... "MYSTERY TWINS" - 6.6.2020, late teenage Dipper and Mabel, back in the little forested, bizarre, alluring, Gravity Falls. Ford and Stan are doing very, very well. They are aging well, and very happy. They made up for their lost time... it's like they were never apart, finally. The twins, both sets, are thriving. Mabel has a thriving Etsy business, and Dipper has applied for 6 colleges, got accepted into four, and sought out by two. He has his own Journals in development. They both moved out as soon as they could, and share their own space in Gravity Falls, downtown, not far from their grunkles newly built shack at the waterfront. They go sailing all together. Soos is still the same, and Stan couldn't be prouder. The shack is still standing, and it's like they never left. Wendy is getting hitched in the fall, she never saw that in her future. Dipper was guaranteed to be her best man. Pacifica has been dating Dipper for a couple years, now. It's getting serious... both of them feel that, but neither of them have said it, yet. Bill is still out there, waiting for--

* I love everyone’s fun posts about the Mechanisms in the eyepocalpse BUT

The Mechs just don’t fear death... it doesn’t mean they don’t have any fears at all. They yeeted themselves out of the Yggdrasil system before Yog-Sothoth came through. Therefore, I’d like to propose that 

a) the Entities of the Magnus Archives universe would be likely to have a strong negative effect on the Mechs b) this could be fuel for some wonderful loving angst:

LONELY: Aurora, Nastya, Toy Soldier

Personally I think all the mechanisms are good choices for the Lonely but I am also a mechs found family truther. Obviously I think tragically and romantically the Aurora and Nastya should be in the Lonely and have the chance to save each other with the power of love. Toy Soldier stops pretending to be alive because it’s lonely- it would not think it Jolly Good Fun to be stuck in the Lonely.

WEB: Jonny D’Ville. Yes, obviously he makes a great avatar for the Slaughter (they all are), but Jonny specifically has something against other people’s authority and being in control of his own choices. We haven’t seen the web’s hell yet but a place where you look at all the consequences of your actions and think about why you did them- was it you that made that choice- the spiders web of memory. Jonny is drunk a lot of the time in canon- sober memory review sure would be a thing.

DESOLATION: Ashes O’Reilly. Both loves fire, and lost everything (before the Mechanisms) to fire. I can’t think of anything that would hurt them more, though I will admit that they could theoretically have processed this trauma a long time ago (but with Marius as the closest thing to a psychologist who’s to say)

SPIRAL: Drumbot Brian. When you have two modes, the shifting insanity of the Spiral where the number two doesn’t even exist and down is up and up is across would be hard enough for any machine to process. Brian was hard, because getting stuck in a sun for over a century was probably not fun, but also not really something to be scared of. Also Ivy? Once again, Ivy is hard. But not recognising people that claim to know you, not being able to understand the world that you once researched all the time, not knowing who you are... (maybe I just took Archive Footage too seriously)

DARK: Gunpowder Tim. Not to be fake deep, but something you can’t see through, that the technology that makes you immortal can’t see through, so for the first time since blowing up the moon you’ve got to sit by yourself in eternal darkness not knowing where you or your crew are? Gross.

CORRUPTION: Raphaella La Cognizi. Raphaella is a mystery to me, but this does just vibe with me. Maybe I just think all beautiful people worry about rotting from the inside due to impurities they can’t control and can’t rid themselves of. I cannot explain further, but I just like it. 

FLESH/HUNT: Marius Von Raum. Look all I know of Marius’ canon death is that he gets eaten and that sounds both traumatic and funny as hell and I’m sure it would be a gross way to spend an apocalypse.

[6.6.2020] still trying to keep up with studying Korean each day, feeling much more confident with hangul and the repetition is kicking in and I feel like it’s finally starting to stick! vowels are pretty much down so it’s on to consonants, dipthongs are still giving me a bit of trouble but overall I'd say my alphabet learning is going well!

ALRIGHT WHEW! This took a while! Hopefully all those links go to the right places.

I’m not seeing a solid pattern in any of these. They’re all from such different genres and tones that it would be hard to connect any of them in a meaningful way, but maybe I’m wrong! If anyone else sees a pattern in these, please tell me about it!

As for a favorite, that’s a very hard question. I’m a big fan of In a Week’s opening line, if only because it sets up a mystery that the reader has to solve by reading the rest of the story. Hook, line, and sinker, baby! I’d love to know everyone else’s favorites, if you have one!
