in between the lines
pairing — lily morrow x 7th member!reader
you and lily are THE chaotic besties. you can't be seen without each other and are like peas in a pod. what happens when there's a realization?
tags — f!reader (ethnicity friendly), idol!au genre — crack, fluff, ROMANCE (this is sickeningly sweet) word count — 4,840
notes — there's two curse words, reader is ’03 and knows how to cook, I had FUN with this one (I hope you enjoy it too), I WON'T SAY ANY SPOILERS!!
Tumblr media
when you became a trainee at jyp, things were fun and exciting, meeting people like you, taking up new experiences, and working hard to fulfill your dream of becoming one of the most talented idols.
of course, that was all enjoyment at first.
trainee life is tiring and excruciating. for one, it takes a lot of time and effort. most of the time, years. it's your top priority to improve, so you must manage training, studying, eating, socializing, sleeping, and taking care of yourself all at once.
sometimes, it was too overwhelming for you.
that is because you had to do all of that, and there was always something to worry about. one second, you would rejoice about passing your monthly evaluation and then hear that your vocals aren't half as good as others who have been here.
when you ace that one challenging choreography your coach assigned to you, yet still compared to one of your seniors.
trainee life was tiring, demeaning, and excruciating.
not until you met lily.
you still remember the first time you saw her, walking into the wrong practice room.
realizing you were in the wrong room, you bowed and apologized profusely, her warmly saying that it was okay and there was nothing to worry about.
the second you made eye contact, something sparked, and that was something you could never describe.
you hadn't interacted with her that much, her being in the more skilled classes of the trainee groups. she was very well known and had been there before you by a long run, so finally seeing her in person made you curious.
"I'm sorry, excuse me,"
"but you're lily, right? I've heard a lot about you."
"oh!" she looked at you wide-eyed, "yes, I am lily. and only good things, I hope." she chuckled nervously, and you gave her a reassuring smile.
"of course. it's all good things,"
you checked your watch and frowned after seeing the minutes that passed. you had practice to get to and didn't want to get scolded by your teacher, so you couldn't stay for so long.
"I'm sorry to cut our conversation short, but I have to go. it's nice to meet you, I hope to see you again!"
"it's okay! see you wherever!" she smiled, and when you left, her eyes stayed on where your figure was far too long than she expected.
and guess what? "see you wherever," you did.
at least the second time you met.
this time, she stumbled upon you alone, in another practice room, at ten pm, on the floor.
you didn't hear her enter, so you lay there, unaware she was in the room. she recognized you by your appearance and by your previous interaction with her. by now, she had forgotten whatever she was planning and instead looked at you in concern.
"are you okay?" you opened your eyes, startled to see her doe ones stare at you from above.
you screamed, "aah!! oh. lily? hey, lily!"
"oh my god! don't scream like that again. it made me scream, too!" she put her hand on her chest.
"I'm sorry!" you said, getting up, your eyes widening as you saw her more clearly now and not be shadowed by herself.
"oh my god, lily."
"why? what's wrong?"
she looked gorgeous.
"wait, why are you even here? it's late, you shouldn't be practicing!" she asked and scolded you, her arms crossed and her eyebrows furrowed.
"oh, don't worry, I wasn't training. I was only lying on the floor, questioning things in my life," you answered her honestly, catching her off guard.
"oh. then, what were you thinking about?"
"hmm... well, I was thinking of important things to ones that weren't. like how my family is doing, if I'm good enough to be an idol, what song I should listen to before I sleep, or what I should eat tomorrow. all random stuff." you shrugged your shoulders, spacing out and looking at a wall.
"hey, what is this that I'm hearing?!"
you looked at her in surprise.
"you're good enough to be an idol. more than enough, actually. I even heard from other trainees that you're our new ace. that's not something you hear every day! I got interested in you."
your eyes lit up visibly.
"oh, wait, really? you got interested in me too?"
"too?" she questioned you.
"I, wait—"
"it's okay, y/n." she laughed, throwing her head back, smiling up to her eyes. your heart raced.
"you're so cute."
you can't stop yourself from staring.
"what you said a while ago about not knowing what song you wanted to listen to at night,"
she added, "I have a few songs in mind. do you want me to play it for you?" after nodding, she quickly walked to where the TV was, searching on youtube and playing an upbeat song.
she walked back to you with her brow raised, and she gave you a small smile, reaching her hand out to you.
you thought, if she looked this good with a messy bun and baggy clothes, how would she look when dressed up flawlessly?
"do you wanna sing for a bit? it's nothing intense, only a couple of songs."
your lips parted, eager to give her an answer—
"and, maybe after, I can show you some of the snacks I eat at the cafeteria."
your whole world stopped.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
you and lily couldn't ever seem to be apart.
after that night, you both became closer. in some way, it was inevitable. you two just seemed to match each other so well.
it was routine for both of you to eat meals together, practice together, hang out and go places, and be at each other's dorms.
you both were best friends.
the best of friends.
chaotic ones, at that.
she brightened up your days the same way you did with hers. when you needed a should to cry on, she was always there, and you did the same for her, too.
lily always managed to bring you up on your worst days.
you often didn't think when she was around. it was as if your mind went blank, and all you could think about was her. you didn't care what other people thought as long as you both had fun.
you both did what your hearts desired, regardless of who or what was there.
that explains why you were so chaotic together.
so when you two were announced to be part of the pre-debut lineup and upcoming group of jyp, you both screamed and jumped in happiness.
hearing the news along with the other girls of jypn, you turned to her and screamed, holding her hands in joy.
"OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD, LILY, WE DID IT. WE MADE IT!!" screaming, you started hugging her, jumping.
still in shock, lily gave you the biggest smile she could muster and started screaming and jumping with you, holding your hands tighter.
"OH MY GOD, Y/N, YES, WE DID IT!"
the announcer looked at you both questioningly while the girls could only look away in embarrassment.
"don't mind them, please." haewon smiled at them apologetically.
"o...kay. alright then. that's all for today, thank you. and congratulations. you may celebrate." they said and quickly left.
you and lily were so occupied that it took you a minute before noticing the announcer was gone. you both started giggling and pointing at each other, leaving the others confused. bae couldn't handle your weirdness and called you two out.
"just to let you guys know, you're both freaks." haewon burst out in laughter, clutching her stomach. you poked your tongue out at her, and lily doubled up in laughter.
"it's okay, lily. they're just jealous of our super glue-bonded relationship."
"super glue-bonded?!" lily exclaimed and looked at you with wide eyes, and you laughed heartily, bringing her closer and patting her back.
"you guys are so entertaining." kyujin stared at you both in astonishment.
"okay now, don't even try looking at them." haewon covered kyujin's eyes, turning her away and making her whine.
"why, unnie?!"
"I'm doing this to protect you!"
you scoffed and crossed your arms as you looked at her, fake disgust. "what an asshole, honestly," you said quietly enough, only for lily to hear. you shook your head as your best friend snorted and covered her mouth, trying to hide her laughter.
you grinned widely, proud.
you loved adored seeing her this happy.
"trying to hide her laughter," but ultimately failing.
but you didn't mind. as long as you got to see your best friend like this.
"she... she called you an asshole!"
your jaw fell in surprise.
"LILY—?!"
okay, maybe you did mind.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
nmixx had been around for more than a year now, and you were all playing a folk tale mafia game, trying to find who the nine-tailed fox was.
the goal of this game was actually the least of your worries. you were trying to distract yourself from what close proximity you had with lily.
and you rather eat high-quality food than focus on what's happening (except for the girl you were beside).
everyone started telling their roles, and you lightly smiled when it was lily's turn.
"I'm... a subject.
"what?" you mumbled to her in surprise, your mouth full of food.
"hey, don't eat with your mouth full," she frowned and when you finished chewing, she took a tissue and wiped your mouth, leaning closer to you.
"I— thank you," you said quietly, looking down.
your heart ached. and you didn't know if it was in a good or bad way.
"yah, you're the only one who hasn't said anything about your role yet," haewon said.
"yeah, and she's being super quiet. that isn't normal!" jiwoo pointed at you in accusation.
"hey, what the fuck? I haven't even checked my bowl yet!" you threw your arms out in exasperation.
"language," haewon said and looked at you pointedly.
"sorry." you apologized quickly.
"oh my god, unnie, are you that hungry? your bowl's almost half finished!" jiwoo laughed, smacking jinni on the back, who groaned, and you huffed, pouting in response.
"or maybe the food's just that good," lily countered, crossing her arms and looking at jiwoo.
"oh, aren't you so cute?" lily cooed and squished your cheeks, your pout instantly fading away.
"thank you, lily," you said with a small smile, chuckling and holding her hand on your cheek.
she did nothing but look at you with wide eyes.
after your leader's nagging, you finally relented, moving the rice left in your bowl aside, eyebrows raising at the role given to you.
"I'm... a doctor."
"what?!" the maknae almost screamed in surprise.
"y/n!! you're not supposed to say that!" lily panickedly waved her arms at you.
"oh, huh?" you said dumbfoundedly, and the girls began laughing. you, scratching the back of your neck, decided to join along.
you lied. you weren't a doctor, just a regular citizen.
but, you thought, if you tricked them into killing you, you could watch the game as an observer (not to tell lily answers) and eat as much food as you wanted. the plan was good in your eyes!
adding to that, you were also... decent in acting.
and so, the plan commenced.
the nine-tailed fox was now going to choose who to kill.
everyone closed their eyes, and after waiting, it was revealed...
that you were chosen to be killed.
"I'M A CITIZEN!! GET TRICKED, IDIOTS," you yelled, clapping and laughing at everyone. the staff began laughing, finding it amusing.
the girls could only stare in disbelief as you grabbed your bowl and showed them you were a citizen.
"boo hoo, you killed an innocent!"
you smiled happily and got a spoon, taking food out of the pan.
"y/n... did you really just," lily looked at you expectantly, already knowing what you did.
"shh, lily, they don't need to know." you whispered and winked at her, putting your finger on her lips, her mouth dropping in shock.
she's blushing.
"you know, unnie, if you're killed, you can't eat the food." bae teased, poking your side.
"okay." you shrugged, continuing to eat.
you blinked.
"WAIT, WHAT?!"
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
you and the girls were preparing for your "love me like this" comeback, filming different takes for your stage practice.
everything seemed to be in order. you all were singing perfectly and managed to perform flawlessly. it was the same with your dance moves and stage presence.
it only took three hours because haewon wanted you all to ace it.
when everyone decided to rest, you drank water and lay on the floor, eyes closing.
you were exhausted, but you had fun. you often made faces when you weren't seen on camera, making the girls enjoy, too. you sat up, and from where you were, you could see them talking to each other, off in their own worlds.
except for lily.
she sat alone, hugging herself and resting her chin on her knees. you were concerned as you watched her, wondering what was wrong.
lily has been upset since yesterday morning. when you asked her, she didn't explain why and refused to tell you, not looking you in the eye.
even hugging her or holding her hand didn't work, which shocked you.
after your futile attempts, you decided to leave her be, telling her you were there for her whenever she needed you.
you thought you could both hang out and do things together as usual, but you guess she thought otherwise.
cause every time you approached her, she just walked away.
and that puzzled you to no end.
you didn't mind her not telling you what upset her because you wanted her to share it when she was ready. but her not even looking at you and walking in the opposite direction of where you were?
it made you think something went terribly wrong.
you stood up and went to her, an anxious look on your face. you really hoped she wouldn't walk away this time.
but, unfortunately for you, she noticed you walking toward her, and she quickly excused herself to the bathroom, her head down, shadowing her face.
you didn't even get the chance to get a word out.
haewon, who was nearby, looked at her worriedly, gathering her stuff before running out.
you could only look at her walking away, disheartened.
your members also knew something was up. they noticed lily's behavior and tried investigating it themselves but ended up with nothing. being the closest person to her, they had to ask you what was going on.
"I don't know, jinsol, I really don't know. she isn't telling me anything, and I'm just as left in the dark as you are."
bae looked at you in surprise. "oh? you don't know why?"
she recomposed herself, "all right. it's okay, unnie. thank you for helping. we hope lily unnie feels better soon."
you agreed, and after she walked back to jiwoo and kyujin, you slumped in your seat, frowning and sighing, feeling more lost than ever.
her reaction didn't help either.
the last time you couldn't talk to her for this long was when she had to return to her family for an emergency.
you didn't know what to do. you felt weird, and strangely enough, it felt empty without lily.
you didn't want to assume, but it seemed like she was avoiding you.
you weighed out the possibilities, and she might need some space, but she seemed to get along with everyone else just fine.
she even tried helping with the laundry last night but settled for washing the dishes instead.
she even went to haewon's room last night.
wait, she... went to haewon's room last night?
you couldn't linger in your thoughts any longer since someone sat beside you unexpectedly.
"…yoona?"
"y/n, I need to ask you something."
you and yoona were particularly close, so you didn't mind when she didn't use formalities. but because you were always with Lily, you never got to be as close to her as you had hoped.
"sure, yoona, what is it?"
"are you sure that lily unnie hasn't told you anything? like seriously, anything?"
you looked at her curiously. "well, from what I can recall, no. but I told her I would be there for her no matter what."
"hmm, okay. did you know that haewon unnie knows why lily unnie's acting this way?"
"wait, what?"
"mhm. I asked her, but she said it wasn't her place to say. I just wanted to let you know."
your stomach dropped.
"oh… okay. that's alright. thanks, yoona."
she nodded and hugged you, before walking away.
you sat there for god knows how long.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"unnie!"
when you noticed the youngest leaning over to you, interested in what you were boiling, you turned like a deer caught in headlights. you sighed in relief when you realized the knife wasn't close to your fingers.
"kyu, you almost made me cut my finger."
her smile faded, and she quickly apologized. she started pouting, feeling bad.
"it's okay, baby. nothing happened, see?"
"still, I'm sorry!"
the urge to baby her was powerful. she'd probably whine over it, though.
even if you wanted to, you couldn't. you were chopping vegetables because it was your turn to cook dinner tonight.
whenever you did, kyujin had a habit of watching you because you were the only one in the group who knew how to cook meals, unlike the others who only knew how to cook ramen and eggs.
"what are you making, unnie?" she tilted her head, looking up at you.
you chuckled, "ah, well, I'm making sundubu-jjigae."
"ooh, don't make it too spicy, please!"
"of course! how cute our maknae is~"
you ended up babying her, anyways.
since kyujin didn't know how to cook, like the rest of nmixx, she ended up sitting on the couch and playing games on her phone. you wiped your hands and leaned against the counter, checking the time on your watch. it was past seven pm.
dinner would take about an hour to be ready, so all you had to do was wait. you and the girls wanted to sleep before nine o'clock because you had a performance at music bank the next day.
you looked up when you heard someone clear their throat near you. you felt a pang of fear when you saw that it was lily.
"lily."
you tried to hide your nervousness by leaning even more against the counter. lily appeared to feel the same way as she averted her gaze and fidgeted with her fingers.
kyujin, seeing the situation firsthand, had her jaw dropped as she walked away from the couch, making sure you noticed before hiding in the hallway to listen in on your conversation.
the awkward silence was deafening. you eventually relaxed and stared directly at lily. her eyes were filled with conflict. it's not unusual to see her acting this way cause it's something you've seen a million times.
you were just nervous and scared because you believed she was acting this way because of something you did.
"lily... how are you doing? are you okay?"
you said softly, giving her a welcoming smile. you glanced down and noticed her palms were sweaty from how she was repeatedly wiping her hands on her pajamas.
you raised your brow and looked at her, seeing her biting her bottom lip.
"I— y/n. can I talk to you?"
"we're talking, aren't we?"
"please."
she closed her eyes and took deep breaths in and out, putting her hand on her chest. you showed visible concern. lily was rarely ever this serious. you approached her and gently took her hand in yours.
"lily, what's wrong? I'm here to listen, please."
she stared into your eyes, and you could feel her trembling. she turned her head and covered her face, her other hand still holding yours.
"lily..."
"y/n, you know you're my best friend, right?" you hummed in response. She slowly turned back to you with pink cheeks.
"I tell you almost everything. anything and everything,"
she broke eye contact again, preferring to stare at the fridge rather than look into your eyes, swirling with emotion.
"but that's exactly why I couldn't tell you this."
"I'm sorry for not hanging out or talking to you like we always do. I just needed time to... process how I was feeling."
you nodded, listening to her intently.
"go ahead, lily."
she breathed in once more before letting the truth come out.
"look, y/n, I always thought of you as a best friend and best friend only.
"that is until I rambled to haewon about you, and she thought I had a big big crush on you."
"and that made me feel weird for days."
so that's why she wasn't talking to me?
"...I only started showing it when I saw you hanging out with yoona."
oh.
"wait, what?"
"let me explain!"
she stepped closer, awkwardly holding your arms in an attempt to be firm.
"you always stayed by my side, and me only. it's weird, y/n. no, not that! I mean, um, how I feel about it." she said and whispered, "and how I feel with the things you do."
you cocked your head like a confused puppy.
"awe shit, I didn't hear that."
"what are you doing?" haewon walked over to kyujin with her eyebrows furrowed, hands on her hips after hearing the maknae curse.
"has y/n really been teaching you how to curse? I'm so! going to scold her—" she said almost too loudly, making kyujin panic.
"quiet, unnie! look."
she peeked her head out of the doorway, eyes widening when she saw you and lily close together.
"okay, y/n, I know this is already a mess, but please hear me out."
"when you hold or hug me, I feel so— I don't know. like my whole body goes warm. I can never stop it."
"when you grab my hand or do that little thing where you caress it when I'm nervous, I—I feel like I'm gonna explode!"
"when I feel insecure, and you compliment me to make me feel better, I feel like the only girl you see in this world."
"and that terrifies me, y/n. because you're... my best friend. I shouldn't be feeling this way for you."
"but I can't help it. I really can't help it."
"especially when I saw you and yoona being so close together."
"I didn't take lily unnie to be the jealous type," bae said.
"when did you get here?!" haewon exclaimed, startled.
"it made my entire being feel like I was being soaked underwater, and I couldn't breathe. if, if that even makes sense..."
"it does, don't worry." you reassured her.
"but it also felt like it was... burning? Like I was burning."
"when I talked to haewon about you, I felt so conflicted. I thought, why would I ever have a crush on you? you're y/n."
ouch.
"but then, I realized you're also the y/n who's been there for me through thick and thin. the y/n who makes me smile effortlessly and wipes my tears away whenever I'm being extra emotional on a difficult day."
"the one who never judges me and has stuck by my side even though I'm probably annoying to you."
"you're the y/n who fits me perfectly, and no matter what happens, every memory I have with you has been sweet, heartwarming, and happy."
"looking back at the past and what we've been through together over the years has changed the way I look at you, and it makes me feel... I'm not sure how to describe it."
she pondered in thought, and her expression lit up.
"hey, remember when the netizens bashed me for being too honest on a live and how I should just keep my mouth shut?"
"you were so angry when the management team couldn't do anything about it that you wanted to personally go to the jyp building and confront them there."
"ugh, yes, I remember that," you groaned and covered your face with your hands in embarrassment while she chuckled and grabbed them away.
"I don't think anyone would have stopped you if haewon didn't drag you to your room." she whispered and teased, staring at you in amusement as you nodded her off, grumbling about the incident.
"I was even willing to riot online... bastards." you mumbled.
"what was that?"
"it's nothing!"
she giggled at your words, "oh, you're so silly."
"y/n, you made me realize you're not just my best friend. you're something else to me, something so much more, and something friends shouldn't ever feel for each other."
"and I resented myself for quite a while. until I realized it wasn't wrong, I was only scared of ruining our friendship."
"so, that's why I'm here to declare it. I'm going to say it, y/n. are you ready? tell me you're ready." her voice echoed throughout the kitchen and living room, and you laughed at her antics.
"lily..." you shook your head, heart beating faster. you gestured to her in encouragement. "I'm ready."
she held your hands and smiled at you wholeheartedly.
"I like you, y/n. I like you so much."
"oh my god!! she did it!"
"she actually said it?!"
"lily... I."
she leaned forward, eyes sparkling with hope.
"you...?"
"I—..."
"I..."
"..."
"...?"
"hey, wait, you're doing this on purpose!!"
when she saw you laughing again, her expression fell, making her pout and whine, looking at you disgruntled.
"I'm being serious here! do you like me, or do you not—"
you cut her off, "god, you're so cute,"
she blushed, her eyes widening, and her face fired up to different shades of red, quite flustered.
you moved closer, your gaze locked on hers. you placed your hands on lily's waist, causing her to freeze, unsure of what to do.
you smiled and grabbed her hands, putting them on your shoulders.
"there we go."
she stared up at you, looking at you with trustful eyes.
"lily, may I kiss you?"
"I—..." she stared at you in surprise. "yes. you may kiss me, y/n."
you tilted your head, glancing at her lips to her eyes. she tried shying away, but you laughed and stopped teasing, softly kissing her lips.
it was innocent and sweet. you could sense lily's nerves as she stood stiffly. you eased her by moving your mouth against hers.
she melted into the kiss, her hands clasped around your neck. you pulled her closer than before, your hands now grasping her lower back, and you completely surrendered yourself to her, the woman who had you from the start, lily.
you caressed her sides, making her squirm and squeal. you chuckled as you broke away from the kiss, seeing her amazed and stunned, standing there dumbfounded.
"oh, my god."
you both took deep breaths, your foreheads touching. lily took your breath away in many ways. she was so hypnotizing. everything about her managed to lure you in.
"y/n... that was... so... wow."
"wow. wow, indeed."
every. single. time.
whether it was this kiss, a sleepover in her room, or another run to the convenience store in the middle of the night,
she always drew you in. always.
she giggled, staring at you adoringly.
"y/n... does that mean we're dating now? am I your girlfriend?"
you blinked and stared at her dumbly.
"lily... yes, you are my girlfriend."
if you could do a replay in real-time, you'd want it to replay this moment over and over.
the way she crashed into your body, hugging you tightly and squeezing you with all her might.
"thank you, y/n." she whispered into your neck.
the way your members cheered and ran out of the hallway, not caring to hide anymore.
the way you felt when you held her.
"of course, lily." I might even love you.
the way you felt, at that moment, when your long-time best friend and the love of your life loved you the same.
your heart ached.
and, in between the lines, you knew it was in a good way.
"...y/n, am I a good kisser?"
"oh, come on, lily."
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
bonus!
"Hey, so you and Lily unnie, huh?"
you stared at your phone in shock, not expecting a notification from jinni late at night.
"yunjin? how are you? how did you know,"
she typed her message, and when she sent it, you scoffed in disbelief. but not so much in surprise.
"Yoona." "I expected it, honestly. I could see you two get together from a mile away!"
"she's still updating you a lot, I see?"
"Who else would be doing it? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ"
you chuckled, typing a response back.
"i hope you two last long."
"You too, unnie."
"I miss you. tell her I miss her, too."
she added, "I guess Lily unnie as well..."
"don't let her see that." you laughed, already missing your former member.
"ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ"
"See you whenever I see you, unnie. I love you."
"i love you too."
see you, jinni.

Prongsfoot Week 2024 - Day 2
Someone's Birthday
“So, I hear it's your birthday.”
James laughs and pulls at the hem of the bright pink t-shirt he's wearing. Birthday Boy is written in ugly, neon green glitter all over the front of it. “What gave it away? This or the blinking crown on my head?”
“The very loud, off-key singing of your friends earlier.”
James laughs and turns his head to look at the guy who's sliding into the free space at the bar next to him and – oh. If that's not the most gorgeous guy he has ever seen.
Dark hair falls around his face with a casual elegance that James could never achieve with his own. Sharp cheekbones. The sort of slightly wicked grin that makes James' knees go weak.
James is not a small person and still has to look up a little to meet that guy's eyes – and what striking eyes they are.
For a moment James just stares, too stunned to speak. And just when he realizes he should probably say something -
“Hey, who hired the stripper?”
- Peter pops up at James elbow, eyeing the gorgeous guy up and down. “Or hooker? I'm always getting them mixed up.”
James just hopes for the floor of the pub to open up beneath him and swallow him whole. He should have thought of that earlier when he was blowing out the candles on his cake. What a great birthday wish that would have been.
Gorgeous Guy raises one perfect eyebrow as he looks at Peter like he just found a rodent in this very nice pub. James can't really blame him. “Excuse me?”
“You know, people who get rid of their clothes for money,” Peter slurs a little, leaning against James' side. “You look like the type.”
James groans and lets his head fall onto the counter of the bar in front of him, making Peter stumble and grip onto James' shirt for support.
“You okay over here?” comes a new voice and James has never been so glad to hear Remus in all his life. Just when he lifts his head from the counter to beg Remus to take Peter back to their table far away from them so he can apologize to Gorgeous Guy for having horrible taste in friends, there is another person joining their little party at the bar.
A pretty tipsy redhead slides up to Gorgeous Guy's other side, a huge grin on her face as she grabs his arm, likely to not stumble on her high heels. “Here you are, Sirius! I though you got lost!” She looks over at James and her eyes go round, then she leans closer to Sirius' ear but her whispering is so loud James can hear every word over the chatter of the crowded bar. “That's the Birthday Boy you were ogling for the last twenty minutes!”
“Yeah, I know,” Sirius sighs. At least James isn't the only one with questionable friends.
“Hi, I'm Lily,” the girl says brightly as if James hasn't heard anything she was saying and sticks out here hand in front of him. James takes it automatically to shake. “Nice shirt. Happy Birthday!”
“Um, thank you,” James says as she lets go of his hand. She sways a little on her feet as she lets go of Sirius' arm as well and grabs Remus' for support instead, who looks a little alarmed by the fact that a pretty girl is touching him.
“You have a name other than Birthday Boy?” Sirius asks and James' eyes snap back to him.
“Oh, yeah.” James lifts his hand to his hair, raking his fingers through it and knocking off his birthday crown. Sirius catches it easily and James blinks at him for a moment before his brain kicks in again. “James. My name is James.”
“Nice to meet you, James,” Sirius says, his voice sending a shiver down James' spine. Sirius takes a tiny step closer to put the crown back on James' head, his fingers brushing James' curls and along the tips of his ears. James forgets how to breath, starring into Sirius' grey eyes.
“So, he's not a hooker?” Peter asks from somewhere behind James but James barely hears him at all. This might just turn out to be his best birthday yet. Horrible friends and all.

Leandro and Krysa: Chapter 1

Frogs and crickets sang in the reeds. Water lilies floated serenely. The midday sun glanced softly off the palace roofs. Prince Leandro lay basking in the sun on the lawn by the pond, his black curls shining, switching the cross of his round legs with every new request.
“Krysa, order some tarts.” His fingers interlaced over his belly.
“Krysa, get me some shade.” His light brown nose wrinkled against the bright light.
“Krysa, tell me about the weather tomorrow.” He opened his gray eyes and fluttered his lashes.
“Krysa, get rid of the shade.” He lifted a hand to wave away the parasol and closed his eyes.
“Krysa,” the pause in the prince’s voice made the bodyguard’s ears perk up, “Would you ever fuck me?”
Gladly, if it would make you shut the hell up.
Oh, I can not say that.
“You’re hesitatinnnnng!” Leandro sang, that horrible grin on his face. At least his eyes were closed against the sun, he couldn’t see Krysa’s flush, his jaw working, his eyebrows furrowing.
“No,” Krysa said quickly. Whatever game the prince was playing, he wasn’t interested.
“Well, you know, I only ask,” Leandro spoke with suspicious sincerity, “Because out of all my bodyguards I know you’re the only one who’d be able to say no. I don’t want to ask someone who can’t say no.”
Krysa narrowed his eyes. He’d been assigned to Leandro, daytime duty, for two months now. Nothing about the prince had ever communicated any level of self-awareness before. Leander was firmly fixed in his mind as a foppish fool – one with a great ass and gorgeous eyelashes, but that was beside the point.
“I can order you a courtesan,” Krysa suggested. It was a game they played often, where Leandro would ask for one thing and the bodyguard would counter with a more realistic option.
“Mmm,” Leandro scrunched up his face, “They’re all… perfumey. I like you,” his grin returned and his eyes cracked open, lashes low, “You smell like sweat and horses.”
The way the prince sensually intoned it, ‘sweat and horses’ might as well have been ‘roses and silk.’ Krysa felt a bead of perspiration crawl down his back. He wasn’t used to being looked at, not the way the prince was looking at him right now. Discomfort wasn’t the right word – incongruence, perhaps. This was out of order in a way the bodyguard didn’t know how to correct. Krysa was not the kind to be looked at; he was pale and red-haired, of average height, and his bearded face was not ugly, he had been assured (but only by his sisters and mother); his build was intense, large, well-stomached, a body built from good food and good training, but rough and hairy and calloused, outfitted in quilted armor and leather straps. He was a far cry from the eye-candy courtesans, slim and smooth and hairless, all silks and delicate embroidery.
They’d been staring at each other for far too long. Leandro cracked first, bubbling into laughter.
“You should see your face, Krysa!” he cackled, “Have you never been flirted with in your life?”
Krysa ground his jaw shut. So it was a joke at his expense – but then the prince carried on.
“You are the most unapproachable man I’ve ever seen!” he wiped a mirthful tear from his eye, “Oh! How terrible. But I will respect your wishes, Krysa, I won’t ask again.”
Again, the irregular sincerity, as if his question was legitimate and the weight of it had been considered. Perhaps it was the absurdity of the situation that made Krysa slip, but he was speaking before he realized it.
“I’ve never seen you respect anything in your life.”
Leandro’s head lifted, his eyes wide, staring at Krysa. The bodyguard’s stomach sank, more annoyance at the berating that would surely follow than anxiety – but the prince just smiled once more.
“So,” he slid a foot closer to his body, lifting a knee in the air and blatantly showing off his leg, “I can ask you again?” He finished the question off by biting his lip in the most infuriating way.
Krysa tore his eyes away, scanning the gardens around in the vain hope that there would be an assassination attempt, just to save him from this situation.
“You can do whatever you want,” he said flatly.
“That’s not a no-o!” Leandro hummed delightedly.
Krysa glanced at the prince one last time before committing to watching the perimeter.
I suppose it isn’t a no.
~~~
It would have been a lie to say that Prince Leandro’s suggestion didn’t haunt Krysa. The prince wasn’t exactly his type – petite, chubby, full of shit – and even if he were, not that Krysa was spending his evenings imagining it, the bodyguard was just that: a bodyguard, and it would bring down hell on himself to do something as foolish as fuck a prince.
Yet: the haunting.
Things came to a head again at the jousting tournament.
Colorful banners flew; sunlight gleamed off of armor; the stands were as crowded as they’d ever been. This put Krysa on high alert, never straying from Leandro’s side, his eyes constantly darting across the faces and hands of the people around them. The vigilance and the heat were one thing – Leandro was another. Dressed to the nines in a blue and silver doublet and slashed sleeves, he lounged in the stands, his retinue taking up a whole row. He was supposed to sit in the royal box, but he insisted the view from the stands was better.
“Krysa, place a bet on the red rider.” He pointed impetuously.
“Krysa, find out when Uncle’s knight is up.” He tugged on Krysa’s sleeve.
“Krysa, shade!” He fanned himself.
“Krysa, fetch me another beer.” He shoved his empty stein towards Krysa.
“I cannot leave your side, your highness.” Krysa did his best to keep the sigh out of his voice.
“Get a servant to do it!” Leandro argued.
“Lucy’s placing your bet, Maurice is looking for your Uncle’s knight, and Akar is holding your parasol.”
Leandro blinked at Krysa for a moment, and it occurred to the bodyguard that the prince might not know the names of his personal servants. The idea added a trickle of rage into the growing pool in his gut.
“Can’t you go?” whined Leandro, “It’ll only take a minute.”
Krysa didn’t even look towards the beer stand; he knew it was a crowded frenzy.
“No.”
“No, your highness,” Leandro corrected him, “Mother says you don’t say that often enough.”
Krysa closed his eyes and took a steadying breath, feeling the rage rise a little into his lungs.
“No, your highness, I cannot leave your side by command of the Queen. You will have to wait until Lucy or Maurice get back.”
“Huh!” Leandro slumped and pouted childishly. He looked into his empty stein and then, rather than setting it aside, dropped it through the slats of the stand. Krysa bristled.
“People have to clean that up, you know!” he barked.
Leandro looked up at him, big-eyed and open-mouthed. Then his lips spread into a dizzy smile, his cheeks flushing.
“Should I go get it then? Crawl into the filth under the stands on my hands and knees? Would you like that?” he asked eagerly.
“Very much so!” Krysa growled.
It was only Akar’s horrified face, hidden from Leadro by the parasol, that made Krysa come to his senses. He found himself looming over the prince, and took a step back, clearing his throat. Leandro burst into a fountain of giggles.
“Can you imagine! Me, crawling around under the stands! But I bet my ass would look good on all fours, don’t you think so, Krysa?”
Krysa scanned the crowd, begging someone to make a move.
“I asked you a question, Krysaaa.” the prince sang.
“Yes!” Krysa snapped, “No! Will you just sit quietly and watch the damn joust?” Little shit.
Leandro’s lips curled into a distinctly cattish smile.
“Yes, Krysa.” The prince sat up in his seat properly, folding his hands in his lap.
The relief of actually being listened to was immense. Krysa relaxed a fraction, returning his focus to the people around them. His eyes caught Akar’s, and through a series of animated eyebrow wiggles the manservant communicated his shock and amusement. Krysa snarled at him.
Maurice and Lucy returned shortly, with the news that the Duke’s knight would not be jousting for another hour or more and the rider the prince had wanted to bet on had already lost. Leandro yawned and stretched in his exaggerated way.
“Then I see no reason to stay. I have so much work to do, I can’t watch a joust all day.” This was a lie. Leandro had spent many a day frittered away at the parade ground. “You’re all dismissed, Krysa can escort me back to my chambers.”
So it was that Krysa found himself alone with the prince in his sitting room, a space swathed in silk and damask and tapestries. There was no real need for Krysa here, not with the guards outside the heavy door. He could make his escape.
“Do you have any further need of me, your highness?” Say no say no say no.
“I did have a question, actually.”
Damn! But Leandro’s voice was uncharacteristically quiet, which caught Krysa’s ear. He waited for the prince to continue, watching him lean against the back of a settee and play with the rings on his fingers. He almost looked nervous.
“Would you, um. Have you given any thought to what I asked you? At the pond the other day?”
More thought than is wise.
“What of it?”
“Well,” Leandro smiled, almost shy, “Can I hear your answer again?”
Krysa started to formulate a response, something to turn the prince down without igniting a tantrum – then a shallower instinct took over. It was a gamble, but he wanted to scare Leandro off for good.
“I do want to fuck you, actually,” he snarled, stalking closer to the prince, “I want to rip off your foppish little clothes and stuff you so full of my cock that you won’t be able to speak or walk for a month, and everyone will finally get some relief from your incessant, inane yapping!” his voice rose to a shout.
Leandro’s eye grew ever wider while Krysa threatened, but rather than shrinking away he leaned forward, his hands lifting like he might touch Krysa’s chest.
“Really?” he breathed.
Fuck, Krysa thought.
“You know how stupid that would be?” he hissed, “If I get caught fucking you I’m dead.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t allow it,” said Leandro, “I wouldn’t let any consequences touch you, ever.”
“What about you? Won’t it damage your reputation if it got out you were letting your own bodyguard top you?”
Leandro laughed brightly. “As if my reputation is a shining beacon!”
“What about your mother? She’d make your life miserable.”
“Already does,” the prince dismissed, “It would be fun to see her try harder.”
“What about…” Krysa’s eyes raked down Leandro’s body. “I don’t want to hurt you, not really.”
“Ah,” Leandro’s hands finally settled on Krysa’s chest, “But I like being hurt.”
“What about…” Krysa’s hands found Leandro’s elbows, fingers sinking into soft flesh, barriered by silky cotton.
“You could kiss me now,” suggested the prince, grinning up at him in a terribly annoying way.
“Don’t fucking tell me what to do,” Krysa growled, and pressed his mouth over Leandro’s, capturing the prince’s stupid smile. For a moment they were all lips and tongue and needy grasping hands, but then Krysa broke away.
“I’m not fucking you.”
Leadro looked up at him, breathing hard, and the bodyguard expected a fit, but instead the prince nodded.
“That’s fine, I um… I actually had this idea, that maybe, um…” He was leaning back now, reaching over the settee and rooting for something among the pillows.
“Spit it out,” Krysa ordered.
Leandro straightened, pressing on object into Krysa’s hands. “Here! Here.”
It was a hairbrush, very clean, made out of polished hard wood. Krysa looked back and forth between it and the prince. He’d said he liked being hurt.
“Do you… want me to hit you with this?”
“No – well, you could, but, well…” Leandro was in a complete tizzy, bright red, twisting the rings on his fingers. Krysa made the connection.
“You want me to fuck you with this.”
“Yes please,” Leandro answered instantly, and it was first time Krysa had ever heard the word please come out of the prince’s mouth.
“You got oil?” Krysa asked.
“Yes, but…” Leandro’s teeth were practically chattering with excitement, “I don’t think we’ll need it. I’m, um, I’m really wet.”
Something about that admission tipped Krysa over the edge. He was in it now.
“Open,” he ordered. Leandro just blinked at him. “Open!” he barked, and Leandro opened his mouth. Krysa shoved in the handle of the brush.
“Hold this.”
Leandro looked like he might pass out from delight as his mouth closed around the handle. As soon as he had it Krysa widened his stance and scooped the prince up into his arms. Leandro squeaked. He was heavy, but it was a short walk into the next room, the prince’s bedchamber. Krysa dropped him unceremoniously onto the massive feather bed, overflowing with blankets and pillows. Then he set to work on Leandro’s clothes; he did desperately want to rip them away, but he also had a great deal of respect for seamsters and so only popped a few buttons as he pulled away Leandro’s trousers, along with his shoes, throwing them aside. He stood back and viewed the prince, now naked from the waist down. His arms were akimbo, gripping fistfuls of the blankets beneath him, and his chest rose and fell rapidly. His lips were parted, the brush held between his teeth, giving him a sort of desperate look. His legs were pressed together, some scrap of shyness catching him. Krysa climbed onto the bed, sliding a hand under Leandro’s knee, callouses brushing against the silky smooth skin there.
“Let me see,” he commanded, quiet and low.
Leandro allowed Krysa to lift his knee and lower it to the side, revealing the folds hidden in the soft bush of black hair between his legs. Krysa shifted closer, gently sliding two fingers between them; as Leandro had promised, they were completely slick. His fingertips circled Leandro’s opening, gauging its looseness, before sliding inside slowly, easily, his eyes flicking up to the prince’s face to catch his reaction. Leandro was watching him through hooded eyes, still breathing hard. Krysa found Leandro’s clit with his thumb and circled it, and smiled when the prince tightened around his fingers.
“Just a bit of talk and kiss,” goaded Krysa, “That’s all it took to get you this wound up?”
Leandro made a small noise, but with the brush handle in his mouth he couldn’t respond.
“I bet you come easy, too,” Krysa murmured, and as much as he hated to give Leandro his mouth back he leaned forward and plucked the brush out with his free hand.
“Krysa!” Leandro spoke immediately, “Krysa!”
“Something wrong?”
“No, I-”
“Then shut up, or I’ll put a stocking in your mouth.”
“Really? You would do that? Because, that would, um, oh!”
Krysa yanked his fingers out of Leandro and climbed off the bed, sorting quickly through the discarded attire and extracting a stocking. Leandro propped himself up on his elbows to watch.
“You’re really going to put a stocking in my mouth? That’s so-”
By then Krysa was back on him, looming over him on all fours.
“Open.”
Leandro giggled wildly and obeyed. Krysa stuffed the sock into his mouth.
“Take it out if you feel lightheaded,” he directed, and Leandro nodded with great enthusiasm.
Krysa shifted back to settle above Leandro’s pelvis, finding the hairbrush where he’d set it aside. With one hand he spread Leandro’s folds and with the other he positioned the hairbrush, the end of the handle just touching the prince’s entrance. Again he checked in on Leandro’s face, looking for any sign of discomfort – but the prince looked delighted, annoyingly so. In that moment Krysa decided to fuck the smug look off his face.
Krysa inserted the brush handle, a little faster than he would have ordinarily – not that there’s an ordinary form of operation for fucking with a brush handle. It slid in easily with how soaked Leandro was, and the prince’s hips twisted a little. His breathing picked up again, and Krysa half-worried he would hyperventilate.
“Breathe slower!” he ordered, “Relax.”
Leandro visibly struggled to get his breath under control, but after a few moments it slowed, and he visibly relaxed.
“Good,” Krysa clipped, and started moving the brush. Out, in, a slight upward push. Again, again. Leandro moaned through the stocking. His hips twitched eagerly.
“You want more?” Krysa teased, “If this is how hot you get for a hairbrush I can’t imagine what my cock would do to you.”
The idea was there – Krysa was hard, and had been for a good minute: but they’d agreed on the hairbrush, and Krysa wasn’t about to alter course while the prince was this… vulnerable.
Strange, to think of the prince as vulnerable. He was an overpowered little ass, he got everything he wanted, but here he was being putty in Krysa’s hands. Krysa certainly could fuck him, if he wanted to, and he realized he did very much want to; and yet, they’d agreed on the hairbrush, in that frenzied way the lustful agree on things. It was better to honor that.
Leandro whimpered with ecstasy at Krysa’s words, and in response the bodyguard moved the brush more forcefully, pressing it in deeper. With his other hand he found Leandro’s clit again, engorged and desperate, and massaged it gently. Leandro sighed in time with his breath, an ah, ah, ah that made Krysa’s blood rush. The vocalizations grew in volume and the prince’s hips curled up, inviting the brush handle in farther still. Krysa maintained his rhythm, carrying Leandro over the edge. The prince’s hips bucked and his body shuddered, falling silent as aftershocks and tremors ran up and down his limbs. Krysa slowly extracted the hairbrush, Leandro making one last small noise as it slipped wetly out of him. Krysa moved over him, pulling the stocking out of his mouth.
“Are you-”
“That was incredible!” Leandro rushed out, “You really, you know what you’re doing, I mean, you could have been rougher but-”
“Are you alright?” Krysa spoke forcefully over him.
“What? Of course! Why wouldn’t I-”
“Open.” Krysa lifted the hairbrush.
“Huh?”
“Open!”
Leandro opened his mouth and Krysa shoved in the hairbrush handle, still slick with the prince’s fluids. Then he sat back on Leandro’s thighs.
“I like you better when you can’t talk.”
Leandro giggled, muffled by the handle.
“I’m going now,” declared Krysa, climbing off the bed, “I will be seeing you tomorrow.”
With that the bodyguard strode out of the room, out of the prince’s chambers, making haste towards his own. His own body was desperate for some attention, and while his lustful mind sang with delight, his rational mind reeled. That was dangerous. That was out of order.
Yet, lust won out: that was hot.
I have to ask why is the marauders fandom so obsessed with Sirius and his looks? You guys act like he’s this Casanova but there’s no proof of it. Yes, he’s mentioned to be good looking but I’ve met my fair share of pretty boys who turn me off as soon as they open their mouths. Everything around Sirius is always made so sexual… it’s either Wolfstar or Jilypad. It’s like you guys can’t get over this looks and dig deeper into his personality, family history, and his life story. There’s so much material and stories that could be told but everyone focuses on his looks and it’s so condescending. If you guys do tell his story it’s like 20% his story 80% of everyone trying to shag him. I can’t find one story that actually does a great job of telling the brotherhood between the marauders, without turning it into some story of how everyone is obsessed with Sirius’ looks. James and Sirius were brothers in every way but in blood. We don’t know much about Lily and Sirius but with the letter sent she obviously cared enough to reach out to him because James missed his best friend and was having a hard time at the cottage. Remus and Sirius relationship is tragic and isn’t talked about enough. The guy was willing to become an animagus to help him but didn’t trust him enough to think I he was working against the order? Then there’s Peter who is by far the most underrated marauder and fooled them all, and got Sirius sentenced to Azkaban for 12 years. There’s so much more to Sirius then his looks and making up sexual relationships with the marauders. I used to love marauder fandom but the new writers have ruined everything and turned it into stories of everyone wanting to shag Sirius. There’s no plot, no story line, only the whole wizarding world fawning over how gorgeous Sirius is.
My poor dear anon,
What shallow, misguided corners of the fandom have you found yourself into?
I don't know if you found me through my writing or my latest shitpost. Probably the latter, because if you'd spent any time around here, you'd know that Sirius, for me, is so much more than someone to fawn over and shag - he's one of the most intelligent, most loyal, most characters and I'm fascinated by so many more of his facets than his indubitable handsomeness. (I do love to thirst over good artwork of him, but that's not exclusive to him.) I don't really have much tolerance for people who view Sirius as the person you describe and I don't engage with them.
But let's take a look at some definitions before we proceed.
1. The Marauders fandom. These days this is a term that hardly means anything, as it's been liberally adopted by anyone who focuses on any HP character who was alive sometime before Halloween 1981. Wolfstar shippers and Jilypad shippers, for instance, are two different groups with very little overlap, in my experience.
2. Sexualization. Sexualization means to reduce someone to their physical attractiveness and sexual potential and ignore their other qualities and characteristics. It does not mean being in a romantic relationship and/or having sex.
So, anon, I believe one of two things is what's at play here:
Possibility #1: You found yourself in some corner of the fandom that does sexualize Sirius. I don't know where that might be - I think even Wolfstar doesn't do that (it seems to me that they have the opposite problem these days, sexualizing Remus instead!). My main ship is Jily, though, and I find that overall people here have great appreciation for Sirius.
Come to the dark side. We have cookies biscuits, we appreciate Sirius as a friend to James and Lily (oh look, a whole fic fest dedicated to Sirius's friendship with Lily!), and while himbo Casanova Sirius used to be a popular trope in the mid-00s, I haven't seen it in fic since I got back into fandom two years ago.
(Disclaimer: There are always going to be thirsty fics. Prongsfoot, Lilypad and Jilypad, which I delve into, are not devoid of that either. And sometimes you just acknowledge that Sirius is one of the hottest characters in HP and just want to see him in action. Those fics are E-rated and usually pretty easy to avoid, and do not, in my experience, constitute the norm of how Sirius is treated within these fandoms.)
Possibility #2: You just don't like shippy fic at all; you want to read gen instead. That's completely valid, and I understand that completely non-shippy fic is hard to find. Especially with Jily being canon, so if you have to explore Sirius in a canon context there's probably going to at least be a side of Jily - that people always tag, because ships make or break fics for lots of readers, and it's recommended to tag for even minor presence or mention of a ship.
It does seem to me that the Marauders fandom now is more ship-focused than it used to be, I agree with you. I feel like gen fic back then was easier to find. I'd attribute that to a lot of us being older now and more interested in more "adult" situations, where some sort of romance is usually present, compared to the mostly teenaged fandom of 20 years ago that was more concerned with friendship and teenage shenanigans. But there are still people interested in Sirius and his non-romantic relationships with others - like those of us who wrote for Blackevans BFF fest (linked previously) and the people writing for @goodgodfathersiriusblack.
Bottomline: Do you want good quality Sirius content, or do you want Sirius content exactly how you want it? I can help with the first - stick around for posts, fics and recs. For the second, you'll have to be the change you want to see in the world.
Ten Lines, Ten People
Rules: Share the first 10 lines of your 10 most recently posted fics, and then tag 10 people. I didn't go with exactly 10 lines since how much I should share felt different for each fic, but it's my post so whatever. And I went with 10 recent fics, not the 10 most recent fics due to the fact I'm in Multiamory March rn and that would mess stuff up.
I was tagged by the lovely @mad-elia, so go look at lilies entry first ^-^
“Almost everything you do is unsafe, Darling. At least you have an expert helping you, and a properly trained dragon.”
Bliss
“Oh my god, I forgot you guys are all way too Mormon. Did you not know gay people existed? I think the rest of them know gay people exist.” “No, I didn’t! What’s a gay?” “You, apparently, by how you’re all nervous about this.”
Viva la Gays, Right?
Sparrow, on the other hand, isn't as sweet. He'll only accept a flower if it's shot at him with an arrow, and he calls Daring a dork every time he tries to recite poetry. Instead, the way to his heart is through flattery.
Daring's Affections
“I hate America. Everyone has a gun and three Wasingtonians have threatened to shoot me because I’m on their property so far. That’s how I died the second time, I don’t need that!” “Jack,” Ianto said, voice level over the phone, “you sound American and you have dozens of guns. You do not get to make moral judgments here.” “I’m not making a moral judgment, I’m pointing out how annoying they are.” “Honey, you are also annoying.”
Vampire Hunter
Apple peers through the window, catching sight of a band. Almost all of them are girls, with one guy on the keyboard. He doesn’t catch her interest, though, as she’s too struck by how gorgeous the women in the band are. One has snow-like hair, interrupted by shocks of icy blue. Another one has matching white hair, but in a different style with streaks of pastel pink, matching her rebelliously torn skirt. There’s a girl with hot pink and red mixed into her brown hair, and a fiery, hungry-for-the-world expression plastered across her face. There’s one with a gentle smile, dawning baby blue and playing her instrument with her eyes closed, like she knows the song too intimately to look at it.
You Are Gonna Rock It, Apple! - Chapter 4: Rock Me To The Core
“I miss her, Apple.” “I’m sure.” “Is this what happens to everyone? Bones in the ground that no one thinks about? That get dug up a dozen times? Do we have no life after death?” “Philosophy is for when we’re at school, Raven.”
Ever After Hamlet - Act Five
As is often the case in stories like this, the hero only meets three challenges along her quest. The next figure she meets is her dear Sparrow. But he has obscured himself, his clothes replaced with those of a prisoner and the few items he has stolen. In addition, his time in the woods has changed him. His eyes have a darker look to them, and he’s far from the kept look of most noblemen. As for Cedar, she comes across as a miserable young man, her once perpetually happy face worn tired with grief and longing. Her eyes- those of a widow, while far too young for it to fit. With neither bringing a spark of familiarity to the other, they see each other as they would see any other figure in these woods. As a foe, to be disposed of.
Ballad 150
Good, Martha thinks. She’s no stranger to people getting melted to some degree– she’s seen some weird stuff during her interplanetary travels– but this time it’s deserved. They end up back at Martha’s flat. Kitty’s has been taken back by the landlord, so Martha says that Kitty can crash on her couch as long as she needs. Secretly, Martha hopes it’ll be a while. She hopes it might morph into forever, even, but that part is so secret that she herself doesn’t realize it. Plus, she and Kitty haven’t really solidified into a “something” yet. They’re more of an “almost” for now.
First Kiss
“Listen, you Sparrows and Bluejay have gotten on my nerves for the last time. Tonight you will be given a taste of your own medicine. Again, in trial by combat.” “This is stupid!” “Yeah, this is beep!” “Call it what you want. You all need to chill out.” “Wait,” a cat slinks forward, “are all of the ladies in the stands Cedar?” “Hey!” Bluejay chirps, “my girl is Woodpecker!” The cat defensively puts up his paws and hops backwards. Brooke sighs, “Yes, all of you somehow managed to pull your respective Cedars. How you managed it, I’ll never know.”
Into the Sparrowverse
Serena sits next to him, "You're still upset about that." "I am. But I talked through it with Greninja, and I'll be fine. I just have to ground myself next time I battle." Serena smiles, brushing some snow off of his hair. "You're a lot different from the guy who jumped off Clemont's gym." He shakes his head, "I jumped off a cliff while I was out there to save a Spewpa." "Hm. Maybe jumping off of things to save people is just a core part of who you are, then?"
A Slight Smile
King and Queen | S.B
Paring: Sirius Black X Fem!Potter!Reader, James Potter X Fem!Twin!Reader
Summary: James goes through a lot during his time at Hogwarts but his sister is always by his side.
Inspiration: Click
A/N: If this comes off insensitive to anyone please let me know and I will remove this.
James Potter was a handful. From the minute he was born, he had this gleam in his hazel eyes that raged and burned with trouble. His twin, Y/n Potter, was almost the opposite. The soft smile that laid on her features and the glitter of calamity in her eyes. Euphemia and Fleamont were in for a lot the minute their twins were born.
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is most comparative to having a web browser up with one too many tabs. James had always been unable to focus and was naturally messy. Truth be told, he thought it was normal, just as everyone else did. It wasn’t until his second year at Hogwarts did he realize something was genuinely wrong with him.
Remus told him that he had this muggle thing called “dyslexia,” which was a difficulty in interpreting words, letters, and other symbols. However, it never affected his overall intelligence because everyone knew that Remus Lupin was indeed and wholly brilliant. It got James wondering, did his inability to focus, be organized, and hyperactivity have a deeper meaning?
His twin - Y/n - was quite the opposite. She made quick friends with Remus, Sirius, and Peter, who were close friends of her twin. Y/n was top of their class, creating a friendly competition with Remus, but she was always able to focus. Often she would hyper-focus, which would leave her working for over five hours at a time without realizing it. In those times, James would have to snap her out of it.
Over the summer, James expressed his concerns to his parents. He was talking about how this could be a real issue he’s facing using Remus’ dyslexia as an example. Eventually, they gave in, letting James go to a muggle doctor. James had to fill out a questionnaire that would come back with his results in one week. That week was probably the longest week of his life. Nonetheless, his test results had come back positive.
Fleamont and Euphemia would be lying if they were surprised. After hearing about the disorder, it was almost the definition of their eldest son. Fortunately for James, the muggles had come up with a cure - no, not a cure - dammit, what was it again?
Impede the symptoms! That’s what those muggle pills do. James was required to take two pills a day, one in the morning and once at night. Y/n was in charge of making sure he did so because - more times than he’d like to admit - he would forget everything if it wasn’t for Y/n.
In third year, James was as energetic as ever while getting on the Hogwarts Express, “Aren’t you excited, Y/n?!”
She chuckled, “Yes, but Merlin, you don’t need to literally jump with joy.”
“But I’m excited!”
“I know that.”
They made their way to the compartment that held Remus, who was reading a book. James sat in front of him while Y/n took her seat beside Remus, “‘Ello Remus.”
“Hey, Potter pair.”
Y/n sighed, and James groaned, “That nickname needs to go away.”
“I quite like it.” Remus stated smugly, “Suits you both.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?” Y/n accused falsely, “It means that wherever one of you are, the other isn’t that far behind.” Remus replied.
James had zoned out already, and Y/n snapped in his face, “Take your pills?”
“Forgot.” James muttered guiltily, “Oh Godric.” She whispered.
“Pills?”
“James went to a muggle doctor this summer.”
Remus quirked an eyebrow, “Did you now?”
“Got diagnosed with ADHD.” James informed, and Remus looked amiss, “Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.”
“Ah, I’ve heard of that.” Remus said, and James smiled sheepishly, “I feel kinda odd, like out of place.”
“Why?”
“Dunno, just, why can't I be normal?”
“You are normal, James.” Y/n reassured, “And anyone who says differently obviously doesn’t care about you.”
The compartment door slammed open, “Who doesn’t care about who?”
Remus snorted, “Ever the dramatics, huh, mate?”
“‘Course.” Sirius flopped down beside James, “It comes with my charm and devilishly good looks.”
“Ah, yes.” Y/n said, chuckling, “Don’t you see how I’m swooning for you?”
The back of her palm was against her forehead, “Come off it.” James swatted at her and then elbowed Sirius, “Better not make my sister swoon.”
Sirius chuckled and shrugged, “Can’t help it. I’m just that irresistible.”
The four of them laughed at Sirius’ dramatics and continued talking about the new term. Remus and Y/n were talking about books they couldn’t wait to read. Remus was even kind enough to gift her some muggle books he bought over the summer holiday. Sirius and James bickered about what pranks to do this year, along with which ones were better.
Third-year was fun. It was a year of flooding corridors, turning Slytherin robes red and blasting music in the common room after a Gryffindor victory. James was a brilliant Quidditch Chaser, and Y/n was a fantastic Seeker. Nothing was quite like the Potter pair. Something about them was just unforgettable.
Maybe that’s why Sirius was so fond of her. Something about the Potters made people around them smile on the hardest of days. They made sure that every moment was a night to remember. Every memory was worth reliving. So adventurous, so reckless, yet so kind and loving.
By the time fifth year rolled around, Sirius Orion Black had fallen off a cliff into a lake called love. Sirius completely submerged himself in love for Y/n Potter. The younger twin by just 20 minutes, but something about her was so divine. Was it her silk and glittering h/c hair? No - maybe it was her gleaming e/c eyes. Perhaps it was for her strive for adventure and extreme kindness.
Nonetheless, Sirius fell hard.
And who better to tell than James Potter himself?
Causally - as usual - Sirius opened the door to the Marauders dorm. It was empty aside from the brunet boy with glasses on the bridge of his nose. His hazel eyes were focused on a textbook - Potions textbook - maybe it was to impress Lily. Sirius couldn’t care less, so he pulled the chair out in front of the desk and sat before James.
“Mate, I need your help.”
“Running from Filch?”
“No. Something- Something worse.”
“Something worse?” The textbook shut loudly.
Sirius nodded, “Way worse.”
“Alright then, come into my office.” James teased, and Sirius grinned.
It was silent, “I’m in love with your sister.”
James sputtered, “Excuse me?”
“I’m in love with Y/n.”
“No, no.” James waved his hand horizontally, “I heard you.”
“Then what else would you like me to say?” Sirius asked.
“Literally anything else.”
“Sorry, mate.” Sirius muttered, “I- I really didn’t mean to.”
James chuckled and wiped his hand across his face, “I suppose you can’t really stop love, huh?”
“You really can’t.” Sirius agreed, “I tried. I promise I tried.”
“It’s not that big of a deal late.” James assured, and Sirius looked at him with wide eyes, “I trust you just-“
“Just?”
“I’m worried about her.” James completed, “I- I worry about her every night.”
Sirius softened, “It’s like you with Regulus-“ James continued before Sirius could interject, “And don’t pretend. Your silencing charms are bloody terrible.”
“I know you still care for Regulus, you worry about him every night, and I do the same for Y/n, except my silencing charms are better.” James teased sightly, “I trust you, Sirius. You’re the brother I never got but always wanted. You know, the brother I can play Quidditch with, rough around with, the brother who’s just as sneaky and mischievous as I.”
“But Y/n is still my blood. She's my twin, my best friend, my partner in crime. She was the mind behind my pranks before Remus.” James elaborated and then smirked, “Remus and Y/n make a great team, ya’ know?”
“They are quite brilliant.”
“Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, take care of her?” James looked like the eleven-year-old boy again, “Don’t make her a fling and don’t make this temporary.”
“Y/n is a strong woman, and she isn’t for weak men. I’ll be honest,” James chuckled, “She doesn’t need a man. She doesn’t even really need me. I need her more than she needs me. Regardless, take care of her. She deserves a man worthy of her. Someone that’ll get her ice cream at 4 a.m. because she’s craving it. Someone that’ll go on sporadic trips with her. Someone that’ll understand that after a hard day, all she wants is a book and coffee.”
Sirius was appalled; he’d never seen James look so passionate, “Growing up, mum always told me to be a gentleman. I know it may not seem like it sometimes, but she always raised me as one. To hold a door for them, push and push in their chairs for them, give them my jacket even if I’ll freeze.”
“Those kinda things. Dad said I should practice on Y/n, and I did. From then, Y/n always got treated like a queen, and she deserves no less. I won't lie, my parents treat me like a king too, and I don’t want any less either.” James explained, “Be the king that’s worthy of my sister.”
“That’s all I ask of you.”
Sirius nodded, “I’d be honored to serve her as my queen.”
“And if you show her no less, she’ll spit you out like chewing gum.”
He shuttered, “I hate how accurate that phrase is.”
James laughed, “I know her more than you think.”
By sixth year they were dating. Sirius would be lying if he wasn’t eternally shitting himself when Y/n said yes to going to Hogsmeade with him, alone, as a date. In fact, James almost wanted to throw him a party for finally not being a little bitch and asking out his sister. This party consisted of a bottle of firewhiskey and chocolate because that’s all that was in the boy's dormitory. But a party nonetheless.
When Lily rejected James for the last time before graduation, he was utterly heartbroken. He’d spent and dedicated seven years of his life to this gorgeous woman. Despite all his efforts and all his charms, she still wasn’t interested. James tried. He really tried. He wanted Lily so bad. His heart broke when she said her final words of goodbye.
“I’m sorry, Potter. Maybe in another life, just not this one.”
Tears had ebbed at the corner of his eyes as he made his way back into the castle from the Black Lake. In the common room, where he felt like he had just got dowsed in water. James made his way to the girl's dormitory. His hand curled into a fist and knocked lightly on the wooden door. Shuffling was heard from the other side, and the door finally opened, revealing his sister.
Without warning, James crashed into her arms, forcing his nose in the crook of her neck, “Woah.”
“Are you okay, James?”
His body shook with sobs as he shook his head no, “It’s okay. Let’s go lay down, okay?”
Gently she led him to her bed. He curled up beneath the navy blue comforter and placed his head on the silk pillow sheets. If he tried hard enough, he could forget the way Lily’s hair smelt today or the way her green eyes glistened in the sun. Now engulfed in his sister's scent, trying to remove every feeling for Lily possible, he dug his nose deeper into the comforter.
Y/n sat beside him, her back to the headboard, and ran her fingers through James’ already untied hair, “What's got you so worked up?”
“It’s done.”
“What’s done?”
“L- Lily and I.” James choked, “She- She really doesn’t want me.”
A new wave of tears overcame him, and Y/n continued to try and soothe him, “Well, she’s a tosser.”
James narrowed his eyes, “James, you know I love her. She's my best friend, but if she can’t see what’s right in front of her, then she’s an idiot.”
“Can I- Can I stay here tonight?” He asked hesitantly.
“You sure you don’t want me to stay at your dorm?” Y/n questioned, “Because you know who sleeps here.”
“Will you stay with me?”
“Till the end.”
After a couple of minutes, Y/n and James made their way down the steps to the boy's side. They walked up more steps and finally made it to the boy's dormitory. James collapsed on his bed in the left corner of the room, and Sirius perked up at seeing his girlfriend enter the room.
“Whatcha doin’ here, love?”
“Staying with my brother.”
Sirius nodded and stood up to hug her, gently pecking her forehead, “If you guys need anything, let me know, ‘kay?”
“Thanks, Siri.”
Gently Y/n pulled back the maroon curtain and sat down beside him again. James reached for her hand and intertwined their fingers. Something they used to do as kids. When a thunderstorm would go by, James would always seek sanctuary in his sister's comfort.
He fell asleep that night, knowing he was safe, loved, and knew that someone cared about him. Even if Lily didn’t love him, at least someone else did. He had his boys, and he had his sister. Right now, that’s all he needed beside him: Screw Lily and her idiot decision skills. Y/n was right; she was a complete tosser.
When Hogwarts was over, James and Y/n got a flat together. Sirius, Remus, and Peter got one only a floor above. Realistically this wasn’t the plan. James always planned to buy a house with Lily, but he was still healing, and after everything going on, it was vital for him to hold his sister close to him.
Euphemia and Fleamont barely lived to see their children graduate. Not too long afterward had died due to the horrid dragon pocks. It devastated both twins and Sirius. While Sirius wasn’t their true child, he very well could’ve. Euphemia noticed Sirius’s lingering stares on Y/n and the loopy smile that graced his features.
She was the one who got Sirius to man up. She was the one who gave him advice. She was the one who told him what books were her favorite, which chocolate she liked the best, her favorite quills. Euphemia was one of the main components in getting Sirius to date her daughter, and when it finally happened, the parents couldn’t have been happier.
James’ ADHD still remained even in his adulthood, making regular everyday tasks much harder and twice as long. Most of the time, the pills were able to help him complete those tasks. But sometimes, when Y/n wasn’t there to remind him, he would miss his days. When Y/n got home from work, she had barely taken off her shoes to see the apartment spotless.
It was a pleasant surprise, but James was never really one to clean, not that she really minded, but the apartment didn’t have a speck of dust on it. Hesitantly she put her keys on the island along with her bag.
“James!”
“Yes, Y/n?”
He appeared in the kitchen where Y/n was, “Um, did you clean the apartment?”
“Yes, I did!” James nodded enthusiastically.
Y/n sighed and gave her brother a sweet smile, “What did you not do today?”
“So, you know how you told me to go to the pharmacy?”
“Mhm.” Y/n nodded, “Indeed I do.”
“Well, they were out of my meds.” James informed, “I have to wait a week.”
“Oh, Merlin.”
“On the bright side!” James was already causing her a headache, “It’s gonna be a fantastic week! I’ve got so many things planned for us! We’re gonna go-“
James continued to ramble as Y/n grabbed her keys, bag and slipped back on her shoes, “I’m going to Sirius’!”
“Thought you were my sister.” James faked pouting, and Y/n smiled, “I love you, but you’re crazy.”
“I love you too!” He yelled as she closed the door.
Note
I saw a creator on tik tok talking about gaylor and was making heavy implications that she was talking about you. She said she never believes leaks that come from within the industry (such as the tily rep tour info) because celebrities purposefully plant rumors in order to see who the rats are on their team and diminish the reliability of rumors about them in the media in general. basically to confuse people so when the rumors are true there is deniability. Thoughts?
the idea that people leak bad info to rats comes from i believe a blind item about zayn and taylor so talk about naively believing gossip like blinds are sometimes true but also full of absolute fanfic. i’ve never heard that celebs do that from anyone in the industry.
but regardless wherever that idea comes from it doesn’t matter-
the tily tea comes from andy who spoke to someone who worked on rep tour. they were not *told* anything by taylor. they witnessed shit go down with their own eyes and then told andy “taylor is gay but she’s boring, she had a blonde british model bitch girlfriend on rep tour”
so this wasn’t a line fed to this person. it was something they witnessed. taylor being boring (watching a lot of friends if i recall correctly) but being involved with a blonde british model. lily donaldson is a blonde british model who travelled with taylor on rep tour.
BUT FURTHERMORE that would all just be hearsay if there wasn’t piles and piles of great evidence, song clues, and connections put together by @tilynation taylor released a bunch of music and content on lily’s birthday, spend a ton of private time with her including holidays like thanksgiving (i recall late november holding my breath), then running away to london with her (would you run away with me) and halloween(where taylor was seen drinking wine in the bathtub), went to lily’s home neighborhood to film part of the end game music video, the two flirted on social media, taylor references lily’s golden tattoo in dress, references lily spending time with leo on yachts on the man, lily wore special snake jewelry during rep era (the same brand of jewelry that richard burton famously gave elizabeth taylor - burton to this taylor), lily has blue eyes and an accent just like the gorgeous muse (karlie has green eyes and no accent), and lily is basically known to be bi and almost publicly dated rihanna (and ofc taylor says you like the bad ones too, rihanna goes by badgirlriri and has a song called bad) and that’s just scratching the surface. oh and taylor probably got lily’s vs ring. and lily and taylor got close the second karlie left taylor’s life all in the fall of 2016.
so yeah it’s not JUST the tea i got it’s the entire huge mountain of evidence and references to tily.
karlie left in 2016 and lily took over just like dianna left in 2013 and karlie took over. imagine if people sat around and insisted taylor and dianna were together in 2014 when they weren’t ever seen together and karlie obviously is the gf at that point. that’s the same silliness of saying karlie and taylor stayed gfs after fall of 2016 when lily obviously took over. the tea is supported by evidence and the timeline and that’s why we believe it. not just because we heard a rumor. at this blog we apply WAY more scrutiny than other gaylors, most of whom have an emotional attachment to shipping kaylor and really need the last four albums to entirely be about karlie instead of a myriad of muses which to me they obviously are.
but just to round things out andy has shared other tea including that taylor was going to come out during the lover era which is now confirmed and that bayley was a thing which is now confirmed. andy also shared that toe was real which taylor basically confirmed herself a few days ago. i shared ALL that stuff before we got those confirmations.
andy’s connections are legit and she has proven that and that she is trust worthy. anyone who denies it is not here for the truth but instead here to ship kaylor which would be fine if they would just admit it. but they don’t and that is pretty annoying.
Now and for eternity| Lucifer Morningstar x reader
Fandom: Lucifer ( netflix)
Request:” Can you write an imagine where Lucifer’s wife is like this well known social light that owns her own luxury fashion brand and she starts receiving gifts from an obsessed secret admirer and Lucifer is unknowingly being targeted by the secret admirer who is trying to kill Lucifer in order to get the reader and Lucifer thinks it’s his father trying to ‘strike’ him down for some unknown reason until Chloe point out someone that correlates with the readers secret admirer and Lucifer’s attacker. Feeling some type away about it Lucifer decides to taunt the secret admirer by upping the PDA and romantic gestures getting a kick out in it much to Chloe’s dismay. And once the secret admirer is caught Lucifer rubs it in their face that the reader is his for now and all of eternity before showing the secret admirer his true face. ”
Genre: fluff? I guess
Warnings:death threats, stalking, attempted murder
~~~
It wasn’t unusual to receive gifts and flowers at your office. After all, with the job you worked and the wealthy people you collaborated with, the presents simply represented one of the many perks of being a designer. Except, one friday morning, while examining a particularly beautiful bouquet of pink lilies, you noticed the little card that came with it
“I know they are some of your favorite - <3 “
Usually, work associates would leave a name. Some way for you to know that they value your work and are thinking of you (and maybe to flatter you into giving them a discount), but there was no name on this card, just a tiny heart in a glittery, pink gel pen. Pink lilies were, indeed, your favorite.
You brought the flowers home and told your husband, Lucifer, all about the mysterious gift. You had talked to your secretary and even she didn’t know where the flowers came from, since no one came to drop off lilies that morning. You presumed the sender must have simply forgotten to sign the card, and perhaps your secretary had forgotten about them, with the busy morning she’d had. You and Lucifer had a laugh, imagining the shy and anxious intern that was probably assigned the job, and the scolding they’ll get when their boss finds out about their mistake.
The next morning, a box of your favorite chocolates were waiting for you on your desk. There wasn’t any note, just the same heart, written in the same glitter pen. You dismissed it as a weird coincidence and moved on to working on your designs.
Without you knowing, this also happened to be the first time Lucifer would be faced with a very interesting note. As he was getting ready to leave the police station, he noticed a piece of yellow paper, stuck to his windshield
“Back off of Y/N. Consider this your first and last warning” no signature. Anyone in Lucifer’s place would have lost their shit, but he paid it no mind. He was the devil after all! If anyone wants to take his precious Y/N away from him, well, they can try. It would make things all the more fun. He folded the paper and stuffed it in his pocket before heading home.
The couple shared Y/N’s chocolates that night, talking about who this person might be. Lucifer wasn’t as amused as he had been the night before, if anything he was rather concerned but he didn’t want to say anything about the note to Y/N, because she would freak out.
Nothing really happened for the next week. Anonymous gifts stopped showing up at Y/N’s office, Lucifer didn’t get any more notes and things were falling back in their place, until the day right after Y/N’s latest photoshoot went public and viral. It was all to promote her upcoming clothing line. As soon as she walked into the office the next day, she spotted a red, velvet box, the size of a notebook, in the middle of her desk. On top of it, a note written in the same glittery pink as the other gifts
“Congratulations on your new line. Those photos are gorgeous - J.P. <3”
Inside the box was a gorgeous diamond necklace, looking like it was worth millions. If you hadn’t been concerned about the sudden apparition of all these gifts so far, you sure were now. You immediately called your husband to tell him about the mysterious jewelry, but he didn’t pick up. Unbeknown to you, he was busy ranting to detective Decker.
“I mean, not to be dramatic, detective, but the situation does feel like it’s spiralling out of control. Death threats, sure, those come every other weekend, kind of like fanmail, y’know? But actual gun shots fired at my head, well, that’s where I draw the line.” he ended with a giggle. Lucifer was leaning on Decker’s desk as she was examining the bullet casings Lucifer had brought her from his apparent ‘attempted assasination’
“Where did this happen again?” she said, not taking her eyes off of her work
“Right by that coffee shop ms. Lopez always talks about. I may have lost a bet to her the other day and have to get her coffee for the rest of the week, so I was just exiting the shop when a masked man in a dark blue BMW zoomed by, pointing his gun at me and shooting blindly. I mean, that is the most basic attemp at murder I have ever witnessed. At least make it interesting!”
“Lucifer, if someone is out for your life, it’s serious business”
“Why would it be? It’s not like I can actually die, detective! Plus, it’s probably not that deep anyways. Just, dear old dad coming after me again for no particular reason. Very characteristic of him.”
“ You’re getting ahead of yourself. Whoever sent this wants you and Y/N apart, why would your dad want that?”
“Because he’s a prick who disagrees with everything and anything that makes me happy?” Lucifer concludes with an innocent smile “And, of course, Y/N being moral, our marriage goes against the heavenly rules of the almighty, so he’s trying to break us apart, but worry not detective! Me and Y/N are stronger and more in love than ever. My father will simply have to accept that. Nothing will break us apart” he said, puffing his chest out with confidence
“That’s good to hear Lucifer, but I still think we should stay open to different possibilities”
“Oh, come on detective, that would be a waste of our time. I know my father better than anyone, believe me when I tell you this is his hand and no one else's. Case closed! Now, let’s move to the next one! Chop chop detective, murders won’t solve themselves!” Lucifer said, marching out of the precinct. Chloe rolled her eyes at her partner, before hiding the bullets and the note in her desk and going after him.
Although it didn’t bother you, you couldn’t help but notice how much more touchy Lucifer had been with you, ever since the necklace incident. He needed to touch you at all times: when you were out for coffee, at lunch, at the station, in your office, in Lux. His hand was always either around your waist or tangled in yours. You felt sort of bad, thinking he must be a little insecure with this secret admirer being after you at all times, but you wanted him to know that you loved him more than anything and that no matter what, you would never leave him for a faceless man, no matter how many pearls and chocolates he bribes you with. And so, you decided to play along with him, giving him as much attention as you could. Your visits at the station almost doubled, you always cleared your schedule to make time for him and even decided to start work later in  the day than usual, so you could spend more time with him in the morning.
One afternoon, as you were enjoying your time with Decker and Lucifer during their lunch time, one of the notes from your secret admirer slipped out of your pocket. You didn’t realise it until Chloe picked it up
“Oh, I was going to throw that out”
“Where’s this from?” she asked, studying the note
“Just one of this week's gifts” you confessed awkwardly. Without a second thought, the detective reached for her drawer, pulling out another note from inside and inspecting them side by side. Eventually, she placed them both in front of Lucifer
“Notice something interesting about the writing?”
“They are remarkably similar…”
“More like identical”
“What is that?” you asked, looking at the unknown note. Your heart sank as you read it
“I’ll explain everything at home dear, I swear” Lucifer said
“You’ve received death threats because of me?”
“I’ll tell you everything at home, I promise”
“You have initials…” Decker noticed
“Yeah, ever since my photoshoot, they’re present on every package”
“What floor is your office on again?”
“5th, why?”
“How can someone enter your office every morning without anyone, not even your secretary noticing, and exit just as mysteriously?” “Unless he found a different way in” Lucifer replied
“My window” you realise “You can step out directly onto the emergency staircase from there”
“He knew when to sneak in without being seen, so he must have known your schedule like the back of his hand. Who could know?”
“The only people who know it are my secretary and Lucifer”
“A stalker?” your husband suggested
“Maybe” Decker turned quickly to her computer “I’m going to check any business owners around that neighbourhood who could have had a close shot of when you enter and exit your studio, see if any initially match the ones on the notes. We’ll go from there”
You thanked Chloe for the help and went home with Lucifer, who spent the entire car ride explaining the note to you and the events of the previous days. You were angry at him for keeping all of it away from you, but ultimately happy that he was safe. You spent the night drinking wine and rewatching all of your comfort movies, to calm your nerves.
You decided to try working from home for the next couple of days, too scared by the idea of a stranger following your every move. It was a challenging process but Lucifer did his best in helping you get accustomed to this new routine. His homemade meals could not compare to anything you would eat while in a meeting with your business associates. Plus, the company was much more delightful.
Chloe texted you, almost a week later, to come down to the station as quickly as possible. They had found the guy. You hopped into your car and when you finally arrived, Lucifer was waiting for you outside
“They found him?”
“Yes dear, they did”
“How?”
“Well, as it turns out he lived in the apartment building next door. His living room window had a great view of everything happening in your office. We’ve found a week’s worth of gifts he was planning to deliver. It’s him for sure”
“Thank you” you whispered before collapsing into Lucifer’s arms and hugging him tight
“It’s alright lovely. It’s over now. Let’s go see how the detective is handling it. I think they’re in the interrogation room now.”
From behind the glass, you watched the man that threatened your marriage and your husband's life, confess to everything. Admit to stalking you, in order to learn your schedule. Break into your office and open fire on Lucifer. More than enough to get him behind bars for a long time. Decker and Lucifer got up and were ready to leave, but your husband requested a couple of minutes alone with the man. The detective agreed, cautioning him to not do something stupid, before leaving them alone. Lucifer turned on his heels to face the man in handcuffs and you could instantly tell he was furious
“Truly an honorable try. Y/N is one of a kind, you were right about that, the only detail you missed is that, you see, she’s taken. By me” the mischievous smile on his face let you know that he was up to no good “Our bond is indestructible and it’s really laughable to think that you’ve risked so much to tear us apart when you didn’t stand a chance to begin with” Lucifer leaned over the table, now his back was facing you “Me and Y/N are, and forever will be, together. There is nothing you or anyone else can do to change that. She is mine and I am hers, now and for eternity” as his little speech came to an end, you noticed the man in handcuffs go pale with terror. He began shaking in his chair, screaming incoherently about the devil. Even tho you hadn’t see what your husband did, you could tell by the man’s reaction. You laughed to yourself, not even mad that Lucifer had used his devil face against this man. You would have done the same if you had the option.

There was no way you were staying in the same place that Måneskin had just arrived at. There was no way, you kept telling yourself. Paris was a massive city, the number of available hotels in the hundreds, maybe thousands if you had to guess. And yet, somehow, you had managed to pick the one place one of your new favourite obsessions would spend their time. You knew it didn't mean much, the hotel had more than a couple of rooms and with your luck, you wouldn't even catch a glimpse of them. But as you kept scrolling through Instagram, seeing pictures of people meeting the four Italians in front of the place you had checked into mere days ago, you couldn't fight a little bubble of excitement forming in your chest.
Well, you told yourself you wouldn't get your hopes up. And you definitely wouldn't hang around in front of the hotel or in the lobby. You had booked your solo trip to Paris months ago, after dreaming about visiting the city for most of your life, and you would be damned if you wouldn't stick to your itinerary and enjoy your holiday. However - you had gotten up at what felt like dawn to go queue up for the Louvre and spent the last couple of hours there, so you decided that a nap was the way to go if you wanted to continue exploring the city in the evening. Fortunately, the walk back to the hotel wasn't long.
You had made it to the last corner before entering the street you were aiming for, when two giggling girls ran past you, unceremoniously bumping your shoulder and sending you tumbling. You were fully expecting to hit the ground, but instead, a pair of strong arms caught you and brought you back to your feet. A pair of strong arms belonging to a strong chest that you came face-to-face with, belonging to a gorgeous face, belonging to Ethan Torchio.
"Tu vas bien?" His broad French accent confused you, momentarily forgetting about the little detail that you were, in fact, in France, as you stared at the drummer in front of you, who was still protectively holding onto your upper arms.
"Huh?" Was the immensely intelligent answer that thus left your mouth.
"Oh, not French?"
"No, definitely not French." You finally said, taking a step back from him to avoid the increasing awkwardness you were feeling about being touched by him, while the two girls who had previously knocked you down were now lingering around the two of you suspiciously, not coming close enough to be rude, but obviously desperate to get their own piece of Ethan. "No, just a tourist."
"Me too," Ethan smiled. "A tourist, I mean. Well, kind of. I'm here with my band so it's not like we have time to do a lot of sightseeing."
He briefly turned around to look at the two girls who still seemed frustrated at you hogging his time and gave a small wave before turning back to you. It was the movement that made you realise he had the most gorgeous red rose tucked into the waistband of his trousers. Well, it used to be the most gorgeous rose - after your little crash, it had bent in the middle, the top hanging only by a thread, in the most miserable fashion.
"Oh, no I am so sorry!" You gasped, carefully grasping the delicate petals that were on the verge of breaking off. "I must have crashed into it when you caught me."
"Don't worry about it," Ethan said, softly, and pulled the stem from his waistband. The flower looked even more tragic now, in all its crushed glory. "A fan gave it to me a few minutes ago."
"Huh?" You surely proved yourself articulate in this conversation. You mentally hit yourself, angry at yourself for being so easily flustered.
"There are a few fans waiting in front of our hotel, because we're in a ... band ... and things."
Apparently, your awkwardness was contagious. Also, it was becoming increasingly obvious that Ethan thought that you had no idea who he was.
"Let me get you a new one," you suggested. "There's a flower shop just two doors down from the hotel - I mean, I am staying there, too, so I know."
He smiled at you with a serenity and calmness that had your heart soaring. You decided you'd be willing to buy him a million roses if only he kept smiling at you like that for a little longer.
"Well, I've got to go now, but it would be rude to refuse your offer. Meet you in the bar of the hotel at 8 tonight?"
No way this was happening. You almost gasped, but at the last moment managed to keep your cool, outwardly. On the inside, you were a mess. Bumping into the drummer of one of your favourite bands was a wonderful chance meeting as it was - but this almost sounded like a date. Now, of course, Ethan wouldn't be asking you out on a date. That would be ridiculous. But there was also no way you would miss out on a chance to meet him again. Preferably without those two giggling girls that were still standing behind him, watching every move of your interaction but luckily too far away to hear what you were saying.
"It's a d- uh, deal," you quickly recovered before almost spitting out the word date instead. Ethan chuckled.
"Right, see you later, then, for our... deal."
He had seen right through you anyway, you thought. But he was still laughing, so it wasn't all that bad - right?
With another quick touch to your upper arm, Ethan walked past you, turning around just one last time.
"My name is Ethan, by the way. You can tell me yours tonight."
Oh, you would.
***
The rest of the day was... well, restless. You couldn't nap because your mind was a whirlwind and your stomach was twisting with excitement. So instead, you had made sure to get the prettiest red rose you could find in the flower shop down the street - while slightly wincing at the price that a shop in the center of the city of love demanded - and put it in a glass the hotel receptionist had been nice to give to you. Then you had decided that there was no way you would manage to relax before 8, so you allowed yourself a few hours simply wandering through the city, no real destination, no itinerary for once, just a nice long stroll with nothing but your thoughts.
At five past eight - being slightly late was still cool, right? - you did a quick check-up in the mirror, realised you were not going to get any happier with your appearance whatever you tried to do at this point, grabbed the rose from its makeshift vase, and left your room.
It only took you a second to see him when you entered the little bar on the ground floor of the hotel. Even in the dim light, the white blouse that he had already been wearing when you met for the first time stood out like a sore thumb. Long dark hair fell over his back in a silky fashion. You had never wanted to touch anyone's hair more.
You took one more deep breath and then walked over to Ethan, smile on your face and rose in your hand.
"A rose for the handsome gentleman?"
Ethan almost jumped, apparently not having heard you coming, but quickly a smirk spread over his face while he stood up.
"I'll take the rose and your name, then."
"It's Y/n."
Ethan greeted you with a soft kiss to your cheek, before taking the rose, pulling your chair back, and inviting you to sit. It was almost ridiculously romantic and if it had been anyone else it would have seemed over-the-top and off-putting, but with Ethan it seemed sincere and fitting.
"Glass of wine, Y/n?" He asked as he casually waved the waiter over to your table.
"Just one. I want to get up early tomorrow for some more sightseeing."
***
It didn't end up being just one glass. It ended up another one and then a bottle shared. But it also ended up with three hours of talking, laughing, teasing, and slowly moving your chairs closer together until you were basically sitting on the same side of the table. You had asked him about his band - still trying to cover up that you knew exactly who they were out of pure fear that he'd reject you for being a fan - and he has asked about your job, your life, your family. In fact, you only left the bar when the waiter had started throwing you annoyed looks while demonstratively cleaning the tables around you.
"I'll bring you to your room," Ethan chuckled lightly as you waited for the elevator. His hand was on the small of your back and it was spreading tingles all through your body. You were standing close enough that you could smell his perfume, a light yet musky scent that encapsulated everything about him.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, he lightly pushed you inside and you found yourself not minding him leading you like this. You pressed the button for your floor, leaning against the wall as you studied the man in front of you. He was a thing of beauty, no question about it, and when he smiled down at you the way he was right then and there, he made you feel like one, too.
"I had a lovely evening, Y/n. Is there any chance I could get your number?"
What a question, you thought to yourself. You'd be mad to refuse him!
You dug your phone out of your cluttered bag. You had switched numbers just a few weeks ago and had not yet learned the new digits by heart. Quickly, you switched it on - and your heart sank. Oh crap. You had completely forgotten about this.
The lockscreen of your phone was a picture of Måneskin.
As you looked up, you realized Ethan had seen. And, contrarily to the reaction that you were anticipating, he was wearing a massive grin.
"Ethan, I am so sorry, I should have told you immediately when we met but I kind of just stumbled into this and you were explaining you were in a band and I didn't know how to say-"
"Dolcezza, calm down. I've known all along."
"Wait - what?"
He didn't explain. Instead, he pointed to your bag - your tote bag - your Måneskin tote bag.
You truly felt like the least intelligent life form on earth.
"I've been carrying that around all day, haven't I?"
While your embarrassment grew, face heating up, Ethan grabbed your shoulders and pulled you into his body. His arms tightly wrapped around your body and you could feel his giggles in his chest, as your head was pressed against it. You didn't hesitate in reciprocating, clinging onto his torso, slowly swinging from side to side. Both of you caught in a tipsy stupor.
You only stopped when the elevator arrived at your floor, both of you stumbling out and dragging each other to your door while clinging on. When you reached your room, you let your back lean against it, pulling Ethan along so you were standing face to face, smiling at each other shily and yet never breaking eye contact.
"Why didn't you say anything?" You finally asked. He stroked your cheek, leaving goosebumps. He had now gotten so close that you could feel his breath on your, drowning in each other.
"I liked pretending."
And then he kissed you. Boldly, unafraid and passionate. You melted like putty under him, letting him take control while letting yourself fall, as his lips moved against yours.
You only pulled away enough to get another glance at him, before once again searching your bag, now one-handed, so you never quite had to let go of him. A small triumphant sound escaped you as you located the key card. Holding it up next to your face, you shot the man in front of you another smirk.
"Why don't we keep pretending? At least for tonight."
It wasn't an offer he was going to refuse.

Summary: Padfoot helps, James makes a fool of himself and Padfoot interrupts.
Or Lily's job as a dog walker is eventful.
_____________
“PADFOOT, NO!”
All in all, that’s the thing that Lily has been saying the most every day since she agreed to walk over that little beast that was released from hell exclusively to torment her.
The worst part is that this beast looks cute. Extremely cute, with the darkest and shiniest fur she has ever seen, warm brown eyes that look hugely sorry whenever he does something wrong (which seems to be all the time). Lily adores him except when Padfoot is misbehaving.
Again, all the time.
Every day since the first time she walked Padfoot, Lily has promised herself that she will inform his owner that she can’t do it anymore. But every day his owner looks at her apologetically, pays twice what they agreed on and winks at her as if asking “can you come back tomorrow, pretty please?”
Now, the double money is nice, Lily needs that job, the dog’s owner is not bad on the eye, but what makes her go back the next day is that Padfoot, that insufferable hellhound, comes back to nudge her with his wet nose, looking at her with his adorable eyes, and he looks so innocent that Lily agrees before she can think better.
But this is it. Seven days later, Lily is ready to finally give up, because Padfoot has done something graver than forcing her to change directions in the middle of the street so he can chase after pigeons, weirder than making her invade a house so he can chat with the cats and worse than invading a flower shop so he could sniff the flowers (and destroying half the plants in the process).
Padfoot pulled her towards a stranger.
For all his size, Padftoot isn’t an aggressive dog; but for all his size, when he is set into something, Lily and her one hundred and forty pounds can’t hold him, so before Lily can do anything more than scream (“PADFOOT, NO!”), Padfoot is running down the park, dragging her along, jumping towards a man and throwing him in the ground.
A second later, a full second in which Lily has time to reconsider every choice in her life that leads to this moment, the momentum throws Lily over the man in the ground.
And then for five very good seconds, Lily forgets all about Padfoot—if she thought about him, she might even thank him—because of every man in the world the dog could choose to jump over, he chose someone absolutely gorgeous. Lily notices first his face, his widen hazel eyes shining behind rectangular glasses, and a few wisps of his dark messy hair falling over his sweaty forehead. Then she sees his tanned skin, from his face to his chest—and when her eyes drop to his chest, she realizes he isn’t wearing any shirt, only some jogger pants, and she is thankful for the bright summer day because gods, he is fit.
Her hand over his chest twitches, and Lily swears she can feel his quick heartbeat—or perhaps it’s her pulse that is running quick, and Lily knows it was not the adrenaline of before.
“Wow,” he whispers, his voice mellow and deep and talking to her, and there is only—
Only a dog between them, licking the stranger’s very beautiful face, taking his glasses out.
“Hey, hey,” he says, laughing, and Lily remembers her current situation.
She jumps apart, knowing her face is deep red (and that embarrassment is only half the reason).
“I am so sorry!” she tells him, trying to pull Padfoot away. The man sits (damn those abs), hugging the dog, letting him keep his ministrations. “He has never—”
“That’s okay,” he tells her, grinning at her (damn this smile). “You are not a good boy, are you?”
Padfoot barks happily, looking very proud of himself.
“I’m really sorry, he doesn’t usually attack people and—” she looks at his dishevelled state (she is not admiring his body once more, she is not), with grass on his hair and dirt on his pants, not to mention all the drool over his face. “You are all dirty—”
“I was already in need of a shower,” he says distractedly (stop imagining him all wet). “I—oh.”
He doesn’t seem very concerned, but he turns his elbow to reveal a scratch from when he fell.
“Fuck, I’m so—”
“It’s no big deal,” he assures her easily. “I—”
“His house—I mean, his owner’s house is just across the street, let me help you.”
“Hm.” He seems strangely bashful. “Actually, I—”
“Just let me help you, please. I’ve been fixing his mess all week.”
“Hmmm.” He still seems opposed to the idea, his good hand scratching Padfoot’s hair almost absently. The dog looks very innocent there, standing with his mouth open, breathing fast. “I am James.”
“Oh,” she smiles at him, and his whole face alights with a grin of his own. “I’m Lily. Now that we know each other—”
“I’ll let you fix this mess,” he agrees, nodding, and when he accepts her hand to help him up, Lily tries to pretend she doesn't feel all the sparks.
_________
Because Padfoot always knows when he did something wrong, the return to his house is quiet and peaceful. He walks pompously, the image of the most behaved dog in the world, seeming glad about something that Lily can’t see.
Not that she is paying much attention, to be honest.
“So, what were you doing back there?” she asks, keeping her voice nonchalant.
“Meditation,” he says, and under her surprised look, James chuckles. To Lily’s dismay, he has picked up a shirt out of his bag, though he still looks very well. “Si… my best friend told me I had too much energy, I should try something to ease my mind.”
“Did it help?”
“Not very much. I was almost relaxing, but then there was this lady screaming and a dog—”
“I am so—”
“I’m joking! You really need to ease your mind too!” He throws her an amused laugh. “And what were you doing in the park?”
In answer, Lily shakes the leash in her hand. An adorable blush spreads over his cheeks.
“Yeah, of course, forget that I asked.”
Lily giggles softly. “Well, you may have hit your head,” she teases, though she is sure he didn’t.
“I hope so,” he whispers, and when her gaze meets his, the red in his cheeks intensifies. “I swear I don’t make a fool of myself usually. So—do you work with dog walking for very long?”
“Just one week actually—my first job is this little beast here.” In answer, Padfoot barks once more, proudly, agreeing with her.
“Padfoot is a nightmare,” James agrees, only fondness dropping from his voice as he stares at the dog.
Lily frowns. “How do you know?”
“'Cause he jumped over me?”
“No, how do you know he is called Padfoot?”
James blinks. “His tag?”
Lily nods slowly. “I guess… We are here.”
James has already stopped even before she says anything, but Lily doesn’t notice, busy opening the small gate to the backyard. Padfoot jumps once more, and this time she lets him loose, knowing he will only be running towards his favourite toys.
“You can wait there,” Lily tells James, indicating a few benches under a parasol in the backyard. “I’ll find some medical kit.”
James sits where she showed him, and he seems to struggle with something for a bit before— “I’d try the guest toilet, first drawer.”
Lily nods; it’s where she had thought first. She opens the door to the house with the spare key that Black has lent her—he won’t be back until seven, if she isn’t wrong—and finds her money over the kitchen table (double plus some more as if he knew that his dog would misbehave once more—very likely given his historic). But she moves forward, going to the toilet in the hall and, in the first drawer of the cabinet she finds a first kit aid.
James is waiting patiently for her, while Padfoot carefully offers him each toy for James to throw.
“He really likes you,” she tells him, sitting next to James. “It took me two days of bargaining to make him let me grab one of his toys.”
“I am a trustworthy person,” James says playfully. “You seem to think so.”
“I do?”
“Well, you just brought me here.”
“I trust Padfoot, he has good instincts. And I am sure Padfoot would defend me if you tried anything,” she says.
“I better not do anything then,” he says, and Lily bits her lip. She hadn’t meant like that.
She cleans his wound, using it as an excuse not to look at him. “Anything bad. After all, he threw me all over you today, so who knows.”
“Well, I’m not complaining,” James says, even as he grimaces when Lily applies alcohol over his wound. “Actually I’d consider rewarding him.”
“You hated meditation that much?” she teases, now bandaging his arm.
“Nah, you were just the most exciting thing that happened to me today. This week. This year—not that I was excited, I mean, not that you wouldn’t make me—I just mean—”
“James? You are babbling.”
“Making a fool of myself, sorry.”
“It… it was actually cute.”
“Oh.” He looks at her, his eyes shining. “Do you enjoy making men fool themselves around you?”
“That's exclusive of you, actually.”
His grin seems to radiate joy now. “So… how much of a fool I would be if I asked you to dinner with me tonight?”
“No dogs to disturb us?”
“No dogs allowed,” he says, and Lily swears he is getting closer.
“That seems perfect,” she agrees, her gaze falling to his lips (full and they look so soft)—
The backdoor opens violently and then Padfoot jumps from the place he had been quietly waiting on the floor.
“Missed you too, Pads!” Black cries, kneeling to accept his dog’s attention. Then he looks ahead and his gaze goes from Lily to James, his mouth opened in surprise.
Lily jumps, suddenly aware of her situation. At her side, James is shaking his head. “Mr. Black! I am so sorry, I can—”
“Sneaking around, James? Thought you wouldn't be back until Sunday!”
Lily blinks. “You know each other?”
“Ah—”
“Ah, Evans! That’s my best friend!”
“What?”
James lifts his hand, running through his hair. “I was going to tell you—”
“So… so that’s why Padfoot ran to you?”
“I didn’t know you’d be there—”
“And you just let me make a fool out of myself?”
“Lily—”
“Hmm, can anyone tell me what’s going on?”
“I’m out. That’s what's going on. I’m leaving.”
“I'm so sorry, Lily, I didn’t mean, I just—”
“No, just… no.”
She shakes her head, walking away, and as she reaches the gate, she feels something brushing her leg, and Lily lowers her eyes to find the familiar black dog glancing at her.
“I haven’t a clue what the hell is happening, but you’ll be back tomorrow, Evans?” she hears Sirius asking, and Padfoot bends his head to the side as if he is asking her the same question.
Lily touches the dog’s head, caressing him under his ear, and his tail swings hopefully for her. His pupils are huge, looking like the most adorable dog in the world, and he barks softly at her before turning his head; Lily follows his gaze to see that James is looking at her, looking very sorrowful and as pleading as Padfoot.
She turns away.
“No, you’ll need to find someone else,” she says and forces herself to close the gate without looking back.
(to be continued. Don't hate me)

Wooed
Pairing: Marcus Pike x Reader Rating: T Warnings: Cursing; Fluff Notes: I watched a supercut of Marcus Pike’s scenes and uh... Yeah. I’m in love? also i’ve never written for this man before so i’m sorry if this is awful Summary: You hadn’t been on a date since you’d started working for the bureau; truth be told, you’d been nursing a crush on Marcus for the last few months.
Tumblr media
When you told him, he seemed… Horrified. You couldn’t believe you were even having this discussion, but, hell, when you’re on a stakeout with someone, you run out of other things to talk about (even after you’d grilled him for the details of the band that he used to be in). Frankly, it was a wonder that it had taken you that long to reach relationships - the two of you had been in that car for nearly three hours. You’d known that Marcus had been married and divorced once; you hadn’t known about his most recent relationship, before he’d moved to DC, though. And after he’d spilled his guts, it was only fair that you do the same.
To you, it wasn’t that odd. The relationships that you’d been in had mostly started as friendships, and had grown to more. They weren’t whirlwind romances.
“So?” Marcus had asked, frowning, shaking his head. “So… So what you’re describing wasn’t, like… Part of the package,” You shrugged. “They didn’t even try?” “Try what?” You laughed. “You know, taking you out, buying you flowers, introducing you to their friends--” “I usually knew their friends already.” “Flowers?” “Allergic.” “Taking you out.” “I mean, sometimes, sure. That’s par for the course no matter who you’re dating, right?” Marcus leaned back in the driver’s seat, watching you, and you turned to eye the house that you guys had been watching. There had been no change; no car had pulled up, no one had come outside. “You’re allergic to all flowers?” You rolled your eyes. “I haven’t given every single flower in the world an individual whiff to make sure, but pollen makes me sneeze, yeah.”
The two of you settled into quiet again; Marcus’ focus returned to the house, but you could tell that his mind was still elsewhere. “Okay, tell me something,” He said after a few minutes. “Hm?” “Your last relationship.” “Mhm?” “Started as a friend and… Became more?” “Mhm.”
“Once that happened, you guys just, what, flipped a switch?” You considered this for a moment, then shrugged. “Things were the way they had been, just with a...Physical component. Why are you so hung up on this?” You added, turning to look at him.
“Cause, everyone oughta be… I don’t know… Wooed-- at least once.” Your brows rose. “Wooed?” You repeated, amused. “Yes. Wooed,” Marcus doubled down, nodding.
“When was the last time you were wooed?” “It’s been a while.” “So you’re overdue and projecting,” You decided, turning back to the house. “I am not--! I am not projecting. Would I mind it? Of course not, but I’ve been wooed before. You’ve never had the experience, and that is a shame.” You rolled your eyes as the two of you settled back into an easy quiet. “... I bet you’d like it.” “Hm?” “Being wooed.” “You realize if I had a nickel for every single time you’ve said ‘wooed’ in the last ten minutes, I’d have twenty cents?” You retorted. If you had just a touch less composure, you were pretty sure you’d combust. Your very attractive, very available, very nice-smelling boss was talking about wooing in close-quarters. You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him again; you could hardly stand the wide-eyed puppy-like way he’d blinked at you before when you’d told him that your ex-boyfriends had never been particularly romantic. But Marcus just chuckled despite your prickly tone. The sound was cut off by his cell phone ringing. You glanced down at it before turning back to the house. “Pike,” Marcus answered. You waited, listening for a few moments. “Uh huh… Thanks, Wallace.” You glanced over at Pike as he hung up. “Did they get a hit?” You asked. “Yeah, Wallace and Fernandez are tailing him now, so we’re clear,” Pike said, setting his phone aside and starting the car up. “Sweet,” You sat up, refastening your seatbelt. You and Pike chatted idly as he drove back to your apartment. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” You pushed down a yawn as you undid your seatbelt and reached back to grab your jacket from the backseat. “Yeah… Hey.” You stopped at Marcus’ voice, turning to look at him again. And damnit, there were those wide brown eyes again. “Yes?” You asked. “Are you busy tomorrow night?” “No, why?” “Lemme show you what you’ve been missing.” If it were anyone else, you’d be convinced that he was putting you on, and you’d shrug it off and laugh. But there was something just a little too soft, a little too sincere in the way he spoke. “...Pike, you don’t have to do this because you feel bad about my supposed lack of wooing--” “Well, maybe my reason is a little more selfish than that,” He shrugged a shoulder, a bashful smile tugging at his lips, “Whaddaya say? No pressure, either way.”
You believed Marcus when he said that there was no pressure; he didn’t seem the type to make your life hell if you turned him down. Thing was, you didn’t want to turn him down. “Alright, Pike,” You nodded, adding, “Woo me,” Before getting out of the car. -- You wound up out of the office and tailing the suspect with Wallace for most of the following day, so you didn’t need to worry about keeping a cool head in the office around Pike. That was a relief-- you couldn’t remember the last time you felt so antsy. You hadn’t been on a date since you’d started working for the bureau; truth be told, you’d been nursing a crush on Marcus for the last few months.
The man was sweet and incredibly considerate. He seemed to take notice of the little things about you - how you took your coffee, when you’d gotten your hair trimmed, the fact that you preferred french toast to pancakes (which he told you was just weird). Your time chatting during the stakeout had only confirmed the feeling you’d had since meeting the man: you wanted to get to know him better. You and Wallace were able to pick up the suspect and bring him in for questioning. By the time you’d filled out your report, it was nearly time for you to leave for the night. You knocked on the half-open door to Marcus’ office, holding up your report. He waved you inside. “Wallace said everything went fine,” He said. “No complaints. Guy’s in holding for now.” “Good.” Marcus took your report, but instead of looking over it like he typically did, he looked up at you. “You still up for later?” He asked. “Mhm.” “You sure?” “Uh-huh.” “Positive?” “You trying to talk me out of it?” “Nope. Just checking.” “Where are we going?” “Oh, no. It’s a surprise,” Marcus chuckled, “But I’ll pick you up at seven?” “Seven,” You nodded. -- Somehow you’d thought you’d be less nervous the closer it got to seven. You couldn’t imagine where Marcus was taking you, and you had spent way too long worrying that what you were going to wear wasn’t going to be nice enough, or would be too nice. You didn’t want to look like you’d tried too hard, or like you hadn’t tried at all.
You’d wound up in one of your favorite dresses, a quilted black leather jacket, and a pair of booties. Depending on what you saw Marcus wearing when he answered the door, you could either ask him to fasten a necklace you were considering (which would dress the outfit up a little more), or leave it. You jumped a little at the sound of your doorbell. You took a deep breath, walking over to the door and opening it. Marcus was standing outside in a plum button down, with a dark tie and a dark blazer. He was not subtle in looking you over, but you didn’t take much note of that. You were too distracted by the bouquet of flowers in his hands. Your brows rose. “First of all, you look beautiful. Second of all, before you worry about sniffling,” He raised a single finger to stop you, “I did some research. These are low-pollen, least likely to cause reactions to people that are allergic: Sunflowers, lilies, roses,” he pointed to one of each. You took in the sight of them, the delicate petals of the white roses and lilies, and the splashes of yellow from the sunflowers, and you felt an odd warmth in your chest - one that you were certain wasn’t the result of an allergic reaction. You reached out, taking them from Marcus and looking down at them. You hesitated, before screwing your face up, taking in two breaths and going, “Ah-- Ah--!” You met Marcus’ eye, quickly adding, “Kidding,” and giving Martcus a wide smile, “They’re beautiful, thank you.”
Marcus put his hand on his chest, laughing shakily. “Okay, you-- scared the crap out of me, jeez.” “I couldn’t help myself,” You teased, grinning up at him, “And you look gorgeous, too.” “Thank you. Now come on, joker,” He chuckled, taking a step back. You grabbed your purse from where you’d hung it on the coat hook by the door, following Marcus to his car. You reached for the door handle, but heard, “Ah-ah.” You raised a brow, taking a step back as Marcus held the door open for you. “Thank you,” You said. “Of course,” He winked before shutting the door behind you. -- You held the flowers in your lap the entire ride, idly running your fingers over the petals. You really couldn’t understand what Marcus had been fussing about during the stakeout, but you had to admit, you were already feeling… Slightly wooed. Not that you’d tell Marcus that... ...Not that you needed to tell Marcus that, you were pretty sure he could tell. Especially when he parked the car. You were hesitant to put the flowers in the backseat, and he’d chuckled. “They’ll be here when we get back, sweetheart,” He’d teased, “Promise. Go on-- And don’t you dare reach for that door handle.” “Better move fast, I’m pretty quick on the draw.”
“So I’ve seen.” -- Marcus had picked an upscale American Bistro - somewhere neither of you had been before. You’d been a little worried that all you’d have to talk about was work. And work did come up, sure, but it was hardly the only thing that was discussed. The time that you’d spent together on the stakeout had gotten a lot of the awkward first date getting-to-know-you questions out of the way.
-- You found out that there was more to Marcus’ wooing game than a bouquet of flowers and some dinner. After the two of you ate (and he paid, though you’d heavily protested and insisted on paying “next time”; you’d gotten a smile from him that was wider than the Potomac), you went on a walk. Your hands had brushed together a handful of times before Marcus had caught hold of yours. It had been a loose hold at first, giving you a chance to pull your hand away. You’d tightened your grip on Marcus’ hand, and his smile had widened, gentle and generous. -- “Okay, this technically doesn’t count toward the wooing, since you paid,” Marcus argued as the two of you stepped out of an ice cream shop with cups in hand. “Maybe I’m wooing you a little,” You retorted, bumping Marcus’ hip with your own, “Thought we agreed you were past due, too. How’s the blueberry?” “Here,” Marcus held his spoon out to you. You leaned up, taking the offered treat and humming, leaning away and licking your lips. “Good?” “Tasty.” “How’s the cinnamon?” You held your spoon up to Marcus, smiling as he took his time taking a taste. He hummed. “I like blueberry better,” He said honestly. “Figures. Weirdos that prefer pancakes sure do have odd opinions.” “Alright, you’re cute, but you will not get away with insulting pancakes, sweetheart.” “Just saying, I’ve never met a pancake that I’ve liked.” “We should fix that.” “You’re just out to fix every single wrong in my life, huh?” “If you’ll let me.” “I’ve got a wobbly coffee table, you gonna fix that next?” “I’ve got a newspaper in my car that’s a couple of days old, I’m sure we could balance it out.” --
He walked you to your door, too. Dating wasn’t new to you, and what Marcus was doing may’ve been a bunch of… Seemingly little things, but you could feel the difference. “So?” Marcus asked as the two of you neared your front door. You looked up from your bouquet (you were still stunned it hadn’t made you sneeze yet) and raised a brow. “So?” You returned, stopping on your doorstep. “Was I right?” He raised a brow. “...You were not wrong. Wooing is severely underrated… And you’re freaky good at it, dude, I mean-- You should be teaching a course.” Marcus laughed, head ducking bashfully. You smiled, biting your lip a little. “I am glad you enjoyed it. And I appreciated the fact that it wasn’t one-sided,” He peered down at you from under his lashes, stepping a little closer, “Though there is… Typically one more component to wooing.” “Oh? Something you managed to forget or something we just didn’t get to?”
 “Just didn’t get to,” Marcus backed you up against your door frame, his hands coming up to cup your cheeks. “And what exactly would that--” You started to tease. You didn’t get to finish asking, which was fine - you kind of already knew the answer, had kinda gotten the hint already, but it kinda didn’t matter. Marcus had been generous all night - with his time, his touches, his smiles, his winks. He was just as generous with kisses. It felt like just a whisper at first - a caress, barely. Your breath caught in your throat, eyes falling closed as Marcus tipped his head to the side, brushing his lips more firmly against yours. You leaned up, chasing the touch, and heard yourself sigh as his lips pressed to yours. You raised a hand from his bouquet, sliding it around the back of his neck. You melted a little as you felt Marcus hum against your lips. You opened your eyes as Marcus leaned away. You licked your lips, tipping your head back against the door frame as Marcus looked down at you with dark, hazy eyes. “Would you, um… Would you like to come inside?” You offered. “Was my wooing that effective, or is this still about your coffee table?” Marcus asked, sliding his hands down your shoulders. “Well, you did leave that old newspaper in the car.” “Oh, I can go grab it,” Marcus offered, taking a step back. “Get back here!” You laughed, gripping him by the collar and drawing him back in for another kiss.

Vegas, Baby - Part II
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kim Taehyung X Reader
Genre: Mafia!AU, Accidental Marriage!AU
Warnings: Explicit Language
Words: 3.6 k
Here's the next part of Vegas, Baby guys! Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there! Love you!
You all rolled up into the club at around 9:00, ready to start drinking and getting a good buzz on before going to dance.
The second you hit the club, you felt a thrill rushing through your veins.
“Alright Y/N, start scoping them out,” Jessi said with a smile.
“They aren’t pieces of meat Jessi!” Lily reminded.
“Sorry sorry,” she apologized.
Heading towards the bar you found yourself with Jessi and Lily at your sides, leading the group. You realized you were in charge tonight. This was about you. Lifting your head a little higher you smiled as you all sat down at the bar. The tender was cute, but working and you didn’t want to bother him with your drunken antics.
“Alright Y/N, you’ve already got four men interested,” Jessi whispered, ordering a drink from the bartender.
“What?” you asked, moving to turn around when Lily pinched your hip. “Ow!”
“Don’t look, keep your air of mystery going. And you’ve just arrived, plenty of time to dance and see who you feel good with,” Lily reminded.
“Right, okay,” you said, ordering a drink from the bar as well.
You spent about half an hour trying to calm your racing heart, by dousing it in alcohol. But Jessi put an end to that rather quickly.
“Don’t drink too much or you’re definitely not going out of our sight tonight,” she warned.
“Sorry,” you said, ordering a glass of water to chill the buzz that was starting to fog up your head.
“I think it’s time for a dance,” Lily said after you had finished your water.
“Yeah, I feel like moving,” you said, hopping down from the stool carefully.
That’s when you saw him.
He was blending in with the crowd easily, but when you looked at his face, you knew he was different than everyone in this building. For one, he was gorgeous. A sculpted jawline that could cut marble. Dark eyes that made heat swirl in your stomach and long curly hair that looked perfect to tug on.
He was dressed in probably the most expensive clothes you’ve ever seen. Even though it was a simple white dress shirt tucked into some nice black dress pants, you saw the jewelry he wore blinking in the light. No doubt it was costly. One of his rings must’ve cost more than the dress you were wearing, easily.
But that didn’t stop the swirl of desire rushing through your veins.
“I think she found someone,” Jessi said, smile evident in her voice.
“Who-oh... Wow...” Lily trailed off, looking at him as well.
“What do you think Y/N? Wanna approach him?” Jessi asked.
“I-I don’t know,” you breathed.
As if sensing someone was looking at him, he turned away from the guy he was talking to and looked dead at you. It made your heart squeeze painfully in your chest. But, you managed a small smile at him, tucking your hair behind your ear.
Your awkward attempt at flirting from across the room seemed to work, cause a smile was returned.
“Oh my God!” Jessi yelped.
“He’s interested,” Lily confirmed.
“Come on Y/N, let’s go dance. He’s interested, he’ll come talk to you. But don’t make a move just yet,” Jessi said softly, pulling you toward the dance floor.
Getting in between the sweaty bodies made you a little uncomfortable, but the liquid courage in your veins made everything much easier. Jessi moved your body with hers, having you mimic her motions.
Soon there were plenty of men approaching, trying to get the chance to dance with you. But Jessi and Lily were quick to distract them with themselves. After what felt like an eternity, the man you saw earlier was making his way to the dance floor. Your heart sped in your chest, making you feel weak. But soon, the man was a few feet from you.
“Excuse me,” he said, his deep baritone vocals seeping into your bones.
“Yes?” you asked, looking at him with a shy expression.
“Care to dance?” he asked, holding his hand out to you.
Taking it shortly thereafter you were pulled into his frame. The scent of sandalwood and musk over took you, making your head spin pleasantly. The pair of you moved together tentatively, not quite familiar but not uncomfortably. A different song came on and the man before you took it upon himself to turn your body so your back was facing his front. Wrapping his arms around your waist he rested his head along the crook of your neck.
“I dare say, you are the most beautiful girl out here tonight,” he say, breathing onto your exposed skin.
“Thank you, you look amazing too,” you mentioned, feeling his cool rings against your bare skin from the cutouts in your dress.
“What’s your name?” he asked.
“Y/N,” you answered.
“Y/N,” he repeated, letting the feeling of your name sit on his tongue.
“What’s your name?” you asked back.
“Vante,” he said quietly. You nodded, already knowing this wasn’t his real name. Maybe you shouldn’t have given him yours, but, it was too late to take it back now.
“So, what brought you here?” he asked, swinging his body to the beat and moving your body with his.
“My friends,” you said, trying to keep your mind level.
“Yeah? They brought you out? You’re not from around here are you,” he asked.
“What makes you say that?” you asked.
“This is my club, and I’ve never seen you here before. I’d certainly remember.”
You could feel his smile against your skin, and it made your heart jump into your throat. But, unlike with most men, you didn’t feel like he was playing with you, or trying to just get the small talk out of the way to get to the main event.
He felt... Genuine.
“I lost my job back home, and decided that a week in Vegas is what I needed before I move back in with my parents,” you admitted.
“I’m sorry to hear that you lost your job,” he said.
“Eh, it was a pretty basic office job, so I’m not too heartbroken over it,” you told him honestly.
“Well, I’m glad it brought you here,” he said, the smile never leaving his face.
“Me too,” you said quietly.
“How long are you in Vegas for?” he asked.
“A week, this is my first night,” you answered.
“I see, that isn’t very long,” he said, sounding almost disappointed.
“No, I wish I could stay longer,” you said.
“I’m sure your friends do too,” Vante stated.
The song ended and another one picked right up where it left off, but Vante moved away from your body and turned you around.
“I’ll tell the bartender that your tab is on the house. You and your friends, it was nice talking to you, I hope I see you again,” Vante said before moving to walk away.
“Wait!” you said.
Jessi would’ve slapped you for this.
“Did you want to... Get out of here, with me?” you asked, wincing as the words came out of your mouth.
“Well, as tempting as an offer that is. And believe me, it is extremely tempting, I’m afraid I have to decline. I have work to do tonight, but I wanted to stop by the club to see how everyone was doing before I headed out. But, enjoy the rest of your night Y/N,” he said. With that he stalked off towards the bar, leaving you in the middle of the floor alone.
“What the fuck,” Jessi said, coming up behind you.
“Did he just leave you here?” Lily asked, already looking like she was ready to fight.
“Don’t Lily,” you said, already feeling your blood beginning to cool.
“What do you mean? That dick just played you!”
As much as you wanted to agree with her and be mad, you couldn’t. Cause you didn’t see it that way. When Vante spoke, he seemed as though he was being authentic with you. You believed the only thing he lied about, was his name.
“Come on guys, I don’t want to dwell on it. Let’s get some more drinks,” you suggested heading towards the bar.
You sat down and the bartender smiled at you brightly.
“Mr. Vante says that you ladies have a free tab tonight! Enjoy! Everything is on the house,” he smiled.
“What?” Jessi said, turning to look at you.
“Oh yeah... He said that he owns this club,” you winced.
“And he gave you a free tab for the night?” Lily asked.
“Yeah...?” you said, confused.
“Oh babe, this isn’t over then,” Jessi confirmed.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“If he gave you a free tab, it means he wants you to come back! We’ll have to come back again!” Jessi said, drinking her screwdriver happily.
“I guess,” you said, already looking forward to the idea of seeing him again.
--
It was your last night in Vegas when you went back to Vante’s club. Dressed in Jessi’s red silk dress that cut off right in the middle of your thighs. She said she wanted to pay homage to your pop of color the first night you and Vante met. It would help you stand out more.
You were talking to the bartender, who’s name you found out to be Tyler. He was super nice and really chill, already getting you the drink you favored most the previous night.
“Thanks,” you smiled, taking a sip already.
“So, let’s see if he’s here tonight,” Jessi said, looking over the crowd with her razor sharp gaze.
The three of you started drinking and before you knew it you were tipsy.
Not to the point where you didn’t know what you were doing, but it was enough to get you feeling light.
Then, like a ghost, Vante appeared from the back. He looked just as good as he did the first day. Sharp, crisp and clean clothes adorned him. He appeared like a magazine model has come to life off the page.
His eyes met yours and a warm rush of heat flooded your system. He smiled and kept his eyes trained on you, coming forward through the swarm of people that separated you. Jessi and Lily instinctively left to go dance at that moment.
“Have fun,” Jessi whispered.
“Be safe,” Lily said, before following.
Vante approached you and placed a hand on the stool facing you.
“I thought I scared you off,” he said, looking at the liquor behind the bar.
“I don’t scare easy,” you said smiling.
“I’m glad, I was worried I wasn’t going to see you again before you left,” he said, pointing at the vodka bottle and getting it handed to him shortly thereafter. Shot glasses were placed on the counter next to the two of you and then Tyler was gone again.
“Unfortunately it’s my last night here, I have a flight tomorrow at 4:00,” you said to him.
“That is unfortunate,” Vante agreed.
“But that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun,” you offered.
“You’re right about that,” he said, pouring two shots.
“No work to do tonight?” you asked, hinting to when he turned you down.
“Fortunately for me I don’t,” he smiled, pushing a shot glass towards you.
He took his shot first. Shortly after you took yours. The burn traced your throat, filling your body with warmth. Vante poured another for himself, and took it, licking his lips at the end. Clearing his throat he looked to you.
“So, last night in Vegas, what are your plans?” he asked.
“I don’t really have any,” you said lamely, hoping he didn’t leave.
“Ah, so you’re free?” he said with another shot being pushed your way.
You took it and tossed it down, coughing lightly after.
“I am,” you said.
“That is nice to hear,” he said, taking his third shot in ten minutes.
Placing your hand on his wrist, you stopped him from pouring another one.
“Something wrong?” he asked, looking down at the alcohol then back to you.
“I-I uh...”
In all honesty you didn’t want him to get too drunk, it was nice just talking to him like this.
“Rough day for me, I’m afraid. Hence the eagerness to hit the booze,” he smiled sadly, as if it really pained him to admit it.
“I’m sorry, do you want to talk about it?” you asked, looking at him in concern.
“No, no that’s okay. Thank you for the offer though, that’s incredibly sweet,” he nodded.
“Well, if you ever are feeling in a sharing mood, maybe I can give you my number?” you asked. It was a long shot, because you were leaving tomorrow, but the idea of never speaking to him again made your heart sink into your stomach.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” he smiled.
He handed you his phone and you plugged the number in, putting your name in at the top. Then, he held his hand out for yours, which you gave him.
“Are you going to put your real name in there?” you asked, suddenly unable to filter your words.
Vante just smirked.
“Very perceptive, knowing I didn’t give you my real name,” he said as he plugged in ‘Vante’ as the contact name.
“So that’s a no,” you said, taking your phone back and putting it in your purse.
“Don’t sound so disappointed. There’s a lot of power in names, you know,” he said.
“I guess,” you pouted.
“Don’t look so down,” he smiled, coming over to wrap his arms around your shoulder.
“I think I need another drink,” you confessed, waving Tyler down.
“The usual?” he asked, and you nodded.
“Mr. Vante? What would you like?” he asked.
“A manhattan, strong, with bourbon instead of whisky,” he ordered.
“Very good, I’ll be right back,” he said.
The two of you kept drinking and talking, exchanging pleasantries. But Vante seemed to dig into you, while you barely scraped the surface of him. And the problem was, the more you drank, the more your mind was swirling with the thought of him. His face and eyes boring into your flesh.
The last thing you remember before everything goes black are those beautifully sad eyes.
--
You woke up with a pounding headache. But the plushness of the pillows made up for the severe ache in your head. Cracking your eyes open you saw the light coming in through the window.
That’s when you realized.
You weren’t with Jessi and Lily...
Bolting up in bed you looked around. You were still in your clothes, thank God. But, where were you?
Looking in the bed next to you, you saw someone else sleeping. Still fully clothed as well. Your heart eased a little, until you figured out who it was.
It was Vante. Vante was sleeping next to you.
Had you slept with him last night?
You were still clothed, but that didn’t mean anything. Suddenly, a wave of nausea came over you, making you rush to the bathroom to empty the contents of your stomach into the toilet.
Rinsing your mouth out you heard shuffling in the other room.
Peaking your head out the door you saw Vante sitting up and examining the area just as you had done. Did he not remember anything either?
You walked into the room and saw Vante’s look of confusion turn to concern.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I could ask you the same thing,” you answered.
“This isn’t the time to joke around Y/N, do you remember anything?” he asked.
“No, I don’t, the last thing I remember was sitting in the club with you,” you said.
He sighed and ruffled his hair. You couldn’t help but feel a little thrill at his attitude and morning voice. But, you weren’t here to be yelled at.
“Vante what’s going on?” you asked.
“I don’t know, I drank too much,” he groaned, laying down on the bed and looking up at the ceiling.
“We didn’t drink that much, did we?” you asked, not really talking to Vante.
“I’m not sure, but my tolerance is pretty high. I shouldn’t have blacked out,” he said, concern lacing his features.
“Jessi, Lily!” you shrieked, shuffling through your purse that was unceremoniously thrown on the floor until you found your phone.
43 missed calls
76 messages
“Oh I’m so fucked,” you groaned. Then you looked at the time. And you screamed.
Vante jumped in the corner at the sound and you bolted up right and looked at the clock in the room. It wasn’t wrong.
4:38 pm.
“Shit! Shit shit shit!’ you cried.
“What?!” Vante yelled back.
“I missed my flight! And I don’t have the money to get back now,” you whimpered, already feeling tears welling up in your eyes.
“Hey don’t cry,” Vante said, coming over and trying to calm you down.
But in the process of bringing your hand to your eyes to wipe them, you saw a glint in the light. Looking closer you noticed a simple, silver band over your finger.
“What the-”
“Oh fuck,” Vante said, looking down at your purse.
“What’s wrong?” you asked.
Without a word, he reached down and pulled out the piece of paper that was shoved inside.
Unfolding it and smoothing the wrinkles out, Vante held the piece of paper over you.
Squinting in the light you looked at the top.
Marriage License
“Oh fuck,” you whsipered. “What are we gonna do?” you asked.
“Well-I... I’m not too sure,” he whispered, rubbing his chin.
“I gotta call my parents,” you said, reaching to call them when Vante took your phone out of your hand.
“No, don’t,” he said.
“What do you mean? They’re expecting me to be on a plane back home!” you said.
“Y/N, we’re in big trouble. I don’t think you realize that,” he said.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“I haven’t been completely transparent with you,” he sighed, rubbing his face.
“What do you mean Vante?” you asked.
“Firstly, my name isn’t Vante. It’s Taehyung,” he started.
“Taehyung,” you said softly.
“And I’m not some regular club owner,” he said.
“Okay...?”
“I’m a... a part of the Korean Mafia,” he whispered.
Panic surged through your body.
“Don’t fuck with me right now Vante-Taehyung!”
“I’m not fucking with you Y/N, I’m being deathly serious,” he said, voice chilling your skin.
“Okay, alright. Say you are a member of the Korean Mafia, what does that mean? Are you going to kill me?” You asked, fear trickling down your spine at the thought.
“No! No no, I’m not gonna hurt you. You’re legally my wife for christ sake,” he said.
“Then what’s the issue? We just get an annulment in a couple days and then we’re free. Issue solved. I can stay with Jessi and Lily until my parents can get me back home,” you said, already formulating a plan in your head.
“No, that’s not gonna happen,” he said quietly.
“What do you mean that’s not gonna happen?” you asked, shocked.
“You can’t just get an annulment with me,” he said, looking at the ground.
“Excuse me?” you asked, stunned at his words.
“If you leave me, it’ll make me look weak. And, you’re at risk of being hurt by stray members of the mafia. There are rivals who will use you to try to get to me now. Even if we aren’t married. You’re safest at my side for now,” Taehyung said, looking out the window.
“So, you’re saying my life is at risk because of this?” you asked, looking down at the marriage license with a sour taste in your mouth.
“Yes, unfortunately that’s the truth. You’re a part of this now, whether we like it or not,” he announced.
“Taehyung, what am I going to do? I can’t go back home and bring this to my parents, Jessi and Lily will murder me if I tell them. What do I do?!” you shrieked.
He whirled around and placed his hands on your shoulders.
“What we’re not gonna do is panic. That’s the last thing we need, so what we’re going to do is play the role. We got married on purpose, a secret ceremony. My parents aren’t going to like this either. But, we’ve been dating for a while, just not publicly. We were so madly in love that we couldn’t help but get married,” he said.
“What are you talking about!? I can’t just tell my parents that I got married in Vegas. I can’t tell Lily and Jessi that I got married to you last night! What can I do Taehyung? This is all such a huge mess,” you whimpered, breaking down into tears.
“Please don’t cry,” he said, kneeling down beside you.
“I can’t help it, I’m so overwhelmed.”
He sighed and rubbed your back until you calmed down a little. And then he spoke again.
“You’re telling your parents that you got a job opportunity here in the states and are staying here with Jessi and Lily. They won’t think twice about it. As for Jessi and Lily, we’re going to have to tell them the truth,” he said.
“We? You plan on explaining to my two best friends that I got hitched in Vegas drunk off my ass to a mafia member?” you exclaimed.
“If that’s what it takes, then yes,” he said.
“Jesus Taehyung do you hear yourself? I barely know you!”
“I know, I know, but I need you to trust me. Just trust me. I can offer you a life of comfort, your family will be safe and want for nothing. You just can’t leave me,” he said.
“Taehyung,” you said, still very uncertain.
“I promise you, I’m not lying. I give you my word,” he said, placing his hand over his heart. You saw his ring glinting in the light and you sighed.
“Fine. But I gotta talk to Jessi and Lily. Soon,” you said firmly.
“I’ll take you,” he said, already grabbing his keys from his pockets.
“Okay,” you sighed, looking down at your purse.
God, what had you done?

WIP Challenge
Thanks for tagging me @de-sire-blog - since I’ve got nothing better to do with my time there you go, babes ♥️
WIP Challenge 😁❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍❤😁🤩🤩 Rules: tell us the titles of all the WIPs you are currently working on right now and a little about them. Then tag five other writers.
I just want to preface this by saying that I’ve got about 10 WIPs (yes, I am that much of a mess) but I’ll only list the ones I’ll actually see myself finishing one day ✌🏼
“About trains, babies, and handsome strangers”: Remus travels home from two stressful weeks at his parent’s home and Sirius has to come home early from his vacation because Lily’s in labour. They are the only two people in their train compartment and when the train gets stuck due to bad weather they end up keeping each other awake through the night (and fall in love, obviously). - Idk, something about me romanticising long train rides maybe? But I also kinda love it because it’s love on first sight shit and they’ve got a *really* cute bonding moment when Harry’s born. (It’s actually planned as more of a one shot but I’ve got too many ideas for this already so we’ll see)
“Farm story” - this story has no title yet but a summary actually: Remus has no time. Remus has no time for anything but the farm he inherited when both of his parents died five years ago. He has no time to do the groceries, he has no time to go out with friends, he has no time to sleep in in the mornings. Worst of all, he has no time for Sirius Black, the over-ambitious accountant who‘s supposed to help him with the finances of the farm, who‘s the most gorgeous man Remus has ever seen, whose eyes are so distracting Remus gets lost in them. But Remus has no time. No time to fall in love. - Something about the idea of Remus owning a farm and lots of animals and being all soft just does things to me! Also, Sirius is enamoured from minute one and Remus is completely oblivious to it.
"The beginning of summer": Meet-cute in a museum, Remus is a teacher and Sirius is a museum attendant. They both do ridiculously stupid things to see each other again while both claiming that they "don't actually believe in love". - Needless to say they're both huge liars :))) Probably the most "poetic" story I have planned because *lots* of talking about flowers and the meaning of life (that's why I never actually write anything for this story, welp)
"Parenty story" - no title but a summary (again :D): When Remus meets Sirius for the first time he’s sure that falling in love again might just be easier than he thought it would be. The only problem: Sirius is Teddy’s teacher and there is no way Remus can date his child’s teacher, except, Teddy doesn’t really agree. - Okay, this is the story that I probably enjoy the most writing on because it involves a lot of humour and many, many fatherly thought's from Remus's side (Dora's dead btw but Remus is not sad about it (anymore), lol), I love the father-child-relationship in this one (something about the childhood I wish I would've had, whaaaat? :)))) It includes a lot of pining because Remus himself is his biggest obstacle, as always :D (Oh, also #gayauntmarlene because she is my biggest inspiration 💅🏼)
"The seven-year itch" - okay, this is my baby actually and that's why I almost never write anything for it because I don't want to fuck it up (although I basically have the whole story mapped out) and here's what it's about (very roughly) because I'm shit at describing this particular one: Basically, Sirius and Remus fell hopelessely in love in boarding school. Through *circumstances* they haven't seen each other again after graduating and meet again 7 years later when Remus and Dora want to have their wedding in Sirius's hotel. Needless to say they're both still absolutely in love with each other. - The Drama and The Feels in this one, unmatched! I mean, Sirius has to plan the literal wedding of the love of his life, which is mean, I know, but, again, the FEELS!! This Fic is soulmate shit and one day I will actually finish it and it will (hopefully) be great :D Also, it's slightly self-indulgent because I love weddings just that much and there's a lot of wedding-planning involved 🔥
"Midnight tea" - okay, haha, last one, this one's a TextingFic and honestly it was a rather dumb idea of mine that turned into this bigger (although not very deep) thing, yeah, it's the story I'm writing on whenever I can't form a coherent thought (or when I'm too lazy writing all the descriptive stuff because I *love* writing dialogue) and here's the summary: Remus has a boyfriend. Sirius says he's straight. James is a big himbo. Lily doesn't like him. Marlene likes women, especially Dorcas. Peter is being Peter. What could possibly go wrong? - This Fic is such a mess because I have so many random ideas for it.
Anyway, that's it! None of those stories are originial and they all have the same theme which is #boysbeingsoft, also, fun fact: Lily has healthy amounts of main character moments in *all* of those Fics because I love her just that much💅🏼
I don't know 5 other writers actually, so, everyone reading this, consider yourself tagged :D

DWC Day 1 - Reunion - Daily Writing Challenge Entry - Mega Goes Home
[ This scene takes place after a two year storyline between the FBC Guild that I’m the GM of and a personal storyline between Megahes and his Fiance, Naturasu. During this time, Megahes was cursed by a Cultist to slowly die from an agonizingly painful hex that was slowly killing him and all hope of its curing/removal was stripped away when this Cultist was killed during the conflicts. Ammaelin came to save Megahes (and acquired some ‘favors’ along the way) by using fractured shards of a Naa'ru to force Megahes into becoming Light Forged in a sense. This process took several years thanks to the manipulation of time via magic and while Mega felt the strain of three-four years of work, for everyone else it was roughly eight to ten weeks before his return. ] The Zeppelin ride to Orgrimmar was agonizingly slow, probably more than any other ride Mega had ever had on one before in his entire life. It was enough to drive him mad and the longer it took in combination with the closer it got to taking him home to Naturasu the worse it became. The goblin fidgeted, tugging at his clothes and making sure all the buttons on his shirt were done properly. His sleeves still crisp and the ironed lined still present. Hell, he even fought with the rolled up sleeves and their buttons that kept them pulled up to his biceps. The wait on returning home was killing him. What was Nat going to say when he walked in the door? This reunion between her and him played in his head a thousand times just today alone, he couldn’t even count the amount of times that he played out similar scenarios while he was away. “Nervousness does not become you Mister Frostbite.” The voice was formal and flat, its source coming from a blinding armor clad Blood Elf that stood several feet higher than himself. Crimson red hair blowing in the breeze thanks to their mode of transportation. Ammaelin, the Blood Knight who was responsible for the absence that proved to be a miraculous, and most likely a very heretical, healing process. If one could butter their bread with his smugness, one’d choke on it just from looking at him. “I’m aware, but that doesn’t make it any less. I been gone for three years now.” He quickly brings up a hand to stop the Elf, they’ve had this conversation several times before already. “And I know, I know. Months for her, for everyone else. Years only for You, Me and the others. But still years for me…” “We did what needed to be done, especially in regards to our agreement. You would have surely died otherwise.” Ammaelin’s head turns if but barely, just enough to cast a glance down upon the golden metal that was imprisoned into Mega’s flesh near his wrists. “You are lucky that you had those shards hidden away. Had any other Paladin known you held those, my brother's curse would have been the least of your concerns. I have no doubt the Church or the Draenei would have come marching on your doorstep…” Megahes’ face contorts as draws upon sarcasm to mock the Elf. “I have no doubt…” Mega blows a massive raspberry in the Paladins direction, which causes him to turn and look back upon the horizon, not giving in to Mega’s provocations. “Look. I know how risky tha thing was and I appreciate what you did and I get that I owe ya. But… all’a that aside. I’m just nervous man. What if…” He just stops and breathes, voice quivering a bit as his eyes begin to moisten, forcing him to stop and look back over the side of the Zeppelin once again. “If she doesn’t approve or she’s moved on due to thinking you dead or not coming back?” “I mean, I could have put that in better words, but yeah.” “I think perhaps you worry too much.” Megahes grumbles and sighs, running his hands up and down his face several times before they slide into his hair, where he just grabs hold of himself and pulls out of frustration only to realize he’d fucked it all up. His head shakes and he sets out to fix his hair as best he can, a nervous tick, to be sure. Mega was about to open his mouth to retort, but the Paladin stopped him by pointing to the horizon. Pandaria’s Jade
Forest. Pillars of tall stone began to rise and fall down into gorgeous forests, rolling hillsides and lily and reed filled rivers. The air was crisp and something about it just filled one's body with a rejuvenating sense of purpose and peace. “We’ll be at your domancile shortly, Mister Frostbite. I suggest you gather your things and we’ll drop you off directly.” If Mega wasn’t nervous before this, he sure as hell is now! His nearly trips… Well, he does actually, right over his own two feet and in a fluster, he looks about for something that wasn’t there before he speedily heads towards the cabins to gather his bag. He’d had this ready hours ago. It wasn’t much, he had no time to prepare for this little ‘retreat’ of his, which he was thankful for now as he threw it over his shoulder. He pauses and looks over at Ammaelin. “For as big of a pain in tha ass ya have been these past couple of years, thank ya. Truly. If it wasn’t for you and them Priests, I wouldn’t be makin’ this trip back.” Ammaelins’ face during this brief statement was a rollercoaster! Disdain and irritation appearing quickly was soon replaced with an oddly peaceful smile by the end of it. “Our time has taught us much, Mister Frostbite, about a great many topics. It has been… enlightening.” His choice of words being an intended pun and irony placed upon Mega. There were no hugs, no great exchanges of physical emotion. The two just look at one another before Mega turns and descends into the bowels of the Zeppelin so he can board the loading platform and get lowered down to his home. Their home. Gold, this was excruciating. The platform lowers slowly, painfully so, at least to him. Each inch makes Mega’s ears pound so hard that he can hear them in his ears and if it got any higher in his throat, he’d choke. “I’m gettin all nervous for nothin’, she probably ain’t even home. Probably in Orgrimmar havin’ some drinks or workin’ at the Knot.” He blows through his lips with enough strength to cause a slight whistle. Stress and worry, all self-induced of course, at how this was going to go. He was happy, no doubt, but worry came natural. The lift jerks as the ground makes contact, nearly sending him sprawling down to the floor of it just for him to look up in utter irritation, sending up a solid middle finger at the crew whether they could see it or not. “Ain’t no wonder these things fall out of tha fuckin sky so much…” He grumbles, straightening himself and clambering off before they end up actually managing to kill him somehow. Once off, the Zeppelin began to hoist the platform once more as it turned to head off towards its next stop. Mega’s red eyes watch it drift off for a moment, offering an overhead wave in case Ammaelin was on deck and looking down upon him. Given time, Mega turns away from it, looking at his pandaren styled home. The smell of the Arboretum orchids wafting through the air hit his senses and caused him to smile and for a moment, peace was welcome until he began to pick up his feet, swearing they are encased in lead the closer to home he became. Much like a scene from one of those cheesy romance books he kept hearing people go on about, he freezes at the door, hand up and ready to knock but nothing comes. No, instead he pats himself down and takes the key out of his shirt pocket and uses that instead. Quietly, creeping open the door slowly as if he expected to walk in and find his place full of cobwebs and everything cold and abandoned. The sight he gets is quite the opposite. Everything was nearly just as he left it. Albeit, more golden now. Naturasu loved her gold and it was a miracle that everything they owned wasn’t gold or khorium at this point in some facet or another. The sight brings a small smile to his face, sucking him into the house where he quietly closes the door behind him, fingers tracing over chairs and couch arms before he lets his pack slide down into the floor where it was quickly abandoned. Quietly, he walks through the house, almost scared to break the silence just to realize that that’s all there’d be
but a sudden clattering coming from the kitchen broke what he hadn’t dared. “Oh gold… what is she remodelling in there now?” It was a good question to ask! Not one that he had malice towards however, as the modifications they’d made thus far were phenomenal. His feet take him into the doorway where Nat can be seen in her usual home attire of thigh-high socks and underwear along with a set of tools, some powered and some not, as she was working on some of their retractable steps that allowed the two of them to cook shoulder to shoulder despite their obvious size differences. And it was this image that made him choke in silence and just stare at her. She was still here and all of his fears, irrational or not, just vanished and all he’s left being able to do is croak out a cough and throat clear. Nat’s voice calls out in irritation as the work clearly wasn’t going as planned. “Just leave tha rollers and frames there on the floor Sugah, thanks.” She must have thought he was someone from the Contingents Engineering or Supply Staff. Had this been any other time, Mega probably would have played into this mistake and taken up the chance to pretend to be said person and elicit some lewd scene, but, no, not today… Well, at least not right -now-. “Sorry, I uhh… must have forgotten them back at tha office. I can go back and get them if ya like.” Mega’s voice quivered in a nervousness that refused to leave his bones that were joining with both excitement and happiness. Naturasu on the other hand, froze entirely just to drop the wrench that was in her hand to the floor. Slowly, she wheeled about, perhaps not sure if she heard the voice correctly or if it was just her senses fucking with her. Whatever her reasoning, the moment her copper colored eyes hit Mega’s own crimson hues, time stood still for them both. No words came, they didn’t need them. Naturasu hit her knees and before she could even get her arms outstretched entirely, Mega was across the room, pinning himself to her and locking his own behind her in an embrace so strong that Titan Steel couldn’t have broken it if it tried. The two remained conjoined and just wept. [ Thank you again for reading my entry to the @daily-writing-challenge ! This is Day One (09/19/2021) and today's words were #Reunion and #Afterlife. I had the choice of using one or both, but decided to run with only Reunion today just in case I decide to pull out some deathly stuff later in the month. ] [ Edit Addition: I apologize if there's some formatting issues. I tried to implant a couple of images to help convey things but Tumblr just wasn't having it, so I had to remove them. I've tried to correct the errors I did find, but I may not have gotten them all. ]
