Stop demonizing wasps
Just leave them alone please
#they're just like any other bug#they defend themselves if they feel threatened#they might be more confrontative than bees#but that's mainly cus bees die if they sting#wasps don't#they're as important as any other insect#they regulate poblations are polinizators and are food for other animals#they only attack bees from then and there and not always#they also eat other insect because most of them are carnivorous#but don't endanger bees#(OBVIOUSLY I'M TALKING ABOUT NATIVE WASPS)#(INVASIVE WASPS ARE BAD OFC)#also please BEES AREN'T THE ONLY IMPORTANT INSECTS#ALL INSECTS ARE IMPORTANT#AND NOT ALL BEES ARE HONEY BEES#MOST BEE SPECIES DON'T MAKE HONEY BUT PPL DON'T TALK ABOUT THEM BC “THEY AREN'T USEFUL FOR HUMANS”#then they will call themselves “animalists”#but they kill any animla that isn't a mammal or a cute bird#kys <3#bugs#wasps#entomology#not art

found this Baeus sp. wasp in a vial of assorted tiny wasps (this one was the tiniest so I’m feeling lucky I even saw it) and got to database it with my own ID on it! I love whipping this species out whenever people say they hate wasps because this one is definitely hard to hate.
#wasps#wasp#hymenoptera#insect#bug#entomology#baeus#for the record all wasps are lovely and cute and important and don’t deserve the hate!!!!#baeus was my stepping stone to loving wasps after being scared of them

#religion#bugs#insects#animals#this whole talking point is so important to me as a christian#the idea that all life forms have souls but only humans need to work to reconnect with spirituality because this is the price of sapience#and that no living thing is inherently worse or worth less than another

Another day, another suspiciously yellow and black animal showing up that i have named Bill.
This poor injured swallowtail was in the backyard, so i offered him a variety of flowers then moved him to a safe spot since i cant really do more to help him. He kept trying to climb my arms, but i politely asked him not to try to crawl on my face and i think he agreed.
When I was grabbing some flowers down the road, there was also a flock of goldfinches flitting around the thistles to add to my yellow-animals tally, but i couldn't get any good pics of them.
Between the goldfinches that have shown back up for the first time since june, this butterfly, and Bill the Caterpillar (who has since crawled off somewhere), I'm starting to debate whether spending the past 2 weeks joking about being possessed by bill cipher was a good idea.
Also i came face to face with a deer while out alone last night and i didn't like the way she took a step toward me when i held my hand out. She bowed to me so i bowed back and after about a minute of staring she decided to wander away.
#starting to fear that im living in a bill cipher themed arg#i am taking every pain to be as nice to all of these freaky animals as possible fjdklsa#just in case#id be nice to them anyway but it feels especially important now#i also usually wouldnt pick up a butterfly but his wings are already too messed up for me to really do damage : (#im learning that if you joke about gravity falls being real enough and pretend to be paranoid#then that paranoia will quickly stop being a joke fjkdlsa#the deer especially freaked me out. theyre around here all the time and are very cute#but when you lift up your flashlight to see eyes shining at you directly at human eye level its kind of Freaky#i always try to bow back to the deer. just to be nice.#was lowkey highkey convinced that she was going to try to shake my hand with her weird little hoof#also i hope bill the caterpillar is safe wherever he went#and that bill the butterfly enjoys at least one of the flowers. i wish i could do more for him but i dont have an enclosure : (#seriously though if i get possessed.... oops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#cute animals#insects#bugs#other things#fluffle talks#not tagging this as anything but i used the show name in the tags so itll probably show up somewhere anyway fjkdsla

FINALLY had the time to watch a bit of Nimona before work. The first 30 minutes felt so familiar, and I didn't know why. The dialog, the animation, the humor, the wackness of the characters, yet serious storyline, mixed in with this cuteness vibe. The way the eyes and expressions were animated looked so familiar that I couldn't put my finger on it. Heck, the way they designed the animals looked so familiar, and their soundtrack too.
It bothered me all day at work. And then I see this on Tumblr........
IT'S MY CHILDHOOD!!!
No wonder it felt familiar! I kid you not, I had to hold in so many tears during work when I found out. Ice Age was my entire childhood. The reason I started my passion in writing. Along where my value for love and morals about family came from. Same for Rio! Finding your roots and falling in love with your culture. That film was too cute. Robots with their message on classism. Hortan hears a Who! I have found memories of watching that and valuing life. Seriously, look up Hortan Hears a Who, We Are Here. And listen to that part of the soundtrack. It's beautiful. I am who I am because of Blue Sky Studios. I wasn't allowed to watch Disney as a kid, so Blue Sky Studio's were one the only films I did watch. But I am so thankful for that. The studio always made films about love, the value of life, and peace. I believe in love, peace, and justice because of this studio.
The fact that Nimona is a piece of my childhood studio that survived. It makes me tear up! I'll always be disappointed in Disney for getting rid of them. There are so many emotions. And the fact that so much heart was put into this film. And it kept that Blue Sky charm the studio always had. The love, the need for peace and justice. The film is so beautiful and I only saw 30 minutes of it so far! I'm gonna finish it tonight with my siblings. Oh man, I'm gonna ugly cry knowing this fact about the film. I'll give my thoughts on the film soon. Let me just get emotions under control.
#nimona netflix#nimona movie#nimona#blue sky#you have no idea hiw important this studio is to me#this is the studio that kept me enspired as a kid#taught me to value love#to value all living beings no matter how small#to bring justice to those who need it#i can't even describe it#I grew up on a household where I was locked up and never allowed outside without supervision#so all my morals#and values came from ice age and every other Blue Sky Studio film#along with passion#I still listen to the “We Are Here” part in the Horton hears a Who soundtrack#it's so beautiful#and the film is the reason I value every little life like insects#also I cried when I stepped on a snail once#so thats how much I valued every life growing up 😅#i just cant#i want to cry#so many emotions right now

I haven't watched Dungeon Meshi yet and I'm already so invested because of you fucks. And it's ongoing so I can't even look up the ending. If the lesbians don't get a happy ending I'll cry.
#i saw on the wiki that one of them does have a male potential love interest but it also says that he fell in love bc of her autistic swag#so yknow what fair. me too dude#i too would fall in love with a woman infodumping about insects. he has a good head on his shoulders#nah but also she might Die Horribly bc she came back wrong and thats more concerning#however it ends i hope its written well thats most important. crying might be worth it if its a good tragedy. but it has to be earned#it better be good (happy) or good (earned) thats all i want for my blorbos in law

Here's an analysis on gonta that I really like
https://www.tumblr.com/unweavinglies/624144216037244928/gonta-gokuhara-character-analysis-when-a-genius?source=share
YES I've seen this analysis around before it's very good. Although I don't necessarily agree with all of it, I really appreciate the depth OP went into with it, its really well written and thought out!
#pluto answers#I kinda disagree about himiko babying gonta in trial 4.. i always interpreted that part as her saying that to herself#that gonta happened to hear (next to her) and got confused that way#Also I feel like ch2 kokichi gonta dynamic is a teensy bit more nuanced than “gonta was completely going along with kokichi”#because yes he was aware and all for kokichi's plan to trade motives#but he did not realize that was happening at the insect meet n greet... and kokichi still said some pretty cruel things about him#to the others there#Its important to me that Gonta is still naive and very implicitly trusting of others which causes him to get fucked over sometimes#And that youre not “stupid” if you dont immediately understand things because youve had no exposure to normal society for 10 years#but they're right that gonta is MUCH smarter than a lot of people give him credit for#so overall. good post

the week in bugs! well. mostly beetles and one true bug. who was in my bathroom sink. rude.
dogbane beetle (Chrysochus auratus), black firefly (Lucidota atra), flower beetle (Glipa oculata), some kind of big june bug with the cutest :3 face, and masked hunter (Reduvius personatus). true bugs like to be bitey so that one got the cup and cardboard express route outside.
#insects#bugs#(general catch-all tag)#it is important to keep a spare cup and cover in the bathroom for Surprise Sink Creatures

I really think it's disappointing that we have all just accepted bug as the catch-all term for small invertebrate. not even because it's inaccurate, not even because Hemiptera is my Best Friend, but because you guys are all ignoring the objectively better word. creepy crawly is right there!!! it's right there and you are still calling a millipede a bug? DISAPPOINTING. you guys are No Fun. 😤
#bugs#insects#creepy crawlies#the creepy part is important too.#I have a whole thing i need to figure out with how it was horror media that really got me over my fear of leeches and similar#while look how cool and cute this animal is type content is useful and good#my brain is most fluent in the language of fear. if you don't say it in that same language i won't really internalize it all the way.

petition for every state that has the european honey bee as their state insect (except utah; i feel they're committed to the honey bee life) to change their state insect to a bee species native to the state. if minnesota can have the rusty patched bumblebee as their state bee, we can all do better
#and by we i don't actually mean we because my state insect is not the honey bee#it's something equally generic: the monarch butterfly#but like... alabama arkansas georgia kentucky louisiana maine mississippi missouri nebraska new jersey north carolina oklahoma south dakota#tennessee vermont west virginia and wisconsin all need to do better#because it's unoriginal. it's not even a native specie. they can all do better than this#especially since changing it could help in bringing awareness to native bees. because believe it or not. they're really damn important#even if they're not agricultural in the sense that they produce honey they pollinate our crops so they grow and shit!#apis mellifera? more like apis get the hellifera out of the spot as state insect for every single state#i like honey bees but. not in this context. it's over done#bees#i don't have any specific suggestions but i'm sure we could make something happen

I answered yes because I don't really look beyond, is it yellow and black striped, and did it sting me? I understand the likelihood of it having been an actual bee, particularly a honeybee, is low, but I just kind of call all creatures that look like that bees. I think the stinging guys near me are usually wasps. I still have no idea what the difference is between wasps and hornets. I don't really care to know either lol, I pretty much divide them into Nice Bees (bumblebees, honeybees) and Evil Bees 🤣
have you ever been stung by a bee?
#I am probably inviting vitriol from fans of these insects and environmental crusaders or whatever#and I understand that all them are ecologically important#but like. I don't care. I will be mad at a thing that stings me.

i do not pity israel. never have, and never will.
each night that gaza experiences is deadlier than the last, as idf soldiers record propaganda tiktoks, make rave parties and grwms and fit checks, gloat over having food and water, and film themselves deriving sadistic pleasure from torturing their hostages and victims and desecrating the dead.
Palestinians have to display their martyred before the camera for you to believe the atrocities that the zionist entity has subjected them to. they cannot even mourn in private. the apartheid entity murders them in cold blood, and you deliver the killing blow by doubting them.
babies whose families have been killed will never get to know their own name.
i can't reshare a tenth of the videos and photos that cross my timeline. i have seen more dead children in the past month than i have known death my entire life.
israeli settlers burn olive trees, bomb bakeries and fishing boats, shower white phosphorus and earthquake bombs on the captive civilians of gaza. you already know about the disastrous effects of white phosphorus, but earthquake bombs were last used during ww2 to wipe out entire cities.
how holy is the land that seeks to be built over the mass graves of thousands of children? is it holier than the miracle of a child being born in this hypocritical world?
all 11 universities in gaza have been bombed. academics should be agitating right now, especially those who call themselves "decolonial thinkers." destruction of universities is a sinisterly deliberate act to sabotage the Palestinians who will survive this great catastrophe.
the act of cleansing your hands before prayer is extremely important to muslims. no part of us can remotely comprehend the grief of the mother who refused to wash her hands from the blood of her children after losing them in a zionist airstrike over gaza. "I swear I won't wash them, I won't wash my hands, how else am I supposed to sleep near my kids."
it is only both moral and right when one side defends itself. the other side are the price of war, no better than insects and cattle and sheep left to die within the four walls of the slaughterhouse.
this situation should not be up for debate, but let me finish with one final thing : do your research about Palestine. HOWEVER. you do not need a degree in middle east studies to object to an ongoing genocide. if someone outwits you in a debate about historical details and every nuance of a subject, you were and will remain entirely correct in objecting to a genocide.
may those martyred rest in peace and be reunited again with their loved ones in heaven's eternal vastness.
DO NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT PALESTINE.
glory to Palestinian resistance. from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
#free palestine#palestine#gaza#free gaza#gaza under attack#gaza genocide#genocide#decolonisation#gaza strip#from the river to the sea palestine will be free
