This drama was SO delicious! It gives us everything including bodyguard romance with gender reversal.

But also, I may or may not have screamed at this. This is very early on (ep 4 out of a 51 ep show) and Togon is far from what he will end up being, in good and bad, by the end (one of the reasons I love long shows is they allow us gradual character development) but just like his aborted attempt at escape in ep 2, this shows that there is more there than the weak prince - he wants to learn how to defend himself. That's a vvvv good sign. (Or if you are El Temur, a bad one.)

She says no:

I love how you see how freaking determined he can be even this early on and how he doesn't really have sane limits when he's desperate or wants something badly enough. Because she says no so he literally starts banging his head as hard as he can on the wooden table, using his own injury as a bargaining chip - she's supposed to protect him, what happens if he's injured or killed.

This honestly sums up how much of a puppet he is (best case scenario, the default is to be murdered when time is right) - he's the heir to the empire created by the freaking Mongol Horde and he doesn't even know how to fight!!! And it's clearly not because he wasn't interested.
