Matthew yanked his sceptre away from Amara's taunting finger as he did not even want to entertain her touching anything that belonged to him. Was it the Nightspire spell that was making his blood boil even more? That hardly mattered though, not when Matthew was more than happy to give into his anger. The fallen deity was not a fan of Underworld demons even if he was closer to them these days, but they were just so... annoying.

"If a curse is what you're asking for, then a curse you shall have," he said, voice low as he lifted a hand to point a long-nailed finger at Amara. Matthew was well-versed in curse magic on a regular day and conjuring one that would put the other demon under a spell of eternal slumber was not difficult. He did not need his sceptre for this. The spell took barely a moment to form at the tip of his finger before it shot itself towards her.

Matthew Alexander claiming he didn't need to abide by the rules had not—How had the lady at the hair salon put it?—been on Amara's Bingo card. He was a stickler for rules, so proper and boring it almost defied his very nature. If the party was so ridiculous, then what had he been doing on the committee? What was he doing standing guard and making sure everyone had a costume?

No, she didn't believe it for a second. A happy ending was the one thing he would have to take for himself, the one thing he absolutely couldn't pretend was for someone else. But he still wasn't done prostrating himself before the deities.

Her gaze flickered from his face to the orb atop his scepter, which had begun to glow a foreboding purple, then back again. A deeply mischievous glint settled into her eyes. “That’s exactly what I’m saying,” she enunciated clearly, running a taunting finger along the curve of the sphere before stepping back—one, two, three steps. Not out of fear, but to gauge his resolve. She was confident in her ability to teleport elsewhere before Matthew could hit her with a spell. He would have to be more crafty than that, just like the real Maleficent had been. “Unless you’re afraid you won’t be able to measure up, of course?”

The way that they introduce and build up amara as a love interest for dean only to make it clear how much dean absolutely hates his connection to her and then use that connection to specifically highlight how strong his feelings for cas are but only in a way that shippers who were looking for it would notice is crazy they should teach that in queerbaiting school or smth
