90s grunge, no wave, shoegaze, noise pop out of Sonora, MX. This album is a gem (it's in English). Their Spanish language songs are cool too.

Mad Doctor of Blood Island (Tomb of the Living Dead, 1969)

Order of the Garter
The Most Noble Order of the Garter is the highest order of knighthood in Britain and the most exclusive with traditionally only 24 knights as full members at any one time, along with the reigning monarch and the Prince of Wales. Created by Edward III of England c. 1348 CE, the chivalric order was one of the first of a growing trend where rulers and noble knights sought to differentiate themselves from the increasing number of knights in the late medieval period. The order's annual gathering at Saint George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, with its magnificent procession of members and retainers in full regalia, maintains the traditions of pomp and pageantry for which the Middle Ages are rightly famous.
Origins
The Order of the Garter was created by the English monarch Edward III (r. 1327-1377 CE) around 1348 CE and dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint George. The king was still in a celebratory mood after England's famous victory over a much bigger French army at the Battle of Crécy in August 1346 CE and was eager to further emphasise the nation's martial prowess by creating an elite order of knights. In addition, by the 14th century CE, the number of knights had greatly increased so that the upper ranks of the nobility began to look for some way in which they could differentiate themselves from other knights and create a sort of private members club. These elite brotherhoods were designed to also pull together the greatest fighters and most useful military knowledge and experience so that in times of war the order would prove a useful part of the army's command structure. Finally, such secular chivalric orders were a good way for a sovereign to ensure the loyalty of their best knights who otherwise may have joined an order whose members, instead, swore allegiance to the church (the then-defunct Knights Templar being an example of such an order).
The Order of the Garter was the first of such chivalric orders in England, but there had been several already formed elsewhere, notably the Order of the Sash by King Alfonso XI of Castile and Leon (r. 1313-1350 CE) and the Order of Saint Catherine in France, both founded during the 1330s CE. The pomp and ceremony of the Order of the Garter was something more, though, and it would spawn many other famous orders at home and abroad such as the Order of the Golden Fleece, created by Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy (1419-1467 CE) in 1430 CE.
Just like the legendary Round Table of King Arthur, the order of the Garter was, from the outset, intended to be a very exclusive club indeed. Its first two members were Edward III himself and his son, Edward the Black Prince and Prince of Wales. Alongside this pair were 24 knights, known as Companions of the Order of the Garter, all of whom had fought at the Battle of Crécy. Each member was granted the right to wear a dark blue garter as a symbol of their membership and new rank. A specific coat of arms was created for the order, which includes the flag of Saint George enclosed in a circle made up of a garter. Besides the knights, there were 26 priests and 26 'poor knights' (faith and charity being great chivalric ideals) who were expected to pray for the souls of the more illustrious full members, although they did receive free clothes, food, and lodgings at Windsor castle.

ROYAL WEDDING UPDATE: FAMILIAR FACES ARRIVE AT BRINDLETON ABBEY
It's most definitely a ROYAL wedding!
Guests have started to arrive for Gus and Anya's big day and some of them are quite familiar, especially to long-term royal fans!
Tumblr media
Among the first to arrive were Prince Liam and Princess Marisse of Glimmerbrook. The couple happen to be good friends with The Crown Princess, and the latter was there during their wedding a few years ago.
The King and Queen of Sulani also graced the red carpet. Queen Marguerite paid homage to Brindleton by rocking a bright blue coat dress and matching accessories. Her Majesty has struck quite a friendship with The Crown Princess when the latter made her first official overseas tour to Sulani about a decade ago.
Tumblr media
A pregnant Princess and a pregnant Queen were also photographed arriving at the Abbey. Princess Katrine, accompanied by her new husband, was blooming in violet. Her Royal Highness is pregnant with their first child, and is said to be in her first trimester. Princess Katrine, who used to date Prince Alistair, is good friends with both the Crown Princess and Princess Ingrid.
Selvadorada's Queen Julia, meanwhile, is in her second trimester. Her Majesty is expecting her third child with King Ishmael. Crown Princess Anya is actually the godmother of their eldest child, Princess Amara.
Tumblr media
Speaking of "Selvadorada," King Ishmael's younger brother, Prince Alfonso (a.k.a Prince Fonsi), arrived separately. The handsome Prince and Crown Princess Anya go way back, first meeting as university students in Rennaux. The two were also romantically linked for years, but neither confirmed the rumours.
Interestingly enough, tennis superstar Sir Sterling Guildford was next to arrive. Sir Sterling, like Prince Fonsi, was also rumoured to have dated The Crown Princess. The stories, however, were never confirmed to be true.
Tumblr media
Al-Simhara's teen monarch, King Hakim surprised royal watchers everywhere when he arrived at the Abbey. Relations between the Al-Simharan Royal Family and the Brindleton Royal Family are said to be "strained," which can be traced back to then Crown Princess Emilia's broken engagement (once upon a time, our Queen was engaged to King Hakim's father, the late King Phillip), all the way to the drama that surrounded Eleanore and Ibrahim's two engagements and subsequent marriage. However, a certain degree of civility appears to be maintained, at least for official occasions. Crown Princess Anya represented Brindleton during the late King's funeral. For what it's worth, the young King Hakim seems to have nothing against Anya and the other Brindleton royals. The same probably can't be said about his brother Ibrahim and his sister-in-law, Eleanore, though.
Tumblr media
The Crown Princess Gianna of Tartosa, and her husband, Prince Armando, were also present for the occasion. Her Royal Highness recently gave birth to their first child a few months ago. The Tartosan royal couple, especially the Crown Princess, is great friends with Crown Princess Anya. Anya has credited Gianna for being the "matchmaker" that brought her back together with Gus.
Rennaux was also well-represented. The Rennauxi Queen, Josephine, accompanied by her Prince Consort and her daughter, Crown Princess Theodora, also walked the red carpet after arriving via one of the state limousines. Queen Josephine is Prince Jacques' eldest sister, which makes her the bride's paternal aunt.
Tumblr media
The "royal cousins" were also in full force! The usually elusive Holm brothers showed up to support Anya. Luke was accompanied by his wife, Penny. Leon was also joined by his wife, Lady Chloe. Luke's son is a page boy, while Leon's daughter is one of Anya's bridesmaids.
Empress Alice's daughters from her first marriage were also present. First to arrive was Olivia Dorsey-Chegeya, along with her husband, PM Khari of Zauvuria. The Duke and Duchess of Fjord (Emily and Garrett) followed close by. Olivia and Khari's son is one of the page boys, while Emily and Garrett's daughter is a bridesmaid.
Tumblr media
Last but definitely not the least, Empress Alice and Emperor Kenji also walked down the red carpet. They were joined by the Emperor's daughter from his first marriage, Hanna, Princess Royal. The wedding marks Princess Hanna's first big international event. The lovely young lady looked beautiful in a blue maxi dress, which she accessorised with a bejewelled fascinator.
Stay tuned for more royal wedding updates and arrivals!

Women’s History Meme || Sibling Relationships (1/5) ↬ Berenguela, reina de Léon y de Castilla and Blanca de Castilla, reine de France
Queen Berenguela of Castile (1180–1246) was, in her lifetime and for some time thereafter, a dominant figure on the political landscape of the kingdoms of Castile and Leon. She typified the medieval elite woman whose ordained role in life was to be a wife and mother. The political circumstances of her native Castile, however, complicated and even enhanced Berenguela’s reproductive responsibilities. As the eldest daughter of Alfonso VIII of Castile and his wife Leonor of England, Berenguela was at different points in her young life the presumed heir to the throne. The Castilians adhered to the Visigothic principle of partible inheritance. Although favoring sons, this principle meant that daughters had a claim to inheritance. Therefore, it was possible for a woman to inherit the throne when a male heir was lacking as had happened with Alfonso VI’s daughter Urraca in 1109 and with Berenguela in 1217. Berenguela’s awareness of and concern for her own lineage derived not only from a strong, involved identification with her natal family, based on her position as her father’s daughter, but also from her awareness of her own self as an element of that lineage. Her experiences and activities can be usefully contextualized by those of her numerous and important sisters, especially Urraca, Blanche, Leonor, and Constanza. They show ways in which Berenguela was like other elite women; indeed, her life could have turned out very much like one of theirs. Despite their individual circumstances, together they help demonstrate ways in which Berenguela was and was not alone in her experiences of family, marriage, motherhood, religion, and, above all, gender. Furthermore, the sisters were key elements of Berenguela’s family; throughout their lives, they remained in contact, if only for seemingly political reasons at times. Family visits, the fostering of children, and prayers for the dead suggest affective bonds as well as a deep sensibility of filial and sisterly piety among the members of this family. Berenguela’s sister Blanca (1188–1252) is better known as Blanche of Castile, queen of France, one of the most famous women of the Middle Ages. From the time of her marriage to the French heir Louis, Blanche was destined for significance, even if only as another female link in the seemingly miraculous chain of male inheritance that had secured the Capetian throne for generations. Three years after Blanche’s husband Louis became king, he was dead, and Blanche became regent both for her young son, Louis IX, and for the kingdom of France. Blanche became queen of France at a time when the institution of queenship seems to have undergone a shift, becoming increasingly relegated to the private, domestic world of the queen’s own household; at the very least, there is a change in the way documentation presented the queen’s activities at court. Although Blanche’s own political experiences were particular to her Capetian context, examining the several parallels between her experiences and those of her sister Berenguela points to certain consistencies in thirteenth-century royal motherhood and queenship. — Berenguela of Castile (1180–1246) and Political Women in the High Middle Ages by Miriam Shadis [old version]

In many cases it's difficult to find contemporary art of their period, so some of the portrayals are subsequent.
1) Ferdinand III of Castile (1199/1201 – 1252), son of Alfonso IX of Leon and his wife Berenguela I of Castile
2) Alfonso IX of Leon (1171 – 1230), son of Ferdinand II of Leon and his wife Urraca of Portugal; with Berenguela I of Castile (1179/ 1180 – 1246), daughter of Alfonso VIII of Castile and his wife Eleanor of England
3) Blanche of Castile (1188 – 1252), daughter of Alfonso VIII of Castile and his wife Eleanor of England
4) Henry I of Castile (1204– 6 June 1217), son of Alfonso VIII of Castile and his wife Eleanor of England
5) Urraca of Castile (1186/ 1187 – 1220), daughter of Alfonso VIII of Castile and his wife Eleanor of England
6) Ferdinand of Leon (ca. 1192 – 1214), son of Alfonso IX of Leon and his wife Theresa of Portugal
7) Elisabeth of Swabia (1205 – 1235), daughter of Philip of Swabia and Irene Angelina
8) Alfonso X of Castile (1221 – 1284), son of Ferdinand III of Castile and his wife Elisabeth of Swabia
9) Philip of Castile (1231- 1274), son of Ferdinand III of Castile and his wife Elisabeth of Swabia
10) Eleanor of Castile (1241- 1290) daughter of Ferdinand III of Castile and his wife Joan of Ponthieu: with Edward I of England ( 1239 – 1307), son of Henry III of England and his wife Eleanor of Provence
Note: The marriage of Alfonso IX's parents got also annulled/declared void due to consanguinity, but I didn't include him on the list because this example is already present in Ferdinand III & IV

Who is more powerful Isabella of Castile or Ferdinand of Aragon ? Or they have same power ? Are they only joint monarchs of Spain ?
I think it depends on how you look at it… Isabella was the sole owner of the Crown of Castile, which was bigger and richer than the Crown of Aragon, but Ferdinand became its co-ruler on the account of his marriage to her. (It’s worth mentioning he had his own claim, but Isabella’s was stronger.) He was the sole owner and ruler of the Crown of Aragon, Isabella was just his consort, making him the embodiment of the union between the two kingdoms. His interests in Italy made him a rival to be reckoned with, and his influence in Castile certainly enhanced his chances to win.
Isabella enhanced his power, and he helped her to get the throne and establish herself as queen since she wasn’t the obvious heir by any means. I think they were very powerful together and no one of them could be as powerful on their own.
There was another couple, Urraca I of Leon and Alfonso I of Aragon, she was the queen of Leon and Castile and he was the king of Aragon, but they didn’t get along and didn’t build anything together, so I will say Isabella and Ferdinand were the only joint rulers of the lands that formed Spain.
