We can still make rocket engines tho, like we can't make the Rockedyne F-1 anymore for a variety of reasons including it's wicked outdated by this point, particularly since the fall of the soviet union introduced staged combustion to western engineering techniques, but it isn't some great tragedy that we can't make that particular rocket engine tbqh, we can still make rocket engines.

quick question: do you also consider more rare/obscure punctuation marks (e.g. ¿¡‽†«»[{}])? and i actually have another question, sorry--do you differentiate between m-dashes, n-dashes and hyphens? because i personally barely know the difference between them; but then again, i would assume you're more knowledgeable on these things, seeing as how you are the "punctuation-completionist"*!
* although i guess technically you aren't even the actual completionist in these scenarios. you're just checking whether or not other people are completionist... (< hang on, final question: is an ellipsis a separate punctuation mark? or is it just a bunch of periods?)
. ? ! , : ; ' " - ... [ ] { } ( ) / <
18/22
bonus:
* † ¡ ¿ ‽
5/21
guillemet bonus! («») +2
Well, I'm sure that answers most of your questions... but, to put it out in plain writing: I absolutely count ellipses as their own thing, I do count more obscure punctuation (though through the bonus list or similar methods), and I count em dashes, en dashes, and hyphens as separate (though only if the actual symbol is in the post; for example -- would count as a hyphen but — is an em dash since it's just easier for me).
Also! if you want to know the difference between the dashes, I've got you covered! I made a post explaining the difference a couple years back:

heyyyyyy (gayly) are you aware that everyone on twitter is constantly raving about leave the light on? I know you're not on there (or you don't have it linked idk) but I feel like you should know how beloved it is, I've seen like four people today alone talking about it 😭 I was wondering how you feel about inspired by fics? I have a buck/bobby scene from just after Eddie gets back that's bouncing around my brain that I'd love to write if you'd be okay with it?
You're correct I'm not on twitter lol
But yes, I was informed by the utterly shocking kudos email from AO3 this morning that Something was afoot, thank you for letting me know it was twitter!
My only opinion about "inspired by" fics or podfics or translations or any other adaptations of any of my fics is that so long as they make good use of AO3's built in systems to link back to the original fic, they're all absolutely solid! It's lovely to know that anything I wrote entered back into the creative cycle in such a way as to inspire someone else to write, too.
I hope you have a lovely day!

I don't like debating much(unless necessary for the sake of my own humanity) but sometimes it can be really Really fun specifically if it's about something that has absolutely no real weight to it(and yet if you were a spectator it might cause some concern for whatever reason)
for example: would you rather be threatened(physically mentally or emotionally take your pick) by a can of corn or a cob of corn?
Me personally I'd pick cob for a few reasons
1. I can outlast it(probably)
Fresh corn will eventually rot and decay but have you seen how long canned stuff can last unopened before it looks slightly different from new stuff??
2. Cans are made of metal not vegetable flesh
While a corn cob has its core that's not metal. Ever dropped a can? Might get a dent. If you have a good kick then you might survive but you will probably hurt your foot. Ever dropped corn? If it had it outer leaves and hair it might have stood a chance but if it didn't then bits of corn go everywhere
3. Actually fighting if needed
I feel like I could survive a fight with a sentient can but a sentient cob just seems less likely to hurt
However there are some things might change my decision
Like issue one which is how the corn moves because if the cob is fresh with hair and leaves and can move all the little hairs individually and can move the leaves then I'd probably choose the can because at that point I feel like it's less of "how would i survive with the least amount of bruising" and more of "how would I rather die but with a chance of surviving" and in my opinion i think blunt force trauma would be better then a slow death of strangulation via a sentient corns hair plus I do think I'd have a chance against a can of corn
Another issue is if it was mentally or emotionally I'd probably go with the can bc I feel like it would be easier for to rationalize it as ridiculous to be threatened by a can of corn then a cob for some reason
Like a cob is ridiculous to the point that I'd just accept it as making sense for that to happen?
a can is like "why am I listening to the can of corn. I literally own a can opener." But a cob is more like "if I were to try and deal with you in the traditional way of dealing with corn that would mean a pot and water and time and-"
Plus idk why but I feel like a cob would be less mean with its words. I can't explain it I just think cob would just go straight to physical threats instead of emotional ones but a can would stare at you menacingly making you question yourself and just judging you
#the part where some might be concerned is the fact that after coming up with that scenario it took me 3 seconds to decide on my awnser#this corn convo scenario didnt actually happened but ive had many similar convos#this may or may not make any sense but thats the fun of it in my opinion :D#the other part that concerns people so i dont tend to say it out loud as much is the “how would you rather die” part#so many people are just so uncomfortable with death they try to avoid discussing it at any cost even though its somthing coming for us all#its kinda sad#like i do get it. its hard to not only accept but really think about death as a reality#people dont like it when something good can end so they try to avoid it and try to deny it#its hard to look at something that youve been ingrained to consider as “bad” and see it as anything else#i feel like recognizing the fact that something will end can help you cherish it more in the present#and if you can recognize the good and accept that it will end you can also morph that when thinking about the bad#life isnt simple and neither is death#bad moments come and good moments come and bad moments and good moments and bad moments and good moments ect#is it really so weird that i dont ignore it?#like im going to die eventually welcome to reality but thats not right now.#right now i have blood moving in my arteries and veins right now im breathing and blinking periodically#right now im still alive and i intend to do the most i can with whatever time i have even if im still fighting myself to do basic tasks#its kinda sad that so many people think its better to ignore that our time is limited#maybe its just the way i grew up#i didnt face death a lot but my family moved every few years and whenever i met another kid i used to know it was never the same person#we were both different in ways that made it seem like we were entirely new people#i had to get to know them a second time practically from scratch so every time either one of us left there was always a part of me that knew#when one of us left we were done#like sure we could get to know each other again but it would never be how it had been#we would be new people to each other#idk i think that made it easier for me to accept the existence of death and not taking things for granted#like stuff happens life goes on make the best of it and make friends with everyone possible while it lasts#idk sheesh this started as me being like “i like weird and slightly stupid debates” and ended as “i have opinions on peoples veiws of death”#whatever hope my point is made i guess. good job making it this far? give me stupid questions pls(also 30 tag limit who knew: me now)#brains rambles

TASK 005 — LET'S GET PHYSICAL.
HEIGHT: 6'3''.
AVERAGE WEIGHT: ~185lbs.
BODY TYPE: Muscular and athletic.
BODY TEMPERATURE: Runs slightly warm.
EYE COLOR: Dark brown.
EYESIGHT: Early signs of presbyopia.
HAIR COLOR: Dark brown, nearly black.
HAIR TEXTURE: 2c curls ( inspo ).
HAIR STYLE: Tighter kept sides and length on top ( inspo, inspo, inspo ).
FACIAL HAIR: Anywhere between a fuller beard and light stubble, never clean shaven. Mostly matching the color of his hair except for the patch of gray beginning to spread near his chin ( inspo, inspo ).
PROMINENT SCARS: One underneath his chin, about an inch in length, from when he tripped over a bundle of wires on stage and fell into his plugged-in keyboard intensely enough to require stitches ( inspo ).
SKIN TONE: Fair with warm undertones.
FRECKLES: Prominent along his entire body, most noticeable on his face and chest ( inspo, inspo ).
MOLES: Two on his right cheek and one on his forehead ( inspo ).
BIRTHMARKS: None.
TATTOOS:
— A cluster of amethyst crystals on the back of his left forearm, matching with the rest of the band ( inspo ). — A daffodil outline on the inside of his right bicep, Wales' flower ( inspo ). — A scorpion tattoo on his lower right thigh, usually hidden by his pants ( inspo ). — The 'birds of Rhiannon' on the outside of his left bicep ( inspo ). — Future tattoo plans include: A Fleetwood Mac inspired piece, something similar to the birds for Hattie to continue his sleeve, a note written in his father's handwriting, touching up his amethyst crystals . . .
PIERCINGS: None.
DOMINATING HAND: Ambidextrous, favoring his left.
ACCENT: Welsh English.
STYLE: Typically very plain. Business casual at work, but favoring garments like t-shirts / long-sleeves and sweatpants while at home. A regular day out running errands would warrant jeans in replacement of the sweatpants, or he'd also throw a button-up on top. There's no real rhyme or reason for any of his clothing, it's all just a mix-matched collection of things he's been given over the years ( inspo, inspo, inspo — work ) ( inspo, inspo, inspo — home ) ( inspo, inspo, inspo — causal ).
ACCESSORIES: A gold Rhiannon necklace from Awe Inspired, matching with Nilay — and eventually Rhia, when she's old enough to wear her pendant; it's slightly chipped and frosted thanks to the fact he's hardly taken it off in the past two years since he bought it ( inspo ). Other than that, he typically doesn't wear jewelry. He'll wear a baseball cap if he doesn't want to deal with his hair ( inspo ), and glasses when he works ( inspo ).
SHOE SIZE: 13 US.

this is a very dumb headline for what is actually a nice little meditation on the value of writing. nothing especially groundbreaking here esp for people who are already anti-generative AI in education but i want to save it as it might be interesting to teach a piece like this alongside a more pro-AI piece sometime.

Exam hit me with two concept that I've literally never heard of (or at least never been explained to me).
"semantic html" -> the <> with things like "img" and other clearly-defined content to them.
"dependency injection" -> a method that receives objects, instead of creating them from scratch (aka, literally how all of our programming is done).
Thankfully, they only amount to 15% of the exam-result, so hopefully I'll still pass?
#school#personal stuff#semantic html feels like such a pointless thing to ask about? like. who cares what you call the damn things.#that's like going into english class and asking you to explain the official words for ''...'' or similar non-words#instead of asking you about HOW TO READ.#dependency injection is more of a wtf moment. bcs like... teach? did you not explain the word for this?#did you just use it randomly and fast-forward through it enough that nobody managed to actually ask what the words mean?#(he might've explained it. but i'm pretty sure it doesn't show up in our actual video-materials. so... who knows how that'll go.)#we also got an ''arrange these concepts in the order that they happen'' which was DEFINITELY not covered.#when the fuck were we talking about IP-addresses? hmm? when was DNS mentioned?#i mean i could guess some of the order from the context of it all. but others were wild guesses. so... that's fun.#sooo... yeah. some of the questions were a bit difficult and others were easy. and some of it were just... semantics that don't matter#which sounds about right. i think my teacher might be something of a moron? and hopefully we can rake him over the coals for this.#(though i suppose that depends on if my lack of ''proper studying'' means that i just ''missed things'' that others didn't)#(but like. if NOBODY answers some of those questions correctly? then i feel like we should take him to task for those questions)#(either for him not actually teaching us about those concepts. or bcs they shouldn't have been in the damn exam to begin with)

how do you think wesker reacts to karl's knock-off magneto powers?
Honestly I feel like at first he’d be surprised, but also curious of how much he can really do with his powers. If it was past wesker he definitely would’ve wanted to run some crazy experiment on him. However past re5> (au) wesker would feel a sense of comfort being around another bio weapon like himself after hiding for over a decade. Plus he’d get him to use his powers for dumb stuff like fixing his truck/plumbing/etc. On the other hand, Karl’s reaction to wesker’s uroboros powers (works like dbd) he’d be immediately creeped out/disgusted but tries not to show it

going insane (again) i have an exam in three days and i wanted to start studying and i went through everything we need to know in an hour. AN HOUR. pathetic excuse of a class holy shit
#how do i 'study and dont go on tumblr' in these conditions#also (complaints incoming lmao sorry) this is for the statistics stuff again and they dont give us any extra exercises than the ones we had#to do for the graded tasks so like. cool. ive got 7 exercises i can use to practice and ive already done all of them and after ive done-#them again i will know all the answers so i cant redo them. great! this is how you teach a practical class yes thanks professor :))))#i can go on about this shit show of a class forever im sorry we didnt even have classes where they explained stuff we had to watch-#videos from the pandemic! which would be fine if the software we have to use wouldnt have had seven updates in the last years! we got-#feedback moments every other week *after* we had to turn in the assignment that *might* be graded for a bonus point (which i did get!-#take that!!) but like. oh you didnt understand the complicated stuff we never really explained? you can ask after youve been graded on the-#stuff you turned in - which is NOTHING because you didnt understand the first question because it was bullshit!#my friend was very funny i gotta admit because she very sweetly called the professor over and went im sorry sir :( but i couldnt turn it in#this time :( i really didnt understand the questions and the videos we got werent enough and the handbook didnt explain it any further-#either and i wanted to practice a bit before doing the POSSIBLY GRADED assignment but it seems there are no other exercises we could use-#will there be some in the coming weeks? because i just dont understand it with the very limited amount offered :((#and my professor got VERY awkward lmao because it turned out that this assignment was the one he graded because it was the hardest :) and-#many people didnt understand it so only 34 people out of the 170 taking the class got their bonus point :)) this is fine :)))))#snail speaks

@zeroabyss replied to your post “@zeroabyss replied to your post “Since I'm...”:
Yes dead. Rhea wouldn’t have given up the chase otherwise, nor is she implied to have dedicated any military force to finding him at any point innthe current days. We know they were eventually called the 10 Elites because Nemesis and the rest pretended Maurice was dead the moment he became a Beast and disappeared, and History likewise remembered it as only ten. Nothing in the game suggests Rhea thought Maurice was still out there, and she absolutely would not have let him live if she knew he was around due to knowing she made sure to hunt down the other ten.
Bear in mind in Nopes Maurice being part of the Elites is documented, and they later became the 10 Elites (rather than 10+1) because of the "curse" associated to that Crest.
The same book suggests Maurice became "unhinged" after a battle in Gronder - so before Tailtean?
Rhea hunting the Elites is, imo, fueled by both vengeance/retribution but also by the wish to recover whatever was left of her siblings - Maurice "slained" a Holy Warrior and was still hoarding Blutgang - Rhea wants to recover relics (it's the reason behind Constance and Yuri's paralogue in FE16 and it's mentionned in Balthus'!).
Imo, even if Maurice died in a ditch, Rhea would have wanted to "recover" the relic.
So, in a way, the hunt for Maurice should have been both a hunt to rekt him - if he was alive - and a hunt to recover what was left of Bob - the Nabatean who became Blutgang.
Now, in the modern times, we know there are rumours and legends about a demonic beast in Mircea's forest, I can't fathom Rhea/the CoS not knowing a thing about it (hell, why weren't they asked to deal with this issue?) so why wasn't she taking care of him?
As Rhea the Archbishop, maybe she mellowed a bit and adopts a more "reaction" approach, if a relic pops up she will acquire it, but she won't send her people look behind every rock and box if there's a relic inside.
But as Seiros the Warrior? The same Seiros who went to war and spent around 100 years to hunt Nemesis? Who continued to hunt the Elites after Nemesis' death? This Seiros would have let Maurice escape or Bob remain in the ditch Maurice died in (if Maurice died)?
I can't see it - unless there is some event that makes her drop the "Warrior" persona and adopt her more passive "Archbishop" persona - which is what this headcanon (lycaon's death) tried to explain :
Seiros the Warrior is so gung-ho on avenging her dead siblings and "recovering" them that she cannot protect the future (Lycaon's supposed golden rule and the happily ever after ending post WoH!) and the present (Lycaon as a person? Especially if he was her kid!), so Archbishop Rhea (and her many names!) will try to oversee the present - if there is a relic around she'll recover it but she won't exclusively focus on it and won't spare attention to Momo when there are people who currently need her help right now (just like relics though, if there is an opportunity or occasion where Archbishop Rhea can face Momo or meet him, he's dead meat) - and the future - her rez Sothis plan.
