Robin never really got boys talk.
When Sarah turned 14 she invited all the girls in band for a sleepover. It started out fun. After her parents went to bed they put on a creepy horror movie and watched it in a huge cuddle pile. They braided each other's hair and did each other's nails and squeezed each other during tense scenes and muffled their shrieks after a sudden jumpscare.
After that they watched another one. This time Sarah sneaked her mother's makeup kit down to the living room, and so lipstick and eyeshadow joined the mess of nail polish, hair clips and snacks already on the floor.
The second movie was different. In the first one, the blood was obviously fake and the acting wasn't the best (to say the least). But the second one was tense through and through. The cries of pain were so visceral that Robin shuddered, and in the end everyone was terrified. It was silently and unanimously agreed upon that everyone had had enough TV for the night. It was already 3 in the morning, but tomorrow was the weekend and right now Robin wouldn't be able to sleep even if she wanted to, and thus began Robin's first real boys talk.
It was funny at first. Sarah pretended to die of heartbreak when "the blond hot one" was unfortunately the second to die. Heather said the nerdy one with glasses and abs was cuter, which started a very heated discussion of whether blond or brown is the more attractive hair color. Robin had to defend her correct "redheads" opinion all by herself.
(When the others got into a stalemate Sarah turned to Robin. "C'mon", she pleaded, "you know that the blond one was hotter. Just tell us which one you found prettier! And don't forget that this is my birthday party."
Robin laughed at the ribbing, played a bit hard to get, until she finally admitted. "I actually found the first one who died the prettiest." Sarah was already halfway through her victory dance, when Robin corrected her. "No, I don't mean the dude. I mean the first one. The girl with the pink purse."
Everything was silent for a moment.
Then Emma laughed. "You don't have to be jealous Robin", she consoled, "you are also very pretty."
"Yeah, especially after our makeover!"
Robin laughed and agreed and continued on as if her world just hadn't been turned on its axis. Because she knew that the stirring in her gut and the beating of her heart had nothing to do with jealousy. She didn't find the blond one hot or the brunet one cute. That was the first time she really knew it. She liked the girl.)
It was a bit funny the first time, even though she couldn't really join. It got less funny the more it went on. Suddenly boys was the only thing everyone wanted to talk about. And worse: it wasn't just unreachable famous boys like singers or actors anymore. Suddenly it was all "oh, Steve Harrington is sooooo cute" or "oh my god, Tommy Hagan had suuuuuuch a glowup" and "I want to lick the sweat of his body after basketball practice" (this last one was applicable to multiple different people, including Steve and Tommy. It was not applicable for Chrissy when she exited cheerleading practice or Beth after football.)
She thought it would get better when Emma finally confessed to her crush and they actually got together, but no. It somehow got worse. Because "normal boy talk" turned into "experienced boy talk", and Robin wasn't allowed to admit that the only thing that got wet when she thought of Billy Hargrove was her mouth, because he made her want to throw up.
At first she'd say that she didn't have crushes. After a while of people refusing to believe her (even if she was telling the truth! Sometimes.) she started pretending to be into Steve Harrington. Every girl had a crush on Steve, so it made sense that she'd been embarrassed to admit that she was just like everybody else. He was way too far above her league for her friends to force her to "confess" and she could stare without fear when he passed by in the halls with the beautiful Tammy Thompson in his arms. Truly, it was a brilliant plan. It didn't stop the boys talk, though.
So she became a tomboy. She joined football and she hung out with boys and she cut her long hair into a bob. She lost a bit of touch with Emma and Sarah and the others, but she tried not to think about it too much. Instead she threw herself into sports and started hanging out more and more with Matt, the second trumpet in band.
And that was that. Sometimes she missed wearing dresses, but it was a relief not to have her mother insisting she "do something about that hair" anymore. She and Matt became best friends. She even considered telling him for a while. Until he sat her down and confessed his feelings.
She tried to let him down as gently as possible, and they never talked again. The cycle would repeat for multiple times.
Someone out there is laughing their ass off because who would have thought that the dude she pretended to have a crush on would turn out to be the missing half of her soul?
It started out like always. She teased him, he laughed. They suffered through customer service together. He was funny and surprisingly in touch with his emotions and apparently babysat a bunch of middle schoolers, which was equally hilarious and adorable to watch. They both enjoy sports and they both hate Billy Hargrove with a passion and Robin is heartbroken because she knows she can't get attached. She has already been through this too many times to allow it to happen again. She gets close with a guy, they become best friends, he confesses, she can't reciprocate, they never talk again.
This is what is going to happen. She should already be used to it, but it still hurts. It's better for her to keep her distance. To encourage him to flirt with other girls, even if she can see that he mostly does it to amuse her.
And then they uncover an actual real life Russian spy network right beneath their place of work like some fucking blockbuster. And then they are pumped up with drugs and the next thing she knows is that they are both throwing up in a cinema bathroom.
And then it happens. Of course it happens.
He starts his little speech and her heart is already breaking. She surprises herself when she realizes how much she started enjoying Steve's company. He is a dingus, but she is also a dingus and they just fit.
She is already preparing her apology in her head (oh fuck work is going to be so awkward), but what comes out instead is what she wishes she could've said every time this happened. What she wished she could have said every time she got close to another person, every time her parents questioned if she finally found a boyfriend. Something she really tried not to feel ashamed of, but it was so fucking hard when you had to keep it hidden all the time.
(She remembers when she used to train in front of the mirror. She would stare at herself and repeat again and again "I am Robin Buckley and I am a lesbian. I am a lesbian. I am-")
She doesn't breathe as she waits for what she knows what comes next. What has to come next. There is a reason she never told anyone, always kept it hidden and to herself even if she wanted to scream it into the world. He will mock her and he will out her and he will be disgusted and-
"Tammy Thompson?!"
Instead they have girls talk. And Robin finally gets it.

Avenger Lane Chapter 8: Finish Him!
“Your soul is mine!” You mimicked Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat.
“FINISH HIM!” the game announcer bellowed.
“Nooooo!” Beth shouted as Sub-Zero performed their fatality.
“Beth, your room is a mess!” You hear Quinn shouting from upstairs causing Ollie to sit up from his nap.
“Young lady, did you not clean it earlier when she asked you the first time?” You raised your brow pausing the video game you both were playing.
“Beth!” Quinn shouted from upstairs.
“Uh oh.” Fin giggled looking up from her drawing. “Mommy’s mad.”
“Well, go on.” You said taking her controller hearing her groan.
“Don’t play without me!” Beth shouted as she marched up stairs.
“I help Bethy.” Fin said racing after her, leaving her drawing behind.
You stood making your way to the garage grabbing your sheers you needed to tend to the gardens anyway. Right as you kneeled in front of your flower bed a certain redhead walked by.
“They’re beautiful.” Natasha smiled stopping next to you before crouching down.
“Beautiful flowers-” You cut a small bouquet. “For a beautiful lady.”
“Thank you.” She chuckled bashfully taking them from you.
“You're welcome.” you grinned before asking. “Off to Wanda’s? Or did you just wanna see me?”
“Well always happy to see you, but I am about to have a drink with Wanda.” She smiled. “Do you wanna join us?”
“No, I'm just messing with you. I'm waiting for Beth to finish her chores so we can go back to our video game marathon.”
“Oooh fun, I've never really played anything before besides what is at an arcade. Sometimes Pietro would convince us to skip school and join him at the arcade.”
“Woooow, bad student.” you both chuckled.
“I was a great student! How are you by the way?”
“Good; we took Beth to get registered at school earlier today. I can’t believe she’s starting the 6th grade already.”
“I bet, did she join any clubs?”
“Her mother really wants her to be a cheerleader.”
“You don’t?” She raised her brow.
“Not really.” You sighed setting your sheers down. “I just can’t see her doing that.”
“Does she want too?”
“Well it looks like her new friends are playing soccer. So now she’s on the fence.” You shrugged.
“Lyla’s pretty excited she’s played since she was a little girl.” Natasha added with a smile.
“Secretly, I want her in anything but cheer. I know how cheerleaders are, and I do not want my daughter to be like them.” You grumbled.
“Well they’re only in middle school.” Natasha smirked.
“Still.”
“Of course.” Natasha nodded standing up with a grin.
“Tell Wanda I said hi.” You grinned.
“I will. When are you going to tell Quinn about the job offer?” She raised her brow at you.
“I’m working up to it.” You mumbled.
“Hmhm.” She smirked walking off to the Maximoff residence smelling her flowers. “Thanks for the flowers.”
“Welcome!” You say back as you watch her smile at you before walking inside the Maximoff home.
“Look at that love sick look on your face.” Wanda laughed as she set two wine glasses down.
“Shut up.” She grumbled setting them down softly before taking the glass in her hand.
Natasha was too busy looking at her flowers to notice Wanda yelling at the boys to go outside.

You were tending to your garden with your phone playing an old Journey song in the back ground. You were jamming along when you heard Wanda’s boys run outside.
“What’s up boys!” You waved seeing the Maximoffs holding a football.
“Hi!” They waved excitedly.
“Can Beth come out and play?” Billy asks.
You sighed looking back at the house. “Well Beth is finishing up her chores but she can when she’s done.”
“Oh okay. Beth said you used to play football.” Tommy says looking at the flowers you were repotting.
“Four time state champ.” You smirked.
“That’s awesome! Mom, just signed us up today, but we don't really know how to play.” Billy says sadly.
“Will you teach us?” Tommy asked sweetly. “Please? When we asked our dad he thought it meant soccer.”
“Well soccer is great too!”
“But we wanna play football.” Billy sighed sadly.
“Please teach us.” Tommy pleaded.
“No…” the boy's looked down in disappointment. “but I’ll coach ya.” You teased with a wink.
The boys jumped up and down cheering.
 ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗
Wanda and Natasha were in the middle of a conversation when they heard the boys yelling. They ran outside only to see you teaching them how to tackle.
“Y/N, is so great with kids.” Wanda said, before taking a sip of her wine. “Ya know if Vis wasn’t such a great husband.” she shrugged jokingly.
Natasha glares playfully.
“I'm kidding!... Sort of.” Wanda laughed.
“Another thing that makes her undeniably attractive.” Natasha murmured watching you laugh wholeheartedly with the boys.
“Vis is going to be jealous if he sees this.” the taller woman murmured.
“What? That you’re ogling Y/N?” the shorter woman chuckled.
“No.” Wanda laughed, slapping her arm. “More so that Y/N is coaching our sons on how to play football. Vis tried but he grabbed a soccer ball, and the boys didn’t have the heart to tell him.” She sighed before looking over at you. “What is Y/N doing?”
You were lugging a large tractor tire towards the lawn.
“Okay you were right Y/N is really strong.” Wanda smirked watching your muscles flex as you flipped the tire.
“Can I try?!” She heard Tommy ask and you laughed.
“Be my guest.” You stepped aside as Tommy growled trying to move the tire but only nudged it.
“Oh this is adorable.” Wanda chuckled, taking out her phone once more to record the boys. “Come on Billy, you can do it!”
“Dad, what are you doing?” Beth asked suddenly next to you.
“Oh hey sweetheart!” You laying your hand on her tiny shoulder. “I'm just teaching the boys about football. They wanted to try and lift the tire before I hang it up.”
“Can I try?” Beth asked looking up at you.
“Of course.”
“Beth!” The boys waved her over explaining how heavy the tire is.
Beth remembered you throwing the tire and squatted down before using her legs to support the toss.
“That’s my daughter!” You cheered.
Beth blushed hearing everyone cheer for her.
You finally moved the tire where you wanted it using rope to tie it to the tree branch out on your lawn. You jumped from the tree taking the ball Billy handed you,
“The key to a perfect spiral is hand placement and foot work.” You showed them with one hand how you were holding it. You slowly showed each step in movement before throwing it right through the tire.
“Wow!” The boys gasped.
“I know right.” Beth grinned.
“Who wants to go first?” You grinned, taking the ball from Billy who ran to get it. “Thanks bud.”
“Hey Y/L/N!” Steve shouted from his driveway holding up his arms.
You stepped back angling yourself before grunting as you threw it straight in his arms.
“Yeah!” He chuckled before throwing it right back.
You jumped up catching it before landing back on the grass.
“That was so cool!” The boys gushed.
“Woooo! That’s a running back right there!” He clapped his hands cheering before he walked into his home.
“My turn! Beth shouted.
Soon Cassie and Morgan, and Monica joined in with the kids throwing perfect spirals.
“Okay but this is such a dad thing!” Carol giggled as she watched you coaching the kids. She and Val walked over to watch you and the kids with Wanda and Natasha. “She’s literally teaching the kids on the block.”
“It’s called Coaching.” Val smirked, taking a sip of her beer they brought over, nudging her wife. “That’s it sweetheart that’s the hustle!” Val clapped seeing Monica throw the ball through the tire.
Soon a car drove up it was Vis.
“Uh oh.” Wanda sighed.
Vis got out watching his boys being coached by you. He sighed sadly before trudging up the steps. “I see the boys asked Y/N to coach them.” He sighed.
“Oh Vis-“
“It’s quite alright darling. Y/N is a 4 time state champion. They seem to be learning a great deal. I’ll just go get washed up for dinner.” He made a mental note to return the book he purchased earlier that same day.
“Oof, he is definitely upset.” Val nodded.
“I’d give my vibrator to see Y/N in her old football uniform.” Carol fanned herself, ignoring the depressed Englishman to watch you run around with the kids.
“Oh my God, Carol!” Natasha chuckled before looking at Val.
“What? Y/N is hot. I wouldn’t mind them in our bed. Devils threesome and all.” Val shrugged. “Her wife is just as sexy, I can only imagine what goes on in that bedroom.” She laughed causing the women to giggle.
Natasha stayed silent clenching her legs knowing exactly what you were like as she recalled a memory.
“I’ve seen it.” Wanda blushed smiling as she bit her lip, breaking the comfortable silence.
“Shut up! You have not.” Carol scoffed.
“I did and let me just say Y/N, is very, very well endowed.” Wanda smirked while finishing her drink.
“I can confirm. Hung as a fucking horse” Val chuckled.
“How did you both even-“ Natasha began she was upset. How dare they oogle you… even though she used to do the same thing.
“Gym I saw the outline.”
“Quinn did this sexy strip tease for Y/N in the living room. It was like watching one of those nature shows I couldn’t look away. Y/N definitely knows how to work a woman, and Quinn knows how to work Y/N. All of Y/N.” She giggled.
“Damn Wands you watched them fuck?” Val furrowed her brows. “Have you ever seen Carol and I?”
“Once.” She giggled.
“Oh my God.” Val muttered.
“We’re getting black out curtains.” Carol murmured. “How did you see Y/N and not tell me though?”
“Are you kidding she made me feel…slightly emasculated. Why would I ever openly say that she’s bigger than-” Val scoffed.
“Oh baby, you shouldn’t ever feel that way.” Carol smirked sitting on Val’s lap giving her a kiss.
“Alright you two; reel it in.” Nat muttered, sipping her drink as they began to feel eachother up.
“Speak of the devil.” Wanda said, diverting her attention to the girls to Quinn who stepped out on her own porch.
“Dinner is ready.” Quinn smiled. “Beth, come wash up.”
“Aww but mom! Pop is coaching us!” Beth whined.
“Papa me too! Papa me too!” Fin ran out the door with your old football helmet.
You laughed watching her tumble down the steps the helmet breaking her fall.
“Fin, I told you to leave your papa’s things alone.”
“It’s ok Q.” You wink.
“Papa my turn!” Fin whined, holding out her tiny hands.
“Oh my gosh fine!” Beth huffed, throwing a spiral at her little sister.
“Beth.” You and Quinn said sternly after it bounced off of the helmet.
“Sorry.” Beth said meekly after her mother glared at her.
“You did great kiddo.” You say pushing the helmet up so she could see.
“Okay enough football for tonight let’s eat dinner. Beth take Fin and go wash up please.”
“Aww mom, one more round!”
“It’s alright Sweetheart I’m pretty hungry. You all were awesome today! It’s getting a little late so everyone go home, and wash up.” You turned waving towards the ladies watching.
The kids cheered before each one ran to their respective houses.
“Fin!” Beth huffed as Finley ran right behind the other kids to the Maximoff residence.
The kids cheered before each one ran to their respective houses.
“Natty!” Finley beamed from beneath the helmet.
“Hi Finny!”
“I’m like papa now!”
“I see that you did great!” Natasha smiles lifting your youngest on her lap.
Meanwhile the other neighborhood kids were gushing about their new fondness for football.
“Mom, did you see me?!” Billy gasped holding the football.
“Mom, that was so much fun!” Monica said, looking up at Carol and Val.
“Yeah it was! You did fantastic out there lieutenant trouble!” Carol grinned.
“How’s pizza sound for our little football player?” Val smirked.
“Yayyy!” Monica cheered.
“Mom did you see?!” Tommy panted, his hair crazy and sweaty..
“I did sweetie you and your brother are naturals.” Wanda smiled sweetly, pushing his wet sweaty hair back. “Did you thank coach Y/L/N?”
“Yes momma.” They nodded.
“Billy and I are gonna make coach Y/L/N a tshirt tomorrow in art class!” Tommy grinned.
“That’s really thoughtful. Boys, go on and take showers, dinner will be ready soon.”
“Bye neighbors!” The boys shouted to the women drinking on their porch before racing one another to the shower.
“Hi Miss Nat, Fin, come on, we have to go back home for dinner.” Beth
“Hi Beth.” Natasha smiled at Quinn’s mini clone.
“Neh, I stay with Natty.”
“Oh you’ll stay with me?” Natasha chuckled looking down at her little eyes beneath the helmet.
“Fin.” Beth huffed.
“How about next time Fin? Your mommy made you dinner, it's time to go eat now.”
“Aww.” Finley bowed her head making Natasha lift it back up before she tumbled over by the weight of the helmet.
“We’ll go swimming tomorrow, how about that?” Natasha smiled.
“Okay Natty.” Finley made grabby hands at her older sister. Beth rolled her eyes before lifting her up.
“Bye Natty.” “Bye Miss Nat.” The kids said in unison.
“Bye, see you again soon.” She looked over at you who winked in response.
Natasha looked away when Quinn started acting like a lovesick teenager by pulling you in a kiss.
“You gonna be my coach tonight?” Quinn husked.
“I can think of some drills.” You smirked.
“Hey Y/L/N!” Steve shouted as you held your wife by her hips pecking her lips softly. He ran over from across the street.
“Hmm?” You hummed, turning your head before turning away from your wife.
“Let’s all get together this weekend to have a friendly game of touch football? I can bring out the grill and cooler.”
“Yeah man sounds like a plan!” You grinned.
“Nice! I’ll get the guys together.”
“Oi what are we? Chopped liver?” Val shouted.
You chuckled leaning back against Quinn who stood a step higher. Her arms wrapped loosely around your neck. She was whispering sweet nothings near your ear. It drove her absolutely insane when you did anything sports related.
“The more the merrier!” Steve laughed.
“Yeah sounds good just more ass I get to smack.” You smirked over at them as Quinn bit her lip.
“Wow Y/L/N I had no idea you were such a jock.” Carol smirked.
“Four time state champ baby!” You grinned.
“My mom won the cheer championship 4 times in a row too!” Beth smiled looking up at her mother.
“The jock and the cheerleader. Lots of locker room meetups?” Val smirked.
“How do you think we got Beth?” You chuckled as Quinn elbowed you and Beth made a ew sound before running inside.
“Nice.” Val chuckled high fiving you.
⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗
The following morning you had been walking Ollie with the girls when you all came across Peter and Gamora Quill walking their animals.
“Oh my gosh!” Beth gasped.
“Can I pet?” Fin pointed.
“Yes.” Gamora giggled. “Yes you can pet.” She crouched down letting your daughters pet their mini zoo of animals.
“Sorry.” You chuckled.
“Oh don’t be neighbor, this happens all the time we don’t mind and neither do they.” Quill laughed. “We were just about to put them in the backyard. Why don’t you guys just follow us and you can keep playing them.”
⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗
“That’s such a sad story but at least they found the their happy ever after. Rocket and the others really went through the ringer.” You say as the raccoon settles on your lap letting you gently pet him as you listen to Peter Quill and Gamora explain how they found him in the first place, and how Gamora made a sort of career change from being a bounty hunter to a rescue hunter. She went from hunting Nazi’s to hunting animal abusers and sometimes even child abusers
“Yeah they really did.” Gamora whispers softly just before Rocket lept from your lap to hers giving her a snuggle before darting off towards up a tree that Peter made a treehouse in. “After finding him and Lylla I couldn’t let them be apart.”
You smile seeing the otter they rescued in their salt water pool. You sniffled and wiped a tear away looking around at the recuses they have found together. “Well Rocket, is welcomed to our trash anytime.”
“I love Flor!” Beth giggled as she played with the handicapped bunny.
“I can’t believe animal cruelty is even a thing. What kind of monster of a human would hurt defenseless animals.” You sigh. “They’re all so sweet and beautiful. Makes me love and appreciate Ollie even more. I’ve only known Rocket, Lylla, Cosmo, and Flor a short while and I would absolutely lay my life down for them just like I would for Ollie.” You smiled seeing Ollie and Cosmo playing around with one another.
“Maybe we can take all of you to visit Teefs.” Gamora smiled. “He’s living at the Aquarium now in New York. We hated separating them but Teefs needed a lot of special care and the Aquarium provides that. We take them out to visit him at least 3 times a month.”
“I’d love to meet the big guy, and I’m sure the girls would too as well.” You chuckle as Cosmo, their rescue dog, gives you kisses. “Thank you Cosmo, you're a good girl.” She barked in excitement she whisked Fin up and on her back. Zooming all of the yard chasing Ollie.
“Cosmo zoomies!” Fin giggled on her back.
“The girls are in love with this place.” You chuckled seeing Beth’s face light up when floor hopped on her chest as they laid in the grass.
“They are always welcome here.” Gamora smiled.
“Yeah maybe next time I can grill us some burgers, and you can actually meet our team.” Peter grinned.
“Yeah I’d like that!” After a beat you asked; “Have you thought about opening up a rescue center?”
“We have but we just felt like if we did then it would need to basically be a zoo so they can free roam and not be tied down in a cage.”
“Well when you guys find the right place let me know. I’d love to help out in anyway that I can.”
“Thank you Y/N.” Gamora smiled.
“Beer?” Peter grins, handing you a bottle.
⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗
“Hey.” You say knocking on her office door.
“Hi baby, you and the girls have a nice walk?” Quinn smiles, taking her glasses off looking from her computer to you.
“It was great we met some more neighbors down the block, but we can talk about that later. I wanna talk with you about something important to me.”
“Okay.” She said standing up taking your hand leading you to her loveseat. “What’s going on?”
“Well a few days ago I was speaking with Tony, and he basically offered me a job on his team.”
“With Stark Industries?” Quinn’s eyes widened.
“Yeah, he heard I was supposed to go to MIT, and since I actually know what I’m doing he offered me a job.”
“Wow.” She smiled, patting your hands.
“You don’t want me to take it.” You mutter softly with a sigh.
“It’s just Fin is still not in school, and I-“
“Natasha said she’d be her babysitter, and Beth will be in school.” You say.
Quinn bit her lip looking away.
“Hey.” You say gaining her attention back. “This is important to me. I can actually bring something home. I can actually have my own career. It’s time Quinn.”
“Let’s wait a couple years for Fin to go to school then we can-“
“If you don’t want Natasha to take care of Fin. Then why don’t you just work from home fulltime and take care of our daughters yourself?”
“I can’t do that.”
“Quinn why can’t you just meet me half way-“
“Because I may be pregnant.” She interrupts you.
“Wait what?” You furrow your brows.
“I didn’t wanna tell you yet, I wanted to be sure.” She sighed standing up.
“Oh.” You raise your brows.
She swiftly turned around glaring at you. “You said you wanted-“
“No, no, I do, I do.” You say quickly rushing to her side, taking her hands. “Have you taken a test yet?”
“No…I’m still waiting a few more days to see if I start.” She muttered.
“Okay.” You nodded. “So we really aren’t sure yet.”
“No… but I know my body, and it feels just like the first time. I’ll make a doctor's appointment.”
You took her hand and sat down in thought. You did want another baby, but you knew she didn’t want another. You can’t help but feel a little blind sided. You internally roll your eyes at yourself Beth and Finley were both surprises, and you did tell her you wanted another baby. Maybe you won't have to turn down your dream job. You take in a deep breath and slowly release before saying something more so for yourself.
“One day at a time.”

Perfect To Love Part 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Harrington x FemReader!PlusSize
Warnings: fluff, mentions of bullying, body image issues, fat shaming, angst, trust issues.
Summary: Beth Walker was used to living in the shadows. She had only one friend and anyone else who paid her mind usually bullied her for her size. So she learned to keep her mouth shut, her head down, and her heart closed because she had to accept the fact that she would be nothing more than the fat girl to people. That is until Robin decides Beth needs more in life and that might just include a boy who she never would’ve thought could see her for who she truly was.

Beth liked Saturdays because she could make breakfast for her family while watching her VHS tapes of Muppet reruns. Nothing was better than a warm Saturday morning and Fozzie jokes. Then she would spend the day reading, lounging around the house, until she finally decided to go outside and work on her Corvette. She liked taking extra care of it, considering it was her pride and joy. The two toned blue corvette, cross fire fuel injection engine, electric seats and windows, with a hard top and glass top was her favorite thing in the world. It was only two years old, new from the factory, and if she was to ever lose it she would be heart broken.
So she liked to maintain it, keep it out of the sun, fresh and clean, and running perfectly every chance she got. If it didn’t need any of that she would roll the windows down and drive around the town with Billy Joel blaring from the speakers. Today was more than likely going to be one of those days considering she had kept the new car in pristine condition. She was busy checking all of the fluids when she felt a hand land on her shoulder, her practically jumping out of her skin. "Woah sorry Beth, I didn't mean to startle ya"
"Robin, what're you doing here?" Beth asked, a hand over her heart as it raced from the girl sneaking up on her.
"I wanted to see what you were up too tonight" she said, leaning against the car door. Beth's heart fluttered with nerves for a moment before remembering the car was just fine and Robin was careful. Well most of the time.
"Nothing, like always" Beth told her as she moved to drop the hood down, prepared to go for a ride.
"Well not tonight" Robin grinned, arms crossed and a devious grin plastered across her face.
"Robin I like doing nothing, please my weekends are my favorite" Beth started, walking around the car to get the the drivers side and Robin quickly turned around and looked at her over the roof of the car.
“Beth you have to get out there if you want people to know how cool you are” Robin urged, her hands falling onto the glass top of the corvette.
“Look Robin, I get you want me to be happy but I am fine. I’m content and I’m used to this” Beth told her, her hands gripping her car door.
“Look I’m not asking for you to come to some crazy High School party. It’s movie night with my friends, most of them are freshman. You have nothing to worry about” Beth sighed as she saw Robin’s pleading face. She knew her friend meant well, probably the only friend she really had.
“Just movie night?” Beth asked and Robin feverishly nodded as she realized she was wearing the girl down.
“Yes, you don’t even have to dress up. We all wear our pajamas even” Robin told her and Beth finally sighed and then nodded. A grin instantly broke across Robins face.
“Fine, but if at any point I want to leave you have to let me” Beth pointed at the girl and Robin nodded, raising a pinky in the air.
“Pinky promise” Beth forced a smile before reaching over the car and locking her pinky with her own. This could get interesting.
Beth was thankful for the leisure dress code. Meeting new people always required looking good and most of Beth’s clothes didn’t make her feel like she looked good. So the fact she could settle for some black sweatpants along with a green Hawkins High hoodie she was content. The baggy clothing could make her feel more secure and less noticeable in front of a new crowd. Robin had ended up hanging around, claiming she didn’t want to walk all the way back home, but Beth figured she just stayed because she wanted a ride in the corvette.
“Robin this is the rich neighborhood” Beth said as Robin continued to give her more directions. Beth had never dared driving in Loch Nora and now here she was. People like Colin Matterson lived in Loch Nora.
“It’s no big deal Beth, stay straight on this road” she urged her over the loud engine on the corvette. “This house here”
Beth didn’t recognize the house, other than the fact it was large with a huge red double door. It was dark except for a few lower rooms were lit and illuminating the grass outside. Then as she turned into the driveway she saw she was parked behind a maroon BMW. The only one in town.
“You brought me to Steve Harringtons house?” Beth hissed as she slammed the car in park. Quickly she pushed the button to drop the headlights and cut the engine before anyone noticed their arrival.
“Yeah, Steve’s cool” Robin said so nonchalantly she couldn’t believe that the girl couldn’t understand why Beth was freaking out.
“Steve is so not cool, he’s just like Colin” suddenly Beth was fumbling with the visor, dropping down the mirror, and adjusting the chocolate hair around her face.
“No he’s not and you would know that if you got to know him, come on” Robin pulled her keys from the ignition, leaving the car, and taking her only way of escape with her. Beth groaned and left the vehicle as well, rushing after her as they approached the doors and Robin began to knock.
“Open up dingus! We don’t have all night” a small gust of wind hit Beth as the double doors swung open, a broad shouldered, big haired, Steve Harrington standing on the other side. Steve’s eyes glanced to Robin before looking to the new girl, his eyes scanning her over quickly, a soft smile laid on his lips.
“Says the girl who usually lets herself in” Steve quipped finally looking back to Robin and Robin rolled her eyes.
“We have a guest, that’s not how we treat guests” Steve’s eyes fell upon Beth again and her stomach instantly filled with nerves. She wondered every thought going through his head. She prayed he wasn’t noticing how big she was, how he could wear her sweatshirt like a blanket. Yet all Steve noticed was her eyes were big and bright, innocently looking up at him like she was waiting for him to say something mean. His heart instantly softened.
“Hey Beth right?” Beth struggled to find the words for a moment, surprised the boy had even remembered her name.
“Yeah” she finally muttered and Robin smiled as she looked back to Steve.
“You gonna let us in?” as if Steve suddenly realized he hadn’t invited them in, he stepped out of the way allowing the two girls in the home.
“The kids are in the living room, they’re fighting over what to watch. I told them to figure it out by the time you guys got here” he told them as he shut the doors behind them. Beth took in the entire home, anxiety buzzing through her entire body. Suddenly Beth realized she would have to sit next to someone new, her size expanding like it did everytime she sat down. Maybe her clothes weren't as loose as she thought.
"Could I use your bathroom quick?" she piped up and both Robin and Steve looked to her.
"Yeah, of course. It's just down the hall and to your left" Beth nodded and quickly scurried off, Steve gave Robin a confused look and she just lifted her hands and shrugged before heading in the direction of the living room.
Beth looked into the mirror and realized there was nothing she could do to make herself smaller in the next few minutes. Sighing she tucked her elbows into her shirt and began to streth the material as much as she could. She was in Steve Harringtons house and he was going to think she was fat. She could never live with herself knowing that. Giving up she swung the door open just to see the boy had waited for her, leaned against the wall, perfect hair drooping over his forehead. He had grey sweatpants hung low on his hips and a black T-shirt on. For a moment she wished she was worthy of love from a guy who looked like that.
"You waited?" Beth found herself saying before she could think any better. Steve quickly moved off of the wall and stood up straight as he looked to the girl. He noticed she was quite short, her brown hair long and draped across her back.
"I didn't want you to get lost, Robin would kill me" he told her and Beth moved back down the hall, hating herself for even being attracted to a guy like Steve Harrington. He probably doesn't even remember what he did. He was just like all the others.
"Thanks" Beth muttered, dropping her head so she wouldn't have to look him in the eye any longer than she wanted too. Getting to know Steve, feeling close to him, learning things about him, she would end up falling hard and fast. Crushes on cute guys were usueless when you were her size so she saw no point in falling at all. She'd just have to find reasons to not like him. For starters what he did to her in High School.
"Do you want to help me grab the snacks?" he asked, a hand falling to the back of his neck. He was nervous Beth thought. Yet she couldn't understand why.
"Uh, sure" suddenly Beth was following him down another hall, and if you had told her two days ago she would be grabbing snacks with Steve Harrington in his house she would've told you, you were crazy.
"Robin told me you drive a new Corvette, that's pretty cool" Steve said as he broke open a chip bag and began to pour it into a bowl. Beth was not prepared for small talk, yet she couldn't be rude so against her better judgement she had to respond.
"Well she's two years old but yeah. She's right out front" Beth said as he pointed her thumb over her shouder, in the direction of the only thing that made her feel worth it these days.
"That's actually awesome. I always wanted a cool sports car" Steve told her, a small smile displayed on his lips. Beth hated herself for being attracted to the freckled boy, his chesnut locks, and cool smile.
"Cars have always been my thing, my Dad has been teaching me ever since I was little" Beth said, trying to get more comfortable in the presence of Hawkins High legend.
"I wish I knew stuff about cars" finally, a new reason to not like Steve Harrington.
Doesn't understand cars.
"I always wanted to learn though" his smile was sincere and Beth sighed as she realized her reason wasn't a reason at all.
Doesn't understand cars.
"It's easy once you get the hang of it" she told him, trying not to be shy because she truly wasn't. Yes she was insecure about her size, but shy? Not at all.
"Maybe you can teach me about it sometime" the implied notion of spending time together in the future instantly made Beth's stomach drop. Steve watched as he saw the girl actually deflate and he realized why Robin wanted this for her so badly. She couldn’t even believe he'd want to spend time with her. Hell he was friends with a bunch of kids, he could be her friend too.
"Let's go meet the others" Beth was glad he changed the topic and passed her a bowl of pretzels to carry to the living room. The closer they got the louder the hum of conversation was, but the group of rag tag teenagers were what she least expected in Steve Harringtons house on a Saturday night. “Kids say hi to Beth”
“Hi Beth” the chattering kids stopped to say before quickly going back to an argument.
“I told you we should watch Princess Bride” a boy wearing a hat bickered to a boy with jet black hair.
“Dustin, that movie is for little kids. I say we watch Children of the Corn” the black haired boy yelled back. Steve took a seat on the couch, leaving the only open spot left next to him. Beth nervously tugged on her sweatshirt before moving to sit beside him.
“Why don’t we let our guest pick” Steve suggested and suddenly the kids were silent, all looking to the girl with blinking eyes. She realized not once did they look at her like she was different.
“Um, what’re our options?” she asked and Steve smiled before reaching forward and grabbing the three tapes. Princess Bride, Children of the Corn, and Teen Wolf. She smiled softly at the cover of Michael J. Fox.
“Don’t worry about them, they get to rent movies for free because of us” Robin said as she flicked a piece of popcorn at the kid named Dustin.
“How about Teen Wolf, it’s a happy medium” without question Steve smiled and picked the tape from her hands to put in the TV.
“Teen Wolf it is” he grinned and the black haired kid let out a huff as he crossed his arms.
“Don’t mind Mike, his panties are in a twist because his girlfriend moved to California” a red headed girl leaned over to whisper to Beth. “I’m Max by the way”
“Nice to meet you” Beth smiled to her and the girl nodded to the three boys. “That’s Dustin, Mike, and Lucas and you obviously know Robin and Steve”
“Is that your corvette out there?” Lucas asked and Beth nodded. “That’s so cool, could you give us a ride sometime?”
“Uh, sure” Beth said with a chuckle, confused as to why none of them commented or looked at her differently because of her size. Had she gone about assumptions all wrong? Was it possibly not every teenager in Hawkins was bad?
The kids continued to ask Beth questions about her car and her interests. Steve and Robin could both tell she was getting more comfortable the more they talked and seemed interested in her. Robin knew this would be good for her, and Steve wondered why anyone could be mean to a girl like Beth. Yet he was friends with Tommy and Carol a long time and he remembered moments he wished he could erase where he was included in something so terrible he’d wince thinking about it. That’s why he forced a lot of it from his memory. He knew he couldn’t take any of those moments back but maybe becoming friends with Beth would redeem him just a little bit.

Current State of Affairs|3| Lee Dutton
part two
masterlist
Three: Lies Unraveled.
Tumblr media
After the main course was served, Lee pushed his chair back away from the table and grasped Spencer's hand before standing up and pulling her with him. "Excuse us." He nodded at their fathers and his siblings. Lewis had been sat at another table and he was furious, especially after the showdown he had with Frank, John, Royal, and the boys where he got called out on all of the things that they thought they knew.
 He had been under the impression that Spencer was a drama queen that acted out to get attention and what happened between them happened for a reason.
But of course, other people didn't see it that way, especially her father, uncle, and cousins. Before her second cousin Amy's birth, Spencer had been the only girl in the Abbott family so she was spoiled and used to getting things her way and Lewis was going out of his way to make sure that didn't happen with him.
Shaking his head he watched as the older Dutton boy led his fiancée out of the dining room. He wanted to follow but the murderous look that was being directed at him by her cousins and how one of the Ranch hands, Billy stabbed the end of his steak knife into the tablecloth near his fingers stopped him.
He would go after her when this was all over.
**
"Where are we going Lee?" she asked once all eyes were off of them and they were standing in the hallway.
"Just come on." He ordered as he led her out of the house and towards where the tree house, that Spencer had been begged to build when Beth started spending more time over at her house after her mother's death and her father eager to appease any burned feelings by his divorcing her mother who later died. Frank had it built. It was not only a getaway for Beth but for Lee, Jamie, Kayce, and to a point Rip.
"I am not climbing that ladder in this dress or shoes.'
"You have before." He smirked, remembering how they spent New Year the first year that she and Kayce seriously started dating and there had been a fight between Frank and John that they didn't want to see, and so the girls climbed the ladder barefooted, the material of the skirts hiked up way past their knees.
"I was also 16 and hadn't been drinking like I have tonight."
"I will  be right behind you, you know I will never let you fall."
  Glancing back once at the party and then at the man that was standing in front of her, she toed off her heels and gathered them in her hand before grabbing a hold of the ladder to start climbing, grumbling as she did so.
Lee smirked and glanced once back at the party himself then turned his attention back to Spencer who was about halfway up the ladder by then.
“Lee?” He shook his head and motioned for her to keep climbing, he didn’t want her to know that he was looking to see if Lewis followed them. But he knew that Rip and her cousins had it in hand and they would take care of it.
***
The treehouse hadn’t changed much since the last time that Spencer had been in it right before she left for Yale.  The blankets and pillows that still lined the floor were still in blue and white, and the pictures from her days at the Rodeo still lined the walls along with her last crown still hanging on the corner of the picture frame.
 “Wow, it hasn’t changed in 8 years,” Lee commented as he shrugged off his jacket and dropped it onto the hook.
“No, it hasn’t, I think Leighla kept it like this just in case I came back.” She returned going over to the crown and plucking it up and twirling it between her fingers.
 “Why didn’t you come back before now?”
 “Because Lee, it hurt too much being here.” Her blue eyes followed him as he pulled his shirt out of his pants and went over to where they had stashed the bottles of red wine.
“If I didn’t see my mama in the corners of the barn.”
 She was the one who found her mother in the barn after she killed herself, and was haunted by it for years. Having nightmares that were only soothed by drinking half a bottle of wine. It drove Lewis crazy, he thought that she should get over it, it had been 15 years since it happened and she tried to explain everything to him but he didn’t listen, and just didn’t care. It had always been Lee and Kayce who comforted her throughout it all.
“I was reliving my relationship with Kayce. And the hurt of him picking Monica out of nowhere.”  The crown went around again, the rhinestone sparkling in the dull fairy lights, “I was reliving the hurt that I had from you walking away from me after we had sex like it was nothing. It was reliving those.” She trailed off, her eyes finally dropping to the crown that was keeping her hands busy.
“Reliving what?’ He asked crossing the room handing her a full wine glass and taking the crown away from her, he wanted her to focus on their conversation and not on what was in her hands.
“The feelings I had for you, the overwhelming feelings of I needed to be with you every single day or I would go crazy type of thing.”  She had heard Ryder’s husband Jax refer to their love like that one time and it just made a lot of sense, especially for how she felt about Lee.  In an instant he was in front of her again, his hand stealing to her waist and pulling her into him.
“Spenc, I wanted to stay with you.” He started as she took several sips of her wine trying to slow down her rapidly beating heart. “I wanted to make you mine that day.” He paused to press a kiss to her forehead,  “But I had to think how it would have looked.”
“How it would look? Since when did you care how anything would have looked?”
“Since being in love and wanting to marry my little brother’s girlfriend would have been seen as a slap in the face to him. And we are all under the microscope with our last names and our reputation in town.” His fingers were playing with the zipper that was on the small of her back.
“After mom’s death and your mother’s suicide, we didn’t need any more bad press.”
“Look at you.” She teased, her free hand trailing over the crisp white shirt smoothing out the invisible wrinkles. Trying to be all forwarded thinking.”
“Jamie is rubbing off on me.” He returned, “He wants good press for the Ranch and for his career.” Spencer rolled her eyes, that was one reason why she muted Jamie for so long, he did nothing but talk about his career and how he handled everything for Yellowstone.
“He hasn’t changed in 8 years. Maybe a bit more annoying.”
The older Dutton boy nodded his head with a laugh and slowly started lowering the zipper of the dress. By the end of the night, he was going to make sure she was his. And for her part, Spencer didn’t stop him, this is what she wanted.
She wanted  Lee and wanted a relationship with him for years.
And maybe Ryder and Beth were right, she should do what makes her happy.  For years Lee made her so happy.  Once upon a time she would get giddy just thinking about him. Hell even seeing him standing in the foyer next to his father and brother gave her butterflies.
Butterflies she hadn’t felt in ages.
"We can stop." He started as the empty wine glass she had her hand dropped to the ground and he pulled her in closer to him.
"Don't you dare stop.' She muttered.
***
Lee trailed his fingers over the scars that lined her lower back and hips, scars that he had never seen before. "Lewis." She mumbled as she turned her head to look at him, "He won't ever leave marks where others can see them. He didn't want people to see what he did behind closed doors."  Her fingers grabbed a hold of his and moved it to the still fading red line that was under her bust, "This one happened after I went to see Uncle Royal, and the boys and I did a barrel race. I went down hard and bruised my hip to knee."
"You have had worst.' He commented as he ran his fingers over the scar and the undersell of her breast, 'Broke your collarbone and your leg.'
"I remember." She returned with a shiver, "You went with me in the back of the ambulance with my collar bone."
She vaguely remembered a fight breaking out between him and Kayce and how the older Dutton appeared in her line of sight a few moments after the fight started.
 She never thought to ask about it. It was never one of those things she ever thought to ask about.  So she asked the one thing she could, "What're we going to do? I leave in 3 days to go back to New York."
 Lee sighed heavily and rolled to where he was resting between her legs, his hand framing her face. "We will figure it out, Spence, I promise, I am not letting you go this time. Not without a fight."
**
Kayce Dutton flashed on the screen of Beth's phone causing her to sigh, they had just left the Abbott Ranch, and the last thing she wanted to do with her father, Jamie, and Rip in the car was talk to him, but she knew that she had too.
"Hey, now isn't really a good time."
'Is it true? Spencer is back home?" Kayce bulldozed.
"It is. Her father is getting married, she is Leighla's maid of honor.' The only Dutton girl admitted that the only thing that she was going to admit to was Lee and Spencer leaving together and not being seen again.
There had been enough fights between the two brothers over Spencer. “You made your choice when you picked Monica over her. Leave her alone.”

on today’s episode of oc hours: i discuss the trifecta
may i introduce you to the trifecta, the most popular girls at hawkins high. we have:
the redhead: Amy Hughes

Has a seriously impressive right hook and no patience for your bullshit
Also plays lacrosse in the spring once cheer is over

Has garnered quite a reputation as a heartbreaker. Has a new boyfriend every other week… will later discover she actually doesnt even like boys but that’s another story for another time
A walking gossip goldmine. Knows any and everyone’s business
Legend has it she keeps a ledger and pulls out the juiciest bits whenever someone pisses her off
the brunette: Tiffany Anderson
Tumblr media
Hawkins high cheer squad, side base

Poor little rich girl; granddaughter of a retired us senator. think: indiana kennedys
An insomniac. Pre-Steve, she was who Beth would occasionally call for a late-night chat
Loves to bake. Can decorate a cake like nobody’s business, renown for her weed brownies
She may dress like a prep, but don’t get it twisted: there is nothing boring about her. Tiff just loves plaid and a good shoulder pad
Might fuck your dad. Maybe she already has
Has an illegal stick and poke tattoo on her hip, courtesy of one eddie munson. it’s cherries btw
the blonde: Beth Sullivan
Tumblr media
Hawkins high cheer captain and flyer
On top of the pyramid literally and socially
Our beloved angel
Often the voice of reason
for more on Beth, see other oc hour posts
Other things of importance:
Not intentionally, but it is worth noting that all 3 lost their virginities to Steve Harrington. It’s safe to say he has to work to win Amy and Tiff over again when he first befriends Beth bc let’s just say he didn’t leave things on the best of terms with either of them
After Billy Hargrove stands Beth up, Amy made it a point to ensure everyone in Hawkins knows just how tiny his dick is (I mean, let that be real: that car’s compensating for something, am I right?)
It’s unknown how exactly they became friends. They just met in kindergarten and remained attached at the hips since
a bonus aesthetic:

👌🛌 [ homeless ]
Ain’t Exactly like Barry White || Not Currently Accepting
She knows better than to stop on a crowded street in the middle of the day, especially when they have ill-gotten gains in their backpacks, and her little dog on a rope leash. But that might be the one blessing of not being part of society, of becoming personless when you don’t have a home. People’s eyes tend to slide right off you if you don’t ask for spare change, or to ‘borrow’ a cigarette you have no intention or ability to repay, or any of a dozen other seeds of guilt to sow up in their consciences. So as they pass the big picture window with all the different television screens on display and the outside speaker plays the music from the moving pictures, she can’t help but stop. Press the hand he’s not holding to the glass, to feel the vibrations. The boy on the screen with the short wet blonde hair coloured pink looks nothing like Billy, and she’s never heard him sing. But if he did? She bets they would sound the same, maybe. She likes the boy who strokes the guitar. Her Boy gives her as much time as his patience allows before he’s tugging on her wrist and ducking his head. There’s a few watchdogs that are spread through the crowd. They might have spotted Boy and her yet, but it’s only a matter of time. Watchdogs who ask too many questions that can’t be answered, watchdogs who could to a man work for Them. And find the wrong one, then back they go to the Place. So she doesn’t fight it. She scoops up the little grey pup and carries her like a baby as she tries to keep up with Her Boy’s longer legged stride. They double and triple back a time or two and it’s hours before they reach their space under the bridge. They store what they can in the ever increasing makeshift shelter. Her Boy keeps out the damp and she gathers things that will burn for their little fire. She feeds the pup food from a pouch, tender for her still growing teeth, and the pup is grateful, gobbling it up as quick as she can. Her Boy splits the still warm fried fish into shares, and she makes sure he gets the larger portion by slipping a couple pieces on his side of the container, or shoving over the larger chips, but only when he isn’t looking. He worries about her but he needs more than she does. Much later, when they try to sleep she drowns out the traffic and other night sounds in the city by recalling the song. It pairs with the rain falling beyond the bridge’s two open sides. She snuggles closer to Her Boy and feels his arms curl around her. She settles her backside into the basket of his hips and she feels him stir against her. It isn’t the first time that that has happened. She knows what is supposed to come of it, how at the Place they would be put in a room with the strange windows. How They had hoped to watch nature take its course, but Her Boy never would. But as the rain and the song in her head plays on, she wonders if it would be so bad. Her Boy is beautiful. He is finely made. As she tries to make herself sleep, she mouths the words to the song. I give this part of me for you... Sand rains down and here I sit... Holding rare flowers...

Oh boy. I have So Many suggestions, you have no idea.
For the 2nd Doctor:
- Dr Finlay by Andy Stewart - I’ve always thought that it feels exactly like the kind of song that Jamie would sing to tease the Doctor
For the 5th Doctor:
- Jiggery Pokery by The Duckworth Lewis Method - it’s a cricket song and the singer loses the game because he underestimated the bowler. Lots of 5th Doctor vibes
- You’ve Got to Be a Cricket Hero (To Get Along With the Beautiful Girls) by Cantabile The London Quartet - again it’s a cricket song but this one just has Tegan vibes to me. Like with Dr Finlay and Jamie i can see Tegan singing it (extremely sarcastically) to annoy the Doctor
For the 7th Doctor:
- Mr. Shorty by Marty Robbins - a short man, a friendly but lonely and sad stranger, who stumbles upon trouble and defeats his opponent “before he could start” and then leaves, never to be seen again.
For the 8th Doctor/War Doctor:
- ButterflyWaltz by Brian Crain - this is a pre-war 8th Doctor song. No lyrics, just a waltz, but it’s the kind of music I can picture him playing in the tardis
- Sound the Bugle by Bryan Adams - the 8th Doctor loses hope, rejects his name and becomes the Warrior. But in the end he becomes the Doctor again and saves Gallifrey.
- Mars by Sleeping at Last - this song makes me think of the time war in general, the line about bodies born to heal become so prone to die really fits with time lords and regeneration. The whole song just fits really well with the 50th anniversary and the end of the time war.
For the 9th Doctor:
- Old Scars/Future Hearts by All Time Low - Nine is kicking and screaming his way to healing, he’ll carry the guilt forever but this is HIS life to live and he’s going to live it (and he begs the universe not to hate him for that). This song also has some Rose post meeting Sarah Jane vibes (I don’t wanna be the one left behind)
- Walk Me Home by P!nk - I don’t think I need to explain this one do i? It’s Nine’s feelings about Rose to a T
- Eye of the Storm by ONE OK ROCK - this song practically embodies Nine’s era. Ominous signs and bad luck following you, “Wolves at the door”, but ultimately there’s always hope and things will get better
For the 10th Doctor:
- The Edge of Tonight by All Time Low - lots of Rose and 10 feels, “I can’t breathe without you near, you keep me safe, you keep me sane” kinda just sums up how 10 feels about Rose.
- Ghost of a Rose by Blackmore’s Night - you can probably guess from the name what this one makes me think of right?
- i love you by Billie Eilish - 10 and his “I can’t spend the rest of my life with you” mentality that keeps him from being able to admit he loves Rose
For the 11th Doctor:
- DARKSIDE by Neoni - specifically, this one makes me think of the Eleven and the Dream Lord in Amy’s Choice
For the 13th Doctor:
- The Downfall by Ruelle - she’s just found out that her whole life is a lie and has no idea what to think
For the Doctor in general (no specific incarnation):
- Don’t Think Just Run by Beth Crowley - it’s fun and really fits the whole don’t stop, make it up as you go along lifestyle the Doctor lives
- It’s Time by Imagine Dragons - has really strong regeneration vibes with the chorus about getting a bit bigger but remaining who I am. Plus the idea of not really wanting to leave reminds me a lot of the first Doctor talking about how one day he and Susan will return to Gallifrey
- Hold the Line (feat. ARIZONA) by Avicii - listen to it and tell me that this doesn’t fit the Doctor to a T, I dare you
- Change by Kimia Penton - another song that reminds me of regeneration, but this one is more about how the companions respond to it
- Run by OneRepublic - this song is the Doctor’s whole mentality on life honestly
- Ghost of You by Selena Gomez & the Scene - regeneration vibes again; this time the Doctors thoughts on how the ghost of past incarnations influence who they are now
- Takes Me Nowhere by the Offspring - the Doctor (post time war) and his guilt complex
For the Master:
- Meet Your Master by Nine Inch Nails - you cannot convince me that the Simms Master wouldn’t have blasted this on the Valiant’s loudspeakers at some point
- Drumming Song by Florence + the Machine - lots of Missy vibes frankly
- Genghis Khan by Miike Snow - if you haven’t seen it before please watch the music video. It is an ExperienceTM. Tell me it doesn’t scream the Master and the Doctor and their weird relationship. Especially Thirteen and Dhawan’s Master.
- Kristy, Are You Doing Ok? by The Offspring - This is almost an Academy Era song to me? Early days of how the Master and the Doctor started to fall apart as friends.
- Fix You by TheOffspring - both the Doctor and the Master wish they could “fix” the other, both of them ultimately know it’s not possible but they try anyway
For various Companions:
- Rose: Fire in the Rain by Måns Zelmerlöw - I think this song perfectly sums up how Rose feels about the Doctor and travelling in the Tardis
- Clara: Highwayman by Johnny Cash - Clara and her many echoes
- Jamie McCrimmon: The Battle’s O’er by Andy Stewart - it’s a short and bittersweet song about Scottish soldiers who returned home and those who didn’t. I think I it fits the mood of how Jamie was returned to his home time without his memories of the Doctor very well
- Companions in general: Into the Storm by BANNERS
- the Tardis: You’re My Home by Billy Joel
Also you should look up Legs Nose Robinson and Chameleon Circuit. Both artists create music based on Doctor Who and it is brilliant.
I need recommendations for my Doctor Who playlist any suggestions?

Protective - Jill Roord/Reader
prompt: Continuation of Little Sister where R is still with Arsenal and dating Jill Roord and now they’re living together, but she hasn’t told Kelley who is coming to visit.
warnings: none
words: 2049
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I let out a soft groan at the knock on the door from my spot on the couch. Jill chuckled at me. I didn’t want either of us to move so I was hoping that whoever was there would just leave. I thought they had since there were no more knocks for a moment, but, of course, the person knocked again.
I huffed as I got up from the couch and my spot cuddled next to Jill. I wasn’t sure who was here or why they were here. I opened the door.
“Kelley?”
“Hey, little sis,” Kelley grinned as she pushed past me and into the apartment. Jill got up from her spot on the couch once she saw Kelley. “Love what you’ve done with the place.”
“Kelley, what are you doing?” I asked as she put her bag down and looked at Jill.
“I’m visiting,” Kelley declared as she turned to look at me. She glanced at Jill. “Isn’t this only a two bedroom apartment?”
“Yeah,” I nodded. I wasn’t sure what Kelley was trying to get at. “Why?”
“Well, where am I supposed to sleep while I’m here?” Kelley complained.
“You can stay in my room,” Jill spoke up. Kelley turned to look at the Dutch player while I furrowed my brow in confusion. “(Y/N), you could take Kelley to that pub we all like for lunch. I can stay on the couch while Kelley’s here. I can move my stuff to your closet? I know you have a ton of room.”
“Yeah, sure,” I nodded. Kelley grinned at me as I grabbed onto her wrist. “Come on.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once Kelley and I got back, I was surprised to find Jill wasn’t home. But I did notice that she had dragged the air mattress out.
“I’m gonna take a nap,” Kelley said. I nodded and watched her as she headed for the guest bedroom. I noticed that there was some of Jill’s stuff in there so I assumed she put it in there.
I sent a text to Jill to figure out where she was. It didn’t take long for her to let me know that she had gone to the practice field. I left a note for Kelley that I was going out to practice and that she could text me when she woke up.
It didn’t take me long to get to the practice field. I stopped at the edge to watch as Jill was working on her shots on goal. I could tell that she was frustrated from the way they were so sloppy and barely went in.
I ran out to join her and took the ball from her. I could hear the frustrated groan from Jill as I ran behind her and stopped to look at her. Jill turned to stare at me with her hands on her hips.
“You know, you didn’t have to move your stuff into the spare bedroom,” I softly said as Jill looked away from me. “You also didn’t have to offer to sleep on the couch. We could tell my sister.”
“Well, then, why haven’t you?”
“Because we haven’t even talked about telling anyone outside of our Arsenal teammates,” I pointed out. I wasn’t even sure if her own family knew that I was dating her. “On top of that, Kelley is nosy and she can’t really keep secrets that well.”
Jill sighed before walking over toward the sideline. I watched her for a moment before I decided to  follow behind her. I waited for Jill to sit down before sitting down myself. I made sure that we were facing each other, so that I could get a better read on how Jill really felt if she didn’t tell me the full truth.
“It’s just- Her being here?” Jill asked. I furrowed my brow. “How is it going to affect us? We have a routine. I don’t want to stop doing those things with you. Our weekly date nights? In our life, I love getting to look forward to those.”
“We don’t have to stop doing them,” I assured. I rubbed the back of my neck. “Look, I’m okay if we tell Kelley. Hell, I’m okay if we tell the world. So long as I get to be with you? I don’t care who knows. And no matter who comes to visit us, we never have to stop our routine.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Jill sent me a smile before darting up. I was quick to follow her as she ran for the ball. I couldn’t help but laugh as she tried to keep it away from me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I wanna make sure you’re okay with telling her,” I said as I got in front of Jill so that I could lean against the door. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable if you don’t want to tell her. If you don’t want to tell anyone, we don’t have to. It’s entirely up to you.”
“I want to,” Jill softly said. “I want to be able to show people that I’m with you.”
I smiled at her before pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
“Well, then, let’s tell my sister, yes?”
I reached behind me to open the door before we walked into our apartment. I wasn’t too surprised that once we dropped our gear off in the closet, we found Kelley cooking.
“Hey, I wasn’t sure when you guys would be back. I’m making chicken parmesan,” Kelley smiled at us. She threw the pan of chicken into the oven before actually turning to us. “How was practice?”
“Well, once someone was able to start hitting their shots on goal, it was pretty good,” I nudged Jill.
“Yeah, yeah, laugh it up,” Jill rolled her eyes. “Just because I was having a bad practice day.”
“Actually, there’s something I wanna tell you,” I said as I looked at Kelley. Kelley raised a brow as she turned to do something else. “Kelley, this is serious.”
“So is dinner,” Kelley said. She motioned to all three of us. “We’re all athletes. Gotta make sure that we’re all eating healthy.”
“No, Kel-”
“Which would you prefer? Mashed or roasted potatoes? I know you’re picky about them.”
“Roasted, but that isn’t-”
“So roasted potatoes it is.”
“I’m dating your sister,” Jill blurted out. Kelley stopped what she was doing immediately. I looked over at Jill and she glanced at me before looking at Kelley. I was a bit surprised that Jill was standing tall cause Kelley was glaring at her. “I’m dating her and we aren’t going to hide it just because you’re here.”
“What do you mean you’re dating my sister?”
“Exactly what I just said,” Jill said. She wrapped an arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer to her. “We’ve been dating for a while now.”
“Get your arm off of my sister,” Kelley said as she pointed the knife in her hand at Jill. Jill, however, stood strong and left her arm there. “I mean it. My little sister doesn’t date. Because when she dates someone, she gets hurt. And I am not going to let anyone else hurt my little sister.”
“Kelly, put down the knife.”
“No!”
“You don’t get to make choices for me! I get that you’re my older sister and it’s your job to be protective over me, but I’m a big girl,” I huffed. I pushed Jill’s arm off my shoulder as I walked around the counter to where Kelley was. “I’m allowed to date people. Besides, if I was going to date anyone, you would want it to be Jill.”
“No, because I don’t want you to date anyone.”
“Kelley, you don’t get to make decisions for me! If you don’t like it, you can go back to the US!”
I immediately turned around and headed out of the apartment. I wasn’t too surprised when I got out onto the street and I could hear Jill calling after me. It wasn’t until Jill grabbed onto my wrist and turned me around that I stopped.
“I’m sorry, I just-”
“It’s okay, (Y/N),” Jill quietly shushed me as she pulled me in for a hug. “It’s okay. You’re allowed to feel betrayed. You told your sister something huge and you wanted support.”
“Yeah, well, it seems to be a recurring theme with Kelley,” I softly said as I pulled back to look at her. “Can we just go to Viv and Lisa’s or even Daan and Beth’s for a little bit.”
“Yeah, of course,” Jill nodded. She pulled me back in for another hug. “Whatever you want. Your sister isn’t the only one who gets to be protective over you.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jill and I had stayed with Viv and Lisa for a couple of days while we let everything cool down. The only times we had stopped by our apartment was so Jill could run in to grab our gear so that I didn’t have to see Kelley. But it was after practice one day, that I figured that Jill and I should probably go home so that I could talk with Kelley.
It was why I found myself sitting in the car with Jill staring at our apartment building.
“I could always come in with you,” Jill said as she grabbed onto my hand.
“This is something I need to do by myself,” I smiled at her. Jill gave me a soft nod before pressing a kiss to my hand. “Go hang out with the other Dutchies. I know you guys love hanging out together.”
I got out of the car and I grabbed both of our bags before I headed in. I wasn’t too surprised to see Kelley jumping up from the couch once I shut the door. I dropped the bags by the door.
“We have to talk.”
Kelley only nodded before following me to the kitchen. I grabbed a water from the fridge before offering one to Kelley. Kelley nodded and took it from me.
“(Y/N), I’m sorry. I just-”
“I know, Kelley,” I said as I sat my water down. “I’m a big girl now. Mom and Dad have accepted it. Why can’t you? You can’t protect me from everything. Hell, I need to be able to make my own choices. I need to be able to make mistakes and learn from them. So why can’t you let me?”
“Do you remember when you were in kindergarten? There was this boy named Billy,” Kelley started.
“Yes, I remember Billy. I got a black eye making sure some other boys didn’t pick on him,” I nodded. I remember it well cause Mom had been worried sick but Dad was proud of me for standing up.
“I was picking you up one day and Billy asked who I was,” Kelley softly said. “When I told him who I was, he told me that I was the reason why you stood up for him. Because you said you wanted to be a protector like me. I never wanted you to have to feel like that because that was my job. I am the one who is supposed to do the protecting.”
“You can’t stop me from living my life, Kelley,” I said. Kelley sighed as she lowered her head. “A protective sibling talk would have been one thing. But you don’t get to make decisions for me. No one gets to make decisions for me but me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I know, but that doesn’t mean anything. You told me that I couldn’t date my girlfriend,” I shook my head. “You fought me on making a decision about my career. You didn’t even want me to move here when this was the best option for me. I want you to leave.”
“(Y/N)-”
“Kelley! Please,” I begged. “Just go home. Go home and I will see you whenever I visit.”
Kelley didn’t move. I didn’t want to snap at her, but I didn’t even want her in England anymore.
“Now, Kelley!”
Kelley hung her head as she headed to the spare room to pack her stuff up. I shook my head before heading to my own room. I didn’t want to have to watch as my sister left because I wasn’t sure if we could even fix what was broken now.
9, 10, and 19! 💞
HELLOOOOO!
9. already answered!
10. how has writing positively impacted your mental health or overall mood?
god, writing is a compulsion for me. it's not just something i like to do, it's a core part of my being. i love to write and i love to express myself in this way. sometimes, saying things aloud is hard, and i don't really have the hand eye coordination for drawing, and i'm not great at sports due to physical disability. so this is what i have, and this is what makes me feel good.
19. If you could write an ideal fic, what would it include?
i've touched on this idea before, but if it wouldn't take considerable effort, i would want to write version of stranger things were the kids and older teens, as well as a few adults, were gender swapped. so a series that was mostly girls rather than mostly boys. i think it would be interesting to think about.
steph harrington the 5'10 girls swim team captain (like, katie ledecky tall and broad) who goes after nerdy nathan wheeler because he's not impressed with her at all, who later goes out with local freaky goth girl joan byers, whose younger sister beth goes missing for a week in november of 1983, and her little nerdy girl friends, lucy sinclair, nathan's younger sister shelly, and debbie henderson find a boy with a tattooed wrist, el, whose name is john legally. billie hargrove and her sensitive younger brother maxwell (just max!) move to town. lucy and max start to date. el and shelly start to date. beth has a crush on shelly. steph works at starcourt and asks out rob(in) buckley, local snobby art-film gay guy. after hop dies, the byers move to california and joan starts hanging out with maria "argyle" aguilar, steph and robin start working at family video, debbie and shelly start hanging out with emmy munson, and steph is not jealous. chris cunningham, captain of the basketball team, goes to emmy for drugs.
in this fic, of course, everyone lives (including chris) and emmy/steph and chris/robin start dating. robin and nathan, after butting heads, become best friends.
anything about your ocs. literally the littlest least important things about them,,
one for most every important oc in no particular order
when he was a toddler jem got pecked repeatedly in the foot by one of the family chickens and it chased him around until his grandma grabbed the thing
back in 85 or so mick got stuck on a super mario bros level and started crying. colbert, despite having never touched the game himself, managed to get him unstuck
billy used early online forums so frequently. he was an absolute menace and would troll his cousins through emails. cassidy falls for it every time, from screamers to rickrolls to 'darude sandstorm'. he has no idea how billy is always one step ahead of him every time.
cassidy still has a personal webpage and a few forums up from the 90s. god bless him.
suzie was the wolf girl of her generation.
colbert took apart clocks and put them back together with the help of his grandpa as a child
vince built doll furniture for beth
hank has a casual bowling team
scott had a bit of a slut era throughout his 20s.
mike wanted a man cave so bad when he moved in w scott but their house is too small and the separate garage was filled up with scotts hunting shit
edith didnt know colbert's first name was george until she finally met his family after 3 months of dating.
emmett almost didnt go to college bcuz his parents hid a scholarship offer from him
richie (her beard husband), matilda (his beard wife), and matt (their tax benefits baby /j) have a parakeet named kiki. matilda's mother nuan taught it profanity upon matt's request. little fucker scares the hell out of richie
richie organizes his books by color. it upsets matilda to no end as an english teacher.
similarly, colbert organizes his alphabetically by title. when theyre on the shelf, anyways.
beth is obsessed with garfield.
the smurfs was banned at the jones' home (neighbors of the fitzpatricks) so the boys fred, mathias, and andy would walk all the way over from their farm to jem's just to watch it there. they dont even like jem. they also carpooled before jem got his license
Reviews of Jonathan in Life & Beth (part 2)
Roger Ebert.com
Of the more minor players, Jonathan Groff is remarkable as Travis, a small-town big fish who loves “New York” in the most cringe-inducingly painful way only a tourist can.
Indiewire
she dates the wrong guy — a very funny Jonathan Groff as a small-town personal trainer mesmerized by Beth’s glitzy life in “The City” — on the way to dating the right one.
That Hashtag Show
As the series goes on, the charm and fun the show desperately needs arrives in the form of her hilarious friends. As well as, Jonathan Groff (Hamilton and Mind Hunter) playing the hot fitness instructor with a dark secret. His entire storyline is my FAVORITE out of the season. The absurdity of the moments between him and Schumer is incredible.
Boston Globe
But I laughed out loud, too, sometimes thanks to the characters around Beth — Hank Azaria’s funeral director, for example, who’s obsessed with dieting, and Jonathan Groff’s one night-stand, who is fixated on Manhattan.
Chicago Sun Times
Filled with memorable and authentic supporting performances from the aforementioned talents plus Jonathan Groff as a lifelong Long Islander who thinks of Manhattan as some exotic, unreachable foreign land,
The Wrap
During a girls’ night at a club, Beth meets a handsome meathead of trainer (a hilarious Jonathan Groff) who’s impressed by her only because she lives in Manhattan, which he seems to actually know very little about.
New York Times
Jonathan Groff shows up in an amusing bit as a Long Island Lothario who’s attracted to Beth because of her Manhattan connection; his obsessive love for the city is right out of an early Billy Joel song.
Punch Drunk Critics
Jonathan Groff plays a fuck boy trainer hellbent on making sure Beth doesn’t get pregnant.
ROSIE BETH 3
(Part 3)
Tumblr media
Fandom: Stranger Things
Pairings: past Billy X OC
Words: 1027
Description: dinner with Joyce
She lay asleep in his chest. A precious ball of joy and unconditional love right there, laying on his chest. Rosie Beth was an absolute miracle. She'd changed him for the better, he wasn't as brash or violent as before and he was much more patient.
Billy prided himself on being gentle with his daughter, the exact opposite of his father.  Sylvie had noticed it as well, she'd mentioned it a few times, how happy she was that they were all together now.
They didn't have a lot of money, but they were happy. Today was Friday which meant that tonight was dinner at the Byers' house. Joyce had been more than helpful, giving them baby clothes and toys, dinners and babysitting, Joyce was a godsend.
Sylvie was at work so the job getting Rosie ready for dinner was up to Billy. Today was his day off, the only one he'd had in what seemed like months. Normally when he got a day off from one job he'd work overtime at another, for the extra cash.
Billy looked down at the little girl with a smile, he slowly woke her up by blowing softly on her nose. She giggled wildly upon realizing it was her dad that was waking her. Reaching out a small hand she brushed the side of his face gently.
"C'mon Ladybug, time to get ready to see auntie Joyce." She smiled brightly and jumped up and down on him.
He picked her up with a chuckle and brought the little girl to her room. The nursery was small but cozy. Pale blue walls with small, dainty blue roses painted on the walls. She did have a crib, but she preferred to sleep with her parents.
Though they were just friends, Sylvie and Billy did share a bed. At first he slept on the couch but after a few days of that, Sylvie couldn't stand seeing him wake up in pain and had practically forced him to sleep in the bed with her.
It was comforting, sleeping with another person, even if it wasn't romanic in nature. Especially if it wasn't sexual, before Rosie and Sylvie came back into his life the only way he could get comfort was to have sex with some random chick.
He wasn't proud of it and he realized now why he did it. Sylvie had been helping him with that, letting him talk about his emotions without him feeling like he was being judged or shamed. He finally had a family that lived him.
He wandered over to the shelf of drawers and pulled out two different outfits, he held them up to the little girl and let her choose. She reached a hand out to a pink dinosaur onesie and a blue skirt. Billy smiled and picked the little girl up.
After wrangling her into her clothes he set out to make some cookies for desert. Billy sat Rosie Beth down on the counter beside him as he baked.
He'd been trying that more recently. Without Neil to hold him back he'd been trying a lot of new things. Baking had been something he liked, when he was a kid Billy remembered baking with his mom when he was little. He wanted that with his own child, special memories that they could share.
Sylvie arrived home just as the timer beeped and in less than half an hour they were gone. They quickly arrived at the Byers house, making their way inside.
They knocked softly and invited themselves in, Billy held cookies in one hand and the little girl on his hip as Sylvie pushed the door open. Normally it was only them and Joyce there for dinner, to their surprise, more people than just Joyce greeted them.
"Oh hello, I'm so glad you're here. Sorry I hope you don't mind invited the boys and Max. Don't worry I made enough, come in come in. Let me see the little one." She held her hands out and Billy gently passed Rosie Beth into her arms.
Max, Johnathon, Will and chief Hopper were all here. Billy felt his heart creep up in his throat. He hadn't really spoke to Max since he left home, he'd changed and he wasn't sure how to talk to her now. How to apologize.
Sylvie pushed the awkward boy forward and motioned for him to take off his shoes. He kept glancing back at the redheaded girl, Billy could tell the boys and Hopper were giving him sideways glances as he walked in.
"I brought cookies." Billy said awkwardly to the older woman.
She smiled kindly while bouncing the young girl in her arms.
"You can put them on the counter. Hey guys! Dinners ready!" She turned to face Billy. "I made them wait for you guys."
He smiled and walked forward, sitting between Sylvie and a high chair. Joyce gently placed the baby beside her farther and sat at the head of the table, across from Hopper.
Max sat across from Rosie Beth and Sylvie across from Johnathon. As the other boy looked down at his plate Billy gave a defective look to Sylvie. She chuckled to herself and kicked him under the table.
Billy placed a few spoon fulls of boiled carrots and mashed potatoes in front of the small girl. Max watched her brother intently, he was so gentle to the small girl, softly whispering to her and smiling.
"So, Billy... I haven't seen you in a while." Hopper said awkwardly, fiddling with his food.
"Mmm... yeah I tested out of school so I've been busy with Rosie and working."  He glanced over at his daughter and chuckled at the sight.
She was fumbling with her plastic fork and pouting at her food. He laughed and turned to her direction.
"Need help little lady?" She whined in response. Billy used his fork to feed the little girl small pieces of food.
Max watched him, he really had changed. The Billy she knew would never have done that. He was different now, he had a family.
She wasn’t sure what had happened to change him so much, but she liked it.
oc lore dump continues: beth edition ft. steve harrington
today, we are talking about beth’s bedroom:
Tumblr media
this is the teen dream bedroom, complete with her own pastel pink princess phone line bc duh
i’m thinking lots of purples, whites, even reds. I’m thinking cindy mancini’s room from cant buy me love (see above), but with andie’s bay window from pretty in pink, and a four poster bed a la chris in adventures in babysitting
Tumblr media
its 1985 and beth has this poster up in her bedroom—right between one’s of johnny depp, steve perry, and like 20 of michael j fox, mind you—and it caused a fight between her and steve. as seen in s1 especially, steve's insecurities often play out in the form of jealousy and rash conclusions that interfere with his relationships. so, after overhearing two girls comparing billy hargrove to the guy from st. elmo's fire, he never wanted to see that stupid thing again.
but one thing about beth is she's not gonna let him feed into that side of himself because it's only a poster of freaking rob lowe, not a polaroid of billy hargrove some guy she met at the hawk. and it's because she understands the real reason he doesn't like it ("hey beth? who's that" ' rob... you mean rob lowe?” “does that earring look familiar?" etc) that she ends up taking it down, folding it in half, and stuffing it into her whiny boyfriend's fist. she'd never admit it, but beth thought it was kinda cute that steve was jealous. besides, she'd always been more into back to the future than the outsiders, anyways
bonus headcanon: it is soon replaced by polaroids and photo booth strips of her and steve
bc steve harrington?? OH BOY i just know he loves the fuck outta a photo booth and he will blow a concerning amount of cash on it because he can’t stop making out with beth long enough to get the normal picture he wants. that’s just what he says, anyways
Can’t Get Enough Part 10
A/N: I don’t really like this chapter very much, but it’s going to get us to our second act.
Summary: The two most stubborn people in Knockemstiff, Ohio have eyes for only each other. Lee Bodecker is determined to become the town’s next sheriff. He knows that image is everything. Billie Dechswaan doesn’t care about her image at all. All she wants is to leave Knockemstiff and never come back. But Lee has other plans for her. Both are far too stubborn to give up their own plans. What happens when they can’t get enough of each other?
When they arrived home, Billie convinced Beth to lay on the couch with a blanket and watch tv quietly. She was hoping the little girl would nap before they had to go to the funeral. Lee helped Billie put all the food away. And then he sat with Beth while Billie found the darkest clothes they owned for the funeral.
Billie was nervous. She was going to be seeing her older brothers for the first time in years. At least she’d been able to secretly talk to her sisters, who would pass messages between mother and daughter. She hadn’t talked to her brothers since she left and she didn’t know their wives at all.
Billie cuddled Beth into her side as Lee drove to the church. Lee squeezed Billie’s knee as they pulled up to the church. He could tell she was nervous. Lee got out of the car first and went around to the passenger side and opened the door. He took Beth from her and Billie followed. He grabbed her hand and led her inside. Luckily nobody besides the family was there yet.
Lee opened the door and Billie stepped inside. She saw all her brothers. Three small kids were racing around. Two were boys, the other a girl. They were playing tag in the pews. A fourth boy was also racing through the pews, and he was getting frustrated with the older three, while trying to keep up, but his legs still held onto some baby chubbiness.
“Jacob, Sam come here please,” called one woman with a swollen belly. Billie would have guessed she was about five months pregnant. She had brunette hair, sculpted into a fashionable style. She glanced over and saw Lee and Billie. Lee set Beth down, but still held her hand.
“Sheriff Bodecker,” the woman nodded. Both Thomas and Joseph looked up. Thomas was the first to walk over to Billie.
“Hey kid,” he smiled, pulling her into a hug. Billie squeezed him back. He pulled back and another woman walked over to them. She had beautiful red hair and bright blue eyes.
“Billie this is my wife, Paulette. And our little firecracker, Rachel and the monkey over there is our son, Asher,” he said as he picked up the little girl pointing at the little boy hiding in Paulette’s skirt. She was a carbon copy of her mom, her red hair pulled back away from her face in a barrette.
“It’s nice to meet you Paulette,” Billie smiled.
“Thomas has told me so much about you. I’m so excited to meet you,” Paulette said, excitedly, “Rachel, this is your Aunt Billie. Can you say hi?”
“Hi,” Rachel called from her now upside down position in her father’s arms.
“This is Beth, she’s about your age, Rachel,” Billie introduced, “Beth this is your Uncle Thomas, Aunt Paulette, and your cousins Rachel and Asher.” Rachel struggled until Thomas set her down.
“Wanna go play?” Rachel asked Beth.
“Can I mama?” Beth asked.
“Of course, just stay around here, okay?” Billie encouraged. The two little girls took off running through the pews, giggling as they went. The older boys were quick to follow both the girls.
Jospeh trudged over.
“Joseph, how are you?” Billie asked.
“Can’t believe you have the nerve to show up here. You know how dad felt about what you did,” Joseph spat. Billie recoiled back into Lee, who wrapped an arm around her.
“Joseph!” Joy scolded, “Your sister is here because I want her to be. This funeral may be your father’s but Lord knows he wasn’t perfect. I would ask you to apologize to your sister, but you’re a grown man with children of your own.”
“Fine,” Joseph growled, “Billie this is my wife, Marianne. The two boys are ours, Jacob and Sam.”
“It’s nice to meet you Marianne,” Billie murmured.
“You as well,” she replied, “I heard we missed the wedding this morning. I never thought I’d see the day when Lee Bodecker finally got married.”
There was an awkward silence among the adults, while all the kids were laughing together.
“Look, let’s just say goodbye to your father. He would want all you kids to get along,” Joy sighed, “The service is set to start in 30 minutes.”
The funeral director allowed them each to view the body. Joy went up with Wesley and Clara. Marianne managed to wrangle the boys. She and Joseph walked up. Both boys broke into hysterics, it was a lot for children to see a dead body. Paulette didn’t make the same mistake. She sat her kids down, while she held Thomas’ hand. Then Sylvia and Tim went up. Billie and Lee were next, Beth sat next to Rachel. All her siblings started weeping when they saw their father. Billie felt numb. Numb with all the things she never said. She regretted how she left. Her dad wasn’t perfect, but neither was she. Tears trickled down her cheeks. Lee squeezed her shoulder.
Slowly the church started to fill with others. Then the minister came up and did a sermon for John. Joy thought it was beautiful. And that was really all that mattered. After the service the church ladies provided lunch.
Lee and Billie spent the whole time being approached. Mostly people congratulated them, but they were also confused. Billie was sure they were skeptical of if the pair were telling the truth. It didn’t matter though. They were married now and there was no use speculating about the past.
After two hours of chatting with what felt like every resident in Knockemstiff, Billie was beyond ready to go. But Rachel and Beth had wandered off. Billie set out to find them. She went back upstairs to the chapel. As she neared the top of the stairs she heard whimpering. She quickened her steps, hoping neither of the girls got hurt. What she saw was much worse than what she imagined.
Both the little girls were crying. And in front of them was Larry. Billie was quick to rush over to the girls.
“What’s going on?” She gasped.
“Aunt Billie, this mean man hit Beth,” Rachel wailed. Billie looked up and Larry, his eyes practically red with fury.
“Rachel, why don’t you take Beth back downstairs and find grandma,” Billie suggested. She had left Lee with her mother. If they sat by Joy, Lee would come upstairs quickly. Billie stood between the girls and Larry as they scurried down the steps. When the girls were out of earshot she stared at Larry.
“What are you doing here?” She spat.
“Looking for you,” he said with narrowed eyes.
“Well, you found me, now leave.”
“What? You thought I was just going to let you go?”
“I literally ran away from New York to get away from you, so I thought that was a pretty clear message.”
“I could give a fuck what you think or want! You embarrassed me. I could just wring your neck for that, but if you apologize I’ll let you come back with me.”
“I’m not going back!”
“You’re going to stay here? In this stupid, little town as a single mom?”
“No, I actually got married this morning.”
“To who?” Larry said through gritted teeth.
“Lee.”
“Oh Lee,” he laughed humorlessly, “Of course it’s Lee. I could never escape the ghost of Lee. You constantly compared me to him. But you said it was done and like an idiot I believed you. I believed you when you said you wanted to wait to fuck until after we were married. But you just couldn’t risk that he might want you back. You dicked me around.”
“Larry, just leave.”
“No, if you think you can embarrass me like that, then I’m going to teach you a lessen.”
Billie started to cautiously back away from Larry, but he lunged, grabbing her arm. He pulled her forward until he reached the last row of pews. He threw her down. Before Billie could get up, he kneeled on her chest. She immediately felt the loss of air. She couldn’t get a substantial amount in. Larry punched her in the face twice. Then he wrapped his hands around her neck and squeezed down on her windpipe. She clawed desperately at his hands and kick her legs. But he wouldn’t budge. Legs and arms clanged against each other. Every knee or elbow Billie threw his way was met with a punch. She fought to stay conscious, but the lack of air was excruciating. She fought so hard to stay awake, she couldn’t leave her baby, or Lee yet. She wasn’t ready. But the loss of air won and she slipped into darkness.
As soon as Lee had seen his daughter crying, with a red-shaped hand print on her face, he handed her off to Joy and raced upstairs. He was distraught when he saw a man choking Billie out. Her face was nearly blue. How long had she been unconscious? The man now used one hand to try and pull her dress up and Lee saw red. He reaches for the gun in his waistband, without a word and pulls the trigger.
The sound echoes through the church. The bullet landed in the man’s shoulder. Lee walked over and pulled the now bleeding man from his girl. He kicks the guy in the stomach a few times for good measure.
“Listen to me, you fuck. The only reason you aren’t dead is because I don’t want you to be. You’re gonna live a long life behind bars,” Lee growled. He kicked the guy in the face, before turning his attention to Billie. She was breathing normally now, her eyelids were fluttering, like she was trying to wake up. Her skin started to regain some color. Lee squatted next to her, checking her injuries. Tim, Thomas, Joseph, and several other men came running up the stairs. Tim took in the sight, as the only other trained officer there he sprang into action.
“Thomas, go phone Dr. Sanders. Tell him it’s urgent. Abe, Merle, make sure that man doesn’t move from that spot. Joseph, keep everyone downstairs. I’ll go out to the Sheriff’s car and radio the station. Get some guys here,” Tim commanded before running to the parking lot. Lee cradled Billie against him. He supported her head and was trying to stop the bleeding from her forehead. But nothing he could do would stop the bruising around her neck and face. Billie stared up at him, not saying anything, tears cascading down her face.
Dr. Sanders was a good man who lived just two blocks away. So, he beat the deputies to the church. He quickly checked Billie. He said that because she was awake and able to answer his questions that she would likely be fine. He stitched the large gash on the side of her face and told Lee what signs would indicate that she needed to go to the hospital. He advised that she didn’t try to speak or move her neck too much.
Lee told his deputies what happened. He also told them that Billie would be home for at least three days before she’d be able to answer any questions. But he allowed one deputy to take pictures of the injuries she’d sustained. Each time the camera flashed Billie winced. It seemed as though the noise and bright light frightened her. Beth was beside herself. All Billie could do was hold her baby in her arms. Lee watched Billie sitting on the pew, Beth’s head tucked under her chin. The little girl clung to her mother like a monkey. Billie rocked Beth back and forth, petting her hair.
Unfortunately for Larry, he needed to go to the hospital to have the bullet taken out of his shoulder. He’d be cuffed to a hospital bed, then thrown in jail.
Lee managed to get both Billie and Beth home. Beth was terrified. She couldn’t stop crying, and Billie was unable to comfort her daughter since she couldn’t speak. Lee helped Billie sit on the bed, before he turned to Beth and picked her up. He kicked off his own shoes and climbed onto the bed next to Billie.
“Beth, honey,” he cooed, “It’s okay. Mama is going to be alright. The bad man is going to jail and he’s not going to hurt you again.” Beth’s wailing calmed to a whimper.
“I’m not going to let anything like that happen to Mama again,” Lee promised. Billie could see that he meant it. She knew he would kill Larry before letting him anywhere near their family again.
“Daddy, I’m scared,” Beth whined.
“I know sweetie. But I’ll protect you. You can even sleep with me and Mama tonight,” he soothed, he hugged Beth closer into his stomach and chest. She nestled into him, the tears stopped. Billie sat up and kissed Beth’s forehead, before she also cuddled into Lee.
They spent the evening like that. Lee brought them everything they needed. Then he helped them both into pajamas. Lee felt happy holding his two girls in his arms. He carefully got out of bed, after the girls fell asleep and called his deputy at the hospital.
“How’s it going?” He asked.
“Sheriff, it’s not good. This guy is threatening to sue us,” the deputy panicked.
“Calm down Johnson. I didn’t shoot to kill and he was in the process of murdering a woman when I found him. I would have been well within my right to kill him. But I didn’t want to kill a man in church,” Lee growled, “They get the bullet out?”
“Yeah, it wasn’t in too deep.”
“Good.” Lee hummed, “When do they think he’ll be able to be released for processing?”
“Maybe a day or two,” the deputy responded— although he said it more as a question than an answer— “He keeps saying his lawyer is on the way down and the charges won’t stand.”
“Well, we have pictures of the injuries and Billie can testify against him,” Lee grumbled, “I’ll call down to the station in the morning, have them call up to New York. This isn’t the first time this sort of thing has happened with this guy. Hopefully, he has a record.”
“Lee,” a rocky voice croaked behind him. He looked up to see Billie staring at him.
“I gotta go Johnson. I’ll touch base tomorrow,” Lee said his eyes not leaving Billie.
“Sounds good boss,” the other man replied before the line went dead.
“Baby,” Lee sighed, “What are you doing out of bed?”
“You were gone,” she managed to gasp out. Lee reached out to touch her face, lightly he ghosted his hand over the bruises.
“It was just work,” he answered, “Now, let’s get you back to bed.” Lee grabbed Billie’s hand and pulled her with him back to his room. Beth was sprawled out like a starfish in the absence of both her parents. Lee chuckled to himself before scooping her up and carrying her to her own bedroom. Once he tucked her in, he went back to his room to hold Billie. She cuddled into his side. He could feel her shaking.
“He’s never going to hurt you again,” Lee promised, hands delicately rubbing her back. He slowly felt her drift off to sleep.
