On that note, the recent Ren/Martyn Treebark developments seem very The Locked Tomb - core. Has anyone done a TLT AU yet, I mean I'm certain at least a few, and they're probably absolutely fire!

Ren has built with enough wood to be familiar with axes, but this isn't his axe - an yet he can feel his hands closing around it deftly and swinging it with deep familiarity during this fight. It's a sickeningly disorienting feeling, but soft and comforting in some way. his chest feels fluttery and warm somehow, though the tears on his face mingle coldly with the pre-dawn wind.

The moon grows and wanes, and Ren grows and wanes with it, sometimes his hair is on the outside and he runs through the forest, stepping on ferns, sniffing the smell of rabbits, of the small lives others will end. Sometimes in the month his fur is on the inside and he walks upright and smiles diplomatically with closed lips and only he can see how sharp his teeth are.

When the boogeyman curse decends he is hardly surprised in a way, it's old news as it enters him and like it does with everyone else, it inspires him to lust for blood.

When Liz was "born", she was godchild to the fae, the forest close by, the fae touched read her cards, and came up with the 10 of swords. Pretty grim for a child, but she couldn't bring herself to hate her relatives for it, the forest magic told her how to plant flowers, but as she's gotten older she's seen other things, grass burns, mushrooms poison, and trees certainly burn. And people are so capable of betrayal. She's had a vision about that too.

Comparatively, he thinks, Martyn might have made it out easy, but he still hears the whispers, still hears the amused listening to suffering from another world, still feels the press of invisible eyes to the back of his neck. And it makes him see and notice things he might not, leads him to his two beloveds, but makes him suspicious and angry at Grian for "no reason". And of course he's a spy, duplicitous and always selling info, a sneakthief. So that's his life.

But looking at herself and her two beloveds curled up, drinking chamomile and getting them to let her read their tea leaves, Liz thinks very much that her and her two beloveds do pretty well for three cursed people. Especially when they're together.
