f2l with katsuki but there’s nobody who rides harder for you two being a couple than izuku and not even in a weird pining threeway kind of way. just genuinely, from the bottom of his heart, he’s always believed you two should be together. he’s always watched you two growing up, he’s always chased after you two, he’s always seen the way you both lean into each other and still find space to pull him up too. he thinks you and katsuki deserve each other, he knows you two are meant for each other. it’s excruciating for izuku to watch you two not realize it for so long, heartbreaking to watch kacchan figure it out but not say anything, and the worst pain of all is watching you date other people because you’re too stubborn to realize your soulmate is has been right next to you your entire life. it’s exhausting, and izuku is bitter about it.
and petty. whenever you mention you have a date, his response is always ��is it with kacchan?” “huh? no, it’s—” “that’s too bad then.” he pretends not to remember any of your boyfriends’ names and somewhere along the way he just stops pretending and really doesn’t care to learn them. he’s sweet and all smiles with everyone else, but the second someone other than katsuki is interested in you, there’s a straight frown on his lips. he’s out for drinks with katsuki and he’s noticed some guys eyeing him from across the restaurant, so izuku goes to greet them while katsuki is in the bathroom, all bright smiles and hero facade beaming as he signs the shorter one’s baseball cap with a sigh, “kacchan is handsome, right? you should see his girl, she’s stunning too,” capping the sharpie and any potential plans for flirting for the evening. he’s spent many nights gossiping with mitsuki and inko about you two, crying about how seeing you two dating other people is harder than any other mission he’s ever been sent on.
sometimes izuku just wants to shove the two of you in a locker and keep you in there until you decide to be together. he spends so much time with his chin in his palm, sighing with such yearning for a relationship that isn’t even his own. his eyes are soft right now, watching you and katsuki in the communal kitchen of the agency. there’s a slight glare shining through the glass walls, but he can see your smiles bright as day. you lean with your back to the counter, stirring your tea mindlessly as katsuki faces you, arms crossed but posture relaxed, no doubt saying something to rile you up judging by the slick grin on his face. you’re much shorter than him, but izuku remembers the days when you were taller than both of them back in second grade; he thinks the height difference panned out nicely. kacchan could lean down and kiss you right now, izuku wishes he would. a soft smile paints izuku’s face—they only keep that tea in the cabinets for the days you decide to visit, and katsuki only teases to hear your sharp tongue counter him. he must be in a particularly good mood today—or maybe, he’s happy because you’ve visited—judging by the way he throws his head back with a hearty cackle after you’ve said something to him. that’s good, hopefully you’ll keep his spirits up when they leave for patrol later. izuku gets so caught up in his daydreaming that he’s startled when there’s a knocking on the glass, and now you’re next to it smiling at his startled face and waving to him. he looks at you, then back to katsuki, who’s shadowed you to the glass wall, hovering protectively like he always has. izuku shakes his head in disbelief, but waves back. he finds the glass fitting, a window he’s looking into. he just hopes the scene changes to something more romantic sooner rather than later.

I found my old bnha drawings and those are probably from nearly 4 or 5 years ago and there is a fucking Bakugo Katsuki drawing that thinking about if holding mini Izuku's hand in that river scene is ok or not and Im not okay.

Reify
Summary: Izuku's been hiding a secret for years. Ever since he touched a bug and it came back. Ever since he woke up in a hospital with his mother crying.
Standing above the body of All Might, he has to make a choice. He does.
He won't let himself regret it.

Izuku couldn't move. His feet felt like they'd grown roots into the ground, anchoring him to the spot. He stood there, shaking, as he stared at the choking form of All Might. The man was on the ground, a hand clutching at the rebar that had been shoved through him.
 “What a pity,” the villain, All for One, said with a sigh. “I’d hoped for more of a challenge.”
 The laughter from the other villains rang in Izuku’s ears as he stumbled to the number one hero.
 All Might’s breath was coming slower. His eyes were glazing over. He was dying.
 Dying because of Izuku.
 Ever since Izuku got into the hero course, using nothing but a sign he’d pried loose during the entrance exam, All Might had supported him. Sure, the man admitted he thought Izuku would end up failing in the beginning but Izuku hadn’t. All Might had supported him chasing his dreams when few others did. He’d gone on public record saying he supported the Quirkless hero student, and it caused half the people against Izuku to support him.
 It hurt when All Might said he had thought Izuku would wash out, but then the man said he’d hoped the teen wouldn't. Izuku was introduced to a secret from the hero about his Quirk and why the man felt so vindicated that Izuku was clawing his way into heroics.
 It made Izuku feel so guilty, knowing he was lying.
 But he’d hidden it for so long…
 Staring at the dying hero, Izuku knew. He knew that he couldn't keep it a secret anymore. Not now.
 Izuku stayed next to All Might, the man grimacing as he removed the pole through him. Izuku didn't know why.
 No, he did. It's better to bleed out fast than not.
 Izuku reached out to hold the man’s hand as he died, and the hero's gloves felt slimy as he grasped them. Izuku barely heard the laughter of the villains behind him or the whirl of the media drones hovering over them. Instead, Izuku removed the jacket he'd been wearing, moving to cover the wound in All Might’s chest. As he did, he also brushed the man’s neck.
 Light came back to his eyes, and pure luck let Izuku block his harsh breath as the wound knitted itself back together in a second.
 “Don’t move,” Izuku said under his breath. “Don’t touch my skin either. I'm sorry for lying.”
The internal timer Izuku had for his Quirk was ticking—five minutes. He had to stall and then have All Might move.
 It was enough.
 Izuku stood up and turned to the villains. He stared at these people who decided to attack children and threw around phrases like ‘hero society is a failure’ or ‘you could be something better’ or ‘they don’t understand you, do they?’ These people saw the darkness of society and decided to make it worse by harming others.
 These people didn’t care that they hurt people as long as they got what they wanted.
 “I’ve been lying for a long time,” Izuku stated conversationally. He began walking towards the villains, his hands going to drag out the weapons they hadn't bothered taking off him. The mocking looks the villains had to see him pull out the Escrima sticks made Izuku want to laugh. Going on about being better than hero society, only for them to not see him as a threat.
 “Oh?” Shigaraki looked curious. “So you do hate hero society?” Izuku rolled his eyes, wondering how the villain kept going on about it. Yeah, it wasn't a lie—Izuku sure as hell didn’t like the current hero society, but as he’d told Stain, most people were aware of the problems; it was just hard to make a move.
 “When I was five, I found a dead cat. It was beaten by a group of teenagers for a laugh. My mom scared them away, and I touched the cat. All its wounds healed, and it sat up. Then I touched it again, the wounds came back, and it died,” Izuku said. His hands felt clammy. He’d never spoken about this before. He never dared voice the words hidden in his mind.
 Only his mother knew.
 “An illusion, Quirk,” All for One said. Izuku chuckled as he kept walking.
 “Oh, my mom thought so. It’s happened, someone casting an illusion like that. But I was sure I brought the cat back. I begged to try with bugs, and we did.” Izuku swallowed. “I brought back all the bugs, and they died when I touched them a second time. We also learned of the timer. Five minutes from my touch.”
 All for One hummed, sounding interested. The villains on the ground looked bored and less interested, though. The redheaded woman rolled her eyes, disbelieving. The young blonde girl seemed to enjoy the show, bouncing on her toes with a vicious smile.
 “We thought they'd die again. It costs energy for me to bring things back, and as a kid, using it too often made me tired, so Mom insisted I make sure to touch them again. But then, one day, I decided I wanted to see what would happen. She let me.” Izuku took a shuddering breath. “Another bug died after the five minutes was over. But the bug I brought back lived. Until I touched it against, but the other bug stayed dead.”
 Izuku kept walking. He could tell All for One didn't know what he was leading to. The villains looked bored and unbelieving, except for one with burn scars held on with staples. His eyes were wide, and he looked at All Might, who luckily seemed to be keeping still.
 “We tested it a bit. I can, in fact, control who is affected as long as they're in my eyesight.” Izuku swallowed. “We didn't tell anyone. Mom was terrified of it, and I at first didn't understand until I saw a news report about a girl being kidnapped for her Quirk. I understood then. So I kept quiet.”
 “Oh yeah, sure,” snorted the lizard guy, Spinner Izuku thought his name was. “You were scared people could find out you can raise dead animals.”
 “It takes energy. A lot of energy. When my mom died, my father’s doing. He tried to burn our apartment down, and Mom breathed in too much smoke; when she died, I touched her hand. Passed out and woke up two hours later in the hospital.” Izuku took a shuddering breath. “Mom was alive, but a woman her age had died from smoke inhalation despite not being near the fire. A freak accident or maybe something else, they said. We knew.” Izuku stopped walking. He smiled. “It's been three and a half minutes,” he flipped the sticks in his hands. “Wanna take some potshots, All Might?” Izuku knelt, jabbing the weapons into the ground as the hero stood up. The jacket fell away to reveal a ruined hero suit but a healed chest just as the hero launched a low-level punch, causing air to rush at the villains.
 Izuku barely held onto the Escrima sticks, clutching them tightly.
 “Young Midoriya-“ All Might began, but the crackle of ice caused Izuku to spot Todoroki, creating a smooth ice bridge that ran right past Izuku. The sound of engines echoed as Iida ran across it, Uraraka holding onto him as she offered a hand to Izuku. He grabbed it as Shigaraki screamed,
 “Get the brat!”
 “I have to stay in eyesight of the villain!” Izuku shouted to his friends as he was dragged along by Iida, weightless thanks to Uraraka. She looked at him with pained eyes.
 She knew. She knew what he was doing.
 “Okay!” she called back. Iida swallowed but nodded. Both knew what this meant.
 Izuku was killing someone. He was choosing to do so.
 Neither could articulate how they felt, but they knew it was a possibility. After the USJ, a special class discussed how sometimes heroes were put into a compromising situation and how sometimes they would have two choices: life or death.
 Izuku wasn't sure if this counted. He thought so, given that it was All for One, the boogeyman of stories. But he didn't know if they would let it slide.
 “It is alright, Tomura,” All for One laughed darkly. “I doubt such a mere boy can kill me. Leave, and let me handle this,” he ordered.
 Izuku didn't know if the guy was just arrogant or if he had a trick up his sleeve. As his friends spirited him away, Mt Lady knelt to offer her hand, letting the teens grab on so she could lift them to put on a roof. Her face was grim as she looked at Izuku.
 She knew, too.
 Every hero on the battlefield knew. Izuku could feel it. He saw how Best Jeanist’s face pulled hard into itself, his eyebrows pinching together. How Gran Torino hit harder.
 They all knew what Izuku was about to do.
 Izuku stood on the roof watching as the fight went on, his timer counting down. Any… one, two-
 All for One dropped to his knees. His hand went to his chest.
 “What?!” the man choked. “No! My- NO-” he fell over, and Izuku closed his eyes.
 He’d just killed someone.
 He didn't fully regret it.

Notes on this AU:
-Izuku is touch starved. Since Inko can't touch his skin without dying, they don't often hug or anything. They have to take a lot of precautions.
-Inko has a lot of guilt over the death of the woman. She doesn't talk about it but she sometimes wonders what if she'd touched Izuku while he was unconscious to save the other woman’s life. She feels terrible about it.
-All Might supported Izuku partly because it was the right thing, partly because Izuku proved himself and partly out of spite. ‘Remember when you assholes said a Quirkless person can’t be a hero? Here he is.’
-Aizawa did not fully support Izuku at first. He was actually going to expel him to ‘show the world is against him before letting him back in,’ but Nezu hacked the machine to give correct points, proving Izuku was 11th out of the whole class. Nezu also sent a message stating, ‘Quirkism is not welcome, as you know.’ This threw Aizawa off his game, and when he confronted Nezu, the principal ripped apart any argument by rephrasing it as Aizawa’s old naysayers did. Drove it home for Aizawa. He is now in therapy and a much better teacher.
-Bakugou is currently suspended. Aizawa, with therapy, isn't as expulsion-happy. (I also refuse to believe that he leaves the black marks on their records because, oh god, wtf is that dude.) Also, Bakugou has been toeing the line until his final exam, when, like canon, he smacks Izuku, which is an instant fail for the blonde. He tries to attack Izuku and is now suspended. They're debating about full expulsion, but it's a mess.
-Of 1A, only Hagakure was firmly against Izuku. Aizawa did move the lowest-scoring member to Gen Ed for a week, and it was her. She was pissed off. She has always struggled with being invisible and comforted herself with the idea that at least she was useful, unlike Quirkless people. Ultimately, they had to swap her for a 1B member because she kept harassing Izuku. She is in therapy and on a tight leash.
-IDK who swapped with her. Monoma maybe.
-The only reason Bakugou and Hagakure weren't expelled is that it's actually more challenging to get expelled from the Hero course than you think. Aizawa may scare them, but with how much UA relies on its reputation, the board is super leery of expelling anyone. That being said, Bakugou, with his history of physical assault, is closer than Hagakure, who was verbal. Plus, she is actually doing alright in therapy compared to Bakugou.
-Izuku is best friends with Uraraka and Iida.
-Bakugou wasn't at the USJ. He had been temporarily suspended for a few days after the Battle Trials and would have gone with 1B instead, but the attack happened. Due to this, Kirishima never latched onto him. Instead, Kirishima is best friends with Tododoki and helps Izuku get him to use his fire.
-Bakugou’s Quirk and aggression are why he’s still in 1A, and no one wanted to remove Izuku from his support.
-Uraraka won the sports festival -AFO was arrogant enough to think his healing and durability Quirks would keep him alive. However, Izuku’s Quirk doesn't swap the wounds. What it does is trade lives. All Might died, and there must be another death to balance it. So, AFO didn't stand a chance.

Drown in it. - Chapter 1
Izuku Midoriya was born with a rage.
From the moment he drew his first breath, he let it be known to all around him. He screamed, he fought, he bit, and when consciousness finally grasped him and the effects of his actions became known, his rage calmed, simmering down to a low rumble in his chest. And yet, the heat of his passion remained stronger than ever. From comic books to biology, his interests varied, and he always kept his mother on her toes when each new addiction rose to the surface. He had combed through comic books, determined to learn to draw them himself, only to one day abandon them and turn to a morbid interest in taxidermy. Each month was a different obsession, each doubling in intensity as his mother fought to keep up with her son’s demands.
That was until he had seen him.
His mother had earned tickets to see a famous composer’s performance from her job as a thank-you for doing so much overtime, and she’d dragged her reluctant son away from his slaving over pinned insects to accompany her to the opera house. Inko had dressed in her finest black dress, a single strand of pearls adorning her neck as she painted her lips red, starkly contrasting her dark green hair. She’d fussed over Izuku, combing his unruly hair this way and that until eventually, he’d stilled, letting her pull him into his Sunday best before the two departed, their front row seats allowing them a clear view to the piano on stage. Izuku was immediately entranced- the shining ivory keys drawing in his curious eyes as he sat at the edge of his seat, wiggling to get a better look. The sign outside shone brightly with the composer's name, and as anticipation gripped him, Izuku found himself whispering the name of the man; All Might.
He repeated the name over and over in his brain, feeling it out, giving weight to it, enjoying the way it stirred interest in his head. He looked down at the pamphlet in his mother’s lap, tilting his head to read it better.
‘Tonight only, Japan’s greatest composer All Might performs his unfinished manifesto; One for All, a song of love and loss.
Passed down throughout eight generations of composers, ‘One for All’ has remained unfinished for over eighty years, each new composer adding their own story and vitality into the piece whilst still carrying on the first’s hopes and dreams- for music to unite all the people of the world’
Izuku didn’t realize his mouth had fallen open until his mother tutted him, tapping his chin with a gentle finger.
“Izuku honey, close your mouth, you’ll drool on yourself,” he snapped his mouth shut, turning to his mother with a question already burning on his tongue. As if she sensed his restlessness, Inko sighed, a pained look in her eyes.
“No, honey, I can’t get you a piano. I’m afraid my job doesn’t pay me nearly enough to be able to afford one… Maybe you can find a teacher and learn from them?” she said hopefully. Izuku frowned, sinking back into his seat with a huff.
“Whatever, it’s probably gonna be lame anyways,” he pouted, kicking his legs as he sunk low in his seat. Inko sighed considering telling him off but the lowering of the auditorium lights made her eyes widen and drew her attention to the stage immediately. Even little Izuku, so determined to be indifferent to it all, sat up a little straighter as a hushed murmur rippled through the crowd. A man appeared from the edge of the stage, blonde hair a shock as his electric blue eyes scanned the crowd with a kind yet determined gaze. A moment passed in pure silence before the crowd erupted in cheers and claps, the man on the stage raising a hand to wave at the crowd as he smiled, earning a louder round of applause and screams from the audience that followed him until he sat, straightening his sheet music before him as the crowd began to settle, the room filled to the brim with anticipation as All Might rolled his shoulders, fingers poised over the keys as he waited. The moment seemed to draw on forever, and Izuku found himself trembling with anticipation before finally -finally- All Might began to play.
It was… The most beautiful melody he had ever heard. The song carried the essence of melancholy and loss along with the feelings of determination and triumph, each note ringing across the quiet auditorium and rattling inside Izuku’s brain as he stared wide-eyed at the way the man on the stage played so beautifully as if the music itself had been written into his soul and he was pouring his vitality into the notes. His face was peaceful, yet the way his brows knit together betrayed his true feelings. This was not just a song- no, it was a tribute concocted by the man before him and his predecessors, a tribute to love, to loss, to hope, to everything in the world. Izuku had no words to describe the emotions that arose in his chest, and he found his vision began to warp and waver before he blinked and tears rolled down his cheeks. He sat in stunned silence through the eight minutes of the song, his lap wet with tears his mother had failed to notice had even begun to fall in the first place as she too was entranced by the ebb and flow of the music.
After what Izuku thought was far too little time, the song finished, hanging on a note that left the audience holding their breaths waiting for more, more, more. They wanted- no, they needed more, they needed the satisfying climax of the story, they needed the certain end notes that wrapped the song up in its perfect bouquet, ready to be replicated and replayed over and over again by eager fingers and eager listeners. And yet, those notes never came. All Might’s hands moved to his lap as he took a deep breath, standing up and facing the crowd before bowing deeply. A second of stunned silence grasped the audience once more before the cheers erupted all around, weeping people leaping to their feet and screaming their praises, hands raw from clapping as they gave the man the loudest standing ovation they could muster. Izuku stood on his seat, bawling as he clapped, trying to draw the attention of the incredible man on stage as he tugged on his mother’s shoulder, pointing to the stage.
“Mama- mama he’s so cool! I wanna be just like him!” he wailed, wiping at his face furiously as he waved at the stage will all his strength. Somehow, as if a hand had pointed him out among all those faces, All Might locked eyes with Izuku. The boy���s world seemed to stop, and he broke out into a watery smile as he waved at the composer, who waved back with a kind smile on his face.
In that short exchange, that fiery rage inside izuku changed. It warped and blossomed into an intense passion, and he finally knew where it was calling to. He had searched for a piano teacher the morning after the concert, and after finding a suitable one he had begged his mother for lessons.
“What about your insect pinning…?” Inko had said with a tone of slight dismay. Izuku had rummaged through his drawer and pulled out a frame with three wonkily pinned butterflies, preserved the same way they’d been in the book his mother had gifted him.
“I only did these three, I found them in the garden and wanted to give them to you,” he had said meekly.
Inko was a strong woman, but at the sight of her son’s pleading eyes, she buckled and eventually gave in, enrolling her son in piano lessons at the class down the road. Present Studios, it was called, owned by the husbands Mr. Aizawa and Mr. Yamada. Izuku had taken a liking to the two immediately, and after the first month of practicing, that fire in him had still not given out. After the second, Inko grew anxious that the time was drawing to a close, and her son would soon find another hobby to throw himself into, but the month came and went and Izuku still powered on, as fierce and determined as ever.
A year had passed, then two, then ten, and Izuku Midoriya was now in his third and final year of high school, his passion for music had never dwindled, only grown stronger. Coincidentally, his piano teacher also happened to be teaching at UA High School, and he had been Izuku’s homeroom teacher for the last three years as well as his piano teacher for thirteen. In his world of music, Izuku had found friends who were also passionate about the subject, although never as much as him. Iida Tenya and Yaoyorozu Momo had enrolled in Mic Studios two years after he had, and he had always offered a helping hand to them despite being younger than the two. In return, the three had sparked a close friendship that extended to a fourth, Ochako Uraraka, a student who had enrolled in Mr. Yamada’s singing classes and often joined the three piano students during her breaks.
Now, Izuku was leaning over Iida’s desk, gushing about a new piece of music he’d discovered while digging through dusty vinyls.
“It’s amazing! I was always familiar with piano and violin duets but I never had thought of violin and guitar! I think Yaomomo would love this piece- I’ve been translating the guitar parts into piano so we can play with Kaminari next band practice and-” he was cut off as a book hit the back of his head, making him fall face first into Iida’s desk.
“Bakugo!” Iida barked, raising a hand over Izuku’s head “No throwing things in the classroom!”
“If that goddamned nerd stopped yapping about his shitty music then I wouldn’t have thrown it at him! Tell him to shut it!” Bakugo yelled back, rolling his eyes as Izuku glared at him.
“It’s not shitty music! Just because you can’t understand it, doesn’t mean it’s bad!”
“Izuku! Language! Don’t engage with Bakugo, you know he’s only doing this to rile you up,” Iida’s voice took a gentler tone as he ended his sentence, pushing his glasses up his nose as he peered at Izuku with a furrowed brow. Izuku tensed for a moment before exhaling loudly.
“You’re right, he doesn’t even know anything about piano, why should I-” A hand slammed onto Iida’s desk and Izuku jumped back, staring wide-eyed at Bakugo’s scowl.
“For the record, I do know a thing or two about piano, stupid Deku. My parents have been dragging me across the country to catch every single one of All Might’s piano performances every time he’s had one, and on top of that they’ve made me study the old bastard’s scores until I was seeing them in my sleep,” Izuku couldn’t help the excited grin that crossed his face.
“Wow- Kacchan, I didn’t know you were a fan of All Might too! I’ve also been to all his concerts- well, most of them, my first one was with my mom when I was little but- how did I never know this?! We’ve been friends since we were in second grade!” Bakugo rolled his eyes, shoving his hands deep in his pockets as he turned to walk back to his group of friends.
“Maybe you’re just not as attentive as you thought you were, Deku. There’s a lot about me you don’t know.”

Izuku tugged at his hair, muttering to himself as he poured over his scores. He was going to do it- today, he’d send his very own manifesto to All Might in hopes of becoming one of his students. He’d been constructing this melody over the past three years, and the tear splotches and coffee stains on the otherwise immaculate piece of paper were evidence of that. He was coming to the end, the final home stretch of his song before he could finally call it finished and sign it off, but the melodies he once couldn’t get out of his brain seemed to have escaped him. He’d spent days obsessing over the last few bars of the song, making sure it ended perfectly and resonated with the rest of his piece. Iida had tried his best to help him, even bringing in Yaoyorozu in on her breaks from her homework and afterschool lessons to try and help push Izuku in the direction of finally completing his work, but even she seemed to be running short on ideas.
“You could always have the ending be a small repeat of the first two bars with a different flair?” She offered, tugging at her silky black hair as her eyes scanned over and over his music sheets.
“I thought of that but it seems too… I don’t know, basic? I feel like that's how most songs end nowadays, I want mine to end with a bang or something that’ll make the listeners want to hear more from me instead of just being a one-and-done, y’know?” he slid down his chair a little as Yaoyorozu leaned over his desk once more, ruffling papers and tapping a pencil against her lip as she thought.
“I’m afraid I’ve got nothing then, sorry Midoriya,” she seemed to deflate as she admitted defeat slumping back in her chair as the two pianists wallowed in silence, the bitter taste of defeat hanging thick on their tongues. The door opened a crack and Iida stepped in, carrying a tray of steaming tea and some pastries he’d baked earlier that day. Yaoyorozu seemed to light up as she saw him in the doorway, a gentle blush coating her cheeks as he set the tray down on a vacant table nearby, drawing a chair and motioning for Izuku and Yaoyorozu to join him.
“Any luck?” he said to Izuku, wrapping an arm around Yaoyorozu’s waist as she waltzed over to him, placing a peck on the top of his head as she poured herself some tea with a quiet ‘thank you’ to him.
“Nope. I feel like I’m running around in circles…Nothing I come up with sounds satisfying enough, and out of all the endings I’ve written none of them seem good enough to warrant me a place as one of All Might’s students!” Izuku’s voice was strained as he vented his frustrations, staring at the paper with exhaustion dripping from his body.
“Maybe you should take a break for a few days, come back, and then review it after a while and see if any new ideas have sprung into your head. That usually works for me when I’ve been stuck on a paper,” As always, Iida was the voice of reason among the three of them. Yaoyorozu sighed, drawing a stool from nearby beside Iida’s chair, and leaned her head on his shoulder, chewing on her cinnamon roll thoughtfully.
“I think Tenya’s right, as always. It could always be helpful to take a break and go do something random- who knows, it might help you think better and give you some better ideas,” she offered, which earned an approving nod from Iida.
Izuku sighed “Fine. I’ll take a break… but not for too long! The deadline is in a month, and I still need to run through it a few times to make sure the chord progressions flow nicely, and to double and triple check my notes are on the correct lines and I haven’t written them in the wrong place… Oh, and I forgot to put a few rest and repeats-” his speech turned into incoherent mumbling as he turned back to his score, grabbing a pencil and eraser and beginning to scribble some things and erase others. Iida and Yaoyorozu shared a look, then the pair turned back to Midoriya.
“Izuku. You need to take a break starting now. Come have some tea, I’ve been teaching Tenya how to brew it properly to a lady’s liking,” she said, accompanied by a smug smirk as she grabbed her teacup, sticking her pinky out as she sipped her tea. Iida couldn’t help but roll his eyes at his girlfriend, reaching over and pouring a cup for both him and Midoriya.
“Here. It’s chamomile, I figured you two needed something to calm you since you’ve been slaving away in here for the last two weeks,” he offered a cup to Izuku, who took it gratefully, staring into the contents for a few moments before speaking again.
“Hey- Iida, you did piano with us up until third year. Have you got any ideas as to how I could finish this?” Iida thought for a moment before shaking his head.
“I’m afraid not. All the ideas I had I offered to ‘Rozu… Although I might know someone who could have an idea-”
“I am not asking Kacchan.” Izuku interrupted with a glare “He made it very clear we’re academic rivals now- he’s also trying to be All Might’s student, and he said if I so much as breathed near his sheet music he’d hang me with a piano string and use my blood to write his next score,” Iida and Yaoyorozu grimaced at the threat.
“Well, that’s Bakugo for you- as crude and mean as ever,” Yaoyorozu mumbled into her cup, taking a long sip.
“He’s not that bad usually! He’s just very…competitive, y’know? We’re both fans of All Might, so I understand him not wanting to risk his chances- I don’t blame him!” the couple in front of him shared a long, knowing look before turning back to him.
“Sure… well um, I hope this… ‘friendly rivalry’ of yours doesn’t result in you helping Bakugo out without letting us know,” Yaoyorozu raised an eyebrow at Midoriya, and he chuckled nervously.
“What?! When have I… haha… ever done that?”
“For the sake of both my mental health and your physical well-being, I’m going to choose to ignore that. But seriously, Izuku,” she picked up the final piece of his sheet music, scanning her eyes over it and chewing her lip in thought, “I think you should keep this to yourself- all of it, okay?”
She made to slide the paper back onto the desk before she paused, eyes widening.
“Oh! I’ve had an idea-” she shot up, almost knocking her teacup to the floor as she set it down on the desk with a loud clatter. Swiping a pencil from behind Izuku’s ear, she scribbled a few notes down before holding the paper up, a victorious grin on her face as she flipped the paper around to Tenya and Izuku, showing them-
“It just…ends?” Tenya said with mild confusion, adjusting his glasses as he leaned forward.
“Yeah, it ends so suddenly-” Izuku hummed the notes on the last few bars, envisioning himself on the piano before he paused, eyes as wide as saucers as he leaped from his chair.
“Yaomomo you genius!” he laughed, setting his cup down and throwing his arms around her in a tight embrace, “An abrupt ending!! An homage to All Might’s ‘One for All, 8th movement’!” He took the paper from her delicately, eyes scanning over and over the page before he raced to the piano tucked away in the corner of the room, setting the paper up and playing the final page, the grin on his face widening with pride as his hands stilled.
“It's perfect!” he laughed, brushing his hair back as he collected the page again and added it to the rest of his score “Yaoyorozu I owe you my life- if I get this internship I’ll forever be in your debt-” she waved him off, cheeks red.
“It’s nothing! I’m sure you would’ve thought of it too if you weren’t so stressed-” Izuku shook his head, bowing at the waist before shooting back up, the familiar spark back in his eyes as he rocked back and forth on his feet.
“No no please- I’ll make sure to credit you and Iida accordingly once I hand this in- speaking of, I’ve got to do that now! The post office closes soon and I have work tomorrow with Mr. Aizawa- I’ll see you two later!” he scooped up his papers and bag and before Yaoyorozu or Iida had the chance to process his words, Izuku was out the door running as if his life depended on it- and it might as well have. Izuku thought he’d die if he didn’t make it to the post office in time, and thanks to his preparation, all other parts of his application had already been filled out and slotted inside the envelope tucked in his bag.
He folded his sheet music after looking over it longingly once more, hands shaking with excitement as he slid it into the too-thick envelope and licked the letter closed, waving to the security guard at the front of the post office as he slowed to a walk, sweat beading his forehead.
“Just in time, Midoriya,” Vlad huffed, pulling his hat over his eyes as he leaned against the wall “We’re closed for the next three days for renovations, so just put your letter in the box and it’ll be sent out tomorrow morning,”
“Thank you, Mister Vlad!” Izuku tried steadying his breathing as he walked towards the red box, glancing down at his envelope once more. Izuku was startled as he collided with someone, apologies already flowing from his mouth before he even made eye contact with the stranger.
“Jesus- watch it you damn ex- Deku?! What the hell are you doing here?” Bakugo barked, face already twisted in a scowl as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Oh! Kacchan! I was just um- sending a letter!” Izuku said quickly, side-stepping Bakugo and sliding his letter into the red postage box before stepping away “For the um… All Might apprenticeship-”
A laugh ripped from Bakugo, one so loud it made Izuku jump as the blonde wiped away a tear from his eye.
“Oh that's rich, you think you can get the spot to study with the All Might? You really are a moron, Deku. A loser like you doesn’t know a natural from a crotchet, what makes you think your stupid music is gonna be enough?” Izuku clenched his fists stepping away from Bakugo.
“I’ve spent the last three years perfecting this- if All Might doesn’t think it's good, then I’ll try again and again until it’s good enough for him. I don’t care if I don’t get the apprenticeship, as long as he’s seen my music, that’s good enough for me.” It was a bald-faced lie, and Izuku wondered if, for a moment, Bakugo saw through his deception. If he did, the blond didn’t let on and instead just scoffed.
“You… Get out of my sight, damned extra,” Bakugo turned on his heel and stormed away, hands shoved in his pockets.
“Good luck to you too, Kacchan,” Izuku said to his back, rolling his eyes as he turned and began his walk home. His mama would be so proud once he told her of his (and his friends’) success with the score. He played the score over and over in his brain as he trudged home, arriving at his street before he even processed his surroundings.
As Izuku neared his front door, he noticed a plain letter on the front step. Curious, he picked it up and turned it over, eyes widening as he saw it was addressed to him. He glanced around, frowning lightly as he walked inside, kicking his shoes off by the front door as he walked towards the living room.
“Izuku! Welcome home, honey!” Inko greeted, leaning up to peck his cheek before she scurried past him, pulling on a pair of shoes and a coat “I’ve got an urgent work meeting to attend so I won’t be home until later tonight, but I’ve fixed you up something for dinner. Make sure you do your homework, and lock the door once I leave! Love you Izuzu!” she was out the door a second later, leaving a confused Izuku standing in his living room alone with a letter in his hands. He turned the lock on the front door and turned back to walk to his room, eyes glued on the letter as he kicked his bedroom door shut. He pulled out a letter opened from his drawer (courtesy of Yaoyorozu- one of the many strange gifts he’d been given by her, albeit a very practical one) and sliced open the top of the letter, withdrawing the page from within.
He frowned. The letter was typed out, and the handwriting on the back of it was far too neat and formal to resemble any of his friends’ handwriting. Izuku began reading, and he felt himself turning redder with each sentence.
Dear Izuku,
First of all; Hi. I’m aware that this letter could be seen as odd, but I didn’t know how else to approach you. Truth be told, I’ve been in love with you for a long time now. I’ve admired your passion for everything from a distance for quite a while, but in the same way you’ve fallen in love with chasing your dream of being a composer, I’ve fallen in love with the boy in front of me. You’re kind; something a lot of people nowadays seem to be unable to be, and your kindness extends even to people who’ve wronged you or done you harm. I’m not sure how else to describe it but you have a pure soul, Izuku, and it's evident from the way you smile, but also in the pieces of music you write. They’re so full of life and energy and passion, and every time I walk past the band or music rooms and hear you play I feel my heart skip a beat. I wish I had the courage to say this to your face, but I’m afraid that if you knew who I was you’d hate me. For now, this is the most courage I can muster up- I hope that’s okay.

Izuku stared at the letter dumbfounded, blinking rapidly as he read it over and over again. Someone… liked him? Someone liked him enough to send him an anonymous love letter.
He was calling Yaoyorozu before he knew it.
“Midoriya? What’s up, have you handed in you-”
“Someone just sent me a love letter. An anonymous one.”

BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA FIC IDEAS: BAKUGOU KATSUKI
So, recent chapters have made me thought up some fic ideas I'd like to see for Kacchan especially given how ch 431 had done him dirty. It aint much but I like thinking about em
1. Did it all with a broken heart:
The first one may have a Major Character Death in that it follows Kacchan as he lives his final months because of a terminal heart problem from the war. He accomplishes his goals and dreams, and even though he and Izuku never became partners in the end, Kacchan went out with a bang and feral grin with no other lingering regrets
The same can't be said with Izuku though, realising too late that Kacchan has and always been his Special Person
2. Wherever the chaos is
This is something heavily inspired by Lan Wangji from MDZS. I really like the whole saying 'to go wherever the chaos is' that's usually tied to Lwj. In this, Kacchan makes the decision to forge a different path when Izuku rejected him. He decides to let go of a hero agency and becomes a solo hero
No longer interested in ranks and whatnot, Kacchan leaves the modern hero system and becomes a hero similar to comics, with secret hideouts and such. He travels, winning to save lives in however ways he can
3. Wisteria:
This has the premise where Kacchan is actually Kudou's reincarnation, which is why they look eerily similar. After the war, he slowly starts to regain his memories of his past life. After 8 years, he feels that he's fulfilled what needed to be done for those in the present and decides to set out and rediscover himself as both Kacchan and Kudou

izuku didn’t just have to see katsuki’s dead body, he also had to see the fucking all might card right next to him. physical proof that katsuki always had a tender spot in his heart for izuku and their childhood together. evidence that katsuki fucking LOVED HIM THIS WHOLE TIME and now it’s TOO LATE. it’s actually so devastatingly romantic and fucking tragic. izuku really only finds out katsuki loved him all along when he thinks he’s lost him forever.

So uh let me snowball an idea.
Tears over beers - Modern baseball krbk —> bkdk
Kiri mourning his and Kats relationship (not just romantic ) after the war. Katsuki starts pulling away from him. He and izuku attached at the hip wanting to make up for years of lost time. They all hang out like normal as a class but Kiri can’t help but feel something is missing.
He leaves space for him everywhere, still tries to push his way into his life but he notices Katsuki’s eyes linger a little too long on his childhood friend’s freckled face.
He knows he can’t give Kat what he really needs after everything they’ve been through but he’ll always have his heart open to the blonde. Everything becomes a bittersweet memory to be told around a campfire, laughing and smiling.

Something about Izuku I keep thinking about is how much he's a downright hypocrite and the only reason he isn't called out on it is because he's one for himself and not for others and at the core of it all it boils down to his pending childhood issues and the *vaguely gestures* "relationship" he and Katsuki have- I mean, just out of the top of my head:
Wants to be a strong and dependable hero but is at his weakest when he's alone.
Says to Himiko he would never hurt someone he loves but was the reason Katsuki was forced to dance with death until his own sacrifice. Hell, I'm expecting him to actually accidentally hurt Katsuki (Physically? Emotionally? You decide) next time they talk.
Wants to save people with a smile but barely cracked genuine ones during his battle with Tenko- I can think of two(?), and even then those felt more like a resignation (379 and 412 iirc) than actual smiles.
Being aware Kacchan's a jackass, fine, but the entire "Imitate the people you love/admire" themes, having an attitude when heated or absolutely Done with anyone's BS (makes sense for someone who grew up besides a kid in the Inferiority-Superiority Complex but still) and "This is a battle between All For One and One For All, you can't keep up" is still very much pot calling the kettle black (it's because his "arrogance" is rooted in selflessness and desire to be useful but that's for another day)
Deadass called All For One out for being a lonely man pretending to be a "Demon Lord" yet will not admit he himself thinks a he's just a lonely kid pretending to be a hero; and by the time he seemed to be growing out of it: Paranormal Liberation Front.
"IT'S YOUR POWER, ISN'T IT?!" Cool, nice of him to comfort Shoto and try the same with Touya, now if only he could do the same in regards to himself and OFA-
Wasn't able to connect with Tenko at all and that's why he failed but it's wild to me he'd still the one who even at surface level could relate to):
Spinner, because they're nerds who were ostracized based on Quirks/lack thereof looking for a purpose and were unable to help him because of AFO's interference;
Himiko, because they want to be like others (because they hate themselves at least a little bit) but also show love in a way others wouldn't accept and;
Touya, because they wanted to prove they could be useful to others and be heroes to the point of actively harmed themselves while using their own Quirk.
Hell, when you think about it he related to the crying child but he could've used Literally Anything from his relationship with Katsuki to try and reach Tenko, but of course he didn't, that means he'd have to think about his own issues and yet he saw Tenko's issues no wonder he didn't get the job done-
Also can we talk about him saying he relates to Ochako confronting Himiko but she actually succeeded- Or even Shoto wanting to forgive Endeavor; I keep recalling both Ch. 322 him saying he won't forgive Tenko for anything he did (understandable but still) and Tenko going "And I won't forgive anyone". Connecting these three instances are huge stretches, I know, but really, he hasn't addressed the apology he got- combined narrative punishments for empty platitudes.
Kept saying he needed to improve in his control with OFA: had to get beaten up during his internship and in the Summer Camp for that lesson to stick... Then he heard the words "Control Your Heart" and decided to Not Address It At All.
Supposed to surpass but he's really All Might's successor in every way that counts: Smile so nobody will worry, keep fighting even though you are destroying yourself, be so selfless you'll make your friends desperate enough to make you stop for your own good, hide every single thing you can about yourself, the only difference is in the bed they made: Toshinori lies in omission most of the time, and Izuku thinks he lies in white when almost every other character's in the dark, but as long as there's a dream of bright smiles in the future, who cares they're now forcefully entangled in this nightmare, right?
And these are just the examples I can think of the top of my head, there might be more, but. No wonder we've been "panicking" (let's be real his therapist already scheduled him for Ground Beta atp-) Shoto and Ochako brushed him off by accident in Chapter 425, it's the consequences of his hypocritical ass coming back to bite him-
(I am not hating on him, by the way, it's just something about him I wanted to point out. I like that aspect of his. Makes him more human. But jeez can someone call him out and make him practice what he preaches? XD)

Bnha fandom, lemmie suggest smtn real fast:
What if instead of saying "pre-quirk music", we all just called it "music" and then let our faves be obsessed with the current popular hits like lady gaga and mother mother and mitsuki and whatever else you love without having to make them listen to 200+ year old music that probably barely survived the times.
Music is just music, wtf is a quirk going to change about it??? Maybe a couple vocal styles that couldnt otherwise be replicated with equipment?
Unless you specifically want them to be very into Very Old music bc they like antiques or historical stuff, then just let that music be current.
If u wanna spice it up u can even say the artists of today have quirks. Or maybe some are quirkless and thats part of their music popularity!
Just... It doesnt have to be pre-quirk... The amount of quirk in the song has nothing to do with humans making music...

I saw a take on a TT that was talking about the new cover; and they said that it's odd that Horikoshi did this(specifically, Izuku cradling Katsuki and looking feral) when "that's not how it happens in the manga," and furthermore says,
"In the manga, Izuku doesn't think about Katsuki for longer than like a minute, doesn't seem bothered by it for too long" or similar so they don't know why this cover should hold the weight that it does, essentially.
Because in their claim, Izuku didn't CARE about Katsuki's death for more than a second.
AND LIKE
They have also claimed that they like the relationship of BKDK(not romantically, but otherwise) and I am like HOW can that be your takeaway if you appreciate anything about their relationship ??
We all KNOW Izuku lost his marbles at the SIGHT of Katsuki. We all KNOW that he was raging out of control again, and we all KNOW that Mirio was the only one able to get close to Izuku to tell him that Katsuki would be okay. (And what would have happened if he DIDN'T get through to Izuku??)
We all saw Izuku have to pull himself together and then put himself behind that wall of BW, behind his scarf, behind his Quirk, and FOCUS himself on Shigaraki.
He was VERY MUCH BOTHERED by Katsuki's death. That's not subtext. That's TEXT.
What part of this entire STORY signals that Izuku wasn't bothered??
I JUST-- OOF.
Like, the theme here is that Izuku supresses ALL of this trauma and possibly other feelings that he views as "gross" or not something he can explore rn. If you don't know what Izuku looks like when he's holding back his real emotions for the sake of the current mission, you're not reading the text. You're not seeing the visuals. There's different interpretations but I don't think this one is really up for debate.
Izuku was EXTREMELY AFFECTED, DEVASTATINGLY AFFECTED by Katsuki's death, and the cover is emblematic of that.
ANYWAY sorry had to vent about that.
