Thinking about the grand generals as kids and every time I remember how close Soma and Tatsuomi used to be I become :') bc they're so distant now... they were already starting to slowly drift apart at 14 / a few weeks after the soul test, but afterwards the difference in strength must've been as obvious as Akihiro's and Haruhisa's was bc from then on we saw in extras that Tatsuomi wasn't even able to put a dent on boulders while every red soul shattered them to smithereens, and considering the context (post-war, the five of them becoming captains and having no one to lean on other than themselves)... as terrible as it sounds, I doubt Soma felt he could afford to waste his time training with Tatsuomi any longer when it was obvious that'd get him nowhere

Talk about character development, being the protagonist of Kuro, Seb went through quite a development.

We started off with an uncaring asshole demon who thinks he's above puny little humans, including his own master (to be fair, Ciel is tiny, but that's not the point here).

And even in the Circus arc, he was still mocking Ciel.

Basically, he was saying that he would protect Ciel from life or death situations, but other than that, Ciel is on his own, most especially if the injury was caused by Ciel's own mistake. He has no qualm about putting Ciel in harm's way, and he even enjoyed it.

But then, the asthma attack happened and I think this is the first turning point for Seb - even if he didn't realize it back then.

So, why is that? Because for once, he couldn't save Ciel. Ciel got an ashtma attack and there was absolutely nothing that Sebastian could do. He could only wait it out. And this is also when Agni told him about putting Ciel's well-being above his orders. At that moment, he might've brushed it off & Soma's presence might've made the whole thing seem more lighthearted, but that comment stayed with him anyway.

That's why he started carrying that physician book that we see later on in the Green Witch arc. He didn't need to carry it with him everywhere, but he did anyway.

Next, of course we have the Campania arc, where Seb almost lost Ciel to UT. It was at this moment that he realized that there was a real possibility of him losing Ciel, that there was someone out there who can best him and take the boy from him. He started to worry, to pay closer attention and ee got this small detail...

Well, he looked just as concerned as the other two. The widening of his eyes, the slight panicked look, Ciel had fooled him and gave him a little PTSD moment just as he'd fooled Agni & Soma. And even back in Campania, he made a light comment about Ciel's asthma, but Ciel brushed it off because of Lizzy.

In the next arc, Ciel got hurt playing cricket and we got this...

The only reason he didn't go into panic was because that part was already planned. Was he happy about it? No. That's why he scolded Ciel while holding him securely. Like, what kind of professor would carry their fallen cricket student off the field like so? Or for those who know, a butler to make that kind of face at his master? I'd love to see Lizzy's reaction, but I digress...

Next, they encountered UT again and Sebastian, fuelled entirely by his fear, panic, and imagination, went against Ciel's order and prioritized Ciel's life and that resulted in this famous scene...

And then, Green Witch happened and oh, boy... This arc is the greatest turning point for Sebastian.

Once again, Seb was put in a situation where he couldn't save Ciel on his ownz where he was forced to stand aside and watch as others took care of his little master.

Just look at his face... His shock and dismay that Ciel had rejected him and had clung to Finny instead. He did not like it. Not at all.

Another look at rejected Sebas... He just stood there by the door, tormenting himself. He knew Ciel would reject him, but he just wanted to know how his little master was doing.

And then this...

This, imo, is a very important moment. Sebastian, who sees himself as above humans, has lowered himself in front of Sieglinde, and begged her to save his master. He even offered to do whatever Sieglide wanter him to do in exchange for that. Basically, he's offering his service without a cost or a contract.

The other servants talked about this later on, but Tanaka corrected them. Sebastian did not 'play around' with Sieglinde, it took a lot for a demon like him to do this. And nobody told him to do this. He took the initiative, acted on his own accord when his master was otherwise unavailable.

This, here, is one of the biggest proofs of his character development. The old Sebas would never, ever do this.

"But he tried to eat Ciel later on!" Did he, really? I had another post that talked about that.

Moving on...

The next time Ciel was injured, we got this...

What's so amusing about this scene is that he didn't have to jump out of a moving carriage. He could've just told the coachman to change ditection, but no, again, in his panic, he has acted impulsively.

Of course, I'm looking at this from a shipper's POV, but even if you don't ship them, you must admit that the demon has gone through quite the character development throughout the manga. He went from a mere hungry demon who sees himself above his master to 'Sebastian'.

suna rintaro here. my girlfriend, y/n, is being distant today and i don't know why. let me tell you about what happened.

we were supposed to have our separate zooms with her on my lap, but she left to a different room near the very beginning. she tried to play it off with "i have a pop quiz and i need to focus. can't have my grade drop just because i can't focus on your lap with your zoom in the background," but we all know that that is absolute bs. she could've focused on my lap just fine, and we all know that failing a 10-point pop quiz from chiahara-sensei happens to the best of us. and if you're wondering, i am the best of the best.

then, after we both finished our annoyingly long 1.5 hour lectures, (well she claimed hers was in fact a 40-point pop quiz/test but it def wasn't) she refused to cook together. she said something like, "rin, you burned yourself last time, remember? go sit down," but that, too, is bs. yes, i spilled hot water on my sweats last time i tried to make pasta, but it was on my knee, so it wasn't like it was a big deal anyways. i don't know why she kept making excuses.

then, after we finished eating the meal she cooked without me, she had the audacity to get on a zoom call when i didn't have one. and after that terrible offense, she refused to sit on my lap for it AGAIN. she said that inuzuka-sensei was always more strict about what we wore in zooms, and i wouldn't get away with no shirt on like soma-sensei let me. when i told her that her body would block mine, she said that my chest and shoulders would still be perfectly visible. then, she guilted me by saying that she didn't want other girls to see my "perfectly toned abs," as she called them. AND THEN she had the impudence to TEASE ME and LIE TO ME by telling me my cheeks and ears were getting red! couldn't believe her.

then, after all our classes were over, she refused to cuddle with me because APPARENTLY her friend's sister a block down rolled and sprained her ankle, and that it was getting pretty bruised and swollen. she also added that her friend didn't have any advil or experience in injuries, and apparently she was asked to bring some advil, a compression bandage, and a couple ice packs. when i told her that her friend could just buy some and that she could get her own ice pack, she tried to get out of it by telling me that her friend's sister was only 5, was bawling her eyes out, refused to be left alone but also screamed louder when she was picked up, and that we also had a lot to spare because we have a ton of supplies in the closet because of my constant volleyball injuries. again, absolute bs. her friend could just go grab everything herself. what did it matter that the kid was crying? fuck kids! do you know how funny those youtube videos of kids getting hurt and crying are? people enjoy them for a reason. it's because kids are annoying as hell and it's fun to watch them get injured. im subscribed to like 10 of those kinds of channels. her friend is literally getting free entertainment and y/n obviously just wants to watch the free entertainment WITHOUT ME because she'd rather be with her stupid friend than me.

-The newest purple warrior is a wonderful big brother-

"Since Miyazawa-san joined, has there been any changes in the atmosphere on set?"

Hayama: So far, Satoru-kun's been the one pulling us along as the oldest, but now he's here and helping us from a different approach, and I feel as though we've gained an older brother that we can rely on. I feel that the atmosphere on set has become much more tense.

Suzuki: When the five of us are together, we become noisy like a bunch of students, as we're always excited all the time (laughs). In a good way, for the times when Zawa-kun says, "I'm gonna do this here," he snaps into it an instant. When we're having fun, he does his best to enjoy the same atmosphere as us, and it makes me think, "We've got a wonderful big brother."

Saito: I feel that the atmosphere has become more tense, but I also feel that BoonViolet is really cool and strong, and that he's caused everyone's competitive spirit of "I can't lose" to start emerging alittle. Of course, we get along well.

Iuchi: Up until now, I used to watch the scenes of the other four and think, "That was good just now, I wanna steal it," but now that Yu-kun's here, I feel like I have more opportunities to learn. Sakito himself is completely different from the characters that have appeared in Boonboomger so far, and since Yu-kun's also had work in stage plays, things like his vocalization, the way he stands, and the way he moves are completely different from anything I could've imagined. I'm always learning whenever we're together

Suzuki: Zawa-kun, what's with the face? (laughs).

Miyazawa: I'm just happy.

Iuchi: It's because everyone's praising him.

Suzuki: What do you want to do about this?

Miyazawa: Hmmm, wanna go out for yakiniku after this?

All 5: Yeah!

"(laughs). How about Soma-san? He was the oldest until Miyazawa-san joined."

Soma: Only in appearance though, right? (laughs). I'd really rather not play the oldest character.

Suzuki: All you ever say is, "I don't want to be the oldest."

Soma: That's right. I don't really like being called the oldest. That's why I was grateful that he immediately took my place.

Miyazawa: I don't think I've taken your place. Please keep on being the oldest (laughs).

Hayama: Satoru-kun's also been the one leading us so far.

Soma: You think so?

Suzuki: It's more like Satorun looks out for everyone.

Iuchi: Right. He's something of a motherly figure.

Suzuki: I feel that Satorun is like a motherly big brother, while Zawa-kun's a big brother with some off vibes.

Miyazawa: Praising me will get you higher grade yakiniku.

Soma: Will each of us get two servings?

Miyazawa: Hang on, I'm the one footing the bill (laughs).

Soma: Let's go for four! (laughs).

"Did Miyazawa-san adjust to the team right away?"

Miyazawa: Joining a finished team itself was fine, as it's something that usually happens on the set of a regular drama. However, my only concern was that since we'd be working together for about a year, what if one of the five members had a personality that I don't get along with?

All: (laughs).

Miyazawa: But, on the day of my costume fitting, Ryu and Miu-chan came running over to me and asked, "What's BoonViolet like?"

Suzuki: Yeah, it was the first time we met the one playing BoonViolet.

Miyazawa: When I first greeted the five of them, I thought, "These guys are truly wonderful people!," and I still have that impression now. I can feel that everyone's having a good time, and I'm also enjoying the energy that I receive from them.

-The unanimously agreed upon person who has no gap between themself and their role is…?-

"Out of the six of you, who would you say has the biggest gap between them and the role they play?"

Miyazawa: Someone who's as far away from their role as possible you mean.

Suzuki: What should we do?

Hayama: Let's all point them out.

All: Ready, and, go!

(Iuchi-san points at Hayama-san, Suzuki-san points at Soma-san, and the other four point at Iuchi-san)

All: (burst out laughing).

Saito: Haruhi.

Soma: It's Haruhi.

Miyazawa: It can only be Haruhi.

Iuchi: Wait, what do you mean?

Hayama: You're a fool!

All: (laughs).

Iuchi: Wait, wait, hold on, who are you calling a fool? (laughs).

Hayama: Taiya himself is the leader of the other five members as BoonRed, however, the more I got to know the person named Iuchi Haruhi-kun, the more I found out that he wasn't all there.

Suzuki: Right, right.

Miyazawa: Haruhi's making an unhappy face (laughs).

Hayama: For the most recent episode, I told him, "We're going to film this now," but he had forgotten what it was about. I really feel that the gap between him and Taiya is huge (laughs).

Miyazawa: It was almost unanimously Haruhi.

Iuchi: No~……

Suzuki: Something like that happened before, didn't it?

Soma: The pepper mill incident.

Miyazawa: Yeah (laughs). I heard that for Miu-chan's birthday, everyone got her a pepper mill.

Suzuki: Yeah, I received it from everyone.

Miyazawa: When we were talking about it, I casually asked, "Haruhi, do you know what a pepper mill is?" He replied, "I know. It's a machine that squeezes out milk, right?"

Hayama: What the hell were you talking about? (laughs).

Iuchi: It's because it had "miru" in it (laughs).

Miyazawa: I said, "Did you give Miu-chan a pepper mill without knowing what it was?" He replied, "No?" I then asked, "Do you know what oatmeal is?" He said something like, "A fully automatic milk dispenser."

All: (laughs).

Hayama: Just like that, huh? (laughs). That's not it!

Iuchi: I thought "oat" meant "automatic," but I would've never guessed it was a food. (*the loanword for auto and oat are the same)

Soma: I guess "mill (miru)" takes over as "milk (miruku)" every time, huh?

Suzuki: Sure seems like it (laughs). Well, to put it simply, he's an idiot.

Iuchi: No!

Miyazawa: He himself didn't want to talk about this story publicly, but I will.

Hayama: He's cute, isn't he?

Suzuki: So cute.

Iuchi: My secrets are being revealed one after another……I'm not an idiot! Please treat me well (laughs).

"(laughs). Suzuki-san was pointing at Soma-san, while Iuchi-san was pointing at Hayama-san."

Suzuki: I'll be honest, I've been watching Haruhi-kun for a long time, so I've grown accustomed to seeing him like that (laughs). Of course, there's a gap between him and Taiya, but it's become established that it's apart of him. Genba often doesn't put everything he's thinking into words, but Satorun's the opposite and talks alot!

Soma: That's for sure (laughs).

Suzuki: Even when everyone else wants to take a short nap during film breaks, Satorun seems to have the type of body that prevents him from sleeping, so he'll wake us up by starting "Soma Satoru Radio."

Miyazawa: We're like, "It's begun today as well."

Hayama: He'll do it at random.

Miyazawa: Satoru-kun will sometimes talk to us in a strange way, right? He's like, "Where'd you put the engine now?"

Suzuki: That! I know what you're talking about!

Iuchi: That's true. I was also torn between choosing Satoru-kun, but I thought it had to be Yuki-kun.

Suzuki: (Looking at Hayama) Hey, don't look so happy!

Saito: He's got a face that says, "I love it."

Iuchi: Just like what everyone said about me, the more I talked to him, the more I saw different sides of him. I got to know Yuki-kun through filming, and I realized that he's far from the cool Chasshiro. However, Chasshiro himself is a character with a pretty big gap, so I think he fits the role very well.

Miyazawa: I think I know what you mean about Yuki's gap.

Hayama: It doesn't upset me. (In a bold tone) Thanks.

Suzuki: We don't mean it as praise. It's just a question of if there is or isn't a gap (laughs).

Iuchi: Be careful not to give Yuki too much praise (laughs).

"On the other hand, who would you say is the one with the smallest gap?"

Suzuki: What do we do? Have everyone point again?

Iuchi: I guess so.

Soma: Ready, and, go!

(All of them point at Saito-san)

"Amazing, it was unanimous (laughs)"

Iuchi: He also pointed at himself.

Saito: When I first received the proposal and saw Jou's setting, I thought, "It's me."

All: (laughs).

Saito: It was so much like me that I thought, "Is it really a role?," even my manager asked me, "Was it written for you?" (laughs). I've also admired heroes since I was little, and the fact that he's abit clumsy is a good fit for me. I have a strong sense of responsibility, like how I was always class president during my school years.

Miyazawa: You were?!

Hayama: And the class didn't fall apart?

Saito: It was properly kept together! (laughs).

Miyazawa: Did you ever say (slang) stuff like, "Wassup!" with everyone?

Saito: I've done that, and was told off for it (laughs). Also, for some reason, I was popular with the mothers in my community, and at my high school graduation, I took lots of pictures with the mothers of my classmates.

Suzuki: You did?!

Soma: Not with your classmates?

Saito: I thought I'd be asked by my classmates, but I was approached by mothers, ones who I didn't know, and they'd asked me, "Can I bother you for a picture?" The fact that I was popular among those in the parent age group feels abit similar to Jou.

Suzuki: Jou's hot blooded and loud, while Ryu-kun's the same way, he can't even whisper.

Saito: That's true.

Suzuki: It's not that his natural voice is loud or anything, it's just that his voice is always loud. Even when he shouldn't be speaking so loudly, his voice is so clear that I wonder if he's talking to someone 10 meters away (laughs).

Saito: That's why I can't keep secrets.

Iuchi: In a roundabout way, I think that's a good thing.

Miyazawa: It's kind of adorable, isn't it? Jou's friendliness is just like Ryu-kun's. He normally calls out to me with "Zawa-nii," but when he comes into my personal space he's like, "Zawa-nii, Zawa-nii."

Saito: I'm sorry (laughs).

Miyazawa: No, no! I think it's a really good thing. I don't know why, but I think it's really wonderful that he's developed this kind of personality, it's like I could forgive him regardless of if he's Jou or Saito Ryu.

Suzuki: No matter what he does, you can't hate him.

Soma: It's like, "Because it's Ryu."

Suzuki: That's it.

Iuchi: I was going to say that.

Saito: I'm so happy!

-A film overloaded with special elements-

"We'd also like to ask about the film, what was the most memorable scene from either the script or filming?"

Miyazawa: I feel that the real thrill of the Super Sentai series is when the six of us are able to accomplish something together. When I read the script, I realized that kind of scene with Sakito hasn't happened in the main story yet, so I was really looking forward to filming it.

Hayama: It wasn't my scene, but I was impressed by the fact that Mira plays an active role. Surprisingly, Mira playing an active role in battle hasn't been depicted in the main story yet.

Suzuki: Tell me about it! I'm always paired up with someone.

Hayama: I felt that it was refreshing, and as Chasshiro I thought, "I can count on her."

Suzuki: I was also very happy to feel the growth of Mira in the scenes with princess Nicola. If you've been watching since the first episode, I think you may feel alittle emotional when you see her, thinking, "That Mira is……"

Saito: I remember thinking it'd be very interesting from the moment I read the script, not only because of Mira's growth, but also because of the resurrection of the Kurumaju and our special self introductions. Especially for the self introductions, I was so excited I thought, "Wow, now this is a film!"

Soma: When I first opened the script, seeing that "HIKAKIN-san is here!" really surprised me.

Miyazawa: Yeah, you're right!

Soma: In the main story, it's often stated that, "This is the main character of this episode," but in the film, there are moments when the focus is on each character. That made me happy, everyone had their own highlight, and I think we worked very hard on those areas.

Iuchi: When I found out that HIKAKIN-san was going to perform, I became uneasy. I've been watching HIKAKIN-san's videos ever since I started watching Youtube as a kid. Because of that, there was a kind of tension that felt different from usual, but I tried my best not to let it show. On set I told myself, "I don't know this guy, so I shouldn't be nervous."

All: (laughs).

Iuchi: Nevertheless I was still conflicted about my performance, as I felt like the person I admired was right in front of my eyes. Along with the appearance of extravagant guests, the film is full of action scenes, and the amount of information on screen and the camera work is something that's unique to the film. Make sure you go to the theaters and see it! _

The Great Space Invasion Running Team Hashiriyan

They've made numerous planets their territory and have attacked people to collect the negative energy "Ghassolin" generated from human screams. The first to arrive on Earth, the newest target of the organization, are the "Sanseaters" Decotrade, Itasha, and Yaiyai Yarucar, the three on site supervisors.

In an attempt to make the Earthlings scream, the Sanseaters create monsters called "Kurumaju" out of wedding dresses, saunas, koinobori, and all other kinds of things on Earth. However, the three of them are so harmonious, that it's hard to believe that they're evil, and they're not afraid to do anything out of the ordinary, such as showing themselves off on TV shows or getting involved with the abilities of a Kurumaju. While comical villains that are hard to hate are sort of a standard in the Super Sentai series, the Sanseaters have quickly gained the passionate support of fans.

The Sanseaters will also appear in Boonboomgers film, which will be released this Summer. Not wanting to lose to Demon Thunder, the Hashinriyan Catching Captain, they challenge the Boonboomgers in order to take all the credit! The Hashiriyans and Boonboomgers, come witness the greatest battle of all time in theaters!

"What were your first impressions of the Sanseaters, and what are you conscious of when playing Decotrade and Itasha?"

Ogura: I thought of the Doronbo Gang from "Yatterman" and Team Rocket from "Pokemon," and various other trios from popular anime that people may remember. In any case, I decided to just be cheerful and have fun.

Miyazawa: However, I never would've imagined that one of them was a car! (laughs).

Ogura: Yeah, there's one person who can't move so freely (laughs). Yaru-chan's got a bad mouth and will make your heart race.

Miyazawa: Yaru-chan, who'll just give it to you straight.

Ogura: He doesn't hold back, so if we're not careful, we could get hurt (laughs).

Miyazawa: (laughs). Still, thanks to Morohoshi Sumire-san's voice, he's simply adorable. When I play Itasha-chan, I try not to get knocked down, I try to survive in the story (laughs), and I'm making an effort to make her a beloved character.

Ogura: I may be conscious of being there naturally, without being bound by any form. It's like we're acting normally, but something seems to be alittle out of place.

Miyazawa: We're living at full power, at full speed.

Ogura: Yeah, we're enjoying life (laughs).

"Please tell us your impressions of each other's performances."

Ogura: Miyazawa's reaction to the performance is genius and interesting! I've never worked so hard with someone on a performance before, and I've been making suggestions and consulting with her on the spot, but her reactions are so funny. Sometimes I can't see what's going on at the set due to visibility, so when I watch the broadcast, I realize, "So this is the reaction she had!" It's really amazing, and I just feel like I need to go along with her.

Miyazawa: As for me, I also find Ogura-san's out of nowhere jokes very funny, and I find myself being like, "I'll do that too!" (laughs).

Ogura: I guess it's mutual. We may have some synergy.

"What are some of the fun parts about playing comical characters like Decotrade and Itasha?"

Ogura: That I don't have to be cool (laughs).

Miyazawa: That's right (laughs). We'll leave looking cool to the members of Boonboomger.

Ogura: Still, regardless of how people see us, we don't really intend on screwing around.

Miyazawa: Yeah, we're living seriously.

Ogura: We’re just being serious and following the script, but they’ve got alittle bit of something going on, you know? (laughs), in terms of their setting, we play an attractive role.

Miyazawa: That's right. In case you were wondering, they're good looking.

Ogura: While the Captains are fighting hard beside them, the Sanseaters are doing their best in their own way.

"What are the most memorable scenes that you've filmed so far?"

Miyazawa: I was surprised when we went to a sauna (episode 4).

Ogura: You don't go to a sauna in a costume...normally.

Miyazawa: At the time, I thought I was going to die (laughs).

Ogura: Also, I think we've been doing alot of cosplay lately. I don't know where they get their costumes from (laughs), but they seem to prepare outfits that suit the situation.

Miyazawa: Weren't the school uniforms our first cosplay? (episode 8).

Ogura: Yeah, that's right.

"At that time, they were costumes to trick all the Boonboomgers, except Taiya, and lock them in cages."

Ogura: Even though their faces are left unchanged (laughs), they think it's suitable to look like that.

Miyazawa: Surprisingly, the Boonboomgers were also fooled by the uniforms (laughs).

-Becoming beloved characters through the power of many people-

"Please tell us some of the highlights of the film."

Ogura: There's a part where the used Kurumajus appears. It made me think about all the monsters that've been created up until now. Alot of them appear, and I thought it was a gorgeous, cinematic experience right from the start.

Miyazawa: The circuit was also amazing, wasn't it? It was my first time being at one.

Ogura: Fuji Speedway, right? And, our car will also make its appearance there.

Miyazawa: Right, The Sanseater Car.

Ogura: I don't know how the completed footage is going to turn out, but we drove it hard, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it appears.

"The Sanseaters have also been seen riding the Boonboom Killer Robo in the TV series, so they're fortunate to have so many vehicles."

Ogura: That's right. We weren't even told that we were going to be riding in a Robo.

Miyazawa: The cockpit is much more luxurious too. It also has properly installed seat belts.

Ogura: Right. Normally, we don't have a fixed base, just a corner of a factory somewhere with some pots and a stove lined up (laughs). I didn't think they'd make a cockpit for us. It was incredible.

"The scene of them flying out of the blown up Boonboom Killer Robo in episode 14 also became a hot topic among fans."

Ogura: Now that I know we won't get hurt even if there's a big explosion, I think we'll be fine no matter what the situation is (laughs).

Miyazawa: We were promised that we wouldn't be leaving the show over something like that (laughs).

Ogura: The next morning, it was like nothing had ever happened (laughs). Relating to the Robo, I'll never forget the Bon Odori (episode 13).

Miyazawa: Yeah, we got the audio on the morning of the shoot.

Ogura: We had to come up with the dance within the same day (laughs).

Miyazawa: I was wondering if we'd have a choreographer or something, but all we had was the interesting audio (laughs). We came up with the choreography on the spot, didn't we?

Ogura: We were like, "What do we do? What do we do?" (laughs).

"That was quite a terrific story (laughs). In general, for your performance, do you often leave it up to someone else?"

Miyazawa: We leave most of the movements and acting up to them. If we overdo things, they tell us, "Hold on, stop" (laughs).

Ogura: Generally, things go bad atleast once (laughs).

"The Sanseaters should be proud that they haven't lost in popularity to the Boonboomgers, but how do you feel being loved so much by the fans?"

Ogura: It's thanks to the script that we've been able to enjoy acting, and I think the Voice Actors Suwabe Junichi-san, Mizuki Nana-san, and Morohoshi Sumire-san have added alot of charm to our performances.

Miyazawa: I would've never expected Mizuki-san to be the Voice Actor for Itasha-chan, it really surprised me.

Ogura: We have meetings in advance, but we also have the desire to, "Do something natural and appropriate for the situation," so we'd start adlibbing with Yaru-chan on set. The Voice Actors will see this and make it more interesting by doing things like inserting words where we haven't said them, or by adding a performance that's appropriate to the scene.

Miyazawa: We'd think, "They even put something in here."

Ogura: Yeah, I'm often surprised when I watch the broadcasts. I think it's really wonderful, and thanks to that, they've made our characters memorable to both the eyes and ears.

"Filming for the TV series will continue, but do you have any ideas for what you'd like to do as the Sanseaters in the future?"

Miyazawa: Someday, I'd like us to become friends with the Boonboomgers.

Ogura: Yeah! Once at the very least.

Miyazawa: I'd like to get to know them alittle better, it'd be fine even if it's just for one episode or something.

Ogura: That could be interesting. If that does happen, it'd make it harder to fight them in the next episode.

Miyazawa: Also, I'd like to do more cosplay.

Ogura: We've done quite abit so far, no? (laughs).

Miyazawa: You know, we get our cosplay costumes fit every single time (laughs). I'd be happy if we got something like a ski resort episode.

Ogura: Skiing?! I guess it'd have to be the right season.

Miyazawa: Just like Christmas and Halloween, there's tons of events in Japan (laughs).

Ogura: Neither of those events originated in Japan though (laughs).

"We're looking forward to seeing more cosplay in the future! Finally, please give a message to the fans."

Miyazawa: I'd like to continue to play the role of the cute Itasha-chan, and for the three of us to live happily together. I know I'm abit inexperienced (laughs), but please continue to take care of me.

Ogura: This isn't some wedding announcement (laughs). I'm happy to hear that everyone is enjoying what the three of us, including Yaru-chan have done together. However, it really wasn't only our efforts, but also those of the Directors, Scriptwriters, Staff, and Voice Actors that created characters that were so well received. As the three of us continue to work together, we'll do our best!

One thing about Soma that you found endearing was that he never did, or asked Agni to do anything, in half measures. No, if he was going to do anything or ask anyone else to do something, it was going to be at a hundred percent effort or nothing at all. Which was exactly why his sudden absence was so jarring to you. After all, you were his "Favorite Person", and thus one of the people he did his best to spend all of his time with. Yet for going on almost a week you hadn't seen him, even in passing. You'd over heard conversations of course, Soma wasn't a quiet person, and hadn't been for as long as you'd known him. And what you heard didn't exactly help what you were feeling. "Ciel, you don't understand, there's just something about them!" You'd heard Soma nearly sobbing through the study door and decided you could wait to talk to both of them until that, whatever it was, had been taken care of. "Agni, I can't take it anymore." You'd paused mid step outside the library when you heard him start. if something was bothering him you wanted to know, partly because he was a dear friend, and partly because you are nosey by nature, "Every time i spend time with Y/N it's just like -" He breaks into a sound that is somewhere between a groan and a scream and it made you hurt a little. There was no way to construe that sound other than being one of distress.

You retreated into your thoughts gradually. Had you done something wrong? Was there a reason Soma wanted to end your friendship? Why hadn't he said something? You've been friends since childhood, there had to be a reason he didn't tell you about this. Agni would probably tell you if you asked, as long as Soma hadn't made him promise not to. Unless of course the end of your friendship with Soma also ended your relationship with Agni, in which case he would be pleasantly evasive and you would remain in the dark. Going to Ciel or Sebastian was out of the question. Ciel tolerated you only slightly more than Soma, and Sebastian wouldn't tell you just to hold it over you that he knew something you didn't. Or, at least that was the feeling he gave off. Which ultimately left laying low and hoping this would pass like all of Soma's other low moods. None of that of course explained the weird questions you got asked by Sebastian and Agni throughout the week. Preferred drink with a long meal? Rose wine or a dark tea depending on what's being served. Favorite dessert? Anything sweet as long as it comes with coffee. Favorite music for a gathering? Anything upbeat but quiet enough not to impede the conversation. Any specifications for new clothes? Light colored and easy to move in please.

And then more nothing, at least from Soma and Ciel. The Phantomhive Servants seemed to be rushing to get something together for something big happening within the next few days. Meanwhile Agni didn't seem keen to let you out of his sight, especially when you were around Soma. Acting almost like a chaperone whenever Soma would ask for your attention and would struggle through a short conversation with you before panicking and rushing off. It was awkward, but cute. It reminded you of when you were growing up and he would have a crush on someone, though you were relatively sure he was just trying to find a polite way to say he wants nothing to do with you. Which he could do without Agni, it's not like you would start a fight just because Soma has outgrown you. It was bound to happen eventually. Has to grow up and be a royal, and well, you've got your job as a court musician. Which begs the question of what the hell you are supposed to do when Soma inevitably fires you.

Come Sunday you're startled awake by the sound of someone in your room. You open your eyes slowly while reaching for the knife you keep under your pillow just in case; a gift from Soma ironically enough; and then relax at the sight of Agni. You should have been surprised as it had been two weeks since the last time he had done something like this, but instead you found yourself overwhelmed by the familiarity of it. He waits to start speaking until you've sat sup some, a silent way of letting him know that you're coherent. "I've laid out your clothes for the day, they are for a party this evening so try to keep them clean." He opened the curtains as he spoke and you followed the trail of light down the bed to the outfit laid at the foot of your bed. It was a suit made of light, nearly pastel blue fabric with the suit vest being a darker blue than the over coat and pants, but lighter than the shirt. The suit coat caught your attention the most. It was a slimmer fit, which was something you preferred, the waist was close cut and the tailcoat to it flared out in layers almost like a skirt. You adored it. "The party will begin shortly after tea time and will include dinner and dancing."

You nodded slowly, "Okay. But why am I invited? I am not a member of the house, and it sounds like you already have a band to play..." "Soma wants you there." Agni replied as though it was that simple, "Don't be late, please, after so much planning I think it would leave him upset." Weird, but you could do that, "I was under the impression he didn't want me around anymore, but I'll be there." Agni smiled slightly, the same pleasant but tense one that he used when mediating your and Soma's arguments growing up, "You'll probably have to ask him about that. Now on to today's breakfast and morning tea..."

With something to look forward to, that wasn't trying and failing to improve Ciel's skills with a violin, the day seemed to pass in a blur. Soon enough it was time for the party, which was really less of a party and more of gathering of nobles and some music. In total it was you, Soma, Lizzy, and Ciel. With Ciel and Lizzy dancing and you and Soma standing awkwardly a part from each other. He would try to start a conversation, only to stop and sigh, then take a drink from his glass of something that smelled much stronger than the rose wine from dinner. He'd shoot a desperate glance at Agni, who would only shake his head. You were so fucking confused. After he got two drinks into his system Soma finally asked you to dance. It was less a dance and more you guiding him around the room to the music while he tried to keep his feet under him. He seemed content and almost pliant, so the last thing you expected was conversation. "Are you happy?" His voice came out right above your ear, because even drunkenly slouched he was still taller than you. "Is this okay?" "You know I always enjoy dancing with you So." You were aiming for reassuring, but it fell flat even to you, "This is perfect." He hums, and you know more is coming, "But are you happy, with the way things are now?" "Soma, I'm not sure what you're asking me?" You're gentle as you come to a stop so he won't fall, "Are you asking me if I'm happy that you avoided me like a plague rat for a week? Because honestly between that and what you said I'm hurt and confused."

Under any other circumstances you would have found the owlish way he blinked at you comical, but right now you could have slapped the confused look right off his face. Violence could wait for now though, you wanted answers. "I...." He sighed out his frustration and tightened his grip on you just slightly, "I was trying to figure out a way to confront this.... the feeling I get when I am around you." You quirked an eyebrow tilting your head in a way that encouraged to him to continue, "So I tried asking Ciel, but well, you know how he is. Then I went to Sebastian, and well.... that didn't go as planned. So then I went to Agni and he said to talk to you, and I tried that and i... couldn't say what I wanted to. SO i thought I would throw a party, try and recreate the night we first met but no one really wanted to come on such sort notice." "So how do you feel then?" You succeed only barely in keeping the laugh out of your voice. "I haven't drank enough to answer that yet." He answered, "Can I show you instead?" "Sure. If that's easier for you." You figured there wasn't much he would risk doing negatively in such a public setting. You weren't expecting to be on the receiving end of a strongly whiskey flavored kiss. Scenes/characters I expect to see after blue revenge arc

Just to clarify, with blue revenge arc I'm referring to this mission arc we currently have. I doubt r!ciel will be defeated after the missions are over so I will probably give it a different name whatever follows after we've seen o!ciel and sebastian at the hotel.

For obvious reasons I will exclude o!ciel and sebastian, they are literally the protagonists, ofc we will see them again. Undertaker and r!ciel will also be excluded since they are the major antagonists right now and will also definitely appear again.

So let's begin:

1. An interrogation scene between layla and the reapers

Remember that layla got captured by ronald and william? I definitely expect layla to make a return once she arrived in the shinigami corp. I'm not sure if I expect ronald to be there but william definitely will be and I can also see grell and othello watching since we haven't seen the two in quite a while

2. Another interrogation scene in scotland yard headquarters

Blavat got arrested and was supposed to be put into prison and later appear in court alongsides o!ciel but since he and sebastian already escaped, blavat is the only one in prison. Considering scotland yard just freshly captured blavat, an interrogation about his motives is to be expected

3. Some focus on the midfords

Lizzy is included as well (but that was the best picture I found). They obviously need to deal with the whole drama themselves and I definitely expect them to reappear and talk to each other about what they think about the twins drama and lizzys depression

4. Sieglinde and wolfram with their research and planning

Sieglinde still has the blood samples from the sphere music hall and surely must have read what happened in the newspaper. I don't think she will just sit by and do nothing for the rest of the manga, I'm certain they will appear again somehow

5. A reunion between the servants, lau and ran mao

Sebastian and o!ciel will probably be there too (or not depending on their mission) but I do expect those 5 to see each other again and exchange how their missions went. I think that's where they will find out that snake died

6. The queen and her servants

Girlie has been awfully quiet since the twin reveal and I wonder when she will appear again. R!ciel mentioned needing to hold a audience with her but being too weak right now so who knows when she will appear again. I do think it will happen somehow

7. The p4 reuniting

I don't think we will get something too big but I definitely think they will appear again. They were part of the sphere music hall so the police was on the lookout for them anyways. I do expect them to appear again and talk to violet since we haven't seen them reunite after blavat nearly killed violet

8. Soma focus (?)

Now I wasn't sure if I should include him since I'm pretty certain he will be in the hotel that o!ciel and sebastian will visit next. But if he isn't in the hotel then he will definitely still appear afterwards. That man can not completely dip after agni died and he still falsely believes it was o!ciel

9. Tanaka (maybe with the servants?)

Tanaka is still with r!ciel and undertaker but we haven't seen him in a good while. I do think we will see him again once yana finally shows r!ciel again. I theorize that maybe we will see some reunion between the servants and tanaka but that's probably something I just really want to see. I doubt tanaka will leave r!ciels side since he did say that he's forever serving the head/heir of phantomhive and o!ciel wasn't supposed to be

10. Some flashback with vincent

That smug bastard will appear, I know it. I'm pretty sure he must have done something to end up dead so I think we will get a focus on him in a potential flashback from r!ciel. Afterall since r! ciel was raised to be the heir, I'm certain he spent more time with vincent than o!ciel did and probably did catch a few things here and there. Maybe that would explain why r!ciel caught onto the fact that something was off much quicker than o!ciel did

That was my little theory on who/what I think will appear/happen in the next arc after the missions. Hope you liked it!

Soma is so interesting in the sense that... he's so tender and so indifferent at the same time. Out of the five grand generals he cares the least about Musashi and whether he lives or dies EVEN AFTER Musashi proves he's the Obsidian Goddess and Jisai's son (whereas Tatsuomi and Tsubasa, the other two coldest ones, both became close to Musashi bc of it) but he's also the one who'd be the most emotionally hurt if someone close to him were to get injured or killed (whereas Naotora saw Tatsuomi's blood pouring down a wall and heard he got killed but had no change in expression)

Summary: (Y/N), Sebastian, and Ciel create the perfect stage for Cole's downfall.

            In a single day, Soma achieved what he had been brought to Weston College to accomplish. He had followed Cole around, created such a mess with his elephant that Cole had to stay in his room, and then awoken when Cole snuck out of the room. (Now, that was not planned. Soma had just been very bad at directing the elephant on his own…) However, it had all worked out, and Soma had very important information to share with Ciel. He quickly came to Sapphire Owl to meet with Ciel. When he saw (Y/N) and Sebastian, he stared in surprise.

            “Welcome, Prince Soma,” said Sebastian, smiling. “The Young Master awaits you within.”

            Soma looked at Sebastian and (Y/N). “I thought we weren’t allowed to bring our servants along?!”

            “Let’s just say they have a very good reason for being here,” said Ciel.

            Sebastian and (Y/N) smiled at Soma, and he shivered at the dark look in their eyes. After the time they had reprimanded him, he was terrified of them whenever they got serious.

            “Prince Soma, we pray you will do use the great favor of keeping the fact that we are the Young Master’s servant to yourself,” said Sebastian.

            “If you let this fact slip…” (Y/N) tilted their head. “Well, I’m sure you won’t.”

            Soma shivered. “I-I-I won’t!”

            “So, have you found anything out?” said Ciel.

            “Oh, right!” said Soma, turning away from the intimidating demons. “You see, in the middle of the night, I caught him posting flower-shaped cards to Scarlet House members on the sly. And so many of them, too.”

            “Cards, you say?” said Sebastian. “Why, he’d be better off talking to them face-to-face.”

            “What a pity, he left a paper trail,” said (Y/N), smirking. “Anyone could use that to their advantage.” They intended to.

            “It seems we finally have a lead on some proof,” said Sebastian, pleased.

            “Now to decide on the best method for making it up to him,” said Ciel.

            “Oh, one more thing,” said (Y/N). They smirked. “I had an interesting discussion with Cole today between lessons.”

            Sebastian and Ciel looked at them.

            “Prince Soma, did Cole rise quite early to prepare himself for the day?” asked (Y/N).

            “He did,” said Soma, nodding.

            “Then my suspicions were correct,” said (Y/N), smiling. And so, they explained the latest trick of Cole’s, and Soma, Sebastian, and Ciel’s eyes widened.

            “Now all the pieces have fallen into place,” said Ciel.

            “Excellent finding, (Y/N),” said Sebastian, and (Y/N) straightened at his praise.

            “Thank you, Soma. You did good work,” said Ciel.

            Soma brightened. “You can count on me for anything! See you later!” he chirped before leaving the room.

            “Time for a strategy meeting, Sebastian, (Y/N),” said Ciel.

            “As you wish, sir,” said Sebastian.

            “I look forward to this plan,” said (Y/N).

            “We’ll settle this tomorrow,” said Ciel decidedly.

            “Mr. Noir!” said Cole, approaching (Y/N) as the rest of the students from their lesson filed out.

            “Yes, Cole?” said (Y/N), smiling pleasantly.

            “I had a question for you,” said Cole.

            “If it’s about the lesson, my tutoring hours are in the evening,” said (Y/N).

            “Oh, yes, but it’s not about the lesson.” Cole smiled brightly. “You’re such an excellent teacher that I understood instantly.”

            Attempting to flatter me. (Y/N) laced their fingers. That wouldn’t work on them. “Then what is it about?”

            “It’s about self-care,” said Cole. “It is important for one’s appearance to be always presentable as an aristocrat’s son. And, of course, putting your best foot forward is always expected.”

            “Of course,” agreed (Y/N) to draw Cole forward into whatever he’s trying to get at.

            “I was simply curious about what your routine for preparing for the day is,” said Cole, smiling. “You always appear so…fresh-faced, as if you’ve done nothing.”

            Ah, so he believes I use makeup. Which suggests… (Y/N)’s sharp eyes focused in on his appearance, and they were pleased when they noticed the slight hint of a gloss on his lips—not natural. So, that is how he appears as the “most beautiful boy in school.”

            (Y/N) was happy to crush his expectations. They smiled. “I simply regularly wash in order to keep clean and fresh.” True enough. As a demon, they could look as perfect as they wished no matter the circumstances.

            Cole’s smile turned tense. “Surely you must do a bit more.”

            “Cole, I would not lie to you,” said (Y/N) pleasantly. “I can assure you, I am telling the truth. After all, who would lie about such a thing?”

            Cole fought not to grit his teeth. “No one.” He nodded and plastered a soft smile on his face. “Well…thank you, Mr. Noir.”

            “Of course, Cole,” said (Y/N). “Goodbye.”

            Cole left the room, cursing the entire world. He was the prettiest boy in the school, and it always worked to his advantage in a place without women, and yet this housemaster arrived, young and attractive, and suddenly his monopoly on the school had changed. He despised it.

            But there was nothing he could do. And now that he had spoken to (Y/N), he had revealed yet another vulnerable. (Y/N) would use it to their full advantage.

            Sebastian and (Y/N) finished attaching the strings to the canvases in the art classroom. Ciel had convinced the P4 to give him a chance to redeem himself and set up the trap of sound, but he had left the actual preparation to (Y/N) and Sebastian outside of the gramophones in the gazebo.

            “Is everything ready? Cole will be arriving soon,” said Ciel, stepping into the room.

            “Yes,” said (Y/N), angling the final painting. “The sound will go directly to the Swan Gazebo and the P4.”

            “Good,” said Ciel. He grinned. He was going to have his revenge and get into the good graces of the P4 in a single move.

            (Y/N) and Sebastian left the room and hide close by incase the situation became too dangerous or extreme and they had to intervene. A few moments later, Cole walked into the art room, hands on his hips, and faced Ciel.

            “Well? What do you want with me?” said Cole. “You’ve called me to this room and all. I really must be getting to the Swan Gazebo, you know.”

            “I won’t take much of your time,” said Ciel. “I simply wanted to confirm a small matter. Cole. Regarding your summons to me the other day, it’s the message you conveyed was incorrect, after all.”

            Cole scoffed. “You’re still saying that? It’s not nice to blame others for your own mistakes.”

            “A friend confirmed it with our classmates,” said Ciel. “Since you’re the most fair-faced boy at school, Cole, the onlookers were many. By the way, eighteen students testified that you ‘mistakenly’ said ‘at four.’ No. To call it a mistake, a mere slip of the tongue, is itself a misleading. Because you allowed your tongue to slip on purpose.”

            “Hmph,” scoffed Cole. “What a false accusation indeed!”

            “In that case, how do you explain the incidents involving four other students, including Joanne Harcourt?” said Ciel.

            “Huh?” said Cole.

            “Of the students who were invited to the Swan Gazebo by the prefects, all who broke their appointment claim it was due to communication troubles with you,” said Ciel. “For a prefect’s drudge to cut down the weak as you’ve done goes to show just how much of a sly coward you are. Your actions are that of an outright liar! Moreover, you even leave your duties as a prefect’s drudge to other students.”

            “Whatever can you mean?” said Cole, rolling his eyes at the “ridiculous” accusation.

            “Compiling the data Redmond requested. Ironing and shoe polishing. Even the preparing of dishes…you haven’t done any of it yourself! Your competence is an utter shame!” declared Ciel.

            (Y/N) stifled a chuckle because Ciel, too, could not do his own chores.

            “What a wild fancy,” said Cole. “How can you claim all that when you haven’t any proof?”

            “Ah, but I do have proof.” Ciel smirked as he drew a pieced-together red scrap of paper.

            “Th-that’s—!” Cole’s eyes widened in horror and shock.

            “Recognize this, do you?” said Ciel. “It’s one of the cards you employ when commissioning your hangers-on to do your work for you. This here is a request for the compilation of data.” He lifted another. “This one is for ironing. This one, shoe shining. This one, a request to the Scarlet House cook to make a snack!” He dumped a variety onto the floor. “Shall I go one? I’ve got many more. Each one is quite clearly written in your hand, down to the date and time.”

            “How could they?!” cried Cole. “After I made a point of telling them to get rid of the cards?”

            “Oh, they did just as you asked and disposed of them,” said Ciel. “What a relief that the refuse hadn’t yet been collected. Such trouble it was unearthing these tiny cards from the heap of rubbish gathered from all over the school.”

            Sebastian had worked diligently.

            “Wha—?” Cole couldn’t believe it.

            “And carefully the cards, which were torn into very small pieces, was quite difficult as well,” said Ciel—work again done by (Y/N) and Sebastian. “What would Redmond think if he were to find out about all this? As a student of the storied Weston College, aren’t you ashamed of yourself, Cole?! I’m willing to overlook your deception of me and the others. But you should speak plainly to Redmond about this.”

            Of course, Ciel didn’t plan on truly forgiving Cole, but it was part of the trap and show to the P4 that Ciel was honorable and trustworthy.

            “Yours is a brotherly relationship built on trust, right?” said Ciel.

            “Yes…you’re right…I’ll tell him.” Then, Cole’s expression turned ugly and angry. “I’ll tell him absolutely nothing! Who in their bloody mind would?!” He snapped his fingers, and three lackeys ran into the room. They grabbed Ciel roughly by the arms, and Cole smirked. He was handed the pile of red papers. “You didn’t actually think I’d come here unprepared, did you?” He struck a match. “You’re a fool!” He grinned cruelly as the papers burned to ash. “There we go! Evidence destroyed! After you went to all that trouble to find it, too…” He pouted. “What a pity!” Cole grabbed Ciel’s tie and pulled it roughly to force the younger boy to face him. “You irritate me. Who do you think you are?! You’re getting uppity simple because the seniors have taken a passing fancy to you.”

            Cole grinned and roughly let go of Ciel’s tie. “Making use of other people is a talent, too, you know? And I am particularly good at making good use of the plain students! I, the most attractive boy in this school! Whether or not I become a prefect at this school can make or break my future.” He narrowed his eyes. “That’s why I’ve flattered and fawned over the prefects to within an inch of my life! Someone like you, a winner with a title can never understand the feelings of a second son who will never be in a positive to inherit, can you?!”

            Ciel’s gaze darkened. “I don’t believe there is any value in a victory obtained by deceit!”

            “Your good boy act makes me sick!” spat Cole, drawing a pair of sewing scissors from his coat. “I will be the next prefect of Scarlet House! And I will be the one Redmond loves best!” He slashed down and cut Ciel’s uniform open. “And I am the most beautiful one here in this school!”

            “What are you—!” Ciel coughed as Cole kicked him in the stomach.

            “You really are a fool for choosing a deserted place like this,” sneered Cole. His lackey brought a camera over. “No one will come to your rescue, you know? Now, then! Time to take some photographs! The kind that’s so embarrassing you’re want to die~” He looked at his men. “Do it!”

            They began to pull at Ciel’s clothes, and Sebastian and (Y/N) tensed in case the P4 didn’t intervene and they had to.

            “Please, stop!” cried Ciel.

            Wham!

            The door of the art room slammed open.

            “What the hell is this, you lot?!” Two angry yells rose and echoed in the room.

            Greenhill and Edward had arrived. In a single moment, Greenhill slammed into the boys ganging up on Ciel and sent them flying with his cricket bat. Cole fell to his knees in shock and fear at the prefect finding him doing something so cruel—orchestrating it, even.

            “You’re going to pay dearly for forcing me to break my vow of nonviolence, Cole,” seethed Greenhill, gritting his teeth.

            “P-Please!” Cole looked up at Greenhill desperately. “I beg you, Greenhill!” Please don’t tell Redmond—”

            “Do you not want us to keep silent as well?” said a cold voice.

            “Bluewer! Violet?!” Cole’s eyes widened as two of the other remaining prefects appeared in the doorway. “Wh-Why are you here?”

            “Upon hearing the able and talented Maurice Cole’s violent act, it would be odd indeed for them to not hasten here,” said Ciel as Edward helped him stand.

            “But the Swan Gazebo is well away from the school building!” cried Cole. “They should not have been able to hear me!”

            “Cole,” said Ciel, looking down his nose at Cole, and for a moment, the true, cold Ciel appeared. “Sound is not transmitted by amplitude but by vibration. As long as vibration can be transmitted, sound can travel over any distance, in theory. For example, if thin, plank or sheet-like objects are connected by a taught string that allows vibrations to be conveyed with ease, they can become devices that transmit sound to a distant location. For example…” Ciel turned around a canvas to reveal a taut string. “Like this.” He smirked.

            “No! No, no, no, no!” cried Cole as he realized where all the strings connected to every canvas led—the Swan Gazebo. Redmond.

            “I’ve heard every last word.”

            Redmond’s voice came through the canvases, and Cole’s eyes widened in despair. “Red…mond…”

            “To think even you betrayed me…I ashamed for being such a poor judge of character,” said Redmond coldly.

            “N-No—”

            “I don’t want to hear your excuses,” said Redmond. “You are a great disappointment to me. Cole, I hereby sever my brotherly ties to you!”

            Cole let out a wail of despair and fell to his hands, still on his knees.

            “Cole.” Ciel looked at Cole with a “kind” smile. “If you face everyone with honesty from now on, I’m sure you’ll be able to regain their trust.”

            “Phantomhive…” Tears fell down Cole’s cheeks.

            “And to help you with that…” Ciel pulled out a photograph—one that Sebastian and (Y/N) were throwing throughout the school as they spoke—and showed it to Cole. “I made certain to share your ‘true face’ with everyone, Cole.”

            Cole stared at the photograph of him putting on makeup in shock. His entire reputation was down the drain, ruined.

            Leaving Cole on the ground, Ciel walked to the door. “You can take pride in yourself, I think. Your skill with makeup is the real thing.”

            He left the room where three of the P4 and Edward waited.

            “Ciel,” said Edward. He bowed. “I’m sorry for falsely accusing you. Please forgive me.”

            Ciel put on his good-boy attitude again. “Whatever the reason, I was indeed late. There’s no need for you to apologize, Edward.”

            “I must say, I honestly didn’t take you for such a man of action,” said Greenhill, smiling. “No wonder Midford acknowledges you.”

            “You’re really quite entertaining,” said Violet, smiling.

            Even Bluewer smiled fondly and ruffled Ciel’s hair. “Your deeds were indeed brave, Phantomhive.

            “Thank you!” said Ciel. He smiled widely in a practiced, youthful, bright manner. “When I discovered there others besides me who had suffered at Cole’s hands, I couldn’t just let it go. I’ve never been one to condone such wrongdoing, you see.”

            “Heeding tradition. Being without dishonesty. Remaining pure and noble of heart. That’s what it takes to be a student of Weston!” declared Greenhill.

            From outside the window, Sebastian and (Y/N) looked in before exchanging glances. They had been successful; the P4 adored and trusted Ciel. Now, hopefully, their investigation would move forward towards a successful conclusion.

Whitewashing in Anime - Soma ft. Usopp

Avoiding "Brown"

Here is an image of Soma comparing his skin tone from the first season of Black Butler and the current season airing now. As you can see, Soma's skin is noticeably lighter than it was in the past. I considered the lighting and took shade from his hand that looks relatively mid tone. However, that's not really a fair excuse if the anime continues to lighten Soma's face this way.

I also compared his skintone from the Book of Circus season which is relatively more recent, and chose images where he's clearly in good lighting. Soma is still noticeably lighter this time around.

Whitewashing is an incredibly common phenomenon that been happening a lot lately in anime, especially with reboots. A great example I can think of off the top of my head is One Piece where they lightened nearly everyone's skin color in the anime, despite some of the cast being characters of color?

(^^^this character is canonly black according to Oda, the mangaka.)

"Oh but Oda gives Usopp pale skin in all his color illustrations"

One, he should know better. Two, if Oda said Usopp would be African in real life, and chose a brown, Jamaican-american actor to play him, then yes, they have been ridiculously disrespectful in how they've been portraying the character's racial features so far.

In that sense, it's actually relief that anime studios in the past weren't afraid of giving their characters darker skin unlike mangakas who were terrified of even the lighest shade of brown.

For instance, I am happy that A-1 studios made Soma, Agni, and Mina, who are all the same race, slightly differ in skin tone. Mina's skin is cooler toned compared to Soma and Agni's warmer hues.

HOWEVER, and other fans pointed this out, Soma and Agni's skin leaned so far from being golden brown to straight yellow in many scenes, that they were walking around like they have jaundice which is so... Of course A-1 studios found some way to mess it up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another thing, do you guys honestly think being accurate to Yana's art style is always the best thing to do in adaptions? Angela Blanc, the secret villain in the anime original first season, pretends to be an abused maid and gets whipped in her very first scene. And according to Yana's concept sketches, she was originally brown. I'm actually glad the anime whitewashed her in that instance.

I'd like to point out, Sebastian's skin tone has also changed in the new season, and he's noticeably tanner than his previous anime appearances and yana's illustrations. So why is this okay for the anime to make creative changes for sebastian's skin tone, but have to stay accurate for Soma? (whose dark skin been established in anime viewers' eyes for decades now).

To be fair, I did a comparison of the anime grayscaled and Soma in the manga during the Weston arc. I checked the values and while I will say that his skin is relatively in the same as the manga, only few degrees lighter, whitewashing isn't only about skintone.

Colourism in Features

We could argue whether its just different anime styles or the way Yana draws noses, but its not a great look for Soma's nose to be made noticeably sharper compared to his flatter/rounder nose in the manga/earlier seasons of the anime.

Talking about the Mandela effect and cognitive dissonance as well... there's also something about how manga readers seen Soma with brown skin and pure black hair years in the manga, only for the anime to lighten those features.

It doesn't help that Soma canonly has purple hair and yellow eyes (if anything, I do appreciate the more natural tones they gave Soma this season. No more highly saturated purple hair and yellow eyes!)

Yes, Kuroshitsuji is a fantasy story, and YES artists of color like to play with fantasy features with characters, me included! But my point is that black/brown representation in media is so little already, especially when character artists are also averse to drawing any defining racial features.

Yana has designed brown-skinned characters in the anime with straight white hair and light-colored eyes about three times now (ie. Agni, Angela, and Hannah). The only Indians with dark skin and hair are a bunch of homeless thugs that Soma and Agni stop from mugging Ciel, proving they're "one of the good ones", and Mina whose treatment in the manga/anime is abysmal.

Discussing Racism in Fandom

Alright, so over the past few days, I've seen some fans disappointed with Soma's skin tone change and I hope my post illustrates why they would be. But I've also seen some angry and frustrated reactions to those fans! And I want to ask, why?

Why is fans bringing up racism in anime considered "discourse" but reacting harshly towards those fans is not?

Why would fans expressing disappointment about whitewashing gets you more angry than the whitewashing itself?

Why is being disappointed that an anime lightened a character's skin tone, a character who both anime-only watchers and manga readers alike saw as dark-skinned, "stupid" to you?

How come the fandom gets a good laugh out of the usage of "fag" potentially canceling the anime, but talking about race is a "risk" to getting a new season?

And if you disagree with my points and believe the anime is only being accurate to Yana's work, why not just say "Soma's skintone is more accurate to Yana's color illustrations, but I understand the disappointment and shock," without being condescending towards us for being concerned in the first place?

I'd be pretty happy if the anime was just using intense lighting and that Soma is darker than he appears (in fact, if that happens I'll reblog the good news to this post!) Because this post isn't "discourse" to me, I'm discussing race regarding one of my favorite characters in the fandom. Discussions like these don't ruin the fandom, but actually help it become a more welcoming place for fans of color.
