Top 10 Tips for Solo Motorcycle Travel
Embarking on a solo motorcycle travel adventure can be one of the most exhilarating experiences a rider can have. The freedom, the open road, and the thrill of exploring new places on two wheels are unmatched. However, solo motorcycle travel comes with its own set of challenges and considerations. Here are the top 10 tips to ensure your solo motorcycle travel is safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable.
1. Plan Your Route Thoroughly
When it comes to solo motorcycle travel, thorough planning is essential. While spontaneous rides are exciting, having a planned route ensures you stay on track and avoid potentially dangerous areas. Use maps, GPS, and travel apps to chart your course. Include regular rest stops and fuel stations. Research the best roads for motorcycles and try to incorporate scenic routes to make your journey even more enjoyable.
2. Pack Light and Smart
Packing for solo motorcycle travel requires a balance between bringing essentials and keeping your load light. Opt for multi-purpose items and pack clothes that can be layered. Use saddle bags or a well-secured backpack. Essential items include a first aid kit, tool kit, extra bungee cords, and weather-appropriate gear. Remember, the less you carry, the more comfortable and agile your ride will be.
3. Ensure Your Motorcycle is in Top Condition
Before setting off on your solo motorcycle travel, ensure your bike is in peak condition. Check tire pressure, oil levels, brakes, and lights. It's advisable to have your motorcycle serviced before a long trip. Carry spare parts like a tire repair kit, fuses, and bulbs. A well-maintained motorcycle reduces the risk of breakdowns and ensures a smoother travel experience.
4. Invest in Quality Riding Gear
Safety is paramount in solo motorcycle travel. Invest in high-quality riding gear, including a helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and boots. Choose gear that is weather-appropriate and offers maximum protection. High-visibility clothing can help make you more noticeable to other road users, enhancing your safety on the road.
5. Stay Connected
Even though solo motorcycle travel is about enjoying solitude, staying connected is crucial. Inform a friend or family member of your route and expected arrival times. Carry a mobile phone with a power bank and consider investing in a GPS tracker. Regularly check-in with someone to let them know you're safe. In remote areas, having a satellite phone can be a lifesaver.
6. Stay Hydrated and Nourished
Long hours of riding can be exhausting, making hydration and nutrition critical. Carry a water bottle and snacks that are easy to consume on the go. Nuts, energy bars, and dried fruits are excellent options. Take regular breaks to rest, hydrate, and eat. Staying hydrated and well-nourished will keep your energy levels up and improve your concentration on the road.
7. Be Prepared for Weather Changes
Weather can be unpredictable, especially during long-distance solo motorcycle travel. Equip yourself with waterproof gear and always check the weather forecast before hitting the road. Be prepared to make adjustments to your route or stop for the night if conditions become too hazardous. Riding in adverse weather can be dangerous, so it's better to wait out a storm than to push through it.
8. Learn Basic Motorcycle Repair Skills
Knowing how to perform basic repairs can save you from being stranded during your solo motorcycle travel. Learn how to fix a flat tire, replace fuses, and perform minor adjustments. Carry a compact tool kit that includes essential tools for your bike. YouTube tutorials and motorcycle repair workshops can be valuable resources for gaining these skills.
9. Stay Aware and Vigilant
Solo motorcycle travel requires heightened awareness and vigilance. Always be mindful of your surroundings, especially in unfamiliar areas. Avoid riding at night in unknown territories, and stick to well-lit, populated areas when possible. Trust your instincts; if a place feels unsafe, leave immediately. Your safety should always be your top priority.
10. Enjoy the Journey
The essence of solo motorcycle travel is to enjoy the journey. Take time to explore new places, meet locals, and immerse yourself in the cultures you encounter. Stop at scenic spots, take photos, and create memories. Solo motorcycle travel is not just about reaching your destination; it's about the adventures and experiences along the way.

The Ultimate Guide to Finding the Perfect Refurbished Phone Online in India
Finding the perfect refurbished phone online can be likened to treasure hunting. In the vast ocean of the internet, amidst the countless choices and options, there lies that one gem that's perfect for you. In India, where tech-savviness meets a love for value, refurbished phones have carved a niche of their own. So, grab a seat, maybe a cup of chai, and let’s dive into the ultimate guide that will lead you to your next phone treasure, shall we?
Introduction
Remember the excitement of getting a new phone? The unboxing, the first setup, the smooth operation. Now, imagine getting almost the same thrill but at a significantly lower price. That's what buying a refurbished phone is all about. It’s about making smart choices, both for your wallet and the environment. But hey, I know what you’re thinking. "Refurbished" often gets mixed up with "used and abused." Let me guide you through the fog of misconceptions and show you how to find a refurbished phone that doesn’t just meet your expectations but exceeds them.
Why Opt for a Refurbished Phone?
Refurbished phones, contrary to popular belief, are not merely used phones. They are devices that have been returned to the manufacturer or seller for various reasons, checked, repaired if necessary, and restored to their original glory.
Cost-Efficient: Who doesn't like saving money? With refurbished phones, you can access high-end models at a fraction of their original price.
Eco-Friendly: By choosing refurbished, you’re giving a phone a second life, reducing e-waste, and contributing to a greener planet.
Quality Assurance: Reputable sellers put refurbished phones through rigorous testing, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Where to Find Refurbished Phones Online in India
Navigating the online marketplace for refurbished phones in India is like finding your way through a bazaar. It's vibrant, diverse, and full of opportunities if you know where to look.
Official Brand Stores: Many major smartphone brands have started selling refurbished models directly through their websites. This is usually the safest bet.
Certified Refurbished Platforms: Websites like 2GUD by Flipkart, Amazon Renewed, and Cashify specialize in selling refurbished gadgets and offer warranties and easy return policies.
Online Retailers: Some trusted online retailers also offer refurbished phones, often with good deals and warranties.
Tips for Making a Wise Refurbished Phone Purchase
Understand the Grading System
Refurbished phones come with grades that denote their condition. Here's a quick breakdown:
Grade A: Like new or very lightly used.
Grade B: May have slight cosmetic blemishes but nothing major.
Grade C: Noticeable wear and tear but fully functional.
Check the Warranty and Return Policy
Always look for a refurbished phone that comes with a warranty. A 6-12 month warranty offers peace of mind. Also, a friendly return policy ensures you’re not stuck with a device that doesn’t meet your expectations.
Inspect the Battery Life
Battery life is crucial. While you might not always get detailed info online, some sellers do offer a battery health guarantee. If it’s not mentioned, don’t hesitate to ask.
Verify Seller Reputation
Read reviews, ask questions, and ensure you’re buying from a reputable source. Good customer service and transparent processes are green flags.
Personal Anecdote
I remember snagging my first refurbished smartphone online. It was a flagship model from a year ago, and honestly, I was a bit skeptical. But when it arrived, I couldn't tell it apart from a brand new one. It worked flawlessly, and guess what? I saved enough money to buy those wireless earbuds I’d been eyeing. That's when I realized the true value of going refurbished.
Conclusion
Choosing the perfect refurbished phone online is an art and a bit of an adventure. It's about balance, understanding, and a touch of bravery to step out of the brand-new-only mindset. With this guide in your arsenal, I hope you feel more equipped to navigate the refurbished phone market in India. So, why wait? Your perfect refurbished phone might just be a few clicks away. Happy phone hunting!
Remember, buying a refurbished phone is not just a smart choice for your wallet; it's a statement that you care for the environment. Let’s make sustainable choices, one phone at a time.

Landlord Life Hacks: 10 Time-Saving Tips for Solo Property Owners
Juggling responsibilities can be a balancing act for any solo landlord. Between finding tenants, handling maintenance, and navigating paperwork, the days can seem impossibly short. But fear not, fellow independent property gurus! Here are 10 time-saving life hacks to help you reclaim your hours and conquer your landlord to-do list:
1. Automate the Mundane:
Rent collection, late fees, and payment reminders can eat up precious time. Embrace online rent payment platforms and automated systems to handle these tasks seamlessly. You'll free up your schedule and ensure timely payments.
2. Master the Mobile Marvel:
Invest in a property management app that lets you handle key tasks on the go. Schedule appointments, communicate with tenants, track expenses, and even remotely adjust thermostats – all from your smartphone.
3. Embrace Online Tools:
Forget endless phone calls and paper trails. Utilize online platforms for tenant screening, lease agreements, and maintenance requests. Streamlining communication and paperwork saves you time and keeps everything organized.
4. Batch Your Tasks:
Instead of bouncing between different tasks all day, group similar activities together. Dedicate certain days to emails, maintenance calls, or property visits. This focused approach keeps you efficient and minimizes context switching.
5. Delegate When Possible:
Don't try to be a superhero (unless you wear a cape and own rental apartments, in which case, mad respect!). Outsource tasks like minor repairs, bookkeeping, or legal consultations. It may cost a bit, but the time saved is invaluable.
6. Template Your Communication:
Create draft templates for common emails, notices, and lease agreements. This eliminates repetitive typing and ensures consistent messaging for your tenants. You can easily customize them for each situation.
7. Schedule Maintenance Windows:
Instead of being on call 24/7 for repairs, designate regular maintenance windows where tenants can schedule non-urgent issues. This allows you to plan your week efficiently and avoid after-hours emergencies.
8. Leverage Tenant Portals:
Offer a tenant portal where residents can submit maintenance requests, track payments, and download important documents. This empowers them to be self-sufficient and reduces your workload.
9. Proactive Maintenance is Key:
Preventing small issues from becoming big problems saves you time and money in the long run. Implement regular inspections and schedule preventive maintenance tasks to keep your properties in top condition.
10. Remember, You're Human:
Burnout is real, even for super landlords. Set healthy boundaries, schedule breaks, and don't be afraid to ask for help. A rested and energized you is a more efficient and effective landlord.
By implementing these tips, you can reclaim your time, stay organized, and become a master of solo property management. Remember, efficiency is your friend, technology your ally, and a healthy work-life balance your ultimate reward. Now go forth and conquer, rent-collecting champion!
Bonus Tip: Consider investing in a virtual assistant or property management assistant to handle administrative tasks and lighten your load.

Plumbing Perfection: The Art of Maintaining Clean Drains
Tumblr media
Drains play a vital role in our homes, yet they often go unnoticed until a problem arises. They efficiently carry away waste and excess water, ensuring that our homes remain clean and dry. However, like any other part of a home, drains require regular maintenance to function effectively. The art of maintaining clean drains is not just about preventing clogs but also about prolonging the life of your plumbing system and ensuring a healthy living environment.
Why Clean Drains Matter
1. Prevent Blockages: Regular maintenance prevents minor issues from turning into major blockages. Over time, dirt, hair, food particles, and other debris accumulate in drains, leading to clogs. A clogged drain can lead to slow water drainage, flooding, and even sewage backup.
2. Save Money: Addressing minor issues early on can save you money in the long run. Ignoring a slow-draining sink today could lead to expensive repairs or replacements in the future.
3. Healthier Home: Dirty drains can become breeding grounds for bacteria and mold. Clean drains ensure that harmful pathogens don't multiply and spread throughout your home.
Essential Tips for Clean Drains
1. Use Strainers
Place strainers over your drains, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, to prevent large particles and debris from entering. Strainers can capture food particles, hair, and other objects, which can be easily removed and thrown away.
2. Run Hot Water
After using your sink or shower, run hot water down the drain for a few minutes. This can help push down any oils or residues that might be lingering on the sides of the pipes.
3. Natural Cleaners
Instead of reaching for chemical drain cleaners, which can be harmful to the environment and may damage your pipes, consider natural alternatives. A mixture of baking soda followed by vinegar can create a fizzing action that can help dislodge minor blockages. Follow this with hot water to wash away the debris.
4. Avoid Dumping Grease
Grease is a major culprit behind clogged drains. Rather than pouring it down the sink, store it in a container and dispose of it in the trash once it solidifies.
5. Clean Drain Stoppers
Regularly clean out your drain stoppers. They can collect hair and soap scum, especially in the bathroom. Simply remove, clean, and replace them every few weeks.
6. Schedule Professional Cleanings
Even with diligent home care, it's essential to have your drains professionally cleaned periodically. Professionals have the tools and knowledge to address deeper issues and ensure your drains remain in top condition.
Warning Signs: When to Call a Professional
Slow Draining: If water is draining slower than usual, it might be a sign of an impending clog.
Bad Odors: A persistent foul smell coming from your drain can indicate a buildup of rotting debris.
Gurgling Noises: This can suggest that air is being trapped by a blockage.
Frequent Clogs: If you're constantly battling clogs, it's time to get a professional assessment.
Remember, addressing these warning signs promptly can prevent more significant issues down the line.

How can I ensure a smooth and fast closing process for Selling My Home?
The process of selling a home can seem daunting, with many homeowners seeking efficient ways to ensure a smooth and quick closing. From choosing the right buyer to managing the necessary paperwork, many aspects require meticulous attention. Fortunately, by adopting specific strategies and collaborating with the right partners, homeowners can navigate this journey seamlessly. Below are the essential steps you should take.
Tumblr media
1. Work with a Reputable Real Estate Agent
Your first step should be to find a seasoned real estate agent. They will have the experience and network to help you navigate the process smoothly. Agents often have insights into what buyers in your area are looking for and can provide tips to make your home more appealing.
2. Price Your Home Competitively
Setting the right price from the get-go is crucial. Homes priced too high can sit on the market, while those priced too low might leave money on the table. Research the local market, and consider getting a professional appraisal to determine the best price.
3. Prepare Your Home for Sale
This means decluttering, cleaning, and perhaps even staging your home to make it more appealing. First impressions matter, so consider making minor repairs and upgrades to enhance your home's appeal.
4. Understand Your Buyer's Needs
Once you receive offers, it's essential to understand your buyer's needs. Are they looking for a quick close? Do they need financing? Understanding their priorities can help you negotiate a deal that's beneficial for both parties.
5. Collaborate with Trusted Partners
Working with trusted partners can expedite the selling process. For homeowners looking to sell your home fast, partnering with a company like Purple Mountain Holdings can be a game-changer. They offer quick, hassle-free solutions for homeowners looking to close without the traditional challenges that come with selling a home.
6. Be Ready with All Necessary Documents
Ensure that all your home-related documents are in order. This includes the deed, property tax receipts, mortgage details, and any home improvement records. Being prepared can significantly speed up the closing process.
7. Address any Contingencies Quickly
Sometimes, offers come with contingencies like home inspections or financing approval. Address these promptly to prevent any delays in the closing process.
8. Stay Flexible with Closing Dates
If you can offer flexibility on the closing date, it can be a significant advantage. Some buyers might need a quick close, while others might need a bit more time. Being accommodating can make the transaction smoother for everyone involved.
9. Use Technology to Your Advantage
In today's digital age, using online resources can expedite the home selling process. Virtual tours, digital contracts, and online communication tools can speed up many stages of the deal.
Conclusion
Ensuring a smooth and fast closing process when selling your home requires a combination of preparation, flexibility, and collaboration. By following the steps above and partnering with reputable companies like Purple Mountain Holdings, homeowners can confidently navigate the sale of their homes. Remember, the goal is to make the process as efficient as possible for both you and the buyer.

Interlude - Rewrite POYW- Harry Hook x reader - Part 7 - Plans coming together
Tumblr media Tumblr media
=
-1 year and 11 months later(January 2019)-
Ben placed his hands on his hips and smiled, looking up at the large entrance doors to the newly appointed VK shelter. Everything was finished, from the kitchens to the smallest tile in the bathrooms. it was all ready, over 100 people were hired and ready to make food, repair damages if made, counselors, therapists, caretakers. Everything Ben could think of was implemented and ready to go. The CPS still had some paperwork to be approved and worked through, so Ben was looking at late July early August for the six new vks to be in Auradon.
Which would be six-seven months from now but, at least it was only six to seven months and not the 3 years it's been since he promised and started on getting more vks off the isle, including the start of production of the shelter and CPS system.
Ben pulled out his phone and smiled, in only a few days it would also be the 3rd anniversary of the first six vks arrival, they had arrived about two weeks before his birthday and his birthday was also the third anniversary of his time as king and his 18th birthday.
January had a lot to celebrate, didn’t it?
He knew the vks were planning something for him, and they were all keeping most of the information secret so they could surprise him. The only thing he knew was that Evie rented out a place for the party, invited Ben's closest friends that weren’t the vks. (Audrey, Jane, Doug, and Lonnie. Chad was invited too but Jay and Carlos told Ben about Chad’s very sus behavior about Ben when they told him about Bens capture on the isle so Ben was slightly wary of his old friend)
Ben had planned for a party for the 3rd anniversary of the original six vks arrivals for the vks but they wanted to wait until the next group came to Auradon, wanting to celebrate with their fellow villain kids. So Ben now mentally rescheduled the party to be in August, not knowing the exact date they would be getting the vks.
“We’re getting closer!” Ben couldn’t keep the grin off his face as he turned to see Mal walking towards him, her plum-colored shoulder-length hair in a low messy bun and wearing her favorite poison green jacket and purple and black dyed jeans. “Just a couple more months and we can finally get more kids off the isle” Ben hummed and looked back at the shelter, nodding to himself and tossing his arm over Mal's shoulder and leading her back towards the car where Luis, his chauffeur, was sitting in, waiting for them to be done looking over the building.
“Yep, I’m glad (y/n) and I were able to get the council to agree to us transferring kids twice a month, so it won't be as slow a process” Mal nodded along in agreement, remembering when (y/n), Evie, and Ben had emerged from the meeting room with shit-eating grins, telling Mal and the others that they had tricked the council into agreeing with their new terms.
“Yeah, twelve kids instead of only six a month, who knows maybe by next year we’ll already have most of the isle empty, other than the people that actually deserve to be there” Mal narrowed her eyes as her mind flashed to the thought of Captain Hook and Cruella, two of the cruelest parents on the isle “not a single kid deserves to be there a second longer”
“No they do not, but we need to do this carefully, I don’t want to risk anyone dangerous getting off the isle.” Mal nodded in agreement, stepping to the side as Ben opened the car door and let Mal slide in first, stepping in after her and closing the door, buckling up and nodding at Luis to head back to the castle.
Luis nodded and drove off, Mal and Ben continuing to talk quietly in the back. “So we’ll definitely have to have security guards, though last time we didn’t really need them?” Mal nodded again in agreement, remembering when Ben and the others had gone to grab Harry's sisters, the twins, Sammy and Dizzy, it had basically gone off without a hitch, but that might have been because of Harriet's crew acting as security for them.
“Yeah, we can see how the first one goes and if we see any sign of potential danger or someone trying to get out, we’ll get some guards to follow us to and from the side, maybe on bikes so they don’t have to do the whole getting in and out of the car. But we should probably wait on guards for a bit, having so many adults from Auradon that they don’t see regularly might make them antsy, I know I would be.” Ben nodded, they didn’t want to make the vks still on the isle think they didn’t trust them, so they might have to wait on guards at least for the first few pickups.
“Yeah, good idea” Ben sighed, slouching in his seat and looking out the car window, watching the forest go by as Luis drove back towards his castle. “still kinda sucks It's going to be at least another 6 months from now until we can even pick the kids but…at least somethings happening?” Mal placed her hand on Ben's shoulder and gave a reassuring smile.
“Hey, you’re doing your best, we all know that, the vks on the isle know that. It’s not your fault that the council is preventing you from doing what you want or need to do” Ben gave Mal a watery smile and leaned into her as she wrapped her arms around him for a moment before she pulled back.
“Thank you Mal” Ben murmured, sitting back up and unbuckling his seatbelt as the car pulled up to the castle and Luis pulled open the door, Ben and Mal slipping out and making their way into the castle, continuing to talk about the plans for the isle.
“VK day huh?” Ben chuckled, remembering Doug and Evie’s suggestion to make the selection days for the new vks a whole day for them, to let the children enjoy a day just for them. “That doesn't sound bad, if Evie wants, I can buy out that old abandoned warehouse downtown and you can all do whatever you want with it to make it like the party place, so you can have your own isle place in Auradon” Mal beamed, looking up at Ben with her eyes shining.
“That actually sounds cool! Yeah! Let's do that! I can spray paint the walls n stuff and-and Jay can-“ Ben let Mal ramble on as he pulled out his phone and texted Lumiere about the new plan, who quickly texted him back that he would take care of it.
Ben put his phone away and looked to Mal again, who was still rambling about the isle and the precautions they should take.
Ben grabbed her arm and led her to the garden balcony, where the rest of their friends were waiting. “Beasty boy~!” Harry cheered, Evie holding her arms out as Mal snapped out of her rambling and skipped toward her friend, halfway crawling into Evie's lap and snuggling into her, Evie giggling as Mal did so. “Yeh finally made it, and ‘ere I thought yeh got assassinated”
“I’m sure if I was you would be the first to know and avenge me” Ben smiled, sitting next to Carlos and Jay, picking up the plate full of fruit and taking a chunk of mango off the pile. Harry hummed and shrugged.
“Depends on who assassinated yeh, if it was (y/n)” Harry gestured to you, who was curled up next to him reading a book “I wouldn’t do a damn thing” Ben nodded in understanding.
“As you should” Doug and Lonnie looked at each other at Ben's nonchalant attitude towards Harry's morbid sense of humor, then shrugged. Over the last three years, the two had gotten used to the vks humor and way of interacting with the world so it hardly bothered them nowadays, especially when Ben reacted in a way that played along with the vks.
Harry took out his phone after it vibrated in his pocket and raised his brow, then laughed “CJ forgot why it's like spring in January” Ben laughed at that, shaking his head.
“Didn’t we tell her like, three times now?” (y/n) said from her spot, peeking over Harry's shoulder to look at the text from CJ.
“Aye, but yeh know ‘er, she forgets what she deems unimportant” Harry mumbled, texting back CJ with the answer to her question.
“Isn’t ‘January is charmed by FG to be spring weather for Ben’s birthday’ an important thing?” Lonnie asked, tossing marshmallows at Doug as he attempted to catch them in his mouth.
“You would think?” Harry snorted, pressing the send button and setting his phone on the table, leaning back in his seat and hiking his feet on the table, crossing his ankles and arms with a smirk “But CJ doesn’t think so apparently.”
Ben let out a small laugh, his eyes drifting over to Carlos, who was hunched over a small metallic object, wires poking out the top and sides, sparking as he messed with the object with a metal-tipped tool. “Carlos watcha’ doing?”
“Making a thing” was all he said, sniffing as a spark shot at his nose and burned him slightly, Evie leaning over and rubbing his nose as he leaned away from the object “um-project-high tech thing” Ben smiled as Carlos pushed Evie’s hand away gently, giving her a reassuring smile as he went back to his work “I’m tryna make a portable projector that can connect to my phone, I don’t feel like getting out my laptop every time Jay or Mal want to watch a movie but are too lazy to go sit on the couch to look at the tv”
“It's always so far away!!!” Mal justified her laziness, a pout on her lips as Ben and Evie gave her a look, a teasing smile on their faces. Carlos just pressed his lips together and Mal stuck her tongue out, pulling back as Carlos leaned forward and attempted to touch her tongue with the metal-tipped tool “hey!”
“Don’t stick your tongue out at me then! You all know I always have something electric on me, be annoying get shocked” Carlos cackled, spinning the tool between his fingers then getting back to work, Dude resting his face on Carlos’ leg and whining for attention from his favorite person. Jay leaned down to see Dude and picked him up, setting the dog on his lap and feeding Dude a slice of turkey.
Dude had long lost the ability to talk, the truth potion gummy Evie had made two and a half years ago wearing off soon after cotillion, for it was never intended to last longer than a day or two. Carlos was slightly relieved when it wore off, while it was nice to talk to Dude easily, Dude talked too easily and had been prone to reveal things Carlos and Jay hadn't really wanted to be revealed.
Besides, Carlos could still speak dog so it didn’t stop any communication between the two. Though the rest of the teens were relieved to be free of Dude’s sometimes badly timed jokes and begging for butt scratches.
Ben relaxed in his seat and sighed, enjoying a quiet moment with his friends as they ate and talked, pushing down a smile as he noticed Harry messing with (y/n)s ring finger on her left hand, she continued to only pay attention with her book, letting Harry do what he wanted.
Ben sighed again and closed his eyes, pushing back his hair on its back legs, feeling the charming spring breeze gently caress his face.
Only 8 more months till the awaited day, and there was so much that was going to happen in between it all.
His and Jays birthday this month, his 3rd anniversary being king, the 3rd anniversary of the original 6 vks arrival in Auradon, the applications being finally sent out in July, the cps set to be finally finished in May, most of the vks and aks graduation from Auradon prep in June, and Harry had something planned for (y/n) that he had only told his sisters and Ben so far.
And so much had happened before! Some of the group had turned 19 within the last year and we're beginning to find career paths in the world. Mal was looking at art collages to become a full-time freelance artist, Jay was looking at a professional tourney career and was looking at Sherwood Forest University for their tourney program, Evie was already deep into the fashion world, half of Auradon already wearing her brand and was designing a whole line for the upcoming spring, and Carlos already had an internship ready to go at Stark industries.
Harry was being scouted for multiple modeling jobs thanks to Evie hiring him as her model for almost three years now, (y/n) had a solid ‘at home’ job as a freelance digital artist, Lonnie was planning a temporary professional R.O.A.R career then joining the Chinese military to be at her mother's side as a general like her parents.
Doug was Evie's financer and personal assistant; Jane would be trained to become the next Fairy godmother so FG could retire. Audrey; he didn’t know exactly what she was doing but Ben heard from Chad that she was thinking of publishing her stories she had been writing for years now, Chad wasn’t planning for much, probably just going to live off his parent's money and live his life as a lavish prince (which no shame to Chad, Ben sometimes wished he could just chill with no worries about the world)
But all that wasn’t exactly something Ben had to worry about for a bit, right now he had nothing to do other than relax with his friends. He smiled as he heard Jane and Gil walk onto the garden balcony, the two separating as Gil sat next to Carlos and Jane next to (y/n). The two were temporarily broken up as Gil was now a legal adult at 18 (he was turning 19 in March) and Jane two years younger than him at 16. While no one, including Jane’s mother, had a problem with their relationship, the two decided to take a break until Jane was 18, if only because the two didn’t want any dirty looks from the old-fashioned Auradon folks.
Ben closed his eyes again and rested against his chair, ignoring Harry as the pirate began to balance oreos on Ben's exposed forehead, Mal snickering and helping Harry in his quest.
-one week later-
Ben stepped out of his car and walked into the jewelry shop, smiling as he saw Harry, CJ, and Harriet in the corner of the shop, Harry messing with his black-banded ruby ring with his fingers as he talked to the shop worker. “And her ring size?” the shop worker asked, holding out his hand as Harry handed him the ring.
“um-(ring size)” Harry offered, leaning on the counter and peeking over his shoulder as Ben stepped next to him and put his hand on Harry's shoulder. “Hey beasty”
“Hello, Harry” Ben hummed, a bright smile on his face as the shop owner looked over the ring and its band “getting it resized?”
“Aye, I've let (y/n) wear it before but it didn’t fit any of her fingers other than ‘er thumb, so” he gestured to the shop worker who started to sketch out the band design so he could copy it into the newly sized metal once made. Ben nodded and peered over Harry's shoulder to see CJ busying herself looking over the rings in the display box, Harriet's hand on her arm to prevent any thievery.
“Why bring them?” Harry looked at him through the corner of his eye.
“Harriet demanded ta come cuz it's our ma’s ring, an’ CJ threatened ta tell (y/n) about it if I didn’t bring ‘er” Ben winced, CJ did want Harry to marry (y/n) so ‘she could finally get a cool sister’ (which always resulted in a slap to the head from Harriet) but she was a brat and held the threat of telling (y/n) about Harry's plan over Harry's head to get what she wanted.
Harry turned back to the shop worker as he called Harry's attention, informing him of the time, price, and pick-up date of the ring resizing. Harry nodded and handed the shop worker his debit card, leaning on the counter as the shop worker walked off to go complete the transaction.
“Plus I wanted some family support” Harry muttered, a shy smile on his lips. Ben laughed softly and patted Harry’s back, rolling his shoulders and pulling down his plain sky-blue t-shirt as he looked around.
“When you thinking of asking?” Ben inquired, smiling as Harry bit his lip and rubbed the back of his neck.
“I dinne kae, we’ve already talked about the possibility of marriage, I wanted ta make sure she was okay with it and she's all for it, but I have no clue when or how I’m gonna ask ‘er” Ben patted Harry’s back again in sympathy, not really having any advice for the flustered Harry.
“I’m sure you’ll figure something out” Ben laughed, standing straight along with Harry as the shop worker returned with Harry's card and handed it to him.
“Thank you, Mr. Hook, it should be ready next month, we’ll give you a call about any updates and when it's finished. Thank you for coming to Doc's jewelry shop” Harry nodded and put his card in his wallet, nodding at Harriet as she grabbed CJ and dragged her out of the store following Harry and Ben, CJ pouting as she stared at the shiny rings.
“Ice cream” CJ demanded, wrenching herself out of Harriet's grip and looking up at Harry with a pout, but she was wearing Harry's hoodie, which almost encased her body completely and it made her much less threatening than she usually was with that ‘Hook’ glare on her face.
“I jus’ bought a fukin’ ring CJ, I ain't buying yeh nothing, yeh have money, use it” Harry snapped, glaring back down at his little sister as she puffed her cheeks and slapped his arm.
Ben laughed loudly and nodding his head towards the ice cream down towards the left end of the strip mall “Come on, I’ll buy” CJ cheered and raced towards the ice cream shop, Harry and Harriet giving the king a look of thanks as Ben trailed after CJ.
-end of part 7-
part 7 bbys~ yep, everything's coming together~ we officially getting to the timeline of D3 and interlude is finally in 2019 yall. and i knoooow Gil and Jane broke up, but while i don't have problem with age gaps, Gils 18, janes 16 (turning 17 that year but still) it looks a bit weird and while FG approves of their relationship the two decided it would be best to wait until Jane is a legal adult. anyway, yep, Harrys gonna propose...HAVE FUN WITH THAT!

@taznovembercelebration - Day 6: Mermaids / By the fire
Barry was freezing. The tips of his fingers were numb, even as he held them up near the fire. He was wearing as many layers as humanly possible. Next to him, Lucretia’s teeth were chattering, her hands shaking as she scribbled in her journal. Magnus, who was usually a walking radiator, had three blankets over his shoulders, sipping soup from his thermos.
It’ll be worth it, if things turn out the way they planned. Granted, this was the third night they had spent out in the cold, but it couldn’t be too long now. There had to be something here! Just- just a trace or a hint- the flash of scales in the water, the vaguely humanoid speech pattern somewhere in the distance. There were things here, under the ice, and Barry was determined to find it.
Merfolk, other adventures and researchers claim. Merfolk, in the freezing cold water. Merfolk, warming on a rock. Merfolk, splashing each other with waves. Merfolk, and Barry had to find them because if he came back with no evidence, no one would ever believe in him again.
“I’m gonna go look again,” Barry said, grabbing the lantern. Stepping away from the fire was hard. Lucretia nodded, not looking up from her book.
“Come back if it gets too cold,” Magnus said and Barry murmured his agreement before heading out into the dark.
The ice hadn’t completely frozen over yet. As winter came closer, they were losing their chance to see the Merfolk with each day that passed. Barry trudged through the snow, holding the lantern out to illuminate the small path in front of him. He’s careful when stepping onto the ice- the edges are thick enough to hold his weight now, but anxiety often got the better of his mind and it was better to be safe than sorry.
The lantern cast shadows over the ground. He could barely see through the ice at this point. Barry pushed up his glasses and went a bit further in, slowly examining the ice for a shift of something. He got his hopes up a few times by seeing large fish below the surface, but it wasn’t right. He knew what Merfolk where supposed to look like. He had studied them the past thirty years of his life. He needed to find them, he need this-
The ice crackled below his feet. Barry stepped back as the ice he had just been standing up split. His lantern fell, cracking on the ice, glass splintering apart. The bulk of the object fell into the ocean and now he was just in the moonlight, with sharp glass at his feet, and no way to see any movement below.
“Fuck,” Barry said to himself. And then a louder, “Fuck!” He grabbed at his hair, tugging at it in anger and anxiety. Idiot. Idiot! Now he’d have to find his way back to camp without any light and tell the others how stupidly he had messed up and-
Gods, he was tired.
Barry inched away from the ice, careful not to break it again. He had barely gotten to safe ground when there was a scraping and something hit the back of his leg. Barry jumped, spinning around, very nearly kicking over his lantern.
His lantern?!
It was lit again, the glass repaired like it had never broken. In amazement, Barry dropped to his knees. It was... perfect. Looked brand new, even! With shaking hands, Barry picked it up, examining it at all angles. The scuff marks from previous expeditions were gone. The flame was real and warm. It flickered in place, glinting off of the glass. Barry pushed his glasses up, eyes wide.
His heart was pounding as he stood up again. He moved back towards where the ice had split. The glass that had shattered was gone. Not daring to breath, Barry felt around for anything heavy in his pocket. He found his phone and (stupidly) slammed it against the glass of the lantern. The glass shattered again and he dropped the lantern into the water again with a splash, extinguishing the flame.
And he waited. And he waited.
A light glowed from the water below. It rose up and up, as if being pushed back to the surface. The pieces of glass at Barry’s feet trembled and fell into the crack, compelled towards the light. Barry got on his knees, shaking wildly now, and peered in.
The lantern popped out to meet him.
And then something else popped out as well.
She was... wow. Wow, wow, wow. That’s the only word that Barry could think of to describe the Mermaid in front of him. Her skin looked rubbery and was colored with oranges and reds. Her hair seemed to be luminescent, glowing blond like some sort of- of sun goddess. Her eyes- beautiful, stunning, Barry only looked away when he remembered that Merfolk could hypnotize people.
“You’re real,” he whispered and to his surprise, the mermaid spoke at the exact same time, almost in sync with him.
“I knew it,” she said, in a hushed, amazed voice. “Greg Grimaldis owes me fifteen fuckin’ dollars!”

Some tips for buying a used car for people that know nothing about cars
I’m a mechanic/auto shop owner. I figured I’d put some stuff together for anyone interested in buying a used car but doesn’t know anything about cars. Obviously the best option is to take it to an auto shop to have it thoroughly inspected by a professional before you buy it. The key word here is BEFORE you buy it. I don’t know how many people I’ve had come to my shop for an inspection after they bought it….ugghh. The $150 or so you spend is worth not buying something that may have thousands of dollars of problems. But if that’s not an option, here are some tips to help keep you from buying a lemon:
1-Buy a cheap OBD scanner/reader. You don’t need to spend a lot, as they’ll all do what you need here. A bluetooth OBD reader and the TORQ app for you phone seems to be pretty popular/good choice. Practice using it on some cars. Some of the stuff I'm going over may seem daunting, but if you practice it on a car a few times, you'll get the hang of it, and this will all make sense. You could be saving yourself thousands in repair here, so take a few hours to practice it. It's not hard once you do. You should be able to do all of the stuff I'm going to talk about with your scanner in under 5 mins total. You don’t have to worry about reading and interpreting data. The main thing you want to do is check for codes in the engine and transmission ECUs. ECU stands for Electronic Contrul Unit. Basically, it's the computer that controls the engine or transmission. They are sometimes referred to as ECM, or Engine Control Module, and TCM, or Transmission Control Module. Sometimes they'll be referred to as PCM, or Powertrain Control Module. This is what it's called when only one computer controls both the engine and automatic transmission. The PCM may be one physical computer, but logically, it's 2 computers. So if you connect your scanner to a PCM, you'll still see two separate options, one for engine, and one for transmission. Do note that if you have a manual transmission, there won't be a transmission computer.
So when you connect to each one, there should be no codes in either. If there are codes, there’s an issue. It may be minor, it may be major. Google it if you want, but not knowing what the codes mean, your best bet is to walk away. If your scanner is a better one, you can also check other modules (computers) for codes. However, it’s pretty common on newer cars, especially European, to find obscure codes in obscure modules. Normally they’re not an issue. Focus on the Engine and Transmission. ABS (antilock brakes) and SRS (safety restrain system...airbags, seat belts, etc) modules normally shouldn’t have codes lingering either. Make sure to also check after test driving. The codes may have been reset by the seller to hide a problem (more on that in the next paragraph). They may have returned during your test drive, so check again!
Use the scanner to check the monitors on the engine ECU/Computer. Monitors are a series of self checks that the ECU does on the engine. All applicable monitors should be set (passed/complete). They get reset when you clear the check engine light, or when you disconnect the battery (usually). If all of the monitors haven’t passed, then it’s quite likely the person selling it has reset the check engine light recently (may be trying to hide a problem), or there’s a problem that isn’t allowing the monitor to complete. Not a good sign. Walk away. To complete all of the monitors can take quite a few miles and sometimes several days. So there's a good window there for you to catch someone doing some hanky panky.
2. Crank the engine without starting it. What you want to do is listen to the engine during a continuous crank. On American cars and on Mazdas, this is easy, as they have what’s known as a Clear Flood Mode. You turn the key to the on position, wait a few seconds, depress the gas pedal all the way, then try to start it. The engine will crank away without starting for as long as you hold the key (or in the case of a push button start, until you hit the button again). If the engine starts, quickly let off the gas so you don’t revv up the engine too high and try it again. You’ll want to listen to it for a good 10 seconds or so. This is a very easy way to check compression on an engine. The main thing you hear when cranking an engine is the electric starter working to try and spin the engine. As a piston comes up and compresses the air, the starter has to work harder to spin the engine, and the speed/pitch of the starter changes. Once the piston comes back down, it’s easier to spin the engine, so the speed/pitch changes back, and then repeats as each consecutive piston moves up in the compression stroke. Every engine sounds different, but they all should have a very steady rhythmic starting noise. Kind of a WAAA WAAA WAAA WAAA WAAA. If one or more of the cylinders has low compression, you will hear the starter have an off-rhythmic sound that repeats. So for instance, if you have a 4 cylinder engine with one low compression cylinder, it would sound like WAAA WAAA WA WAAA WAAA WAAA WA WAAA WAAA WAAA WA WAAA etc. Every 4th pitch change will sound different than the other 3.
For reference, here’s what a normal cranking sound should be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v0h_Ygqox0
Here’s what a low compression cylinder cranking sounds like. It’s at about :55 secs :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOghpmVhVng
If you listen closely, you’ll hear the unsteady rhythm. Loss of compression is usually piston rings, valves, or head gasket. All costly. If the engine sounds funny when cranking, walk away.
If the car you’re looking at doesn’t have a clear flood mode, you can remove the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment fuse box, which turns off the fuel pump. Most cars have one, but some don’t. Some cars can be a real PITA to disable it from starting. Google the car you’re looking at with something like “YYYY Make Model clear flood” or “YYYY Make Model disable fuel pump” and see if there’s an easy way to achieve this. I'm sure there will be a Youtube video showing you exactly how to do this.
Practice this beforehand on cars you have access to if possible to tune your ear to the sound. You can also do this periodically on your own car to see if any problems are arising.
3. Check the fluids. All of the fluids will have minimum/maximum marks. If fluids are low, someone has not been maintaining the car well, or it has developed a leak. Not a good sign. When checking the engine oil, it should range from clear to black. If it looks like chocolate milkshake, there is a major problem. RUN AWAY. You can also smell the oil on the dipstick to see if it smells like gasoline. If it smells like raw gasoline, the engine is either injecting way too much fuel or you have bad piston rings. Either way they're bad. If the oil level is WAY above the full mark, like an inch or more, then either some other fluid is making it's way into the engine (very bad) or someone sucks at doing an oil change. Remember to check the oil with the engine off and on level ground. Some new cars don’t have dipsticks (mainly European). If so, you’re SOL. Check the coolant in the reservoir. It should be green, pink, red, yellow, orange, blue, or purple, depending on manufacturer. If it’s rusty, walk away. Remove the radiator cap (only if the engine is cold) and look at the cap and in the radiator. If you see any rust or chunky/gritty brown stuff, walk away. If it’s just water, walk away (be careful here, Ford’s yellow coolant almost looks clear). Check the automatic transmission fluid. For the most part, it should be red, but sometimes amber or green. It may be black. That’s dirty. Not a deal breaker, but they haven’t been keeping up on maintenance. It should not smell burnt, though. That’s bad. If it looks like strawberry milkshake, that’s really bad. Also, remember that you should check the level on automatic transmissions while the engine is running in Park and after driving it and getting the transmission good and hot. The only exception is most Hondas. That’s checked after driving but with the engine off. Google it for the car you plan on looking at to make sure. Many new cars don’t have a transmission dipsticks, so again, you’re SOL there.
4. Start the engine and listen for any noises. The engine should be cold. If it’s at operating temperature, the seller may have warmed it up to hide some cold start engine noises. Be wary. If it makes any noises, walk away.
5. Look for maintenance records. If it has consistent oil change records at an oil change place, at least they’ve been changing the oil. Unfortunately, oil change places only check easy profitable stuff. It’s better than nothing, though. If the records are all at an independent shop, that’s better. Indy’s will usually do a pretty thorough check up on the car when servicing it. If it has all dealer records, that’s the holy grail. Dealers will find any nick nack that’s wrong and upsell it. They also commonly don’t do thorough diagnostics (this is an unfortunate effect of the way dealer shops operate). So if it needed repairs, on top of having new parts that needed replacing, it may have other new parts that it didn’t even need. Plus those new parts will be good quality OEM parts, not chines junk of questionable quality.
6. Check that everything works on the car. Check the A/C, the heater, the windows, the locks, the mirrors, the head/parking/brake lights, etc. If the owner neglected to fix obvious problems, what else did they decide not to fix?
7. Look under the hood and look for any hokey work. Random zip ties holding things on, tape, broken plastic pieces, a battery that can move around if you push on it, wires hanging, etc. If it looks like unprofessional work has been done on what you can see, how bad is what you can’t see?
8. How does the car look? Is it dirty, full of scratches, stained? If the owner cares so little about the interior/exterior, they probably have the same attitude towards the mechanical part of it.
9. Check the tires. Aside from general condition, do they all match? If all the tires are different, they’re cheap/broke, and have probably cheaped out on a lot more than just tires. Lay your hand flat on the tire tread and light feel around the tires. If you feel a repeating pattern of flat spots/dips, you have suspension problems.
10. Try and stay away from used car dealers. Used car dealers get the majority of their cars from auctions. A lot of cars that go to auction are sent there by someone that doesn’t want it, usually because there are problems. Not all, but many. New car dealers send trade-ins that are too old or the wrong make to put on their lot, and some of those are decent. However, the small used car dealers usually buy the bottom of the barrel cars at auction. They’ll fix the minimum needed with the cheapest parts possible to maximize profit. They’ll make it look pretty, though. Good chance you’re buying a polished turd. Not all used car dealers are bad, though. Check reviews. Look at what they have on the lot. If they have a lot of high resale value cars on the lot, they're buying the good stuff at acution. If all of their cars are under $10k, with a lot under $5k, move on.
11. Obviously, test drive the car. Drive it at different speeds up to highway speeds. Brake easy, brake hard. Find a crappy road or railroad tracks to drive over. Make sure there are no noises or vibrations. Get it good and warm. When you’re done, open the hood and take a good whiff. Make sure there are no strong smells (like burning fluids or other things). Look under the car and see if anything is dripping or the bottom of the engine is covered in fluids (bring a flashlight, it can get dark under there). Don’t be alarmed if you see water dripping under the car at about the same area as the base of the windshield/firewall. If the A/C or defroster was on, that is just condensate from the A/C system. Touch it. If it’s not oily and looks/feels like water, it should be OK. If you’re test driving a manual car, the clutch engagement point should be somewhere in the middle of the clutch pedal travel. If it’s right at the top or right at the bottom, clutch repairs are in the near future.
12. This one is a little more advanced, but not too difficult. It’s also pretty important. You’ll need your OBD scanner. What you want to do is look at the engine data and search for the fuel trims. An engine computer injects fuel based on a bunch of sensor inputs. It has a base fuel map programmed into it that it references, based on those sensor inputs, and injects XXX amount of fuel. There is an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system that analyzes the exhaust gas and acts like a quality control inspector. It tells the computer whether it injected too much or too little fuel. The computer then makes adjustments to that base fuel map to make sure it’s injecting the proper amount of fuel. Those adjustments are called fuel trims. A 5% fuel trim would mean the computer had to add 5% more fuel than the base map. A -5% fuel trim would mean that the computer had to reduce fuel by 5% from the base fuel map. In a perfect world, fuel trims would be zero. However, that’s rarely the case. Fuel quality, different atmospheric conditions, engine wear, engine or sensor problems, etc, make it so that the base fuel map is never perfect, so the computer is always adding or subtracting fuel (usually it’s adding, but sometimes it’s subtracting). I don’t like to see a computer adding or subtracting more than 10% fuel. Any more than that and there may be a problem. Any more than 15-20% and there is definitely a problem.
So what you’re going to want to do is look at the data on the engine computer. You want to make sure you connect to the computer using the GENERIC OBD2 option on your scanner. Different car manufacturers will call these fuel trims by different names, and display the percentage in different ways. If you connect to the engine computer the standard way, you may be confused trying to find and read the fuel trims. But if you connect using the generic obd option, it’s always going to use a standardized display format across all vehicles. Some really cheap OBD scanners only connect using the generic OBD protocol. You’re going to see a long list of a bunch of different data. Scroll through until you find “short term fuel trim” and “long term fuel trim”. I'm not going to explain what the difference between those two data parameters are, as that doesn't matter here, and may end up being confusing. I'm just going to tell you what to do with the values you see.
Short term fuel trim, depending on your scanner, may be displayed as: Short term fuel trim, STFT, ST, or ST%
Long term fuel trim may be displayed as: Long Term Fuel Trim, LTFT, LT, or LT%
Let’s assume your scanner uses the more common STFT and LTFT designation. You’re going to see a number after the letters, so STFT1 and LTFT1. The number means the “bank” or side of the engine. A 4 cylinder engine only has one “side” so you’ll only see STFT1 and LTFT1. However, a V6 or V8 engine has two sides of the engine (3 or 4 cylinders on one side, and 3 or 4 cylinder on the other side, hence the V6 or V8). The computer controls fuel independently for each side of the engine, so you’ll see a STFT1 and LTFT1 for one side of the engine, and STFT2 and LTFT2 for the other side. Don’t be alarmed if you’re looking at a V6 or V8 engine and you only see STFT1 and LTFT1. Many late 90s cars and some early 2000s cars didn’t control fuel separately for each side of the engine, and lumped both sides into one bank.
When looking at the short term and long term fuel trims, you’ll notice the long term fuel trim number stays pretty steady, but the short term fuel trim number may change a lot. This is normal. What is important to note is that they are cumulative. So if STFT=4 and LTFT=3, then your total fuel trim is 7%. Let’s take a look at some examples on a V8:
STFT1 : 3 ... STFT2 : 6
LTFT1 : 2 ... LTFT2 : 1
So the total fuel trim on bank 1 is 5% (3+2) and the total fuel trim on bank 2 is 7% (6+1). Each bank is below +/- 10%. That’s pretty good.
STFT1 : -5 ... STFT2 : 3
LTFT1 : 3 ... LTFT2 : 1
Bank 1 fuel trim is -2% (-5 +3) and bank 2 is 4% (3+1). Again, that’s good.
STFT1 : 6 ... STFT2 : 7
LTFT1 : 10 ... LTFT2 :15
Bank 1 fuel trim is 16% (6+10) and bank 2 is 22% (7+15). That’s not good. Walk away from this one.
Here's one more that's a littlte different:
STFT1 : -20 ... STFT2 : -20
LTFT1 : 22 ... LTFT2 : 20
Hey, 2% and 0% total fuel trim on each bank. SWEET! this car is running almost perfect! Well not really. Why is the LTFT adding 22% but then the STFT is taking a bunch of it back? There may be an intermittent issue going on here. So add the absolute values together as well (treat -20 as 20) and see what that total is. Here we have 42 and 40. There's some interpretation required here that you'd need some experience to do, but I'd say anything over 25 when adding absolutes is cause for concern.
Check these numbers with the engine running at idle, and rev up the engine and hold it at about 2500rpms and check it there. Like I said, you may see the STFT number change pretty quickly, so just use the average of the numbers you see for that one. If you have someone with you, you can have them check the numbers while you drive as well.
Practice this on a car you have access to beforehand.
13. Last and not least, don’t trust the person selling the car. Trust your eyes, your ears, and your instinct. You don’t know this person, they may be lying about the car, or try and tell you that the thing you’re worried about is no big deal, it’s just this or that. Or they had a guy check it out and it’s a really easy/quick fix. Be patient and find the right car. If something is fishy or doesn’t seem right, move on to the next car. A car is a pretty big expense. Most people budget for the purchase price of a car and don’t consider there may be considerable extra expense in fixing major problems. Minimize the possibility of those extra expenses by inspecting the car the best you can.
I would recommend running through these things, and any others you want to add, on your current car, your parents’ cars, friends’ cars, etc. Do it several times. Get comfortable in making these checks so that when you’re doing them in front of some stranger on their car, you won’t forget anything.

But are Steve and Tony taking on more than they can handle, and will Peter be able to adjust to a warm and welcoming family home? A/N: Sorry for the wait! Next part should be up within the next few days! Hope you enjoy!
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
Tumblr media
When Peter woke up the next morning, the house was a flurry of movement; Morgan played with her dolls, blissfully unaware of what was going on. But downstairs Tony was vacuuming and Steve was preparing something in the kitchen. it took Peter a moment too long to realised that someone was coming over.
“Morning Pete!” Tony called, turning off the vacuum cleaner and grinning.
“Morning sirs, who is coming over?” Peter mumbled, still half asleep. A heartbeat later he realised his slip up and Peter took a step backwards, he shouldn’t have asked. “Sorry sirs, you don’t have to tell me.” Peter stuttered, nervously glancing up at Steve who didn’t look up from the flour he was measuring.
“it’s just some family friends.” Tony said and Peter nodded, keeping his eyes down at the floor. He could feel Tony watching him and it made Peter wish he had the ability to turn invisible, to simply disappear.
“oh, okay.” Peter murmured, starting to back away.
“You alright Pete?” Tony asked and now Peter could feel Steve’s attention on him too, the hair on the back of his neck stood up.
“Fine.” He started to back away, to make his escape when Steve spoke.
“Why don’t you help me make these brownies? They were my mother’s recipe and I know you’ll love them.” Steve said and Peter’s entire body tensed up as anxiety flooded his system.
“Oh uh, okay can I get dressed first sir?” Steve nodded, eyes studying Peter.
“Sure, whenever you’re ready.” Peter nodded before heading back upstairs to change out of his brand new pyjamas into some brand new clothes. Everything in his life was so shiny and pristine and new. He’d heard several kids whispering about it in the hallways and in his classes at school. The new phone, clothes, backpack, shoes, all of it. Flash had glared at him all week, had even tried to provoke Peter into fighting. But his body still ached with every movement and Peter wasn’t stupid enough to take the bait. Peter got dressed, he’d shower later. Peter’s main goal now was to make sure he didn’t piss off Steve and he was pretty sure that Tony had noticed how much he’d pulled back, turned inward. Peter had let his guard down for a minute, let these people in, he was foolish in thinking that they’d be any different from the Thompson’s. they were all the same, violent and cruel. The difference was that the Thompson’s had been honest about it.
-
“is it just me or is Peter acting different?” Steve asked as soon as he had disappeared back upstairs. Tony rose a brow and made his way over, lifting one of Steve’s hands and pressing his lips against the knuckles.
“he’s been different.” Tony murmured and a shot of guilt flashed through Steve.
“You know I didn’t mean to get violent right?” Steve whispered and Tony nodded.
“He’s not sure what to think of us anymore, and that’s okay. It’ll just take time before he remembers that we aren’t going to hurt him.” Tony murmured but it only made Steve feel worse.
“He was finally starting to adjust and I ruined it, didn’t I?” Tony shook his head.
“No sweetheart, you haven’t done anything wrong. it’s going to be fine.” Tony promised but still the guilt reverberated through Steve, he needed to make things right with Peter.
“what should I say to him? To make things good again?” Tony shook his head and took a step back.
“Stevie he’ll come around eventually but if you try and force it he’ll just pull further away. Just let it happen on his terms alright?” Steve nodded, knowing that Tony was right but hating that that was his only option.
“I hate that I’m the screwup.” Steve whispered and Tony groaned.
-
It broke Tony’s heart when Steve got like this, he hadn’t seen Steve in this headspace for a while now and it scared Tony to see him like this today.
“you are not the screwup. You are the glue that holds this family together alright?” Tony murmured and Steve nodded but wouldn’t meet his eyes.
“Do you want me to organise an appointment with the therapist?” Tony asked and Steve nodded after a moment.
“Okay.” Steve whispered and Tony nodded as a sense of relief washed through him. Good, therapy was good for Steve. Kept the PTSD and anxiety at bay during the rough times. Tony stood up on his tip toes and pressed his lips against Steve’s wrapping his arms around his husband’s neck. Steve’s hands came to rest on Tony’s waist, pulling him closer. There was a cough behind them and Tony pulled back, turning to see Peter who had gone bright red.
“sir?” he asked, motioning to Steve’s brownie concoction.
“I’ll leave the two of you to it.” Tony said and went upstairs to check up on Morgan, giving Peter and Steve the alone time they needed to repair their relationship.
-
“You alright Pete?” Steve asked, watching Peter as he mixed the ingredients together. Peter’s stomach clenched at the sound but he nodded his head, pretending like he was perfectly fine.
“I’m fine sir. After this is done I’ll go upstairs while your friends are over. I swear that they won’t even know I’m here.” Peter said and risked a nervous glance to Steve who frowned.
“Why would I want you to hide up in your room?” at that, Peter shrugged. Every time Mr Thompson had told him to hide out in his room, Peter has asked himself that exact question but had never come up with an answer. But it had been necessary for Peter’s survival so he hadn’t argued.
“I’ll just study, it’s fine sir.” Peter lied even though he didn’t want to have to hide out in his room. But maybe it would be safer. Mr Thompson had been more prone to violence when drinking, Steve seemed to be the same. Was he planning on drinking today?
“Pete we want you to be a part of today. I want you there alright? You’re a part of this family now.” Steve murmured, his voice soothing and gentle. Peter wanted to believe it, wanted to relax around Steve. He hated how uncomfortable he felt now, but what was he supposed to do? If he let down his walls he’d just end up hurt again.
“Okay sir.” Peter said because there was nothing else to say. His heart was hammering inside of his chest and his mind racing a million miles an hour. You’re a part of this family now. but then his mind flashed back to Steve’s bloody and swollen fists and a wave of discomfort rolled through Peter again. He couldn’t let his guard down here, he couldn’t trust the Stark-Rogers’ he needed to get out of here before he got hurt.
-
There was a loud knock at the front door that sent a grin onto Steve’s face. He turned just in time to see Morgan bolting for the front door and swinging it open to reveal Bucky.
“Uncle Bucky!” he immediately bent down and scooped her up into his arms, crushing her against his chest.
“dragă!” Bucky said and she giggled at the familiar nickname. He moved inside the house and his grin grew larger when his eyes landed on Steve.
“Hey Stevie!” he said, his voice light and laced with laughter as Morgan clung to him. It warmed his heart to see his daughter in his best friend’s arms.
“Hey Buck.” Buck wrapped his free arm around Steve in an odd half-hug, and then they separated.
“Tony.” Bucky winked and Tony chuckled.
“How was the drive?”
“Good, long, but totally worth it.” he glanced at Morgan who giggled.
“Can’t believe my daughter stole my best friend.” Steve grumbled and Tony let out a laugh.
“honey you’ve got to let that go.” Steve scoffed and Bucky rose a brow.
“Sorry Stevie, but dragă’s the only one for me.” Bucky shrugged and Tony pursed his lips together.
“You have to meet Peter!” Morgan insisted and Bucky’s head whipped towards Morgan.
“Peter?” he all but shrieked, looking back to Steve.
“Your competition for her affections.” Tony said and Steve saw Bucky’s eyes widen dramatically, sending Morgan into a fit of giggles.
“dragă?” Bucky asked and Morgan giggled.
“Princess why don’t you go get Peter while we talk to your uncle.” Steve said and she nodded. Bucky put her down and she took off back upstairs.
“What’s going on?” Bucky asked and Tony moved beside Steve, taking Steve’s hand.
“The social worker who led us to Morgan made a call asking if we’d take in an emergency placement.” He rose his brows and nodded.
“So you’ve taken in another kid?” he asked and Steve shook his head.
“Peter’s a teenager.” Now Bucky seemed shocked, looking back and forth between Steve and Tony.
“A teenager?” they nodded and Steve tensed up, preparing to defend any objections that Bucky may have to Peter.
“Peter’s lovely.” Tony murmured and Bucky scowled.
“I can’t believe I’ve already lost Morgan to a teenage boy.” Bucky grumbled and Steve laughed. Tipped his head back and let it rumble out of him.
“That’s what that reaction was?” Steve asked and Bucky’s scowl deepened. Then he was laughing and Tony joined them, the laughter subsided and Buck shook his head.
“How is it with a teenager?” Steve and Tony shared a look, it had certainly been a bumpy ride so far-but that was not Peter’s fault.
“It’s not what we expected, but he’s a really good kid.” Tony murmured and Steve nodded in agreement.
“So when are you adopting him?” Bucky asked with a raised brow and Steve shook his head. They’d agreed that they weren’t going to say anything, not until it was official.
“dammit Barnes, as soon as we can get the papers drawn up.” Tony grumbled and Bucky chuckled. Morgan returned moments later, a frown on her face.
“Peter said that his side was hurting again.” The smile’s dropped from Steve and Tony’s faces and they made their way back upstairs, Morgan and Bucky on their heels.
-
Peter groaned on the bed, his stitches were burning and his body shuddering.
“Pete?” it was Steve who spoke and Peter’s body tensed. Shit.
“I’m fine sir.” Peter murmured and flinched when Steve’s hand came to rest on his shoulder.
“No you’re not, what’s wrong?” Peter shook his head, he didn’t want to upset Steve.
“I’m fine! Seriously!” Peter insisted and Steve pulled back, looking more hurt now.
“Pete?” he asked, voice gentle and soft and Peter squeezed his eyes shut.
“Can I take a look at it?” Tony asked and Peter nodded. When his shirt was lifted someone gasped and Tony sighed.
“have you been taking your antibiotics and using the antibacterial wash?” Peter shook his head.
“Why not?” Steve asked, a hint of irritation in his tone that made Peter cringe.
“I didn’t want to waste it on myself. I thought it would be better if we had it here already in case one of you got injured sirs.” Peter explained and Tony sighed.
“Peter we would have bought more medication in that instance, alright? Please take your medication.” Peter nodded, opening his eyes to see the unfamiliar stranger. The man was built like a brick, solid muscles and oh so very tall.
“this is uncle bucky.” Morgan said and Peter attempted to smile but was intimidated by the man.
“Hello sir.” Peter managed and Bucky’s brows furrowed slightly.
“you can just call me Bucky.” Peter looked down at his hands, it was a trap, a punishment waiting to happen as soon as he was informal towards the guest.
“thank you sir.” Peter said and Bucky scrunched up his nose.
“we should probably get this barbecue started Stevie, Nat’s going to be hungry when she gets in.”
“Aunt Tasha’s coming?” Morgan’s eyes practically popped out of her head and Bucky scrunched up his face.
“I’m guessing that was supposed to be a surprise?” he asked and Steve nodded.
“Way to blow it.” there was an ease in his voice, a lightness that should have been comforting but the words put Peter one edge.
“We’ll meet you downstairs in a minute. “ Tony said as the others exited Peter’s room.
“sir?” Peter asked, sitting upright.
“Please take your medication Peter, and use the antibacterial wash alright?” Peter nodded, not wanting to look at Tony.
“Okay sir.”
“And are things alright with you and Steve?” Peter nodded, his mind flashing back to the night he’d first met Steve and Tony, when he’d seen Steve jab Tony in the elbow.
“Fine sir.” Peter said and Tony frowned.
“you’re not lying to me are you Peter?” Tony asked and Peter hesitated only a moment before shaking his head.
“You do not need to worry about me sir.” Peter assured him and Tony sighed.
“Peter, it’s our job to worry about you now alright?” he nodded but didn’t move, held his breath and counted the seconds before he had to exhale.
“I’m fine sir. I promise.” Peter swore but Tony just rose a brow. But he mercifully didn’t subject Peter to anymore questions, just nodded his head.
“Let’s get you fixed up.”
-
Eventually Peter and Tony came back downstairs, Peter looking better now.
“When’s aunt Tasha coming?” Morgan asked and as if she’d been summoned, there was a knock at the door. Tony opened it and Natasha strode in wearing black jeans, a leather jacket and high heeled boots. She held a basket in her hands which consisted of exotic chocolates, a teddy bear and a snow globe of the pyramids.
“Tasha!” Morgan cried, running towards Nat who set the basket aside to pull her in.
“Hi baby girl, how are you?” she asked, squeezing Morgan tightly. Steve glanced at Peter who was yet to be noticed by Nat but it was only a heartbeat later when a gasp fell from the woman’s lips.
“And who is this?” she asked as she straightened up, taking in Peter.
“It’s nice to meet you ma’am, I’m Peter.” He held out his hand and she ignored it, pulling him in for a tight hug. To Peter’s credit, he only winced slightly.
“And how do you know the Stark-Rogers family?” Natasha asked and Steve shifted his weight uncomfortably, stomach dropping out of him. Sometimes Nat could be as delicate as a freight train.
“We’re fostering him at the moment.” Tony said and her brows rose.
“I didn’t know you wanted another kid.” Her eyes darted between Tony and Steve, hurt and betrayal written all over her face.
“I was an emergency placement ma’am.” Peter said and her brows rose.
“what am I forty? You can call me aunty Tasha.” Nat told him and he nodded.
“Thank you ma’am.” Nat’s eyes met Bucky’s who simply shrugged, the room awfully quiet.
“if I had known I would have gotten you a present, I’m sorry Peter.” Nat said, filling up the silence that had filled the air. Peter just shook his head, retreating ever so slightly.
“Don’t worry about it ma’am.” Peter murmured, not even looking slightly disappointed.
“You can have the chocolates.” Morgan held the package out to him and Peter squatted down so he was eye-level.
“That’s your chocolate miss, but thank you for offering.” She pouted but didn’t argue, her sweet tooth getting the better of her.
-
Tony sent the email to Susan White on the PTA informing her that he would be unavailable for the bake sale tomorrow. Truth was that he and Steve had done enough damage to the Thompson’s for a week, Tony would get his own turn eventually.
“Daddy come quick!” Morgan’s voice rang out through the whole house and Tony followed it, finding her in the kitchen, Steve beside her and Bucky just out of Steve’s view with a phone in hand.
“What’s wrong?” Steve asked, eyes assessing her body for any injuries that she could have had.
“the flour is too heavy!” she pointed at the bowl on the counter and Steve rose a brow.
“The flour is too heavy?”
“Uncle Bucky asked if I could get him the flour and it’s too heavy!” her bottom lip quivered and Tony narrowed his eyes, she was good.
“it’s alright princess I can get it.” Steve turned and went to pick up the bowl but it didn’t budge. So he added a second hand and pulled, flour went flying and Tony let out a bark of laughter as Steve’s entire front was covered in flour. Morgan was wildly giggling and Bucky stepped out, shaking with laughter himself. Steve rose an unimpressed brow, shaking his head and stuck his tongue out at Bucky.
“Haha Barnes, you’re hilarious. Turning my own daughter against me, what’s next you’re going to go after Peter?” at that Bucky shrugged, a smirk splayed on his face.
“Might do.” Steve turned and his blue eyes met Tony’s alight with laughter.
“Did you have something to do with this?”
“No your best friend was the only adult corrupting our child, I was just a witness to her crimes.” Tony said and Morgan pouted at the words.
“Crimes?” Bucky asked and Tony nodded somberly, turning to the basket on the table.
“guess daddy and I will just have to eat these chocolates tonight.” Tony teased and Morgan rose a defiant brow.
“No!” she shrieked, rushing over to Tony and wrapping her arms around his leg.
“tell me you love me the most and I wont.” Tony said and Bucky gasped.
“it’s a trap, dragă don’t do it.” Bucky pleaded but she was grinning up at Tony and he felt a smug sense of satisfaction roll through him as he knew he had won.
“I love you the second most daddy.” Tony’s eyes nearly popped out of his head and Bucky, the smug asshole, lost it laughing.
“mmhmm.” Tony said but handed her the chocolates anyway because she was too adorable to resist.
“let’s go see what aunt Tasha’s up to.” Tony said, taking Morgan’s hand and leading her away. He got the feeling that Steve wanted to talk to Bucky today, alone.
-
As soon as they were gone Steve began to wash the flour off of his face.
“She’s such a cute kid.”
“was this her idea?” Steve asked and Bucky nodded, sitting down on a bar stool.
“Absolutely, she’s so smart that it’s insane!” he shook his head and Steve nodded.
“How are you Buck?” Bucky’s smile slipped away and he shrugged.
“I’m alright, just try to keep busy with my job. How are you?” his eyes dropped down to Steve’s hands, they were still swollen and there were scabs on the knuckles.
“Peter’s last fosters were abusive, I mean you saw him. And last night at Tony’s boss’ birthday the guy was there and I just…”
“lost it?” Bucky asked softly and Steve nodded his head.
“I haven’t been like that since, well you know.” Bucky nodded his head.
“I know.” Steve had known Bucky since he was a teenager, they’d joined the military together and Bucky had seen Steve on his darkest of days. He knew how Steve could get if his mind went to a dark enough place.
“Is that why the kid is so jumpy around you?” Steve nodded, another wave of guilt crashed through him.
“I think so. God that makes me feel sick to think about. We were getting along and then I just blew it.” Steve shook his head, and Bucky pressed his lips together to form a thin and hard line.
“But you’re okay right? last night was just one incident?” Steve nodded, shifting uncomfortably.
“Of course Buck, I’m going to go take a shower now though, get this flour off of me.” and just like that the air was light again and Steve felt like he could breathe.
“Totally Morgan’s idea.” Bucky promised and Steve rolled his eyes.
“sure thing.” but as he started to walk away, his hands began to tremble just a little.
-
Tony was sitting alone in the living room, just taking a moment to himself when that moment was ruined by Bucky’s entrance.
“Tony can we talk?” No. Tony just wanted a moment of peace, a breath to recalibrate and put on his sociable and bubbly personality.
“what about?” Tony asked instead as Bucky sat down on the couch beside him.
“I’m worried about Steve.” At that, Tony squeezed his eyes shut. Bucky had been there since the beginning of Tony’s and Steve’s relationship, had been Steve’s best man at the wedding and had been in the court room when they adopted Morgan. Usually Tony and Bucky got along just as well as Steve and Bucky did, but there were still times when Bucky acted like a protective best friend who wasn’t sure if Tony was going to break Steve’s heart.
“He tell you about last night?” at that, Bucky nodded.
“mentioned it.”
“I’ve already emailed the therapist, he’s got an appointment on Thursday.” Tony said, staring up at the ceiling.
“He’s been having nightmares and panic attacks again, hasn’t he?”
“Maybe.” He’d had a couple, nowhere near as bad as when Tony had first married Steve. Steve was more in control of his mind now, he knew when the warning signs popped up.
“is it to do with Peter? Because if this is triggering him-“ Tony’s eyes snapped to Bucky and irritation flared in his gut.
“Now you’re overstepping.” He snarled as the anger and defensiveness rolled through him.
“this all started back up when you took Peter in right? he doesn’t look well and don’t tell me you haven’t noticed it, I know you have. And I’m sure Peter’s a good kid but if it’s harming Steve then-“
“That’s enough Bucky.” Tony snapped but Bucky wasn’t about to back down, it was quite the opposite and it was only irritating Tony more.
“don’t forget that I was there when Steve was at his worst, I don’t want to watch him go through with that again.”
“That is why I booked him in with the therapist.” Tony grumbled, a headache forming behind Tony’s eyes.
“are you sure that’s going to be enough?” no, Tony wasn’t sure. But he couldn’t doubt himself, he couldn’t doubt Steve. It had to be enough, Tony wasn’t sure what he’d do if it wasn’t.

Oh my god i lov ur art so much!! Ur so good at drawing ppl!!!i lov how u draw DT so much i could cry!! Would it be possible to show ur art process?
Oh my gosh thank you!! No one has ever asked for my process before. It got pretty long due to all the photos, so check out my art-process-slash-tutorial under the cut!
1. So the first step is, of course, figuring out what I want to draw. This is often the hardest step… but not for the last few months cause I always wanna draw DT lol.
2. Sketch the shapes and the “skeleton.”
Tumblr media
I pull out my trusty mechanical pencil and make a loose outline of the figure. You’re not really supposed to use mechanical because they makes dark lines and the pressure is hard to control. Teachers will tell you to use a hard graphite pencil for light, easily erasable lines. If you’re using this process as an example for some reason, do as I say not as I do lol.
I like to start with an oval for the head and work my way down. You’re not supposed to do that either. Teachers tell you to start with the “line of action” cause it helps make the pose cohesive and improves composition. I’ll do that when I’m going for a non-static pose, Teach, get off my back.
2. Flesh out the figure.
Tumblr media
Here’s where I make the lines. They’re called contours but they’re the lines of the drawing. That’s all. DT might be tricky for some artists because they’re very androgynous. I give ‘em some hip, shapely leggy, no boobs, wide shoulders and a snatched waist waiT I FORGOT THE FUCKING TAIL HOLD ON I GOTTAJ UST HOLDO N A MINUTE WAI
3. Add detail.
Tumblr media
This is where I work on the facial features and things like jewelry and clothing design. I count it as a separate step because I have to lean in reeeeeal close to get the little details right, and it usually takes a lot of erasing before I’m satisfied.
4. Ink it.
Tumblr media
Once my pencil drawing is sufficiently finished (and sometimes earlier shh), I start inking it with a felt tip pen. Some people use this thing called VaRyInG LiNe WiDtH or whatEVER but it’s easier to I like a nice thin line all throughout the drawing so the details don’t get lost. I use a .1 or .05 tip pen. For tiny details, I like to use a .005 if I have one! But I don’t have one :’(
If you’re the artist’s girlfriend, you have a step at this stage!
4.b. Watch your future wife slave over the drawing for three days without adding the tail and SAY NOTHING.
5. Erase the pencil.
Tumblr media
KEY: the pen must be dry. Felt tips are supposed to dry fast, but don’t be fooled. Give it at least a full minute. Trust me. Then CAREFULLY run a big eraser over the whole drawing to get rid of the pencil sketch underneath. Hold the edge of your paper in place and go slow, because the eraser WILL catch on the paper and it WILL fold your beautiful line drawing in half.
6. Clean up the lines.
An optional step. If I make some lines I’m not satisfied with, all is not lost. I use my handy white gel pen to clean them up. I simply draw the new line, and go over the old one with the gel pen.
Tumblr media
Note that this doesn’t really work if you want the new line to be on the inside of the shape. Markers don’t like to go over gel pen so good. I’ve tried. Also doesn’t work if you’re planning to add a background for the same reason.
Tumblr media
Et voila! You can hardly even see where the old line was.
7. Whip out the Bucket of Assorted Alcohol Markers™ and do the flat colors.
Tumblr media
Everything I’ve put on this blog so far has been colored with alcohol markers. They’re long-lasting, they’re smooth, they’re printer-perfect, they’re outrageously expensive, they’re sometimes available at wish.com for a fraction of the store price, they’re great. When you do the flat colors, you want to put down the lightest colors in the drawing first. You can’t layer light colors on top of dark. They won’t show up and the light marker will absorb the dark color. Basically, do the highlight colors first. They might look bad together. That’s OK. These aren’t the final colors of the drawing.
If you don’t have your own BoAAM™, no problem. Simply borrow your sister’s in exchange for a stint with your Nintendo Switch.
The next step is to add the shadows. If you’re like me, and you’re just getting back into art after neglecting it for a few years, don’t try to do something complicated like back-lighting or a sheer scarf on top of a dark material. That’s really the worst decision you can make.
8. Add shadows that indicate back-lighting, and keep in mind the sheer scarf on top of the dark dress will need all new colors for every layer of shadow you choose to add.
Tumblr media
A whole book could be written on how to color shadows, so I’ll try to keep it brief. If the light source is warm colored (like sunlight or your average lightbulb), the shadows should be cooler. If the light source is cool (like, I don’t know, the neon sign at your favorite club), the shadows should be warmer. Here I have light green and hot pink for the highlights; I used blue-green and purple for the shadows, respectively.
You might wonder why I color the entire shape with the lighter color if only a little bit of it shows through. There is some layering effect with markers. The purple I used on the dress was really QUITE purple - but when put on top of the hot pink, it looks more like a dark pink! Essentially, layering colors makes the end result more cohesive.
And hey don’t forget the tai– fuck.
9. Add some more shadows, and
10. Add the finishing details, because I forgot to take a picture in between these two steps oops.
Tumblr media
If you’re going for intense lighting, you’ll want high contrast. That means using a very light highlight and/or a very dark shadow. So, I added two (2) more layers of shadow. It’s most noticeable on the dress - you can see the hot pink at the edges, then the pinkish-purple, then the dark purple, then the DARKER purple that accentuates the waves in the fabric of the dress.
Now to finish off my drawings I whip out the white gel pen again. This is SO useful. It can go on top of (dry) marker or pen or whatever and it’s small and precise. Here I used it to add shinies on the eyes, shinies on the jewelry, highlights on the hair, and sparkles on the dress. It makes things POP. I seriously cannot recommend a white gel pen enough if you do traditional art.
11. Ah fuck I forgot the tail.
DRAW the fucking tail and TRY to remember which of your 24,124 colors you used on the rest of the skin damn it was it hydrangea blue or phthalo blue
12. Scan it. Or, if you’re like me and are stuck in a hotel while your home repairs are taking pace, take a picture with your phone. Mind the angle - make sure your camera/phone is parallel to the paper or it’ll get distorted.
13. Digital editing. Play with the exposure and contrast and whatnot in your phone’s photo editing software until you’re satisfied with the result.
15. UPLOAD. DONE. CELEBRATE.

PART 5 | ADDICTED MASTERLIST
Steve limps off the jet, supported by Sam and Bucky on each side; both men in just as much pain but Steve had gotten it the worst.
Everyone is hurt in different ways. Wanda broke her wrist, holding her arm gently as she follows the group towards the med bay, hoping she doesn't need surgery. Tony grunts with each step, every muscle in his body aching as the particles that make up his suit retreat to the chamber on his chest.
Natasha takes the gauze off the gash on her forehead, checking for any fresh blood. She smirks as Clint passes by, calling out for Lucky. The dog runs out jumping on Clint, ignoring the two black eyes and a splint going across his nose. This isn’t the first time it’s broken and it won’t be the last either but Lucky doesn’t care as his tongue laps away at Clint’s face.
The medical staff is overwhelmed by everyone rushing in. Steve fights the help he desperately needs, hissing through a clenched jaw as he tries to ensure the team gets treated first for their injuries.
“Easy Cap.” Sam forces Steve to lie back on the table. “You gotta let them fix you up, alright? You don't wanna worry your girl too much.” Bucky’s expression drops but he continues to help Steve out of his gear.
All Steve could think about was Y/N, aside from the throbbing in his head, most likely a concussion. His leg was aching too from the thick piece of metal that lodged itself in there.
He expects to heal quickly but between the other injuries he has his body is going to be working overtime.
He reaches for his phone, catching a glimpse of his shadowed reflection against the dark screen. His busted lip is swollen, his skin is covered in dirt, caked with blood and sweat. He feels as bad as he looks, maybe worse but he’s holding it together for everyone.
It’s earlier than he thought, having been on the plane for hours, drifting in and out he didn’t quite pay attention to the time. He reviewed the message he sent Y/N as they were headed back to the Tower.
Steve: Hi sweetheart, we’re on our way back. I’m pretty banged up but I don’t want you to worry. I’ll be alright in a few days. You might not want to see me until then, not by the way my face is looking right now. I miss you and I love you. Steve.
She had only replied to him fairly recently, letting him know she was on her way and seeing that message made his heart feel lighter. The truth was Y/N missed Steve’s initial text. She was keeping herself extra busy with work during his week long absence. Her phone was on silent as she hosted an open house for potential buyers.
As soon as it was over she locked up and grabbed a cab, racing to the Tower, not caring that her feet were aching from the heels she’s been in all day. Steve was hurt and it sounded bad, and all she wanted to do was see him. Her stomach twisted itself into knots during the prolonged car ride thanks to early evening traffic but she was nearly there.
When she pulled up to the front of the Tower she paid the cab driver, ignoring his questions about who she might be and why she was going into the headquarters of the Avengers. It wasn’t on purpose but all she could think about was Steve, guilt eating away at her as she realized she hadn’t thought about him much since he left, not since she shared that longing gaze with Bucky.
At the entrance Y/N is greeted by the familiar faces of the security guards who send her up to the medical wing. As the elevator doors opened she dashed to her left, heels clattering against the polished floor, ignoring the pain in her feet as she walked briskly towards her destination.
She stopped in the hallway at the sight of Bucky closing a door behind him. He looked even more tired than when she last saw him. His face was covered in a film of grime with greasy strands tucked behind his ear.
His mouth falls open when he sees how incredible she looks. A simple black dress has never looked better and the leather jacket she wears over it makes his cock stir, and fuck, those shoes. Pointed toe pumps with straps all over covered in dangerous looking studs. He would kill to feel those scrape against his back as he fucks her.
Bucky stops, ignoring the throb in his pants. He can’t think like that anymore. His lips press into a somber thin line and he looks away from her. Y/N opened her mouth to say something but Bucky doesn’t have the strength to hear it. He brushes past her, inhaling her scent, that sweet fragrance that’s been tainted with worry, over Steve.
Y/N takes deep breath, pushing Bucky out of her mind as she heads inside Steve’s room. He’s happy to see her, his lips pulling into a soft smile that aches at the moment but he pushes through. Tears fall down her cheeks as she sees the aftermath of the mission, beaten into his face.
“I’m alright sweetheart, I promise,” Steve reassured.
Y/N sat on the chair beside his bed, lacing her fingers with his. Tears continued their stream as she took note of every cut on what was once flawless skin, with red abrasions standing out like a cardinal in the snow.
“I’ll be better in no time, I’m a super soldier, remember?”
Another smile stretches across his face as Steve tries to lighten the mood, this time pulling a little too much as his lip splits open again. Y/N grabs some gauze pads, gently dabbing at the blood.
“You don’t look very super now Steve.” She frowned, sniffling. “Why didn’t you ask me to come over?”
“I didn’t want you to worry about me… but I’m glad you’re here.” He caressed her cheek and Y/N leaned into his warm palm.
She didn’t come because of Steve’s message.
When she finally got to her screen after the open house the message she saw had nearly given her a heart attack. Bucky. Seeing his name above a text message made her thoughts split into a million scenarios of why he was contacting her. Is he hurt? Is he dead? After reading the text she held back tears.
Bucky: We’re back, Steve’s hurt. you should come see him
“Please don’t cry,” Steve murmured, wiping away her tears with his thumb.
“I love you Steve,” Y/N said.
Leaning down, she gently pressed her lips against his swollen ones, feeling him wince against her. She pulled away with a coppery taste in her mouth, a soured reflection of her relationship with Steve.
Hours later Bucky came back to check on Steve not realizing Y/N was still there. He froze, blushing with embarrassment, staring at them in fear as if they had been able to see what has occupied him the last few hours.
Bucky was freshly showered, his hair finally soft and clean again though he felt nothing but dirty. In the shower he stroked himself, tugging at his balls, swiping at his leaking tip with his thumb over and over again to the image of Y/N in that outfit. He groaned as he came, hot ropes painting the tiled walls of his shower, wishing he was buried inside her heat again.
Steve’s eyes lit up as he greeted Bucky.
“Just checkin’ in to see how you’re feeling pal.” Bucky smiled uncomfortably, glancing over at Y/N as she was mid-yawn.
“Better now that my best girl came to see me.”
Y/N smiled softly at him before covering her mouth to hide another yawn.
“You should go home sweetheart.” Steve turned his head towards Bucky, “It’s late. Would you mind taking Y/N home, Buck?”
Her yawn was cut off by the immediate tingle of fear that ran down her spine. “No, no it’s okay Steve. You’ve all had a long trip back. I can get home myself.”
Y/N slipped her heels back on, limping slightly as she walked to grab her jacket from where it was hung. She missed the silent look Steve shared with Bucky, the one that meant he was trusting him with getting her home safe and Bucky knew there was no room for argument.
Bucky gave them a few minutes to say goodbye as he went back to his room to grab his phone and keys, as a bad feeling burned a hole in his stomach.
Tumblr media
The ride to her apartment was awkward, with the radio filling the void of silence. Bucky was trying not to stare at her bare legs, and how desperate he was to be between them again. He focused on the road instead, driving to Y/N’s apartment, a place in all the time they’ve spent together he’s never been. He frowned, not realizing how close she lived to him.
“It’s this one,” she cleared her throat, pointing it out as he slowed down on her block.
Bucky found a spot a few doors down from her building. Y/N was surprised when he turned off the engine, and even more surprised when he opened her door for her. Bucky offered her his arm to step down from the tall SUV.
“Thank you,” she said softly as she held on to him.
It felt so strange to be walking with Y/N to her apartment but Bucky promised himself he would only walk her to the front door to make sure she gets inside safely. It’s what Steve would want. He followed behind Y/N, averting his eyes from her tantalizing backside.
Focusing on her shoes isn’t any better but it does allow him the ability to see as her foot stumbles on the step. Quickly he reaches out for her, his arms instinctively going around her waist to ensure she doesn’t fall.
“I’m fine,” Y/N said, swallowing harshly, very much aware of Bucky’s firm grip around her.
Bucky was aware of it too, feeling the way her stomach tensed against him so he let go. Y/N held the banister as she continued to walk up the steps, holding back a whimper from the radiating ache in her foot.
At the top of the steps she digs in her bag for her keys and Bucky notices how she shifted her weight to the other foot.
“Those shoes are incredibly sexy but impractical for walking.”
With her key in the door Y/N paused at Bucky’s words, and Bucky, turning a not so subtle shade of pink must have realized what he said as well.
Y/N opened the door, limping again as she took a step inside. She was about to thank him before Bucky followed her in.
“What floor are you on?”
Her brows furrowed as she answered warily, “The fifth.”
Just like Bucky’s building, Y/N’s had no elevator and there was no way he was going to let her struggle up the steps.
“C’mere,” he said, gesturing his arms open.
Bucky waited for Y/N to step towards him before he scooped her up bridal style. Her heart was pounding as she looped her arm around his neck, her stomach twisting with unease about how right it felt to be in his arms again.
She gazes at Bucky and up close she can see the rough patches around his temple and on his cheek, light red scrapes that have already begun to heal. She adjusted her grip as he continued to walk up the steps, feeling the puffs of breath he was blowing out from his nose.
Bucky can bench press ten times her weight so she’s not offended. He’s hurt, and he’s hiding it. By the time they reach the top she can feel the rapid beat of his heart and the heaviness of his breathing.
Y/N points towards her door and Bucky sets her down gently.
“Thank you.” She smiled, taking a deep breath of her own before speaking again. “Do you want to come in and rest for a few minutes? Maybe I can get you a glass of water or something?”
Bucky huffs out another breath, contemplating what he should do. Water does sound good right now and he could take a minute to get his breathing under control but he knows he shouldn’t stay. His arid throat makes the decision for him. Y/N swallows a deep breath of her own; this isn't a big deal, it’s just water.
She unlocks her door, swinging it open as she blindly reaches her arm out on the wall for the light switch. Bucky shuts the door behind them, locking them all out of habit. Y/N leans against the wall as she takes off her heels, feeling immediate relief as her feet hit the cold wood floor.
Leading Bucky further into her apartment he passes the small kitchen in a nook off to the right and the circular glass table to the left with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers in the center. Their fragrance permeates the air, a sweet resemblance to her perfume. He wondered if she bought them for herself or if they were from Steve. I should have bought her flowers.
Bucky finds himself in her living room that is somewhat similar to his own. Candles of varying heights line the fireplace, the mantle is a simple beam of wood, distressed enough to match the aged brick surround.
Ignoring the modest television above the mantle, Bucky smiles instead as he glances over to the right. Through the glass paneled doors of a small accent cabinet Bucky can see the well worn spines of the books that filled the shelves. It was a shame he never asked her about the things they have in common. His heart skips a sullen beat as he realizes he’s known her for so long and yet there’s so much he doesn’t know.
He sits on the comfortable couch, watching Y/N walk with a slightly uneven gait as she heads back towards the kitchen.
“Did you want something other than water?”
“No, that’s fine,” Bucky called back to her.
He never really thought about Y/N’s apartment before being as they were always at his place, but as he looks around everything makes sense. The decor is a perfect reflection of her personality. He cranes his neck around to check out the art she has hanging above the couch, twisting a little too far and feeling an uncomfortable pull.
His hand reaches back to feel the gauze covering stitches he had to get. He feels the slight dampness of blood, confirming he’s pulled them. He rushes off the couch, not wanting to get blood on her furniture.
“Here you g–” Y/N stops, placing the water on the table the moment she saw Bucky’s tense face. “Are you okay?”
His lips formed a thin line. “Pulled my stitches.”
“Oh Bucky, let me help you.”
Y/N took him into the bathroom and they pass the entry to her bedroom. Bucky tries not to peek inside but he gets a glimpse of dim lighting reflecting soft colors. He sits on the edge of the tub as Y/N opens the medicine cabinet to pull out a box of bandages and antiseptic.
“Can I see?” she asked.
Reluctantly Bucky pulled his shirt over his head, trying to ignore all the times he’s undressed in front of her before. Y/N pressed her lips together at the sight of his bare torso. He’s a little banged up, with more scrapes littering his chest and bruising around his ribs.
He shifts, allowing her access to his back and the gauze on his shoulder blade. Y/N pulls the tape off his skin as gently as she can, bracing one hand against him to help separate the glue from his tender skin. He’s warmer than usual and she doesn’t know if it’s from the wound or the fact that they’re currently in this situation together.
When the gauze is pulled off Y/N gasped slightly. Bucky’s gash was angry red, with dark wire looped through the broken seams of skin. The sutures had separated in a few spots with fresh crimson trickling down.
Y/N lets out a shaky breath, upset at the injuries Bucky sustained. “Are you in pain?” she asked, rinsing a washcloth under the faucet and wringing it out.
My heart is broken without you. “I’ll be fine. Should heal soon.”
Gently she blotted at his skin to clean the blood away, patting the area dry. On a cotton swab she puts on the antiseptic cream, dabbing it on the open wound from the broken sutures. Bucky turns his head to watch her search for something in the cabinet again, her eyes widening with relief as she spots what she needed.
Y/N handed him a roll of medical tape. “Do you mind?”
Opening the box, she unwrapped fresh gauze, holding it against his skin and Bucky tore off pieces for her as she secured it over his wound. A satisfied smile pulled at her lips when she was finished.
She leaned down to pick up the washcloth from the floor as Bucky swung around to face her, holding out the tape. Nerves bubbled up his throat as he opened his mouth to speak.
“I love…” he paused as she took the tape from his hands, electrifying tingles dancing on their skin as they touched. “...how much you care about me.”
It’s not exactly what Y/N wanted to hear but it’s close and she takes it as if Bucky recited the deepest words of love written by poets of long ago.
Time slowed as she set the items aside, her heart pounding in her ears to the silent beat of love. Bucky stood tall, his bare chest rising and falling with the same unspoken desire as he stared longingly at her.
With a step forward the space between them diminishes. Y/N’s breath hitches in her throat and she forces the lump down with a hard swallow. Lifting her gaze towards Bucky’s she sees the blue of his eyes withdrawing for dark pupils but this time they were different. Gone is the wanton wildfire, now his eyes simmer with soft longing.
Bucky smiled gently with the faintest muscles pulling on the corner of his lips. His nerves are buzzing as she grazes her fingers up his arms, goosebumps prickling his skin as she traced the curves of his muscular arms; smiling wider as she brushed over the grooves of his metal appendage until her arms were wrapped around his neck.
He’s mesmerized as Y/N’s tongue darts out to wet her lips because she can’t prevent what is going to happen, she doesn’t want to. Their faces are inches apart and Y/N feels Bucky’s hot breath falling on her. She grazed her nose along his skin, brushing her lips softly against Bucky’s. Tears flooded her eyes the moment he pressed his lips against hers as joy and relief washed over her like a tidal wave.
Kissing Y/N again was a dream come true, and Bucky sets aside his thoughts of the inevitable nightmare this would lead to. His arms wrap around her, bringing her as close to his heart that will always be hers.
Despite their time apart the kiss is soft and slow, with gentle whimpers falling from Y/N’s mouth as her lips mold perfectly to Bucky’s. The world faded away as they were reunited, their tongues meeting in a sensual dance, deepening the kiss they never want to end.
Bucky’s hands skimmed down her sides until he reached her thighs, grabbing them in surprise as he lifted her up. Their kiss broke momentarily as the air filled with Y/N’s laughter before she pressed her lips against his again craving more; insatiable for his kiss as if it was restoring her soul.
Navigating blindly towards her bedroom, Bucky gently laid Y/N on the bed and he draped himself beside her. Their lips exchange sweet kisses that grow deeper as their hands roam along bare skin. She smiles as she pulls him closer, gently rocking her hips against him.
Bucky feels the stir in his pants and he knows she can too, his hardening length ruts against her and as much as he wants to be buried inside her he pulls away. It’s a quick moment to drink her in, to see the dizzying effects of their passion in the gaze of her eyes.
Y/N looks at him like he’s the only thing that matters in the world and Bucky feels the sentiment deep in his soul. Her soft smile is everything, the light in her eyes that shine just for him. He’s enveloped by that sweet scent he calls home, a place he wants to visit again and never leave.
He pours his heart and soul into every heavenly movement as his lips pressed against hers again. Soft whimpers bubbled in her throat and as a moan fell from Bucky’s lips Y/N felt an ache in her core that longed to be sated in a way no one else but Bucky could make her.
It felt like time had never passed. Bucky unzipped her dress, delicately tossing it to the floor as he peeled the fabric from her skin. Cupping the smooth fabric of her bra before reaching around to unhook the clasp.
His hands are immediately on her breasts, gently squeezing the supple flesh as leans in closer. Bucky drags his tongue over her nipple, circling over each one back and forth. Her back arched as he nipped lightly, taking it into his warm mouth, sucking, licking, giving his attention to each breast.
Y/N felt the wetness soaking through her panties as he continued, gasping as he flicked his tongue over the pebbled bud, increasing her building ache with another swirl of his tongue.
Bucky knew he was driving her crazy, the scent of her arousal flooded his senses. There was a heady longing in her musk that made him want to pounce on her like a lion stalking its prey. But tonight things were different. The only thing on his mind is to draw out and savor every sensual moment together.
He trailed sweet kisses down her stomach, sucking gently against the inside of her thighs. Y/N squirmed as he teased her more with kisses that almost went where she wanted them most.
When Bucky finally grabbed the material of her panties she gasped, when his arms curled around her thighs she whimpered, and when he took his first taste of her she cried out, gripping the sheets as she ascended to the heavens.
Bucky took his time between her legs, to worship her like the goddess she is. His tongue works expertly to bring her to the edge, loving the way Y/N trembles around him. She cries out, burying her fingers in his hair, the scratchy feeling of her need to hold on to anything solidifies the tent in his pants but Bucky ignores it, moaning against her as she comes undone.
Over and over again he sends her body into a dizzying spell of bliss, riding waves of pleasure as his name falls from her lips. Their eyes lock and he hummed in content at the taste of her. Slowly her body relaxed, her legs still shaking as he climbed up her body.
Bucky’s lips capture hers again, the taste of her being passed between them as Bucky slipped his tongue deeper into Y/N’s mouth. Whimpers leave her lips as she breaks away for air, swallowing a hardened breath.
Y/N’s eyes speak volumes as she stares at him, with her hands accompanying the unspoken words as she traced them lightly down his back, along the top of his jeans until she reached the front.
Her hands rested on the button as she looked at Bucky, seeing the affirmative nod of his head. She popped the button, cupping his hardness as he kissed her again. It was a duel effort to get Bucky out of his jeans, shucking them to the side along with his boxers.
Shifting on the bed, she spread her legs wide enough for Bucky to slip between them. Holding himself above, his loving gaze is cast upon her and he can’t help but caress her face. His heart flutters at the true beauty of Y/N as she lies beneath him. His fingers caress the soft skin of her cheeks and Bucky leans down to take her lips once more, soft and sweet as he pushes inside of her.
The feeling is euphoric. Intense pleasure buzzing throughout their bodies as their hips met with a craving for more. Every thrust brought them higher on the crest of a wave of endless bliss.
A lewd moan spills from her lips, digging her fingers into his back as Bucky swiveled his hips, reaching deeper inside to the place inside her he knows well.
“Ohh fuck… yes… right there, so good,” she panted in hot breaths against him.
This is all he’s ever wanted, to make Y/N feel good, to make love to her every day and night, to love her.
She comes down from her high, crushing her lips to his as he continues his shallow thrusts. The stubble of his beard scrapes at her cheek but she doesn’t care. She needs him, now more than ever before.
Bucky was an addiction she tried to kick but the memory of him never faded, the way he made her feel, the way he felt inside her; she was changed from the moment their lips met and there was no turning back– not now, not ever.
Her hands roam down the muscles of his back and onto the swell of his ass, grabbing the flesh that flexes with each thrust into her. Bucky loves feeling her hands on him, guiding him as she lifts her hips to meet his, taking what she needs and he’ll give her everything.
The friction against her clit brings her to the edge, spurred on by Bucky’s words she comes; panting, cursing, his name on her lips as she tumbled towards ecstasy. His mouth is against hers again, swallowing the sweet moans she gives as she kisses him back.
She nudges him to lie on his back, savoring every moment as she slowly sinks down on him. Y/N is careful not to move too quickly, knowing his stitches are vulnerable as she moves above him.
Bucky’s hands caress her thighs, sliding up to her undulating hips. Every moment beating out the last in a bid for how beautiful she truly is; glowing like a celestial fire that burns for his love.
The muscles of his stomach tense as he sits up, wrapping his arms around her as she moves sensually on top of him. He kisses between her breasts, on any part of her skin his lips could meet until she slowed her pace. Her own arms wrapped around Bucky as their lips met, each of them smiling against one another.
They separated only when her lungs were burning for air but the kissing didn’t stop. Bucky kissed her neck as Y/N held him closer, resuming the motion of her hips. The press of his thumb against her clit made her twitch around him, crying out as she came.
Another kiss, stealing her breath that came out in heavy pants. Bucky moved Y/N on her side, getting behind her, lifting her thigh so he could enter her again. They move in tandem and he palms her breast that jiggles in his hand. His tongue traces the throbbing vein of her neck as his fingers tweak the peaked bud.
Y/N craned her head back to face him, slipping her tongue inside his mouth as he moved in and out of her wet heat. Bucky’s arm stretched across her waist, pulling her closer as he increased his pace. She bent her other arm, reaching out for his metal hand behind her, needing to feel as connected to Bucky as possible.
He feels her walls pulsing as he hits her sweet spots, moans bubbling in her throat and he knows she’s close. He grips her tighter as her walls clench around him in the most heavenly way.
It’s too much for him; Y/N is the only thing in the world that can turn Bucky into a crumbling mess. His body tenses as he thrusts, letting out a strangled cry as he releases himself inside her.
The aftermath of their lovemaking fills the air of her bedroom. Bucky’s head falls against hers, sticking against her equally sweat glistened skin. Y/N is still breathing heavy, her heart growing warmer as Bucky presses a kiss to her forehead.
For a while they laid together in silence, not wanting to face the real world when Bucky inevitably had to leave. It was easier to push the truth away for a few minutes longer, to smile tenderly at each other and block out the rest of the world.
Bucky brings her closer, rubbing circles on her back and feeling her skin prickle under his touch. Their hands intertwine again and Bucky presses another kiss on her forehead, his lips lingering on her warm skin. He hopes Y/N realizes how he feels about her, that he’s making up for things he left unsaid.
In the back of his mind Bucky knows he can’t ever say them because now things are complicated. More complicated than before when he couldn’t express his true emotions, because now there’s Steve.
He regrets having to leave Y/N but he needs to get back before anyone questions his whereabouts. His stomach sinks like an anchor as he sits at the edge of the bed, seeing the doleful expression on Y/N’s face.
Bucky searches for his clothes on her floor and Y/N gets out of bed. She can’t look at him, let alone herself. She opens a drawer to find something to wear. Silent tears slip down her face.
She is ruining a good thing. Steve doesn't deserve this. She knows that but as Bucky gets dressed behind her she realizes she can’t choose. She doesn’t want to.
She loves Steve and he loves her, he fills the part of her soul that’s been neglected for so long by Bucky. And though Bucky can’t reciprocate emotionally she can’t let him go. Y/N loves Bucky in a way she’s never felt before. An indescribable love that makes every part of her flutter when they’re together or not. Even if he can’t say the words, even if it’s not enough she still needs him. She needs both of them.
Bucky hates himself more than ever. If only Steve knew what he did… he wouldn’t call him a best friend. He hates that he can’t admit the truth to Y/N like he should have. Steve is a good man, the best man he’s ever known who loves unashamedly. Bucky knows Y/N deserves a man like Steve but as he looks at her tear filled eyes a bell of selfishness rings and knows he can’t let her go.
They hug for too long at the front of her door, rubbing her back as Y/N sobs against him. He isn’t afraid to hide the wetness in his own eyes. This isn’t easy for either of them but they know what has to be done.
The choice is simple, there is no choice. There is no Steve or Bucky.
It’s understood in their passionate kiss, the intensity that never falters. Sparks fly in their eyes just as they did when they first met, confirming that neither are letting each other go. It’s wrong but they won’t stop.
Bucky and Y/N are addicted to each other, to the way they feel together, high off the rush of chasing a love they'll never have. The secrecy continues because the truth would hurt everyone around them even if the cost is hurting themselves the most.

Okay, so I got my prescription about two weeks ago and since then I have already tried Ritalin a few times.
I started with half a pill (so 5mg) and didn’t feel anything. My doctor advised me to do my next attempt on the next day, but I am chronically bad at listening to medical professionals, so I tried a whole pill (or 10mg) on the afternoon of the same day I tried the first one.
I decided to take it, because our work had been cancelled (I currently work as a security at events which are hosted by our city) and so someone had to wait until the security who worked the night shift arrived. I really need the money, so I volunteered to sit around for a few hours and I decided to take the full pill and try reading for a bit, as thats something where I often struggle with being inattentive and getting distracted by just about everything.
And it kinda helped. I just sat down and read for over an hour without looking at my phone or getting distracted in any other way. I used to read a lot as a child, but since the age of 12-13 I slowly stopped reading as much because I could rarely ever focus on the book for longer times, so reading became a bit frustrating, as I now took days, weeks or sometimes even months to finish books which would have taken me hours when I was younger (one of my biggest achievements as a child was that I finished the whole HarryPotter-Series in just one weekend).
So yeah, that was a nice experience. I tried it again two days later, as I wanted to try studying for university, but this time I tried 1,5 pills (so 15mg) and I didn’t feel much difference to the 10mg. I still couldn’t quite focus on the stuff I had to learn and I kept getting distracted by things around me, especially by the clutter on my desk. I really felt the need to do something about that and so I cleaned my desk. And once my desk was finally free of everything that didn‘t belong there, I cleaned the floor, the kitchen, the bathroom, I did my laundry and I collected all the cat toys and also cleaned all the places my cats like to hang out in of their hair. Once that was done, I tried to learn again and I noticed that I could focus a bit better, but most importantly I noticed that I just managed to keep my focus on doing a cleaning of the whole flat without making any breaks to watch youtube or check twitter or anything. I didn’t even think about my phone, while I did all that. That was kinda crazy, as just about everyone who knows me would describe me as a perfect example of a smartphone-addicted person.
The next day, I tried to learn again and I took two whole pills (aka 20mg or the maximum dosis my doctor allowed me to do before I visit her again) and I noticed that while I could actually focus better, I would also focus very strongly on anything that distracted me. I found one of my cats toys (a self-made mouse) had been ripped and while I was already trying to focus on learning, I just had to get my sewing kit and repair the mouse before I could even think about anything else. So my focus became much better, but also I would focus very strongly on any possible distraction.
The next day my girlfriend arrived and so I didn‘t take Ritalin for a few days, as I know that she isnt too big of a fan of it (that one Netflix-documentary apparently made Ritalin seem like its pure crystal meth) and also I think I shouldn’t need stimulants to be able to focus on my girlfriend. I love her and I always try to give her my fullest attention, so I let the pills in my medicine-cabinet.
Once she was gone again (she has a summer-job in another state, so we only see each other for a few days each week), I tried studying again and so I took two pills in the morning, cleaned my whole learning environment before the effects kicked in and then I actually was able to focus nicely on cell-biology. And ya know, what can I say about that except „The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell“?
Later that day, when the effects already had worn off, I noticed that I also experienced the so-called rebound effect (=symptoms being a bit stronger than usual once the effects of the medication wore off), but as I wanted to continue studying, I decided to take two more pills. So I went to the bathroom, took one, noticed that I had to clean the cat-toilet, cleaned it, forgot that I had already taken one and took two. So I was at 3 whole pills or 30mg of Methylphenidate, which was 1,5 times the maximum dose my doctor told me to take. And then I remembered that I had made plans with a friend to come over and catch up, as we hadn’t seen each other since the whole pandemic started.
So yeah, once he arrived two hours after my accidental intake of 3 pills, I was really focused on what he said and I must say, I felt a mental clarity I usually never felt in normal situations. I also felt a bit more energetic than usual and I experienced the suppressed appetite (which apparently is a rather common side-effect) much stronger than I did with lower doses. Besides that my head felt very warm and I noticed that my pulse was much stronger, so I put on my old smart-watch, just so I could regularly check my pulse (it was constantly over 90, when my usual average it between 60 and 70). Also I told him about my medication and the dosage I had taken, so if I experienced anything bad (the high pulse made me a bit anxious about that) he could inform a doctor. But yeah, nothing bad happened and for two hours we just talked about a lot of things and I just really listened to what he said, which was nice, as I‘m someone who often gets lost in thought while people talk to me, and being able to focus on what he said without getting distracted made me feel like I managed to be a better friend than I‘m usually am.
But nothing lasts forever and so once the effects wore off (took about 4,5 hours) I really couldn’t focus on stuff and I really felt the effects come back much stronger than they usually are. Luckily he is a pretty understanding dude, so he suggested that we just cook until I felt a bit better, which was quite nice, as my appetite also came back and I remembered that I hadn’t eaten anything that day. So we cooked and just played with the cats until I felt a bit better. I noticed that playing with the cats made me quite a bit calmer - maybe it’s the dopamine-boost my tiny fluffy boys give me, or maybe I just overinterpret something. Idk.
(Short break. I know, this post is already pretty long and as it’s about ADHD, I assume that some people reading this also have it. If you managed to read this that far, I‘m really amazed and I really thank you for your attention. Also I made this another text-style, so if you want to take a short break, you could find this spot easier. If you have any tips on how to write so that it’s more suitable for ADHDers to read, please feel free to send me a message, as I would really like it, if I could improve my writing so that my posts are easier to read for other people. Also I promise that this post will be finished soon.)
Okay, so lets continue: once the friend was gone, I washed the dishes, cuddled the cats and went to sleep. Or at least I tried to do so. I just couldn’t fall asleep. It was really impossible for me to close my eyes without having my brain full of thoughts that would keep me awake. I tried to put in calming music, as that helped me to fall asleep back when I was in school, but that didn’t work. I tried to make myself a nice sleeping-environment by putting on nice sounds to pretend that I‘m on the Hogwarts express (I used ambient-mixer for that) and lit small fairy lights, but that also didn’t help. I tried to do a brain-dump and wrote down all the thoughts that kept me awake, but that also didn’t help much. I tried to read all these thoughts out to my cats and talk about all the feelings I had that were linked to the thoughts, but that also didn’t help. (Also the cats kinda decided to run around and play catch after I talked to them for a few minutes. I think they have about the same attention span as I do). At about 5:30 in the morning my girlfriend texted me because she just got up to go to work and I was still awake to answer her. So yeah, at about 6 in the morning I fell into a very light sleep and I can tell you, working a 7 hour shift after that wasn’t fun. So a nice advice of mine: don’t do a higher dose than your doctor allowed you at 6 in the afternoon. Or generally. Listen to your doctors, chances are they know what they are talking about.
And here’s finally the last experience I wanna write about: Today I woke up at 8 and decided that I will use my day productively to learn. So ensured that my desk and everything around it was nice and clean and then I took two pills. And guess what. Now it’s half past 10 and I spent the last 1,5 hours focusing really intensely on writing a tumblr-post about my experiences with Ritalin because I remembered that I wanted to write such a post and I couldn’t focus on anything else while I had this thought. So yeah. Overall I really like the effects it has on me, as I didn’t experience any bad side-effects by now and it really helps me focus, but now I also know that maybe I should make a check-list of things I want to have done before I take it, as these things could be mayor distractions down the line.
I hope these reports could be interesting or helpful to someone out there, but always remember: the experiences of different people can vary vastly, so always remember that such meds can have very different effects on you or people you know. Always consult a doctor or pharmacist if you have medical questions and always remember that taking meds or not doing so is both completely valid, as long as it fits for you.
If you made it this far, I really wanna thank you for taking the time and focus to read this and I hope you found it to be at least somewhat interesting. Feel free to text me if you want to talk about your own experiences, ask questions, give criticism on the way I write or just ask for pictures of my cats. I hope you have a really nice day and yeah. I‘ll post again once something post-worthy happens or a topic which I think to be deserving of a post comes to my mind.
