasy keith movement: a movement to specifically dunk on people who drew and wrote keith as the softest most pathetic babygirl in the world. keith was drawn as a stinky smelly mother fucker who loved cars and not showering and conspiracy theories. the fanon keith that was meant to serve as an antithesis to the OTHER fanon keith. 

keith “gerald” kogane: THIS. THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE. BETWEEN SEASONS SOMEONE GOT BORED AND LEAKED INFORMATION THAT KEITH’S MIDDLE NAME WAS GERALD. THE FANS EXPLODED AT THIS SUPPOSED LEAK. EVERYONE WAS MAKING FUN OF HIM FOR HIS MIDDLE NAME BEING GERALD. THE SHEER AMOUNT OF TEXTPOSTS REGARDING KEITH’S MIDDLE NAME BEING GERALD WERE INNUMERABLE. IT WAS PEAK VOLTRON

the brony blogs: again, between seasons, fans got super bored and collectively decided to begin making blogs dedicated to the voltron characters being bronies. brony-matt, bronyshiro, bronylance. you name a voltron character, there was 100% a brony blog for them. i think even the bibobi’s had brony blogs.

birth vs. being hatched: youre not going to believe this. but voltron fans got bored again between seasons and decided that they were simply going to start a site-wide tumblr debate over whether keith was born or hatched from an egg. there was keith hatching fanart. 

space ranger partners: probably should have gone in a higher tier but THIS was the epitome of jeremy shada klance moments. he called them “space ranger partners” in one interview and the fans ran with it. say this phrase aloud to give a veteran voltron fan a heart attack

I'll be sure to remember your offer to listen to rants🤣🤣 because I think there will be a few at least. One of our professors has mailed us the course outline for their subject today so that has been a knock on the door for me. I've been having a chill time with family but now I'll have to go back and stay so far away from them again. I don't mind staying in the hostel and being responsible for myself and washing my clothes by hand myself and all that stuff but i wish i could get to hug my parents and forcibly cuddle up to my brother whenever I want the way i do at home.

I finished Yuri on ice and i loved it. It was really fun. I don't know if I told you this but i randomly read fanfic on ao3 of the show ages before i ever watched it so now it'll be fun to go read fic after finally having watched it

The past few days have been okay. The Christmas lunch was a success. The dinner went a bit wonky, my pasta was perfectly well rolled out and cut but i undercooked them slightly🥲😔 but they loved the hummus and okonomiyaki at lunch and the pasta sauce at night as well as the cake so I'm at least a little bit consoled about that. I'll do better next time💕

ahh thanks for replying !! yeah the comedy bit is what i enjoy the most, superhero action-y genres aren’t usually my fav so i was hoping it would go towards either more comedy or at least a more consistent villain/plot line~ i do rlly like saitamas character tho !! but altho i haven’t met them properly in show yet, the characters you mentioned (like puri prisoner & also superalloy) do make me pretty uncomfortable from wht I’ve heard,,,,,, it jus looks like they could’ve done so so much better with those two,,, i wanna stick around for saitama but i also don’t wanna like,,, support a harmful series ??? idk if it’s considered like that tho — ive jus been looking a lot for a new series to get into (n i adore mp100 so much i thought this could be a good start) tho if you have any other anime recs I’d love to hear !! thanks again !! 💖

at least as far as s1 goes i don't think superalloy shows up and puri prisoner is a very sparsely used bit-character (and the parts where he isn't a bit the gross stuff isn't happening all the time). i can't give much of an opinion on the racism, but wrt to the homophobia it's so infrequent and decentralised from any themes etc that enjoying the stuff around it doesn't seem like a big deal, idk - at the end of the day it's a Massive Series already and it's had the impact it's going to have in that regard.

if you're enjoying saitama's character though the direction of s1 will be of interest! though there's not much of a storyline it does sort of follow his aimlessness of being basically unbeatable.

march comes in like a lion s1 was nice (im bad at genres but it's a drama/slice-of-life kinda thing that similarly looks at how bonds and relationships with others help you recover and grow - there's some cws for that though)

dororo (the recent adaptation) is a really neat supernatural/demon show set in the period where samurai lords were making life hell - short and... hellish, but in a light-horror way. it won't keep you up at night but there's gore and body-horror as a warning

gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun is a MUST if you like comedy, it's a genuine delight. titular nozaki-kun is a mangaka for a monthly girl's magazine but the main character is a girl who has a crush on him who gets roped into helping him with the manga when her confession goes wrong. everyone in that show is hilarious and i think you'll enjoy it

otherwiseeee i feel like my recs would be like "okay arthur name another massive anime why don't you" but i love FMAB, Yuri on Ice, and the second season of Noragami (which requires you to watch the first season but that's not too horrendous - but maybe skip the OVAs, the first one i tried was uhhh offputting)

banana fish - this would be a really intense one to start with. its only one season, the themes are exceptionally heavy (trigger warnings galore) but the story is beautiful, the characters are beautiful, and the exploration of love&connection between the two main male characters is something ill think about every day for forever. oh also it takes place in nyc so that might be super cute for you. also i feel obligated to warn you that after watching this... you’ll cry. you’ll get hurt by this anime. deeply.

no.6 - this one is sort of sci-fi/dystopian/magical but also, not fully? bad explanation. i love it. also angsty, also trauma heavy. but it’s only 11 episodes and once again explores that soulmate-y, deep intense love for another human through circumstance that just gets me.

yuri on ice - this shit is so feel good. sports anime will make you so fulfilled and motivated lol. i think i read somewhere that the creator wanted a world where “homophobia doesn’t exist.” the art is pretty, the story is great, it’s funny, inspirational. 1 season.

haikyuu - this is probably what i blog about the most. im like, in-in this fandom lol. a huuuuge cast of characters. another sports anime about volleyball but god, it’s so impactful. it’s not romance based at all but there’s still plenty of pairings and ships and dynamics to explore if you want that (and trust me, we all want that lol) and it’s just... I love it. The fandom is also AMAZING. this is multiple seasons but the next new season comes out in october! plus, if you end up watching.. you’ll probably never want it to end.

given- okay last one I’ll recommend for you otherwise ill never stop. i think this one is my top rec for you. boy meets boy, emotional trauma, angst, they‘re in a band. a good cast of characters. pretty art. and the music is fucking gooood. i listen to the original songs daily lol. also only 1 season but there is a movie that should be (hopefully) available soon to watch.
