About Episodes 7 and 8...MASSIVE SPOILERS!!

Initial thoughts (because if I talk about EVERYTHING right now you'll be here for at least half an hour)...

WHAT THE HELL?!

I mean I loved getting to watch the season finale, don't get me wrong. But I have just as many grievances as things I loved about it and also SO MUCH happened?!?!?!

Charlie: Loved getting to see her be all demon-y, I've been waiting all season. Also loved her and the cannibals (especially Rosie!!!). So glad she got to work w/ Luci to protect the hotel <333 She and Vaggie are adorable too.

Vaggie: I really enjoyed watching her and Carmilla's song, that was cool. Protecting her girlfriend, very cute. I liked seeing her and Lute have that little face-off.

Husk: Sad that we didn't get to see much of him, but I get it. His interactions with the others were sweet (especially Angel). I loved the one line he got to sing on his own in that last song of episode 8. 😍

Angel: Ngl I am very glad he wasn't the one to die. It would've been a fun little "oh crap" moment but I really didn't want to be right. He's still got business down there. His interactions with the others here are everything to me, and he's just grown so much and aaaaaa. It's lovely to see! I love him more and more with every episode.

Niffty: YOU GO, GIRL!!!! Love to see the stabbing. I also really loved the...one line Nifty got. Kimiko Glenn's voice is a gift, I freaked out over getting to hear one line. Anyway. not much else to say other than I definitely thought it was Alastor doing a big "oh look, I'm alive!" thing when Adam got stabbed, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Cherri Bomb/Sir P: I was surprised, to say the least, when Cherri and Sir P had that little moment. Glad they got it before he went and DIED. Cherri is such a good friend to Angel and she's great. Now, onto Sir P...WOW, OKAY. Glad we know Charlie's plan isn't completely stupid. Wonder how Sera's gonna react to him being there now, lol.

The Vees: FIRST OFF, VOX?????? "This is better than sex!" 💀💀💀 Truly was not expecting to see as much of the Vees as we did. Not complaining though. It was...interesting...to say the least, watching Vox get as excited as he did over the prospect of Al dying (still as obsessed as ever, fr). Not at all surprised to see Val and Vox have a thing going, I figured from the interactions we've seen so far. Them dancing together was silly, them practically making out was less so 😃. Also, gotta continue the love for Velvette--putting up with these two idiots must take a lot. Also also, her HAIR! HER HAIR!! EEEEE

Lucifer: I reallllyyyyyy enjoyed seeing Luci make a return to help Charlie, even if it was in one of those "last-minute saves" that I usually hate. Idk, makes sense here I guess because he's probably always watching over Charlie some way. ALSO LUCI AND CHARLIE GOING ALL DEMON-Y TOGETHER WAS <33333333 I really loved him starting off that last song in episode 8, and telling Charlie that he believes in her. It was so sweet. I love Luci sm, hoping he becomes a more integral part of the crew in s2.

Adam/Lute/Lilith: HAHA HOW DOES IT FEEL TO LOSE??? Lute got what she deserved with the whole...arm thing. ALSO WHAT--JUST GONNA CASUALLY DROP LILITH IN HERE NOW? Sure, fine, whatever, totally cool. Not sure how to feel about Lilith atm so moving on. I dunno why I was so shocked upon seeing Adam's face. I guess I expected him to...not look as good as he does? Also so upset that he broke Al's staff. How rude. He sucks.

Rosie: Not how I expected her to sound, but I'm most certainly not disappointed. I don't have much to say other than I loved literally everything about her. No complaints--at least not yet ig, need to go back and rewatch the episodes critically. Her and Alastor is everything to me, and seeing them dance was <333333 I cannot express my excitement over it enough.

Alastor: Saved him for last because yes. If I wasn't limiting myself to a short paragraph for each, I'd be writing a whole essay just about Al, I swear....CANNOT believe what just happened omg. Not only did we get to see silly Al in episode 7, but we got to see scary (and scared) Al in episode 8. He's really freaking out, it's so entertaining! I'm so glad it wasn't him who died, I started getting a bit worried for a minute there....His relationship with Rosie is aaaaa, best of besties fr. Fighting Adam scene was glorious. Making Vox act like an idiot even when not trying was funny to watch (Vox's obsession with this guy is so silly). Him retreating sure was a move, but I'm glad he didn't get all stubborn and end up dying. Him ranting a bit in his section of the final song was so...AAAAAAA. Man is so scared, he looks stressed as can be. I need to see Alastor just have an external breakdown because he honestly feels like he's on the verge of one. 💀

In Pittsburgh things were always very simple, you had your routine, you knew everywhere, and so did most people. But that never stopped you from always being curious about other people and wanting to get closer to them, which is why you became so close with your brother Graham's friends.

Eddie was the first to fit in with you, you took your time to become great friends, Chuck was always nice to you, you weren't great friends like Eddie but he never gave you reasons to complain about his presence, as for Warren... He was always a curious case.

"Hey there Y/N, good to see you again!" he says with a smile. You chat for a few moments until Billy calls over to start rehearsal.

As you walk past Warren to sit on the chair you always used to sit on practice, he can't resist making another teasing comment.

"Try to keep up, kid" he says with a smirk. "Maybe if you try hard you can understand at least a little bit."

You roll your eyes and shake your head, but can't help but feel a little flustered by his attention. Warren always made this kind of comment since the beginning of the band, was it something commenting on your age or always teasing you about something you like.

Eddie Roundtree: He was clearly trying to get her attention, he didn't leave any gaps, no matter what Y/N said or did he had to comment on something.

Rojas already had feelings for you before you got close, an intense infatuation that made his heart race every time you looked back at him and smiled. "I'm sorry..." He says, laughing sheepishly. "I just wanted to know if you're okay, if I can help with anything…"

You can't contain your smile, this was definitely not something you were expecting from him, you approach the drummer and he avoids looking directly into your eyes, you notice that your presence makes him nervous for some reason and you like that.

"I guess you can just distract me with anything." You smile at him. "How about showing me that beat Billy wouldn't let you put on? I know you were excited about it."

Warren smiles at being close to you and then spins one of the sticks in his fingers to start playing, he involuntarily played the best way he could to impress you that day.

Over the years, you had grown accustomed to Warren's teasing and jabs. It was a familiar routine, and you even found yourself missing it when he wasn't around. But there was something different about him when you two were alone. He was more attentive, more thoughtful, and more interested in you as a person. He would ask about your day, your hobbies, and your favorite bands, and he always seemed genuinely invested in your answers.

Suddenly, Warren jumped up and ran towards thr garage, calling for you to follow him. You got up and followed him inside, the smell of oil and sweat hitting your nose. To your surprise, there was a drum set set up in the middle of the room, surrounded by guitars and amps. Warren picked up his drumsticks and started playing a beat, motioning for you to join in. You hesitated at first, but then you sat by his side and started to sing along, your voice blending with his in a perfect harmony.

For the next few hours, you played music together, experimenting with different sounds and rhythms. You forgot about time, space, and all the worries that usually plagued you. You felt alive, free, and unburdened, lost in the music and the moment.

As the sun began to set, you stopped playing and sat down on the couch, exhausted but exhilarated. Warren turned to you and smiled, his eyes shining with something you couldn't quite name.

"You know, I always feel like I can be myself when I'm playing music with you." He said, his voice low and husky. "It's like everything else just fades away."

You smiled back at him, feeling a warmth spreading in your chest.

You sat there in silence for a few moments, just enjoying each other's company. Your heart was beating fast, and you could feel the tension in the air. You looked into Warren's eyes and saw the same intensity that you were feeling.

He leaned in closer, and you could feel his breath on your face. His hand brushed against yours, sending shivers down your spine. You took a deep breath and opened your mouth to speak, but before you could say anything, Warren stopped you with a kiss.

His lips were soft and warm, and you melted into his embrace. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer to you. You could feel his hands on your waist, pulling you tight against his body.

When Warren finally pulled away, you were left breathless. You looked into his eyes and saw the same longing that you felt. He smiles still looking into your eyes, you lean to kiss him one more time but you are interrupted by Eddie's voice calling for you two from afar.

The problem was that Warren didn't act the same way around other people. When your brothers or the rest of the band were around, he would fall back into his old patterns of teasing and joking, and it made you feel insecure. Did he only treat you well when no one else was watching? Did he actually like you, or was he just being nice?

These conflicting emotions weighed heavily on your mind, and you found yourself thinking about Warren more and more often. Today the rehearsal was at the Dunne house, you were in the kitchen with your mother listening to them play in the distance, you were talking about your day at work and about some things in your day. Billy was singing "look me in the eye", your favorite song of theirs, excitedly you get up asking your mother for permission to go see them play one more time.

You make it in time for the chorus to start, you enter the garage already singing, you raise your fist to your face imitating a microphone while singing, Eddie smiles when he notices you, Graham laughs of your "performance", Billy rolls his eyes then smiles (he probably knew you were coming to listen), Camila was filming them and soon turns her camera towards you.

Warren felt butterflies in his stomach when he saw you, you looked so beautiful he just wanted to hold you and kiss you but he couldn't do that. So he holds back his smile when he sees you, trying to ignore your presence he ends up getting the timing of the song wrong. Billy turns to him, clearly annoyed.

"Let's take a coffee break." Billy says, turning off the microphone and taking a seat next to Camila.

"Will you stop right at my favorite?" You say, pretending to be sulking. "Very unfair!"

Warren comes out from behind the drum set, taking a seat on the couch next to Eddie and Graham.

"How come this is your favorite if you always sing that one line wrong?" Warren points out, laughing along with everyone but Camila.

If that comment came any other day you'd laugh along with them, but it struck all of your insecure thoughts about how the drummer really felt about you, you immediately frowned. And he noticed that, immediately he regretted what he said, for the first time you looked upset with him and he hated to see that.

"But… whatever, yours is better anyway." He ended up trying to make you smile, but when he saw that his favorite smile wasn't on your face, his heart sank.

You force a smile so that the atmosphere doesn't get awkward, a silence was established in the place but soon Eddie brings up a subject noticing that you wanted to escape this situation, you smile at him for saving you like that. As the conversation grows you take the opportunity to sneak out of the garage back to your room with frustration in your chest, damn be the moment you fell in love with that drummer.

You were lying in your bed, staring at your bedroom ceiling with your thoughts racing, insecurities slowly eating you up with absurd suggestions as to why Warren behaved like this.

Warren plucked up the courage to look you in the eyes, he brought his hands up to cup your face caressing your cheeks gently. His touch made you feel butterflies in your stomach, his gaze was so intense it made your heart race.

"I love you so much Y/N..." Rojas confesses, his brown eyes seem to see through you. You listened to him attentively, trying to understand his position regarding everything that had happened between the two of you so far.

"Now we're adults, there's no reason for me to act this way I know..." He says, now holding your hands. "But there's a lot at stake here, you know? I don't mean to say that it's not worth risking things for you, in fact there were times when all I wanted was to send my fear of your brother's reaction to hell."

You laughed weakly at the last comment, little by little that weight of insecurities left you as he told how he felt.

"I just wanted to make sure none of this affected you negatively, I didn't want your relationship with your brothers to be damaged by something I did." He confesses, you quickly cut him off to clarify something.

"Everything would be so much easier if you had told me this before, pretty boy." You say taking one of your hands to his hair strands. "I know Billy can be... Intense at times but I would help you work things out."

"I just need to make it clear to you that my heart is yours, and this may sound extremely cliché but I feel that you make my heart beat." You couldn't contain your smile. "Please forgive me for being a big asshole to you, I didn't want to hurt you in any way, my love."

You don't answer, you just kiss him deeply in the intention of solving all the questions between you. He gently pulls you onto his lap, holding you close like he's afraid of losing you every second, you keep kissing him while stroking his hair, his hands caress your skin under your shirt and you sigh with the contact making him smile in the middle of the kiss.

You part your lips from his, a smile spreading across your face as he brushes the hair from your eyes. The way he looks at you makes you feel like you're the only person in the world.

"Is rehearsal done?" you ask, flashing him a mischievous grin.

"I'm not sure," he shrugs, "Camila and Billy took off somewhere, but I wasn't really paying attention. I was too worried about you."

You roll your eyes and laugh, feeling a warmth spreading through your chest. "And what about the others?"

"Eddie, Chuck, and Graham are still in the garage," he whispers, his breath hot against your cheek.

"So that means I have you all to myself?" you say, your smile growing wider and more playful.

You trail your fingers down the front of his shirt before lifting it up and over his head. His eyes follow your every move as you toss the shirt aside. You lean in to kiss him again, your lips soft and warm against his skin. He shivers under your touch, his hands finding their way to your waist and pulling you closer to him.

"I believe so, Hermosa," he murmurs, his voice low and husky as you continue.

You keep kissing his neck, feeling his pulse racing under your lips. The atmosphere between you two is electric, filled with passion and desire that had been building up for far too long.

Warren's hands wander up and down your back, feeling the curves of your body. You can feel his muscles tense and relax with every touch, his breath hot on your skin.

You pull back for a moment, looking into his eyes. They're filled with so much love and adoration that it almost takes your breath away. You can't help but smile, feeling your heart swell with emotion.

"God, I love you," he whispers, pulling you in for another kiss.

Your lips meet again, this time more urgently, as if you're trying to make up for lost time. You run your fingers through his hair, tugging gently, making him moan into your mouth.

It's like nothing else matters in that moment, just the two of you, lost in each other. You feel his hands slip under your shirt, trailing up your back, making you shiver with pleasure.

You finally break the kiss, both of you gasping for breath. Warren leans his forehead against yours, a smile on his lips.

"I never want to let you go," he whispers, and you feel your heart skip a beat.

"I don't want you to." You answer, still out of breath. "Come on Rojas, I'm all yours."

In a few weeks the band and Camila were going to move to LA, and your heart ached at the thought of having them away. They were all what kept you happy and losing them all at once was scary.

Warren told you to meet him earlier before rehearsal, so soon you were in the garage waiting for your favorite drummer. You hear a noise and soon you see your boyfriend entering the place, he runs to you hugging you tight.

"My girl!' He says between kisses on your cheek. "I missed you so much princesa."

"Missed you two." You say kissing him.

"Hey kiddo, Mom said Warren is home, did you see him?" Billy walks in coming across Warren kissing his sister. "What the fuck!?"

Billy without thinking approaches you, pushing Warren away from you, losing balance, Rojas falls and you get scared with how quickly everything happened, you quickly get closer to your brother, pulling him away from your boyfriend.

"Hey Billy, it's okay!" You say calling his attention to you.

"What the fuck is going on here?" Billy doesn't lower his voice, he continues his tantrum. "What is on your fucking head Warren! Are you crazy?"

"What's going on here?" Graham enters the place trying to understand the reason for the confusion.

"I'm gonna fucking kill you." Warren feels a shiver down his spine at the older Dunne's words.

"Would anyone care to explain to me what's going on?" Graham looked confused. "Why is Warren on the ground?"

"Warren is fucking Y/N." Billy says, bringing his hands to his face in frustration.

Warren stands, watching you with a concerned look. You say "is everything alright?" in a whisper and he nods in agreement.

"Is that true?" Graham was shocked.

"I'm in love with her." Rojas says, Graham can't help but smile and Billy rolls his eyes.

"You can't be fucking serious." Billy scuffs. "You barely talk to each other."

"Or you just don't pay attention to anything but yourself…" You say and Billy looks at you in disbelief.

As you speak up to your brother, you can see the shock in his face. He never expected you to be so bold and confrontational.

"Excuse me?" Billy says, his eyebrows furrowed in disbelief.

"You heard me," you say, not backing down. "You never bothered to pay attention to me or what's going on in my life. All you care about is yourself and your fucking band."

"I can't believe you're saying this," Billy says, his voice rising.

Billy looks taken aback by your outburst. He opens his mouth to say something, but no words come out. He just stares at you, his face turning red with anger.

"Y/N, I think you should calm down." Warren says, putting a hand on your shoulder.

"No, Warren. I'm tired of him always acting like he's the only one who matters." You say, turning to face Billy. "You didn't even notice that I was happy, that I was in love with someone. All you cared about was yourself."

"Unbelievable!" Billy storms out of the garage, leaving you alone with Graham and Warren.

As you let out a frustrated sigh, Warren notices your unease and takes your hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing your knuckles gently. Graham watches the exchange between you two and chuckles, shaking his head in disbelief.

"I can't believe my little sister is dating Warren Rojas." He says, the amusement evident in his tone.

You and Warren laugh along with him, feeling more at ease now.

You lean your head on Warren's shoulder and he kisses the top of your head softly. Graham takes notice of Billy's absence and decides to go check on him.

"I'll see how he's doing." Graham points towards the garage door. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

Once Graham leaves, you turn to Warren, still worried about his fall due to Billy's outburst. You reach out and cup his face, showing your affection.

"Are you okay, pretty boy?" You ask him, your concern evident in your voice.

"I'm alright, princesa." He assures you, giving you a small smile. He leans in and plants a gentle kiss on your lips.

"Sorry about that whole scene, seriously." You say, feeling embarrassed by your brother's behavior.

"It's not your fault, Hermosa." Warren says, using the affectionate nickname he has for you. "I'm just happy to be with you. And now I'm going to tell the whole world that you're mine."

You smile and pull him in for an intense kiss, never wanting to let him go.

(god im still crying this isn't helping)

i was listening to phantom of the opera’s ‘medley : down once more / and track down this murderer’. and i just wanna you to know the heavenly experience i had cause OH MY LAWD

(~5:35 in the song, which is the duet/ trio between the phantom, raoul [love interest] and christine [main girl] )

and i LOVE how beautifully it connects. with reader’s confusion about their sudden flooding thoughts of jade. why they keep thinking about him even though they’re WITH floyd

while jade is going to the ‘point of no return,’ he literally cant go back. hes pretending to be his brother to 1. plant more jade shaped seeds in their head & 2. HES LITERALLY FUCKING THEM AS HIS BROTHER WHO HE KNOWS THEY HAVE A CRUSH ON. so yeah: he’s literally crossing the ‘point of no return,’ and he knows that. that this will either work out, or horrifically blow up in his face. but that’s only if you found out ☝️😲

my favorite part is that when christine sings about the ‘angel of music.’ the man [phantom] who was there in the shadows supporting her, yearning for her, loving her obsessively to the point it scared her (jade was much more discreet but that’s not the point)

a bit later in the song she sings ‘angel of music you have deceived me’ and i LOVE how it timed up when i read it. and she goes about how ‘she gave her mind blindly’

cause that’s EXACTLY what happened. jade played and deceived reader like she was a piece on a chess board. she literally let him into her mind because she wanted floyd so badly. he literally took over her mind as her thoughts slowly started contain less floyd and more of jade.

also, in the way he deceived her; jade never was going to help them with floyd, and made that ‘contract’ under false pretenses cause this was him making his attack. (ambush hunter, and you know that man was cooking shit up for months too, maybe it got sped up when reader wanted a job at monstro)

(this song also came again when reader and jade were in the ocean 🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻 and ARGGHHH. i’m gonna lose my sanity im in love)

but also. the song before this is literally ‘the point of no return’ and reader the floyd part while listening to it was just spine chilling. but the icing on the cake for me was the medley 🤤

sorry for the long ask, but i just- i’m literally in love with your writing, the planning that goes into is just awe-inspiring. i love how you give us readers things at face value before revealing smthn HUGE but if you go back and reread you’re like ‘how the FUCK did i miss that’, or when everything gets packaged in a nice little bow (so coquette 🤭🎀)

And you're right!!! Jade was never going to help you get closer with Floyd. He was willing to entertain and enable your obsession, but that's as much as he'll do. He's just in it for his own benefits and to hopefully twist your perception so that you might fall for him instead. He really was cooking that plan up months in advance. T^T what an evil eel... Apologies for the hyperactivity tonight but I do be experiencing a multitude of emotions these days

Anyways aaaaaa i finally got to see my favourite kunqu (bruh autocorrect tf) opera actor tonight. This do be one of those moments where I loath the potato resolution of my phone camera

Like it blew my mind especially when I hear him sing, like wow that sing-song melody really is his voice....This is a real person who has perfected and memorized all these tones and gestures and movements and performed them to such meticulousness....(小明真的就是演的很稳很稳啊）

I didn't take pictures during the performance since the theatre is very strict about it (and also ENJOY the performance).

The process to get autographs afterwards though was a lot, but he was so close.....omg.....that's him......

I was also reeeeally surprised by how fast they change out of their costumes and makeup, like it was less than 20 minutes between the curtain drop to them exiting the backdoor.

BUT YOOOOOO I GOT AUTOGRAPHS FROM BOTH TWO ACTORS!! 不仅施夏明老师单雯老师的签名也拿到了！！呜呜呜有生之年

SCREAMSSS YESSS I think the only way he’d be able to communicate his feelings for you would be between the insufferable practice sessions you have… you both have a big concert coming up and you’re seeing him more than just weekly to practice your new routine to perfection, so its unfortunately harder to avoid him because you can’t, you have to stick around because you need his feedback so you can work together in sync!! So he’s apologising for keeping you out so late and insists he takes you out to eat, after-all it’s his fault for not being able to settle for the tune you composed until it was perfect down to the very last note… and he hates having debts!! Also here are my notes. Not all of them make sense anymore but some do lol.

So we all know i love musicals and thats why i chose this topic. i knew from the beginning that i wanted to do smt with musicals for this but i wasnt sure whT to chose. I was debating doing the portrayal of death in musicals but nit all of you answered in time whether thya would trigger anybody so that was out. The second option was costumes in musical whoch wooild make sense for us as fashion forst graders but then u realised i could include that in this.

Now obviously there isnt one way to make a good musical and its always a matter of opinion. And while i do have an opinion, i tried to form a critical opinion on everything.

Theres a lot of stuff that goes into musicals. When you think of a good one you may think of one with good lyrics or a cool story. But theres also stuff that you don’t think of at first, that alone couldn’t’make’ a good play, but in combination are the most important parts! Like the light design >insert rest of agenda.< (kannst einfach ablesen, was auf der folie steht!)

story wise i think heathers did a great job. Heathers is about a girl who falls in love with a killer. Ups and downs, and just a generally creative and good story with a good and,,more or less sense-making plot. The layout is very good too: a great hook, some happy stuff, scary and then things go down with a bittersweet ending. Im not sure how to explain what makes a good or a bad plot but for reference imma give you cats in comparison as an example of a not so good plot

Talking lyrics, i dont need to think twice to tell you hamilton! Its about alexander the great and his life. There is no way to convince me of anything else. Its a peotic masterpiece which especially brings out alexander hamitons own lyrical genius. Lin Manuel Miranda is a great fan of motifs and mass rhymes, and methaphors. His stylisation is nit only unique but really really good!

but I honestly didn’t like the choreo: it was sloppy and ensemble based. They were just rearranging furniture and stuff. There was only one song, “Satisfied” that was choreographed well. i do however think that westside storry has an awesome choreo! Westside story is about racism and separation between gangs in the 1960’s new york city. It tells storry but it’s still dancing. Good dancing i mean. They mixed elements of ballet with hip hop, flamenco and countles other kinds of dancing and it came out with perfection

and while the tunes are awesome there, there are better ones. Like Rent. But even better: hadestown. A modern retelling of the story of greek mythology god orpheus and his love interest euridacy. The tunes are everything there! It captured the mood and it was,,, seductive to your ears! The orchestra and composer did a great job! Its not easy to make all instruments work with each other so well. Or in the hights! Awesome composition!

yk what else is great about in the hights? The mood! It has ups and downs. An awesome balance thats brought acroos awesomely! Some would argue that SIX is by far the play with the best mood and don’t get me wrong SIX also has a great mood but i dont think they found a good balance for that. The mood is almost exclusively positive for what its worth and it didnt have enough variety

while its not like in the heights had the chance to, they still didn’t have the greatest costumes… however six didn’t have the chance either, but they still did it. They’re original and iconic and make the characters! Six tells the story of the six wives of henry the eighth who were divorced, beheaded, died, divirced, beheaded and survived. Of course there goes a lot into costume making which makes this even better Theres a lot to concidder:

-fabric

And then of course the require some necessary qualities like

-quickchanges

-dancable

-rechognise characters (especially when one actor plays several) and set the ensemble apart

-makes no noises OR make specific noises

-You need to concidder the period in which the play takes place, and clothes aren’t the only complicated part of costumes: wigs/ hair and makeup or facepaint can make a whole look!

And the kind of musical can also influence the kinds of costumes. Some examples are

Types/ways of costumes (I tried to make this as few categories as possibles possible)

- Interpretation Starlight express, (where trains and cars wore roler skates), tarzan, and lionking? Possibly? I feel like lionking could be a category of its own though to be honest

- made into outfit:: spongebob, Arielle/the little mermaid, (starlight express)

- Actually just costumes: cats, Shrek, beauty and the beast or wicked

- Inadequate: six

- Portraying: into the woods and parts of starlight express

- Simplified: hamilton

- using the stage: illinois, ride the cyclone

then theres storry telling for which i say cats. cats… which is quite ironic. Cats is about…. Well… cats

They could have done better but i still think it’s the best there is! They TELL their storry. Like in six exept they actually have a present that like,, exists. The lyrics alright i guess but the composing could have had a little more variety, however i did love the stage there as well because it was always the same but still did awesome stuff like the train thingy

talking about stages! I think the stage is such an important part thats often overlooked. There are musicals like dear evan hansen, the prom, be more chill or tuck everlasting that have a variety of different sets with self driving probs but it’s just actually different things and not very creative. There are two versions of good stages. One that take you in the setting, but that only works if your setting is a special place. There are many musicals that made this one very well. My top two are frozen on ice and tarzan they are actually in an icepit with icedanging and stuff and in tarzan they swing around like actual monkeys and spray you with water and stuff. The second type is when there is one element thats used through the whole show and that makes the setting. This is also called a Uni-set. One of the best examples for this is probably the grey cube: Falsettos. It’s about aids and judaism (?)

But whats part of the stage design is the light design which is overlooked even more than the stage itself. I know i said said that i didnt like the stage of dear evan hansen but it does have an awesome light design! In general the technical aspects and also the sound design there is really good! Dear evan hansen is about a boy who pretends to have been friends with a kid that recently passed.

then theres what i call the manipulation aspect which is choices that were purposely made but not pointed out. I think that hamilton did a great job here too. A lot of people talking at once when to much is going on in his life and only him talking when he makes the dumbest decision in his life. Walking in straight lines when thinking simple and good but in circles when it’s complicated and a lot. That sort of stuff.

the last aspect is performance. Its hard to rate this since for stage musicals the actors and therefore the performance changes constantly but i think the original tuck everlasting cast did a great job! Tuck everlasting is about a girl, Winnie, who meets an immortal family

something that i honestly probably shouldnt count but gives bonus points is: every musical should have at least one singer tht seems to not even be able to miss a tune if they tried. Sure all singers should be good i love when theres just this one over the top adelle level person. The greatest showman has one and its epic, like,,, goosbumbs throughout the whole song “never enough” with the swedish nightingale. The greatest showman is about Pineas Barnum- an actual guy- who believed in true happiness and that as long as a smile is real, it doesn’t matter if the ‘cause’ of that smile is. He was the reason for the saying “freakshow”

however those are only the best in their aspects but if you’re asking what the BEST MUSICAL IS I definitely say Newsies! im not saying that because i like it -which i do- but actually critically thinking!

Newsies is a Musical based on the newsboys strike of 1899 where the Newsies working for the World and the Journal held the first ever successful strike in america that was organised by kids in history. The story centres Centers around a Newsboy Jack Kelly and his new friend Davey. They start a strike against the owners of the Newspapers and stop selling because they raised the prices for the papers even tho they have more than enough money, when the Newsboys barely make a living. Davey tries to talk him out of it at first but doesn’t succeed. Eveantually he gives in and actually gets really invested in the strike himself in the end.

Now your prolly thinking: why? Well. This presentation is far from over. (That was a lie. Its almost done dont worry)

Lyrics are honestly great! I have zero complaints about that. If anything, i have complements! Sure, its not as good as Mirandas works but, lets be honest: what is? I think the lyrics were still more than A+! The story is simply great. i personally think its harder to make something that already exists or happened into a storry. It requires much more creativity despite already having a ‘template’ you have to make the whole thing fit and make sense with your own thing and still be accurate and theres a lot about this actually. Newsies did great with that! It’s composed geniusly too. Menken/Ortega outdid himself by far with it. The choreo? Bombastic! Don’t even get me started. Prolly the best I’ve even seen! And I‘m not just saying that. I actually don’t think i’ve ever seen anything choreographed this well before. They have dance breaks in songs, DESPITE DANCING THE WHOLE TIME anyways

The mood was great but it had a balance! It was introduced with a good mood, making u invested but still,,, deep and sad.

While the costumes aren’t too original they’re definitely iconic and not too bad.

Story telling is fantastic! There are some talking to yourself/the audience and telling the story! Some telling it WITHIN the plot (which they did a gooood job making it seem natural and not forced info) and some middle grounds. I really liked it. They also blurred the lines there perfectly.

Stages! I love using newsies as an example for a good stage because they have BOTH kinds of a good stage! (sorta) its one element that is rearanged to make a whole different setting. They only needed some little elements that weren’t always the same. Add a few tables and chairs? Diner. Ad fancier chairs? Pulitzers office. Typewriter? Boom! Editors office. I also think that the metall stuff did a really good job reminding u where and when exactly this is taking place and that that combination of time and place: lower manhattan in 1899 wasnt the best mix of time and place to live in so that sorta counts for the first type.

We dont even need to talk about the “manipulation” aspect bc i wouldnt even know where to start. Im not even sure it was all on purpose. What character has what choreo, the double meaning of some things, the reprises, the rhymes and so much more

They have medda and jeremy jordan as jack kelly so they have not one but TWO of those perfect singers!

And Ive honestly never seen a bad performance of newsies . So yes. Chritically, Newsies is the best musical

“NESS!!” Abby screamed. She rushed into the diner as the sky grew dark. Vanessa followed her in pursuit. The waiter, now known as Ness, stopped cleaning and waved at them.

“Hey guys! You here for some food or-” Before Ness could finish, he took notice of the short man being carried in Vanessa’s arms. “Oh. Oh no.” He rushed over to the two, the counter he was cleaning now being long forgotten.

“We- We were just at the pizzeria and- and-” Abby stuttered out while Vanessa laid Mike down in an unused booth near the trio. Ness looked over to Mike before rushing to Abby to comfort her.

Ness pondered what she meant by pizzeria, but decided to go with a statement first rather than a stress inducing question. “Hey hey! It’s alright. I’m sure whatever happened was in NO means your fault.” He ushered. Bending down to be her height and resting a hand on Abby’s shoulder to ground her. Ness swears he could see her smile sadly before quickly going back to a worried expression.

Vanessa walked over to the two and asked Ness something. “Hey do you by anyyyyy chance. Know a pizzeria by the name Freddy’s…?” Ness stared at Vanessa like he had been waiting for a question like this to be asked to him for his entire life. He immediately stood back up before responding.

“DO I know Freddy’s!? DO I?! Vanessa. I’ve been making theories about that place longer than Abby has probably been alive. Trust me. I know that place like the back of my hand.” Ness said with assurance.

Vanessa looked at him. “Well. Mike happens to work as a security guard there and… As you can tell something… Bad… Happened.” She grimaced at the memory as Ness looked at her in confusion.

“I uhm… understand that place doesn’t really have a good history but what in HELL happened there for you two to show up in front of Sparky’s?!” He stood back to get another glance at Mike before adding, “Sorry. The three of you.”

“Ness. I know it might seem strange but seriously it’s better if we just don’t explain it to you-…” Abby then cut off Vanessa before she could finish what she was saying.

“Me Vanessa Mike and all my friends were having some fun when all of a sudden my friends froze up and shut down. I get all upset because what the heck!! Anyways. Next thing I know they are like- vomiting smoke from their mouths?? Mike tells me and Vanessa to run for some reason and so we do obviously and Vanessa shuts the door. She opens it a second later though and Mike is on the ground passed out!! Also all my friends are gone so that sucks.” She frowned as she finished her long info-dump.

Ness stared at the younger Schmidt in absolute shock. Vanessa shared a similar look on her face. “So… Abby… you're telling me ‘your friends’ drugged mike..?” Ness tried his best to control himself so he doesn’t seem like he’s yelling in front of Abby.

Abby shook her head to signify a ‘yes’ as Ness sighed. “I mean… she is telling the truth.” Vanessa said bluntly. Hoping to make the situation less awkward. Her efforts didn’t really help though. So she tried something else. Humor. “Hey! Maybe you could try kissing him!”

Ness stared at her in absolute confusion. His face seemed to be blushing but only Abby really noticed. “…You know… True love’s kiss and all..?” Ness’s face grew a brighter red color as he thought about it.

“Isn’t that severely impractical…!?” Abby laughed at Ness’s blushing. Ness got more embarrassed when Vanessa even decided to join in on Abby’s loud giggling.

“C’mon I see you blushing like an idiot! Have some fun. It’s not like it’s gonna work? But if you chicken out just kiss him lightly on the cheek or something…” The waiter looked at Vanessa in disbelief.

“I have NEVER ‘chickened out.’” He said with fake anger before adding. “But uh- Maybe I will. Tonight.” Vanessa groaned as Abby laughed at her action. Repeating it with a more exaggerated feel.

“Anyway. I’m gonna go rob your company's fridge now. Wanna come Abb’s?” Vanessa felt her pockets to make sure she had everything with her before looking over to Abby to see what her answer was.

She found Abby aggressively nodding. “Yes please!” Vanessa smiled as she took Abby’s hand gently into hers for safety before leading her out into the Sparky’s storage room.

“WAIT YOU DON’T EVEN-” The pair walked off before Ness could finish. He still continued to add. “-Know… Where it is…” The waiter sighed as he turned over to the booth Mike was sleeping near. Ness became completely entranced by how soft Mike seemed. Almost, at peace. In a sense.

Ness breathed in and out. ‘Maybe… One try couldn’t hurt? Right?’ He thought as he straightened his uniform and brushed off his shoulders for any dust particles that might have fallen on him.

Vanessa and Abby peered from the doorway of the storage room. Vanessa pointed it out to Abby while whispering “Plan G: Get Ness to finally own up to his crush on Mike is a go!” Abby smiled as she watched the scene play out.

See, Abby and Vanessa KNOW they could’ve just brought Mike to a hospital and BOOM. But, Vanessa examined Mike for any wounds and came to the realization that nothing had really happened. Mike had just passed out from the gas. Her and Abby decided to use this hurdle as an advancement in their end goal. Ness and Mike FINALLY getting together. Mike and Ness together and ready for Plan G. Though, Vanessa and Abby would have NEVER expected Ness singing to be part of their plan!

“Don't freak out, it's okay

'Cause true love can save the day

And I think we feel the same

But I don't know..”

Ness danced around the room as he sang, and Vanessa and Abby watched in complete surprise. They knew Ness was a little bit of a theater kid but- They never knew it was THIS BAD.

“When we met, it was sweet

Seems like things are meant to be

But I don't know.”

Ness took off his apron he had been using to save his uniform from the substances he used to clean. He placed it on the other end of the booth and looked down on Mike. His face flushing just by the sight of him. He quickly broke the gaze and continued.

Do I love him?

And is it strong enough?”

Abby and Vanessa shared a quick and quiet high-five as they saw Ness. Sharing their victory even though it may have been too early to celebrate.

To get his mind off of Mike, and also to prepare himself for what he was about to convince himself to do, Ness finished cleaning the diner. Putting back on his apron for a second before finally getting it over with putting everything away. Of course he still hit some dance moves while he was getting ready.

Ness went back in to try a second time, they always say second time's the charm- right? But while doing so Mike moves again. Ness quickly grew frustrated.

“Here I go!

The Sparky’s waiter slowly put his lips ever so softly onto Mike’s. Vanessa and Abby cheered (for real this time) as Ness had finally done it. After a few seconds, he let go and rose back up. Feeling kind of stupid at the fact he sort of expected something to happen.

Suddenly, as if god had heard what Ness was thinking, Mike woke up in a cold sweat. He looked up and stared at Ness. Who stared back with just the same amount of shock. Even Vanessa had a surprised expression that had situated itself on her face.

Abby was smiling while Vanessa gazed in awe. She knew the kiss would work the whole time. After all, fairytales never lie! Everyone should know that.

“What… What happened.” Mike asked with fear, lacing his voice. He didn’t get an answer though. Just a few more minutes of panic induced silence before Ness yelled.

“WHAT THE FU-”
