Is it every too late to start an annual reading challenge. This wonderful 52BookClub challenge has some standard and intriguing prompts. And all the prompts are free to interpretation. For instance, I am going to cheat and repeat the books for some prompts. And if I actually make it to 52 books, I am sure I can find something that fits each category.
On week 26 I have done 10 prompts (with 9 books!).

She can’t keep him from his physical therapy—he truly does need it. But she doesn’t want to sleep alone and wants even less to get up and face the cold day. All she wants is to share some warmth with her husband.
…Well, the bedrock of marriage is compromise, after all.
“I have a counter-proposal,” she announces, sitting up. Goose pimples break out on her exposed arms immediately, and she draws the covers close. “If I accompany you to your physical therapy, may I afterwards drag you back here and have my way with you?”
He pauses ever-so-briefly in the act of strapping on his knee brace, then grins. “Well, it’ll be tough, but…I think I could stand that.”

I had some fun with some pictures I took yesterday. I layered a picture of rippling pond water over a picture of flowers for a distorted look. It was a lot of fun doing something outside of my wheelhouse and being creative. #52weekorganizedhomechallenge #52weeks #distortion #challenger #instagood #instagram #insta #art #photooftheday #photo #artwork (at Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/B14dFlLg3Wl/?igshid=b8hfazo8ngjt

Week one: October 1st - October 7th 2017 Self - Portrait For anyone who knows me, I hate having my photos taken. I use to take photos of myself all the time when I was younger, but I outgrow it. I think it had to do with the crazy amount of weight gain. Alongside with the photography challenge, I am hoping to be a bit more active... at least one day a week (have to start with small realistic goals). Either way, I found a few lists on the interwebs, and the first challenge is a self-portrait. YIKES! I had to use my phone to distract myself because it was terrifying! Until next week

The Unwanted Crown
For Prompt 26 of the Tale Teller’s 52-Week Challenge:
“Fear is a four letter word that I refuse to cower to.”
this little scene immediately popped into my head. Those of you that have been reading my stuff for awhile know how much I enjoy reversing standard tropes...
52Week Challenge MasterList
The Warrior and The King MasterList
******************************************
“Penny for your thoughts?”
Kaylea Wolf gave him a puzzled look. “What did you say?”
Thorin Oakenshield smiled at her. “It is an old expression. What are you thinking about?”
“Ah!” Kaylea said, but she did not answer. They were walking hand in hand along the gallery that overlooked the Hall of Kings. It was late, the city was quiet around them as they walked out towards the gate, taking the long way back to Thorin’s quarters. Tonight had been the last rehearsal and formal dinner before Kaylea’s coronation as Queen of Erebor, after the crowded dining hall and so many hours of keeping up appearances it was nice to enjoy a quiet moment together. Thorin studied her closely as they walked, he could tell something was troubling her. He felt a little stab of anxiety start to rise in his chest.
“Not having second thoughts, I hope,” he said lightly, watching for her reaction.
Kaylea opened her mouth to speak, then smiled and shook her head. She squeezed his hand as they stepped out onto the rampart over the gates of Erebor.
“Please tell me what it is, my love!” Thorin moved in front of her, taking her other hand in his. His eyes searched her face, looking for any clue.
“Not second thoughts,” Kaylea said slowly. “But becoming your queen does scare me.”
Thorin could not stop himself from laughing. “You? Afraid? I have seen you face armies of goblins, ranks of armored cave trolls and even Ringwraiths with a smile on your face. How can you be afraid of a crown?”
Kaylea smiled at him, shaking her head. “That is different. I have trained to face death all my life, I do not fear it. I know any day could be my last.” She looked past him, at the moonlit vale that stretched out from the slopes of the mountain. “I have not trained to be a queen, I worry that I will disappoint you.”
Thorin brought her hands together in his. “You cannot disappoint me. You could never do that.”
“You say that because it is so easy for you,” Kaylea said. “You were born a king, you have been one all your life, for you it is as natural as breathing. This is not a part I ever expected to play.”
Thorin looked down at her hands in his, the rings he had made for her, the jewels on her dress sparkling in the light from the braziers. “Please do not say fear will keep you from becoming my queen.”
“Fear is a four-letter word that I refuse to cower to,” Kaylea said simply. “I am afraid, but I will go forward and conquer it, as I have trained to do.”
Thorin smiled widely. “There is my warrior queen, I was wondering where she had gone!” He kissed her hands, breathing a little sigh of relief. All he had wanted from the day he met her was to make Kaylea Wolf his queen, now that the time was at hand he was not about to let her change her mind. She had told him many times she was not destined to be a queen. Thorin had always thought it was because she would rather be commanding armies, it had never occurred to him she felt herself unfit.
Kaylea smiled softly at him, she brought her hand up to the side of his face. “I still cannot believe I let you talk me into this.”
Thorin put his hand over hers, smiling at her mischievously. “You know I can be very persuasive.” He chuckled. “It still took me nearly eighty years, you are almost as stubborn as a Dwarf!”
“That is high praise indeed!” Kaylea took his hand and resumed walking along the top of the gate. It was a pleasant late summer night, just a hint of chill in the air, the moon nearly full. The guards they encountered bowed low as they passed, a few of them offering congratulations. Thorin acknowledged them politely with a nod, he did very much enjoy walking around his city with the prettiest woman in Middle Earth on his arm. They turned away from the night, into the torchlit corridors that would lead to Thorin’s apartments.
“You will tell me if there is anything I can do to make this easier for you,” Thorin said quietly, pulling her close. “You are about to make me the happiest Dwarf that ever lived, I hate to think it gives you no joy.”
Kaylea stopped, turning to face him. “I did not say that. It makes me happy to see you happy, and I have long promised we will one day live together as man and wife. I have known the price is to play a role I never wanted, but I am happy to pay it.”
“Try not to sound so excited on my account!” Thorin frowned. “I do not know why I had to fall in love with a woman who has no interest in title or position, who cares nothing for riches or jewelry, whose closet contains only seven sets of the same pair of clothes and a frankly astonishing number of knives.” He sighed.
Kaylea leaned forward and kissed him. “I love you body and soul, my king. Believe me when I say I am happy to be your queen, though it does scare me a little.” She smiled widely at him. “As for the rest…well, they say opposites attract.”
Thorin laughed. “Is that what they say?” He stroked her hair, his fingers lingering on the jeweled beads. “Do they also say opposites can be happy together?”
“They will be blissfully happy,” Kaylea answered. Thorin slid his hand behind her head and brought her mouth down to his, kissing her deeply and passionately, a promise of many happy years to come.

Reading, Writing, or Living? #MFRW
This past week, I think my answer would have to be – *drum roll*
LIVING.
I admire my friend Vicki’s work ethic. She is diligent to get her writing time in every day. EVERY SINGLE DAY. I don’t. My goal is to write for an hour five days a week and spend my weekends with family and taking care of those domestic things. It is treating writing like a business, a business that I work five days a…

Father.
She hated goodbyes, always have avoided them, when she didn’t feel comfortable, she just left, vanished into thin air, she mastered the art of being just ‘not there’, she did it to all the friends she abandoned, all the lovers she left, without thinking of how they felt, or if it hurts people when she does that.
She thought it is a quick fix, let’s go, let’s run away, let’s just go and never come back, maybe it came from being hesitated and not knowing if she should leave or stay so she just left, maybe she loved them too much to stay and continue, maybe. She actually doesn’t know.
Even when it came to death, she ran away, she never visited her grandfather whose was dying for weeks in the hospital and she avoided even talking to her dying grandmother, that’s all she was, a runner, a coward and a terrified person.
Why did she do that? Why? She never knew but the part of her that understands goodbyes wasn’t there at all, she didn’t do them, she just ran.
But -as always in those kind of stories- something happened, something that changed her, her life and her perspective forever, something that opened up the empathy in her heart, something that really opened up her eyes.
Her father died, un expectedly, the last time she talked to him was 3 days before his death, she never had the chance to say goodbye, she never appreciated having him, she always has seen him as the monster who tried to take away her freedom and self-stem, that was her father, who he is for her, maybe in the last couple of years that got better, but not good enough for a man like him.
Her father died and luckily, she had the chance to say goodbye to his body and kiss his forehead, in his funeral they asked her if she wanted to see him, kiss him and say goodbye, she didn’t think for a second, at all, she just went and did it.
You would think that kissing a dead body is a weird thing, but not at all, when it is your amazing dead father, the amazing man who was always there for you even when you was that obnoxious teenager who thought she ruled the world, but she didn’t know that while she ruled the world he was the one who made her crown and throne, he is the one who carried her through all of her life and gave her the best life ever, he was the one who did it all and she was the one who was foolish and stupid and didn’t see or appreciate and wasn’t grateful at all.
She was the one who always told her friends how much a monster her id for trying to rape her freedom out of her, but he was only protecting her as any other good father would do.
Now, she is a parent, she is a grown up, and when she remembers her each time she cries, each time she needs money or feel in any kind of a need, she remembers the only man who could make her feel better, give her money and feed her.
The loss of her father taught her many lessons, the most important one of them is to appreciate the people you love, call them, make them know, always talk to them as if you are saying goodbye to them, as if It is the last time, as if you will never talk again, as if one of you will die tomorrow.
And the people who you want to leave, be strong, leave with dignity, leave with pride, be a grown up and talk to them, tell them what is happening and tell them why it is happening, respect them because one day they were the closest to you, they listened to you, they loved you and you loved them, so respect the memory, respect the history and respect the love.
It’s the art of leaving, the art of saying goodbye, don’t ever get so close and then vanish, don’t ever do that to people, you will be the reason they feel not respected and unappreciated forever.
Don’t ever be the reason of someone feeling like that, be humble, have empathy, and say goodbye.
