27: “doppelgänger” by lissom, julien marchal and lowswimmer. i see this as one of the general svsss songs from binghe’s pov, especially during shizun’s death. the existentialism of it, however, is a perfect fit for original outline binghe musings, and i use it as such with concerning frequency.

28: “wonderful nothing” by glass animals. one of the most liujiu from shen jiu’s pov (which: yum) songs i have in here, if looked at from the right angle. which i always am. i’m always correct, as has been established 🙂‍↕️ no but really. cunty ass song for the cuntiest character. again: liujiu. yum.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

I have to be honest...I was bored by this book.

I went into this knowing that some people REALLY love it and some REALLY dislike it. I had hoped that I might enjoy it a bit more but it just felt like reading a bunch of biographies about people who were very self-centered and a bit cold.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a novel about essentially a friendship fraught with toxicity. We meet Sadie and Sam initially in their early college years and from there are told about their meeting as children. Sam has a terrible foot injury from an accident he had as a child and goes through years of pain and attempts to accept his disability. Sadie meets Sam when he's in the hospital as a child right as he's having multiple surgeries on his foot and they find common ground in video games. Sadie ultimately ends up becoming a programmer and deals with the pressures of being a woman in the gaming industry. Sam and Sadie go on to make games together along with Sam's roommate, Marx, and also have a very strenuous friendship with each other the whole time.

This book is filled with lot of hard to comprehend language unless you have a dictionary or the internet handy. It almost feels unapproachable and so do the characters, with the exception of Marx. Perhaps that was the point, though? I’m not sure. I just know that I felt put off by nearly every conversation or action that either Sadie or Sam were involved in. The plot also felt a bit disjointed to me and that's not a deal breaker but I don't know that it really added anything to the story itself. And frankly the ending was rather unsatisfying.

There were a few things I did like about this book, though. I did liked the game references throughout the book. I liked the way the author described the developed games that Sam and Sadie develop because it's interesting to find out what a fictional game creator might make. There were points where I did find the differences portrayed between Sadie and Sam as they grow up and together to be interesting, though these moments were often dismissed as soon as some other dramatic argument occurred because of the absurd amount of miscommunication within their conversations.

Mostly I just felt very sad for these characters who could have solved a lot of their problems by actually just talking to each other instead of hiding their issues. Not my favorite read this year and I'm not sure I can recommend it but my opinion is only one opinion. Reading is subjective after all.

no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD

Comparing the privilege of marginalized men vs similarly marginalized women doesn't work the same for trans people as it does for cis people. The claim that trans men and trans women both suffer from transphobia, but only trans women suffer from transphobia and misogyny, would be false. Similarly, it would be false to claim that only trans men suffer from both transphobia and misogyny, while trans women suffer from transphobia but not misogyny.

Trans men suffer from transphobia and misogyny, and trans women suffer from transphobia and misogyny, and neither group of trans people has the relative privilege of not being systemic targets of misogyny.

the rest of the party, standing or crouching on the side of the path, turn to look at him.

"hm? have you?" ichiban tilts his head, hand on chin, and lets saeko pick from his chip bag. "i dunno, lemme think..."

adachi leaps to his feet, splashing his can of beer and surprising saeko. "got it!"

adachi snaps his fingers with a triumphant smile. "you changed how you part your hair!"

"huh?" nanba reaches toward the back of his own head. "nope, it's still the same..." adachi sheds a single tear.

hand raised high, saeko announces "right! your prescription changed!" ichiban taps a canned coffee on his palm in an "i get it!" motion. "what, are you trying to be funny now!? and that's wrong, too!" nanba retorts.

"okay!" han looks serious. "you changed the frames on your glasses!"

"you started wearing contacts instead of glasses!" zhao finger-guns with a grin.

"will you quit it with the glasses thing!?" nanba snaps at an unfazed, juicebox-sipping han. "and does it look like i'm wearing contacts!?" he gestures at himself. zhao smugly bites an onigiri, still squatting on the ground.

adachi frowns around a pocky. "huh? then what's changed?"

"never mind... sheesh." nanba turns his back on the group.

a view of the vending machine and soccer field across the way. "i just thought maybe i'd grown a bit cheerier since i met you guys."

"that's all." nanba doesn't see the party staring in shocked silence.

saeko, han, and zhao exchange fond looks.

nanba chugs his tea as ichiban approaches.

ichiban bumps his drink hand against nanba's.

"well, we already knew that, man." ichiban grins so wide his eyes shut.

"yeah, you smile a lot more than you did before, nan-chan." saeko concurs, offering him her chip bag.

nanba looks up, eyes wide. "ichiban... you guys..."

a hand lands on nanba's shoulder.

arm slung over his friend's back, ichiban cheerfully assures "and i noticed that you got some new lenses on your glasses, too." nanba's face falls.

the party loses it. saeko collapses on adachi, both doubled over in laughter, zhao cackles as his glasses fall off, and han clutches his head in despair.

"i didn't change anything about my glasses!" nanba roars. on the ground, a plastic bag of leftover snacks reads "#56 nanba's transformation".

Hi it's just to let you know that the official romanization of Revaan's name is Raverne ! Also they have romanized Baul's name to Baur !

I do like Raverne though, I think it's got a nice fancy sound to it! (I had kinda suspected it was going to be an R instead of an L, so the fact that it's SO close to Laverne except for that is hilarious to me personally.) and Dragoneye Duke is honestly probably the best translation for his title, I wasn't envying the localizers that one. :') Baur instead of Baul I was NOT expecting, but in retrospect I think his name's supposed to be a reference to the Bauru crocodile, so that actually makes way more sense!

someone else also said Meleanor has become Maleanor, which is the REALLY weird one to me, because I was so surprised it was written as Mel instead of Mal in the first place?! oh god no I can't decide which one I like better. 😭 (I wonder if they might change it to Mal...they have made romanization changes before) (like I remember House of Distraction being corrected to House of Destruction in Playful Land) (I did check and she's still Mel for now, but I dunno, they might Mal her up and some point and save me from having to make a decision about which one to use) (HECK I CAN'T DECIDE)
