Okay, we already know that Richie’s fear was people finding out he was gay. It probably also had to do with the stigma around it at that time. During the 80’s AIDS was huge and everyone saw gay people as disgusting, Richie was terrified of being seen as disgusting and unlovable. He was probably terrified of Eddie finding out because Eddie was such a germaphobe. Eddie was probably also a bug germaphobe during that time because HE felt unclean because he also knew he was gay and felt sick.

World Aids Day
"It is bad enough that people are dying of AIDS, but no one should die of ignorance." - Elizabeth Taylor. This World Aids Day, come together to support individuals who are living with HIV, fight HIV together, and remember those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. And commit to ensuring the rights of those living with HIV, putting an end to new cases of the disease, and combating stigma and prejudice against those living with the virus.

My cousin was born with HIV because of a lack of awareness of sexual diseases both from my uncle (who had sex with his wife without a condom and contracted it) and his wife born in Nigeria. The West’s impact on the sexual education, virginity and homosexuality in particular, has caused some of these problems and we need to think about that. She was born in 2003 and they thought straight people at that time didn’t need to worry. It needs to be remembered, and taught about outside of a history classroom! The LGBT community still thinks about it if they have queer friends and family and are supported, but straight people for the most part don’t. It is a human diseases not a gay disease or the dieses of an addict. if we combat stigma against the groups the world claims it is impacting the most( to this day) then they won’t get HIV, in all likelihood, and the spread through straight people would hold less shame too. If we say that virginity isn’t real then sex isn’t shameful and more open conversations can be held with AFAB people about protecting themselves, and men wouldn’t think they are a young woman’s first time and would think being married protects them or blame the woman. We would all be more aware of sex and the consequences and people who want sex would have more open conversations about their sexual history without shame.

I wrote “My Government Means to Kill Me,” a novel about a 🏳️‍🌈 Black man coming of age in NYC in the midst of the AIDS epidemic, in part because we lost so many amazing artists to AIDS and so many stories were left untold.
For World AIDS Day, I wanted to celebrate the lives and incredible work of talented 🏳️‍🌈 writers that we lost too soon.

🎗️ Dr. Kush Hospital stands against HIV/AIDS on World AIDS Day. Together for awareness, compassion, and a healthier future. 💙 It's a day of reflection, awareness, and collective action as we stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with those affected. Our mission is clear: to foster a stigma-free world, promote awareness, and extend compassionate support to all individuals impacted by this global health challenge.
At Dr. Kush Hospital, we recognize the critical importance of education and understanding in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We aim to empower our community with knowledge, dispel myths, and encourage open conversations surrounding prevention, testing, and treatment.
This day serves as a poignant reminder of the progress made and the work that lies ahead. Dr. Kush Hospital remains committed to advancing medical research, enhancing patient care, and contributing to the global efforts aimed at eradicating HIV/AIDS.
As we mark World AIDS Day, let us collectively acknowledge the resilience of those affected, honor the memories of those we have lost, and renew our commitment to a future free from stigma and discrimination. Together, we can make a difference. 💙
