the 4th wall
[ID: a digital drawing of shuichi saihara and tsumugi shirogane from danganronpa v3: killing harmony. shuichi is stepping out of a black box, onto a bright green background. he is holding the side of the box and has a confused, slightly horrified expression on his face. to the right of him, tsumugi is bowing and gesturing to him. there are red curtains to either side of them, and a bright red "applause" sign above them. below them are a series of bright blue hands, clapping. END ID/]

Some of my ideas for how Fae are represented in this system :p
Fae are creatures who walk between worlds. They are aware of the ink lining pages and glue holding it all together. They are cursed with knowing and seeing but can only alter the book so much. Fae are born when the ink blotches or the page tears. They are created by the mistakes of Angels, Demons, and Devils during the act of creation. A mockery of the creators, Fae look their creators in the eyes and dance all over the page. They are trapped within the confines of the story and are forced to watch as it is written but that doesn’t mean they are helpless victims. Much of the Fae’s mischievous and otherworldly reputation comes from their knowledge of the medium. They can predict tropes and guide the story into or out of their proper conclusion. Fae are the representation of how stories come to life and the author doesn’t always have control of where it goes.
This is a peak at some design elements of my TTRGP Tales from the Aether. This is not dnd. If you think some of these ideas are interesting, check out my Masterpost linked here and follow for more updates :D

@jofflock asked a good question about the transcript! So I've emailed John to find out the answer. We shall see if I get a response and, if so, what it says.

It Looks Like Zach Realizes He Just Broke The 4th Wall…

Like he know both the audience and Wild Kratts are watching him, and he’s embarrassed/ wants to get out of the way.

i don't know how to put this, and i'm sure the headache isn't helping, but there's something about phrases like "i'm brilliant/eloquent/patient like that" or "being the dumb one is usually my job" or "the reason i said __ was because __" being used ad nauseum in wottg that's really getting to me.
it's partially the exessive fourth-wall-facing narration that pulls me out of the narrative far too frequently. but also it just feels almost.. immature? if you have to keep reminding the reader why the narrator is saying something, or that they have this trait or the other and that's why they acted the way they did.. i'm inclined to believe either (a) you aren't trusting your characters enough to convey such meaning themselves, or (b) the act or dialogue in question was ooc for them and only feels natual if you make it part of a joke.
and when i say this specific brand of narration is on like every other page of this book.. it just feels sometimes these characters are reading from scripts that were forced on them after having been shut out of the writers room idk

got a few questions for grandadster (and MOE gaster if he isnt busy being a creep)
do you guys have any followers?
what's its like in the silent eternal nothingness that is the void
do you ever talk to anyone besides your respective errors or genos? maybe a jester or the occasional salesmen?
do you still have desire to leave the void after all this time?
favorite egg dish?

okay honestly. and i promise i will stop thinking about the deeply mediocre film argylle after this. but people have been talking about how confusing and how meta it is. but it isn't even that weird or meta????? like grow up! watch weirder movies
#like it's a movie where the plot deeply doesn't matter and you forget instantly upon leaving the theater which makes it kind of hard to des#cribe but that's not because it's overly complicated or meta or 4th wall breaking? like. and sorry to spoil argylle. lol.#woman is spy and steals incriminating information. woman is conflicted and plays both sides of conflict. woman hides information and then#gets captured. woman gets brainwashed into forgetting she's a spy and thinking she's a spy novelist. woman writes novels with memories of h#her past life which the spy agency hopes will reveal where she (spy) hid the info. action movie shenanigans happen. henry cavill is there.#like. there was a lot of eye contact with the camera in the first 15 minutes of the movie so i thought maybe they were going to directly#address the audience at some point but that never happened. and it never broke the 4th wall or really got meta at all??#henry cavill shows up at the end which maybe implies that there is also a guy in the world who is also agent argylle (and is not just her r#repressed memories but could also just be a fun easter egg to end the movie. and there's a midcredits scene (ben daniels) that ties it into#the kingsmen universe. but that's it!#you people would hurl if you saw the meta shit i was into#anyways again. this is the anyone has ever thought about the movie argylle. a movie i think i liked more than most people but is deeply mid#isabel.txt#sorry i saw the shakespeare fourth wall post and started thinking about this again.
