#AND THAT CROWLEY LIVES IN HIS CAR

I rewatched s2 ep1 of Good Omens and it's actually just so crazy the amount of foreshadowing Neil chucked into that episode.
You have:
Angel Crowley talking about getting into trouble and asking questions.
Aziraphale telling Maggie that forgiveness is one of his favourite things.
The split screen phone call that mirrors the last shot on ep6 (not over this one).
Crowley and Aziraphale having an argument over helping Gabriel, a parallel to their miscommunication in the final 15.
Beezelbub worrying about Gabriel and getting flustered after Crowley mentions how big the universe is, and how easy it would be to lose an archangel.
The literal fly buzzing about in the background.
The fact that 'Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy' doesn't include the line "dining at the Ritz".
There's definitely more but these are the main ones that stand out. It's just so obvious when you know to watch out for it.
I also feel like the Fandom is so invested in the final 15, we forget to examine the argument they have about Jim. Because Crowley is visibly anxious about Gabriel being there, and so is Aziraphale for that matter - but he wants to help as soon as he hears about "The something terrible", where as Crowley wants to avoid rather than prevent it (au where they do just dump Gabriel in Dartmoor).
They have the sweet little moment where Aziraphale is like "you're at liberty to go..." and Crowley's like "Oh, is that how we're playing this?" and then Aziraphale goes all soft and says "No, I would LOVE you to help me."
It's just such a good example over how they ration out solutions to things. And I'll say it again, it mirrors their "I need you" and "I'm not joining their team".

Hypothesis: Aziraphale HATES that Crowley is living in his car.
Supporting evidence:
The very first thing we see him do in the present is stop Maggie from moving out and making sure she feels welcome to stay as long as she likes.
He clearly knows Crowley’s unhappy before anything happens in the plot: “Does it calm you down?”. And also clearly feels helpless about it. Enter the conspicuous Eccles cakes: Aziraphale’s offer, which is rejected.
Crowley’s obviously, for all his hedging, spending a lot of time at the bookshop— so much that he has his own glasses perch and feels immediately comfortable removing them. See also: “Technically my bookshop but we both get plenty of use out of it”, “Why don’t you wait inside? You like waiting inside”.
It’s Crowley who immediately shoves the box of plants into Aziraphale’s arms after Aziraphale returns from Scotland.
Speaking of Scotland, why wouldn’t Aziraphale take the train? Why insist on driving the Bentley? Is it perhaps because he wants to get Crowley and his plants into the shop, and thinks if he creates a situation where Crowley has to stay there, maybe he won’t immediately leave again?
He’s got an empty bedroom and an apparently pathological need to make the person staying there very comfortable, creating cute little customized souvenirs like he’s an Air B&B host (displacement!).
He immediately jumps to having Gabriel stay with him— he didn’t have to. Arguably, both Gabriel and Aziraphale would be safer if Gabe stayed elsewhere.
That’s what I’ve got for now but I’m sure there’s more. Throughout the show, watch what Aziraphale gives to others and does for others, and it’ll tell you what he wants to do for Crowley. He’s living so deeply in displacement in makes him come across as manic and brittle.
(What probably happened is Aziraphale offered the spare bedroom and Crowley, who unconsciously didn’t want to be his roommate or sleep in a single bed with Aziraphale right downstairs because how could the poor lovesick boy cope with that, told him he wasn’t a “good deed” for Aziraphale to do and stormed off.)
Conclusion: Aziraphale asked Crowley to stay at his place, immediately and probably repeatedly. They had a row about it, and Crowley refused, and to this day Aziraphale doesn’t understand why.
And it hurts him.

i see a lot of people talking about aziraphale being oblivious about Crowley being homeless but I raise you this: Aziraphale is trying to get Crowley to stay at the bookshop, but Crowley is too stubborn to accept help.

We can say however, that Aziraphale has picked up the pace. Time is of the essence as Shax marshals her forces to descend on Aziraphale's store and retrieve Gabriel.
"This is really Shax's first time out on Earth," Gaiman explains, "She is working very diligently andvery hard in Hell for a long time. Now she is on Earth, trying to figure it all out. She's just discovering what Crowley has known for 6,000 years, which is that if you're a demon and come up with a brilliant plan to screw up the lives of humanity, people will get there first and do worse than anything you could have imagined! She's coming to terms with that.
"She is having to deal with the first crisis onher watch, as well, which is the disappearance of the archangel Gabriel from Heaven. It would be fair to say that by the end of the story, she is leading as much as she can get from Hell's requisition department - a legion of Hell - in an attack on a Soho bookshop."
When audiences catch up with Aziraphale again, he's enjoying his time among humans. He owns most of the block in a Soho neighbourhood, and he's meddling in Nina's love life. Meanwhile, Crowley has been living in his car, with his plants sitting on the back seat. He's grumpy about his current status quo, but frequently hangs out at Aziraphale's. The duo began as antagonists, but their history and...

Crowley’s ringtone
In episode 1 of season 2 we get to hear Crowley’s ringtone (19:35) (21:45)
It’s short, it’s fast, and it’s loud
at first I thought I thought it was some kind of old phone ring but none of them were really lining up
but you know what did sound familiar?
an apartment buzzer sound

Over all I think he's taking this all quite well.
He doesn't throw things when people check in on him any more.
... well. Not much.

Whooooo okay, so. Thoughts.
You can get a lot done in 90 mins. Many books are made into 90 minute movies.
(Season 2 was 6 episodes... but maybe 90 minutes of it total was actually *necessary*.)
Think about what we've learned. Neil wasn't the person we thought he was, and it showed in his treatment of a story we all love. He said himself that he gave fans what they wanted (in terms of the kiss), but we "wouldn't like it." His ego thrived on manipulating, ridiculing and generally stirring up the fan base. The more upset and vulnerable we were, the more satisfied he felt. What do you think, then, was in store for us in his Season 3? Do you think his scripts would have left us feeling satisfied, even if we got the cottage ending?
The new producer doesn't know GO, but the cast and crew love this world and love the story. I'm going to choose to trust that a group of people that overall has been so united and wonderful, so very much on the same page in terms of this love story, will see things through. And I'm excited for an ending that truly is for us... because let's face it, we almost didn't get an ending at all. A TV show that gets rocked in this fashion generally does one of two things: cuts ties and continues if there's enough financial incentive to do so (think House of Cards, Rick and Morty-- both of which are/were MUCH bigger and more profitable than GO), or cancels. Considering how long it took to greenlight S3 and Mickey's "We did the impossible" post on X, I'm sure Amazon was on the verge of pulling the plug. (I'm not going to talk about my opinion on the ethics of these decisions. I'm just saying it's reality. Corporations care about their bottom line and their optics.)
It'll be okay. Let's be optimistic. Neil is gone, the story will continue, and they're doing it for us.
(Last thought: remember that-- in a different reality where Neil Gaiman actually is the person we thought he was-- we might not have gotten anything more satisfying in terms of the A/C love story. Neil doesn't think "settled relationships" are good television. He wouldn't let them lay a finger on each other until the very last episode, I guarantee it.)
(Also, this is the guy who decided that "Crowley lives in his car and Aziraphale doesn't know or doesn't care" made any kind of fucking sense; no, I'm not over it yet.)

I haven't posted in years but I rewatched good omens s2 last night with my dad and he made a very infuriating point that I can't stop thinking about
he said at the end of e6 that's Aziraphale doesn't feel the same abt Crowley, or hasn't fully come to terms with how he feels about him, not because he left for heaven but because he never offered to house Crowley even though he knew he was living in his car.
(like he literally helped him move his plants BACK INTO THE BENTLY when he got back from Edinburgh)
like he offered Gabriel a spare room but not Crowley.
and you can't even argue that Gabriel took the only spare room because Aziraphale could have offered it to Crowley before Gabriel even showed up!
or they could've stayed in the same room
AND there was a whole nother empty room he could've made into a bedroom or something! they literally went and had a secret talk in it away from Muriel!!!
and while I don't agree with my dad that Aziraphale doesn't love Crowley back, this is my current dilemma over season two

Wait... when did Crowley start living in the car. Because in lockdown when he asks "I could slither over and watch you eat cake." He doesn't say it from car parked 5m from the bookshop, right? RIGHT?! :D

Oh well. Now that we know Crowley never told Aziraphale about his living situation, that completely throws out the window all our theories about Crowley waiting for Aziraphale to ask him to just stay/live with him because how would Aziraphale do that if he didn’t know Crowley was homeless in the first place. And Aziraphale doesn’t seem like the type to be nosy about Crowley’s non-infernal affairs. This is so tragic. 😭
