This is it. This is what the series is about. The joy of sharing meals with those you love.

Izutsumi has a bowl with a mushroom in it. She hasn't eaten it yet, but she might be trying to eat things she doesn't like.

I'll bet it was Kabru's idea to invite people from all around. The Town Crier's words sound like the kind of propaganda Kabru would create.

Flamela and her aide become very talkative when drunk. Those orcs may have learned ancient secrets that Kabru and Marcille have been trying to uncover their whole lives.

The demon wanted to make a blissful meal that lasts for eternity. Laios put on a grand feast and everyone in attendance was sick of eating after just seven days. More proof that the demon's plan was doomed to fail.

Fleki has eaten so much that she's got a balloon belly.

Twin braids is probably the most elaborate hairstyle Chilchuck can do. At least Marcille's braids have matching clips.

Could this be the curse?!?

Izutsumi has to always be edgelord cool person.

Huh. I would have thought Laios would have already told everyone about the lion's curse by now. But they all agree that there's no way the lion's curse has anything to do with Falin.

Not entirely sure why Marcille is afraid of hurting Laios by telling him the curse likely doesn't have to do with Falin. I guess he just already has enough to worry about. The last thing he needs is to worry about being able to resurrect Falin AND there's some other goal he is cosmically denied.

This series has a lot of themes surrounding eating as a form of social bonding and happiness. And this final chapter is explaining how it's not possible to enjoy a meal together forever because death is an inevitability.

And in addition, another theme of this series is the connection to what we eat. We eat to live, but something has to die to do that, and we shouldn't take life for granted.

But also, this is a comedy manga about a bunch of goofballs eating weird monsters. You're free to find deeper meaning to anything, but you don't need to ascribe meaning to everything.

I wonder if Izutsumi and Lycion have a similar scenario in their souls. Their human souls pin down the beast souls in them so they are the dominant being.

The moment her legs were restored.

She had the chance to discard the dragon entirely, but she chose to bring it with her.

The demon is a form and personality mana took to better understand humans and other living things. When it first came to the world, it responded to the millions of creatures wanting to eat. It understood that eating doesn't satisfy forever, and whatever gets eaten becomes part of the world.

The demon decided to join in on eating and being eaten because it wanted to know why everything participated in this. But it came to the wrong conclusion that eating was something done only for temporary pleasure. It thought the eternal happiness the ancients wished for was simply infinite food and eternally full bellies. And it couldn't understand why they wished for their destruction even though they had that.

The demon was okay with being eaten because it was infinite. No matter how much of it was consumed, it never lost anything. But Laios ate its desires and that core bit that defined the demon's self was lost. It's appetite became part of Laios and the demon has since realized that eating is more than just a pleasurable activity. It's also how we obtain the nutrients we need to stay alive and maintain our bodies. We don't just eat food and then poop it out. What we eat becomes part of us.

Laios kept a brooch of the winged lion as part of his royal garments because he believes the winged lion genuinely wanted to make people happy. He wished for the lion to not be forgotten and keep watching over the world. And the lion has chosen to fulfill that wish.

At its core, the demon may have actually desired to be part of the world. While its infinite self makes it impossible to truly exist within the finite world, it has found a role it is satisfied to have. It has stopped being a living creature and is now a force that living beings can use and helps their existence.

Falin's dress was fine until this moment. The threads look like blood vessels.

Pattadol probably styled Marcille's hair here. Unlike Marcille, Pattadol had only one way she decorated her hair and it's pretty similar to this.

Happy reunions all around. Falin's a little better at remembering people than Laios, but she only remembers Senshi as that guy who cooked them a meal.

Since when?

Pattadol is trying to look proper and not nosy at all, but her fairy was trying to listen in on everything as well.

Shuro can't bear to look at Falin right now.

The orcs like to gift vegetable crops. Maybe that adds to why they like Senshi so much.

Of course, they might also be trying to cozy up to King Laios by giving his sister gifts.

Not the most exciting final meal the series could have had.

She's got little dragon fangs too.

And it makes one last joke at Laios's expense. Despite achieving everything most people could ever desire, it meant nothing to him because he couldn't be around monsters anymore.

And one of the themes of this series is accepting that you can't have everything you want but you can still find joy in what you have. Laios may not be able to make a kingdom of monsters, but he can still make a kingdom where all races can live together, share meals, and eat what they like with the people they like.

The Nightmare

Written: 2nd January 2025

Notes: Established relationship Sylus/MC, with my personal pov of the game and lil headcanons littered in. Unnamed MC, but using my personal MC's basic appearance and adjusted backstory. I take some liberties with what the game offers me. I had the mental image of wolf Sylus trying to devour mc, except his jaws never closed, so I ended up just throwing this out. Something something I earn a dime, something something capitalism, something something post fic on company time.

You watch as the flames lick their way through what's left of the house. Eating its way through framework. Chewing and splintering shattered glass. If you look closely you can see a dragon. Horns twisted and broken, tail sharper than a scorpion sting. Claws gouging out the ground as it moves.

Closing your eyes doesn't stop the heat touching your cheeks, it doesn't make the image go away, so burned into your retinas you can see its shade against your eyelids.

The beast moves, uncaring of you, through the remains of what had been your home. Through memories you'd wanted to cherish more than you had.

To time you wished you'd not wasted.

It slips out from underneath you, the ground swallowing you whole, and as you look back up you see the bright red eyes spearing you. Wavering flame and scorched earth.

The fall isn't long, but the landing is hard. Knocking the air from your lungs, and sparks fill your vision. Rolling to your side, you force a hand to push you back up. It's colder here, there's no devouring beast, tearing your life from you. Instead just endless dark, snarled trees.

Unfamiliar forest that stretches past the edges of your mind. You are still alone, but despite the chill in your bones, this is a better place to be stuck… than on the edge of the abyss.

Your legs are unsteady when you stand, trembling steps pushing you forwards.

Whispers flicker out of the trees.

Alone.

Broken.

Worthless.

Stupid.

You turn, looking for the speaker, but the voices are different and there's no one lurking behind branches.

You think you recognise them, the calls. Familiar, intimate, but they're twisted. Believing that the voices would call you such things… It feels worse than the flames licking your skin.

Moving forwards is the only option available to you. If you stop, if you stall… your terrified mind thinks you might slip back into the ground. Too scared to know what else will be waiting for you.

A growl ripples through the trees, turning to a snarl. You step forward, ready to run, but ice crawls up your leg. Freezing your skin, pulling you to your knees. Stumbling until you're on your knees. Your lone hand stabilises you before that too is encased in ice.

A huge white wolf stalks out, molten eyes and dripping canines. It approaches you, sniffing like you're its next meal.

Judging by the way its tongue lolls out, to pass over the skin of your neck, you might be.

You want to close your eyes again, escape, be anywhere else, but it keeps you captive. Jaws open, and you try to pull away but its head is too big.

The heat of its breath against your skin, the dripping saliva on your neck as it closes around you.

Of all the ways to die, you didn't think it would be a beast in the forest.

Your heart, likely, maybe a wanderer's sword… you'd take the unlikely dream of it being in your sleep, at an old age, in the arms of those you love.

Instead, it will be a creature, as beautiful as it is dangerous, devouring you in a forest where no one will ever find whatever is left of you.

As the fangs dig into your skin, blood trickling, soaking into your clothes… you wait for the snap.

"Kitten."

Shaking.

"Beloved, come on."

Heat against your face.

"Wake up."

You gasp, lurching forwards. Falling into the heat of a familiar embrace. The scent of Sylus, wrapping around you, the feeling of his lips pressing to your neck. Over where the wolf fang's still sting.

Hand clasping at his hair, tangling in silver locks.

"You're safe, I'm here." He hums into your neck. Easing the ache in your chest, the heart that thunders too quickly to be safe. It is home. Eased with the chaotic beat of his against yours. "Breathe, kitten." His thumb rubs constant pressure into the back of your neck.

When your heart settles, and the fear skitters back to recesses, you pull away enough to bump his forehead with yours. Peering in at jewel-like eyes, painted in concern, but a hearth of comfort. The beasts in your nightmares disappear, hand placed on their brow, easing them back, lowering their hackles.

It is not a nightmare that waits for you when you wake, it is a warm bed, warm arms, and gentle affection.

A drink is placed on the side table, steam rising from hot milk and honey, another kiss is pressed into your head, and your eyes drift closed.

You're safe.

You're home.

There are no beasts here. No monsters to hurt you…

And when you wake up, you will greet the love of those around you, and find comfort in warm arms.

“I wonder what WoF Lego would be like” - Me, about to start cooking

I feel like they’d either make the dragons big collector sets, entirely brick built, make them normal minifigs, or make special molds for each tribe and just use different prints depending on the character.

I feel like the first wave of sets would likely be arc 1, since that makes the most sense.

anyhow. This is what I think wings of fire Lego sets could be like. I’ll probably do more in the future when I read more of the series. Don’t take these as 100% confirmed undeniable proof that Lego will make wings of fire sets.

ARC 1:

BOOK 1:

SET 1: Dragonet Cave Escape

Builds: The DoD cave, Table and shelf for scrolls, cave door

Minifigs: Kestrel, Dune, Clay, Tsunami and Starflight

Play features: the door would have the ability to open and close.

SET 2: Skywing Arena

Builds: Skywing Arena Pillar, Arena Balcony, Glory’s fake tree and Scarlet’s throne.

Minifigs: Queen Scarlet, Peril, Clay, Tsunami, Gill, Glory, Princess Burn, and 3x unnamed Skywings

Play feature: Scarlet’s throne would have a mechanism that knocks her off of it.

The unnamed Skywings would have spears.

BOOK 2:

SET 1: Royal Hatchery

Builds: Royal Hatchery, Orca’s Statue, Hatchery Doors.

Minifigs: Tsunami, Orca’s Statue.

Includes a printed egg piece to represent Auklet’s egg, and a spear for Tsunami. The statue can be removed from its base.

SET 2: The Summer Palace

Builds: The Summer Palace, tables, shelves.

Minifigs: Tsunami, Queen Coral, Anemone, Riptide, Commander Shark, Whirlpool, Princess Blister, 5x unnamed Seawings.

Play features: Each floor is removable, allowing for easier access to play with minifigures.

Two of the unnamed Seawings would have spears. Whirlpool would have a 1x2 flat plate with a scroll printed on it. Coral would have a double-sided head. One side is a calm face, and the other an angry face.

BOOK 3:

SET 1: The Rainwing Village

Builds: A large platform, plants and hammocks. The Queen’s Throne Room

Minifigs: Glory, Mangrove, Queen Magnificent, Tamarin, Jambu, Liana, Mango, Grandeur, Bromeliad.

SET 2: Blaze’s Fortress + Enchanted Tunnel

Builds: Blaze’s Fortress, Enchanted Tunnel

Minifigs: Blaze, Mangrove, Glory, Deathbringer, 1x unnamed icewing, 2x unnamed sandwings

Play features: The enchanted tunnel would have a play feature where you can put a minifig inside, turn a piece on the top, and the minifig would spin around to the other side.

The tunnel, on one side, would be rainforest terrain, with plants, and sand and rock on the other.

SET 3: Volcano Tunnel Builds: The Volcano Tunnel + Rainwing prison.

Minifigs: Glory, Kinkajou, Orchid, Deathbringer, 2x unnamed Nightwings. Play features: The prison’s back walls and roof would be removable, and the doors can be opened. The unnamed Nightwings would have spears, and one has a key to open the doors.

The volcano tunnel would have the same rainforest terrain on one side, but would have rock and orange lava on the other side instead of sand.

BOOK 4:

SET 1: Nightwing Library

Builds: The Nightwing Library, Bookshelves and tables.

Minifigs: Starflight, Morrowseer, Flame, Squid, Ochre, Viper, and Fatespeaker. 2x unnamed Nightwing

Includes a dreamvisitor printed onto a 1x1 flat round tile.

SET 2: Nightwing Lab

Builds: Tables and scientific equipment

Minifigs: Mastermind and Starflight.

SET 3: Battlewinner’s Cauldron

Builds: Battlewinner’s Cauldron, rock terrain.

Minifigs: Battlewinner, Starflight, Greatness, Fatespeaker

Play features: The cauldron would have a mechanism where Battlewinner can be lowered inside, while a “frozen” (translucent blue) version of her minifig is launched out. Translucent yellow, orange and red studs could also be dumped out of the cauldron.

BOOK 5:

Set 1: Scorpion Den + Enchanted Tunnel

Builds: Scorpion Den gate, market stalls, Thorn’s tent, Enchanted Tunnel

Minifigs: Sunny, Thorn, Qibli, Sixclaws, Preyhunter, Fierceteeth, Strongwings, 3x unnamed sandwings.

Extra set: Stonemover’s Cave

Builds: Stonemover’s Cave

Minifigs: Stonemover, Sunny, Dinner (the fox)

Set would include the third dreamvisitor piece, so all 3 would be able to be collected without buying duplicate sets.

Set 3: Weirdling Tower

Builds: Weirdling Tower, Cage.

Minifigs: Scarlet, Smolder, Flower, Sunny, Peril, Thorn.

Play features: The cage would be able to be opened up, so Scarlet can be put inside. The roof and walls of the tower can open up to allow access inside.

It would include a printed dreamvisitor piece again. Scarlet would have a new face print, showing her face burnt.

FINAL SET: The Brightest Night Battle

Builds: The Sandwing Stronghold, desert terrain.

Minifigs: Clay, Tsunami, Queen Glory, Starflight, Sunny, Thorn, Smolder, Flower, Queen Glacier, Queen Moorhen, Queen Coral, Queen Ruby, Princesses Blister, Blaze, Burn, Peril, 5x unnamed Sandwings, 3x unnamed Skywings, 2x unnamed Seawings, 1x unnamed mudwing, 1x unnamed icewing.

Includes a box and two snake pieces, printed to resemble dragonbite vipers. Set would include a special molded Eye of Onyx piece for Thorn.

The set would be able to be combined with the Weirdling Tower as well.

Season 5 worries me.

So recently, Tot explained to a Twitch streamer that the fifth season of Wakfu, a season that we desperately wanted ever since we learned it was coming, wouldn't turn out like we planned.

Here's what Tot said:

A need, for the record, is to tell the love story between two(?) monsters. That will be the main storyline for this season. They won't be our heroes, I should note, but I want to present some strong enough powerful characters who are not really beautiful, and try to make the people cry to a story where the characters do not look like them. I really went for some challenges a bit political and all but incredibly very human.

Apparently, and brace yourself for this, season 5 will explore the love story of two ugly monsters and the many challenges they will face. Tot specified that they won't be the heroes and won't look like we can relate to them, but feeling sympathy or even understanding may happen.

This summary alone doesn't bother me in the least because Tot did say that they wouldn't be the heroes of the finale. However, it made me question many things about what this season can hold.

But it also says a lot because we all expected something else entirely. We thought that season 5 would immediately continue with what happened after season 4, so it could be used as a good filler between season 4 and the Great Wave to explain some things that haven't been addressed or presented in the Great Wave yet.

Things like:

how the Sadida Kingdom reacted when they learned they had to share their lands with the eliatropes;

what happened after the wedding between Yugo and Amalia;

how did Yugo get used to his older body, and if he had any trouble controlling it after the adrenaline he just had from the Necrome war;

if Yugo communicates with his eliotrope children like the rest of Oropo's group besides Bouillon;

maybe we could see the unnamed male sadida and unnamed female eliatrope's relationship growing (the ones that got married in the Great Wave. I've explained it here);

or even just Yugo contemplating all the shit that he went through in such a short time.

Because Tot finally has the time to explore all those ideas now that he's been allowed to make 26 episodes. TWENTY. SIX. Do you remember when was the last time we had 26 episodes in a season?? BACK IN 2011.

Again, the problem with this future season isn't that we'll see these new characters being ugly monsters that we've never seen in Wakfu before. Because every season always welcomes new characters, it should be logical to think we'll see some new ones in this future season. The REAL problem is that I'm scared that that's all we'll see in this finale.

Granted, the clip where Tot summarizes the season was only a snippet, which means we've only scratched the surface of what this season has to offer.

But the thought still worries me nonetheless.

Wakfu, for many fans, has been here since their childhoods, and for people like me, it has been here for almost two decades now. Which is why I'm extremely worried that the finale of Wakfu will only be about new characters that have nothing to do with the Brotherhood we have come to know and love for many years.

The idea of ending it with two random people just doesn't sit right with me.

It's like saying you want to end a full nostalgic adventure with two ugly gobbowls falling in love 💀💀

What's worse in all of this is that we should have expected this coming. A few months ago, Tot released a tweet about a new character he would involve in the future, which was this dragon-looking warrior.

I'm in the tough, in solitary mode, and these are really the best and worst times for me. As a wait, I present to you a future hero / protagonist of Krosmoz. I showed you a WIP sketch a few months ago, and the baby was done by the talented Vincent Nghiem. Enjoy.

At the time, we all thought this was going to be some minor character that was going to have a role in the fifth season, but knowing what we know now from the snippet, I'm guessing that this dragonic adventurer is probably one of the lovers Tot had mentioned (or maybe not since Tot tweeted that this character is a hero which was not what he said about the lovers. But then again, he could have changed that statement later on). THIS IS JUST A MERE SPECULATION AFTER ALL SO TAKE IT WITH A GRAINE OF SALT.

In addition, I recently saw a screenshot of Malec, one of Wakfu's directors, showing us the beginning of the fifth season's script. (thanks to @viridisgratia for providing the pic here) Below the first episode's title (which was hidden by a spoiler warning), it said version one.

This could mean two things:

either Tot is playing with some ideas and isn't really sure how to start the season or trying to find a way to improve the storyline;

he's just trying to figure out how he wants to start the show with the two monsters in mind.

Personally, I prefer the former.

I think he may be trying to discover things he wants to do when trying to test out what he likes and doesn't like. The story with the two monsters isn't going to be a story that he will eventually want, and maybe he will just ditch it because the character sheet that we saw in his tweet is just a character sheet at the end of the day. It doesn't mean it would be a fully canonized character. Maybe he's just playing with characters and seeing what fits and doesn't fit, but who knows? Perhaps I'm just being very optimistic or just very delusional, we'll see.

I'm watching "Kung Fu Panda 4" for the first time and feeling a little "???" about the way that this plot is structured and the pacing so far. It opens with Shifu urging Po to choose the NEXT Dragon Warrior, because Po apparently needs a ready replacement, and he organizes some show where Po is supposed to pick between a bunch of unnamed martial arts masters we've never seen before? Unclear whether or not these random people have any connection to the Jade Palace whatsoever.

And obviously, this showing didn't work out, and Po is presumably going to find his replacement (or a student) somewhere else later in the movie. Someone "untraditional" and "unexpected" like Po himself was in a way, probably. (The fox, I'm guessing.) But it was funny how Shifu started talking about how "Po needs to choose a replacement" and both me (waist-deep in Scum Villain fandom for years) and the person I'm watching with (reads SO much manhua and manga) tilted our heads like confused dogs. Usually, the next master is someone who has risen through the ranks over time; who are these randos?

The obvious "next step" plotline for Po here is to have him take his own students??? Shifu should be urging Po to take his next step as a master by taking his own students, like a parent insisting on grandchildren. Po can doubt his capabilities as a teacher and struggle with his new students' individual personalities and troubles, reflecting on his relationships with his own father figures (adoptive goose dad, Shifu, his estranged panda father), while trying to face the new villain of this movie. I'm just surprised they're not going in that direction if they're talking about Po finding his "replacement".

So far, the writing for this movie feels very... episodic in style. Like it was made to be a 4-parter for that television show they made? Not... bad. Just... quickly paced and a little shallow, emotionally, so far.

The Death Tool of Voldemort's Wars

So, I did say I'll make this post somewhere, so here it is.

When trying to make sense of Voldemort’s behavior in the books, I noticed that the two wars were actually very different. How they were waged, how many people died, and who was most targeted along with Voldemort's goals.

(Because I mentioned it, I'll just say Voldemort’s behavior in the book is really weird and somewhat contradictory, but I found a way to explain that. Consider this the second post on my way to analyze Voldemort after the Horcruxes one)

The Wizarding Population in the UK

(Edit: I have revisited this subject in a later post and concluded the distribution of ages is different than shown below. I still believe there are around 6,000 wizards in the UK though)

The first step to figuring out how bad the wars with Voldemort actually were is to know the size of the wizarding population in the UK. Numbers of deceased don't mean much without being able to calculate percentages.

If there are 40 students a year at Hogwarts in 1990s → 400 wizards and witches between ages 10-19

Account for fewer births during and right after the war with Grindelwald in the 1930s-1940s, and the war with Voldemort in the 1970s

Account for longer life acceptancy (Average of 130)

And we get an estimate of something like this:

With wizards being around 0.01% of the muggle population in any country.

The population in Britian in 1991 was 57,359,454, making the wizarding population 57,359*0.01% =~ 5,700

The population in Ireland in 1991 was 5.1 M, making the Irish wizarding population about 510.

So as a rough estimate, we'll say there were ~6,200 wizards and witches in the UK and Ireland together in 1991

Probably less though considering JKR killed most of Harry's grandparents' generation with Dragon Pox....

By the same logic above in the 1970s the Wizarding population in Britain and Ireland was ~5,600 + ~300 = ~5,900 wizards and witches.

So, now we have the estimated size of the population and we can gage how much damage these wars actually caused.

So, I may have compiled a list of all war casualties from both wars. I will not place the full details here (like the exact year each died), but I'll mention sides, who they were killed by, and any other information relevant to understanding the war's influence on wizarding society, and what we can learn from it about Voldemort's intentions.

This lands us at 45 casualties (including the Longbottoms) for the first Wizarding War. Now, let's look more closely at the numbers.

Not counting the muggles and creatures other than wizards lands us at 24

24/5,900 =~ 0.40% of the wizarding population was killed in the first war.

And did you notice anything interesting about the names on the list? There is only 1 muggleborn and 1 muggle family, whose death wasn't even on Voldemort's orders. What does it tell us about the war?

Well, first off, Dumbledore's idea of morality and not using dark magic and lethal curses kind of sucks. This is hardly a war, it's a massacre. 19 Order members and their families die compared to 3 Death Eaters, one of which was killed by Voldemort's creations. Moody and Mr. Weasley aren't kidding when they say the first war was rough in the fifth book. It really was, but only for their side.

The innocent casualties of people not belonging to any side in this war stand at 19 (including the 13 muggles killed by Pettigrew), and 6 (not including Pettigrew).

It's just wild how Peter Pettigrew has the most kills in this war, more than Voldemort. And it tells you a lot about Voldemort's priorities.

His priorities clearly aren't to kill all muggleborns, we can see that much. So what are his priorities? What is he actually waging a war for if it's not to kill all muggleborns like all the characters tell us?

Well, I will post a full rundown of the timeline of the first war at some point, but for now, what we know is that Voldemort is targeting the Order of the Phoenix, who opposed him. And he is in general causing chaos for the Ministry of Magic.

We know that by 1981, Voldemort practically won, with the ministry having more spies of his than any other group. The ministry was made up of Death Eaters. But we don't know of any rules he passed in this time, or moves to legalize dark magic or outlaw muggleborns — nothing like that happened.

What did happen, was that Voldemort made a cave filled with Inferi and experimented with potions (he invented the potion of despair in the cave).

It seems, more than anything, the war was there to distract the ministry or weaken it, and less about accomplishing a specific political goal. And if he was after a specific political goal, then it isn't blood purity as he isn't rounding up muggleborns like in the second war.

The low death count overall (especially when compared to the second war) is because Voldemort is there. Voldemort does not approve of unnecessary death, even muggle one:

“Nice costume, mister!” He saw the small boy’s smile falter as he ran near enough to see beneath the hood of the cloak, saw the fear cloud his painted face. Then the child turned and ran away. . . . Beneath the robe he fingered the hand of his wand. . . One simple movement and the child would never reach his mother. . . but unnecessary, quite unnecessary. . . .

(Deathly Hollows, page 295)

Voldemort himself does not like unnecessary death. He considers it and killing in rage below him at the end of the First Wizarding War. He doesn't do it himself and doesn't let his followers kill unnecessarily up until the night he kills the Potters.

What exactly Voldemort was trying to accomplish is a question I've pondered and have a few more posts about. But understanding he wasn't really after the death of all muggleborns and neither was he after control of Magical Britain, which is made very clear by the second war, is the first step to understanding him.

What we see here is that this second war was much deadlier. The Battle of Hogwarts alone had more casualties than the entirety of the First War. Even if I'm generous and add 20 more dead to my estimate of the First War, it doesn't come anywhere close to the death tool of the Second War.

Now, I ask myself, why?

The Second War was much shorter, officially ongoing between May of 1996 and May of 1998 (2 years), with the First War officially waging from 1975 to October of 1981 (6 years). What was so different between the wars that caused this kind of escalation in the second one this quickly?

We see the Second War unfold, we watch how quickly the Ministry of Magic falls and the Death Eaters take over. They quickly make laws such as the Muggleborn Registry — things that didn't happen in the first war.

“Attendance is now compulsory for every young witch and wizard,” he replied. “That was announced yesterday. It’s a change, because it was never obligatory before. Of course, nearly every witch and wizard in Britain has been educated at Hogwarts, but their parents had the right to teach them at home or send them abroad if they preferred..."

(Deathly Hollows, page 182)

Lupin is talking about the Muggleborn Registry and compulsory attendance to Hogwarts — completely new things, never seen before in Britain. They weren't around the first go-around even if Voldemort had the same amount of control over the ministry (it being made up of his followers even in the 1970s). So, what changed? What's the difference?

I pondered this question, and I realized what the main difference is — Voldemort. He is different. His priorities are different.

In the second war, Voldemort doesn't show any care for the ministry, government, or unnecessary death the way he did in the First War. In the First War he limited his Death Eaters, focusing them on targeting only Order members, but in the Second War, not only did he let them loose, but he let himself loose as well.

And I'll prove just how unconcerned he is with Britain and the war during Deathly Hollows and Half-Blood Prince.

In Half-Blood Prince, when the Death Eaters break into Hogwarts to kill Dumbledore, arguably their biggest achievement in the war thus far, and where is their leader? Off, somewhere. Researching wands so he could kill Harry Potter.

And where is Lord Voldemort, leader of the Death Eaters when his followers take over the ministry and start passing the aforementioned rules? He's in Germany, tracking down the Elder Wand.

“That’s—that’s pretty, Dolores,” she said, pointing at the pendant gleaming in the ruffled folds of Umbridge’s blouse. “What?” snapped Umbridge, glancing down. “Oh yes—an old family heirloom,” she said, patting the locket lying on her large bosom. “The S stands for Selwyn. . . . I am related to the Selwyns. . . . Indeed, there are few pure blood families to whom I am not related. . . . A pity,”

(Deathly Hollows, page 225)

Voldemort is so unaware and un-present in Britain during the time he supposedly rules it, that Dolores Umbridge can strut around the ministry with the locket that is his Horcrux and holds a piece of his soul and is his Slytherin family heirloom and claim it to belong to the Selwyn family and to be hers. And she wasn't tortured horribly to death.

Yeah, Voldemort never stepped foot in the Ministry throughout Deathly Hollows. At least, not until he retrieved the elder Wand and was convinced he could kill Harry.

In the First War, Voldemort had intentions, unrelated to blood purity as they were, but intentions nonetheless. He was actually leading and had goals for the war. In the Second War, it looks like he gave up. Like he decided killing Harry Potter is the only important thing and he isn't even bothering with anything else and lets his Death Eaters do as they please.

Conclusions:

Voldemort didn't really plan to win the Second War, he didn't really care what happened to the Ministry, as long as he could kill Harry Potter whom he is quite obsessed with. Like, he's really weird about Harry Potter, and maybe I'll talk about it more in-depth, but he's obsessed with being the one to kill Harry with a wand of his own, to the point of ignoring literally everything else.

If you are going to fight an opponent that is trying to kill you, you should probably be just as willing to be lethal in turn or you'd end up massacred like the Order of the Phoenix from the 1970s....

of course it's okay i love to yap about my drs!! so i'll be honest i haven't figured out a lot about them (as in i haven't started scripting) but i'll just info dump on what i've got brewing in my mind...

dragon rider academy — in this dr, there are multiple types of dragon riders: recreational, competitive, and royal guards. recreational is simple: they do it for the fun of it. competitive riding is a sport, so like the sports in this reality there are matches between teams etc etc. as for rider guards, they protect the royal families of their regions as guards, simple as that.

now, there are three (or maybe more i haven't decided..) dragon riding academies where people attend to learn the basics of taking care of dragons, riding them, etc. it is a 4-7 year program (again i haven't decided) in which we learn everything we need to know about dragons, as well as hatching our own dragon in our before last year (so that we can practice with our assigned dragon in our final year during the final exams)

after graduating the academy, you can choose what you want to do with your certificate (you can only ride dragons with this certificate) whether it be to pursue a career as a guard (which requires more specific training), if you want to try out to become a competitive rider, or if you simply want to get another job and continue riding and taking care of your dragon for fun :]

i haven't exactly figured out my dr self but i'm fairly certain i'll want to be a competitive rider after i graduate 'cause the adrenaline rush of it really appeals to me!!

as for my space themed drs i have my intergalactic royalty (human and alien versions) dr as well as my children of the planets dr so i'll briefly talk about each of them!!

intergalactic royalty (human) — in an attempt to create an alliance between earth and a new life found on another planet in a neighbouring solar system (unnamed at the moment!), the royal families of each earthen population arrange a marriage between their children and the royal families of this new planet. i am one of the chosen human brides (or grooms... i Might script myself as a man in this dr) and have to marry some alien (that resembles a human) against my will... but of course i'm a lover of cheesy romance novels, so we'll fall in love with each other eventually~

intergalactic royalty (alien) — i am the crown princess of a planet unlike earth. basically, this dr is about me ruling my planet (it's small, so i'm the main leader) and exploring space with my people to create alliances and discover new life. i haven't figured out if i'll be scripting my love life, but i'm leaning towards just letting it all play out on its own

finally, children of the planets — i'll be so honest i have only the slightest of plans ready for this dr and i have no idea how it'll work out, but try to stay with me... so the planets are also gods that used a piece of themselves to create children who were sent to earth. now, i have not figured out the "plot" of this dr so i'm not sure where to go from here... i was thinking maybe the eight of us are trying to find each other and return to our parents, or maybe we are rulers of eight kingdoms, i really don't know! but that's what i got :]

Mysterious People in BFDI

I was thinking about it earlier and man, there are a lot of weird unnamed figures in BFDI! People we know nothing about, don’t have names or faces or known personalities. And I was thinking, what if I gathered them all in one place to see what’s up with ‘em?

(DISCLAIMER) I love yapping. Soooooo much yapping under the cut. Lots and lots of yapping. I may never shut up.

1 - The figure in Golf Ball’s flashback

Of all the mystery people in BFDI, this may be one of the most well known. In IDFB, Golf Ball has a flashback when inside the science museum. The flashback involves a ball (possibly GB or one of her relatives) being tormented by a mysterious figure. The ball tries to hide behind a vase, but someone breaks it apart with a bat. It’s unclear what happens afterwards. During the flashback, the figure repeatedly calls the ball ‘bozo’ which is one of Golf Ball’s iconic nicknames.

As for who the figure is, we’ve really got no idea. Some people believe it to be Match, since their voices are similar and Needle says Freesmart has secret business with the science museum, but that theory has some flaws. The figure seems more antagonistic than Match. Match and the rest of the freesmarters aren’t particularly nice, but GB seems genuinely traumatized, and after her flashback she immediately gets uncomfortable and insists that they leave the museum.

Hopefully this will be expanded on if IDFB ever continues, because that is indeed quite a mysterious figure.

2 - The evil ruler of the numeric realm

If you follow me, you already know this one. I post about them a concerning amount. In fact, I already made a post dedicated to the evil ruler just the other day! Right here: https://www.tumblr.com/ghostsandfools/773643752598290433/basics

But that post is long, so I’ll recap here. The evil ruler is mentioned a couple times in the book of division. Apparently they ruled over the algebraliens and are responsible for hiding the division symbol. It’s unclear what planet they ruled on, what they look like, what their name could be, and even how many there are! The evil ruler could be multiple people. There’s really a lot of options here.

It’s probably just wishful thinking, but I hope the evil ruler gets expanded on, they’re the best <333

3 - The author of the book of division

Hey, speaking of the book of division! Who wrote it?

I don’t want this post to get too wordy, so I’ll just refer to them as ‘the author.’ The author has no name or face, but a VERY distinct personality.

They tend to ramble a LOT. Full blown tangents about the most random things imaginable. It’s unclear if they’re like this in real life as well or if they’re just spewing nonsense so they can reach the word count they need.

They also don’t seem very interested in writing the book. They state that they were commissioned by somebody else to write the book, and they don’t seem to care about algebraliens at all.

On that note, the author is decidedly NOT an algebralien. They seem weirdly prejudiced actually. They call the algebraliens dumb a couple of times, they seem to not like them.

The author also claims to not know that much about algebraliens (even though they do know a lot. Like they know so much about algebraliens it is weirdly specific)

It’s unclear how educated this person actually is. They could’ve just made up the entirety of the book and that’s why it’s so specific, we actually have no clue. Could this be someone we already know, or a different entity entirely?

4 - Just Not’s narrator

Alright kinda surprised more people aren’t talking about this. In episode 6 of tpot, Just Not decides they wanna go on a quest to slay a dragon. And they get their own cool little singing narrator to accompany them.

Except. The narrator is not cool. The narrator keeps trying to lead them directly to their deaths. Eventually the team gets fed up with it and decides to just ignore it and do their own thing, and the narrator is never seen again that I know of.

So… Who was that??? Seriously who was that. Like, I’m surprised more people aren’t freaking out over this thing. What the actual heck.

We currently have no explanation why it’s so malicious towards Just Not or where it came from in the first place. I really hope they explain that eventually because I’m so confused!

5 - Three

I just realized I probably should’ve like. Ordered this list differently. Because if it were a top 5 list then this should’ve been number one and the numbers should’ve counted down instead of up… Or I could’ve been funny and put them at number 3…. None of that’s important though!

Three is. Probably the most well known mysterious figure in bfdi. We see them in jail inside of Four’s exit, but it’s important to remember that Four’s exit is connected to a lot of places- Like, they have a door that leads to the equation playground, but that doesn’t mean it’s actually inside of them!

That being said, Three could be imprisoned somewhere else and Four just has a portal or something that leads to their cell.

There are little references to Three ALL over the place, and I don’t think they’re going to stay a mystery for long. Still, as of writing this post, we don’t know much about them! We don’t know what they sound like or much about their personality.

Three was first seen in xfohv, in which they are notably not in jail! If xfohv is canon to bfdi, Three would have to have been jailed sometime between then and now.

It’s also strange that they have their own special cell in an actual prison. Fourteen is a literal cannibal and all they did to him was lock him up outside where anyone could find him, so Three must’ve done something pretty messed up.

They also appeared as a host a couple of times in Tpot 15, and considering the fact that ‘a couple changes’ remained at the end of the episode, Three could possibly have been freed during the shift.

Out of all of these entries, Three is the most lore relevant and the one we know the most about.

So… Anyways. Oki doki, I’m done yapping now ^_^
