This is my last "Postcard to Mum" and the last segment of the #tagroulettehannemade challenge by @hannemadebyanne The tags this month were: 21. Bullion edge (bottom of large tag) 42. The joy of hand stitching

In January, I started doing an Instagram-based challenge, #52tagshannemade, started by Anne Brooke. Each week, she posts a video to YouTube with that week’s theme. The themes have alternated between particular stitches, such as pistil or bullion, or concepts, such as wrapping or hidden treasure.

I haven’t always kept up; sometimes the theme doesn’t resonate with me. Some themes I enjoyed so much, I completed two tags. The tags are roughly 2 inch x 3 inch, although some weeks I made larger tags to tackle more complex compositions. Below are 9 of my favorites.

Week 43 of #52tagshannemade challenge by @hannemadebyanne and this week's prompt was blanket stitch with a fringe. I didn't use the reverse side of my fabric as it was too dark and I liked the leaf design. I put my row of blanket stitch on the branch of the fabric design so the slant is intentional. Having a project like the #52tagshannemade to work on has become such an enjoyable habit this year. Each week, on Friday, we get a prompt and demonstration from Anne for the next week’s challenge. Hi Everyone👋, I am taking part in the #septtextilelove Instagram challenge arranged by @seam_collective I am Zoe, the Zo of Zo, Knit & Sew and I make a variety of hand knitted & sewn items, mostly baby clothes but also gifts made from offcuts and fabrics no one else wants. Not much goes to waste as it is all used on patchwork. I sell mostly at craft fairs on the Devon & Cornwall border as I live on the beautiful Rame Peninsula and I also have shops on Etsy & Folksy. This month's prompts for the #tagroulettehannemade challenge by @hannemadebyanne are: 31. Bit of Bling 35. 3 Buttons 10. Suffolk Puffs If you don't know me, I lost my Mum in December, she had stage 4 cancer and Dementia and living in a care home. During lockdown because I couldn't visit (pre cancer diagnosis) and her dementia meant it was difficult talking on the phone I sent her weekly postcards to keep in touch. So my monthly challenge takes the form of a postcard and each one dedicated to Mum. I am also using her handkerchiefs as the background for each one and I have this month used some toppers from some hand made cards she had been given. I can't claim credit for the beautiful sewn rose which has gold thread but it came from a card her sister (My Auntie Elizabeth @lucewinder ) gave her for her 50th Wedding Anniversary. The heart is a 'bit of Bling' taken from another card, and the Suffolk puffs speak for themselves decorated with 3 vintage buttons. Happy Easter Mum! Tag 52 of the #52tagshannemadechallenge the prompt this week was 'Macrame Xmas Tree' and here is mine! As this year has 53 Fridays there may be a last tag next week for New Years Eve so watch this space!
