However, the window for it to stay open is short, and they needed to act fast.) ͙͘͡★Don’t try to understand ͙͘͡★(Jasmine was willing to risk herself for him, telling him she'll let him get through while she found another way out. Thomas looks at her fearfully, but slumped his shoulders as he kissed her, bidding her farewell.) ͙͘͡★You weren’t here ͙͘͡★("I love you so much, never forget me." He whispered, pushing her at the last second before time ran out.) ͙͘͡★Read the papers ͙͘͡★(Tears filled her eyes as she just realized that Thomas sacrificed himself for her. He pushed her to safety so she wouldn't risk her life.) ͙͘͡★Made it to the news, dad ͙͘͡★(She screamed as she reached out for him, the tears blurring her vision by the second) ͙͘͡★Are you proud of me ͙͘͡★(Thomas smiled weakly as his eyes blurred from the tears, just happy his true love will get a second chance at life) ͙͘͡★yet͙͘͡★ (he turned around, meeting his boss's gaze)

͙͘͡★Guess I doubt it ͙͘͡★(He glared at him, the phantom taking over once again as he attacked his superior) ͙͘͡★Everyone has a reason for trying ͙͘͡★(As the flames grew, Thomas kept throwing attacks at him, trying to rid of the evil from this Earth.) ͙͘͡★Everyone has a reason for fighting ͙͘͡★(Maverick grabbed his gun, ready to finish off the man once and for all) ͙͘͡★Fuck buying flowers! ͙͘͡★(Jasmine kicked and sobbed as she tried to get out of Ryan's grasp, desperately trying to get back to Thomas) ͙͘͡★I want you to move on ͙͘͡★(Ryan's own heart kept breaking, not wanting to leave him either, but knowing it would risk the lives of the kids, so he had to keep pushing) ͙͘͡★Take a bus to nowhere ͙͘͡★(The group ran through the flames, desperately trying to reach Ashlyn) ͙͘͡★Anywhere that’s not here ͙͘͡★(Ashlyn stood in the room, wishing the flames would consume her already as she clenched her fist) ͙͘͡★Somewhere far away͙͘͡★ (Thomas felt the blood leave his body, but he wouldn't give up until Maverick was down) ͙͘͡★Bring all our friends ͙͘͡★(the rest of the gang held onto the items, Alex holding the main one with Aiden) ͙͘͡★Just don’t think about me ͙͘͡★(Ashlyn fell to the ground, screaming as the memories came back to her. She needed to free her friends. She needed to rid of herself) ͙͘͡★Never feel sorry ͙͘͡★(Maverick held the gun to Thomas's head, smiling as he laughed like a maniac) ͙͘͡★Everyone wants to cling onto life ͙͘͡★(Shots of all the better times. Been thinking about Ford watching the 70s Animated Lord of the Rings Movies... (companion comic to this post!)

#the other two VHS tapes Fidd's is holding are Rankin-Bass' The Hobbit (1977) and Return of the King (1980)! The 70s animated pseudo-trilogy!#A lot of people pointed out on my other lotr 'crossover' post that Ford would have seen the 70s movies!#And i wont lie i entirely forgot they existed. But now i remember i have so many feelings on it okay. Ford my silly LOTR nerd #I dont think he would have seen Bashkis in theaters. far as I can tell it was a VERY limited (likely mostly CA) run in the middle of winter #but Rankin-Bass'? 'Enjoy it despite its flaws' is one thing, but Mass Effect somehow invented its own category: 'simultaneously one of the most flawed and the most well-crafted sci-fi stories I've ever experienced'. These games are incredible. They’re the worst. All the women are sexualized. All the women have deeply flawed and complex personalities without being either demonized or romanticized. The first available f/f ship seems to be written along the guidelines of 'what would a straight man find hot'. As the games go on, they effortlessly include multiple same sex romance options given just as much care and development as the the opposite sex ones. You can play as a xenophobic murderhobo asshole. You can play as someone genuinely caring but also harsh, who inspires growth and co-operation wherever you go but who makes hard choices when you have to. You can kill civilians and punch reporters and commit genocide. You can stop a generational war and mediate peace and save several species from extinction. The robots are stereotypically evil cannon fodder. The robots are deeply complex with a tragic history. Your team mates are assholes with xenophobic opinions or justifications for police brutality and genocide, or they just want excuses to Do Murder. You team mates are deeply flawed and can be urged to grow alongside you. The most important aliens are all humanoids. There are plant aliens and jellyfish aliens and insect aliens and elephant aliens and aliens who can’t share an atmosphere with us. You have to drive around countless identically boring planets with little to show for it. You get to discover hidden secrets and civilisations millions of years old and live through some of the most emotionally harrowing scenes in storytelling history. I am going absolutely insane about it.

#mass effect #up next let me talk about how andromedas biggest flaw (not perceived flaw but ACTUAL flaw) is how it lacks these highs and lows #sure it doesn’t fall into the same problematic tropes as the trilogy sometimes does #but in its fear to take risks it also fails to hit the highs of when the risks pays off #nella talks

Sometimes I think about the commentary track where Alex Hirsch explains his choice to have all of Stan's memories come back more or less immediately in the finale. He said that, if he'd written the final goodbye scene so that Stan only half remembered the twins, then he could have made audiences cry. The thing is, the point of Gravity Falls isn't to make people cry, it's to show the relationship between the Pines's, and especially between Stan and the kids.

I know we love angst on here, but that wouldn't have fit the canon of Gravity Falls. In this show, everything ends happy because the Pines family got over their issues and put it all on the line to save each other, and that's why we all come back every summer. Gravity Falls proved time and time again that the only way to "win" at storytelling is to care about the characters and give them what they deserve, no matter what people think or what technically makes sense.
