Bracket G Round 1
Poll 13
Mirage (@theshrimpgod) vs. Eris Caroll & Mendacium (@kalopseance)
409. Mirage (@theshrimpgod)
any pronouns, but mostly he/they/it
This man can fit so much trauma inside him
Has never gotten a good night's sleep in his life
He just like. never sleeps.
He's so sleep deprived he forgets who he is or where he is or what's even going on
He even forgets what he looks like! which means he also can have Alternate Designs which is always fun! also, alternate names bc he forgets that too and sometimes remembers it wrong
I designed him based on the song Dr. Sunshine is Dead which is a *great* song so there's that!
spiraly pupils. you get it
A green dragon with yellow spiral eyes and yellow and orange spots along his body! He has a red frill down his back and curly horns. His wings are red, yellow and orange in a sort of gradiantish pattern? I don't know how to explain it well
410. Eris Caroll & Mendacium (@kalopseance)
she/her for Eris, any pronouns but mainly he/him for Mendacium
the weird dynamic of a protagonist and her narrator.
Eris Caroll is a 17 year old girl from a small village in England. Living in a bubble of isolation, disconnected from the world around her. The people she passes by and sees in her class every day feel like unfamiliar blurs as opposed to real people - frightening figures who only pose a threat. Terrified of emotional closeness, Eris Caroll closes off her heart.
This year, she will turn 18. Her loneliness grows more and more as she watches the people around her live on normally, growing up and becoming responsible adults. Thinking that the world is too scary and foreign for her to ever live in as an adult, Eris Caroll jumps from a bridge.
She awakes in a coffin of flowers. A voice echoes.
– 'Welcome, beloved protagonist.'
Mendacium is the deity and creator of the realm called Wonderland. Although several other entities reside here, they are all seemingly - to some degree, at least - under Mendacium's control or were created by him. The world, though beautiful and whimsical, is devoid of life except from that of illusions and puppets. Mendacium is a very whimsical and odd person, speaking in poetic ways and somehow being both very mature and sophisticated yet childish.
Eris mets Mendacium, and he reveals that he is the God of Death. When Eris asks if she is dead, Mendacium smiles and shakes his head.
'Why would you throw away a life so full of love, my dear?"
Contrasting Eris's fear of love and closeness, Mendacium has a disturbing deep obsession with the concept of love through an abstract lens. Completely unable to relate to it, Mendacium finds love to be a deeply confusing concept, one only understandable by mortals. Mortals blame death for taking their loved ones away, mourn their own love, survive through the hardest circumstances for love yet give up their lives when they lose love. Unable to understand the depth of the human heart, Mendacium observes the ways in which mortals refer to 'love' and surmises that love must be the primary motive to live, a need simply as necessary as food or air.
'I cannot allow you to throw away a life brimming with such love."
Much to Eris's confusion, Mendacium refuses to let her die, insisting that it is a waste to throw away a precious life with such love. Through his own desire to vicariously understand the human experience, Mendacium pushes Eris forward to fulfill the role of 'protagonist' in his tale. His pre-written story of growth, a stage where the actors take their roles in a tale of a young girl, too scared of intimacy to reach out to anyone, and her journey to learn how to make friends and find happiness. As Eris continues on through this path he has set for her, she unravels the mysteries behind the true nature and purpose of this Wonderland, and grows to understand more about its supposedly-soulless residents and its enigmnatic creator.
why you should vote for them:
- weirdass found family dynamic. grim reaper and his gay mean adopted daughter. eris calls him 'old man' - unreliable narrator and his angry disgruntled protagonist sick of all his metaphors and symbolism - check out their spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5L1T7MlWZB3rYxOX9yIKAw?si=e0d1a0e07f7242df - they're both utterly unable to understand why each other is unsatisfied with their existence. both eris and mendacium see each other as having something utterly unnatainable, a life that lacks the causes of pain for both of them. theyre both selfishly fascinated by the other's dissatisfaction - they're each others imaginary friends - simultaenously the most emotional heartwrenching dynamic but also the funniest one ever - imagine instead of getting therapy you get a weird insane author to try fix whatevers wrong with you by inserting you into his fiction But hes also the grim reaper - this: https://f2.toyhou.se/file/f2-toyhou-se/images/43590443_umX36h4qaITGqfF.png
Eris is a short pale girl with very light blonde hair in two low pigtails. She wears a light blue hat with symbols of flowers on it. Her pigtails are tied with two dark blue bows. She wears a cropped light blue jacket and a white shirt with a symbol of a pink heart on it. She wears pink trousers and blue shoes. She has grey eyes, and very subtle freckles.
Mendacium is a very tall androgynous figure. He has long flowing white hair, the bangs of which cover empty eye sockets. Over his cheeks and nose is a rainbow-coloured gradient blush. He wears a top hat with black and white vertical stripes. He also wears a grey bowtie and tall grey high-heel boots. He wears a shirt with vertical black and white stripes underneath a large black overcoat which has several moving and blinking eyes along the bottom edges. He wears black trousers, and a long flowing cape; the outside of the cape is black, while the inner side is a rainbow pattern resembling a colourful galaxy. He has skeleton hands.

Wizard tubby
Role: Attacker
Passive Ability:Synchronize
Each time Wizard tubby uses a move, Wizard tubby and nearby allies have their movement speed increased by 15% for 2s.
Passive Ability:Move Reset
When Wizard tubby reaches level 5, the Move Reset icon can be used to reset Wizard tubbys moves and learn new moves. This ability goes on a 25s cooldown after it's used. Each time Mew knocks out or makes an assist on an enemy player, or scores a goal, the Move Reset cooldown is reduced (Knockout: 40%, Assist: 20%, Goal: 5%). Using Move Reset adds 5000 Unite Move energy to Mystical Mirage.
Attack
Auto attack
Each time Wizard tubby uses a move, they gain a boost counter. A maximum of 3 boost counters can be stored. After 3 counters are stored (they have to be consumed within 8s or they disappear), wizard tubby's next basic attack becomes a boosted attack that consumes all counters and launches a ball of psychic energy at an enemy. During the lock-on animation Mew can use moves. The further the ball travels, the more damage it deals (4% more damage per threshold, stacking additively). This ball pierces through newborns, but will stop traveling upon contact with the first enemy player.
Damage - Basic:
100% Atk + 0 x (Level - 1) + 0
Damage - Boosted:
160% SpA + 8 x (Level - 1) + 280
------------------------------------
Move 1
Option one
Icicle Spear:
5.00s | Sure hit
Wizard tubby launches all of its stored ice crystals in rapid succession at the designated enemy. If Glaceon has no ice crystals when this move is used, 2 ice crystals are instantly created and are launched. Launched ice crystals can hit enemies on the opposing team that are not the designated target of this move. The crystals shatter when they hit any enemy, dealing damage to all enemies in the area. Ice crystals launched by this move deal 5% increased damage each time they hit the same enemy (capped at 35%). When this move is used, Ice Shard's cooldown is reduced by 2s and Freeze Dry's cooldown is reduced by 2.5s. A maximum of 12 ice crystals may be launched.
Damage - per Ice Crystal:
34% SpA + 4 x (Level - 1) + 90
Option two
Psyshock:
11.00s | area
Wizard tubby channels three attacks at the targeted area; damaging enemies. Gardevoir's moves' cooldowns are reduced by 15% each time Psyshock hits an enemy.
Damage:
85.5% SpA + 10 x (Level - 1) + 409
Option three
Solar Blade:
8.00s | Ranged
Start gathering light and filling a blade with the light's energy. If this move is used again after light has been gathered, Leafeon brings the blade down in the designated direction, dealing damage to the enemy it hits. The longer the blade is filled with light energy, the more damage is dealt. If this move is used when the Chlorophyll gauge is full, the blade is brought down immediately, dealing maximum damage and the cooldown for the next use of this move is reduced by 50%. The cooldown of this move is also reduced by 50% upon the Chlorophyll gauge being filled.
Damage (1st Level Charge):
200% Atk + 14 x (Level - 1) + 550
Damage (2nd Level Charge):
240% Atk + 17 x (Level - 1) + 660
Damage (3rd Level Charge):
280% Atk + 20 x (Level - 1) + 770
Damage (Max Charge):
320% Atk + 22 x (Level - 1) + 880
------------------------------------
Move 2
Option one
Play Rough:
9.00s | Dash
Leaps in the designated direction stopping at the first enemy hit. The enemy hit is dealt damage and is stunned for 0.7s. Wizard tubby lands near that enemy it hits and deals damage to nearby enemy stunning them as well. If Play Rough connects, Wizard tubby receives 25% reduced damage from the enemies hit for 3s after landing. When this move is boosted with Aeos energy, Wizard tubby leaps further and through all Enemies hit along the leap’s path. Enemy hit will receive damage and be left stunned for the same amount as the base
Damage:
146% Atk + 9 x (Level - 1) + 240
Damage (Boosted):
189.8% Atk + 12 x (Level - 1) + 312
Option two
Calm Mind:
10.00s | Buff
Wizard tubby quietly focuses their mind and calms their spirit, increasing movement speed, Sp. Attack by 40% and Sp. Defense by 10% for 3s.
Level 12
For up to 3s after using Calm Mind+ Wizard tubby can block one move (auto attacks will not be blocked), negating the first instance of damage and granting a shield for 3s. Hinderances and status effects will still be applied.
Shield:
90% SpA + 0 x (Level - 1) + 100
Option three
Mean Look:
9.00s | Hindrance
Pins an enemy with a dark, arresting look, slowing them by 30% for 2s. After a 0.5s delay, the enemy is surrounded by a black zone they cannot leave for 3s. While inside the black zone, Umbreon’s basic attacks become boosted and deal increased damage. The black zone is removed if the target enemy is knocked out.
Mean Look is cleansable if the cleanse is used when the laser connects and before the area appears on the ground.
Damage (Boosted):
196% Atk + 5 x (Level - 1) + 180
------------------------------------
Moonlight Prance:
Unite Move
112s | Debuff
Unlocks at level 8
Wizard tubby briefly becomes unstoppable, leaping up and absorbing the shields of enemies in the area around Umbreon, taking them for the user. Wizard tubby then lands, dealing damage to enemies in an area-of-effect, and stuns them for 1s. For 5s, enemy Pokémon in the area around Umbreon are slowed by 30%, and if an enemy in that area is granted a shield, wizard tubby absorbs 50% of the shield for themself. Additionally, after learning this move and while not in combat, wizard tubby continually recovers 1% Max HP every second.
Damage:
224% Atk + 13 x (Level - 1) + 630

Lost in Space 14
Hello, Isolans! We have conducted an activity check for the month of October!
If your character isn’t on this list, make sure to check this page to see how many stars that character has earned this month! Stars can be used for purchases at the marketplace.
The blogs that were removed from the Isola Radiale masterlist are under the cut. Note that both blogs with broken links and deactivated accounts will be included both at the top of this list and in their proper categories.
If you were removed in error, please simply send a re-application message. Several different people work on the activity checks, so it’s possible there are mistakes! If this happens to you, you will be able to keep everything you previously had, you just may be placed in a different residence.
Our general activity rules regarding checks are as follows:
Make at least three in-character posts during a calendar month (for instance, if the activity check is for January, have three in-character posts between the 1st and 31st of January).
Only one drabble and/or meme response of 300+ words counts as activity.
One-liners or minis not tagged #isola mini also do not count.
Please Note: If you are removed during two consecutive activity checks, you will not be allowed to re-apply as that character for two calendar months.
Additionally, anyone removed during the activity check will have a 12-hour window from the time of posting to re-claim their character. Any character not reclaimed during that period will be open to the community at large.
Please send in your reapplications from the account of the character that was removed.

Questioning feminism in academia
I wanted to create this blog, to document and trace the struggles and successes, the challenges and newnesses of being/trying to be a feminist activist (especially in light of this pandemic).
This is a moment in history when we need to carefully think about human proximity and the alternatives to work collectively. This is reflected in many ways but especially in the methods that we approach as activists in the academic context.
I find it hard to describe how the relations of sharing knowledge seem at times a mirage and utopian goal. Especially in academia, where individualistic efforts of competing among peers create tensions and misunderstandings. I am a bit surprised by the narratives and actions of feminist scholars who are dismissive of their fellow women of colour researchers. I am aware that these discriminatory challenges are more likely experienced by fellow POC and manifested in subtle microaggressions in the everyday life, sadly the university is not an exception.
It is a scary and ugly reminder that as feminists, we still united under gender struggles but very far away from the practice of intersectional thinking. Perhaps because the academic work comes with hyper individualist practices, experienced in the lonely research of archiving, counting, proving, and assessing, all under your own fierce.
I didn’t find these “knowledge gatekeepers” and/or “territorial knowledge” phenomena in the grassroots initiatives, that I had been working with or while teaching/collaborating in non-profit organizations. Perhaps because when you present yourself as an activist, you are not working under the academic intention or authority that carries (the exploitative ghost) of damage-centred research.
To me, this was a new term coined by scholar and activist Eve Tuck mentions in her essay, Suspending Damage: A Letter to the Communities. This resonated with my experience as a teaching artist, listening to the opinion of communities who are skeptical of the research-oriented work, a methodology that I want to be far away from:
“Although, as I have noted, damage-centred research involves social and historical contexts at the outset, the significance of these contexts is regularly submerged. Without the context of racism and colonization, all we’re left with is the damage, and this makes our stories vulnerable to pathologizing analyses (Kelley, 1997). Our evidence of ongoing colonization by research—absent a context in which we acknowledge that colonization—is relegated to our own bodies, our own families, our own social networks, our own leadership. After the research team leaves, after the town meeting, after the news cameras have gone away, all we are left with is the damage.” (1)
Maybe I am in the search of a mode of collaborative, peer to peer efforts and support that only exist in bell hooks’ literature, where radical pedagogy can exist in the light of queer and POC communities or perhaps outside the competitive setting of capitalizing knowledge.
In the search of finding feminist collaborations in urban settings, where media practices and walking tools work, I found this documentary by the Spanish collective: Adrift in the Circuits of Women’s Precarious Lives (Precarias a la Deriva). (2) The documentary reflects on their walking practices but goes deeper in the analysis of labour, housing, exploitation, racism, and colonial struggles that are experienced by a range of women in the city of Madrid.
To this extend, I wonder where and how these divisive lines start. If in the light of collectivity and militant efforts we, as women, don’t represent a treat or a waste of time, but instead, sharing knowledge is an opportunity to challenge, recap, and reflect together.
Perhaps this is a friendly reminder to re-think what intersectional feminism and decolonial tools mean in the light of academic practices, where theoretically speaking is explained, but their practical realization still under construction.
It is possible in academia to think through the lens of intersectional feminism methodologies?
What does it mean to collaborate and to approach a Research of Desire in the light of intersectional feminism and decolonial practices?

The Little W Engine On The Dyno: We Finish our Chevy 348
As projects often go around here there were some delays finishing our 348 and getting it on the dyno. Between John Beck’s racing schedule, the demands of building Bonneville and El Mirage record-breaking engines, and all our commitments, it took a while for us to get together. But the wait was worth it. When we started this project our goals were conservative; we were going to do a conservative rebuild of our 1960 Super Turbo-Thrust 348 that was rated at 280 hp. As we explained in the original build story way back in October, rather than rebuild the original heads we opted for an Edelbrock Performer kit that included aluminum heads and a hydraulic roller cam for its obvious advantages. The rods in these engines were known to be trouble prone and we had a couple of originals that we didn’t trust, so we opted for a set of Scat 6.385-inch H-beam replacements with 7/16-inch ARP cap screws (stock 348 rods are 6.135 inches long, 409 rods are 6.00). The longer rods allowed us to use Ross pistons from 409 guru Jack Gibbs that are lighter than stock replacements.
With the engine bored 0.030-inch oversize (from 4.125 to 4.155 inches) and the stock stroke of 3.25 inches (which Beck took exception to, but more on that later) the displacement came out to 352 ci. As this was going to be a daily driver street engine with a single four-barrel carb we were shooting for 350 hp and a broad, flat torque curve. What we ended up with was 379.9 hp and peak torque of 361 lb-ft—but for our purposes the most important statistic was the torque averaged 344.55 lb-ft from 3,000 to 6,300 rpm. On top of everything else, thanks to the Edelbrock cam the exhaust note at idle is music to the ears.
Carburetion The entire philosophy of this engine build was simple and effective. To that end we used an Edelbrock Performer RPM dual-plane intake manifold and an Edelbrock 1806 Thunder Series AVS 650-cfm four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke. There are a number of features about the Edelbrock carburetors we have come to appreciate. There are no gaskets below the fuel level, which eliminates leaks and jet changes and float adjustments can be done without draining fuel or removing the carburetor. In addition, the use of metering rods means that recalibration is often as simple as changing them without changing jets. In addition, the transition from lean to rich air/fuel ratios is easily adjusted by changing a pair of springs. In addition to the other advantages Edelbrock carburetors offer the Thunder Series’ unique Qwik-Tune Secondary Air Valve allows for limitless calibration of the secondary circuit.
Ignition System PerTronix plug-and-play billet distributors for 348/409 engines have CNC-machined 6061 T-6 polished billet housings with ball bearings rather than bushings supporting the upper shaft. They are available with Ignitor II or Ignitor III electronic ignition modules. We chose the Ignitor II as it senses the current level in the coil and adjusts the dwell accordingly. The Ignitor III adds multiple sparks throughout the entire rpm range and includes a built-in digital rev limiter. Both only require attaching two wires to the coil and they’re ready to run.
When it comes to selecting a coil PerTronix offers three choices: Flame Thrower I, II, and III. Flame Thrower I 40,000V coils can be used on virtually any inductive (non-capacitive discharge) ignition system. Flame Thrower II coils have lower resistance, 0.6 ohms for use with Ignitor II ignition systems as well as many other high-energy ignitions. Flame Thrower III coils have extremely low resistance of 0.32 ohms and are compatible with Ignitor III electronics only.
Headers As this engine is destined for an early Ford engine compartment we needed block hugger–style headers and we chose Patriot’s PN H8066-B. The 18-gauge primary tubes are 1-3/4 inches in diameter leading into 2-1/2-inch collectors. To prevent leaks the flanges are 5/16-inch thick and have raised beads around the ports. These headers come complete with gaskets, header bolts, and collector reducers. Available finishes include Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (MCTBC), Hi-Temp black coating that provides good corrosion and heat protection, and raw steel for individual customizing. Patriot also offers a chrome option that is polished before and after assembly for show-quality appearance, as well as a stainless steel option.
Engine Accessories Choosing a starter for a W engine will depend on the diameter of the ring gear on the flexplate or flywheel. Two are available: 12.750-inch diameter with 153 teeth and 14-inch diameter with 168 teeth. In either case Tuff Stuff can supply the appropriate starter in fullsize OEM style or high-torque gear reduction starters. They are available in chrome plated, stealth black, and powdercoated colors and Factory Cast PLUS+ finishes. The gear reduction starters feature an adjustable mounting block, which lets the starter be rotated to provide additional starter clearance.
On the front of the engine we used Alan Grove brackets to mount the power steering pump, alternator, and A/C compressor. We used a Tuff Stuff Type II GM power steering pump that requires a separate fluid reservoir and a press-fit pulley. Tuff Stuff offers two different versions of the remote reservoir pumps, 1,200 psi for recirculating ball steering and 850 psi for Mustang II rack-and-pinion steering gear.
For a charging system we used Tuff Stuff’s 10SI GM-style alternator. It has a custom voltage regulator that lets the alternator be used as a one-wire alternator or can be factory wired using the OEM plug. Available in chrome plated, black chrome, polished aluminum, stealth black, and powdercoated colors and Factory Cast PLUS+ finishes, these alternators output from 65 to 140 amps.
The final accessory to be added was the Vintage Air A/C compressor. Like the alternator and power steering pump it’s mounted with a separate, stand-alone bracket.
What Happens With 86 More Cubic Inches? When we began this project Beck tried his best to convince us to build a larger displacement engine with a stroker crankshaft, but we resisted. We were looking for a 350- to 375hp mild mannered driver, we had an excellent stock crank that only required polishing, and our budget was pretty well used up. We stuck with the stock crank even though we knew this engine, particularly with the parts we had selected, was capable of producing much more power.
At one time stroking a 348 was done by using a big-block Chevy crankshaft but that was expensive as it required extensive machine work. But today there are very affordable stroker cranks available and it’s simply a matter of ordering pistons with the proper wristpin location to make it all work. For right around $700 the stroke of a 348 can be increased from 3.25 to 4.0 inches, resulting in 434 ci. Recently Beck built a stroked 348 with virtually the identical components we used in our engine—the result was 473 hp and 507 lb-ft of torque. That’s almost 100 hp and over 160 more lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for more out of a 348, that’s a pretty good return on the investment.
Our finished 348 decked out with Edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers and a matching air cleaner.
Before John Beck strapped our 348 to the dyno the Edelbrock roller rockers were adjusted. With the valves closed the pushrods were spun while removing any lash. When the pushrods would no longer spin easily the adjustment was tightened a half turn and locked in place.
As the Edelbrock Performer 348/409 kit includes a steel hydraulic roller cam it’s necessary to run a compatible distributor gear. We chose a Comp Cams composite distributor gear (PN 12140) for our PerTronix distributor.
The Comp distributor gear comes with the roll pin hole in one side only. By aligning the holes in the gear and the shaft and using them as a guide the second hole was drilled.
For spark plug wires we chose a cut-to-fit set from PerTronix. The Flame Thrower Universal MAG X2 wires come with trick ceramic spark plug ends—they’re available with straight, 45- and 90-degree ends and come with terminals for male and female distributor caps.
Assembling a set of spark plug wires is simplified with this ratcheting crimping tool from PerTronix. It comes in a kit with dies that can also be used on common electrical connectors.
After stripping away a 1/2 inch of the insulation the conductor is folded back over the wire and the end is crimped in place. The result a solid, factory-looking attachment. Silicone lubricant will help slide the boot in place (do that before the end is crimped on!).
With the engine up to operating temperature Beck checked for any water or oil leaks. Finding none he set the timing in preparation for the first pull.
We used a PerTronix Flame Thrower billet distributor with vacuum advance and Ignitor II electronics. Like GM distributors, the advance mechanism is under the rotor.
To adjust maximum mechanical advance PerTronix includes three different sets of limiters. This older style uses colored dots to indicate the total mechanical advance, none equal 12 degrees; blue 16; red 20.
Also included with the distributor are three sets of springs to adjust the mechanical advance curve.
Here a pair of late-style limiters marked 10 are installed. Together they restrict total mechanical advance to 20 degrees
The proper coil for our PerTronix Flame Thrower distributor was a Flame Thrower II coil with 0.6-ohm primary circuit resistance.
For reliability and simplicity we chose to run a single Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS carburetor on an Edelbrock dual plane manifold.
Edelbrock’s calibration kit includes primary and secondary jets, metering rods springs, everything necessary to a tune a carburetor for any engine combination.
In many cases tuning an Edelbrock carburetor is a simple matter of changing a metering rods or metering springs.
If jet changes are necessary, the top of the carburetor can be removed without the danger of spilling gasoline. Arrow number one points to the primary jet, number two is secondary jet. There is one pair in the left side float chamber, another set in the right float chamber.
During testing we picked up a small increase in bottom-end torque with an Edelbrock spacer. While the increase wasn’t significant the phenolic spacer also provides the added benefit of its excellent heat insulating properties, so we kept it.
We used ARP 12-point flexplate bolts for Chevy’s big- and small-blocks as well as Ws. ARP suggests thread locking compound (medium strength, not the high strength shown) on the threads and fastener assembly lube under the heads then torque to 75 lb-ft.
Our flexplate is neutral balance with a 168-tooth ring gear. Again, it’s the same as big- and small-block Chevrolets with a two-piece rear main seal. SFI approved, this flexplate also has the dual torque converter pattern.
Although the original starter is bolted to the bellhousing, the 348’s starter pad is also drilled for a block-mounted starter (they were used with Turboglides).
We used a mini starter from Tuff Stuff (PN 1350). It mounts with the diagonal holes and is compatible with 168-tooth ring gear.
For headers we chose Patriot’s block huggers with high-temp black coating. Note we retained the original canister oil filter—the plug above the filter is where the oil pressure sender will be installed.
Originally our 348 used a road draft tube, we installed a rubber grommet in the hole where it went and used a small-block Chevy push-in PCV valve.
The Edelbrock manifold came with a chrome oil filler tube and breather cap. The thermostat housing is standard Chevrolet.
For a vibration damper we used a Rattler from TCI Automotive for a small-block Chevy (the crankshaft snout of the W engines and small-blocks are the same diameter).
To drive all the accessories we used small-block pulleys from Vintage Air. The additional third crankshaft pulley will turn the power steering pump.
The crankshaft uses a two-groove pulley with an additional single-groove pulley for the power steering pump; the water pump uses a two-groove pulley.
Tuff Stuff supplied the remote reservoir power steering pump. To install the press fit gear a stud, washer, and nut are supplied to pull the pulley into place. Never use a press as it will damage the pump.
We used mounting brackets from Alan Grove, they are simple, strong, and affordable. This power steering bracket bolts to the two threaded holes in the front of the block.
The Tuff Stuff one-wire alternator mounts to an Alan Grove bracket that attaches to the left head via existing holes.
The Alan Grove air-conditioning bracket uses two 3/8-inch bolts and two that are 7/16 inch. It was necessary to drill and tap two of the holes in the Edelbrock head to the larger size.
Here the high-mount Alan Grove bracket and Vintage Air A/C compressor are in place. As with all the brackets, belt adjustment is part of the design so no additional straps or supports are necessary.
We installed all the mounting brackets before painting them to make sure they fit properly. We needn’t have worried as they fit perfectly.
