Made a silly little modern AU because the brain worms demanded it. General concept under the cut:

Vash is 26, Knives is 16; they live alone together after Rem's sudden passing ~5 years prior. (rip)

Vash is a coder for a small security firm. Their system is old and busted and he's the only one who fully understands the outdated language so he constantly works long hours to put out fires. His social life is dead and compensates by impulse buying "toys" to play with.

Nai is a weirdo loner and thinks of nothing but how to get his brother to marry him one day. It's an open secret in school that he's down BAD. Everyone avoids him and the few that try to tease him about it or insult Vash are beaten to a pulp.

*Somehow* Vash is unaware of the crush. (He's very aware. He just tries to ignore it, hoping it's just a phase and Nai will move on to someone his age soon. So he won't be tempted.) ((It's not a phase, he's been crushing since he was 12.))

Legato is a year younger than Knives and acts as his goth gopher. Nai rescued him from bullies and helped pick out his new name so he now believes he's in a life debt to him. (He's also supremely jealous of Vash and barely hides it.)

Elendria is also a year younger and hangs out with the boys solely because they're the most likely to do something unhinged and disrupt classes. She eggs on Knives' delusions just to watch his "seduction" tactics escalate.

KE fake dating is involved and belly of babies is endgame, but i'll save that for my spicier accs and fics.

i need to sit down every fanfiction writer who writes smut about trans guys and i need to explain to them the effects testosterone can and will have on a transmasc person's body and also explain how depictions of trans guys in porn can come off as extremely fetishizing when written carelessly and they really need to speak to transmasc people and see them as People before throwing them into a fic to get fucked by some extremely masculine cis man

one of my issues with the over-used “touch starved” trope is that it is often misapplied to characters that are shown to just not enjoy constant contact physical affection because they are not extremely physically affectionate personalities, and/or they are selective about WHO they want touching them and WHEN they want to be or are okay with being touched (example: law)

"touch starved" phrase is describing a problem/issue but for many personalities it's not actually "so sad and needs to be fixed!!" to set boundaries regarding their personal space. i dislike it that it implies that that aspect of their life/mental state is broken making them an incomplete character. irks me a whole bunch when its stretched on without any thought

I think smth that gets me about the way a lot of the fandom woobifies Vash is that like... so many of them erase his anger? They make him a soft and sweet doormat who never gets angry Ever, and that's just objectively not true, EVEN IF we're just talking about tristamp Vash. He's definitely softer spoken in tristamp than the other versions, but we still see him get angry!! We see him Yell!!! And these people ignore that!

Then when you consider 98 Vash and ESPECIALLY trimax Vash. Bro is genuinely furious like Any time he is dealing with #Situations. He gets angry. He yells. And he's genuinely tempted to kill people in anger (as we see with Monev).

It's just plain mischaracterization when people make him so soft and sweet and Never Angry. And we all know exactly why people characterize him like this.
