(The entire OC happened cause listening to multiple Shadows questioning the thing they are doing in Las Almas, I kept thinking how cool it would be if one of them went turncoat and helped 141. As such, in Hauke's 'og fic canon' he deserts and helps Soap and Ghost escape Las Almas, gives them everything they got on Graves' setup in the prison and Fuerzas Especiales base, helps if he was permitted to, and eventually is invited to 141 by Price.)

i get what ed is trying to say here generally but "the fucked up implication of a society that has abandoned or otherwise discouraged having a word for love to the point it has fallen out of common usage and people do not know it any more" and "we know what the words for love are but they are Forbidden and we Cannot Use Them" are kind of....different things......with different implications....

like you can still feel love and affection without having a word for it. I think that's kind of a fairly consistent thing about a lot of Menzo's initial worldbuilding, that the vocabulary has atrophied or been stamped out, but the feelings remain regardless and are twisted into different shapes. A lot of Menzo characters simply do not have the vocabulary to articulate what they want or feel they are missing so it comes out more harshly or combative because their language (and behaviour) has been so shaped by that isolating combative environment. I think that's kind of an important distinction to make. I guess conflating the two is inevitable especially with limited space, but ehhhhhhh
