even if they bring so many burdens

they shouldn't be so heavy, rainy days i mean

says me who loves it when it rains hard

who loves to see the rain cleanse everything

even my thoughts

for a brief second i find calm just listening

and forget the rain here means

someone's having a hard time

i remember my hard times in the rain

public cars and buses with leaks and holes

four people crammed in the back of a car, sweating

uncomfortably hot from the smoke of the cars

no AC, just the wind from the slightly open windows

just enough for us to breathe and try and leave

most of the rain out

the leaks from the holes on the roof were AC too

uncomfortably wet in my work clothes

oh i was wet from before i got in, didn't even try to run from it

since i knew i would be uncomfortable anyway

the rain was inevitable

the rain i loved back then brought me disdain

the traffic becoming a mess

thinking someone's house might be flooded

maybe mine even

the rain i love these days

even when back then it made me resent my friends

for texting the group chat over and over

oh it's such a perfect rainy day

and i was wet in my work clothes, hating the rain

hating the traffic and the smoke from the cars

the heat and the sweat from the strangers i was crammed with

the rain i love these days

the rain that brings me so much ease

the rain that, on a bad day can still make me hate santo domingo

and maybe even my friends

but i'm tired of seeing the burdens the rain may come with

it doesn't rain the same everywhere

it doesn't rain the same everyday

and these days it rains and i'm near the balcony

near the fields around the house

the cold and wet soft breeze

with the smells of nature coming in

the rain that brings me calm

the rain outside, not in my mind

the rain inside, cleansing my mind
