first time actually doing a tag game in ages. thanks for the tag @deanwax! this a snippet from a romantic short story I wrote ccalled The Quieter Side of Te Mamaku Bay:

Their thighs touch, and he can’t help but marvel at it. It’s as if Te Mamaku is a bubble of forest and starlight and the muted rushing of the waves, shared only between the two of them.  Ben proffers the Winfields wordlessly. Tony reaches for one, but suddenly the image of pulsating, tar-blackened lungs crashes into his mind, and he falters, hanging his head slightly. Expecting a sarcastic remark from Ben, Tony’s surprised when it doesn’t come. Instead, the other boy simply lights his own cigarette, takes a long drag and puffs the smoke up into the night sky. Tony can’t help but watch the curve of Ben’s thumb as it idly flicks the lighter in his other hand. Teardrop flames spark and die in a matter of seconds, throwing brief flashes of soft orange light onto Ben’s face. Reflections glint in his brown eyes like tiny supernovae.

Home. At last. She was shaken from her reverie by the sound of a young man’s voice exclaiming, “Eh? Is that –?” and Quentin’s shouted reply of, “How are you doing boys!”

The last couple hours have been utter chaos, but the ifrit had been kind of expecting it. The way he'd grown up, you either developed a sixth sense for when you'd caught someone's attention or... well, you didn't grow up. So the moment he'd realized he'd caught Greed's attention of all people, he'd known that something was going to happen. It hadn't been more than a few minutes after she and her.... whoever it was... passed by that a satyr had dragged him off of his duty- scrubbing the pretentious white walls of the most pretentious building ever- and into a service hall in the back of the building.  “Name and case number?” The satyr asked, too fussed over something on his tablet to bother looking up. Val realized with a shiver that this bloke was higher up than him and answered prompt and professional-like. “Valian Ifrit, 85335-2212-16.” “Milos, PA to Greed.” he says, glancing up only a moment, “Valian your case is being transferred by order of The Duke of Greed, effective immediately. Come, we have little time to process you.”

I have a gift for y'all today !!! 😊 Ever wanted to find a line in Re:Kinder in a single place for the sake of reference?? How about multiple chunks of lines. how about all the little variations that arise in the text with it's many endings, item descriptions, text that comes from interacting with the enviroment, and character info from the menu without having to boot up the game and go through it at long minutes!!???

well i sure did😊 Since I do a lot of fanart and think up my own silly theories and thoughts that need me to reference the game lines a lot, i have made a transcript for it for convenience's sake. A weirdly thorough transcript handwritten and proofread by me including all character lines available in-game. And I'm sharing it with you all today for anyone that wants it !!! :3 To use as a reference for creative fanworks or a quick search for a line in-game, whatever you wish to use it for!!

It uses the english translation of the game by vgperson. So naturally all credit for the game lines available in here is to her and Parun who made the game.

I did my best to organize it in a way easy to digest. Do note that I'm still human, and there's still the chance for mistake in it no matter how much I've proofread it, since I'm not even an english native speaker ^^. But I hope it serves you well nonetheless if you wish to use it.

That's my gift for today!!! Not the usual art, but still a project I'm proud of. Enjoy!!! 😊

From The Hunter, the Myth and the Cure, Chapter 3:

Octavian fell to his knees, his entire body shaking, as the blurry memories assaulted him. Graves. A supposed Draigo from the far east stronghold. Nothing more than a liar, thief and arsonist. The dead devar in the archive explosion. The injured and dead Draigo in the Council hall. The mission. Maelyn. Oh celestials, Maelyn. She’d trusted him, and he’d failed her. Lead her straight into a trap. He had no choice.

This is from the first part of the chapter which is sort of a trauma-blurred recap of the events of the previous book, The Watcher and the Thief. For some context, Octavian returned to a place he had considered home and found it in utter ruins. The Draigo are a humanoid species who are magic-proof and mostly fire-proof and who died out in Octavian's absence, the devar are shapeshifters who work with the Draigo. Octavian himself is an elf devar who got enthralled by a magician and then frozen in magical stasis for a decade.

This excerpt is literally a Nicholas Rush Character Study 101.

The easy way Telford was sharing his past amazed Rush. He imagined telling Telford about Glasgow – the pain and the docks and the fish – and couldn’t picture it in any way that worked. He didn’t think he’d be able to get the words out, and yet sharing your past obviously didn’t have to be that way. He wondered if Telford would tell him about where he'd grown up, if Rush was even allowed to ask questions not pertaining to war. Had Telford been a person before the Air Force? When he’d just been David and there'd been no blood on his hands. Rush wanted to see the blood, wanted to see it spread onto himself, because if you were bloodied then it meant you’d fought. Even if you lost, people would know you’d fought.

The narrow streets opened up into a wide square; on one side was the market, and beyond it was the port. On the other side sat a large temple dedicated to the sea god, Jalkiba, its cedar doors were propped open. The overpowering aroma of the incense which wafted forth from the entrance of the temple cut through the stench of the city, if only for a moment. A train of priests in their tall horned headdresses emerged from within; at their head was a sage, dressed in leopard fur and golden silk. The sage muttered and raised his hands to the heavens; a soft glow surrounded his fingers, as if illuminated by an unseen candle. Narul could see the insect-like spirits that buzzed round his fingers. The priests raised silver bowls of wine above their heads and cried out to the sky, as the ruby liquid sloshed and stained the dust below. They spoke in archaic tongues, dialects of Kishite not used since the reign of Tamel. They circled the square twice, stamping their feet in a synchronous rhythm, in time with their wailing lamentations.

No one else ever tries to beat me.” “What?” he looked confused again. “Everyone else always lets me win,” she told him, and tilted her head to the side again, “whether it’s games or conversations. But I can tell you aren’t like that. That’s what I mean by interesting.”

A far too familiar ache rips through his chest, his breath catches and his eyes start to burn with tears that have become so common lately that he’s surprised they haven’t left permanent marks on his cheeks. He ducks away, not wanting his darkness to mar their happiness any more than it already has. He slumps down onto the couch, head already in his hands trying to push the tears back into his eyes as if that would erase the fact that they were ever there.  A hand lands on his shoulder, it stretches from scar to shoulder blade, “Eddie?”

Okay, I gave you a few more than one line but I just couldn't help myself. I don't think you'll guess what WIP this is from, I've only shared about it once 👀 Might be some clues in the tags...

The Valley of Triumph (2); 1-2-3-4-5-6

(every paragraph is a chapter!)

One year has passed, and it is Sentinekka's fourteenth birthday, the day she is supposed to see her best friend, Symphony, and her "guide", Ojtaro, again. She and Orlando are running through the Village to begin the Daily Quests they have to do for the Village of Dreams (in my AU, during the Season of Remembrance the Elders create a little assignment for the sky kids. They can decide whether to be a Missionary or not. A Missionary does the quests that a village needs daily). In the meanwhile, Ojtaro is reaching the Village with his family and Joyz, who he still doesn't like at all. They're coming with him to see Sentinekka, but also to see a show of the Theatre. The Performances Guide organized it and invited the whole Village of Dreams and more friends, and Passage is a friend of Performance soo... Yep. After walking through the Forest, the group finally comes to the Valley.

Sentinekka sends Orlando home since he was tired because of nightmares, so she remains alone in the Vault. And, in the Village of Dreams, Ojtaro goes on his way to search his friend. Suddenly, someone bumps into him: it's Judylia, but he doesn't know her yet. He asks her about Sentinekka and gives a description, since he doesn't know that she knows his little Moth. Judylia tells him that Sentinekka is in the Vault to do quests for the Village, and that she has become an amazing person that always speaks about him and Symphony. So, he goes to the Vault.

In the Vault, he hears Sentinekka's voice as she sings A Temporary High by AURORA. He sings it too while following the voice. Sentinekka is singing just to lose some time and relax a bit: she needs to complete one last quests for the Vault, then she'll have to go to the Forest and then the Prairie. The quest is to ride a Cosmic Manta (in my AU there are more different quests!). At the end, they meet on the top of the Vault and hug each other with excitement.

After that little embrace, Sentinekka tells Ojtaro that she knows his secret, she knows he's an Elder, and he gets agitated and scared. She isn't supposed to know. After taking her behind the statue of Lamed, Vault Elder, he lets his stress break free and asks her how she knows all of this. She doesn't really tell him how, but she reassures him that his secret is safe with her. So he calms down. To change topic of discussion, Sentinekka asks him how he has been during the time they've been separated, and the two begin to speak.

The future Elder and his friend are in the Forest. They speak and listen to each other, they talk about being a Missionary or an Elder. Sentinekka became smarter, and now she even knows all the name of the Elders. They were written in old books. She knows so much. It's like the student has surpassed the guide. While he explains to her his feelings about being an Elder, she tries to find solutions to set him free. But there are three only: death, Darkness or the rejection of the Light. And "the Megabird" chose him. Well, she corrects him and says that it's "Megabird" and not "The Megabird". Lmao. But, ANYWAYS: while they speak, Symphony is going away from the Sanctuary Islands to reach Sentinekka. Tewezo and Youssef would like to come with her, but she warns them to not do that since she wants to go alone. She can't wait to see her best friend again... <3

Sentinekka updates her diary about what happened and about the quests she must do in the Prairie. She needs to admire the sapling for some time, then to meditate in the Fields, then go take the Golden Light still in the Fields and then to ride a Manta. When she finishes with her diary, Ojtaro asks her why she's so organized. She explains the duty of a Missionary, and that she loves helping people at her best. He should understand that feeling more than her, that's what she tells him, since he has helped so many Moths like her and Symphony. During that discussion, Ojtaro accidentally says something in a language he must study, as a descendant of the Elders: Yoruba, an ancient language of the Sky Kingdom. Sen' recognizes it and, fascinated by the past, asks him what it means: Ori me means My Friend, he explains. He really doesn't like the stuff a future Elder must know.

Steve had believed in Erika, believed that there was hope, believed that they could make the Sunodos undo what they had done. That there was some way to fix his mistakes. But that all evaporated into uncertainty the moment the source of all his trouble spoke out. Dwarfed in both size and power by his creators, there was nothing he could do. They were all doomed. But Steve had to try. He couldn’t do anything but try. Magnetic fields strong enough to move planets rippled across his bones. He did his best to stand tall as he faced what could only be his end. “YOUR INFLUENCE HAS BEEN LEFT UNCHECKED FOR TOO LONG. WE WILL CORRECT IT AS YOU RECEIVE YOUR SENTENCE.”
