I've been working on 9 different Hominin reconstructions in Blender, and now I finally finished this Paranthropus boisei bust, reconstructed over a scan of fossil skull OH 5 provided by MorphoSource. The "skin" here is my significant modification of "free_basemesh_head_woman" created by Mono on SketchFab, because that had much better topology than I could make from scratch. These eight images are exported directly from Blender via a variety of camera setups, and the video fades between three additional versions of all these, including a Solid viewport shading option and a reveal of the underlying muscles, bone, and cartilage. Color and Displacement textures created in Photopea, 3d Object rendered in Blender, and video created with Clipchamp, 2024-25. More Hominins to come! Eventually!

Kane Pixels is a genius at whatever his art might be called. Because horror is usually, like, gory ways to die that I didn't need to know could happen, stupid protagonists making stupid decisions so the stupid plot can happen, horrible things that I don't want to think about, jumpscares whose only purpose is to cheaply make something scary, etc.
Kane Pixels does none of that. Yet I cannot begin to put into words the fear, the dread, the impending feeling of doom that each of his videos brings me. And strangely enough, the wonderful and unstoppable fascination that grips me every time.
Until Kane Pixels, I never had to physically distance myself from a video in which NOTHING happens. No scary music, no jumpscare, no horrible creature, no blood, no immediate threat.
Guys. His latest video could almost be entirely pitched as: a man walks down a very long stairway.
It's stupid.
It's not scary.
I'm barely four minutes in and I had to stop at least three times because it was too much for me.
What was too much? I'm not sure. The atmosphere? The infinite possibilities of what could happen? The strange feeling that something might go wrong, while nothing really hints at anything that could go wrong? How real and casual it looks? The "hell no" I felt at first glance when that stairway appeared? Maybe all of the above. Maybe none.
The craziest is, despite all that, I WANT to know what happens next, and I keep coming back to it until I watch the whole thing. Every time.
And you know what, in any other circumstances, you'd need a pretty fucked up amount of money to convince me to watch horror for a long period of time — movie, series, video game, whatever. I don't like it, I don't see the point of it, I have a brain that more often than not gets stuck on "Can you imagine what it would actually feel like? 'Cause apparently I can and I will share this thought with you!" So yeah, horror is not my jam.
But I keep coming back to his videos because I'm so curious. I'm not even sure this qualify as "horror." It feels like so much more than that. His storytelling skills are ridiculous. He doesn't give us much. There's no need for complex elements. The thing is, it somehow awakens an old instinct from somewhere deep into my brain that tells me "run run run, something's off, this isn't right, save your life", while another part of my brain gets so excited, because "that's fascinating, I NEED to figure out whatever this is, whatever it means and how it happened."
His series about the Backrooms is insane, but his other random stuff is also beyond words.

Watched a vtuber video once and youtube started spamming me with other vtubers videos (which are mostly 3D anime girl boobs).
The facial expressions of some are extremely well done and It's giving me strong urges to make 3D models of my OCs and make them vtuber models so I can see my characters moving.

This is definitely NOT one of those drastic “look how much my art has improved!” Redraw situations but I just decided to redo one of my favorite early drawings from when I was first starting to draw, on some bigger paper so I can try my hand at painting which is my weakest medium
And it’s subtle but I’m noticing a definite difference in my comprehension of perspective in particular
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like the first drawing was very much my best attempt. The second drawing I understood how to align the back box thing with the chest piece, and the imperfections in perspective (such as in the shoulder or the alignment of the feet) I maintained on purpose for the comedic quality I feel they have, as opposed to the first drawing where it was kinda the best I could do, but I accepted it because it looked funny.

Trying to take pictures of my new game but my phone keeps capturing the Gameboy screen as very blue (when it is not blue.)
I can already tell this game is gonna be good though.

ksd6700 - Gaming Squid Missile: influences
I love wearing them on my sleeve, so this music video comes with some massive shoutouts to:
The Scene / The New Dance Show: absolutely what I was going for with the set design and the general construction of the video
Ugo Ugo Ruga (and other early CGI): big influence on Firedrill's art and character design for the vid
bullet time / virtual cinematography of the Wachowskis, John Gaeta & co
Mummenschanz
and of course the Backrooms / liminal spaces phenomenon: too many to link, but here's a recent fav which gave me some set design ideas

Parasite (1982)
"That thing on your stomach..."
"A new strain of parasite. I deserve it, in a way. I created it."
"For the Merchants? Why?"
"I thought for the government. They're so mixed up with the Merchants now, they work for one another. This 'thing', as you call it, is growing. It's dormant now but it will soon grow larger... and kill me."

drud that’s a family video you can’t buy games from there
just watch me. i whip my wallet and pull out an original holographic charizard pokemon card. yeah buddy. one of these for one luigi's mansion please. and some pikmin 1 and 2 as sides. and a laarge soda.
#ask#anon#i know what a family video is#we had one here when i was growing up but it was called movie gallery#i use to rent a lot of games there as a kid. sometimes good. sometimes bad.#good being like. wario world. mario galaxy. twilight princess.#bad being shrek extra large. one of the ice age games. and likely others im forgetting.#i remember renting ty the tasmanian tiger but like. theres one segment from it that i thought was some other game#so like theres a level at night near a pond and a bridge in that game. right.#my memory of that level involved you playing as a frog with a tophat or something and i couldnt ever figure out what game it was#up until i watched a playthrough/speedrun of it.#i think that memory was lumped in with ''game demos'' in my brain#cause we had a demo disk in our house that had treasure planet and primal (the ps2 game with the woman and gargoyle)#but it also had... i think a turn based 3D rpg game demo??? i dont know what game it was and i cannot find what demo disk it was#especially since finding specific demo disks (on youtube no less) is incredibly difficult#the demo had you started on a trail in the middle of these green green fields#and i think you ran into someone from your village and you battled them? or something?#the only other thing i remember was going into a house and having a camera that was placed in one corner of the room.#i think my family threw away that disc or something. its literally nowhere to be found.#same with a n64 magazine we had that had floigan bros and banjo tooie cheat codes#i had looked at the floigan bros page a few times as a kid cause it looked really fucking weird. but i thought it was an obscure N64 title#i specifically remember hoygles anger box. and maybe their fucked up dog.#but yeah ik what video rental stores are. but that doesnt mean i cant not want to go to a place that does sell old games#im blasting you with shockwaves and dinking my laarge sofa#ignore that typo.
