I was thinking how to arrange the events of the Diamond Girls au, now that I've decided that Madara is not in the frame and neither is anything related to Kaguya.
First of all, that means Akatsuki is free to be a group searching for peace within all nations and doesn't have to play the villain role, while able to still play as the antagonists. I want it to be less extreme than in the manga/anime, but still show the conflict of violence in the search for peace.
Rin is alive, right? So I like the idea of Obito still snapping and joining Akatsuki, because he wants to fix the world and make it a better place, for Rin, for Kakashi. But if Madara isn't controlling him, then who killed Minato and Kushina? Who is playing the puppeteer?
Well, we know about the Uzumakis genocide and we know Konoha was planning to do the same to the Uchihas, so I said okay, why not go directly to the point and make the big big conflict of the Diamond Girls au about how the Hidden Villages like their clans strong 'til they are strong enough to overrule them and their authority.
I said from the beginning that I want the au to focus on the normally invisible parts of the story. I don't want to tell the story through the main events, like Naruto unraveling the thread of Konoha's corruption and realizing the depth of his Konoha's betrayal to the Uzumaki clan, or like Sasuke agonizing over the political tension regarding his clan and the fact Itachi joined Akatsuki.
If the hypocrisy of the Hidden Villages is the main problem, I can also do cool things like frame Orochimaru assassination of both the Kazekage and the Hokage in a grey light. It was murder, yes, but he also took the lives of two of the most corrupted leaders around. I can make the Konoha Council try to frame Tsunade as part of the conspiracy along with Orochimaru, allowing Danzo to become the next hokage, forcing the Uchihas to go after the last Senju and her apprentices or go all against Konoha, which would justify their later destruction. I can even twist the story and involve Jiraiya in all of it, 'cause Akatsuki helped Orochimaru and Jiraiya unknowingly had played the part helping Nagato, Yahiko and Konan escape. A real mess.
I can depict the conflict of Sasuke realizing he doesn't want to be a cop 'cause he doesn't want to blindly follow orders, he doesn't want to feed that oppression machine. I can finally involve Naruto with his Uzumaki heritage and say Konoha killed Minato because he wanted to restore the Uzumaki clan in Konoha and I can do justice to Kushina, the woman who knowing the stakes, decided to hide clues for her son to find, decided to build him a whole spy network and a trust circle he could lean on when the time came. Even if they killed them, they could not defeat their son.
And in the middle of it all, our girls.
Hinata having no room to do anything else but turn into politics and struggling to find the words that would help her survive. Ino shouldering the weight of being the heiress of her clan but refusing to let it be all she is, refusing to allow a job to become her life. Tenten being forced to marry Neji so no one can touch her and hating it as much as Neji does, not because they don't love each other, but because they hate how people reduces Tenten for it, while also enduring the Hyuga treatment, rooting and plotting on how to dismantle the structure of that rotting clan with Hinata. Sakura realizing that being a medic with a good heart is something really dangerous in a world full of violence and malice, worse even when she's the spiting image of the woman Konoha has wanted to break or kill now for many many years; she doesn't have the pedigree of a clan, Sasuke and Naruto and Kakashi can't protect her if they are fighting their own battles, she can only run and hide in Suna with Chiyo and hope for the right moment to come back and help her friends fix the whole mess (meaning try to keep them alive as the fight the system suffocating them).
But more than anything, I want the readers to notice how no one really looks at all these girls in Naruto, and how perfect is that set up for a story of political intrigue.

I thought it would be fun to write a second part about the reasons that led to the breakup with each of her exes. (I really laughed while writing this, I hope it amuses you too.đ¤Ł)
đđđđđđĽđ: too immature. She'd had enough of his little tantrums over his 'art' but she had to admit that hearing him talk about âdropping bombsâ on federal buildings might also have played a big part in her decision to break up. lmfao.
đđđ¨đĄđ: Aaah IzuzuâŚ.. A charming man, isn't he? He's got the face of an angel, he's mature, stable and earns a good living. He's a pretty handy guy and God, let me tell you, it's not just wood his hands know how to handle. đ So what went wrong? Oh simple. Three months into the relationship he asked Sakura to marry him! She panicked and broke it off. At this point in a relationship normally you confess your ugly secret middle names and fantasies, but not wedding rings. I mean, come on! She can go to Burger King with him, but to the altar??? Nope! Next.
đĄđđđ: Emotionally unavailable. She's pretty sure the hyuuga loved her but not enough to let her in completely. He's a man damaged by life and no matter how hard she's tried to make things work, she can't settle for less when she thinks she deserves so much more. She likes him, they've remained on good terms, but Neji needs therapy, not a petite-amie.
đđđđ¨: Aww. Very sweet relationship, but pretty bland now that she thinks about it. It's obvious to her today what led to the breakup. Sakura liked Haku, Haku liked Sakura, but he liked his father's business partner even more: Momochi Zabuza. You can't stay where you're not wanted. She wished him all the happiness in the world and would keep fond memories of their time together. No hard feelings.
đ˘đĽđ˘đđđđ đđĽđ¨: *cough* ahem... how can I put this? She doesn't know why she was infatuated with him back then. Well, actually, she does: his hair was beautiful. Really silky. Hmm Orochi⌠This man has a very talented tongue, it made her see the stars and maybe even Jesus. He worked in a pharmaceutical lab. She couldn't say he was the cuddliest man on earth, but he had his good days. Of course, Sakura knew he wasn't the man for her, and she wasn't saying that because he'd tried to steal her kidney to sell on the black market. No, not at all. She remembered calling the cops, but Orochimaru had already left town by then. ( but not for much longer. It's likely that someone tipped off the cops to his presence on the set. đ¤ˇđťââď¸ She's sure he'll find plenty of guinea pigs in jail).
And finally đđ§đđđđ: Oh, Tachi. A very handsome man, huh? Intelligent, a little arrogant but very caring... well... especially with HIS BROTHER. Okay, don't get me wrong, at first Sakura thought it was adorable. It's an important value, but when your brother walks into your room without knocking while you're fucking your girlfriend's brains out, the least you can do is kick him out and tell him to fuck off, right? Well⌠not Itachi. Like he was actually making small talk with Sasuke while his cock was buried deep inside her. I mean???? One can be close to one's family and without much modesty but at this point????? đđ So yeah Itachi is great and for a while she thought she'd make a life with him, BUUUUT.... She signed up to be his fiancĂŠ, not his brother's too. So she gave him back his ring and advised him to learn the definition of âhaving boundaries.â She misses him sometimes, he was an exceptional lover and an even better boyfriend. She's seen heaven more times than she can count. (It's possible Itachi kicked his brother out after the breakup. Because yeah... they were roommates. She assumes that losing your fiancĂŠe because your brother interferes with your relationship has that effect on peopleâŚâŚ..)
Sakura has a thing for men with long hair. She always has. That's why, when she takes part in a show designed to get all her exes in the same room, they realize that they have only one thing in common: their hair length, but hair color, eye color, figure and even character can be completely different from one man to the next.
The men on the set will be: Deidara, Izuna, Neji, Haku, Orochimaru (nah, don't ask. you don't want to know.) and Itachi.
Everyone will stare at Sakura with an arched eyebrow as if to say âreally?â To which she'll reply with flushed cheeks that she âdoesn't see what the big deal is. They all loved having their hair braided by her.â

I hate to say this but do you think that Naruto and Sakura were kinda similar in them being selfish chasing after Sasuke? I mean Sakura was just whining and being sad and begging for him to come home so they could play happy family and Naruto less obnoxious but also wanted to drag Sasuke back against his will. They also cared about each other so it seemed less annoying than Sakura's plea. Neither of them including Kakashi really respected his choices and even if they disagreed with his actions, they didn't take him seriously as to why he did the things he did.
I mean the whole, I'll break your arms and legs and drag you back, really grosses me out because at the end of the day that mentality is exactly what every abusive figure in Sasuke's life, especially Itachi and Orochimaru were like. Not respecting his choices or his autonomy, thinking they knew better and he was incapable of making a decision for himself (even if they disagreed) and forced that decision upon him through physical violence.
I'm not trying to say their relationship is completely abusive, and Sasuke hurt Naruto as well, but the lack of respect for his autonomy is something I really hate because the manga reinforces it. Naruto kinda changes towards the end and respects Sasukes decision even though he disagrees with it, but still. I find it icky how almost every character whom he has a relationship with embodies this characteristic
hmmm Naruto's desire to bring Sasuke back for me was always actually much more selfless to me than it was selfish. Naruto wanted Sasuke back because he knew that Sasuke was in danger. Naruto, to me, always felt like he was acting on what he thought would save Sasuke from horrible fates.
we can't forget that Sasuke's decision to go with Orochimaru was a suicide mission. the goal back then was to sell his body to Orochimaru for power to fulfill his goal of killing itachi, and after that was completed he was to give up his body and life for Orochimaru. Naruto was acting in his extremes trying to prevent Sasuke from killing himself for the sake of revenge. that's not selfishness. Naruto longed for the desire to keep team seven in tact, but he brought up that dynamic in crucial moments moreso to try to tell Sasuke "please don't throw your life away when there can still be good in your world." I dislike when people water this down to "oh, Naruto was just as bad as Sakura for trying to stop him from making his own decisions." Sasuke's decisions were very self-destructive, especially to someone who someone who only had the outside point of view that Naruto had.
and then when Naruto does learn the full story, when he finally gets the crucial information about the uchiha genocide, he forgoes his urges to rip Sasuke from his dangerous goals and instead reaches out to Sasuke with understanding. he validates Sasuke's actions and emotions. and when Sasuke was completely battered after fighting at the kage summit and then killing danzo, Naruto did not force him to come back with him. Naruto had entered that area in almost perfect physical form, had seen Sasuke was clearly beaten up and weakened already, and instead of going through with bringing Sasuke back by force (which he more than likely would have been able to with his sage mode since sasuke was already weakened) he chose to simply tell him "i understand now". he was still going to defend his home full of loved ones, but he vowed in that moment to try to find a solution for Sasuke that wouldn't result in death or murder, because he could see how little sasuke still regarded his own life. he was saying "I value your life and sanity. I want to fix what's wrong in a way that is best for everyone, and in a way that won't leave you lonely and in danger."
in vote2 we learn that sasuke's goal was that of dictatorship- specifically, be wanted to unite the world by giving them all a common enemy: himself. Naruto did not want Sasuke to be hated unanimously; he knew that pain too well from his own childhood. he did not want Sasuke to set himself up in a way where his death would be the only way to achieve peace. at the core of it, Naruto felt for Sasuke, and didn't want to see him continue to hurt himself and bring upon his own death.
Naruto was always trying to what would keep Sasuke safe, alive, and loved. I don't think that's selfish at all.

Lately I have seen a lot of posts call Naruto selfish for chasing Sasuke what do you think
hello anon i hope u know you just give me the perfect excuse to write a rant ive been iching to write so i apologize that i will make this so long
anyways back to the point. ive seen many people call naruto selfish for chasing dasuke and many other things that at this point i feel like they arent even reading the manga and just choosing what to niptick because they dont like his character and just want to have reasons to hate him. even if the reasons doesnt make sense but whatever.
this all reasons can simply debunked if u read the panel where sasuke himself asks naruto why he never gave up on him and naruto answers saying that he felt sasuke was in pain and couldnt just ignore it. now tell me how is it selfish of one person to not want to see the closest person in his life be sad? shouldnt everyone want their loved ones to be okay?
now here is where people start nipticking and saying stuff even if the story is telling other thing. because when u give that explanation ppl go and say "well but sasuke wasnt in pain" and thats just wrong in so many levels. saying sasuke wasnt in pain is just stupid and a braindead take when all sasuke's rage and desire of revenge borns because of the pain he felt for losing his family and clan and later for finding out his whole life is a lie and itachi was a victim of konoha's brainwashing. by declaring sasuke isnt in pain through the story youre down playing his whole character when its because of that pain he does what he does and hes valid for lashing out and wanting revenge.
and that leads to another argument ppl pull "naruto had no right to get in sasuke's business because sasuke was right". now the thing is just because sasuke is right, doesnt mean naruto's actions are wrong. people are so used to read everything in bad or good, black and white that they simply cant see both sides having reasons to be act the way they do. yes, sasuke was right for wanting revenge and justice thats obvious, but naruto isnt a villain for going after sasuke because he wants him to stop hurting and indulging in self destructive behaviors because before anyone tells me sasuke wasnt doing that, he was.
sasuke was ready to let his body taken away if that means he gets his revenge (yeah he killed orochimaru later, but he even states is because orochimaru has already taught him all he needs and doesnt have more to offer him so he doesnt see point in giving his body). naruto as a person that cares for sasuke obviously wont want this to happen, so him trying chasing sasuke and begging him to leave orochimaru is not smth he does because he's selfish but because he doesn't want to lose him. naruto also has never tried to talk sasuke out of his revenge on itachi btw in fact the two first times naruto comes to face itachi, before the true comes out, naruto seems okay w the contrary happening; when 12 year old sasuke arrives that hotel to fight itachi, naruto doesnt try to intervene until he realizes sasuke isn't strong enough to win against itachi. then later when he meets itachi post skip, naruto literally says that he wants to capture itachi so he gets to talk w sasuke. (basically giving itachi as a gift to sasuke just to get an audience w him lol). naruto only starts to want to stop sasuke's revenge when his revenge shifts to konoha and again, is sasuke right for feeling the way he does? yes, of course he does. will killing everyone in konoha where there still innocent people be the answer? no, it isnt. genocide isnt the answer. maybe if sasuke wanted only his revenge on the elders and to change konoha, naruto's reaction there would've been different but well thats not what sasuke wanted there so naruto wanting to stop this isn't wrong of him. now to the final plan, sasuke's revolution aka last time naruto gets in his way and again its because he doesnt think his plan is right and most importantly because he doesnt want sasuke to destroy himself completely. sasuke's revolution idea was uniting the village by making everyone hate him, he wanted to cut his last bond to be alone and fall into darkness. now tell me, how does this sound healthy from any pov? sasuke is completely right from wanting to end the system that exists, but his way to do it is literally a plan that ends with him being miserable for all his life by being alone which is smth that naruto doesnt want to happen. thats why kishimoto made the entire vote2 be about sasuke wanting to end his last bond/naruto refusing to let sasuke do that.
so no, i dont think naruto's chasing after sasuke is just him being selfish and disregarding sasuke's feelings. yes naruto has made mistakes because hes not meant to be perfect but him genuinely caring for sasuke and wanting him to stop being in pain is not selfish.
#ty for the ask and really really sorry i couldnt make this shorter#also sorry for answering so late#this probably has a lot of typos but im lazy#ask

Memories
Pairing: Neji x Fem!Uchiha Reader
Summary: There are a lot of terrible things that have happened to you as an Uchiha that you wanted to forget. But with Nejiâs help, youâre able to move on and move along. Things have started getting better for you, however, once the Fourth Shinobi War was declared, time seemed to start running out.
Word Count: 2.1k
Memories - Part 1 | Deja Vu - Part 2
A/N: I didnât exactly follow the plot and somehow it turned so angsty đ Please let me know your thoughts~
There are memories you hold so dear that you refuse to have them tainted no matter what. Most of those memories are of the times you spent playing or training with your brother Shishui, his best friend Itachi, and Itachiâs brother Sasuke. Those times were the golden days for you; the best of the best, if you may.
Conversely, there are also memories that you just wish would disappear. Theyâre the memories of incidents you wish didnât happen at all. Theyâre the type of memories that you push at the back of your mind, because you believe that if you think about it or even spare a single second for it, then itâll be more real. Because youâre in denial. Youâre in denial not only about the death of Shisui, but also of the Uchiha clan.
But then thereâs a single memory you have that always stands out. Itâs a memory that you both want to forget and remember.
The tragedy of the Uchiha clan had changed the only survivors â you and Sasuke. You had already started changing a little because you had to deal with your brotherâs death, but seeing the horrible scene in the clanâs district had been the icing on top.
Your drastic change had been evident on the day you came back to the Academy after you were discharged at the hospital. What once was a girl full of life had become an empty shell.
The moment you sat down entered the room, people had started talking. Mostly itâs just about asking someone else if you were an Uchiha or if they know about the clanâs misfortune. They were meaningless chatters so you easily drowned them out.
But there was a comment that had reached your ears. âWhy is it such a big deal? People die anyway, it just so happened her clan died on the same day.â
The comment kept ringing inside your head but then someone beside you spoke up, âDonât you have anything else better to do than talk about someone elseâs life?â
He was met with silence so he continued saying, âPeople die everyday, itâs a fact. Some die because of illnesses, some because of old age, some because of poverty, accidents, or murder. As shinobi, we can die in the line of duty. But that doesnât make death any less painful to the one left behind.
âIf your family is alive, then good, but maybe use that brain of yours because logic says not everyone gets to be as lucky as you.â
Naturally, you want to forget about the unsolicited comment of your classmate, but you want to remember that among the students inside the room, one boy had stood up for you. Quite frankly, you needed his saving that day. Otherwise, you wouldâve beaten yourself up for mourning too long.
And when you realized who that boy was, his words weighed even more. Because Hyuga Neji was a boy notoriously known for thinking that everyoneâs fate is predetermined from birth and that luck plays absolutely no part in it.
âNot everyone gets to be as lucky as you.â
And for a hot minute he had abandoned his belief as he stood up for you.
It sounds hypocritical if you think about it.
But maybe just as he had saved you, you had opened his eyes just a little bit and helped him see that his beliefs were skewed too. In a way, you had helped each other, at least you hoped.
Itâs because of that day, that memory, that you find yourself gravitating towards Neji.
It isnât attraction at all at first, more like genuine curiosity about him and his life. But you didnât get to know him further until the Chunin exams where he had disclosed the way of their clan. Itâs at that time where you understood why he acts the way he acts.
You canât help but wonder about how two clans with almost similar circumstancesâ both with kekkei genkai, both living in Konoha, both considered to be one of the strongest clans in the shinobi worldâ could have completely different ways of living. One clan is almost completely annihilated, while the other has slaves of their own blood. And if youâre being completely honest, you arenât exactly sure which is better.
You have gotten the urge to talk to him after hearing his story, although you really didnât know what to say. But then the chance never came up because of the chaos orchestrated by Orochimaru.
After the Chunin exams and the attack of Orochimaru, you hadnât heard of Neji for a while since youâve been tasked to help with the repairs of the village. And when you did hear about him, it was terrible, terrible news.
Sasuke left the village to seek power from the very person who just wrecked havoc in Konoha. His leaving alone left you in despair. What Itachi was to Shisui is exactly what Sasuke means to you, and him doing such a thing without even letting you know makes you feel like a failure both as a friend and as a family.
The news didnât end there, however. Apparently the squad that Shikamaru had led to retrieve Sasuke had been severely injured and were on the brink of death â one of them being Neji.
You remember feeling guilt and regret burning your skin. You remember the shame of not being able to save Sasuke from the darkness and not being able to help the retrieval squad in any way. You blame yourself for the horrible things that happened.
Since then, you have made it a point to visit the squad in the hospital every day, making sure you apologize and thank them for their service. But admittedly, itâs Neji that you always stay with longer.
Itâs not that you arenât comfortable with the others, theyâre really nice and easy to get along with. But they always have other visitors with them, mostly their team members and relatives. Neji, on the other hand, didnât get as many visits since his other teammate, Rock Lee, was also injured because of his fight with Gaara. So Tenten and Guy sensei would switch visits between the two every other day.
Besides that, his clan members rarely ever visited. And you didnât want him to be alone in such trying moments, especially when you didnât get to do anything to prevent this from happening.
As closed off as Neji is, because of your constant visits, you have found a way to worm yourself into the walls he put up. And by the time heâs discharged from the hospital, you somehow became close friends.
From that moment on, you find yourself coming to Neji on times that youâre in despair and in doubt. You trust him enough to tell him your stories, worries, and fears because he doesnât judge you. And he does the same with you.
Neji listens when you want him to listen, and talks when you need him to talk. Heâs quite level headed and very much rational, and because of that he gives the best advice.
With him, you find yourself healing and growing. With you, he finds himself learning to forgive.
Neji easily makes you see things in a different way; a different light; a different perspective, and helps you become a better shinobi and a better person in general.
For you, Neji has such a comforting aura. While heâs sometimes cold and stoic around others, with you, he softens up. With you, heâs gentle; careful even. And itâs because of this that you find yourself admiring him more and more.
But before anything could happen â before you could even confess â the Fourth Shinobi War was declared.
Just like that, time seemed to start running out. And you have lost all hopes of being together with Neji as a lover rather than a friend.
The war is awful. Quite frankly, it overwhelmed you too much, too easily. The bodies lying on the floor with dried out blood reminded you of the massacre of the Uchiha clan. But the only person whoâs able to calm you down and help you move along is Neji.
The both of you fight side by side, always nearby Hinata in case she would need help. When the night comes and the enemies cease their attack, itâs your turn to talk Neji into relaxing a bit because heâs started straining his eyes from too much use. And because itâs you who asked and itâs you whoâs there with him, he knows he and the rest of the Allied Forces are safe, so he rests.
But somehow chaos ensues and in the middle of it, you both get separated. Youâre worried deeply, but you trust his skills and his strength, and you know youâll be reuniting with him again.
And reunited with him you did. But when you have found him once again, heâs blocking out the Ten Tailsâ attack with... his body.
With desperation, you transported to his side as quickly as you can. Summoning your last bits of chakra, you use Susanoo to protect him, Hinata, and Naruto. The last thing you remember is the look of relief on Nejiâs face, but before it could morph into worry, you have already blacked out.
By the time you have woken up, youâre in Konohaâs hospital. The first thing you see is Neji resting his head on the side of your bed, peacefully sleeping, looking as angelic as ever.
Your body aches with every breath you take, even more so with little movement. But you didnât let that deter you from weaving your fingers along the Hyugaâs hair. He stirs almost immediately and then he opens his pretty eyes. He sits up upon seeing you.
âIâm sorry, did I wake you up?â You softly ask.
He doesnât respond to your question. âYouâre awake,â he sighs in relief. âYouâre finally awake. Let me go call Lady Tsunade and Sakura.â He stands up.
But before he can even take a step, you grab his wrist. âStay,â you mumble.
Neji looks at you, reading your face. But then he nods and sits.
âIs it over?â You ask.
âYes, the warâs over.â
âWhat happened after?â
âItâs a long story⌠but tell me, how are you feeling?â
âIâm feeling fine. My body aches, but itâs not a big deal.â
âWhat do you mean itâs not a big deal?!â Neji looks upset that it takes you by surprise. âDo you remember what happened? Didnât you know you almost died?! You almost used up all your chakra to use Susanoo! Thatâs so stupid and reckless!â
His aggressive tone effectively gets you angry. âI did it for you!â You snap. âOf course I remember what happened! Even if I want to forget, the memory is branded in my mind! You fucking wanted to use your body to shield Naruto from that attack, didnât you? How is that not stupid and reckless? Huh?â
Nejiâs chakra flares up as he clenches his jaw. Yet, he doesnât speak.
You breathe out, trying to calm down. You rarely ever fought with Neji and heâs never really raised his voice to you. With your body still tired and aching from the war, you didnât want this conversation to escalate further so you try to diffuse the situation before it blows even more out of proportion.
In a low voice, you speak, âI was so scared, Neji. I didnât want to lose you. Iâve lost everyone Iâve ever loved.â
A tear falls down from your eye and Nejiâs heart breaks at your forlorn state. âI donât want to lose you too. I canâtâŚâ you squeak. âI love you so much, I canât lose you.â
Nejiâs breath hitches at your declaration. He could hear his heart drumming against his chest.
You love him?
He doesnât know if he heard you right or if his mind is just playing tricks on him. It happened before. Heâs loved you for so long⌠and there have been plenty of days he dreamt of hearing you say you love him too. And right now he isnât sure if this is the reality or just another one of his dreams.
As if youâve read his mind â like you always seem to be able to do â you repeat your words. âI love you, Neji.â
Itâs the confirmation that he needs. And hearing your words knocked the wind out of him. âI⌠IâŚâ he starts saying.
But youâve taken his stuttering and his pale, panic-stricken face as a sign of an incoming rejection, so you look down instantly and say, âItâs fine if you donât like me the same way. I just hope we can still be friends afterââ
âNo, I⌠I love you too,â he breathlessly confesses before you even finish your rambling.
Your head whips up after the words left his lips. You stare at him, unbelieving.
And just as you did a while ago, he repeats his words with conviction, âI love you too.â
A smile makes its way to your face, and when he smiles back, you immediately know this is a memory you wonât ever forget.

An alternate AU to this one that occurred to me just now
Team Seven take the mission to the Land of Waves. On the bridge, they fight Zabuza and Haku.
On the bridge, Naruto dies.
Something in Sasuke breaks, and he goes berserk. Haku and their ice mirrors scream as they flashboil in the black flames Sasuke summons forth, and it takes only a howl and a wild gesture to send Amaterasu blazing across the bridge to consume Zabuza and Tazuna as well. The stone melts underneath them, while Kakashi snatches up Sakura and flees, and itâs not until Sasuke feels the weight of wet clothes - crushing Narutoâs body to his chest, bloody and so absurdly hot - that he realises the bridge has disintegrated, and the water is burning.
Itâs instinct and desperation that let Sasuke to douse the fires heâs conjured, and even then it aches and tastes like blood and acid, and heâs sinking when Kakashi whips across the surface to catch him, the moment the flames are gone.
Sasuke cries into Narutoâs chest, and refuses to let go. Sakura is cold and silent, and she neither speaks nor eats for the grim, slow trek back to Konoha. And it is slow, even further drawn out by the constant fluctuation of chakra from Narutoâs corpse, carried awkwardly and painfully by Sasuke alone.
Itâs not Narutoâs chakra, of course. Kakashi dreads the inevitable questions, resolves not to lie when they come, and somehow their absence is even worse.
The moment they walk through the southern Konoha gate, there are Anbu all over them. They pry Narutoâs body from Sasukeâs arms, despite his shouting and kunai, despite the way Sasukeâs eyes ignite into blood red to fight-- But he doesnât summon Amaterasu again, doesnât expend the chakra he doesnât have to try and kill their own. Sakura touches his shoulder, just two fingers, and her face is pale and hollow when she shakes her head, but itâs still more interaction than sheâs allowed for the whole trip, and Sasuke obeys her. Blinks his eyes black, slumps in place, and then sags against Sakura.
She catches him, and heâs shaking, and she stares over his shoulder, unblinking, at the Anbu wrapping Narutoâs corpse in chakra-absorbing paper scrawled endlessly with Seals.
Kakashi isnât sure what she sees, and he isnât sure he wants to know.
One Anbu stays behind, and they instruct the gutted remains of Team Seven that the Hokage wants to see them. Kakashi canât bring himself to intervene when Sasuke snarls and lunges, or when Sakura lets him. Doesnât step in when Sasuke tells them to Fuck Off or when he punches them weakly in the chest - and the Anbu clearly thinks heâs simply not going to get involved, because when they try to catch Sasukeâs wrist they arenât expecting Kakashi to move. Too fast to be safe, too fast for the chakra use not to burn.
Sasuke leans back into Kakashi as the Anbu trips, and Kakashi feels himself close his hands on Sasukeâs shoulders. âDonât touch my kids,â he hears himself hiss, and if he doesnât quite know when he accepted them as his then he doesnât quite care either.
One of them is dead, and they wonât be permitted to mourn him properly because of the beast caged inside him without his knowledge.
The thought makes Kakashi sick. It all does, all of it. Konohaâs abuse of an innocent child, Kakashiâs complicitness in allowing it to happen. Hiruzenâs cruelty in allowing it also.
In allowing all of it.
Sasuke has lost enough.
The Anbu doesnât need telling twice, and they leave Kakashi to cajole his kids into seeing Hiruzen. It takes more effort than heâd care to admit. Just physically, the three of them are a wreck - and itâs worse emotionally. Mentally.
âYou let them take him.â
Itâs the first thing Sakura has said since Naruto died - in a burst of blood and scarlet chakra - and Kakashi suddenly thinks heâs never felt anything so cold as her voice. When he meets her gaze, itâs like drowning.
âI had to. The Hokage will explain.â Because Kakashi is bound not to. By an oath that maybe he shouldnât have taken, by a promise extracted by force. Why shouldnât he tell them?
He doesnât, of course. He scoops Sasuke up, and despises that Sasuke simply allows it, and offers Sakura a hand as they start walking. Sakura ignores it, striding ahead with her back too stiff and her hands clenched too tight. The walk to the Hokage Tower, while significantly shorter, is the same as the trip from Waves to Konoha.
Hiruzen ushers them into his office, tearful, and Sasuke struggles stiffly out of Kakashiâs grip. Red flickers and whorls through his eyes, and itâs impossible to know if heâs fighting to ignite his Sharingan or if heâs fighting not to.
âIâm sorry.â Itâs low and mournful and wet. Itâs insulting.
Sakura snaps. She flies into a rage, screaming obscenities. Her teammate is dead, and sheâs never experienced loss like this before, and gods but she watched it happen, and no pitiful, pathetic âIâm sorryâ can ever undo that. That Hiruzen even tries sends her over the edge.
Nobody stops her. By the time she burns out, the office is torn apart, papers scattered everywhere and the desk overturned. Sakura has scratched her nails bloody against the woodwork. When she collapses to the floor and howls, Sasuke finally approaches her, sinks to her level, and wraps his arms around her.
Perhaps he understands, then. Perhaps a hug - so tight as Sakura clings back that it may be the only thing holding her together - is all he wanted after the horror of his clanâs slaughter.
Kakashi catches himself wondering if Sasuke ever got that hug, but he knows the answer.
Of course he didnât.
Hiruzen explains to them what a Jinchuriki is. He explains the basic concept of a Bijuu, and gives them a short summary of the Nine-Tails. They take it blankly, too much to process over the top of their raw grief, but they look to Kakashi as if searching for confirmation and Kakashi nods. Tells them itâs true.
And then, because itâs not enough, itâs pathetic an explanation, he hears himself continue.
Because âHe deserved better. We failed him.â Hears it spin, feels more than sees the way Sasuke and Sakura twitch and shrink, and then corrects himself. His own voice is like tar in his throat.
âYou failed him.â
Sasuke and Sakura follow him out of Hiruzenâs office, and Hiruzen doesnât try to stop them.
Kakashi sets the pack to watch them when they all end up at the war memorial. It wasnât exactly a decision to go there, of course, but it never really is. All eight ninken are there already when they arrive, and they encourage Sakura and Sasuke to collapse and curl up with them, but Kakashi resists. He has something else to do.
And itâs dark by the time he comes back, his kids and his pack all bundled up in his far-too-tiny apartment, but he wakes them all the same. Demanding Narutoâs body back hadnât been easy or clean, and the results of the chakra-draining done to preserve as much of the stray Nine-Tails chakra bleeding out of where it had torn free upon Narutoâs death is... messy.
Narutoâs body stays wrapped up the way Kakashi walked out of the Anbu Blue Vault with it. Only his head is visible, and his hair is knotted and matted with blood and oil, but it doesnât stop Sakura from running her hands through it, or Sasuke from laying his head against Narutoâs chest.
Not enough people come to Narutoâs funeral. The whole fucking Village should mourn him, the child who protected them from the Nine-Tails for his entire, short life. His loss should have been overwhelming - it should have brought all of Konoha to a fucking stop.
But it doesnât. Umino Iruka attends, and heâs quiet but he weeps ceaselessly the whole day. Sakura and Sasuke seem to welcome his presence, so Kakashi doesnât nothing to discourage it.
Hiruzen shows up, perhaps halfway through. It takes all of Kakashiâs still-wan strength to hold Sakura back from trying to maul him, and Sasuke doesnât fight one way or another when he lights up his Sharingan at the Hokageâs approach.
âGo. Away,â Sasuke snarls at him, and for just a moment it seems like Hiruzen might scold the boy, whoâs been stripped of his family in half a dozen different ways, over and over again, as if heâs expressing his grief incorrectly, and that moment is all it takes for Kakashi to speak over all of them.
Itâs the voice he used as the Hound. He hasnât heard it for years. âYou should go, Hokage-sama. You donât want to make me choose a side here.â
Because Kakashi is loathe to fight Konoha at all, let alone its leader, but he knows without a doubt that he will. For Sasuke. For Sakura. If ever the decision must be made, Kakashi knows he will turn on Hiruzen in an instant if it would protect his kids from ending up like him.
Konoha would not make a broken blade out of Sasuke. It would not strip Sakura of her soul.
Orochimaru comes. He seeks out Sasuke, and the power he offers is too tempting for Sasuke to pass up - but he refuses to sneak away in the dead of night. Team Sevenâs progress has halted in the aftermath of Narutoâs death; Hiruzen has tried several times to full the gap in their unit, but Sakura and Sasuke vehemently refuse to accept one, and Kakashi does not make them. He will not.
Naruto cannot be replaced. The gap can never be sufficiently filled.
And so comes the morning that Sasuke asks for their company in leaving. Heâs been suffocating under Konohaâs weight for a long time, Kakashi realises that morning, and heâs finally reached his limit. Kakashi doesnât try to talk him out of it; he wonât succeed. Thereâs no point. Revenge has been his motivation for so long that Sasuke will never quite learn how to give it up, and now he has so much more for which to seek vengeance.
It will only be Itachi first. After that, all of Konoha is culpable for Narutoâs death, and the endless suffering he endured before it. Kakashi is not fool enough to think he can change Sasukeâs mind.
Sakura agrees on the spot. Sheâs unrecognisable from the bubbly genin Kakashi took custody of from the Academy. Sheâs gaunt and messy and angry, and sheâs forsaken her friends in order to follow Sasuke into the dark. Sheâs clinging to him, ferociously, in a different way than sheâd tried to before.
Sheâs clinging to Sasuke the same way Kakashi had clung to Rin - how Rin had clung right back - after Obitoâs death. Sasuke is her constant, her reassurance that Narutoâs absence wonât just be for nothing, that someone is going to pay for it. That sheâs going to help make that happen.
You donât want to make me choose a side, Kakashi had told Hiruzen, as if they were words of fucking prophecy. Because here are his kids, minds made up, choosing a side that Kakashi would rather flay himself than join - and yet, here he is too, and he knows already heâs going to go with them.
Choosing against Konoha tastes like ozone and fear and self-loathing, but choosing against Sasuke and Sakura is unconscionable. Even this, even this, Kakashi will do. Watching them die is a terror that keeps him up at night, a nightmare with its hands around Kakashiâs throat, a dread thatâs getting ever colder. That this might lead to that outcome takes his breath away.
But the thought of not being there is even worse. Konoha forsook Sasuke when his family was wiped out, and Konoha forsook them both once again when they came home bloodied and shattered. Konoha has gone on the same as always, as if nothing even happened, and it always has when the whole world was supposed to shatter and didnât - with Obitoâs eye in Kakashiâs skull and Rinâs blood on Kakashiâs hands - and that truth does absolutely nothing to stay Sasukeâs hatred or Sakuraâs wrath. They are young and angry and wounded, and there is no words Kakashi can say that will convince them to reject the power on offer, no matter how dangerous and untrustworthy the source may be.
And he refuses to let them do this alone. Everyone will want their heads, but Kakashi has fought and killed the best of them, and if - in the end - his only purpose is to protect his remaining kids, where he failed to protect the third, then perhaps the Hound yet serves a purpose still.
So Kakashi selects a kunai, and helps them score through their Konoha hitai-ite, and lets them lead him into hell.

is that meant to be an excuse
the WAY kakashi turns his back on the eldest and most highly-ranked officials in the village
and then he up and walks out of the room while koharu is in the middle of her next sentence
literally he just - walks out.  he doesnât excuse himself or say goodbye or bow. he doesnât even let her finish speaking.  he leaves while sheâs in the middle of talking and then shuts the door in her face. Â
file this next to âkakashi faces down orochimaruâ in the drawer of kakashiâs most badass moments. the level of disrespect kakashi broadcasts here is staggering - in no way would his behavior during this conversation be considered acceptable by anyone who doesnât understand the context, but he isnât just being an arrogant little shit for no reason, and this isnât simply a right-wing/left-wing philosophy clash, either.  kakashi just learned all the dirty details about the uchiha massacre. he knows what these two did. Â
even though kakashi is the one who reminds naruto (rightly) that they canât just unquestioningly accept any story madara uchiha tells them, he acts this way with the councilors here because deep down, he believes what heâs been told. he canât say anything about it until he has proof, and heâs too smart to act on information that could still be a lie intended to destabilize the Leafâs rebuilding efforts, but heâs clearly been thinking about it ever since madara appeared in the Land of Iron, and we can see here that ultimately, after doing his own internal analysis, the conclusion heâs drawn is that madara was probably telling them the truth. however shocking and impossible a state-sponsored genocide + subsequent cover-up may have sounded to kakashi at first (and however much he may not have wanted to entertain the possibility of it having occurred), he suspects that madaraâs information is true.  he thinks this is probably what happened.
itâs not a conclusion he draws without cause, i donât think.  i imagine that for kakashi, this revelation feels more like a blurry picture coming into focus, as if heâs finally received the key to decrypting something that never made sense to him. iâm watching this show for the first time, so there are some things iâm not clear on, but my impression is that kakashi knew itachi through ANBU before the uchiha massacre went down, and if that were the case, then i can only imagine how incomprehensible his crimes must have seemed at the time, to people who were familiar with him - it must have sounded impossible.  but kakashi and everyone else just had to accept itachiâs sudden turnaround as the reality, because impossible as it seemed, there was no alternative explanation for what happened.
but now, though - kakashiâs not stupid.  he is, per narutoâs own words, smarter than shikamaru.  as soon as madara uchiha presents him with a different possibility, things that never made sense before start to fall into place.  all the incomprehensible puzzle pieces that never fit together finally start to make sense within a bigger picture. sasukeâs survival.  itachi being careless enough to let himself be spotted and accosted in the hidden leaf before he could get anywhere near naruto.  danzo sending sai to assassinate sasuke without tsunadeâs knowledge or permission.  saiâs curse mark.  the report gaara gives kakashi about the five kage summit (where danzo was discovered to have stolen shisui uchihaâs sharingan eye).  and this -
kakashi canât act without proof, but he knows. Â he knows itâs true. Â for the first time in years, things actually feel like they make sense. Â and now, in this episode, heâs supposed to report to these two councilors as if he doesnât know that they aided and abetted in a genocide against sasukeâs people, coerced a child into murdering his own community, covered the whole thing up, and are currently trying to get rid of the evidence by having sasuke assassinated?
kakashi canât say anything yet, but he is coldly furious. Â that narrowed eye says everything. Â he knows he has to keep his mouth shut, because technically this could all still be a fabrication, and even if itâs not a lie, tipping his hand too soon could prompt the destruction of any evidence that might eventually enable this crime to be proven and dragged into the light, but the way he slaps these elders with disrespect here speaks volumes. Â the cold contempt in his voice, the way he turns his back to them, the way he walks out of the room while theyâre in the middle of a sentence - is that meant to be an excuse?
a reminder, for perspective: kakashi just returned from a confrontation where he thought he was going to have to kill his own kid because sasuke was so unbalanced by rage and pain and grief that he felt irresistibly compelled to destroy everything and everyone in his path, and now kakashi is supposed to just sit here and be deferent to the people who started this whole ball rolling years and years ago, back when sasuke and itachi were both just innocent children?Â
no. Â he shows them his back. Â he shuts the door in their faces. Â he does everything except flat-out tell them âi know what you did,â and while they may not know exactly why heâs behaving like this, they definitely know that the new hokage isnât interested in any of their âadvice.â
one other thought before i wrap this up: kakashi is the LAST person these two would ever have wanted to find out about their misdeeds.  heâs not some isolated child coming apart at the seams who can be discredited and eliminated - heâs one of the most renowned and respected jonin in their village (in ALL the villages of the shinobi world, in fact). heâs also not distant enough from the situation to brush off these accusations as nothing more than rumor - heâs too intimately connected to the uchiha, to sasuke, to itachi, to obito, to the legacy of a dead community and the rightful inheritance that he carries inside his own body.  and most importantly of all, heâs not indoctrinated enough to accept whatever cold, shinobi-code calculations these people would try to use to justify their decision. Â
kakashi doesnât care if the shinobi code says the extermination of the uchiha clan was an acceptable loss. doing the right thing in defiance of the shinobi code was young!kakashiâs entire character arc. he used to be the âfall in lineâ kid, because he thought following the rules could protect him from pain, but after his friend teaches him a better way to be, he chooses to upend his entire life and reinvent himself in that friendâs image. kakashi has remodeled himself after rulebreakers - specifically, people who refused to sacrifice the lives of others for the sake of a nebulous âgreater good,â despite societyâs rigid demands that they do so.  one of those people was his own father, a man who was crucified and ultimately destroyed by the culture he rejected, and the other was obito uchiha - a member of the same clan that danzo and the Leaf administration chose to sacrifice for the so-called âgreater goodâ of the community. Â
kakashi will never accept any excuses for that.  he will never give the administration a free pass on slaughter, even slaughter for the sake of a future âpeace.â the entire foundation upon which heâs built his post-obito philosophy is that you canât sacrifice others for the sake of your mission, not even if the rules say it must be done.  you can give up your own life, yes.  but you NEVER offer up somebody elseâs. itâs not a right or worthy thing to do, and it never creates a lasting peace - as weâre seeing right now, with sasukeâs retribution.
when you get right down to it, kakashi is this administrationâs worst nightmare. i am really looking forward to the day he and sasuke and yamato and naruto can finally blow this conspiracy wide open.
#long post#this whole thing had me remembering how kakashi talked to kakuzu before killing him#that whole speech he makes about how he and the kids are the new generation and the old generation's time is over#'it's no wonder you see us as brats. but it cuts both ways.'#'to our eyes you're just an old geezer whose time is over.'#and so here you are - dying. hugging the earth like a worm.'#'one by one the new generation will catch up to you'#'and in the end they'll surpass you.'#the village elders are in the same situation#their time is done#the new generation IS catching up to them#all of their sins are going to be exposed#and the old way of doing things is going to be dumped and recognized for what it is - evil#can't wait to see that happen honestly#naruto#pan watches naruto#meta#i got lost on the path of life

the huge shippuden music meta
no one asked for this but iâm gonna write it anyway. iâm going to focus primarily on the shippuden soundtrack here, but expect some references to the original series soundtrack as well. also before i begin i know approximately two (2) music so some of my terminology is probably going to be incorrect lol, itâs been a while since college. this is a general shippuden meta but it does focus on the uchiha clan, in particular sasuke and madara.
anyway, to start off, you can pretty easily divide the shippuden soundtrack into a few general categories:
traditional and/or acoustic
electric guitar tracks
some combination of these, plus orchestra hits aplenty
there are a few odd ducks here and there, but no worries, weâll get to them. and then within these general categories we have a series of recurring character motifs (which can be a bit muddled, because certain themes are used for multiple characters. i assume that naruto (the show) isnât necessarily scored the way a film would be, and so the directors just slapped whatever dramatic/sad/upbeat music they could find onto a scene, esp if itâs a filler ep, which definitely generates some confusion.) but characters and groups in shippuden DO sort of get their own motifs and themes, so here is my very basic list of those as well:
uzumaki clan and its descendants/allies: âemergence of talents/hyakkaryĹranâ has a very cool melody towards the end that comes back in ânarukami/weeping godâ and âshoryu/rising dragonâ. we can basically call this the protagonist theme. naruto, sakura, kakashi, jiraiya, most of the konoha 11, and even minato get to claim this one. however, VERY interestingly, narukami is what plays when tobi (as madara) is telling sasuke about the glory days of the uchiha clan... possibly hinting at greater connections between the two clans???????????
akatsuki-related themes: i wonât link a ton of these because theyâre super obvious. theyâre often full of choir and organ (harkening back to orochimaruâs original series theme); they also tend to be slower. not always, though; look at crimson flames, a slapper if i ever heard one. prime example of akatsuki themes: girei, my FAVORITE bit of the shippuden soundtrack. UGH.
general shippuden themes: things like hurricane suite, heaven-shaking event, etc. most of the first ost goes in here. this category also contains the closest approximation to hashiramaâs theme that i could find, experienced many battles and departure to the front lines, which both make me cry lol
there are other fun little motifs and bits and bobs that appear in this soundtrack that i wonât get into here for length (remind me to talk about the angelic herald of death sometime), but itâs a remarkably cohesive piece of work to the point where it gets repetitive sometimes; why are all the super interesting tracks unreleased!!!!??? anyway the purpose of this meta is to attempt to make sense of the way this soundtrack works. weâll investigate sasuke primarily because i feel that he really ties the whole soundtrack together, and you can extrapolate a lot from the way his theme evolves.
sasukeâs theme (wandering/hyouhaku), yes the dramatic cowboy music theme, is this wonderfully atmospheric track that makes use of the kind of negative space between guitar strums to build up this aura, this Essence of Sasuke. this alone makes it stand apart from other mostly-acoustic pieces on the soundtrack, to me. the whole thing is just humming with this simmering frustration and melancholy and it really gives you a sense of sasuke as this tortured figure who has been severely wronged and experienced the worldâs faults firsthand. notably, this version of sasukeâs theme lifts its opening notes (and structure, sorta) from sasukeâs original series theme, which i assume was on purpose. it shows that heâs grown jaded as he got older, i think.
anyway, as the inevitable battle between sasuke and itachi draws closer, we get our first variation on sasukeâs theme: black spot/kokuten. it has the same melody and structure as before, but features heavier guitars, more orchestration, and, in the final bars, notes that previously fell on 1 and 4 but now fall on 1 and 3, which bring a heightened sense of urgency to the whole thing. and more importantly, it ends without resolving itself? it leaves us hanging on this almost call-and-response bit with one wailing guitar after another, before winding the orchestration down and fizzling back down to the level of âwandering.â here we see a sasuke in progress, if you will, working towards a goal that some may find sinister, but he is determined if nothing else, and the instruments match his fervor. itâs roughly analogous to âcrimson flamesâ in terms of intensity, but itâs very distinctly Sasuke.
there are several more variations of sasukeâs theme floating around, but the next one i want to talk about is this one called âsasukeâs ninja way,â apparently, never officially released but relentlessly employed by the anime directors. it takes a more subtle turn than âblack spot,â but i donât see it as a direct sequel to âwanderingâ for a few different reasons. i think it represents the dilemma sasuke found himself after finally killing itachi and learning the truth about him: the realization that this whole quest for power of his was never really about revenge on one specific person, but rather about reforming the shinobi world as a whole. itâs slower than âblack spot,â yet darker, more ominous; it treads the same general path as âwanderingâ but with added electric guitar, and, notably, choir. recall that choir is often used for themes related to the akatsuki, which i think ties in neatly with sasukeâs motivations at this point. he, like nagato before him, wants to remake the world.
the final iteration of sasukeâs theme, âsasukeâs revolution/junkyousha,â brings it all together. the akatsuki is commonly represented through choir and organ, and this theme starts out with both of these cranked up to the max. this is (pardon the pun) sasukeâs rebirth, if you will. just combine the intensity of âgirei,â the anger of âcrimson flames,â and the determination of âemergence of talentsâ and youâre there. seriously: this culmination of sasukeâs character development basically pulls from every single facet of the soundtrack and produces this MASSIVELY rich piece full of anger and rage and hate and fury, while STILL managing to include the twangy guitar bits from âwanderingâ (which have gone back to 1 and 4!!). we also have someone going ham on a shamisen towards the end of the track, which calls to mind the shamisen solo from âemergence of talentsâ and other tracks. hinting at an eventual compromise with naruto, possibly?
anyway, i started out this meta trying to find a piece of the soundtrack that could serve as madaraâs theme, but i wasnât sure that one existed. i think the susanoâo has a theme, and the uchiha clan has a theme, but....madara just doesnât?? sure there are unreleased tracks like âlegendary uchiha,â but iâd argue that doesnât really go into his character as much as it just says âwatch out for this fucking guy.â
but then i listened to hurricane suite one more time, and i was like HOLY SHIT THIS IS IT. for one thing, itâs long as fuck: this track is a whole journey. it really gives the impression of someone who has lived an impossibly long life and become jaded and cruel and hardened. i realize that the argument could be made that hurricane suite is sasukeâs theme, not madaraâs, or that itâs a general shippuden theme and doesnât represent one character in particular. and yes, i think both of these interpretations are correct. hurricane suite represents what sasuke could POTENTIALLY turn out to be, given his evolution from âwanderingâ to âblack spotâ to âsasukeâs ninja wayâ all the way to âsasukeâs revolution.â hurricane suite warns us that sasuke can (and very well may!) make the same mistakes madara did and end up destroying himself in the process. (the middle of âhurricane suiteâ GREATLY resembles âwandering.â) and recall that hurricane suite is used in the very first episode of shippuden: the episode where naruto encounters sasuke for the first time, AND- are you ready for this- when madaraâs name is dropped for the first time in the series.
this is why i think that, along with it being a general shippuden theme, hurricane suite is also madaraâs theme. shippuden as a whole is practically suffocating under the oppressive weight of madaraâs presence, right from the very first episode. even before heâs introduced, he is VERY much there. so much of madaraâs character is established before he even shows up. we hear so much about him from other characters (kurama, itachi, obito, hashirama), and as such our view of madara changes drastically over the course of the series. and guess what plays when itachi shows sasuke that genjutsu of madara stealing izunaâs eyes?
anyway, in my opinion and in my interpretation of the character, the music fits him perfectly. it starts out all low and choral with these slow ominous drums and deep strings, and this violin comes in that sounds like itâs weeping. we hear something like a heartbeat that grows darker over time, before the music comes to some sort of resolution, an inflection point, and the brass comes in heavy. NOW weâre dealing with the orchestra, three quarters of the way into the song, and weâve got strings and drums set to a marching pace, more choral chanting, climbing strings and shamisen tumbling down the scales. it sounds like grief!!
and note that yes, this track is used in the very first episode of shippuden, during naruto and sasukeâs first encounter. but it is ALSO used during the scene in hashiramaâs flashback when izuna is mortally wounded and madara makes the decision to abandon the clan on the battlefield to take care of him, despite his better judgment and hashiramaâs offering of peace. the inflection point in the music represents a very real inflection point in madaraâs life: the loss of his last brother. (it always comes back to that, doesnât it.)

Inner Turmoil
Chapter 1 - His Guilt, Her Yearning
FFN | AO3
Sakura waited with Naruto for Kakashi. He was always late. She smiled as she shook her head and sighed.
"It's been 20 minutes now! He's never this late." Naruto groaned, his impatience more than apparent.
She nodded in agreement, but said nothing.
"Hey⌠Sakura." He remembered something Hinata had told him. Her teal eyes turned to face him. "Hinata mentioned something to me, and don't be mad at her, because I'm happy for you!" He beamed suddenly and she raised an eyebrow.
The messy head blonde looked around them before speaking and even kept a hushed tone. "She told me that you and Kakashi⌠Had a moment, you could say." He giggled mischievously at the finish of his statement.
Sakura's heart sank at the reminder. "I guess you could call it thatâŚ" She sighed. "We were drunk. He cut it off before it gotâŚ" She turned away as her cheeks tinted pink at the memories surfacing in her mind.
"I've seen the way you look at him lately, Sakura." Naruto's voice was tender, and he placed a hand over hers on the bar of Ichiraku's. "And don't fool yourself into thinking it was just lust. Kakashi may be a closet pervert, but he'd never hurt you."
Sakura looked up at Naruto sky blue eyes, which were filled with seriousness. "Thank you, Naruto."
"You should tell him. He'll never tell you how he feels first. Especially with how closed off he isâŚ" Naruto laughed. "And don't forget, it would probably be considered scandalous. A former sensei developed feelings for one of his students he taught who is 14 years younger than himself."
Sakura's face only darkened in the now cherry tint, but remembered the comfortableness the other jounin seemed to have that night. "I don't think it seems as scandalous to at least other ninjaâŚ" She said quietly, and then told the whole story of that night to him.
"Sakura, go find him. Really! You shouldn't give up before it even starts! I'm gonna go find Hinata. She's probably training with Hanabi!" His eyes lit up at the thought of her.
"Wait⌠Does it even shock you? At all? And today is the day Sasuke left, of all days to think about this..."
"Sakura, it makes me happy to see you finally able to move on. It will hurt us forever, but we have to stop letting it stop our lives, you know?" He grinned sadly. "I still will get him to come back one day because he's our best friend. But that won't change because your feelings have."
She nodded. "I guess you're right."
"And besides, if there's anyone I would ever believe you're safe with, its our old, porn reading sensei!" And with that he strode off toward the Hyuga complex.
She walked through the village, having a decent idea where she would find Kakashi, especially on a day like today.
Her stomach twisted with nervousness. Ever since he touched her with such need, and expressed such⌠Protectiveness, but also possessiveness over her, the thought of him gave her butterflies. She's had feelings for him for awhile now. She knew she loved him, but really, never thought he would love her. Some of the reasons Naruto brought up rang through her mind. Did the age really matter if she was an adult now, twenty years old? She'd been a ninja for seven years.
Even though Kakashi was closed off and flippant; Indifferent most times, they had moments where he was tender towards her. And he had saved her from Sasuke. The memory caused an ache in her chest, all those motions happening so fast around her. Mixed feelings bubbling up, regret she hesitated. Regret she even thought of killing him. Grateful Kakashi had been there. Her heart swelled at the fact that he had followed her, knowing her well enough to know what she had been doing.
She looked up at the sky and smiled at how beautiful it was. She was coming onto the memorial now, and she could see the silhouette of the man she loved so much now, but was scared of being rejected. Seeing him, it seemed impossible to even start the conversation of that night. They had been going on like it never happened. She was glad he didn't distance himself, but she hated that it was almost forgotten. Did he wish for her touch at night like she wished for his?
Approaching him, but not close enough to be sensed just yet, she stopped to stare at the somber man, his head hung low. She found him like that near the memorial stone often.
The sun was becoming visible along the horizon, reminding her it was a shock Naruto had even woke up for such an early breakfast. The sky was swirling with orange, blue, and pink hues. A breeze came and went, just light enough to rustle his clothing. It was a beautiful scene, stark in comparison to figure of silver haired nin standing within it.
I should've done something more for Sasuke, I was supposed to help him.
Silver strands fell loosely around the seasoned ninja's hitai-ate as his gaze fell from the sky and back to the memorial stone. It stood there as it always did, solemn and low. Too many of his own already engraved into the black rock, the reason he came here in all of his free time. How long before the list grows? Will his name be there before his younger genin he trained? If that's what he wants to call it, anyway. Will it be his fault that their names are there?
"What have I actually done for them?" He scoffed out loud. "Can they really defend themselves from Sasuke if they had to?"
I failed them, just like Rin and Obito.
The copy nin gently ran his hand across those two names on the memorial stone. His eyes slid close as he grieved once more silently, feeling the survivor's guilt all over again. The guilt of not being able to love her like Obito had loved Rin; like Rin had loved himself. No matter how many times he came here to make sure at least someone remembers them, it never went away. He sat staring at the memorial stone forever; Only time knows how much time he has spent in this spot.
This pain never goes away, it only dulls. It worsens, having a set of guilt for each person in his life.
What of Naruto? Sometimes I wonder if they purposely put the son of the fourth hokage on the team of his student. However, he has run off, and found a different sensei. Little to the young ninja's knowledge, he was taught his own father's jutsu, by his father's sensei, that Jiraiya. It's kind of beautiful, but shadowed in sadness. His shoulders hunched over. Maybe it's more fitting, considering how much they have in common. But he got through to Naruto better. My own sensei, his father. What would he think of me? Barely able to get them to even work together as genin, let alone giving them any new skills. I taught Sasuke one jutsu and he tried to use it on a comrade, his own teammate.
He scoffed. "They had been doing so well until those days during their chunin exams, that stupid curse mark from Orochimaru. All those missions, I really thought they had finally learned to be a team." He mused aloud somberly. "But Sasuke⌠His pride and revenge were still too much. One taste of power, and that was it took to remind him. Not to mention that encounter he had with Itachi going after the Nine Tails, and shrugging him off..."
And as for Sakura⌠He looked up at the trees, her own namesake blooming at this time of year. He shook his head. He taught her nothing really. He had tried to offer her comfort in those times, but after Sasuke was gone, she had known things weren't going to be okay. And he wasn't exactly good at comfort anyway. But that was when she really started to grow. After those five came back, all nearly dead besides that Nara kid from Asuma's squad, something in her changed, and she stopped being helpless. She always had the knowledge and the chakra control especially, but she was still a typical girl until then.
She went under the wing of the fifth hokage, soon becoming one of Konoha's strongest medic nin, and not just in her chakra. That girl packs a punch these days and he was glad he was never the one in front of it, apart from the second bell test. None of those skills were by his doing however. Offhandedly, the thought of her brought on a more recent memory, one with a tad of shame and regret, as well as longing but he tried to shake it away. He couldn't think of that right now, there was enough things to torture his conscience in front of him on a black stone.
But those thoughts addled his mind still. The feel of her in his arms, so intimately. He refused to drink since that night a couple weeks ago. Stupid, stupid, how could he have let that happen. However, it seemed like it hadn't changed things between them, and he was beyond grateful. He couldn't imagine losing her, even though he really kept her at arms length, just barely letting her graze the surface of his guard.
The thought of losing her, of her rejection, is what kept him from exposing that he had some kind of affection for her. Not to mention the shame that really came with it. She was so young compared to him, and so innocent still. She had seen some, but nothing like the darkness he had. And⌠For goodness sake, he used to be her sensei. The inappropriateness, even if neither her nor Naruto had referred to him as such for some time to mention her heart is our for Sasuke, even after everything he was sure that hadn't changed. He shook his head of all thoughts related to feeling anything besides camaraderie or friendship for the pink haired kunoichi. Besides, really he'd already failed her, nor he or Naruto have been successful in bringing back the man she loves so muchâŚ
The pain felt fresh as ever, but really it had been five years ago that Sasuke left. The ninja who were genin at the time, are now all roughly 19 or 20. He still held the burden, feeling it was his fault. He remembered the talk they had, having tied Sasuke to a tree with wire. He really thought he had gotten through to him that night. He should have watched him more closely. He should have been there when he was leaving instead of Sakura. He should have gone after him before it was too late. He should have been there for Naruto and Sakura after everything.
His thoughts stood still as he continued to look at the names on the stone. He was always filled with regret, for those living and dead. For such a strong, infamous ninja, he had lost so much, made so many mistakes. Like killing Run with his own chidori, granted it was really suicide, he'll never forget his own jutsu killed his best friend, after promising the Uchiha to take care of her. Like teaching Sasuke the chidori jutsu. Neglecting Sakura and Naruto during the days of Team Seven. For favoring him. He felt he had been a joke of sensei.
Naruto and Sakura never blamed him for Sasuke the way he blames himself. But he blamed himself for everything didn't he?
Just then, he sensed someone's presence, interrupting his reverie. He didn't bother to look behind him. The soft steps told him exactly who it was, as well as the soft scent of jasmine being carried on the breeze. She often knew where to find him, of course really anyone did.
She was closer now, just behind him at his left side. She delicately placed her right palm on his left shoulder, her slender finger tips gripping the fabrics of his vest.
"Kakashi, you missed breakfastâŚ" The feminine voice rang in his ears as he saw pink strands blow into his view.
He slowly raised his right hand to lay over her left. This kind of touch was normal for them, even as it was platonic, or so they told themselves. But this time he wanted more than that. He wanted her close to him, in his arms. "I knowâŚ" He sighed.
Lifting his head to look at the aqua hues filled with concern, he gently squeezed her hand. "Today is the day he leftâŚ"
"I knowâŚ" She squeezed his hand back. "We all know. But it wasn't your fault. He won't stop, not until he kills Itachi⌠Not until he feels like he has avenged his family." He still kept silent.
Sakura's mind wandered a bit then. She was really trying to get the courage to tell a different man that she loved him, on the day the man she used to love had left her. She shook her head, there was nothing wrong with moving on, this day didn't change anything for Sasuke, so why should it for herâŚ
She watched Kakashi closely for a moment. He looked haunted, like he normally did when she found him here, if she could find anything emotion that wasn't hidden by his mask. But over the years you learn how to find it other ways, like the way his hair is hanging off to the side instead of spiked upwards, or how he looks at the ground and the cheery sarcasm is gone.
She shifted her gaze to the names on the memorial now. She only knew the third hokage and her teammate's mentor, Jiraiya. Her heart clenched for the hokage, and then for Jiraiya who everyone held dear, especially Naruto and Tsunade. She was thankful in that moment to still have Kakashi, Iruka, and Tsunade alive. She recognized other names, such as the fourth hokage, Naruto's father.
"Do you think they're disappointed in me" Kakashi spoke softly now.
She glanced at him a moment, taken aback by the question. He never opened up like this. It was sort of odd, but she smiled slightly. How could anyone ever be disappointed in him, the great Copy Ninja, son of the White Fang, who has copied over a thousand jutsu, and saved many lives including her own.
"No, I don't. There's nothing you've done they could look down on." She chuckled a tiny bit. "Except for maybe those dirty little books you enjoy reading, however I'm sure Jiraiya would be far from disappointed."
His eye creased a bit at the mention of the orange binded books, now forever coveted for more than their content. He reached out his free hand, knowing exactly where the sage's name was engraved and grazed his fingertips over the writing.
"And before you say it, you never failed Naruto and I. You made us tough, and made us see past our judgements of each other. Or, rather my thoughts of how much an idiot he was. You made us learn to work together, as a team. So I believe the fourth, who was your sensei if I remember correctly, would be very proud of you."
Why was he talking about things? He never talked about things, he just buried it in his thoughts at the memorial. He moved away a moment. The pain resurfacing at the thought of being close with someone again, being able to experience more and more of that pain. But really, he wanted to be close with her. It should just so⌠Painful. Painful to let someone in, to let someone become worth enough to him to destroy him is they left or diedâŚ
What if she didn't want this? Or, nothing more than this rather? He couldn't lose her by scaring her away with his feelings... But she made it so easy to talk, to be him, she never expected anything else. She made it so easy to love her without realizing it before it was too late... Was it really worth the risk?
As he shuffled away, she watched him. He seemed closed back up, just as he usually was. Indifferent. Her hand felt cold now, where his touch had been. Something in her sank a little.
"How does your eye feel today?" She asked softly, changing the subject. She didn't want their interaction to end yet. She watched him closely, trying to read into what might be going through his mind, he almost looked scared as he backed off, but what could he have been scared of?
Kakashi turned his gaze back to her, dropping his hand from the stone. "It's felt betterâŚ" He admitted.
Her and Tsunade know of the pain he goes through daily from the sharingan, after the mission he overused it. It's gotten worse since then. It's more difficult to use it now. Tsunade had only just healed it, upon her direct order, last week. He hated hospitals. He even disliked being healed, the feeling of someone else's chakra seeming rather intimate in his opinion. He didn't feel his eye needed to be healed often, as it wasn't fixed, just relief. But Tsunade insisted that he needs to be at full capacity and that pain only wears down ninja over time. There was no arguing with the medic sannin. But whenever it was Sakura who offered the kind gesture, he never tried to argue. There was no point with arguing with her either, but he didn't mind the intimacy with her he supposed. Just one more he was slowly letting the walls down around her.
"Come on, let me heal it." Sakura urged, taking a step closer to him again.
"Let's go back to my place." He motioned around, noting the sun was fully up now, and daylight was out fully. "You know how the light causes discomfort to itâŚ"
She nodded and they fell into step walking back to his apartment. The village went on about their daily lives, some gazing with respect at any passing ninja. It didn't take long to get to the jounin's small apartment. He shuffled for his keys and unlocked the bolt, the click being audible in the comfortable silence.
They had passed Asuma and Kurenai on the way. They watched with interest and she fought down the blush as her and Kurenai made eye contact, and the brown hair kunoichi smiled encouragingly at her. Oh no, they know⌠Of course they know. It wasn't like she hadn't been an open book that night! Asuma seemed to be watching Kakashi intently like he was trying to relay some sort of message, but he hadn't been looking at the dark haired man to notice. They passed on without further acknowledgement.
She'd seen his room a few times in the past. But not since a couple weeks ago, the memory causing her cheeks to flush slightly pink.
"Make yourself at home, I'll start some coffee." He strode inside with her following close behind.
She stepped inside and took in the surroundings once again. It was such a simple apartment. A kitchen and living room, only separated by the change of old worn tile or stringy red carpet on the floor. There was a faded loveseat in the middle of the living room, with a wooden coffee table placed in front of it. By the window on the far side of the living room, stood a short book shelf with his Icha-Icha novels as well as some other literature. On top of the shelf, two frames were poised, Team Minato and Team Seven. She strode over to them, taking the one of Team Seven in her hands, as she always did when she came here.
Her hair was still long here, Naruto and Sasuke on either of her with Kakashi behind them. The two boys were glaring at each other while she smiled happily. Kakashi has his signature eye crease, a hand on each of the boys' heads. She loved this picture so much, having her own copy at her house. Naruto had one too. Sometimes she wondered if Sasuke still had his somewhere. A sad smile spread across his lips.
Kakashi watched her intently. The pink haired kunoichi always went straight for that photo whenever she came to his place, the few times she had. Over the years, the way she stared at it would change.
She used to hold it so tight in her fingers, he feared the glass pane would break, and he slowly slid it from her grasp and set it back on the shelf. That was the first time he ever embraced her. She was 15. She sobbed into his shoulder. Naruto was there and he wrapped his arms around them as well. His face buried into her hair, and he could tell by the rise of the genin's shoulders, he had been crying with her. He whispered his promise to bring Sasuke back once again then. Kakashi was never the comforting type, but they seemed to just appreciate him being there. They were only supposed to be in his apartment a moment that day, he just wanted the next volume of his series. However, they stood there like that a long time in that moment.
She had looked at it haunted. When she was still in the shock of Sasuke trying to kill her, multiple times. He remembered that all too vividly, her being saved by team seven multiple times. But that had passed, and she now just held the picture with somber acceptance as she does now.
He walked over, two cups of coffee in his hands and sat on the couch, gently placing them on the coffee table. Hearing the cup land softly on the wood, she set the frame down. She moved to sit next to him on the loveseat, taking the warm cup between her fingers.
Memories, less tragic ones, slinked back to his consciousness. They were tinged with the effects of a little too much sake, and a tad of regret. Still since that night, he would still notice her even more than before. Even now, she had her long, toned legs crossed. Her medic skirt splayed about her thighs, the shorts under them tight to her skin. The curve of her lips around the rim of the coffee cup as she took a sip. The way her short hair just barely brushed her neck, which he remembered the skin there being soft and sweet tasting. Or becoming intoxicated by the scent of her jasmine perfume. He still remembers the touch of her slender fingers against his bare skin.
He hated that he noticed it, that he couldn't stop noticing it. It felt wrong, he had been her teacher just seven years ago, give or take. He was fourteen years older than her. Why didn't none of that stop him from noticing the way she licked the coffee off her lips? Or secretly love when she healed him, instead of Tsunade. He felt like a creep. Just added to the list of things he hated himself forâŚ
"Are you ready?" She set the half empty cup of coffee down now. She had noticed his intense gaze, and it was a little unsettling.
"Hn." He shifted to face her, and slowly slid his headband off his head, exposing the sharingan that was stuck activated. He closed his blood red eye as she gently placed her hand over his eye, watching her with his charcoal one. He could sense the chakra building up in her palm, her hand started to glow with the aqua aura of her healing chakra. And the intimacy he felt as her chakra flowed into him, reminded him once again of the last time they were both on his couch, and he let it replay in his memory, chastising himself that he should have never thought about it again.
Her eyes slid closed as she concentrated on the damage she could repair. He instantly began to feel the relief, the tenseness in his shoulders relaxing somewhat. He was more than thankful for her in that moment.
As she finished her task, her mind wandered back to the way he had been gazing at her earlier. Her cheeks dusted pink once again, remembering that night. The protectiveness that it had started with, and the feel of his lips on hers that it ended with.
They never talked about it, and she had only ever told Hinata about it, until this morning when she told Naruto. Hinata was the only one who knew much of her personal things anymore, after becoming close when Naruto finally noticed the Hyuuga's affection for him. The memory was coming back to her vividly now.
That night had started out as just a night out with Ino, the blonde trying to distract herself from her broken heart, having found out that Shikamaru and Temari were together now. Ino ended up getting shit faced, and calling Choji crying. The Akimichi nin came to pick her up, holding her tightly as they left. It had made Sakura smile, thinking Ino was rather oblivious to the feelings everyone knew he had for her.
Sakura stayed at the club, sipping the warm sake. She was already here, may as well enjoy it right? She scanned for someone she might know. She didn't see anyone in eyesight, feeling too lazy to get up and check around the corner of the club, where she knew some jounin lounged there at times, she remained at the bar. She was fine, until some guy decided to pester her.
"I'm flattered, but not interested, sorry." She said dismissively.
"Oh, of course. The kunoichi always play hard to get." He wiggled his eyebrows. "I love a good game."
Sakura glared at him. "Get lost." She kept her voice a tad bit harsher than before, but she was getting nervous.
"Why? Because I'm not a shinobi? You think you're better than me?"
She straightened her shoulders. "No. I'm just simply here for a drink, and nothing else. Please, just leave me be." She stood from the bar, and began walking towards that jounin corner.
Maybe Anko or Kurenai are here tonight. They frequent here, usually with Gai, Asuma and Genma. Sometimes Kakashi is even with them.
Her heart fluttered at the thought of her former sensei. The feeling of safeness she had always felt around becoming something she needed at the moment. She picked up her pace.
"You really think I'll let you get away so easily?" His voice sounded dark now, sending a nervous shiver up her spine.
"I said leave me alone!" She hissed at him, turning that corner and making eye contact with Kurenai, giving her pleading eyes. She rushed over to them, noticing the silver hair nin who faced away from her.
"How about you come with me?" His voice still sounded dark, low with intentions she wasn't welcome to.
The silver haired nin she so dearly wanted to be near turned his head slightly at the sound of that statement, she was just getting to the end of the sofa they were sitting at, a space next to him open. The man was close behind Sakura, trying to grasp her wrist. He could feel the trepidation radiating off of his former student.
"If you lay a finger on her, you're gonna find all ten incapable." Kakashi hissed out, taking another sip of his now third careen of sake. Sakura was just in arms reach, he slipped his arm around her waist and pulled her to sit in the empty space next to him, wrapping his arm around her possessively.
"Ah, so she's yours?"
None of the jounin said a word. Sakura pressed into his side, finding comfort in the protection, not caring how it was shown at this moment. She could smell the sake on his breath, just as much as she could taste it on hers.
"I told you to leave me alone." She spoke defiantly and laid her head on Kakashi's shoulder for good measure.
He scoffed and finally gave up on his pursuit.
Kakashi's arm didn't move from around her waist, nor did he shy away from their close proximity. She glanced up at him, the expression on his face unreadable.
"I'm glad you came this way, SakuraâŚ" Kurenai said, breaking the silence.
She met the red eyed female's gaze and nodded. "I was at the bar. I came here with InoâŚ" She paused and moved her gaze to Asuma. "She's torn up about Shikamaru⌠But she drank too much and cried. Called Choji and he came right away to get her. I should have just left with themâŚ" She took a deep breath, releasing the tension she had been holding in her body. "I came this way from the bar when he started bothering me, hoping at least one of you was here."
Genma chuckled. "Well, I'm always here, blossom." He winked, the senbon in his mouth bouncing with his flirtation.
"Oh yes, run from one creepy flirt into the arms of another! What a saviour you'd have been." Anko teased and hit Genma on the shoulder.
Sakura rolled her eyes and laughed, thankful for the other ninja.
She looked over at Kakashi once again, this time his exposed eye was on her, and she met his gaze. "Thank you, Kakashi."
He nodded, and his hand began to gently rub her hip ever so slightly. No one else seemed to notice. She didn't dare move. She suddenly realized she couldn't remember the last time she had been so⌠Close to someone else. She felt warm where his arm held around her form. She'd never been this close to him, being able to feel how solid his torso was or how rough his fingertips were against exposed skin. He smelled like the forest, which was kind of intoxicating. She was beginning to think maybe she also had too much to drink, despite her very sober feelings for him, she never dared to expose them.
Kakashi offered his careen, and she took just one more sip of the alcohol. She felt his gaze on her as she did so, and it made her feel hot all over.
Asuma watched them discreetly. Taking notice how they didn't move away to a more 'appropriate' distance once Sakura's assailant was gone. When was the last time Kakashi had a woman at his side? Sakura was the same age as Ino, looking just as much a woman as his beloved Kurenai now. Even he had noticed how attractive the kunoichi of the upcoming generation had become. He wondered if her former sensei did too, or if it was just the effect of the sake in his system. He chuckled to himself and looked over at Kurenai, who had a small smile playing on her lips.
"Feeling safer now, Sakura?" Genma said in a sultry voice.
Her eyes widened a moment. Of course she felt safer, what's he getting at? That's not abnormal is it, or am I just obvious... Like always.
"Well, wouldn't you feel safe in Hatake's arms? I know I wouldâŚ" Anko raised an eyebrow and Sakura cheeks grew hot with a blush. Genma just smirked.
So they do noticeâŚ
"Leave the girl alone. Anyone would feel safe in the presence of their sensei." Kurenai spoke matter of factly, though Sakura could tell she almost seemed to intentionally come to her rescue from further embarrassment.
Sakura was thankful for the comment but also embarrassed by it as she turned even more red and just hoped it wasn't too repulsive to have feelings for your sensei.
"Oh come on, what is it between our age and your squads'? 13-14 years? That's not so bad in shinobi terms." Genma drawled out. Asuma laughed lightly at the remark.
Kurenai sighed but sent a reassuring look towards Sakura.
Kakashi didn't seem phased, his hand still gently rubbing her hip.
"I should probably get home soonâŚ" Sakura mumbled to no one in particular. She stood, Kakashi's hand slipping away from her hip, and her body feeling cold from where his touch now vanished.
She took one step and stumbled, catching herself on the table between them all. She went to take another and her leg seemed to lose all its strength. Just as she realized she was falling, a strong arm wrapped around her waist tight and held her upright again.
She looked to see Kakashi, his eye was creased so he must have been smiling at her. Her heart thudded a little bit harder in her chest.
Did she really drink that much?
"How about I take you home?" Kakashi said with a deep tone she couldn't place.
"I'd appreciate that a lotâŚ" She smiled timidly, somewhat embarrassed at her drunken state, among the fact that she was almost certain everyone knew she loved him now.
He gently picked her up, one arm around her back and the other tucked under her knees. She lazily wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder. The man from earlier caught the sight and growled. "Not interested, huh?" He scoffed.
With the flick of his tongue, Genma sent his senbon in her assailant's direction, landing it right next to the man's drink on his table. His angry gaze met Genma's indifferent one.
"She wasn't interested in you. Hatake on the other handâŚ" He smiled widely now. "You never had a chance. And if it wouldn't have been him, it would have been me." He added snidely. Anko and the rest of the group laughed. "Kunoichi need men that are a challenge, and you're not even close to such a man. Too simple... And too creepy."
Sakura gazed up at Kakashi at Genma's words. She began to wonder what he looked like under that damned mask, wanting to know even more now than before. Her bet still ran that he was handsome under that pesky fabric. That made him a challenge from the startâŚ
Oh what was she thinking. He's just taking her home⌠And he doesn't see her like that. Her cheeks turned red again, her mind wandering now. She always cared about Kakashi, appreciated him. He has been there for her and always protected her⌠She felt safe with him.
Her fingers slowly found their way into the hair at the back of his neck and just kept twisting her fingers in the shortish strands of silver. He kept everyone so closed out⌠He would never. He cared for her as his student, his comrade⌠She was so much younger, she knew it would never work, but it didn't stop her. She was used to unrequited feelingsâŚ
And then her heart sank, as memories came rushing through. Feeling alone all over again and cold, she focused on the places her body was in contact with Kakashi's. The warmth and closeness of it.
"KakashiâŚ"
She felt his throat vibrate with the noise he made in acknowledgement.
"I don't want to be aloneâŚ" Her voice trembled ever so slightly. His grip on her tightened.
"You won't be." and then he turned in the opposite direction of her house.
Those words echoed in her mind once more. She smiled. She hated being alone, which was part of the reason she always found herself in his company. Even after that night, things didn't seem to change. It went on like it didn't happen, but she thought of it often⌠How she wanted more than this companionship from him. Beginning to wonder if he was just too drunk like she was, or if it was real desire slipping past his guard that was fractured by alcohol, and halted by what he felt was right.
They were staring into each other's eyes now but nothing was being said. His hand slowly reached out to her, landing on her hip, but still nothing was said.
Kakashi walked purposely to his apartment and when he got there, he set her on the couch gently, and sat next to her. She was watching him and he liked it.
He shouldn't feel this way. But the way that man had been trying to harass her, woke something in him. He always cared about her, hell he was beginning to think he might love her as unacceptable as it would have been and how out of reach of an idea that Sakura of all people would look any other way than Sasuke... But the thought of someone else having her angered him in that moment. And she never shyed away from him once the moment was over. She didn't flinch away from his touch on her hip. And she looked so damn hot when she blushed. And when she said she didn't want to be alone... He couldn't stand to take her home where she would be exactly that.
She almost seemed to welcome his touch, as he thought back on the moments.
He felt the couch shift and he looked at her just as her side made contact with his again, and slid his arm around her waist, holding her tight to him, just as he had at the club. She laid her hand on his thigh, lightly, timidly.
He began to wonder what she was thinking. She was drunk, maybe it wasn't what she really wanted.h=
"Its funny; How Ino begged to go out tonight, and I went happily, always ready to help a friendâŚ" She sighed. "But now I'm the one who's sadâŚ" Her lower lip twitched slightly. "Choji was so...tender towards her. I swear, she's so oblivious. We all have known he's loved her since we've been 12, but she was so infatuated with Sasuke, and then Shikamaru." The mention of the Uchiha's name shook over her lips. "No one has ever looked at me the way Choji did her tonight. Or the way Naruto gazes at Hinata⌠Even Neji at Tenten." Her eyes stung with tears now and she shook her head. "I'm sorry. I've had too much to drinkâŚ"
She went to move away, beginning to situate a pillow to lay her head on. Just as she started to feel cold again from his touch leaving her body, his hand gripped her wrist.
"SakuraâŚ" His voice came out soft and low. His other hand came up to gingerly touch her cheek and turned her to face him.
He wanted to kiss her⌠To make her feel cared for. Even lovedâŚ
Anything to send away those terrible feelings she was feeling.
She's drunk. This is wrong. He let go of her wrist. "It won't always be like thisâŚ" He tried to say something comforting.
Their eyes locked, her aqua hues staring into his single exposed one. She reached up and slid off his headband, now looking into his sharingan.
She could see something in him but she couldn't tell what it was. It seemed like he was holding something back, and she wanted to know what it was. Her wrist where his hold on her had been seemed to feel a chill as he let his grasp loose.
She brought her hand up to his face, and curled her finger tips around the edge of his mask slowly.
He tensed, just a little bit, and set his hands on her hips lightly. "You should get some sleepâŚ" He stated flatly. He broke their gaze and looked to the side. He wouldn't take advantage of her.
She made no response to his comment. A few moments passed, and then she slowly slid the mask down his face. As it hung around his neck, her fingers gingerly traced the scar that went through his eye. He closed his eye at her gentle touch.
"If I wasn't drunk, I could make that less obvious for youâŚ" She whispered softly.
He shook his head. "Rin tried but I want it to be thereâŚ" He spoke in a whisper. She understood, knowing how and why the scar existed.
The rest of his face was pale like the rest of his body, a slight line of color difference around the areas the mask didn't cover, as it was exposed to the sun, but it was still pale. He had clear skin and a strong jawline. His lips were thin and light in colour.
Handsome, just as she always thought.
He could feel her scrutinizing his now exposed face, the first time she's ever seen it. It made him feel a little self-conscious but he didn't let that on as he let her stare. He met her eyes once again, and this time, she came forward and kissed him.
His hands gripped her hips tighter, he didn't respond right away. The kiss was soft, her lips were soft and timid in their motion. He slowly responded to the kiss, keeping the gentleness she began with. She relaxed as soon as he tilted his head, and moved a little closer to him.
He shifted them, laying her back against the couch and hovering over her slim, but toned body. The silver haired nin slipped his hands up just barely into her red shirt, resting them on her sides. The feel of his calloused skin and the leather of his gloves made her shiver slightly. She tangled her hands in his hair and pulled him closer.
He was kissing her back, and her head was spinning. His body felt so fitting to hers as it pressed her against the couch. His tongue swiped her bottom lip and she gasped in surprise, and moaned as his tongue found hers and swirled around it.
Kakashi could feel her chest rise and fall against his chest as her breathing quickened. Her toned legs were on either side of him, he hooked his fingers under one of her knees and moved it to wrap around his waist. Her hands were in his hair and her scent filled his presence. He pressed a little more urgent into the kiss, and she moaned, the noise snapping him out of the arousal.
Instantly Kakashi's warmth vanished from all around her and she whimpered, and opened her eyes to look at him confused. "Is somethingâŚ"
"You're drunk. That was wrong of me. I'm sorry, IâŚ" He spoke fast and with sudden sobriety. "You can take the bedroom, I'll sleep on the couch."
She wanted to protest that she was perfectly okay with what had happened, that she wanted it, and wanted more. But he gently grabbed her hand and led her to the room. "If you want to change into something more comfortable, go ahead. Clothes are in the dresser."
And he left her in his bedroom to sleep on the couch.
She remembered waking up, having slipped on one of shirts, deciding that was the closest she'd probably get to his touch ever againâŚ
She stared at him with curiosity in her expression now. He had just been looking at her, his hand resting lightly on her hips.
She's fully sober now. He still wished for her. To hold her and cherish her. To protect her. He wanted to touch her, to kiss her. He brought his other hand to rest gingerly on her cheek, and she almost immediately turned into his touch.
She still wasn't shying away from him. Her gazed seared into him with the wonder of what was happening.
He'd never open up like this, but she made things better. She was able to give him comfort no one else ever did. He couldn't bring himself to even address that night, even now. He still regretted the alcohol, letting himself kiss her, even for just a few moments, while she was intoxicated and emotionally vulnerable. But now, he just needed it, even as he hated noticing she was grown now. Hated that he was so much older than her and felt this kind of desire. Even if she was an adult now, it still seemed inappropriate. But did any of that matter if she felt it too? He had to know if she wanted it too, the same way she seemed to want him that nightâŚ
"I remember the last time we were on this couch togetherâŚ" Her breath was a little shaky. "I wasn't that drunk. Drunk enough to stumble, but I still knew what I wanted. That I still want you." She stated matter of factly. Her hand reached out to his face, and she slowly, cautiously slid her finger tips into the top of his mask. He made no motion to stop her. "I understand why you stopped it⌠It even made me respect you even more than I already do." She smiled and began to pull the mask down. "But it still hurt a little. I wondered if it was only the alcohol that had made you want meâŚ"
He shook his head, still holding her gaze, and his grip on her hip tightened.
"I cried to Hinata about it⌠But she insisted that it wasn't it." The mask was hanging around his neck. She placed her hand on the back of his neck and began to lay back on the couch. "You told me it wouldn't always be like this⌠I wouldn't always feel alone." Her hand moved into his hair and he moved to hover over her again, and pressed his forehead to hers.
"You haven't been alone for a long time, SakuraâŚ" He breathed out low, his lips almost touching hers. "It just felt⌠wrong. For me, your former sensei, to feel the way I doâŚ"
"Kakashi...?" He could feel her chest moving up and down with her heavy breathing again.
"I always cared about you. And I've...loved you for some time now." That word felt foreign, sounded foreign, but he knew he did. He brought his hand to the back of her neck, tangling his fingers in her hair. "It wasn't until that night that I thought you would ever want me.." He mused softly. "We were both drunk and I wanted you so much⌠But I didn't want to take advantage of youâŚ" He sighed. "I feel guilt and shame for how far it did go."
"Please⌠Don't. I want this. I want you." Her voice shook a little as she spoke those words.
He placed his lips over hers gently, gripping her hair just a little tighter. She made a sound of contentment before moving her lips against his, pulling him closer. She needed to feel his body against hers. Her hands tugged at his hair and she turned her head, deepening the kiss, feeling the heat spread through her body just like it had that night under his intense gaze.
He pulled away and looked at her deep in the eyes. "SakuraâŚ" He slid his hand under her shirt, this time pulling it up.
"Kakashi, pleaseâŚ" She whined. She pulled the zipper of his vest down and shrugged it off his shoulders.
"I know." He smiled and lifted her shirt over her head.
She'd never get over being able to see his full smile, the curve of his lips seemed so precious.
He left hot kisses down her jawline and neck and she tilted her head back to give him better access. His hair tickled her skin as he moved. Her breathing was becoming ragged. She slid her hands under his shirt, running her slender fingers across his toned abdomen, feeling the scars that rose a bit off his torso as she ran them up his body. He shivered, her touch felt like electricity surging through him.
As much as she wanted this, a small fear began to creep up on her. She needed to tell himâŚ
"Kakashi, I've neverâŚ" She started and he slowly halted and he met her eyes, understanding what she was about to tell him.
Of course, she hadn't. The only other person she ever seemed to have eyes for was Sasuke, and obviously that never went anywhere for themâŚ
He pecked her lips as she slid his shirt off. He stood up and lifted her off the couch into his arms, holding her tight to him, the faded black garment forgotten on the floor. He carried her to his room and laid her delicately over his shuriken covers. He kissed her, deep and slow. It made her heart melt. His tongue swiped across her lips and she parted them for him.
He was being so passionate yet so gentle at the same time.
And it was really happening. He wasn't going to stop, and leave her alone in his bed this time. Even though his foresty scent engulfing her in his covers that night had been comforting, she had wished she could have at least been in his arms that night. And now, she was going to get it all, she thought as his lips were trailing down her body again and she was panting.
Kakashi's thoughts were wild. He wasn't just going to lie with her, but he was going to be her first, and hopefully only. It only made him feel like it was wrong all over again, only for a moment. The love reflecting in those hues casting away any doubts he had about them. If she wanted this, wanted him then he wasn't ever letting her slip away from him.
He didn't care that she used to be his student, or that she had grown up before his eyes. He didn't care that he was fourteen years older. As long as it was she wanted, what would make her happy, that's what he cared about.
And there was no denying she wanted him as she panted, whispers of his name filling the air in his bedroom. Her body pressing into everything he did.
"KakashiâŚ" It was going to drive him crazy.
"Say it." He said in a hushed tone. He looked up at her. "Tell me this isn't just about being aloneâŚ"
It suddenly nagged at him still, even when he was enjoying this. That fear to open up, just to lose someone again. It'd kill him if he finally gave in, for her to be gone later. To never be at his side.
Understanding crossed her features. She sat up and held his face in her hands. "I love you, Kakashi Hatake. I've loved you since I realized who has been there for me since those two nearly killed each other." Tears filled her eyes. "I've loved you since you held me in your living room the first time I ever came here, and clung to that picture and cried, and you held me." Her eyes were sparkling. "I've known I loved you since you saved me from SasukeâŚ" She kissed him hard, her hands moving up into his hair and pulling hard. He moaned into her mouth and gripped her hips.
"I'm not going anywhere." She whispered against his lips, and it was all he needed to finally completely let the wall down to her.
His hands trailed up her form once again, finding his calloused fingers wrapped around both her breasts, before he started to tear away the wrappings, kissing the skin as it was exposed to him. She gasped and threw her head back against the mattress, her pink tresses splaying across the covers.
He took one of her now hardened buds into his mouth, swirling his tongue around the skin. His hands moved in a gentle caress to grip that pesky little skirt and the shorts underneath and slid them both off in one motion.
And now he felt her hands leaving his hair, trailing down his bare torso, leaving fire on his skin in their chasteness, and just like her slender fingers had curled around the edge of his mask, they did the same around the waistband of his pants. They were just a little hesitant now, and he gave her peck on the lips to encourage her further.
"Is the bold medic getting flustered now?" He smirked slightly at the blush that stained her cheeks deeply now, much like that night when Genma teased her.
Sakura tightened her grip before closing her eyes and jerking the fabric away from the silver haired man that she finally had him to herself. No amount of nervousness was going to ruin that. She gulped as she peeked between then, finally seeing the hardness that she had felt against her leg a couple times. She bit her lip, noting the size. Not that she had really seen and paid attention to any other, he just seemed a little bit more⌠Gifted.
Kakashi chuckled deep in his chest, finding the way she ground her bottom lip between her teeth upon seeing himself a little sexy and adorable all at once. "Don't worry, I'll be slow⌠Gentle." He kissed her softly and she reciprocated instantly.
He pulled away lightly. "You're really gonna like what's coming next if you've never been with anyone at all." His voice sounded like honey to her. He began kissing, and nipping every so often down her body and suddenly she started gathering where he was heading when he didn't stop at her chest⌠Or her hips. He was on his knees in front of the bed now, and lazily slung her legs over his shoulders, gripped her hips and pulled her body towards him.
"Oh my god, Kakashi!" She moaned and squirmed slightly as she felt his hot, wet tongue glide between her lips, and circle the tip expertly around her clit. He did it again, delving a little deeper, and sucking when he reached the bundle of nerves again. Her body was starting to gleam with sweat.
She'd heard how much a treat this could be from Ino, but she never could have imagined this. She squirmed and moaned low as he continued the motions, so slow and intentional.
"Kakashi⌠More. Please." She pleaded with him. Her legs were wrapped tight around his shoulders now, pressing him to her core, and she was thankful he didn't seem to mind at all.
He decided the only response needed was to oblige, and he trailed his fingers delicately over the pale skin of her right thigh, inching them closer and closer to her entrance. He slid in one digit slowly, testing, instantly he felt himself harden more at how soaked she was already. She was dripping with need, and it was all for him. She moaned a bit and didn't seem to feel any discomfort. He added another, still she seemed in perfect pleasure, just moaning and writhing on his bed as he still continued to use his tongue against her. He spread his fingers inside her and her back arched off the bed but it was pure ecstasy that fell from her lips. He smirked and decided to stop to raise up just a bit, enough to talk, but enough that his breath still breezed over her sensitiveness.
"It would seem you're no stranger to these feelings" He spoke in a low, accusing tone. And there it was, that heat again on her face.
"I⌠" Damn him. "Sometimes I just need⌠Relief." She looked away, refusing to make eye contact as her cheeks burned scarlet now.
"Well, you're plenty loose enough and wet enough." He said flippantly now, and stood up from his knees, pushing her more into the bed. He crawled onto the mattress, making himself comfortable between her legs, his knees digging into the mattress, wrinkling the shuriken covers further than she had with her writhing.
Suddenly all her muscles tensed, gathering that she was about to lose her innocence to him. She wanted this, but it didn't make slight fear completely dissipate.
Hinata said she didn't feel a thing when Naruto took her. But Ino said it was agony when Choji did and it took minutes to pass. Tenten said it only stung for a moment with Neji. Temari never talked about what it had been like with Shikamaru. So many mixed reviews, how was she to know what to expect. Then she glanced back down, remembering his size. Perhaps it was silly to even question. There's no way Kakashi wouldn't hurt at least a little.
He watched her gaze, wondering what was flying through that pink little head of hers. He watched her gaze shift back down again, and her hips squirmed a bit. He gripped them gently and leaned to whisper softly in her ear.
He was trying to push away the fact he was about to strip the very innocence he lectured her so much to hide years prior.
"This is probably going to hurt⌠And if you want me to stop at any point." He kissed her cheek, pecked her lips. "Don't be scared to tell me to."
She nodded and brought her arms to link around his neck. He laid his forehead against hers, and slowly moved his hips forward into hers, pressing the tip of his length just against her entrance. They both moaned low.
When was the last time he had been with someone, even though they had all been one night stands. No strings attached.
It was obvious this was going to be different, it was going to feel different. It was going to be so much better.
He slid his arms up under her form so that he was hugging her close to him. She sighed happily, before he pressed on a little further, just enough to break that barrier. Her body tensed, her legs squeezed his hips and her eyes knit shut. A small whimper escaped her lips, but she moved her hips into his.
This was more straining than he expected it to be. He wanted all of her, now. But he couldn't do that, not yet. This had to be tender. He pressed a little further, half of him inside her now. Her face still looked a little pained, but she gasped and her mouth hung open now.
Sakura was taking deep breaths, bearing it. It wasn't so bad, but it was definitely there. But the more he moved, the more the pleasure came, and pain subsided. She was beyond appreciative for his sincerity in this moment, but she could feel in the tenseness of his muscles it was difficult for him to hold back.
He moved further again, and there was nothing but pure ecstasy this time.
"Oh, KakashiâŚ" She unlinked her fingers from each other, just to dig them into his back. She arched her back into him, and swiftly thrusts her hips upward into his, and he gasped, his full length in her now.
"SakuraâŚ" The strain in his voice couldn't be held back anymore. He bit down on his lip hard. That one swift motion, the way his name sounded coming from her in such tones. It was becoming too much.
She looked up at him, and every bit of innocence that had been in those eyes had fled from them, and now they were dark and seductive. She flicked her tongue over her lips, wetting the chapped skin from her panting.
"Kakashi, I need youâŚ" She leaned up and began kissing his jawline, and down his neck. She bit the crook of his shoulder that met his neck and snapped whatever restraint he had.
In one fluid motion, he pulled his hips back and slammed back into her. The nails only dug deeper into the skin of his shoulder, her moans getting louder.
"No, Sakura, I need you." His voice was low and husky against her ear, and then he slammed his hips into hers again and she was too far gone in pleasure to reply. She wrapped her legs around his waist, linking her ankles. She pulled him deeper into her.
He couldn't have ever imagined it would have ever ended up like this. She was just as needy as him, and he wondered if she would be just as aggressive as time went on.
He swiftly brought his head down and bit down on her collarbone, and sucked the pale skin, with full intention to leave red and purple with the bruise of his needs. He could feel the stinging pain of where she had bit him and it only urged him on more.
"Kakashi, I..!" She felt her whole body start to tremble, her eyes squeezed shut tight and she buried her face in his shoulder, her hands flat against the muscles of his back. Her legs shook.
"Shit!" Her lover hissed into her hair, stroking the strands lightly. He could feel her tightening around him as she was climaxing and he wasn't going to last much longer.
She felt his body tighten, his toned arm that still held her tight against his body as he let out a low groan and she felt warmth between her legs as they climaxed. She fell back, the copy nin following, collapsing on her chest, his breathing laboured.
It may as well have been his first because he vaguely remembered it had been years now, and was slightly disappointed in himself for lasting so short. But she seemed exhausted anyway.
"I love youâŚ" He murmured, placing a soft kiss on her shoulder.
She was still reeling from her first full orgasm but the precious words rang through her reverie and she beamed with joy.
"I love you tooâŚ" And she brought her hand to his head, her fingers twirling in the strands lightly. His breathing was steadying now. She placed a kiss on the top his head.
She couldn't believe it. She was in his bed, naked in his arms after making love, after losing her virginity to him.
Everything felt right in the world. She couldn't give a damn what anyone would ever think, because she was happy. And so was he.
Kakashi hummed contently at the motions of her fingers in his hair. Nothing could have ever made him happier than this morning. Peering over at the clock on his night stand, it was 11:30am now. Just as he was deciding right here and right now in her embrace, his resting between her breasts would be the perfect time for a nap, there was a light knock on the door, and then it opened. Sakura tensed and brought the blankets up over them, but seemed more in fear of being seen naked, rather than being seen in his bed. Once she felt she was covered, her body relaxed.
Kakashi groaned at whoever it was. "Go away."
The timbre of Asuma's voice came through the doorway. "Hey old friend, we need talk, because I know your self loathing will keep you from ever dealing with it."
Kakashi's eyebrow raised at what he could be referring to. Curious, he remained silent. Sakura's face was turning a slight pink, like she knew what it was.
"That Haruno girl has eyes for y-" His figure appeared through the door, and his eyes found the sight of the famous copy nin tangled up with the hokage's apprentice.
Sakura's face was deep red now.
Kakashi smirked slightly. "Oh believe me, I know." Kakashi said in his usual flippant tone. And turned to plant a kiss on Sakura's burning cheek.
"Well, Kurenai will be pleased to hear that you didn't even need a nudge." Asuma laughed.

Hi, can you talk a little bit about narutoâs dark, controlling and possessive side? Or if you already wrote about it, link me the post? Thankss
I mentioned something here, here and probably there is smth in this tag.Â
And like I said countless times since you guys just donât care about other ppl, if you write n*rutoâs name entirely it will show up in the search pages and I am fed up with raging SN/SN.S/Nar stans bitching at me.
Sorry (nope, not sorry) to break someoneâs bubble but Nar is not a happy ball of sunshine and heâs not selfless.Â
He was neglected as a child, totally abandoned to himself with some money each month and an apartment he was supposed to clean and manage all alone. He was shunned or treated like sh*t by villagers and classmates alike, his only âparentâ was Iruka who couldnât be with him always, and his idea of friendship, family, everything was twisted, cause try living all by yourself since youâre a child and you have no idea of why ppl hate you and avoid you. Of course he saw the Hokage as this big authority figure that everyone respects and âlovesâ in his child mind, and of course he wanted to be Hokage so that ppl would finally respect and âloveâ him. His idea of love is obviously screwed, and itâs a mix of respect, aknowledgement, deference.
He doesnât have a sense of equality because he never learned what equality is. He was below everyone else being shunned and hated, and his role model was above everyone else, where he aspired to be.
He started to make friends and heâs all about comrades, yes, like all shounen protagonists. But itâs always him reaching out to them, him protecting them, him changing their minds about something (or about himself), him obtaining their admiration and respect from an initial situation of being the opposite, being considered a good for nothing and a loser.
Sasuke is considered the opposite since the beginning, heâs a good student and shinobi, heâs left all alone too and nothing is shown of his alone life but from the little things we see he learned to manage himself and the house better, he didnât care about people probably talking behind his back about the massacre, and he obtained a good reputation in the academy, so the story starts with him in a different situation. And Nar considers him a rival, heâs clearly jealous of the âsuccessâ he has, not realizing that heâs alone too. Because Nar is not empathic at all, and his child self is even less, being a child with clear difficulties in processing things, which makes sense since he had no education basically. He just sees external signs of adjustment and âsuccessâ which is what he wants, so he âhatesâ Sasuke and he provokes him all the time. They become rivals, then comrades (and rivals), then friends, but itâs always Sasuke who, despite his aloof personality, shows positive signs, first hand feeding him, then defending him against Sak*ra, then shielding him and many other little things while Nar is always overreacting or doing questionable, not to say bad things (like attacking him and tying him up to meet Sak*ra) to him.
Narâs lack of empathy can be seen after the inn scene, cause instead of being I wonât even say supportive but, not irritating, he mocks Sasuke who just woke up after Tsukuyomi, provoking him so that Sasuke, already (re)traumatized and feeling worthless towards both his brother and Naru, challenges him. Right after waking up from a coma, basically. And ofc Nar doesnât hold back.
When Sasuke leaves in part 1 Nar is enraged, ofc, and he reacts violently, even their fight is very violent, and ofc it is being a fight, but Nar is really really brutal, feral Iâd say, and possessive, trying to bring him back. I donât remember their fight well but if Iâm not mistaken thatâs when he first threatens Sasuke to break all his bones?
Then Sasuke leaves and Nar starts his own âsad boy missing his âbest friendâ dramaâ and all the fandom is uwu look at him so sensitive, but heâs being abstract there, while when he faces Sasuke direcly or indirectly heâs different, more direct and not sentimental. As expected of a badass fighter, cause thatâs what he is, thatâs what everyone is in the story. when in part 2 Orochimaru calls Sasuke âhisâ he goes berserk, and his search for Sasuke becomes even more obsessive, to the point of claiming that if theyâll fight theyâll both die and theyll be ok in the afterlife...this is kinda poetic but also creepy af. Itâs stalker material tbh. Also because in that moment Sasuke just âkilledâ Danzo, heâs exhausted, visibly blind, especially after fighting Kakashi, whose fight clearly took his toll on him (He avoided Sak*raâs pathetic attempt to kill him but that was easy). Nar has all his energies and heâs stronger physically anyway having more stamina and kyuubiâs chakra. But heâs ready to fight him, even tho he gives a speech because ofc. too bad that Sasuke doesnât fall for it cause he has his own personality and his own goals, which for Nar is unacceptable cause everyone must be on his side, especially the one he wants.
Sasuke remains on his own side until Itachi does his thing and bla bla bla, Itachi first is brougth close to Nar which was interesting to watch but also a huge narrative move to bring Sasuke to his side as well, getting to fight alongside his beloved brother and wanting to understand him and his ideal of protecting Konoha thus summoning Orochimaru, the 4 Hokage and deciding to join the battlefield. Then they fight together and even then itâs Sasuke who accepts Naruâs lead, not the other way round because Nar would never obey anyone whoâs not himself especially he wouldnât obey someone he wants to possess, metaphorically (but if you like also literally).
When the battle is over and their battle starts he shows his true colors. Heâs no longer the one wanting to die with his âfriendâ, heâs a leader wanting Sasuke, his âfriendâ who in his eyes took the wrong road, to get back to the village, because Konoha is HIS concept of happiness. In fact, Sasuke in Konoha is Narâs concept of happiness. And to obtain it he uses every method, not just a good olâ fight, the more brutal the better. In fact their last fight has a different vibe, itâs Sasuke the one whoâs more stressed and emotional, heâs drained, completely, cause he wants his revolution and he wants to change the world to make him like Itachi dreamed of, and he needs to eliminate Nar for it, he doesnât want to eliminate him but he needs to and he clearly explains him why in the beginning of the fight. The way he fights is desperate.
Nar instead is calm, his emotions are under control, he fights with his hands but also with mind techniques because he manipulates Sasuke all the time: he tells him that he didnât understand his own brother (implying that he did it better. That he, who interacted with Edo Tensei Itachi for a couple of hours, understands him better than the brother who basically worships him!), that everything he believes is wrong, that he knows whatâs best for him (which is interestingly exactly what he wanted in life, what a coincidence). And it works, cause Sasuke admits his own defeat, and, later, he is further brainwashed and guilt tripped, jailed and submitted until heâs a perfect Konoha dog. Even in his Shinden episodes heâs away but loyal and guilt ridden for his actions. He became Naruâs watchdog, his most loyal servant. Not his equal. He fulfilled Naruâs wish for him.
And, in case someoneâs still not enraged because Hawk how dare you shit on their amazing bond? shocking huh? yeah I write what I think and I am very interested in their bond actually, since itâs a dark unhealthy one, completely unbalanced, just like Iâm interested in Nar very much when heâs not idealized, cause heâs much more complex and interesting with his dark side.
Every episode shows Narâs lack of care and empathy, his inner violence and selfishness, but they also are justified somehow. I can understand why, since his childhood made him self-centered and lacking the ability to interact with people on an equal basis, basically he never grew up for real, he acted like a grown up person but he remained a child inside, a possessive child who wants something and then discards it. And it shows whenever he âsavesâ someone with his TnJ, this someone becomes his âfriendâ, loyal to him forever, and he moves on to âsaveâ someone else, all the while having Sasuke as his ultimate goal. Too bad that after he saves him too, he discards him as well. Not as much as the other cause Sasuke is special to him, but not as an equal either. I wonât mention the jail moment while Naru is basking in his popularity cause some donât see it as canon, but when in the manga Sasuke is leaving Konoha and stumbles on Nar he says he didnât think the other would come greet him. This shows how their relationship isnât so amazing, since one would imagine that Nar would be 24/7 with Sasuke after he comes back.
So, all these moments show a clear picture of him as a possessive and selfish person who only âcaresâ about ppl because he wants to be âlovedâ (=admired and respected and aknowledged as the best) by said ppl, and whose âloveâ for Sasuke is possessive and obsessive to an extreme point, a desire to be aknowledged and respected but also to submit the one whom he most âlovesâ, because there is no equality in the way Nar sees himself and the rest of the world, including âhisâ âbest friendâ.
(btw if someone disagrees, keep it for yourself, I donât give a damn about discussing with you)

rewritting sasukeâs arc because i can't sleep at nights
canon sasuke is a bitch and an idiot and you can't tell me otherwise (stick with me even if youâre his fan, please)
which boils down to kishimoto being an idiot who doesn't know what he's writting
so, sasuke would have his revenge on itachi and on the old council that manipulated his brother. he would address how hurizen is just the worst
but he wouldn't fucking plan to kill all the konoha because it's dumb as fuck
sasuke would understand that konoha as all the people isn't guilty and he would become who he doesn't want to be if he actually killed everybody (you know what that is? gROWTH)
sasuke would complete his revenge by killing people he planned to but he wouldn't be satisfied
he would say 'fuck konoha and fuck all the villages' because he actually doesn't wanna come back because, well, the system is kinda fucked, right?
but he would decide he doesn't want to be an evil bad guy that would '''''unite all the nations against him''''' because it's dumb as fuck and wouldn't work at all
i mean, you really want to 'unite' all the people and make them less stereotypical towards clans when you make yourself a perfect example of 'this sasuke guy is the worst! we made a good choice killing these untamed uchiha. we should do it again if another clan starts to get too loudâ ????? ?????
he would create his own village or take over the sound village because somehow orochimaru's message isn't this bad after all
i mean, find people who are the outsiders and have no home, the ones who aren't accepted by their villages, and give them home - sounds good to me!
sasuke would be a kage but people would join him of their own free will (instead of 'mom said it's my turn to be hokage >:( and you people have to listen to me!')
that would follow the message of ruling not by fear but by love, which is a very smart message
that also would be a parallel for sasuke learning from orochimaru and kind of becoming his legacy - orochimaru was his sensei after all
however, he definitely improves orochi's ideas because, well, sasuke isn't going to experiment on these people...
but i always felt like orochi's idea of a village that has special people joining it because they have no home is something very interesting and much better option than normal villages
tbh, i really like this ambivalence - orochi's viewed as a bad guy but actually the message of his village (excluding the experimenting on people part... lalalalalalala) is morally good
at the end, we get a very very very satisfying and fan-service ending of two kages - sasuke and naruto, being at peace, and naruto learning to be better hokage and changing his village to make it similar to sasuke's (ehm huyga clan ehm)
'and they were kages⌠oh my god, they were kagesâ
(we can literally have the same ending with the headband - that would be so fitting!)
sasuke becomes a compelling anti-villain who finally can see a bright future (because he can see his influence on naruto) and he's finally happy and feels like he found home and family (his new village) - we would sympathize with him and we would be happy for him that after all this mess he's eventually calm (there should definitely be a scene when he's just looking at his village and genuinely smiles after 84 years saying 'THAT is some good fucking life')
i'm not saying that itachi would be proud but itachi would be proud
also, the story gives good messages such as: (mentioned before) rule by love not fear, change a system by giving an example not a threat, revenge won't satisfy you, etc.
instead of, like: âwhen youâre defeated by your rival-friend, go on an exile and abandon your daughterâ or 'knowing that itachi killed innocent people, i'm planning to do the same'
all in all, we would get a really great character development and more meaningful ending, giving a good background for imagining (or really continuing it in boruto) how the shinobi system can change influenced by sasuke's village policy
oh my god they were kages
Feel free to change it or share your own opinion, however, please keep the principles of discussion (this post doesn't tolerate any kind of hateful comments towards anybody, even Kishimoto. I can call him an idiot but I'm not sending him death threats, okay? And I encourage all of you not to do the same, towards anyone, also towards me. I have not enough mental health to stand very mean posts)

I just got into the fandom and I love it so much. However, there are parts where I just cringe. Iâm going to be completely honest when I say I canât see SS being a thing, a healthy one at that. A rumor said that Sasuke always had feelings for Sakura but he didnât know how to show them because hatred blinded him. I just... find it utterly bullshit. Hell, even I do ship narusasu, I tried to be open minded and not fall too far off canon or the characters. I donât understand how Sasuke had those feelings for her when all he did was shown the opposite and it felt genuine. He seem always annoyed and pushes her away. She kept forcing her feelings on him when he makes it clear that heâs not interested. I donât hate the ship because itâs not my ship but because itâs extremely toxic. It feels one-sided (Sakuraâs side) more than anything and itâs makes it hard to believe he had those feelings for her. I mean, on the second episode of season five, she confessed and poured out her heart and he blew it off. I cringed hard and was beyond disappointed because sheâs making it about herself. Thatâs literally how I feel about their damn ârelationshipâ. She made it about her and her only. When heâs hurting, itâs about her. Itâs so annoying and it makes me see how self-centered Sakura. When she said she understood Sasuke, I wanted to scream (I nearly did but my family is sleeping and I donât need a lecture.) She doesnât know Jackshit about Sasuke besides heâs the only survivor of his decease clan, heâs a loner who cares only about himself, and heâs attractive. Sheâs just like every other fangirl expect sheâs on his team. Iâm trying my best not to hate her but Damn sheâs really pushing it. Anything that annoyed me was that she made it seem like they were dating, again making it about herself and her feelings. She sent Naruto to get Sasuke for her benefits, so she can keep him. Again, disregarding Sasukeâs feelings and what he wanted. Naruto shouldâve said âIâll bring him back because HE wants too, to keep HIM safe, not for you.â I just canât with this ship. Iâm still wondering why the hell is it even a thing? Also find it beyond pitiful how she stayed with Sasuke in Boruto when he left for 12-13 years?! No note. No checking up. Nothing. Hell, Sarada doesnât know how her own father looks like or the truth of her mother. Both of them were miserable and I find it absolutely ridiculous when SS shippers still say âtheyâre in loveâ or theyâre OTP. If thatâs what true love looks like (good thing itâs not), then Iâd die single. I canât be the only one who thinks this ship is just as bad as Harley Quinn x Joker.
First off, Thanks for this lovely ask @larrycherry04 â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ I've always wanted to write about this and your ask is the perfect timing.
Disclaimer: SS shippers, Sakura fans!!! Donât read this post!!
Me being an SNS shipper, I am just going to write this from a non-SNS perspective. Meaning, I am going to consider Naruto and Sasuke are just friends or rivals.Â
Bear with my lengthy answer.
Where do I even begin?
A rumor said that Sasuke always had feelings for Sakura but he didnât know how to show them because hatred blinded him.
I think this rumor is from a light novel called Akatsuki Hiden or whatever shit. But for me, it looks like a pathetic attempt to convince those horny women shippers who would pay any money to read a romance which mirrors their own love life where they desire an âunreachable & handsomeâ man who has this âcool & overbearingâ aura and carries this âbad boy badassâ vibe. They would do anything to get the attention from this boy. Until this point is where the reality ends.Â
What they really wants to happen and fantasize is somehow that handsome man, one day, will look only them and recognize their love and becomes a âsoftâ guy who would bring the heavens for them and treats her like a princess. That fantasy led them to buy these novels and believe everything while completely disregarding the canon material. And those novels are aimed at these type of women.
You must have been wondering now, âI have seen these type of shit somewhereâ!!!!!
Thatâs right.
50 Shades of Grey, Twilight, Beauty and the Beast, 100â˛s of K-Drama, C-Drama follow this shit romance trope and itâs regrettably fucking popular.Â
In other words, Donât believe anything apart from the canonic resources.Â
Letâs dissect the canon materials about SS.
TEAM 7Â
This is how it all started
Does anyone see anything positive here????Â
Well, I am not.
Sakura wanted to impress Sasuke. Since, Naruto always picks fight with Sasuke, she badmouthed Naruto in the hopes that Sasuke will recognize some common ground with her which may develop into a friendship. But she shot her own foot.Â
[Regardless, I hated her here and she never redeemed herself, for her being completely insensitive & oblivious towards Sasukeâs life, the boy she loves]
Technically, Sasuke should have said âYouâre Annoyingâ towards Naruto for kissing him before the class and tying him up later. Here, Sakura is simply badmouthing another guy. He, somehow, find this very annoying than anything Naruto did earlier.Â
Sasuke always had feelings for Sakura but he didnât know how to show them because hatred blinded him.
Am definitely not seeing any feelings here. Â
ZABUZA ARC
Alright, much later, somehow Sasuke started to integrate into team 7 and started to see them as a Family. No denial here. He started to care about everyone in his team at some point. Which was evident from the way he thought to himself, âThat was Sakuraâs voice... What is Kakashi doing?â
But does it means he hopelessly fell in love with her??? Nope.Â
Itâs just a team camaraderie where he was worried about his teammate. If he has special feelings towards her, he should have said âI must go save Sakuraâ or something along the line.Â
But, later in that episode, he went on to die for Naruto and even at his dying moments he didnât think about Sakura or Team 7. It was all about someone else.
Even seconds before falling into Narutoâs arms, Sasuke was smiling with no regrets.Â
It was funny very later that after he got up from his temporary death, rather than consoling her like âSakura, Donât cry. Am alrightâ or anything, he was asking âWhereâs Naruto?â. LOL.
Even much later, when Sakura was asking him about a date, he bluntly said âI refuseâ.
So, youâre telling me, throughout this arc, a boy blinded with hatred can able to pout, play childish games, train and die for a boy but when it comes to Sakura he canât show his feelings???
Sorry, I donât see romance here. Not in this arc.
Whether you agree or not, every parent has their favorite child, every child has their favorite parent. Even within your family, you always have a special person.
For Sasuke, Itachi was that person in his real family. Sakura was not that person in his Team 7 family. It was Naruto.
CHUNIN EXAMS ARC
This arc is where those SS shippers celebrates a lot and I know why. Remember earlier I talked about that shitty 50 Shades of Grey romantic trope??? The following scene vaguely falls under that pattern.
A guy loses his control because of a cursed seal and beats up the guys who hurt one of his teammates which happens to be a girl and calms down after seeing the girl.Â
That Infamous back hug.Â
I understand why SS people lose their mind with that scene. And I donât blame them. I am going to throw their own proof at them.
So, this First databook, tells us that he finally sees both Naruto and Sakura as comrades and his heart softens from the path of revenge, a little bit.
Definitely, Sakuraâs tears or love towards him stopped his rampage. But nothing says about whether Sasuke loves her back. Â
Much later, Sasuke also stops his cursed seal on his own after thinking about worried Sakura and a screaming Naruto (Who donât know about this seal thingy at that time).Â
Well, whatever. That databook has another funny fact, that too in the same page.Â
LOL. Weird!!!! This accidental kiss unravels Sasukeâs heart â¤ď¸â¤ď¸???? đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
So, influencing Sasukeâs heart can be attributed to both his teammates, according to this databook. Atleast upto this arc. There are no special feelings for Sakura alone, guys.Â
Proof?
If Sasuke really considers her in a romantic light (this is after that back hug), he doesnât have to do this at all. Believe me, Love is all about subconsciously or purposefully enjoying or feeling little touches. Those touches can be through eyes, memories or physical. Sakura is delighted with his touch because she loves him but Sasuke just see her as a comrade and keeping his distance but this time very politely.
If Kishi really likes these couple, he doesnât have to make this scene at all. Itâs not just this one instance, he rejected her twice very bluntly before this saying âDonât cling to me!!!â, âSakura, youâre heavy!!!â.Â
If you say her back hug is a token of romance, then I can say âthisâ kiss is also a token of romance. You canât ignore one while keeping the other.
Anyways, at the end of the arc, Orochimaru is the best judge to identify who can change Sasukeâs heart. And that person is not Sakura.
DEPARTURE
she confessed and poured out her heart and he blew it off.
You know what, Larry??? You are 1000% right.Â
But, atleast, I thought she was genuine in the first part of the proposal, like saying âRevenge is not goodâ.....bla bla.. Because, Revenge will never satisfy a person completely and I agree. Then she took a 180 degree by saying âTake me with you, Sasuke-Kun. Iâll make you happyâ. This is where I lost it entirely. âAlright Bitch, So you really donât care about his revenge or health. As long as you have the chance to get inside his pants, you are okay with it. So you are okay with Sasuke going to Orochimaru as long as you are with him..... Fucking Shit!!!!â  This is not okay at all.Â
How did Sasuke respond?
âWhy should I have to tell you anythingâ
âIâm telling you to keep your nose out of my businessâ
âStop bothering me over everything I doâ
Ummm..... where I come from, this screams âIrritationâ to me. Added to it, throughout the whole conversation he never saw her face. There was evidently no pain or anything from his face. On top the cake, here comes the cherry
âYou really are...annoyingâ
This is where he saw her face throughout that painful confession before knocking her out. Umm... When you love someone or atleast feel for someone, you will look in their eyes and speak some farewell words before you leave. Or atleast show some pain??? Thereâs visibly nothing from Sasukeâs face.Â
Alright, I know what SS wankers will pull out here. That Databook 2 with some vague words. I am going to throw this at them.Â
Again, like I acknowledged before, he considers her as a comrade and part of a family. So, her existence also eased his loneliness. But you have to look at the word choice here. âThe one that filled his lonely existence was Sakuraâ. Itâs not the âOnlyâ person. Before he left he said âThanksâ. Meaning, Thanks for all these days. Thatâs all between us.Â
This piece was about the Team 7 picture. So he acknowledges, he was not alone during his genin days because of his companions and Kakashi (so itâs not just Sakura to ease his loneliness). Whatever he said to Sakura was real.Â
So can we safely confirm âYouâre annoyingâ is real????
But whatâs really interesting is the way Sasuke projects himself before Naruto. I am going to refrain myself from attaching all those rollercoaster of emotions flowed throughout the fight in VoTE 1. Otherwise, it will become an SNS post.Â
However, this particular scene caught my attention.
Ummm.... Initially Sasuke walks without looking at Naruto. Then he looks back and answers him.Â
Naruto was pretty much asking the same question as Sakura. âWhy does it come to this?â
But Sasuke pauses and surprised for a moment and asks him pretty much âWhy do you care about me?â
Why couldnât Sasuke do the same with Sakura???? Kishi can pretty much make a panel or two rather than making some insulting panels.
Anyways, If they throw the databook, then I can also throw the same.
Alright, can someone explain the highlighted sentence for me???? Because I want to confirm whether I have a blurry vision.
Here, Sasuke is trying to punctuate Naruto as a different person from the rest of his companions. âhis companions as well as that with Narutoâ, I mean, Come on!!!! Naruto is also one of your companions along with Sakura. Why differentiate????
âThe village, companions, Naruto,....â . Again....He is differentiating his home (village), companions (his friends), and Naruto. So who is Naruto for him? What is the need to make exception for Naruto? Itâs very clear he is placing Naruto at a high pedestal for some unknown reasons.
Before this Databook dissection, remember I said something about saying Goodbye, â When you love someone or at least feel for someone, you will look into that personâs eyes and speak some farewell words before you leaveâ
Sasuke is doing exactly that here in this scene without saying anything.
Am sorry SS shippers, you can scream all you want about Sasuke knocked her out and left her on the bench. But there was no emotional distraught when he left her. Sasuke seemingly spent a longer time staring at Naruto than looking at Sakura when she confessed.Â
OROCHIMARU HIDEOUT
Well, there is nothing I can say about here for SS. He pretty much saw her and said, âSakura, huh?â.. And thatâs all. He didnât give two shits about her.Â
His attention was completely on someone else.Â
UNDER THE BRIDGE
She sent Naruto to get Sasuke for her benefits, so she can keep him. Again, disregarding Sasukeâs feelings and what he wanted. Naruto shouldâve said âIâll bring him back because HE wants too, to keep HIM safe, not for you.â
Naruto pretty much said the same thing in this arc, Larry. Naruto, in part 1, was happy for Sakura feeling the same about Sasuke as him, that is âTo bring him backâ. And also sad that his crush really loves someone else. But after Sakura gave up on Sasuke and faking her confession, Naruto decided, âAlright, I want to save him personally. I donât care about our promise anymoreâ.Â
This is where, SS ship goes into a crazy ride and itâs not a positive one.
Sasuke was on a rampage. He lost the ability to differentiate between his friends and foes. He stabbed Karin. And when he find her alive, he was about to Chidori her.Â
And then comes the pink princess, full of lies and deceit. And Sasuke being impatient and disgusted with her lies, he does this
Well, in part 1, she had a degree of power to change his heart. But not here. He, instead, got riled up more and even tried to kill her without a warning and that too by not looking at her face. Pathetic!!!!
This scene screams âTrust issuesâ from both sides.Â
Did it stop here???
Fucking Shit!!!!!! Is there any people who still ship this nonsense?. If you are a Sakura fan, you should hate her for the lack of trust and backstabbing the person she loves,Â
If you are a Sasuke fan, errrrmmm.....I have nothing to say. You know what to do.Â
There is nothing positive here, that can make me ship them. He is killing her like a Mosquito.
If you truly loved someone in the past, even in your darkest moments, you will be honest and you cannot fake before that person. Â
Proof??
Here, Sasuke had a clear resolve to kill his brother, Itachi. He lived for this moment for about 8 years and immersed himself in Darkness for 3 years with Orochimaru. He could have run away, dodge or look away from Itachi. But Sasuke simply couldnât!!! You know why?? Sasuke loved Itachi once more than anything in this world. At this moment, he is letting all those defense loose and embracing the moment and see what Itachi was about to do. Because somewhere in his heart he trusts Itachi.Â
But killing Sakura doesnât make Sasuke feel anything. She is just another victim like Danzo or Karin or all those Samurais or a fucking mosquito!!!!
So you are telling me that Sasuke had feelings for her but kept it hidden all along and still tried to kill her like a pest???
Give me a fucking break!!!!
And you all know, who changed Sasukeâs heart here in this scene. It was not Sakura. Thereâs absolutely no reason for Sasuke to listen to that person and whatâs more, Sasuke even made a promise (despite being in darkness, he had it in his heart to listen to that person) to destroy Konoha only after killing that person ..Â
WAR ARC
Well, this is the arc where Sakura behaves like a rabid dog on heat waiting for Sasuke and shamelessly trying to wag her tails. But Sasuke didnât give two shits about her, not once or twice but multiple times.
MOMENT 1
An explosion was about to kill the whole shinobi alliance and this dude wants to save Jugo, his companion and Naruto, the person who will challenge his Revolution, his rival and the one whom he wants to kill. Why only Naruto??? Why not Naruto and Sakura???
Pink cherry Queen doesnât even crossed Sasukeâs mind. Because he already threw her away in part 1.Â
MOMENT 2
Alright Bitch!!! The entire shinobi alliance was dying on the other side of the battlefield. And this asshole is doing a clownshow before Madara just to get inside Sasukeâs pants????
I mean, Come On!!!!Â
Well, if Sasuke truly likes her, he should be the one to have catched her or atleast should have asked her, âare you alright??âÂ
I am sorry, where are the romantic feelings???
MOMENT 3
ROFLLLLđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
For the first time, Kishimoto is trolling those Sakutards through Sasukeâs words, what we, readers were right about all along. He is calling her useless here. And still these fake feminazis trying to ship her with him???
Donât you guys have any self respect??? If so, this should be the moment to jump out of this trash ship.
MOMENT 4
Geez!!! You are still on this ship?????Â
He clearly doesnât want to save her at all. The hawk can clearly lift 3 people. Sasuke is not even making an effort here.Â
And you are still yapping that he is blinded by darkness???Â
MOMENT 5
This is the moment SS calls it as âeyesmexâ... While in reality, he was just looking at her and silently thanking her for helping him out. Do you know what is a real âeyesmexâ??? I will attach it at the end.
If you guys pull this as true love, then he should have stayed in the same love till the end. But Sasuke has other ideas.Â
This is the one of the funniest thing in this arc. LOLLLLL
Instead of being relieved that Sakura was saved, Sasuke was wondering about Kakashiâs Susanoo.....and Sharingan.Â
Do people still think he cares about her????
MOMENT 6
Am cackling here, while dissecting the sorry state of this ship guys đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł!!!! If something good happens to me because of SS , itâs just the way you guys are making me laugh by making a clown out of yourself!!!!
Do you guys know something? There was a man named Itachi. Before massacring his clan, the very first person he killed was his âsupposedâ Girlfriend, named Izumi. I wouldnât say Itachi loved her like a lover boy. It was just one sided on her part. He just talks to her when he finds a spare time and considers her a good friend.Â
Do you know how he killed her?Â
By putting her in a âTsukuyomiâ. And what kind of Tsukuyomi, you ask?
Can you see how he fulfilled her dreams gracefully before he was going to kill her???
Why didnât Sasuke do this???? Why particularly select a murdering genjutsu????
MOMENT 7
He said it, finally.
He donât love her at all. There was no hidden feelings. He admitted from his own mouth.Â
One day later, after the final VoTE battle ends.... After exchanging some intense feelings and even crying tears of happiness with Naruto....
Sasuke tells Sakura, âSorryâ....
Ummm.... Thatâs all???
All those negative shits happened before cannot be solved by just simply saying âSorryâ and âThank youâ. If someone has an ounce of self-respect, they should know this is not OKAY at all...đ
đťââď¸đ
đťââď¸đ
đťââď¸đ
đťââď¸
Am Sorry, but Sasuke was just being politely blunt, kind of insincere towards Sakura and turned his attention somewhere else in a matter of minutes. He was not even bothered by Sakuraâs tears here. Instead staring at someone on his left. Remember I talked about touching the person physically and visually?
Sasuke is subconsciously or purposefully touching someone on his left through his eyes. Definitely itâs not Sakura. You know who it is. Remember SStardsâ infamous âeyesmexâ... I seriously believe this is a perfect example of âeyesmexâ.
All these intense looks and feeling pain still doesnât serve Sakura, even after pulled out of darkness. If there is a moment, where SS wants to shine, then this is where it should be. He should have told her, how he missed her all along, how he felt about hurting her, should have wiped her tears and some corny shit. But instead, Sasuke went for a long ass monologue for his friend and talking about sharing his pain.Â
What about your kweenâs pain????Â
You donât have to ship SNS. But you should know where Sasukeâs priorities are.Â
Itâs not Sakura.Â
Sasuke said âSorryâ to Karin too. âThank youâ to Kakashi as well.Â
And whatâs even more pathetic is, still Sakura wants to get inside Sasukeâs pants by accompanying him. Bitch, you can help your village, console your best friend Ino who lost her father, try to surpass Tsunade, improve your skills or whatever... Why bother him???
So, if you really think âThank youâ as a token of love, then I canât help it but term Sakura as a rabid dog who waits for her master to come home and throw some bones whenever he finds time. Your standards for a romantic love is piss poor and you will suffer just like Sakura in Boruto with just emptiness. All Sasuke did was poke her forehead just like Itachi which symbolizes keeping someone at a distance. He also said the same words to her just like Itachi said to him many times âMata kondo daâ meaning âMaybe next timeâ. And we all knew that next time never came for Sasuke.Â
Now all we see is a Sasuke as an absentee father in Boruto for which I donât blame him. He was never a marriage material in the first place. Sakura and the Manga Editors forced him and she is paying for it.Â
Hell, Sarada doesnât know how her own father looks like or the truth of her mother. Both of them were miserable and I find it absolutely ridiculous when SS shippers still say âtheyâre in loveâ or theyâre OTP.
All I want to say to SS shippers is, Your Ship Has Sailed Already. You cannot expect Sasuke to go lovey dovey towards Sakura with a 12 year old daughter around and for fuckâs sake, this is not a romance manga, itâs a battle manga. So stop dreaming about this kind of non-existential romance and pull yourself altogether.

Naruto AU - Shuji Uchiha Scenarios Part 1
Shuji Uchiha is the adoptive brother of Naruto Uzumaki. And the half-brother of Sasuke Uchiha and Itachi Uchiha from their motherâs side, and half-brother Shisui Uchiha from their fatherâs side. And as well as my OC.
-Pre OS-
Mikoto Uchiha adopted Naruto but has to move out of the Uchiha Distract and into the late 4th Hokage Minato and his wife Kushinaâs with the newborn child. Over a while, an Uchiha man was given permission to help Mikoto. The Uchiha man is the father of Shisui Uchiha. They accidently conceive a child, the child was named Shuji. Weeks after Shuji was born, his birth father died.
While growing up, Shuji had a big brother worship towards Shisui as Sasuke towards Itachi. Shuji and Sasuke tend to argue whoâs the better big brother, Shisui or Itachi. However out of all his big brothers, Shuji actually favors Naruto because Naruto took the time to listen to him and play with him. Shuji is also seem patient with Itachi than Sasuke is. Even if Shuji likes Shisui better, he looks up to Itachi. And Shuji even considers Sasuke to be most relatable.
Shuji even met Izumi, Itachiâs lover. Shuji sees Izumi as a big sister-figure, mainly due to Shuji not being as stingy as Sasuke especially when it comes to Itachi.
Shuji is practically a mamaâs boy, he is always seen with his mother Mikoto. Shuji learn about not just cooking and cleaning, but learn about Mikotoâs fighting skills at a very high level. Mikoto is a role-model to Shuji.
Shuji doesnât get along with his stepfather Fugaku. Mainly due to Fugaku not being the type to open up his feelings and being a hardass.
Shuji, in-person, witness the death of his mother Mikoto and his big sister-figure Izumi in the hands of Itachi. Naruto was staying for afterschool after a prank gone messy. Shuji and Sasuke found each other as they see Itachi, as he spares them seeing the potential of them obtaining the Mangekyou Sharingan. Both Shuji and Sasuke try to fight off Itachi yet they had no progression. Shuji had to break down the news to Naruto about Mikotoâs demise.
Shuji did his best to enter the academy, to be with his remaining siblings, so he wouldnât be alone at the house. He was then accepted.
Shuji tries to convince Sasuke to move into his and Narutoâs house because theyâre family, and theyâre all thatâs left for each each other. Sasuke, however, prefer to live in an apartment, to which Shuji visits to keep his half-brother company and see how heâs doing. They train from time to time.
Shuji along with Naruto have been oppressed and discriminated by the Konoha villagers. Shuji has notice that this has happened before the Uchiha massecre, however now, itâs more nasty. Shuji simply doesnât understand why they hate him and his big brother but he definitely wish the villagers are dead.
While with Naruto, Shuji noticed a girl who has been looking from afar. The girl was Hinata Hyuga. To Shuji, she seems rather cute and nice. Shuji encourages Hinata to come and hang with him and Naruto. Shuji even noticed another girl, Hinataâs little sister Hanabi Hyuga, to which both Naruto and Shuji convinced her to stick around as well.
Shuji helps Naruto train, especially when it comes to preforming the ordinary beginner jutsus.
Shuji does make time to make food and clean, and Naruto does his share as well since the two are working together.
-Original Series-
Shuji and Sasuke may have hold resentment towards Itachi for what they did to their parents and clan. However, Shuji wants to put the revenge mission on hold. After all, thereâs nothing they can do for right now. Both he and Sasuke had some disagreements. Yet they still train together.
When Shuji sees that Naruto failed the graudation exams, he purposely funk himself so they could be ninjas another time. Shuji simply doesnât want to leave his big brotherâs side, until Naruto told Iruka that Shuji failed the graudation on purpose because he knows that they need the money.
When first meeting Konohamaru Sarutobi, Shuji thought he was some sort of strange kid even for the grandson of the 3rd Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi. Shuji, like Naruto, began to befriend Konohamaru. Naruto and Shuji played with Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon. Even invite Hanabi after convincing Hiashi that she needs to stimulate her mind in order to be an effective fighter. Itâs the only way to have her live her life better.
Instead of a three-man squad, itâll be four-man squad for each team: Team 7 - Naruto, Shuji, Hinata, & Sasuke Team 8 - Kiba, Shino, Sayuri, & [A new girl character, a non-clan one] Team 10 - Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, & [A new girl character, possibly a Sarutobi] Same could be said for Team Guy/Gai, and two more teams in the same year as them. One team would have three girls and one boy, both teams have females senseis
Shuji overheard some girlâs talk about Naruto, how she is badmouthing him as an orphan. Shuji pummels Sher to the ground. Enraged that someone is making of his brother after he and Shuji lost their mother.
When seeing heâs on the same team as his brothers and the girl he loves, Shuji was rather happy that they got to stick together. Shuji can fight along side with his relatives and his love, he reassures Hinata that they can all protect each other, they all have each otherâs back. Yet, Shuji couldnât help himself to protect Hinata (and his brothers).
When visiting the Hyuga District to pick up Hinata, Naruto and Shuji get violently angry at Hiashi for badmouthing his own daughter Hinata, being stopped by Kakashi. Hearing Hiashi says that Hinata is a âfailureâ and that the Hyuga, Shuji remarks that if she was a failure, sheâd be taking after him, a lousy good-for-nothing selfish man who is nothing more than someone who brought two girls into the world only to refuse to take responsibility as a father.
After seeing Hinata having a bad situation at her household, Shuji offers to invites Hinata to his and Narutoâs house, at least dinner so he could cook, maybe once every afternoon as a getaway and to get to know each other.
There are times in B rank missions that Shuji ends up in trouble to which Hinata comes to his aid, although, Shuji isnât upset. Shuji is, in fact, happy to see Hinata becoming stronger and more confident.
Shuji would even help out Naruto and Sasuke from danger as well, especially if it seems over his head, yet he doesnât want to bear losing his only family he has left.
Shuji would grow from 1 tomoe at the early of the original series, to 1-&-2 tomoe, then 2 tomoe at the middle, later 2-&-3 tomoe, and then fully mature 3 tomoe at the end of the original series.
Shuji did run into Orochimaru at a different place and time, possibly on a mission soon before the Chunin Exams arc with a mix members on Shujiâs part. However, unlike with Sasuke who woke with the power up, Shuji woke up yet he is technically dying but manage to fight on.
It was until later on, Shuji was at deathâs door compare to Sasuke when receiving the Curse Mark, until something alerting happens to either of his brothers or Hinata. Shuji finally overcomes the markâs effects on him and began to have a murderous anger.
When Shuji sees how horrible Neji went through, being enslaved with a mark that can kill you, losing a parent, all that at such a young age. All the while, Shuji holds a grudge against Neji for looking for an opportunity to kill Hinata, yet Shuji still sympathize Neji.
Shuji sees that Gaara, like his big brother Naruto, a special power (although, itâs the power of a Tailed Beast) to which his own village fears and hates him for something that canât be helped, yet also sees that Gaara got it worse than him and Naruto especially since he has his own father trying to kill him, unable to communicate with his siblings properly. Shuji pities Gaara.
After the Invasion on Konoha by Suna and Oto, Shujiâs speech patterns became more aggressive, especially after the mark reactivates. In Japanese, at first, Shujiâs 1st person pronoun was âBokuâ, then it became âOreâ, to show how aggressive Shuji became.
Shuji begins to see that things between him and Hinata arenât going anywhere. He sees Hinata showing more visible affections towards Naruto.
Shuji and Neji are having a rocky relationship. Until later on, when Hinata becomes temporarily blind, seeing Neji took care of her and even go out to help her condition, Shuji finally fully forgives and trusts Neji, and even tells Neji whatâs on his mind, which is vowing that he will find a way to free him and the Side Branch family.
When he and Sasuke heard that Itachi return, and is after his big brother Naruto, Shuji was scared and furious. By the time he and Sasuke run into Hinata, Shuji explains to her on the way that Naruto is in danger and that they need to find Naruto as quickly as possible.
Shuji have to remind Sasuke that they have to run away with Naruto and nothing more, they canât take on Itachi since he did defeat Kakashi. By the time, they did met up with Itachi, Shuji tries to think of how to escape with Naruto, only to see Sasuke charges at Itachi with a Chidori with Shuji thinking âWhat a dumbassâ. Shuji tries to help Sasuke out but Itachi beats the crap out of Shuji and put him in a coma as well.
By the time both Shuji and Sasuke woke up from their coma, like Sasuke, Shuji became different than he was before. Shuji became rather moody, bitter, and has guilt. The encounter with Itachi and Kisame haunts him. He, his brothers, and Hinata were in a no-way-out situation to which they all could get killed. Shuji tries to rationalize and justify his failure only to see the fact he wasnât good enough. Shuji finally begins to see why Sasuke couldnât put the revenge mission on hold, so Shuji then train with Sasuke more than ever.
Naruto and the others began to see Shuji is becoming more and more bitter after each mission and those missions was that they either failed or even success through dumb luck. Especially since he and Naruto seen the suffering and unfortunate events in different places. Shuji ask them how many times they are going to get beaten before they wise up and they realize that being a ninja isnât a game. Think of Leo from TMNT 2003 Season 4, I admit he was a jerk but he has his reasons.
When Kakashi told Shuji let go of his revenge like Shuji did once before he was put into a coma. Shuji told him that he didnât let go, he put it on hold, and that Itachi plan to take his older brother Naruto away from him. Shuji already lost his mother, his big sister figure Izumi, and eldest brother Shisui, he not planning to let Itachi go around free. Kakashi tells him that he too lost his loved ones and he only look into the past. However, unlike Sasuke, Shuji doesnât buy it, his response is âyou no longer seek retribution? You dishonor your loved ones. I will honor the memory of my fallenâ.
Well, thatâs it for the scenarios for Shuji Uchiha for now. I might have more plans for him, some I having a bit of a mix feeling, but Iâll discuss them another time. Until then, see ya.

Sasusaku Fan-fiction AU Lawers Rated MÂ
FF.net   Link to Chapter 1
Chapter 5
Naruto walked out to his porch, to find Sakura and Sasuke having an amicably conversation, which made him glad, not only because he didnât want to lose any of them in the firm, just imagining how difficult the office would become if these two didnât make up made his head spin, but also because he was concerned for Sakura, Sasuke could be a complete asshole sometimes, but Naruto knew his heart was in the right place, he usually didnât mean the insults he threw around.
âThere you are Sakura-chan, come back in, Hinata wanted to show you some baby picturesâ Naruto said to the pinkette.
âYeah, comingâ Sakura responded to the blond, then turn over to look at Sasuke one more time before going back inside. âYou need to ice that, bring down the swellingâ
âSoâŚ? Everything Ok now?â he asked his brooding friend after Sakura was gone.
âSure. I thinkâ Sasuke replied. Although he wasnât, really. There were many things going on in his life right then, things he needed to figure out, starting with what he had found in Karinâs bed, and the fact that instead, all he could think of was Sakuraâs delicate hand touching him, it was very concerning for him. Iâm messed up. He thought
âYou think? You did tell her you are sorry, right?â Naruto asked, crossing his arms around his chest and closing his eyes, trying to figure out this whole drama.
âYeah⌠were on friendly terms Iâd sayâ
âFriendly huh? Thatâs unlike youâ his blond friend mentioned.
âAnd what makes you say that?â Sasuke questioned.
âYouâre a bit of aâŚâ dick he wanted to say but decided against that. âLoner⌠ I remember when we hired Shino it took you a whole year to learn his name, and even then, you barely even acknowledge him, itâs like you didnât even noticed he was thereâ
âThatâs because I didnât notice he was there, heâs too quiet!âŚâ Sasuke defended and continued. âbut⌠I should tell you something, I guessâŚâ Sasuke began, trying to find the best words to describe his past relationship to Sakura. âSakura and I know each other⌠from beforeâ
âYou do? FromâŚ?â Naruto asked, confused and scratching the side of his cheek.
Sasuke took a deep breath, formulating the best response he thought necessary to give Naruto. The two men didnât have any secrets from each other, at least not intentionally, Naruto had definitely earned Sasukeâs trust, he had saved him from a life of criminal activity Sasuke didnât know how to disentangle from. But this, his past with Sakura felt too personal, too intimate to share. Even so, this was Naruto, and Naruto always managed to get the truth out of him, one way or the other, so Sasuke choose the path of least resistance.
âSakura and I used to be togetherâ The Uchiha said quietly.
âHuh? Together like together? when?â why Sasuke always felt the need to give Naruto incomplete information, he never knew.
âWe were together back in high school, before I left, I hadnât seen her sinceâ he offered in explanation.
âNo Freaking Way!â the metaphorical gears started to turn inside Naruto, he started to remember his last own love confession to Sakura, during their Junior year in college.
It had never been a secret that Naruto was in love with Sakura, they spent every free moment they had together, and during the third year in college, during a drunken bender, he began to question her about her feelings.
âI just⌠love you so much Sakura⌠why donât you want meâŚ?â He couldnât bring himself to care what he sounded like under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol.
âI do love you NarutoâŚâ Sakura said as she hugged him gently. âItâs just⌠not the way you do⌠or deserve⌠Iâm broken Narutoâ
âYouâre not broken Sakura-chan⌠you are ⌠you are perfectâ He drunkenly offered.
âNaruto⌠I used to be in love with someone else⌠he left⌠he abandoned me, he left me in the middle of the road, all alone, to go doâŚdoesnât matter, the thing is I havenât gotten over that. And you canât wait for me to do⌠not when there is someone wonderful waiting for you and youâre too stupid to notice. Please just⌠notice herâ She seemed to sober up by explaining.
âWait! Are you the asshole who abandoned her in the middle of the road? How the fuck?â Naruto marbled at the improbability of the whole affair.
âShe told youâŚâ it wasnât a question; it was a statement mostly to himself.
âYeah mentioned it back in the day, ya know? Who wouldâve thought were the prickhole? thatâs what we used to call you back in college by the wayâ
âDid she say why?â Sasuke asked, wondering how much Naruto already knew about his past.
âNo, but I can imagineâ Naruto said, remembering first the time he met Sasuke, handcuffed to his hospital bed, police officer standing watch at the door, bloody bandages covering the remnant stump where his left arm had been.
Sasuke was the very first pro bono case, Narutoâs godfather made him take right after graduating law school. According to Jiraiya, he was just a kid, and he showed a lot of promise. apparently, he was some kind of genius who had just made all the wrong decisions in his life.
âHe reminds me of youâ His godfather had said. âA kid without a family, heâs got the same look on his face you had when I got you. Makes me think what wouldâve happened if youâd stayed all by yourselfâ
Naruto made a commitment to his godfather, and to himself then, to help get this guy out of whatever mess heâd gotten himself into. Starting with the law, Sasuke was wanted for being associated with a motorcycle gang suspected of dealing guns in the black market, between other more gruesome things speculated. He was caught fleeing the scene of suspected arson, a police cruiser had rear-ended him on the road, casing the motorcycle Sasuke was riding to slid under an 18-wheeler. He was extremely lucky to be alive; he was told by the doctors.
âYou need to tell me everything so that I can help you, ya knowâ Naruto had said, taking a seat next to the black-haired guyâs hospital bed.
âI donât need some kid attorney to represent meâ Sasuke responded with disdain.
âgrrrrâŚ. You really do get on my nerves ya know? And weâre the same age assholeâ Naruto responded; heâd memorized Sasukeâs file a soon as he got it. But he was going to need more than his background to help him. âI think we can get you out of this easily, no matter what you did, that police officer shouldnât have rear-ended you like that, we can get all of this thrown away claiming police brutality, I mean you lost your damned armâŚâ
âI donât want your goddamned help!â Sasuke lashed out at him.
âIt doesnât matter if you do, you have it, deal with itâ Naruto said, standing up from where he was seated and taking one last look at the 22-year-old man in bed, before leaving him.
There was something about him that made Naruto not want to give up on him. His godfather had been right, he reminded him of himself, but a different version, a version of himself who had just given up hope things will get better. He couldnât handle that.
He was there throughout Sasukeâs entire recovery. Everyday seated by his bed, talking about anything, where Sasuke mostly stayed quiet, but more present than any attorney would have ever been for a client. He paid all of his medical bills and years forward of rehabilitation therapy. And when Sasuke questioned him about it, finally deigning himself to offer a word to the blond attorney, he simply said âHave a lot of money, inheritance ya know? Donât know what to do with itâ and shrug him off. Â
It sounded supercilious, as if bragging about how much money he had, but Sasuke understood the meaning behind the words, inheritance⌠He was alone too. He later learned that Naruto had lost his parents at a young age. Going up and down the foster care system until his godparent was able to get custody. Even then he was nothing but trouble, until he reformed himself. Stipulations left by his late parents mentioned he needed a college degree to be able to get access to his inheritance.
âAt first it was all for the money, ya know?â Naruto told him sadly. âBut then I started to make friends, real friends who were smart and made me want to be better for them tooâ
âI donât have any friendsâ Sasuke answered. He had people he used for his means. And while Orochimaru claimed, everyone who entered the Brotherhood, as he called the gang, was like family, he never gave a damn about any of them. He didnât have anyone he wanted to be better for, not anymore.
âWell you do now.â The blond one gave him a smile that for some strange reason made him want to smile too. âNow how about you tell your friend why you joined a gang?â
âAssholeâ Sasuke exhaled, irritated at how stupid that line was.  He fisted he bedspread of the cheap motel he was currently living in with his sole remaining hand and began âI was 8 when my parents passed away, leaving my brother to raise me, he was only a few years older, but we did good for some time, then he left me too, just out and left, didnât even get a reason or goodbye, just one day⌠he was gone, I had to keep that a secret if I didnât want to be put in the system and keep my parents home. After I graduated from high school, I found that he died. Orochimaru came to me then, said that Itachi had joined the Brotherhood and was killed by a rival gang. He offered me a chance to get revenge. I took it. My brother was a good man, he didnât deserve to die, I didnât understand why heâd even joined the Brotherhood in the first place, I guess I joined too to figure that one outâ
âIs that what you want, to get revenge? No matter what happens to you?â Naruto asked him.
âI donât even know what I want, I donât have anything else to doâ Sasuke responded.
âI can help you figure out what happened to your brother Sasuke, and get justice, not revenge but justice, you donât have to throw your life away for thatâ He offered.
x
âDoes Karin know that?â Naruto wondered about Sasukeâs wife, with both girls working at the office, and how dramatic Karin tended to be, drama was bound to ensue.
Sasuke shook his head no. âI hadnât seen Sakura until you brought her to interview, and I never told Karinâ
âShould we keep it that way?â
âI donât know, it doesnât matter either wayâ Leaving a crying Sakura in the middle of a dark empty road had been one of the biggest regrets of his life. It was a terrible thing to do to a girl, but he needed to be terrible, otherwise she wouldnât have let go. And with Karin, he didnât currently feel like opening up about his past to her, besides she was keeping secrets of her own.
âWell she works with us now; we donât need that kind of drama around the officeâ Naruto said. âJust⌠try to be nice to Sakura, or at least your normally aloof self, sheâs a good person, and a good asset for the company, she doesnât need you mistreating her like that, I care about herâ
âIâm a professional, if youâre suggesting I canât keep it that wayâŚâ Â
Naruto interrupted him. âYou know very damned well what I mean assholeâ
And he did, he didnât exactly keep it professional when he called her a whore. He still had the feeling he needed to make amends for that. He didnât know how or why, but he would try, it was the least Sakura deserved of him, and he knew, but he simply told his friend âYeahâ and went back inside. Â
