WELCOME TO NAYARALAND
Previous I was Megan the witch, but now I am trying something new and this might help. So here I am.
For those who don’t know, my name is Nayara. I am from Brazil and I am in my mid 20s. I graduated in History and I have the license to teach. I want to expand my brain and learn much more about this area I love so much.
History is one of the many things I love. Football was/is a big part of my life - but to be honest with you, I was away from the sport for a few years and I am slowly falling in love with it again.
And I am a witch. I am a dreamer and being a witch just makes sense.
I want to develop and be the best person I can be. There are many things I don’t know yet, many places to go, people to meet, things to try. I am eager to explore the world around me and the one inside me, which I call Nayaraland.
I am gonna be posting whatever I feel callled to, just because I can.
But seriously, you can expect posts on witchcraft, such as tarot, astrology, mythologies, spells, rituals... whatever I am up to. Also, I am learning about being a woman and I am loving it, so maybe I will write about it in the future. Some posts about productivity too, cause I want to keep track of what I am doing and, hopefully, stick to the things I am writing and inspire some of you.

the less time the better. pt 9.
Tumblr media
PREVIOUS | SERIES TAGLIST
pairing: heimdall x gn!reader
summary: you make a trip to midgard and try to cope with brok's death.
notes: again not a lot of heimdall this chapter but...... y/n needs a moment (or multiple) LOL enjoy everyone and thanks for all of the support! probably 2-3 more chapters depending on how long i make them. decided to add more recent people to the taglists, but if you want to be removed let me know at any time! tws: a VERY dead brok. a lot of angst, probably an ooc sindri but i just wanted a nice scene where reader gets to open up to someone about faye and how hard it was for them to deal with her death. this felt like a good time to do it with a comforting moment between them and sindri.
the silence was deafening.
usually the branches of the yggdrasil felt like nothing. they weren't affected by the weather of the 9 realms, as they were the things literally holding them up. but now, you felt strangely cold as you stood on sindri's doorstep.
10 minutes ago, brok was alive. he was making jokes as he always did, but now... he was gone. he was gone forever, and there was nothing you or anyone else could do to bring him back.
"father," your brother's voice cut you out of your thoughts, "where are we going?" he asked, taking his place by your side. you subconsciously wrapped your arm around his shoulder. you knew atreus far too well and you knew that he would blame himself for brok's death. he was the one who wanted to find tyr, but he wasn't the only one who was fooled by odin's ruse, either.
how didn't you notice it? you had never met the real týr before, but you could only assume that he was a god who put the needs of others before himself. could he still be alive? if he was, could you ever think of him as týr, and not the man odin portrayed him as? he was a god with an incredible reputation and an even better legacy— a god of war who advocated for peace. you could only imagine how he would feel, knowing his image was used for something as cruel as deception.
"home." your father responded. he lifted the key to the mystic gateway, and the door opened. you followed after him wordlessly, and atreus matched your step. he still hadn't moved out of your grip yet and a part of you didn't want him to at all.
your feet touched the branches once again, and your thumb pressed into atreus's shoulder, running circles against his armor. he had gotten so big. where had the time gone?
"father, can we.. i.. i wanna go hunting," he said.
"i will follow."
"we're with you, atreus."
the door to midgard opened, and you stepped through silently. you were met by the cool breeze and light snow hitting you face. the last time you were here was because you were going back to asgard. heimdall wouldn't be with you now if you hadn't went back. you wondered how he was doing back at the house. it was probably just as quiet there. brok was usually the one keeping the place lively.
"which way we headed, lad?" mimir asked.
"in.. the direction of deer." he responded simply. you let go of him, but didn't move to follow him. your father turned to look at you. his eyes were filled with a sadness that you had only seen a few times in your life. when your mother died.. when atreus was ill.. and now, at the death of a friend. "go on," you said. "i'll catch up. there's just.. something i want to do here first." you told him.
"i understand." he murmured in response. you put on a smile, the smallest on you could muster, as a way to reassure him. atreus needed this alone time with him. you would have your moment some other day. he needed this.
"be careful," he said to you. you nodded. he turned, following after atreus. he was probably already visiting with speki and svanna by now. those wolves of his were far too intelligent for their own good. you were sure they knew something was wrong. you doubted he would even notice you were gone right away, and you couldn't blame him for it either.
you looked away from your father's back as he walked away from you and instead turned to look at your house. it was a tiny thing, practically built with sticks and prayers, but it held strong and always did what it was supposed to do. it kept you safe. it kept you safe from baldur all of those years ago, and again with thor and odin. you remembered thor breaking the ceiling as he threw your father and his hammer through it, but even then you knew he would be alright. he always was.
you pushed open the door, and it creaked on it's hinges as it always did. you kicked the snow off of your boots before you stepped inside. it was something your mother did every winter before she died, and you picked up on it at a young age. you closed it behind you and took in a deep breath. in a way, it still smelt like her. your mother's presence was all over the home. no matter how long she was gone, you would always feel her here in midgard.
you ran your fingers across the wood of the walls, and closed your eyes. what would you say to her now, if she were here? what would she say to you?
you thought of the dream you had with her in it, where she told you about the importance of making your own decisions. you could only hope she would be proud. you did exactly what you thought was best, without anyone else's input. if you hadn't gone back to asgard, heimdall wouldn't be on your side. he fought beside your father. he fought for you.
you breathed deep, letting the smell of the wet wood fill your nose. heimdall had changed so much since the first time you met. he was arrogant back then, selfish and cruel. now.. he felt like someone else entirely. was that because of you? if you hadn't shown up— dodged his attacks like they were nothing— would he still be loyal to odin? yes, you supposed. he would be. the thought of changing him made you feel good, like you had finally done something right. going back to asgard was worth it because you helped him see the truth. he hadn't spoken about it, really.. but you hadn't asked about it, either. you figured that he needed the time alone to think, but you would be sure to talk to him whenever you got back to sindri's house.
sindri.. the thought of him filled your heart with sadness. before, he never slipped into the realm between realms in plain sight like that. he always went behind something. you always guessed it was the polite thing to do.. but he had done it directly in front of everyone that time. you had to see him, soon. let him know that you were there for him. you'd been through loss too. losing anyone was hard, but family even harder. you couldn't ever imagine losing atreus. you didn't want to think about it.
you sat down on your old bed— a bed that you haven't slept in in weeks— and sighed. things had changed so much since the day you departed to spread your mother's ashes. you never would've met brok and sindri if it wasn't for that journey. or mimir.. or freya. you met almost everyone you cared about because of her. even heimdall, now. it was weird, saying you cared about him. but you did. you couldn't change that now.
you lied down. your head touched the pillows, and you took in another breath. you had spent so much time here with your mother. this was the place she died, too. at home and warm. at least you could give that to her.
it felt like hours before you got up again, but in reality, it was just a few minutes. everything here reminded of her, and you were glad for it. just thinking of her kept her with you. you never wanted that to change.
you thought back to your dream once again, and pushed yourself to your feet. the river you fished in so many times with her wasn't too far from the house. before she got sick, the two of you would venture out further downstream. in one of those places on the river.. that was where your dream took place. it was the peak of her life with you. but as her illness progressed, she became too tired to fish. she would go out less and less, staying closer to home. you would fish for her, but you were never as good as she was. still, you would come home with a pail full, and she would praise you for it.
you would do anything to hear her voice again.
you opened the door once more and stepped back out into the cold. you had spent so much time in midgard during fimbulwinter, but you swore you would never get used to the weather. you made your way into the woods, and you were met with the river once again. it hadn't changed much over the years, even though it had been some time since you had visited. after her death, you came less and less. the memory of her was too painful, and all fishing did was remind her of her and how she was gone.
you took in a quick breath through your nose and stepped into the water. she had told you once that you would get used to the cool temperatures of the water, and she was right. you didn't shiver or flinch at the cold. instead, you welcomed it like a warm blanket that washed over you.
"i miss you." you whispered. somehow, you knew she was listening. the world was unfair for taking her away so soon. "i love you." you told her. you swallowed the lump in your throat. would she be able to meet brok again? you could only hope so. the thought of it put a smile on your face. at least he wouldn't be alone in the afterlife. he would be with a friend.
you closed your eyes and took in the scenery. the sound of the breeze rushing through the trees, the chirping of birds and cracking of twigs under the weight of an animal somewhere.
it would be okay, you told yourself.
just one more minute.
Tumblr media
you hadn't been to týr's temple in a long time.
you hadn't needed to, after all. with all of the towers closed in every realm and no way for travel, you never needed to go back. and now, it was still unable for use. no matter how many times you passed by it while hunting, you never stopped inside until now.
you knew this is where sindri would be though. this is the place where he made up with brok. this is where he would be, and you were sure atreus knew that too. you were sure that he and your father had already paid him a visit themselves, but you wanted to on your own. you needed to let him know you were there for him, even if he pretended he didn't need it.
it was a long walk from home, which meant you had plenty of time to think. plenty of time to blame yourself for brok's death in the first place. how could no one have noticed? you tried not to think about it too much. he wouldn't want blame being passed around. you knew that.
you sighed as you pulled yourself up the stairs. now covered in ice, you remembered when the lake was water. atreus was much younger then— much smaller. once again, you thought of the good young man he was becoming. it hadn't truly been that long since that journey and yet.. it felt like lifetimes ago.
you stared up at the doorway and pushed it open with little struggle, only a grunt escaping your lips as you did so. the inside was much warmer, and you welcomed the feeling. the familiar sound of hammering filled your ears, and as you looked, you were greeted by sindri's back. brok's body lay on the table to his side, and you blinked away your emotions. this wasn't about you.
"go away," he said without even turning to look at you.
you cleared your throat, taking an awkward step closer to him. sindri was different. his clothing was covered in blood and dirt, and so were his arms. he hadn't cleaned since brok died. how much of that was his blood? you bit at the inside of your cheek, trying your best to shove the thought out of your head.
"sindri.." you started. what was there to even say? you didn't know. instead, you stood there. after a few moments of agonizingly long silence, he turned to face you. he sat the hammer down with a thud on the table, and you felt small under his gaze.
"what?" he snapped. now that his face was in the light, you could see how red his eyes were. he had been crying. you wished there was something more you could do, but.. there was nothing you could do to bring brok back, and that was what sindri wanted.
"i just.. wanted to let you know that i'm here." you told him.
you swore you saw his gaze soften.
"i know you probably don't want company right now or.. or anything like that," you swallowed, "but i just.. had to tell you that." you murmured.
sindri remained silent. he looked away from you and towards the ceiling. you only wished you could read his thoughts. he had become someone completely different. yesterday he was happy. despite the fact of ragnarok looming over him, he was happy because he had his brother there.
"i can't imagine.." you whispered out to him, lips pursed together. "i couldn't ever imagine losing atreus. i'm.. so sorry." you told him. by now, you were standing on opposite sides of the table he had spent so much time working at.
"that's what he said." he said. "atreus." he can barely force himself to say his name.
"i figured he would come."
silence fell over the room again and suddenly, sindri shook his head.
"you don't.. you don't get to be sorry." he said. "you still have your brother. because of him and because of you— i will never have mine back." sindri laid his hand on brok's chest. you felt a pang shoot through your chest at his words, but you didn't argue. you couldn't do that to him. you looked down at brok's body. you had to look at him. that was the least you could do.
"i know." you muttered.
"he brought him into my home." he whispered. "and he.."
"i know."
he looked back up at you, gaze narrowed. you could practically see the whirlwind of emotions going through his mind just by looking at is eyes.
"what do you know?" sindri asked quietly.
"i know what loss feels like." you said simply. "when my mother died, i was.. i was inconsolable. i needed her with me to.. to function, to live." you took in a breath, heavy through your lungs.
"my father.. none of us ever told you what happened to her, did we?"
at his silence, you took it as your que to continue.
"she got sick."
his brow furrowed.
"sick? faye?" he asked quietly. you nodded.
"i thought.. how could a woman as strong as her get sick like this? how could she be healthy one day and then in her deathbed a few weeks later? i didn't understand it. i still don't. but i.. i know what it's like to grieve, sindri. i understand."
he only looked at you.
"i know my apologies won't bring brok back." you murmured. "but i.. just need you to know that i'm here for you."
he swallowed. his took a deep, shaky breath. you knew your words meant very little, but if they provided any sort of comfort to him, your trip out here would be worth it. sindri squeezed brok's hand.
"it's all my fault." you heard sindri murmur under his breath. "what?" you asked, head tilted to the side in confusion. "brok.. he died. before." he told you.
"when he.. when he died, i couldn't handle it. i went to the lake of souls and i jumped in. i.. found pieces of his soul. all of them except for one." he whispered, unable to tear his eyes off of his brother. "and now he.. doesn't have them all. he can't go anywhere. he's ceased to exist."
"that's not your fault." you told him without missing a beat. "brok.. what he said before.." you cleared your throat as sindri's gaze finally shifted up to you. "he said he forgave you. this.. that's not on you. he understood." you muttered softly. he blinked a few times, running his thumb across the back of brok's hand. tears filled his eyes, and you forced yourself to give him a comforting smile.
he said nothing in response.
"can i.. say a prayer?" you asked, your gaze shifting from brok's body to sindri's eyes. he could only nod as he swallowed the lump in his throat.
you breathed deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth. while you didn't have the items you had when you were mourning your mother.. you didn't mind. you doubted brok would've wanted something fancy like that anyway.
"lo, there do i see my mother," you whispered.
"lo, there do i see my father.." you continued, falling onto one knee next to the table. "and my sisters and my brothers. lo, there do i see the line of my people. back to the beginning. lo, there do they call to me. they bid me take my place among them in the halls of valhalla."
"where the brave may live forever."
you finished, pressing your forehead against brok's arm. he was cold. stiff. the last time you did this, it was for your mother. it was the exact prayer you and atreus had said before her funeral. you swallowed, feeling pressure build up in your throat. you stayed there for a moment, and sindri watched you wordlessly.
you knew there was no valhalla for brok. but he was brave. and he would live forever within you, within everyone who loved him.
you pushed yourself to your feet, turning your attention back to sindri. "thank you." you said to him, and he nodded once again. "i'll.. be at the house." you muttered, turning on your heel to leave him to his thoughts. you swore you could feel him watching as you left.
you pushed the heavy doors open and stepped back into the cold of midgard.
lo, there do they call to me. you repeated to yourself.
lo, there do they call to me.

Under his influence (Post Avengers! Loki x female reader)
Read chapter 8 here // Series Masterlist
Chapter 9
Summary : A misunderstanding seperates you two.
Warning: mention of psychological torture, angst, insecurities, self deprecating behaviour
Tumblr media
To say that Loki was angry would have been an understatement, he was livid and he really would have hurt someone if he was allowed to do that. Unfortunately he no longer had an autonomy here, he was just a puppet, at first for Odin, then for Thanos and now these clowns in suits.
Everytime he thought of you it only made him want to cry. What you must be thinking of him? You must despise him, he had no clue about all of this but you didn't know that. Of Course he was getting punished for a mistake he didn't even make, the one person who seemed to actually care about him would probably never want to see him again either after this.
"Loki" He heard Thor knocking on the door, he went back to his chamber after press conference and when the news broke, he couldn't just stay out there with people who seemed so shallow, if they really wanted to leak the story, why didn't they just invite you here to tell the truth? Why did they just replace you like that?
He opened the door and Thor was looking at him with a look of pity in his eyes.
"I need to call her Thor, she must be waiting to hear from me, i desperately need to connect with her" he mumbled as fast as he could but his voice cracked.
"Just calm down Loki"
"Calm down? Calm down? I can not stay calm when I know she must be hurting there, why did you tell Stark about her?" Thor crossed his arms and he had a look of confusion on his face.
"I told him? I just gave him a briefing, why did you open your big mouth and share everything with that Melisaa lady?" He retorted and Loki realised what he had done, he told her every little thing you had done that day.
"I just..she asked me and I wanted to talk about her. I miss her around me, I miss seeing her, I miss talking to her" his eyes teared up and Thor sighed,
"You really do fancy her don't you"
Loki didn't respond this time, Thor went back to Stark and asked him to allow Loki that one phone call he had promised, so Stark, his publicist Dalia and other members from his team called Loki in the conference room. As soon as Loki walked in he stormed towards Tony which made him take several steps to the back.
"Look.. let me just clear one thing up okay?" Tony started speaking so Loki crossed his arms together. He actually didn't have an answer for him so he looked at Dalia, their publicists, she smiled at Loki but he didn't return it.
"I know you think we are evil for doing this but we did get in touch with y/n, that girl you were staying with all this time" his eyes flickered at the mention of your name.
"What did she say? Can I talk to her?"
"Listen to me Loki, she clearly wants to stay away from this drama, she said that she don't feel comfortable with this thing getting out in the world as she's just a normal girl and this would affect her life greatly, she refused to come here, we invited her only first, Melisaa was just the plan b" Tony looked at her as she pulled out a blatant lie, there's no way they reached out to that girl in Minnesota, he didn't even know this girl, all Dalia told him was that y/n wasn't someone who would look good with someone like Loki.
Loki's eyes welled up as he heard that. Did you really not want to get in touch with him? You did refuse to come here with him, it has been only two months but those two months meant everything to him.
"I like to believe that these past two months has been as nice for you as they have been for me"
Your words echoed in his head and they only made him feel more broken.
"I know you don't want to hear this but she said that she wouldn't want to associate herself with someone like you so publicly, your reputation isn't the best, in fact the way she was talking to me it seemed as if she didn't want to stay in touch with you at all" the words pierced his heart. You would never say something like that about him. Right?
"I still need her information, give me her phone number" he mumbled so she placed a slip on the table. He walked towards it and grabbed it quickly, then he stormed out of there. He did not want to believe this, did you really not want to connect with him? His heart felt heavy and burdened by the memories he had made with you.
He sat down on his bed and used the telephone in the room to dial the number, the number was turned off, he kept hearing the same message over and over again. He just wanted to hear it from you once, he wanted to be told that you were done with him too just like everyone else. Silent tears cascaded down his cheeks as he kept trying to connect with you but his attempts were futile, he felt shattered.
All he wanted to do was go back to that apartment of yours and cuddle you on that bed but perhaps you didn't want that anymore.
Tumblr media
You didn't know how much you had cried that day, he hadn't called you and now they were using the story so people would like him, why didn't he call you? Did he not want to talk to you at all? Were you this easy to discard and replace? Of Course you were, that's what had happened to you before so why did you think you would become an exception for a god like him? It indeed felt like a breakup that you never saw coming, you weren't even able to fall asleep because the memories kept you up at night, all you wanted to do was snuggle him and kiss him.
You wanted the time to turn back and bring him back to you but did he even want that anymore?
You couldn't have expected a powerful man like him agreeing to stay hidden in your apartment forever especially with someone like you but he was your friend right then why did he abandon you like that?
"How do you know I have not done just that, maybe all of this is just an act to fool you"
Maybe you were just a fool he played with.
Next day as you stepped out of your apartment you saw Mrs Geller and you could tell she was concerned about you.
"Are you alright my dear?" She asked you so you looked at her confused "Come have a cup of tea with me"
"I have to work" you answered her, so she walked towards you and grabbed your hand to take you to her apartment. Every Time someone showed a bit of concern for you, your eyes welled up on their own,
"That day i thought you were over this breakup but you aren't doing well are you?" She asked you as she made you sit down on her couch and that's when you broke down. You couldn't even tell anyone about him, you couldn't share your pain and keeping it all in only made it worse.
"I am not..I'm not okay" you placed your head between your palms as you started to sob, you weren't eating and you weren't taking care of yourself at all, it was starting to show.
"He was the sweetest man I had ever known and you know before.. before I met him i always thought that I still had time, I used to think that okayyyy I'm not that old I still have hope, i always wanted someone like him and for a moment i did but now he's gone and that hope is gone too because I know I'll never ever find anyone like him again because there's no one else exactly like him, it's just impossible" her eyes teared up as you cried furiously so she laid you down on the couch with your head resting on her lap and she caressed your head until you fell asleep.
Tumblr media
Loki woke up with the sound of loud banging noises on his door, he was having a dream about you, a sweet dream where he saw himself sitting on that ugly sofa of yours with you on his lap, you were giggling about something he had said to you and then you told him how cute he was as you kissed his forehead. He wanted to stay in that dream but he had to wake up sometime, he got up and showered because he had a training session with the Captain and Romanoff, he despised his life here, he truly did.
It's been a few days since that press conference and they were preparing him to fight like an Avenger. Thor was on Asgard for political purposes and he wasn't wanted there so he had no choice but to stay here. Every night when he went back to his room after the long day he always held that slip in his hands and dialed your number but it always told him the same thing, the number always was switched off or perhaps you changed it. He wanted to stop bothering you like this but he missed you plenty, he just wanted to hear your voice once and he would have killed for a chance to hold you just once.
"Loki are you listening? What are you wearing for the party? Our clothes need to match for the pictures" he heard Melissa's voice and it only irked him further, she wasn't at fault here, she was probably doing what she has been told to do but he didn't feel anything for her even though she had tried her best to seduce him, maybe it was because she was trying so hard, she was trying to fuck him while you wanted to be his friend, you cared about him , you didn't just want to have sex with him and be done with him after that, you wanted more the same way he did but then what changed? What made you take a step back?
At the party she clicked several pictures with him, it was an act on his part but he had no choice in the matter, people of midgard were starting to like him and this fake couple they had created.
Tumblr media
You sat down on the sofa after work and opened the Instagram app to stalk the Melissa chick again. She had posted a new photo with him with some cheesy caption, your heart clenched as you looked at his face. He had a smile on his face but why did his eyes seem so sad? That's not how you remembered them, whenever he was genuinely happy his eyes always became so sparkly and bright, they reminded you of the sun rising first thing in the morning. Maybe you were just romanticizing him, you knew this was not healthy for you but you couldn't stop doing this as well. That should have been you with him. Why wasn't that you?
....
"Oh my godd I'm so drunk" he looked at Melissa as she sat down next to him, she was inebriated he could tell.
"Do you want me to walk you to your room?" He asked her politely, he didn't really like her but his mother always taught him to respect ladies so he never really made it clear that he didn't like her, she was just doing her job.
He walked her to the room and laid her down on the bed, he was about to leave but she grabbed his tie and pulled him closer to her.
"Loo stay with me" she mumbled and the shortened name was upsetting for him, it reminded him of you only.
"Please don't address me with that name" he told her as he tried to pull himself away as gently as he could, he didn't want to hurt her.
"Okay Loki.. is that fine?" She raised her voice and he was shocked by her tone "Just stay the night, come on..be a man, aren't you supposed to be a god? How come you don't want thisss?" She mumbled as she tried to kiss him so he pushed her away a little harshly this time to get out of her clutches.
"Do not behave so disrespectfully, you hear me? This is all just a farce and I need you to remember that" he walked out of her room as quickly as he could before this would get uglier than this, he didn't want to go back to his room so he took the elevator to the roof and sat down on the ledge.
It's been a month since he had seen you last, they say that time is the best remedy for such emotional wounds but then how come it was only getting harder and harder for him to forget you?
He wasn't able to let go of those memories he had made with you, you had him enchanted that very first day, he felt a sense of belonging with you, there was a strong emotional connection between you two and you have been hurt before so badly then why did you allow all of that to go to waste? How come you didn't want to explore the depth of this relationship between you two? He waved his fingers and a bottle of beer appeared in his hand that he had stolen from the several parties he had attended in the past few days.
He remembered how excited you used to get whenever he'd do one of these magicky things as you liked to call it.
A smile appeared on his face as he thought about you, he closed his eyes and just pictured himself with you in that tiny little apartment. The bliss didn't last for long because he heard the thunder roaring above him and then Thor was there.
"Welcome back" he mumbled as Thor sat down next to him.
"Aren't you supposed to be down there at the celebration?"
"I am" Loki answered as he chugged on his drink. He could feel his brother's gaze on him so he conjured another pint and gave it to him
"How's mother?"
"She misses you" he chuckled as Thor said that, it just seemed unbelievable at times. Did they even care when he was supposedly dead for a year? Did they even mourn him properly before they moved on and pretended as if he never existed?
"There's something I wanted to tell you" Thor spoke so Loki looked at him curiously,
"Go on"
"I had a conversation with Heimdall before my arrival, that lady of yours. .he said that she always seems miserable" Loki's eyes widened as Thor said that.
"What?"
"Loki that day before the press conference Stark said to me that he didn't think she'd fit into your new life. When you told me that she didn't want to talk to you I thought perhaps she wasn't ready for this but heimdall said she has been miserable without you, she keeps crying"
Loki stood up suddenly as he heard that.
"But I have been trying to connect with her and she just–" his eyes flickered with realization "What if that's not even her information that they gave me? What if they never communicated with her?" His eyes teared up as he thought about the possibility. What if you thought he was the one who didn't want to do anything with you?
"Norns I need to see her now" he stood up and his hand combed through his hair. Why didn't he just go see you in the first place?
"Loki you can't, we can't go there" Thor intervened.
"I can, I can teleport without the tesseract"
"No hold on Loki that would kill you, Minnesota is far from here"
"I have to .. Thor i have to go see her, I'd never be able to live with myself if I continue to hurt her like this" his eyes welled up so Thor sighed and stood up as well.
"But what if they weren't lying, what if she doesn't want to do anything with you?" That was definitely a possibility, a possibility that would continue to break his heart forever but he had to take that risk. He can't live his whole life this way.
"Well then maybe I just need to hear it from her. I promised her that I'd get back to her" his voice trembled as he spoke. Thor knew the moment he met you that you cared about him, you genuinely did and maybe Loki needed this person in his life more than anything, their brotherly relationship has soured because of everything that has happened amongst them but maybe this lady can bring back his older self, he seemed to be the happiest whenever he talked about you.
Tumblr media
It was 2 am at night and somehow you had managed to drift into sleep but then your phone started to ring and it was Mrs Geller so you picked it up.
"Hello Mrs Geller, is everything alright?" You asked her as you felt concerned, she never called this late at nights.
"Oh dear I'm sorry to bother you but I think that guy you broke up with is downstairs, I think he buzzed the wrong number" you sat up immediately as she he said that.
"Wait a second..what?" You turned on the lights, got off the bed and started to pace back n forth in nervousness
"That man.. Mark Johnson..he's downstairs, should I buzz him in?"
You almost dropped the phone from your hand as she mentioned his name, he must have told her the name, that means he was Loki. Oh god Loki was there.
"Ummm yeah ..bring him in.. ummm I'm sorry Mrs Geller, he probably forgot the apartment number "
You apologized and she hung up the phone after she told you that it wasn't an issue. Your heart was beating so fast you feared it would burst out of your chest and explode into several pieces.
You quickly walked towards the mirror but it was a lost cause, you looked awful and there was no fixing it.
As you heard the knock on the door you took a deep breath and opened it. There he was, as pretty as you remembered him to be. He smiled as he looked at you but his eyes were teary. You looked at Mrs Geller and she seemed shocked because this wasn't Mark Johnson, this was Loki in all his loki glory, even though he was in a fancy midgardian suit, everyone knew him by face at this point.
"I promise I'll explain tomorrow" you said to her and he turned around to smile at her. Finally he had come face to face with the famous Mrs. Geller.
"Oh dear ..alright, have a good night..both of you" she exclaimed awkwardly and she shut her door. Before anyone else would see him you pulled him inside and closed the door, the relief he felt in the moment was indescribable. He has missed this place and more than that he has missed you.
"So ummm how are you Loki?" You asked and he smiled. He could sense that you were cross with him but that didn't stop you from asking about his well being.
"I have been better, especially when I was here, I was so much better" you snickered as he said that. Yeah right, that's why he never contacted you again.
"Loki, really what are you doing? I am surprised you remember me still" You mumbled as you walked past him and moved to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
"I am hurt by the notion, I could never forget you princess" he answered you so you glared at him.
"Yeah? Is that why you replaced me with Gorgeous gorgeous Melissa?" Your eyes welled up and so did his.
"That wasn't my decision, I didn't even know of that" his voice sounded so meek and sad that it made you wonder. Oh god what if he didn't know? What if they fooled him?
"Okay umm then why didn't you call?" As soon as you asked him that he just knew that they never contacted you, your anger seemed valid because he was hurt too by your decision of not wanting to do anything with him, you must have thought the same. He took out the slip they had given him from his pocket and placed it down on the kitchen counter so you looked at it, it was a phone number but you didn't recognise it.
"I am assuming that's not yours?" He asked you so you shook your head. He smiled before he turned around and walked towards the sofa to sit down, his knees felt weak, he was hurting you unknowingly all this time and he had no clue.
"I waited for your call Loki and it never came" you mumbled softly, he could hear the pain in your voice and it hurt him to the core. He never wanted to drive you away like this, he never wanted to fuck this precious relationship he shared with you, he just hoped that you'd still want him in your life, that you'd still want to be his friend.
"They said to me that they had asked you to be there with me and you refused to be part of that, you didn't want to get yourself involved and I knew how you felt about this and your family and I just thought you–" you looked at him shocked as he said that. They lied to him, he didn't lie to you, they played you both simultaneously.
"I know i said it was too much at the moment Loki but I never wanted to lose you, you knew what your friendship meant to me"
"I know.. I know darling..i just ..i really wanted to connect with you and hear it from you but that number..that never worked" he sniffled so you sat down next to him and held his hand in yours to gave him a comforting squeeze.
"I just thought you had moved on, and it hurt.. so bad because –" before you could even finish your sentence he went down on his knees in front of you, he grabbed both of your hands in his then he placed his head down on your lap, the sight alone made you want to curl up to him. He was being hurt too all this time.
"Loo" you mumbled softly as you leaned down to kiss his head, he smelled as good as you remembered, whenever the bed started to lose his scent you sprinkled some of that perfume he had given you just to feel him around you and now that he was actually there it felt surreal, it felt like a dream.
"Come here ..I'm sorry I didn't know" you opened your arms so he crawled up, you climbed on his lap and he immediately placed his head on your chest to embrace you as tightly as he could. He was crying and you were crying, it was a mess but at least you both had each other.
"I should have come before, I have hurt you so deeply and I don't know how I'd fix it, you saved my life and –" you pressed your finger on his lips to stop him from blaming himself, you were so angry with him before you had learned the truth because you thought he had abandoned you but now that you knew the anger had dissipated completely and all that you felt for him was the intense love, that never left, it was always there.
"We will fix it" You mumbled softly as you fingers caressed his cheeks "We just need to communicate because people aren't too nice out there okay?" he nodded as you said that, you wiped his tears with your thumb and you both had a moment where you just looked at each other because none of you could really believe that the other person was there and then he cupped your cheeks to kiss you, his lips planted on yours and he gave you soft kiss before it heated up, his tongue slipped into your mouth and he tasted so cold and so sweet like a frozen slurpee. God you had missed him so badly, this morning when you woke up you definitely didn't think you'd be getting to kiss him tonight.
As he pulled away the look on your face made him smile, you had your eyes closed, your breaths seemed erratic and your lips had swollen because of the kiss. He had missed you more than anything and he wasn't going to lose you again. He also noticed the fluctuation in your weight, you were still so beautiful but those bags under your eyes hinted at the lack of sleep and the sunken cheeks reminded him that you haven't been eating enough. Neither was he but his genes made it easier to hide.
"Did you umm eat dinner tonight..i guess I should say last night because it's almost 3 in the morning" you asked him and he smiled.
"I did not princess "
"Why?"
"Well nobody asked, " you shook your head at the answer.
"I have leftovers, I'll warm it up for you okay?" You mumbled softly
"I'll eat if you'd do the same"
"Okay" You pressed your lips on his to give him a peck but instead of pulling away quickly, you pecked on his lips like a bird again and again atleast five more times. He couldn't help but smile at the gesture, this was going to be his favorite thing from now on.
As you got off his lap, he grabbed your hand and followed you. He didn't want to leave your side because he felt afraid of the distance. You felt so hurt by him and he wasn't even at fault here, they had created this situation just to separate you two. And they were supposed to be the heroes. The good guys.
"Lo how did you get here?"
"Thor helped"
"Oh. Tell him I said thanks " you smiled so he pecked your lips before he leaned himself against the counter.
Just being here with you made him feel better. Everything seemed shinier and brighter at the moment.
"Ummm do you have to leave soon?" You asked him nervously, you knew he'd have to leave, you just didn't want him to go.
"He will pick me up in the morning, they can not know that I am here" he answered so you nodded.
"I know..but atleast we have the night" you smiled as you walked towards him, your arms wrapped around his waist as you hugged him then you placed your head down on his chest. After eating, he wanted to take a shower and you had kept the clothes he had left behind so you took it out for him. When he came out he was all drenched and wrapped in that towel that seemed too small for him, your face felt warm at the view so you turned around.
You fixed the bed and then you both jumped on it without wasting a second further, he was holding onto you so tight but it didn't suffocate you, infact you were finally able to breathe properly after so long. That's all you needed in your life now. Just him.
"Lo can I ask you something?"
"Mhhm"
"Why did you come today, what made you do so?"
"Well Thor had just returned from. Asgard and he told me that heimdall has informed him about you, and that you weren't happy without me" he told you honestly.
"I was miserable without you " you mumbled softly so he put his head up from your chest and kissed you "It's kind of eerie that I'm being watched all the time though" you giggled and it made him laugh too.
"I have missed you so much my princess, I never wanted to hurt you like this"
"I know that now, I'm sorry I assumed the worst, I just thought you were done with me" your eyes teared up so he turned you on your back and kissed you, your arms wrapped around his neck to pull him closer to you.
"Wait ..umm are you dating this Melissa woman?" You asked him and he looked at you confused before he understood what you meant.
"Not at all, it's all an act, nothing is real between us"
"So you're not her friend or anything?"
"You're my only friend sweetheart " you smiled and it made him smile too so he kissed you again.
"Well the act is working you're getting really popular on Tumblr" he chuckled as you said that
"What is that?"
"It's like Facebook, girls really want to have sex with you, some guys too"
He blushed as you said that
"Well I do not care for that" He only wanted to sex you up and do other things with. Just you.
He laid down on his side again with his head between the crook of your neck so you embraced him in a bear hug.
"You're so cutee"
"I have been dying to hear that..how cute I am though? On a parameter of let's say one to ten"
"You're like a thousand"
"I broke the parameter" he spoke excitedly.
"Definitely"
"You are absolutely adorable too my princess"
"I have missed you Loki"
"I'll come see you now princess, perhaps not everyday but I will be here" his words eased your worries but then the situation bothered you.
"What if they find out lo? I don't want them to hurt you"
"They can't hurt me Princess, I'm stronger of them all, I hope my silence won't be mistaken for my weakness, i committed a crime and for that I'm willing to atone but I won't let them harm you in anyway I promise " you kissed his forehead as he finished speaking. He was a victim too, you hoped someday he'd see it that way as well. Also they definitely didn't want you to be in his life and that worried you.
"People like me don't gel with people like them you know, they're above me"
"That makes no sense to me, they are all humans, same as you and my precious princess you're way above them all, your kindness is unmatched, you gave me a home when I had no one to call my own, you don't even know how much you mean to me" he mumbled softly, making you heart soar.
"I do now, I do lo and I'm so happy to have you in my life and that you came back"
His fingers caressed your back and they didn't stop until you had fallen asleep, sure he wanted to atone for the crimes he had committed but first and foremost he wanted to take care of the goddess that had chosen to believe in him when nobody did. He never wanted to hurt you again or destroy your faith in him.
In a few hours he knew he'd have to leave you again but he was determined that he wasn't going to lose you this time.

Chapter 9: Summer solstice
They received an invitation to a ball in Asgard. It happened that this year’s summer solstice fell on the same day as Queen Frigga’s birthday and she invited the leaders of all realms to attend the feast.
It was Tony and Stephen's first appearance as a married couple outside their own realm.
On the afternoon of the ball, Stephen opened a portal to the Asgardian palace. He and Tony stepped through, followed by some servants, who carried their luggage.
Although Stephen could easily portal them back home at the end of the night, they had decided to accept the extended invitation of the royal family and stay a day longer.
The ball didn’t start until the night. For now, primarily the guests were arriving – the couple spotted familiar and new faces among them – and getting assigned to their rooms. The hosts would not officially welcome them until later.
Tony and Stephen decided to take a little stroll through the gardens before getting dressed for the ball.
The palace's staff was busy with the final preparations. There was an excited buzz in the air. It was quieter in the garden. People had other things to do and so the two seemed to be the only guests out here.
They made their way past the white orchids, marveling at the looming trees that naturally bent to form an archway, leading them up the stone path. Sunlight peaked through the leaves, creating a shifting pattern under their feet.
To their left lay a fountain at the heart of the garden, water flowing gracefully from its sculpted tiers, creating a soothing symphony of splashes and ripples. At its base, the gentle spray caught the light, casting shimmering reflections on the surrounding feverfew flowers.
As they crossed the black calla lilies, Stephen pondered how they would look in the night. The Asgardian gardens were truly an experience in wondrous exploration.
“It’s funny that we hadn’t met before our wedding,” Tony mentioned and picked up a prior conversation they had had. “Even though we both have been attending Asgardian events before.”
“I have been here more often after my accident to study Seidr. It helped me understand the Mystic Arts better.”
Tony had learned that Asgard had its own kind of magic. Each of the realms actually differed in their magic. Tony had never thought about it before.
"I’ve been here on more occasions as a child with my father. He and Odin were close allies." Asgard and Midgard continued to be allied under Tony's rule, but he didn't see the need to come here as much as his father did. Tony was only moderately a fan of Odin himself. Frigga on the other hand was lovely; and he preferred talking to her.
Thor had been a friend of his since their childhood. They had fought together, laughed together, lost together.
Tony’s relationship to the second prince, Loki, on the other hand was more complicated. They had gotten off on the wrong foot the first time the two met and Tony still kinda held a grudge. Of course they had grown more mature over the years; these days he just tried to avoid Loki.
“Last time I was here solely for entertainment was the Winter Masquerade a few years ago.”
Stephen stopped and looked at him. “The one where Thor and his friend set loose the Wolpertingers in the ballroom?”
Tony turned towards him, tilting his head. “Yes.”
It had been a stupid prank, and he suspected that Loki also had a hand in it. The little animals, some kind of rabbit with wings, antlers, a tail, and fangs, were harmless, but they had caused a lot of chaos.
“I was there as well.”
“You were? Huh.” With the event being a masquerade ball, Tony hadn’t recognized a lot of people. “So maybe we have met before and just don’t know it.”
“Maybe.” Stephen looked at some of the flowers. The palace’s garden was famous for its beauty. Everyone knew the credit went to Queen Frigga, who saw personally to it.
It was weird that no one else was here. That was unusual since guests, who had already arrived, usually had nothing better to do than stroll around and marvel at the host’s palace.
Perhaps Stephen and Tony had inadvertently entered a restricted area.
Tony seemed to think something similar and in a silent agreement they strolled back towards the palace.
As they got closer, they saw Prince Loki descending the stairs from the palace to the garden. He had spotted the two Midgardians and was walking towards them, grinning broadly.
“Oh, how joyful,” Tony muttered dryly. He put on a neutral face. This was an event in the honor of Queen Frigga and he would play nice. For now.
But when he went ahead to approach Loki, Stephen grabbed his arm and held him back.
“Wait?”
Frowning, Tony looked at his husband. “What is it?”
Stephen stared intensely at the Asgardian Prince; watching him as if he were analyzing him. “Give me a second. I have to check something.”
Without another explanation, Stephen strode past him towards Loki.
Loki was now within talking range and had his arms outstretched in a welcome gesture. “I heard you arrived but I had to see it with my-…”
He didn't get any further, because with his first step forward Stephen had created a small mandala disc between his fingers and with his next step he threw it straight at the prince.
Loki looked surprised but was slow to react; the sharp edges of the magic disc sunk into his chest, before he was able to dodge it.
Loki looked down in surprise. Blood was seeping through his tunic.
“What the hell?” Tony yelled, following after his husband. “What are you doing?” He couldn’t believe what he was witnessing.
Stephen was just standing there, watching Loki’s body collapse onto the ground; without any remorse.
His voice had attracted the attention of a guard, who must have been patrolling somewhere in the garden nearby.
“Your Highness!” As soon as he spotted the prince on the ground, he pointed his spear at the two Midgardians.
Tony instinctively reached for the short sword he wore on his belt – it was just for representative decorative purposes, but it had to suffice for defense – and moved between his husband and the guard’s weapon. Stephen made no move to defend himself and for a moment there, Tony wondered if all of this had been an ulterior motive of the sorcerer.
But then Stephen finally spoke up. “Nice show, your Highness.” He addressed the guard.
At this point Tony was pretty sure Stephen had lost his mind. But then a golden-green shimmer went over the dead body and the guard, and both of them vanished.
“Thank you,” said a smooth voice behind them. As they turned around, Loki stepped out from between some bushes. “Did you like my death? Very authentic, not too dramatic.”
“Yes, that almost had me doubting,” Stephen admitted. “But you made a mistake with the setting. By the lack of people in the garden we’re clearly not supposed to be here. Yet you added a guard who rushed to your aid and thus had to stand nearby, while they still allowed us to wander around in this restricted area.”
“You always had an eye for details.” Loki was rather amused than offended, that his ruse had been seen through. Then, he finally turned to Tony, who had listened to their banter irritated as well as irked.
“King Stark. How joyful to see you again.”
Immediately, Tony no longer felt guilty because Loki had clearly listened in on their conversation. He resisted the urge to use his own sword after all and put it back in his belt.
“If you're also in charge of the night’s entertainment, it promises to be an eventful ball.”
“This night is all about my mother. I merely wanted to greet you two.”
“You shouldn’t have.” For real. Tony could have gone without that almost heart attack.
Without commenting on that, Loki looked back to Stephen. “I recently visited Kamar-Taj but it was rather boring without you being there.”
“I’m sure you bothered other sorcerer’s just as fine.”
Maybe Tony was just imagining it, but Stephen’s voice was almost fond. He wasn’t sure he liked it.
“They weren’t as fun as you.”
“Well, this was…something. But surely you’re still busy with the preparation for the feast,” Tony interrupted whatever this was they had going on. “We don’t want to keep you from your responsibilities.”
Fortunately, Loki took the hint. “That’s very considerate of you, King Stark.” His voice dripped with sarcasm and he eyed Tony from head to toe. Like always, he was rubbing Tony all the wrong ways. “You’re not wrong: there’s still a lot to do. I will see you later at the ball.” He saw them off with a bow. "King Stark. Consort Strange."
With a last wink and still a grin on his face, he finally left.
Tony let out a breath he didn’t realize he had held the entire time.
Then he turned towards Stephen and tipped his finger on his chest, his anger rising again. “Next time you kill a prince, warn a guy!”
His husband seemed surprised by his strong reaction, since Loki’s life had never been in danger. “If the illusion had really been him, he would have fended off my spell with ease.”
“How would I know?”
Stephen realized his mistake. “I apologize. I never wanted to worry you.” He remembered Tony’s reaction to the illusion of the prince’s death – defending his husband from the guard – and he smiled. “I’m flattered you would back me up anyway if I were to kill a prince.”
Tony didn't feel like laughing. The adrenaline was only just disappearing from his body, but he still felt on edge. “Do you think this is funny?”
“Again, I’m sorry.” Stephen reached for Tony's hand and placed it on his own chest. “Loki is... particular. He probably would have done worse if his illusion had reached us."
Tony could imagine that. That was why he didn’t like the trickster. “Still. Just… don’t do this again. Ever.”
“I promise.”
“Okay, good.” Tony accepted it for now, not wanting to carry his sour mood into the rest of the evening. They were here to celebrate. “They do have drinks here somewhere, right? I think I need one.”
Not letting go of Stephen's hand, he moved to go back inside the palace.

Finally, it was time to get changed for the ball. Tony displayed his family colors of red and gold, while Stephen stayed with blue. But he had added a red accent in the form of a cloak Tony had gifted him for this very event.
“It suits you,” the king stated, looking at his husband fondly. His previous anger was forgotten. He stepped closer to him and helped him fasten the cloak at the front. There were two brooches, mirrored in shape. One showed the Stark’s emblem, the other one Strange’s. “My colors look good on you.”
“Yeah?” Stephen was blushing a bit at the simple gesture and the compliment.
“Yes.” Tony fixed his husband’s hair – not that it was of any use. By now he knew that there was one strand in the front that refused to cooperate. So it was really just an excuse to get his finger into that soft hair.
Stephen wore the silver circlet of a prince, while on Tony’s head rested one of his crowns. Nothing too fancy but perfect for a night of drinking and dancing.
On the day of his coronation, Stephen would also receive a golden crown to prove that he was Tony’s equal.
“We should start looking for designs soon,” he muttered, more of a reminder for himself than for the sorcerer to hear.
“Oh?” Stephen tilted his head. “Don’t I get the same crown as you?”
“I mean, you can if you want to. But I had something in mind that was a little more… you.” He turned Stephen and himself to the side, drawing his husband's attention to the mirror on the wall, which showed both of them together.
It was unusual for them to see themselves standing so close to each other – at least from the outside point of view– both in their gala uniforms, adorned with jewelry and crowns. Stephen was a little taller, but Tony made up for it with his charm and demeanor.
Stephen liked what he saw. “I’d like that.” He smiled and Tony mirrored it.
“I will call the goldsmith first thing when we’re back home.”
The sorcerer nodded, but paused when he realized that when hearing ‘home’ he thought about the Stark’s palace and really meant it. It had been the first image that had come to his mind. Not Kamar-Taj.
He had finally arrived in Midgard. Not only with his life but also with his mind.
His eyes met Tony’s in the mirror.
And maybe with his heart.

OKAY everyone shut up shut up. It's time for Trip. I have waited for this moment. Waited many weeks since the start of this book club to proclaim (in public) my undying adoration for Trip son of Raider.
I didn't really care much about the Raider my first time reading this series but it was so fucking over for me as soon as they revealed that he has a son. Like oh wait HE'S A DAD??? I'm literally such a fucking sucker you guys. I can't even explain why I've grown weirdly attached to Trip but I just think he's neat. I love him he sucks.
Tumblr media
This introduction page is so iconic to me ok. The fact that there's literally 0 leadup to this or any kind of big reveal. The main story ends and then it just cuts to the Raider like "SOOON I'M HOOOME!"
Also the art in these comics is BEAUTIFULLL I love that you can tell it's all done on physical media. It's such brilliant use of what I assume is markers? Or some kind of other ink-based media. I'd love to be able to reach a level where I can make art like this traditionally god. I've read this comic like 30 times I really like looking at it.
Tumblr media
Anyways shoutout to the Raider for NOT wanting his son to be a time pirate, it's definitely not something I think about all the time or anything.
Tumblr media
Also shoutout to this specific design of George Washington I'm pretty sure this is EXACTLY what he looked like
Tumblr media
It's like Mr. Peabody and Sherman if they both fucking sucked
Tumblr media
Anyways this is my really cool Trip fanart that I made like two months ago I think. Just a glimpse into my dark reality.
I'm gonna end this post with a quick cry for help: is there ANYONE out there that knows if there's English fan translations of the Trip's Strip minicomics??? Because I've never been able to find any and if they don't exist I'll fucking do it myself and probably post them whenever we reach the chapters they're attached to in the book club. I can't let the other English speakers miss out on Trip content this is a great injustice.

Loki + Odin=Marvel!Loki
This is part (2/3) of a series.
This is the most obvious "equation" out of the three, being that all Norse myth adaptations have an Odin and Loki (unlike say, the lesser known Skadi), so they both have high visibility.
Marvel's version of Loki (mostly referring to the comics but some of this applies to the MCU to some extent) is some weird mixture of myth!Loki, myth!Odin, and sometimes the Devil because Christians decided Loki was "the Norse devil" (by this, I mean original Earth-616 Loki being the "God of Evil" and referring to himself as "Satan" in his very first appearance (Venus comics)) that has until fairly recently become more Loki-like (i.e. reincarnation and onwards).
Odin and Loki are quite similar in the myths (They're both SHIFTY BASTARDS and partake in "female interests" to different extents). So it works out especially when Marvel's Loki is raised by Odin.
Marvel!Loki's similarities to Odin:
Myth!Loki is not a master sorcerer (that's myth!Odin) and is merely a shapeshifter. Myth!Loki can shapeshift themselves and others in the myths which is a common ability of the Jotnar. But is not shown to do seidr or seek it out. That's Odin. I am basing it from the Lokasenna where Odin and Loki are arguing over who's more "argr." Basically going "oh yea, well you're gayeyer" at each other. Calling each other slurs. Odin calls Loki argr for giving birth as a woman for "8 winters" and Loki calls Odin argr for practicing seidr and disguising as an old woman. Loki’s shape-shifting is not considered “seidr” and it’s just something Jotnar do all the time. Seidr pertains especifically to clairvoyance magic and rituals, according to Jackson Crawford's video on it.
In the comics, Loki sacrificed himself for himself (to reincarnate and try to break out of predictability). In the mythology, Odin sacrificed himself for himself by spearing himself and hanging from Yggdrassil for 9 days, to gain knowledge (see the runes for Galdr). In the MCU, Loki sacrifices himself for others multiple times to the point where it's a meme. But the thematic elements of self-sacrifice and resurrection are there, and his final sacrifice is associated with a tree.
Loki in the myths is more of a Looney Tunes character sort of schemer. He schemes, cheats, and lies, but it's usually for a short-term goal such as saving his ass from all the wacky situations he ends up in through his fault or by being scapegoated. Not very Machiavellic. He's not plotting to rule take power. Though he may engage in malicious pranks and the occasional murder (Balder). Though aspects of this may still apply to Marvel!Loki.
Marvel comics Loki is associated with corvids. Magpies rather than ravens. But it's interesting his animal that carried a copy of his soul was also a corvid.
However, there are still plenty of similarities with myth!Loki.
Loki is a scapegoat. In mythology, Loki is the only one that receives punishment for misdeeds, and its always disproportionate (mouth sewn shut, horse impregnation, bound by the entrails of his son as a snake drips burning venom on his eyes, etc). This is similar to how the Thor Comics written before 2012-ish expect you not to find Loki sympathetic and add thought bubbles of Loki thinking evil things while being punished to show it was "deserved". He is portrayed as a sympathetic scapegoat and villain within the MCU.
Loki is an outsider. In mythology, he's one of two deities speculated to be associated with the Sámi people, and a Jotnar that was brought into the Aesir fold through a blood oath with Odin ("blood brothers). Some speculate Odin did this to try to prevent Ragnarok, plus Loki was his shifty buddy for a while. In Marvel, he's a Jotun that was adopted into Asgard.
Loki doesn't fit conventional Asgardian gender role standards. Despite Marvel's retcon, it was quite obvious Asgardians had gender expectations (e.g. Thor lashes out at being called "princess" and nearly starts a war over that insult, Sif being a shield maiden being a huge deal, Loki's magic being dismissed as "tricks" and less important than battle in deleted scenes (grain of salt bc deleted scene)).
Loki is closer to his mother. It has been state by John Lindow that Loki's use of a matronymic surname indicates an absent or inadequate father. In the MCU, his adoptive mother taught him magic and is the parent he's closer to. This is not the case in Marvel comics, where Frigga/Freyja (they can't make up their mind how to name her) rejected Loki (*Blood Brothers aka Loki (2004) was so influential to me*). And tried to force them into a villainous role post-reincarnation.
Tumblr media
I think the MCU's Sif and Loki dynamic is weirdly similar to Loki and Skadi (and I elaborate on the previous post 1/3).
Loki causes Ragnarok in some way. In Marvel comics, Loki does still kill Balder and cause Ragnarok often. In the MCU, he technically also started Ragnarok, but it was to save the rest of the realms. In the mythology, after escaping his torturous punishment, he leads the armies of Hel against Asgard on a ship made of nails.
Odin and Loki are considered to be similar in both the MCU and the myths. In the mythology, they were considered to be so similar, it was speculated Loki may be a hypostasis of Odin by Folke Strom. In the MCU, Hela remarks how similar Loki is to Odin.

Who is more villainous – Anakin Skywalker\Darth Vader or MCU!Loki?
There’re two trends in Marvel and Star Wars media – ‘Loki is such a bad person, worst of all’ and ‘Anakin never did anything wrong, he was the best Jedi ever’. Both have sad and tragic backstories, both turn bad, both iconic villains. So I decided to have my own small investigation – is Disney justified in their attitude?
What are Loki’s crimes?
1.Setting up his brother (coronation situation) – ‘to delay his idiotic rule for a while longer’, as Thor obviously wasn’t ready. Evidence from the movie show that he didn’t even want them to go down to Jotunheim – he expected to be stopped by Heimdall and even sent for a guard to tell Odin about their departure [1 - 4.12]. For the sake of ‘Loki making bad decisions’ – count.
2. Usurped the throne – no! Frigga gave it to him [2]. Don’t count.
3. Almost killing Thor – frankly, when he gives Thor a slap with the Destroyer, it looked as if he wasn’t trying to actively kill him, more like lashed out. Still, count.
4. Killing Laufey, his biological father – count.
5. Attempted genocide of the Jotuns – * sarcasm* nevermind that he was doing exactly the same thing as Odin (slow murder is still murder. I’d say Loki even shows more mercy – at least he’d kill quickly, not slowly making the planet decay for a thousand years.). Not trying to say the idea was good, just pointing out the hypocrisy in- and out-universe. Count.
6. New York – in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ we learn that 74 people were lost during the invasion. ‘80 people in two days’ per Natasha are mostly on Fury – Loki had no way of knowing the place would be destroyed. It’s clear from the movie that the facility was already unstable due to tinkering with the Tesseract. Why didn’t Fury stop the experiments and start evacuating people? And the most important factor – mind influence [3, also], though it’s unclear to what extent, and coercion. For the sake of ‘Loki killed innocent people’ – count 154 ( + Coulson, but looking at 7 seasons of ‘Agents of SHIELD’, I find it hard to count him in.).
7. ‘Loki killed his mother’ bullshit – all he did was lead the Kurse out of the prison a little bit faster. Anyway Malekith already knew where the Aether was, it was him who killed her. Why not blame Thor or Odin with the same vigor as Loki? So, don’t count.
8. Loki usurped the throne – he offered Thor the throne, Thor refused [4]. Of course, he lied to Thor pretending to be Odin. I’ll give it half a count.
From the moment Taika Waititi came, it becomes hard to count, as he never cared about canonical portrayal of characters and actively hated Asgard [5]. Both Loki and Thor are absolutely different from as they were shown in pervious installments. I cannot value the movie where a) the director never watched any of previous films and b) improvised 80% of the movie [6]. But to see the full picture of Original Loki (however askew it becomes from this moment), I’ll be brief.
9. Loki being a bad king – paying attention to arts and giving freedom of self-governing to other planets is bad? Don’t count. And yes, Ragnarok is on Odin – Loki had no way of knowing about it, just as anyone else except Odin himself.
10. Loki betraying Thor all the time – this was improvised, such as ‘the snake story’ and ‘obedience disk’ moment [7], thus can’t be seen as direct continuation of character consistency. Don’t count.
I’m absolutely going to ignore whatever crap Michael Waldron did in the Loki series. I refuse to take into consideration the writing of a person who a) never watched an ounce of Loki-related media and b) just rehashed his own original script [8]. And anyway, he’s a Variant!Loki, not OG!Loki, they’re different people.
Sum up: kind of set up his brother, almost killed abovementioned brother, killed his biological father, attempted genocide, killed 154 people, kind of took the throne.
What are Darth Vader’s crimes? (I count everything that he’d done while he was still Anakin. No matter how Disney tries to pretend, Anakin IS Vader, not two separate entities [1].)
1.Slaughter of the whole Tusken camp, including women and children. Yes, they killed his mother. No, still murder. Count.
2. Torture of a prisoner in ‘The Clone Wars’ s2 ep.8. Good guys don’t torture anyone (yes, looking at you, TR!Thor). [Frankly, if we speak about TCW, the situation is a little bit difficult, because war. I pointed out the torture moment, because you can’t claim the character is perfectly good if he knowingly tortured someone with the Empire’s melody in the background.] Count.
3. Beating up his wife’s ex to the pulp in s.2 ep.4, knowing that she’s flirting with him not because she wants so, but because of the job. Count.
4. Slaughter of younglings in the Jedi Temple. Count.
5. Betrayal of the clones. Leading a brainwashed army (who presumably were his friends) to kill his family (Jedi). Count.
6. Choking his wife. Even better, pregnant wife (doesn’t make it acceptable if she weren’t, though.). Count.
7. Trying to kill his best friend / master / father figure, twenty years later succeeding. Count.
8. Slaughter of all the remaining Jedi across the galaxy, destruction of their culture. Yes, Palpatine manipulated him, but he could have helped Mace Windu [2], and none of that would’ve happened. He didn’t, thus making his choice clear. Count.
9. Maintaining the fascist regime across the galaxy for more than twenty years. Count.
10. Choking his subordinates. Count.
11. Trying to kill his Padawan (‘Rebels’, s.3 ep.22), almost succeeding. Count.
12. Maiming his own child and trying to kill him when he refused to join him. Count.
In case of Vader, lots of his kills remain off-screen, and here go speculations. Different sources (Reddit, ScreenRant, Youtube bloggers) name different numbers from 55 to 69 direct kills throughout all the movies\TV series (not counting tie-in comics). Everyone killed directly and indirectly off-screen hard to estimate – from what we know, numbers can go up to millions.
Sum up: killed at least hundreds of innocents throughout the galaxy, killed or tried to kill members of his family (at least 10 Jedi + Luke), children murders, tortures, completed genocide, maintained a fascistic government.
Interestingly, everything Vader is accused of – true. I couldn’t find any instance where he was blamed, but in fact was innocent. Yes, originally he was trying to save Padme. But a) at what cost? b) save her for her or for his own feelings for her? [3] He was choosing being as he was for many years, he wasn’t mind-controlled or anything.
Also it’s interesting to count the time span of their villainy. Loki committed his crimes in short period of time, after that going into ‘antihero’ mode, helping Thor more than harming. Anakin, on the other hand, took the chance of stopping his villainous acts only once – in ROTJ. Loki – roughly 2 years of his 1053-years-long life. Anakin – 23 years of his 45 years long life.
So, after this investigation, I believe the winner is obvious.
Before anyone says anything about my personal preferences and biases: I like both of them, but also try to be objective – both of them have done bad things, although they’re both sympathetic. Of course, we can delve into Loki’s and Anakin’s mental traumas – but I deliberately didn’t dive into this, because I went into ‘crimes are still crimes’ mode, and giving full psychological portraits wasn’t the goal anyway.
But for me it’s weird that a ‘family-friendly’ company tries to ‘forgive and forget’ Darth freaking Vader and simultaneously blames Loki of all the things possible, even those he’s never done. In terms of crimes committed Anakin wins without questions, so – why?

My top ten favorite Christmas movies
Rise of the Guardians. Technically not set at Christmas but Santa is a character in it.
An American Tail - Actually set during Hanukkah so it's technically a Hanukkah movie.
10. Nearly all versions of A Christmas Carol. They may all tell variations of the same story but I have a soft spot for them. The animated one with Tim Curry, the Kelsey Grammar musical, the Jim Carey motion capture version, the 80s Scrooged version with Bill Murray.
In fact the ONLY version of A Christmas Carol I don't like is that awful 2019 BBC mini-series version that adds child molestation, sexual assault, urinating on a grave, non-Forgiveness and all together just a mean, cynical version... That version missed the point of the story entirely and taints all other versions by simply existing. That's how much I hate that 2019 version.
But I stand by that I love nearly all versions of A Christmas Carol. There are several adaptations and only one bothers me.
Specific favorite version of a Christmas Carol is The Muppet Christmas Carol - Despite being done with muppets this is one of the most faithful adaptations of a Christmas Carol while also having some great muppet humor.
9. ALL the Rankin Bass Holiday specials, stop motion and cell animation. I love all of them. And they're mostly a shared universe like Universal's Monster movies or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Only some of these are movie length. My favorites change based on my mood whether Twas the Night before Christmas, Nester the long eared Christmas Donkey, or Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July.
Currently my favorite is probably The Life and adventures of Santa Claus, based on the novel by L. Frank. Baum. It's technically set in the same universe as The Wizard of Oz books but you'd have to read the original novel to know that. There's also a cell animated adaptation but I prefer the 80s stop motion version.
In this story Santa was raised by faeries in an enchanted forest and the story is actually these immortal beings determining if he's worthy to be made into an immortal too because if he isn't made immortal he's destined to die that night. Needless to say, they grant him immortality.
Again, my favorite is subject to change based on my mood.
8. Legend of Hell House - I'm only putting this on the list out of technicality. The movie ends on Christmas day and that's when the ghost is defeated. I first saw this movie late at night with my friend Lorie. We decided to watch it because Roddy McDowall was in it. And we were so sure he would die. He was the sort of character that dies in those sort of movies. He had been in the house before. He was meek, timid, and kind. He was nerdy. It was a cliche that someone like him would die. It was a relief and surprise when he turned out to be the hero of the story.
7. Jim Carey's The Grinch. I have a soft spot for this once since my mother loved it so much.
6. Marvel Superhero Adventures: Frost Fright! Most people don't even know this exists but it's a Marvel superheroes Christmas special / movie. It even taught me the old Nordic version of Santa (may even be a persona of Odin). Jolnir (Yule-near). However in this version Jollnir is a light elf.
5. The Addams Family Christmas. Technically not a movie but an episode of the 60s Addams Family, it's just very sweet. The kids are told Santa isn't real so all the adult Addams decide to prove to them that Santa is real by dressing up and giving them gifts. Meanwhile while they're distracted, the real Santa shows up.
4. Ghostbusters 2 - I know this sounds weird but it's set right after Christmas and ends on New Years day and there's a lot of Holiday feel to it. Also I kind of like Ghostbusters 2 more than the first one. I'm weird. I also loved the Real Ghostbsuters animated series episode where the Ghostbusters accidentally bust the ghosts that haunt Scrooge and then they had to rescue them and save Christmas.
3. Edward Scissorhands - I love this movie and somehow often forget that it's a Christmas story even though it's a bitter-sweet fable about the origin of Christmas snow. And it has such a beautiful, Haunting score by Danny Elfman. The score is gorgeous. And Nostalgia Critic points out that much of the atmosphere comes from Danny Elfman's haunting score. When Kim is dancing under the block of ice without the music the scene is weird and awkward. The music makes it.
One time my mother and I were at the mall and I saw this nice anniversary edition DVD of Edward Scissorhands in a steel case. My mother and I went to McDonalds and while at McDonalds she handed me the money and said "Go back and get that Edward Scissorhands." That was my favorite Christmas gift that year.
2. Over the Garden Wall - This is a TV mini-series but when spliced together it makes a movie length story. And all the visuals are inspired by vintage New England Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas cards. Bonus mention: I forgot to mention the TV mini-series adaptation of Hogfather. It's a bit like Nightmare before Christmas. Set in Terry Ptatchett's fantasy Discworld, Death (The Grim Reaper) has to play the part of The Hogfather (Their world's version of Santa) one year. And it's actually very sweet. There's a scene where he saves a little match girl that chokes me up each time. And I love the moral that we need to believe in intangible / impossible things like love and justice in order to make them real.
1. Nightmare before Christmas - This has been my favorite movie since I was eleven-years-old. Not just favorite Christmas / Halloween, or Tim Burton film. Just favorite film, period.
I saw this with my Birthday money, it came out right before I turned twelve. I paid for my mother, brother, cousins and I to go see it. As soon as "This is Halloween" started I knew I was hooked.

The Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes series watch
This Hostage Earth written by Michael Ryan The Fall of Asgard written by Christopher Yost A Day Unlike Any Other written by Christopher Yost
In the episode begins with, The Enchantress and Executioner attacting Karnilla, the norn queen to take the Norn Stones, powerful magic objects for the Masters of Evil. Zemo has recruited several more villains to the team. Meanwhile, the Iron Man unveil a device that can open portals between dimensions and plan to use it to bring Thor back to Asgard. Cap suggests using an old Hydra castle as the test site, where back in WWII he saw the red skull use a portal to capture monsters from other dimensions. Scaning the castle they detect eight points of dimensional energy around the world.
The Masters of Evil have taken advantage of an opportunity to divide the Avengers. Each Avenger faces off against a separate villain. Meanwhile, Thor faces off against Baron Zemo and the Enchantress. They are bringing the Norn Stones to Earth which is causing Norse creatures to appear all over the world and merge the nine realms. This is a significant threat that the Avengers must act quickly to prevent. However, there are greater plots at work. Zemo betrays the Enchantress, hoping to claim the creatures of the nine realms for his army.
The Avengers fight their enemies and win. They destroy the Norn Stones on Thor's instructions, which severs connections between the realms. However, the Avengers vanish into these other realms, and Thor ends up in Asgard where Loki taunts him from Odin's throne.
Hawkeye wakes up in Alfheim and fights against Loki's army with the help of the light elf Faradai. Captain America is pulled into Niffleheim where the souls of the Howling Commandos torment him, except for Bucky and Logan who never died. Captain America disperses the souls and refuses to give up. The one behind the illusion is Hela, daughter of Loki and ruler of Niflheim.
Black Panther was chased by Dark Elves' tortured souls in Svartalfheim, but managed to escape through a well that led to Alfheim where he met Hawkeye and Faradei. The ogres were taking Asgardian prisoners to labour and concentration camps in Vanaheim when the Hulk showed up and defeated them with a powerful thunderclap. As a result, the Warriors Three thanked and respected him for his strength and 'gift of battle'. Iron Man fights a giant named Ulick and escapes with the dwarf king to the forges of Nidavellir. Meanwhile, Thor is still in Loki's clutches, and Loki promises that he and Baldur will face execution soon.
The Avengers prepare for the final battle against Loki. Stark is seen crafting a new suit of armor with the help of the Dwarf king, while Ant Man and Wasp ride with Sif and the Valkyries. Hawkeye, Black Panther, and Faradei arrive on a flying ship from Alfheim. All the heroes, except for Iron Man and Captain America, assemble on the Bifrost. They have to fight an army of mythological creatures and traitorous Asgardians. They bring each other up to speed on recent developments and agree to storm Asgard together.
Captain America is trapped in Niflheim and makes a deal with Hela to send him to the battle. Meanwhile, Loki summons Hoarfen the Ice Wolf to defeat the Avengers, but Cap arrives just in time and helps the heroes win. The heroes are able to breach the inner sanctum and the final fight with Loki begins. Iron Man arrives with a new suit of armor made of Uru the same metal that mjnoir is made from. The Avengers split up to free Thor and find the source of Loki's power. Thor reveals they have to sever his connection to Yggdrasil, the World Tree, to defeat him. They join the fight. Loki is powerful but is defeated in the end.
Hawkeye, Panther, and Ant-Man discover Yggdrasil, the mythical tree that connects all of reality. Initially, they are reluctant to destroy it, but when Loki starts to lose control and risk starting ragnarok and destroying the 9 realms, Ant-Man uproots the tree, causing the Odinforce to drain from Loki and back into Odin. As a result, Odin awakens immediately. The Avengers return to Earth with great success and earn the respect of the gods themselves. As for Loki, his punishment is revealed to be the same as in Norse mythology: a serpent will drip venom into his eyes until the end of time.
So the big three-part finale was all in all pretty great. The creators did a great job of giving each character a moment to shine. The character with the most interesting character arcs was Hank, who was struggling with his identity as a superhero but still wanted to contribute to the team. Hawkeye was witty and clever as always. Steve has a great moment where he shows his drive to be a hero and help over any kind of want for himself when it is offered. He also gets to be a little sassy early on which is always. If anyone ended up left out it was ironically Thor, who was a damsel in distress for most of the three-parter.
The animation in this three-parter was top notch with Wasp, Ant-Man, and Iron Man all getting an Asgardian upgrade and looking great. This is an episode where Jack Kirby's influences on the design are felt. The action scenes were all well done with every getting a chance to shine. Even the the Asgardian characters.
The episodes also do a good at environment and world-building. We learn what the 9 nine realms are, see a bit of them, and see how they function a bit. Which is so much more than ever get in the MCU. The stakes in EMH feel so much more real because takes the time to world build.
As I said way back in the Thor introduction episode I feel like the family dynamic and backstory are a little lacking. Loki is a huge improvement over Ultron from the last episode, but he's still not the villain. Don't get me wrong the voice actor is giving it his all and there are moments where is enjoyable in what bastard Loki is. But there just feels like a lack of dramatic weight to it all. Like, we never learn at what point Loki went from mischief-maker to straight-out villain and the narrative seems indecisive if all this is a new development for Loki or if he was always like this. Which takes away from the dramatic weight of Thor's brother being the villain. It feels like Loki could be anyone and things would play out the same.
My overview of the first season of EMH overall is that I truly think it was fantastic. I would be pretty hard-pressed to pick who my favorite character was. We have Steve Rogers being his perfect good-hearted self. I did not expect to end up liking Hank Pym as much as I did. Love the fact that Hulk is a fully realized character with a personality and motives, something that is so absent in all of the movies. T'Challa was a great addition to the team as kind of a quit foil. The creators understand the heart of all these characters and know how to utilize them well.
I also adore the animation of the series. I love it when characters design followers' rule of silhouette. The frame rate and motions were pretty smooth and sleek and the show's use of colors and shadows was always so on point. I look at comic book cartoons from the past decade and they more often look so bland and generic. Not necessarily bad but dull. This show never does and also does expressions really well. I could gush all day about how much I liked the animation style.
I give The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes a huge recommendation. It is a good time. After so many recent disappointments in the MCU, it's a nice reminder of why I liked Marvel stuff and hope that in the next 10 years or so it hits that nostalgia cycle. If people really wanted to they could so all some deep dives and metas for the characters.

hiii im absolutely in love with your writing but especially append just because of how much i love the idea of WHAT IF hela grew up with thor and loki and if you'd like to just rant/write some HCs of the odin family in that universe or any other ideas drabbles you had but never actively wrote it out i would gladly eat anything you feed me hfkshsjshsjs i love the idea of hela being a protective older sibling (esp for loki) like the scene where they found loki and the W3+sif in the vault or when she almost(?) killed everyone when she found her brothers tortured im just so AHHHDKSJSKSKKS [ps. hope your anxiety isnt too bad and you can have decent sleep soon!! c:]
Ty! I was able to get some sleep. I'm still waiting for the energy crash though.
Append junk off the top of my head:
There was this whole chapter I never finished about Loki falling down and old magic well and getting lost for like 4-6 days and that's when Hela realized she cared about him
Hela's sculpture hobby was based off of me
I didn't want Hela to have magic but had no other way to explain the sword summoning. When I wrote Porcelain later, I reworked the magic out.
The abuse between Odin and his kids was originally going to be more explicit but I ultimately removed it
Hela in Append had unrepressed Mom in Append
Originally that guy Hela punches was sexually harassing her but I removed that
The draft on ao3 is NOT the draft that I posted orginally. I reworked it in Feb of 2019
Yes I have lots of unpublished drabbles
Append was actually supposed to BE just a bunch of drabbles. Eventually it turned into a fully fledged story.
Loki didn't get a pov until Insurgency after chapter 9 and I remember being like "huh. We never did get into your head after Thanos, did we?" as I wrote it
Insurgency was actually supposed to be waaay longer but I cut a lot because it didn't fit.
I think Hela has a blanket in there that was givne to her by her mom
I haven't read this fic or thought about it in a while. But that does ultimately remind me:
The Append series is actually not done. I think it's not even marked as complete.
And the reason WHY is because I was working on the myth where Thor's hammer gets stolen and he and Loki pretend to be bridesmaids and I never finished it. I actually opened the doc a few months ago look at it and realized there is some potential in it, so idk. We'll see. I'll go through my drafts and see if I have any unhinged drabbles to post. Thanks for the ask! Please feel free to ask more specific questions! Always willing to discuss fics in detail.

Duck Comic Reading Club Week 12: Paperinik New Adventures: Missing
Tumblr media
I know, I know, I'm a week late. Sometimes, that happens, man.
This issue is a series of short tales of PKNA side characters, and I really liked it.
The story begins with our favorite federal agent, Mary Ann Flagstarr. I like her, but in Earthquake she was badass, and here looks like she's going to the mall with the gals.
Tumblr media
Anyway, PK has gone missing, and she's tasked to find him.
She now has to interrogate the people who are closer to the masked hero. She starts with the always shining Angus Fangus.
The jerk knows nothing (big surprise), and when he's leaving, a bunch of weirdos ganged on him. They all claim to have the story of a lifetime. Angus ignored them, but took one letter. Said letter had evidence about a toy factory producing criminal robots. Like an inverse Robocop.
And, could you believe me when I tell you that a mob robot erupts in his apartment?
Tumblr media
What are the odds?
The robot is obviously after the letter, and Angus was ready to give up. But...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He really liked his raincoat. He beats the robot up, but, this is Angus we're talking about, the robot was fine.
Of course, he was saved by the always noble PK. He even fixed Angus' coat. What a hero.
Tumblr media
Flagstarr moves from Angus, and now is time to investigate Lyla.
Tumblr media
Wow... I mean... wow...
Anyway, Angus told Lyla about PK being missing, and she immediately got to work. She calculate the odds, and arrived to the conclusion that PK is in jail.
Tumblr media
Lyla infiltrated in Time-0, the time prison, looking for her friend. What she didn't expect was a chrono-quake that affected various systems.
The situation was getting out of hand, when Lyla throw away her cover, and saved the day.
Tumblr media
Her superior asked of her intentions and she respond asking about PK arrest. Turns out, he wasn't arrested. At least Lyla escaped repercussions thanks to her great job.
Back to the present, Flagstarr interrogates Camera 9.
Tumblr media
I want to point out, this lady didn't point her gun to Fairfax, the guy who almost destroyed Duckburg, but did it with poor Camera 9.
Tumblr media
We change POV and now is Raider Time! Get it? Because he's a time criminal? So sorry. Anyway, looks like Raider escape from prison again. People in the future is not good at keeping criminals locked. I guess they're too busy washing their long hair.
Uno tried to fool Raider with a digital representation of PK, but Raider wasn't fooled at all
Looks like he's in this time to steal a unique piece of digital art.
Tumblr media
This crazy so-called artist was making the first NFT. Please Rider, take that thing away.
Uno once again tried to fool Raider with a hologram of the criminal himself, but once again, fails. Or does it?
Tumblr media
Why the hell would you give any detail of your plans?
Why Raider? Why?
Tumblr media
Of course, Raider is captured, and all thanks to Uno, or should I say, Odin, who knew the exact day Raider needed to go.
He'll be on the streets for lunch.
We have a brief Scrooge appearance, where he proves once again that he's a jerk.
Tumblr media
Thing got a huge turn, and now we're in space, with our favorite alien, Xadhoom. She has catch a signal, and needs to investigate it.
She arrived to the source of the signal to made the greatest find.
Tumblr media
PK had found her people. I'm going to be honest with you, I never saw the twist coming. I guess that the idea of Xadhoom being so happy with the people she thought would never see again got me blind.
It was too precious to be true.
Tumblr media
This time, Evronians went to far.
Well, at least they will get what they deserve.
Tumblr media
Back to Flagstarr, she's in Donald's house. The only relevant news is that HDL are back from Africa.
Tumblr media
For the last story, Zyrkon, the leader of a obviously inferior race, send his two dumbest looking recruits to search for PK.
Tumblr media
Evronians are normally incompetent, imagine this two. And of course, this two got beaten up so hard by different civilians, they had to escape from the planet.
Just to find…
Tumblr media
You two are so dead.
To wrap things up, Flagstarr receives an email ordering to stop the search. And we found out that Uno was behind Flagstarr's mission. He was trying to find PK.
Tumblr media
That's kinda cute actually.
And PK?
Tumblr media
He was in the Tibet with Everett Ducklair all along.
This was a fun reading, I enjoy those stories (some most than others). My favorite PK comic, after Earthquake of course.

Pics: The 9 Worlds & Ragnarok.
1. Marvel's 9 Nordic Worlds - which are all seen as being located in various different dimensions.
A nice simple diagram with all of the goodies accounted for... Almost.
2. Neil Gaiman's wonderful retelling of all of the important Norse tales.
Reads like a great fantasy series...
Highly recommended.
3 & 4. Ragnarok, the last major battle between the Aesir & all of their enemies!
The resurrection scenes afterwards are usually seen as a Christian additions.
But, some other scholars think that Ragnarok is actually part of a cyclical belief system.
5. Odin, powerful as he is, ends up being swallowed by Fenrir (marsh dweller), a wolf that the Aesir bound by treachery.
We shouldn't be surprised that Fenrir became the Norse Gods's enemy.
All because the Aesir feared Fenrir's growing size & strength...
6. Thor slays Jormungandr (vast binder) but, he only survives this dragon's poisonous breath long enough to take 9 steps!
This is usually seen as a reference to the volcanic fumes of Iceland, where a lot of the Nordic tales were re-written (?) - 200 years after the island first converted to Christianity.
1914: Output - Commentary.
Okay, let's get it out in the open right away. Lovecraft got Norse mythology wrong!
1st, although Odin is the All-Father, he's not the God resurrecting the Earth after Ragnarok.
During the last battle, Odin is quickly swallowed by Fenrir, 1 out of many giant wolves!
No, it's a reborn Balder who raises the Earth out of the ocean once again.
Then, there's the usage of English divine names for the Norse Gods - instead of the Anglo-Saxon versions.
Odin should be rendered Woden, etc...
Howard also didn't understand that the Aesir weren't all-powerful nor in charge of Nature.
Odin, for 1, rules over the warrior dead & is the war god of this elite force.
He's subordinate to Nature - &, the Norns...
Further, HPL seems to see the U.S. as the land that emerged after Ragnarok.
Europe, at this time, was destroying itself in the Great War (WW1).
Woden stands in for Christ - not far from many interpretations of Nordic myths.
The odd idea of "Social Darwinism" is central to this poem. If the strong kill the weak, they'll be rewarded up in Valhalla...
Lovecraft comments that "despite... peace advocates (our Christian civilization), rests but lightly upon Germanic shoulders.
When they're aroused - in the heat of battle - Teutons revert in mind.
They'll lose themselves in the fighting zeal that baffled Caeser & humbled Varus!
Some white folk, it seems, will use their ancestry to justify violence & bigotry.
But, many societies have allowed the sort of violence, slavery & inequality that deserves our condemnation.
We can't pretend that such evils aren't part of most human cultures.
After all, such crimes continue to this day...

Odin, the All-Father, sees her as nothing more than a pawn to be played at the right time, but to what end? Can Eibhlin save herself, Loki and the nine realms with the help of The Avengers against an oncoming evil no one saw coming, or will she be stuck watching as the realms burn around her without a hand to hold?

Try Before You Buy - Tiny Thor
Tumblr media
Hello and welcome to try before you buy, where I find a game coming out and give it a test to let you know whether I feel it’s worth testing. These may be available demos or just indie games that got money to expand into full fledged games with more content. In any case, I will also provide links to where you can download these and try them on your own as our opinions may differ. Today I’m taking a look at a game that caught my attention from a press release, months after it was announced for the Nintendo Switch and Steam. I’m a big fan of nostalgia and when I saw Tiny Thor, it immediately brought me back to playing my Super Nintendo Entertainment System. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MfeFK7DPUI Tiny Thor is set for a Q2 release this year and is scheduled to come out on the Nintendo Switch and on Steam. Asylum Square Interactive gmbH developed the game and Gameforge 4d GmbH published it. In Their Own Words Asylum Square is an independent games developer, based in the Black Forest in Germany. We grew up with game systems like the Sega Master System, SNES or the Commodore Amiga and C64. In 2014 Jochen founded Asylum Square to create games he would have loved to play back then and there on the living room carpet. To achieve this we work together with a bunch of very talented people and industry veterans. Some of them even were part of those original, inspiring experiences and have joined us on our current endeavors. Tiny Thor features 16-bit graphics and gameplay centered around using Mjölnir, leading our Norse hero through challenging levels filled with all kinds of obstacles. It offers tight controls, fast-paced action and an experience tinged with nostalgia. Tiny Thor will feel familiar to retro fans, but also unique in its own ways. It features true 16-bit pixel art from Henk Nieborg and an original soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck. Starting as a relatively simple platformer, Tiny Thor unfolds along the way, as you unlock all kinds of abilities that you dreamed of having back in the day. The platforming is punctuated with exhilarating boss battles which will test the son of Odin. Each realm features a set of almighty adversaries who want to stop Thor on his way to becoming a true god. You will need to make use of everything you learned along the way to beat them! Features - Master ricocheting hammer throws to overwhelm enemies - Learn awesome special abilities - Explore over 30 handcrafted levels across three distinct realms - Challenging boss fights, each with unique mechanics - Rattle your brain to solve tricky environmental puzzles - Discover tons of secrets and collect hidden gems to unlock challenge levels - Enjoy the story of a boy taking responsibility My Experience and Thoughts As I mentioned above, I am a huge fan of nostalgia. When they said that this was a love letter to the 16-bit era, they weren’t kidding. If you were to sit this game down in front of me when I was 9 and have me play it, I wouldn’t bat an eye, because it looks like it belongs on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. This game did also catch my eye, because with the rise of Marvel movies, when you say the name Thor Chris Hemsworth comes to mind. So, a side scrolling game with a sprinkle of nostalgia topped with a Norse god that came to comics and then to movies is a recipe of a game that I have to play. You start the game (demo) being told that it’s your birthday and that you have to get home to get the present from your father Odin. This level is really just a tutorial with some story and it’s meant for you to learn how to control Thor. I played this on Steam via the demo and used my Xbox Series X controller and it worked just fine. The game recognizes the controller and the dialogue boxes and button prompts change from keyboard to controller to aid you. You quickly learn that this is a platformer as they are blue gems scattered throughout that are there to be collectables as well as a guide to the correct way you should be going. If you ever get lost, just look for the blue gems and use them as your guide to where you need to go. During my gameplay there isn’t a significance that I noticed with the blue gems, only to be something you collected. This is topped off by a counter in the top right showing you how many blue gems are in the stage, so if you find yourself going a while without grabbing a blue gem then you probably missed an area. The blue gems aren’t needed to pass the level, but if you’re all in on getting every collectable than your time in a level may differ from others. You come across enemies and realized that jumping on their head is the best way to dispatch of them. This game mechanic isn’t set to just 16-bit games, but it’s a mechanic that works and has worked since I Super Mario Bros.. You don’t have a life bar, but you do find hearts with numbers in the middle. It was later that I found out that this allows for you to get hit without dying, but when you do get hit the heart leaves your body and starts bouncing around with the number in the middle counting down. The tough part about tying to run after it and getting it back is that fact that it may bounce off a cliff or to the enemy that initially hit you and it may be difficult to get back. This is also a nostalgic throwback to Super Mario Bros. where if you hit a question mark block and a mushroom came out, it may go the opposite way of where you are and you must go chase it down. As you jump on enemies to take them out you’ll eventually come to a large rock where electricity comes out when you get near it, these are save points. Like in most games with available save points, these are scattered around and you’ll more than often find them after completing a difficult section of the level. The one thing that I didn’t catch until I came across it a few times were white rats showing you were hidden rooms are. There are fake walls that you can walk through to get more gems or hearts. So, if you see a white rat walking around, do a quick once over in the area and look for any hidden rooms with potentially helpful items such as hearts. You make it to your father and are given Mjölnir as a gift. You can throw the magical hammer and it will ricochet off the walls and bounce around the level hurting and eventually taking out enemies it hits. You can also use the hammer to open pathways and to grab items that may be out of reach, such as gems. Even though the hammer will bounce all over where you are, if you press the same button to throw it again while it’s out of your possession it will return to you. There’s a bit of geometry that comes into play, so you’ll need to take time and aim it so it will eventually get to where you want it to go. This will be your main attack along side your jump and both will work to aid your adventure on through the rest of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdXrVAbDFmk The story progresses and you start making your way to different levels and experiencing different items to find. Along side the blue gems, there are also red big gems that are hidden and can be used to open different pathways. I feel like the game is rewarding for taking some extra time to explore the levels they’ve built. You also learn that Thor is not much a swimmer and dies if you hit the water. Luckily there doesn’t seem to be a set number of lives available, so if you need to take an hour and try to complete a section so you can get to the next save point, then that’s what you’ll be able to do. I was briefly stuck at the end of the first level as it didn’t really end, but I found something that looked like a portal with the option to quit level. Surely I didn’t want to quit the level, but after a few minutes I realized that the wording may not be the bets, and that’s how your end the level once you’re done collecting everything. The second level is where the difficulty ramps up when it comes to enemies. What you think is harmless snail with small spikes on his back is actually one of the more frustrating enemies you’ll meet during this demo. Throwing your hammer at it will do nothing, but it will become vulnerable when it pops out of it’s shell and starts walking towards you. You have to treat it like a Boo from Super Mario World and turn your back to it and then throw your hammer, jump over it when it comes back to you and have it hit the snail. This is simple enough when it comes to one snail, but when it comes to multiple it can be tricky. You can even bounce your hammer off a snail that is in it’s shell so it comes back and hits the snail behind you. The first big boss you fight is a forest creature who drops blocks like Tetris pieces has lark vine walls come up from the world The object is to hit the monster with your hammer, but if there are walls blocking the way you’ll have to bounce it off the falling blocks so it destroys the wall and breaks through to the monster. I really like the set it and forget it aspect of the strategy asking to be used. You can have it bound back and forth until it hits the monster all the while being able to jump to safety. I also like how there’s a tad bit of a delay when the blocks emerge when they fall, this gives you time to jump out of the way or call back your hammer if you’re trapped and a block is going to fall on you. After defeating the monster you acquire the ability to perform a double jump. The map opens up and instead of going to the next level you have two options. There is a blocked pathway I couldn’t get to because I accidentally missed a gem and couldn’t unlock it, and there’s the other path. Now I don’t know what levels 3-7 had but for some reason the difficulty jumped up by a lot. I’m not talking about enemies, I’m talking about puzzles that involved tough enemies. The bees so far must be my least favorite enemy to face. Even with bouncing your hammer all over the place it’s hard to take them out. I spent almost an hour on a puzzle where I had to step on a flower and bounce my hammer off a wall to hit another flower, which caused it to blow air under me and allow me to get a higher ledge. The geometry part was frustrating, but then you get a section where there ware two bee hives spewing out bees and you have to hit the boxes above you to open the pathway. You can jump down to try to avoid the bees, but it blocks your view of the opening above  and if you try to jump back up to kill the bees you’re guaranteed to get hit and die. I tried numerous strategies and ultimately it was just an issue of not throwing the hammer the right angle so it hits everything. Later the bees turn into a moving walkway as you have to jump off of them to go left and right and up to reach higher places. After making it through this very difficult level the demo ends. Despite what you may think, I had fun with the game. The difficulty spiked up pretty quickly, but if you have a mouse and keyboard and play on Steam that puzzles where you have to bounce your hammer off the walls may be a little easier. I wonder if can switch it up and disconnect your controller when you get to those parts so you can use your keyboard and then plug it back in to continue your game. I really like the visuals and the game itself ran very smoothly. The puzzles were frustrating, but fun. I didn’t want to give up on them, because there were unlimited lives. I feel that adds to the ability to spend so much time in one area, not having to worry about eating all your lives and starting the whole level over. There should be a degree of difficulty and this game meets it, but I would start off with the easy difficulty until you get really good with throwing your hammer or else you may get stuck like me in a section for almost an hour. I’m not sure what the price is going to be, but if you play the demo and really like it then it really shouldn’t matter. Get it on Steam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIyRCrwnjGI Read the full article

9 DAYS WITH ODIN SERIES: Desired One
April 3
Though Odin always returns to Frigg, he is often involved with female figures in his wanderings. In books about Norse mythology, descriptions of Odin stress his role as the ruler of Asgard and leader of the warriors who will fight at Ragnarök. (...) the lore will show that more often than any other Germanic god, Odin interacts with women. His interest is not limited to sex. He is even more likely to go to them in search of wisdom. He connects with humans, goddesses, and giant-kin, and he is the primary god for many Heathen women today. (Paxson, 2017)
Okay. This is my favorite chapter so far. I loved everything I’ve learned today about the women Odin had/have a relationship with. I didn’t know much about the origin of Frigg or her own aspects or handmaidens, as Snorri associates her with. The Women of Wisdom section was also very interesting to read.
Now, Godspouse? Really? I’ve never heard of such thing and I am loving it! It is a whole new world I am discovering and it feels great. I am not saying I will marry a god, but that sounds fascinating, don’t you think? I wonder how it feels like to have this commitment with such powerful being...
About the meditation section I thought of all the things I want (lots of things) but when I was meditating I focused on what want the most right now, which are a family of my own, a husband and children, and a doctorate in art history. I was a bit scared of returning the gift, how/what I am going to give in exchange. I didn’t know what I should offer, everything sounds so little... or so big. So I decided to ask what Odin would like to receive, if he helps me with those things I’ve mentioned earlier. But no one said anything. I just felt like something was happening. I can’t explain. It was what it was, I guess.
I will end this post with some questions, cause I am very curious, so feel free to answer.
- Do you believe in this godspouse thing?
- Would you like to have one?
