It’s really handy but a little ridiculous with the amount of stuff he carries in there.
The battery life is hammered thanks to the hours of temple run his siblings play on it whenever he goes home for holidays.

Most of the time, he tosses the phone at his nephew to keep him distracted when he sees him at home.

The phone’s got a small crack in the screen from when Cheka dropped it but it wasn’t a big deal so Leona never bothered to get it fixed or replaced.
He’s got a leopard print phone case and his wallpaper is a selfie Reggie took with him sleeping and set it on his lock screen that he never bothered to change.

He takes pretty good care of it and there’s no scratches or cracks.
His wallpaper matches the selfie of himself and Leona that he set as the latter’s lock screen.
He got himself a heavy-duty phone case just to make sure it doesn’t get damaged.

He’s an iPhone user, probably sporting an iPhone 12 Pro Max. You can’t blame him for needing a large phone when he’s got pretty big hands.
He uses a clear case that’s somehow got no yellowing to it and his phone is green. It’s got a pretty wrecked battery life thanks to the younger sibling x phone syndrome.
His little sister killed the battery life with her 500 cumulative hours on Roblox and Among Us.
He doesn’t really mind since he doesn’t use his phone more than like 4 times a day.

He sports a Samsung Z Flip5 in lavender. He also has a baby blue phone case with a little seashell on it.
The twins tease him about his cutesy design choice but he shrugs it off since he knows it looks good.
It’s a shame he rarely uses the phone when he’s not going to send emails, do schoolwork and post on the lounge’s social media, though.
He also watches food ASMR videos. His wallpaper is a picture of the sea in the usual daytime lighting.

His phone is in pretty good condition.
Though, he’s got a few spots of soil trapped between his screen protector and the end of his phone case.
There’s only like a single, tiny crack on his screen protector for dropping it on the floor face first when in the Botanical Garden talking to his little plants.
Can’t really blame him since he looks up tutorials when handling new spores. His phone case is transparent with (you guessed it) a pattern of little mushrooms littered on the back.
His wallpaper is a pic of him and Floyd when they were in their first year at NRC. It’s a strangely cute phone for someone as shady as Jade.

When he isn’t tormenting people with his deadly hugs, he’s sat perched in a corner gargoyle style with his eyes glazed over as he plays Block Blast with a score of 10,000.
Floyd’s pretty diverse with his phone case and he changes it depending on how he feels that day. Most of the time, he goes for his pale green one with an eel drawing on it, like the bag he used during the Camp Vargas event.
His wallpaper is either matching with Jade’s or a random photo of the sea he took a few days ago.

He’s just nice like that. His phone case is orange with little peach circles dotted all around the back.

Sometimes he stays up until 3 am playing COD mobile with Deuce and hides his phone under his pillow every time Vil opens his door to make sure the first years are asleep.

That way, they can prevent any accidents that creates their very own “Finding Sebek” franchise.

Bc my cheap but cute 5$ phone case is it’s on its last leg I went to buy an otter box bc idk where I put my old one. Anyway I had to look up what iPhone model I have bc they all look the fucking same these days. iPhone 13. Just as happy if I had the newest and before that I kept my 7 until it was too old to hold charge.
And if we had. A right to repair I probably could have just had the battery and maybe the port replaced.
My point being is there’s too many fancy new phone with very little difference, and we get screwed with planned obsolescence and Apple refusing to repair or make things easy to repair.

Just accidentally caused two local best buys to start beefing with each other :). Oops. Went to store 1 to replace my iphone 7 battery. Store 1 encounters a few issues (weird errors on my phone that they've never seen?). I've got four best buy guys crowded around my phone at this point. One of them works past it and says 'ok cool come back later!'.
I come back later. They couldn't find a battery for my phone that wasn't damaged, so one employee drove to the best buy half an hour away and tried to get one from them. They wouldn't give it to him. He comes back like 'sorry :( try going over there and see if they can help'. I go to best buy 2. Best buy 2 tries to call best buy 1 to clarify something about the appointment registry thing, best buy 1 isn't picking up, managers get involved on their own (I am just sitting here awkwardly at this point, which is what I've done for most of today). Apparently BB1 left some system appointment open on their end and now BB2 cannot help me because their system is frozen at 1's end or something like that.
Best buy 2 eventually gets the old shitty battery that I started with back in my phone and says that they'll call tomorrow once they get their system figured out. I have made net 0 progress, I'm back where I started, and now my local best buys hate each other but seem to like me well enough, despite my phone perhaps being a cursed artifact of some sort. Let it be known that everyone was nothing but helpful and kind to me, going above and beyond with refunds and such (I ended up spending no money despite taking their entire day for my cursed battery). That said, BB2 management and employees are now pissed at BB1 and my phone is still dying really quickly.
I might just buy a new phone soon.

Oh god, please don't do this.
Update your phone.
Maybe an argument can be made to wait a week or two just in case there are bugs in the new update, but updates are crucial to your phone's security. Updating apps is also part of that security. Unless it is an app that has no internet requirement, you need to keep them current. And if an app is no longer being supported or updated, you should probably move on to the next best thing. Even if that sucks sometimes.
And I hate to defend Apple all the time, but you cannot make current judgments based on the freakin' iPhone 4. Apple currently makes some of the longest lasting products on the market. Not only that, they support those products with software updates for pretty much their entire lifespan. Google and Samsung were being praised this year for promising 5 and 7 years of updates. Apple has been doing this for years now. They never put a number on it, but if a phone can run the software, they support it.
In fact, the big story about Apple slowing down phones is always presented as them wanting people to buy new phones, but in that case they were actually trying to extend the life of people's devices. If they hadn't throttled the CPU, the battery would have bricked a bunch of phones. Their error was not disclosing what they were doing. They got sued for that and rightly so. All people needed was a battery swap and they'd be back to full speed. It's ridiculous that Apple didn't just disclose that from the beginning.
Also, the days of phones getting too old to run new software are pretty much over. Moore's Law is slowing down and phones are incredibly powerful and anything within the last 5 years or so will probably last 7 to 10 years if you take care of it. Depending on your use, you might need a battery swap, but you should only need to replace your phone sooner if there are features you absolutely need in the new model.
Apple's big sin is not planned obsolescence but repairability. Their products are well made. They last a long time. And they tend to have fewer manufacturing defects than other brands. (In general. Your anecdotal experiences will vary.)
But... shit happens.
People drop things. They spill things. They abuse things. And when they break, you shouldn't have to get a whole new thing. Apple seems to have poorly trained diagnostic staff who commonly tell people their device cannot be repaired when the diagnosis is not apparent. Or they will misdiagnose something with a super expensive repair when it is actually a minor fix. (Which is why experienced repair shops exist and should be supported by Apple.) Apple has tried to micro-manage the repair process of their devices to such a degree that it has sparked an entire advocacy movement.
But don't let Google, Samsung, etc off the hook either. They suck too. If you are using Android thinking you have some moral high ground, they either do the same shit or they do slightly different shit that is just as bad.
Not to mention, Google is an advertising company. I don't understand people who are like, "Apple is evil, so I'm going to use this advertising platform instead." It's a lateral move, at best.
No good guys in capitalism, folks.
At minimum, repair shops should be able to use spare parts from broken devices to fix salvageable ones. And Apple is literally pairing screens and chips to one device so they can't be used to fix others. It's... diabolical.
So, update your phones.
Apple is bad at repairability but is good as far as planned obsolescence goes. Although when computers and phones eventually are able to last for 20 years, we'll see if that changes. For now, they make things that last until you fumble them into the toilet bowl and *that* is when they start to suck.
If you need a good villain to talk about planned obsolescence, I would go with Samsung appliances.

HUAWEI Watch Fit 3 - an Apple alternative?
I wanted to write a long term review about the HUAWEI Watch Fit 3. I have been using this device for 8 months and prior to that I had a Hauwei Band 9.
Both HUAWEI fitness trackers I have owned have had connectivity issues. But before I get onto that I will start with the positives.
HUAWEI fitness trackers are known for their accuracy. The devices do have fantastic longevity and heart rate accuracy that is comparable to wearing a chest strap.
There have been some mixed reviews on sleep tracking and it seems that this is potentially where the HUAWEI trackers fall short. I can’t say I have monitored the accuracy of this too closely.
Regarding calorie counting is there really an accurate measure? Every device has its variations my treadmill does provide a lower figure than the fitness tracker. Others have mentioned that it under calculates steps and calories but my steps have been very accurate.
It has a comprehensive amount of workouts, it has great accuracy and the battery is out of this world. You can get anywhere between 7-10 days out of it and it charges very quickly.
It does lack some features such as Apple Pay or Google Pay and is more of a fitness tracker with basic smartwatch features.
As it is HUAWEI accessories and replacements straps are not readily available.
The HUAWEI health app is easy to use and very comprehensive. However, it is not available on the Google Play store. It is available on the Apple App Store, Samsungs own App Store same with Xiaomi and Honor.
This is an issue for Pixel users as the Play store is the only App Store available on Pixel. There are work arounds to get the app on Pixel but it often fails to connect and if it does connect the app doesn’t sync well.
I was able to download HUAWEI health from the Samsung App Store. It was easy enough to set up but I did have to reach out to HUAWEI as the watch didn’t automatically reconnect to the phone and it kept disconnecting.
I had the best experience using it with my Honor phone which ironically were owned by HUAWEI. The integration was very good.
I am now using it with an iPhone. Despite the fact the app is available in the App Store I have noticed some restrictions using it with iOS. Firstly, I am unable to individually select which apps I want to receive notifications on my watch from. It’s all or nothing which is frustrating as I don’t need my wrist buzzing with news headlines.
You are unable to download any additional apps but even when you can do this your options are limited anyway.
90% of the time you are unable to control music from the watch and the stats don’t integrate with Apples own fitness apps.
You also have to leave the HUAWEI health app open or you won’t receive notifications or alerts and the watch can disconnect.
If you get an alert on the app about your sleep or exercise etc this does interfere with notifications again and you have to open the app sync it and then it works.
I have never owned an Apple Watch so I can’t compare. However, if you are an iPhone user I would suggest that the Apple Watch will have better integration and better features.
I would avoid this watch if you are a Pixel user.
There is an argument that Apple trap you into an ecosystem but Google and Samsung all have their own smartwatches and ear buds etc that are all designed to work seamlessly together. For the best experience all your devices should be the same brand regardless of what that brand is.
I do like the HUAWEI Watch Fit 3 but not I am an iPhone user with no intention of switching back to Android I will be saving up for an Apple Watch.
Downside of Apple Watches? Battery life, price and not compatible with Android.

I just want to add this is nothing new happening in the Congo. I learned about the children dying in mines and how no one internationally is stopping the genocide because we "need" the resources they are mining when I was in grad school in 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣5️⃣. This has been a problem for a decade. I have been taking any chance I had to talk about this for years (genuinely 100% not looking for applause or recognition when I make that statement), but I like how she breaks it down and she does not need me to reiterate anything she said.
Here's what I can say from personal experience:
I have a 7 year old Samsung phone that works perfectly fine, runs all the apps I need it to, and just has some battery problems. I am probably going to have to replace it this year because of the battery, but that's 7 years of use. Note: I am a klutz, I drop this thing regularly, I have the cheapest otterbox case on it, and it hasn't broken and the screen has never cracked.
Samsung sells refurbished phones for like $300 through their website. Get that instead of the iPhone please. It will last longer.
I had a laptop that I used for like 8+ years with a battery that would not hold charge and had to stay plugged into the wall to run. I still played sims and posted.
My tablets almost 10 years old.
None of that has ever hampered my quality of life. You don't need the upgrade. Save your money for something you need or to travel or whatever else you could be doing with it beside dropping $1000.
