im rotating Nehiri and Zamrie's meeting at Last Light at the speed of light and shaking bc G O D is it such a fun little moment (for me and for Zamrie) to think about

Zamrie, who's been left on read wondering what happened to her friend-rival that made him literally disappear without any warning. Zamrie, who's out helping the Harpers because Jaheira managed to get a message to them a dead man is walking a century after he was buried. Zamrie, who's so happy to see her friend-rival alive and well, only to realise death's shadow looms over him and is crushed by the truth of what Mysta's demanded from him after everything.

Nehiri, who was just trying to return home after losing everything that meant something to her. Nehiri, who's only helping because its her path home and to being cured of the tadpole. Nehiri, who for all that she's grown fond of the others in her party would let Gale sacrifice himself when it came down to it if it means the Absolute is stopped and she can return to her life.

these two tieflings, being bitterly opposed with one another so soon after meeting because Zamrie thinks Nehiri doesn't care enough, while Nehiri thinks Zamrie cares too much. until they end up learning about each other and realise they're wrong. that the way they show their loyalty to the ones they care about is different.

these two tieflings, who are so haunted by their families and their pasts, but who are dealing with it so differently. one is striving to find a way to rip those threads out of their soul so they can stitch themselves anew and pretend they're not one of them, and the other carries that past wherever they go and uses it to determine where they go and what they do to make up for those sins.

3. What is a film you absolutely despise and why? La La Land can go screw!!!!!! I don't like anything Damien Chazelle has done (except First Man which is the exception that proves the rule), and La La Land is such head-up-ass annoying bullshit. AND it's out of focus and gave me an insane headache. Get outa here Damien!!!

4. Is there a film that you love except for the ending? What would you change about the ending? This is a complicated one because I think there are better movies that exactly fit this criteria than the answer I am going to give, but: Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye. I don't love everything about the movie, but the ending is always the part that makes me go, Okay Maybe I Hate This. I love Chandler's book too much to take the movie as a separate entity, and I reallllly don't like how that movie is untrue to the heart of Chandler's story-- and that's all brought to a head in the ending. My Philip Marlowe would NEVER. Because I will bully you into reading that book, I won't say more, but anyone who has read the book and watched the movie, you know what I mean. AND I really dislike that it's this untouchable movie that filmbros LOVE (especially the ending!! ugh!!!!). I'm worried it's the end-all-be-all of Long Goodbyes and no one will ever make another movie of my beloved book because Altman's is considered definitive, even though it's doing DAMAGE to me and to philip marlowe. Read a book, filmbros!!!!

15. What is the funniest movie you've seen? tbh when I went to see Anchorman in a theatre when I was like, 14, I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself. Other movies that have made me laugh so hard I fell over include: Spy, The Great Race, The Palm Beach Story, Not Another Teen Movie

It's like we all collectively forgot as a society that friendship and just connection in general takes effort. Even if you meet someone you immediately click with, it takes hanging out about 20 times (!) to become friends. And guess what, some of those 20 meetings might be awkward or unimpressive.

We all want to reap the benefits (having a friend circle, having a partner, getting married) without doing the work (going to events, interacting with people, learning to handle conflict maturely, dating). Myself included. If I could, I'd never leave the house or go on another mediocre date again... except, that's part of the process.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the cure to the loneliness epidemic is touching some grass and building tolerance for tedious in-person interactions.

outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

but actually the real villain is the doctor. guy's a judgemental, shaming, pathologizing asshole. and he's been in charge of michael's care since he was SIX YEARS OLD? kid never had a chance. i'd go on a killing spree too

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

side note: mike commits his first murder wearing a clown costume...which is never referenced again? his 'iconic' costume is a generic mask and wig and jumpsuit, when we coulda had a Killer Clown Michael Myers??? travesty
