Whoever decided to let Jennifer Lawrence hold the laudatory speech for Lily Gladstone, I feel so fucking seen by them. Because for me it was just a perfect moment.
Jennifer Lawrence, who had her first Lead Actress Academy Award nomination for Winter's Bone, a heart-wrenching beast of a movie driven almost entirely on Lawrence's stellar performance. Jennifer Lawrence, who did not receive this award back then, although I so very direly hoped she would. Jennifer Lawrence, who got her Academy Award just two years later.
She speaks to Lily Gladstone, whose performance is the key to make Killers of the Flower Moon an important movie. Lily Gladstone, whose performance wrenched my heart almost as much as Lawrence's once did. Lily Gladstone, whom I so very direly hoped to win this year's Lead Actress Academy Award.
My wife and I have a tradition of watching a recording of the Academy Awards during breakfast on the morning after (time-zone wise that's better than pretending that we're still young enough to stay up way past ass o'clock to watch it live). And today marked the first time in years that it left me fucking sobbing over my breakfast.
And I want to thank the Academy for that.
Bonus points for giving me perfect comfort after Gladstone did not win the award. Lawrence also did not, but she did so later. So there is hope. Gosh. I needed this reminder.

83rd Oscars Best Actress
5. Annette Bening as Nicole Allgood - The Kids Are All Right
She certainly knows how to play the strict parent and balances making the character tough while also injecting enough humour into the role so the character doesn't become too annoying to watch. She's good at playing up the awkwardness of the family and showcasing how the characters sort of the odd one out within her own family. You can really see her struggles and how hard she's trying to see things from her families perspective in order to find a way to fit in. I think the chemistry between her and Moore is just right like being able to show how they clearly love each other while also showing how the relationship is clearly under strain. I don't think the role is very showy which obviously isn't her fault but there's just something there thats lacking for me.
4. Jennifer Lawrence as Ree Dolly - Winter's Bone
It was so fun getting to watch young JLaw act and I was really impressed by her dramatic work in this it felt so genuine and real. You can see that she's young and afraid but also her need to survive and protect her family overshadows those signs of fears where you almost forget that the characters just 17. But then you get to the scene with the army requiter or when she's holding her dead fathers hand and then you remember that no this is just a child and she shouldn't be having to go through all this. Great accent work as well feels very natural and never forced at all.
3. Michelle Williams as Cindy Heller - Blue Valentine
Very real performance and raw almost too real it felt like I was watching a reel of someones actual life. Her and Gosling work very well together and really distinguish the past of their characters so it contrasts with the present. Like two people so in love and in the very next scene the complete opposite and this roles clearly very challenging as it's only the two of them on screen for the majority of the film so if she's even slightly off her game then us the audience will be able to notice it. I think this is a really beautiful performance and a lot of moments from it will stay with me for a longtime, she's just very earnest. But once again it felt too real like yes the acting should be convincing but also it's a film and I guess in a way the film lets her down a bit.
2. Natalie Portman as Nina Sayers - Black Swan
Watching her fast descent into insanity was so entertaining to watch and the performance definitely lived up to the hype that I had set for it. The camera truly loves her and there's so many shots of her where the expression on her face is perfect. Her and Hershey are just magnificent in every scene they share together. Just seeing the shift from the white swan and watching her slowly embrace becoming the black swan and then those dance performances towards the end... She truly was perfect!
Nicole Kidman as Becca Corbett - Rabbit Hole
Just a very beautiful and devastating performance of a woman trying to find her way back to normalcy after a tragic loss. She manages her characters different moods perfectly as Becca goes from being insensitive to very tender and then from being invasive to very reserved and shut off. Very similar to Williams performance in terms of being natural and real but I think Kidman amps it up a bit and gives a performance that yes is natural but also entertaining enough for a film. Her chemistry with everyone on the cast is just great especially whenever she's on screen with Wiest or Teller. I think she takes a role that could've potentially been a little boring to watch and really makes something truly magical out of it.
Conclusion
I think the main link between most of the nominees is women fighting to try and keep their family together in order to survive and trying their hardest to keep themselves together also. Portman isn't really in that link since her movies about something completely different but the other four seem to match pretty well.

'The King's Speech' - Best Picture Winner at the 83rd Academy Awards
Many will probably look at “The King’s Speech” as one of those snobby British art movies, but this of course will say so much more about its so-called critics than anything else. The story of a man who, it is said, “bloody well stammers” and works to overcome this affliction which keeps him from completing sentences let alone a whole speech sounds more like one of those formula movies where we…

Summertime
Written By: Mikey Way, Ray Toro, Gerard Way & Frank Iero
Artist: My Chemical Romance
Released: 2010
“Summertime” is a ‘new wave’ song, allegedly believed to be written about frontman Gerard Way’s wife, Lyn-z Way. In an interview, Gerard said that it started as a riff Mikey had written, before evolving into a song they ‘couldn’t have the record without.’ “[“Summertime”] is one of the lyrically personal songs on the album, whereas the rest of it is just me talking about my worldview. So it’s a really beautiful song and again—no rules. We can have a soft song.”
[Verse 1] When the lights go out Will you take me with you And carry all this broken bone Through six years down In crowded rooms and highways I call home? Is something I can't know till now Till you picked me off the ground With brick in hand, your lip-gloss smile Your scraped-up knees and [Chorus] If you stay, I would even wait all night Or until my heart explodes, how long until we Find our way in the dark and out of harm? You can run away with me anytime you want [Verse 2] Terrified of what I'd be As a kid, from what I've seen Every single day when people try And put the pieces back together Just to smash them down Turn my headphones up real loud I don't think I need them now 'Cause you stop the noise and [Chorus] If you stay, I would even wait all night Or until my heart explodes, how long until we Find our way in the dark and out of harm? You can run away with me anytime you want [Post-Chorus] Well, anytime you want Well, anytime you want [Guitar Solo] [Bridge] Don't walk away, don't walk away Don't walk away, don't walk away! [Chorus] 'Cause if you stay, I would even wait all night Or until my heart explodes, how long until we Find our way in the dark and out of harm? You can run away with me [Post-Chorus] Or you can write it on your arm You can run away with me Anytime you want

I See the Light
Written By: Glenn Slater & Alan Menken
Artist: Mandy Moore & Zachary Levi for Tangled
Released: 2010
“I See the Light” is a romantic duet in Tangled between Rapunzel and Eugene. It is sung when Rapunzel is finally achieving her lifelong dream to see the floating lanterns. The song was nominated for best song at the 83rd academy awards but lost to “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3. “I See The Light” was originally called “You Are My Forever,” and was a reprise of a song Mother Gothel sung to Rapunzel, before being removed. After “You Are My Forever” was removed, the song was still different from what it was in the finished film. It was an anthem-like song at first but Alan Menken decided it should be more gentle.
[RAPUNZEL] All those days watching from the windows All those years outside looking in All that time never even knowing Just how blind I've been Now I'm here blinking in the starlight Now I'm here suddenly I see Standing here it's all so clear I'm where I'm meant to be And at last I see the light And it's like the fog has lifted And at last I see the light And it's like the sky is new And it's warm and real and bright And the world has somehow shifted All at once everything looks different Now that I see you [FLYNN] All those days chasing down a daydream All those years living in a blur All that time never truly seeing Things, the way they were Now she's here shining in the starlight Now she's here suddenly I know If she's here it's crystal clear I'm where I'm meant to go [FLYNN & RAPUNZEL] And at last I see the light [FLYNN] And it's like the fog has lifted [FLYNN & RAPUNZEL] And at last I see the light [RAPUNZEL] And it's like the sky is new [FLYNN & RAPUNZEL] And it's warm and real and bright And the world has somehow shifted All at once everything is different Now that I see you Now that I see you

Analysing The Lost and Found Best Animated Short Film at the 83rd Academy Awards.
youtube
His animation is about a little boy who tells a story about his past. He goes to a place that looks like a beach and finds something that no one has ever seen before, and the boy spends a pleasant afternoon with him. But no one knows where the object came from or where it belongs. The boy takes him to ask his friend, who doesn't know either and finally has to take him home and hide him in a shed. In the evening, the boy watches TV and sees an advert for lost and found objects and decides to take him there tomorrow. Filling in the form, the cleaning lady hands him a small slip of road sign, and the boy takes him to the road sign address, opens the door, and sees a colourful world full of strange things he didn't know existed. Saw them playing together. Finally, the little boy waved goodbye to him.
Returning to the expression The story begins in the first person and uses an inscriptional account of the theme of speech. It remembers all that has been lost before and shows the importance of the past and present. The film has no voice other than the first-person verbal narration and is more of an internal monologue and self-reflection.
By using animal figures or surrealistically created non-human creatures as protagonists in their works, the authors hope to look at human life from a different perspective, so that readers can get rid of their narrow anthropocentric thinking and not indulge in self-obsession.
I don't agree with this, I think the little boy and the thing are one and the same, maybe there's a time the little boy missed or some emotion he's trying to find, and together they react to the longing for his heart. Beautiful things, together they awaken the dreams we leave behind. Instead of comparing the two main characters. In contrast, I think the reaction is to compare two completely different worlds, the industrial world the boy lives in and the dream world he lives in.
This animation takes full advantage of the fact that surrealists rebel against all oppressive values and oppressiveness. The goal of surrealism is to reduce and eventually resolve the conflict with action, the conscious and the unconscious. By helping him find where he belongs, the young boy also seems to awaken his own unique ideas. In the end, two answers are given, either that thing has disappeared or we no longer care. It also boils down to the question of whether we have been assimilated into the world. What is the other voice within you being oppressed because of?

Love Story
Written By: Taylor Swift
Artist: Taylor Swift
Released: 2008 (re-recorded 2021)
Alternate version included: 1989 World Tour pop version, 2015
Taylor was inspired to write “Love Story” when she was going through a difficult situation with a boy she liked, whom she wasn’t “officially” dating. She chose to portray the story of Romeo and Juliet in the song, because she felt like she could relate. The lyrics talk about disapproval against the relationship, and her desire to go somewhere far away with him, and escape the people who look down on them. “Love Story” peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, and at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, just weeks after its release. The song’s music video was described as timeless, by Swift. The video won the CMT Music Awards for “Video of the Year,” as well as “Female Video of the Year.” In February 2021, “Love Story” became the first official re-release from Taylor’s back catalog following contractual disputes with Scooter Braun. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career as she sought autonomy and freedom from what she perceived as a manipulative business relationship.
[Verse 1] We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes and the flashback starts I'm standing there On a balcony in summer air See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns See you make your way through the crowd And say, "Hello" Little did I know [Pre-Chorus] That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" And I was crying on the staircase Begging you, "Please don't go," and I said [Chorus] Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" [Verse 2] So I sneak out to the garden to see you We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew So close your eyes Escape this town for a little while, oh, oh [Pre-Chorus] 'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" But you were everything to me I was begging you, "Please don't go," and I said [Chorus] Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel This love is difficult, but it's real Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" [Post-Chorus] Oh, oh [Bridge] And I got tired of waiting Wondering if you were ever coming around My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town [Chorus] And I said, "Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you, but you never come Is this in my head? I don't know what to think" He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said "Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes'" [Outro] Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh 'Cause we were both young when I first saw you
