I'm sure some of you know but something I didn't learn until later is that the game boy camera is more than just a camera! It's actually got a lot of charming facets and ways to play with the camera. It even has a Game and Watch Ball game inside! This video from Akfamilyhome does a great job going over every aspect if you wanna see :)

The Japanese Game Boy Printer manual has this cute anthropomorphic version of the printer isn't that adorable :D

Also the boxart on the Japanese Game Boy Camera is stellar AND the inside is decorated with pictures of....the thing that came in the box xD I dunno, that's pretty funny isn't it?

And can we appreciate how the o in Pocket is the camera lens? Nintendo Japan was really going all out on such an amazing peripheral!

Super Mario Maker 2: new Toad House minigames Easter eggs, references

Nintendo released a new update for Super Mario Maker 2 — the Nintendo Switch game’s “final major update” — on Wednesday that adds a new World Maker feature, allowing players to make their own Super Mario World-style playlist maps. The update also added a new Super Mario Bros. 2 mushroom, the Koopalings, and much more. But one new feature for the World Maker portion of Super Mario Maker 2 deserves some attention. There are three Toad House minigames where players can earn 1-Up mushrooms. One is familiar: Match & Win! is the slots-style game from Super Mario Bros. 3 in which players have to match three panel pieces to earn extra lives. The other two appear totally new. Catch & Win! is a baseball minigame in which a Bill Blaster-like cannon throws pitches at the player. It features a little musical jingle lifted from Nintendo’s own Baseball for the NES. But as you can see in the GameXplain video above, the minigame also features a cameo from Weird Mario. The unsettling tall and skinny Mario appears if the player misses three balls. An angry Weird Mario appears to deliver a “You damn kids!” admonishment in a garbled voice (which definitely sounds like another Nintendo reference I can’t yet identify). Weird Mario appears elsewhere in Super Mario Maker 2, even though the Weird Mushroom power-up didn’t carry over from the original Super Mario Maker. The third minigame, Pop & Win!, tasks the player with blowing up an inflatable Toad House. The music and inflation animation, as Twitter user Akfamilyhome points out, are a reference to the Famicom Disk Writer kiosks that Nintendo used in Japan. The Famicom Disk System was a rewritable storage format for the Famicom, Japan’s version of the NES. Games like The Legend of Zelda and Metroid were originally released on Famicom Disk Cards, instead of cartridges, overseas. Famicom owners who had a Disk System add-on could take their disks to kiosks and pay to have new games written onto the cards. The final Famicom Disk System game was released in 1992. Alleged Nintendo “gigaleak” reveals eye-opening prototypes for Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Kart, Star Fox 2 and more • Eurogamer.net

It looks like one of the biggest Nintendo leaks ever has revealed prototypes for some of the company’s classic games, including Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Kart and Star Fox 2.

This latest leak appears to relate to the emergence of old Nintendo data earlier in 2020. Videos have hit YouTube showing early prototypes of Super Mario Kart and Yoshi’s Island – all compiled from leaked source code.

VGC collected a raft of these videos.

First up there’s this Yoshi’s Island proto with different UI graphics, placeholder music from Mario World, and has a prefix of ‘Super Mario Bros. Then there’s a build of Super Mario Kart with no drifting.

There’s also this slightly broken Super Mario Kart build with no drifting (?) and unused tracks, including a unique title theme

There’s also a build called “Super Donkey” that includes a character that observers have pointed out looks a bit like Stanley the Bugman from Donkey Kong 3.

Also of note is the apparent leak of the Star Fox 2 source code. Q-Games chief Dylan Cuthbert, who co-developed classic SNES shooter Star Fox and the unreleased Star Fox 2 (Star Fox 2 eventually launched on Nintendo’s standalone SNES mini console 22 years after it was shelved), took to Twitter to express his concern at the leak, saying “source code is personal – it should be up to the developer if they want it in the public or not”.

somebody managed to compile a working build/ROM stemming from the source codes files of Star Fox 2 that was leaked in the big GigaLeak today.

People are still digging into the leak, and it looks inevitable that more will emerge over the coming days. A post on ResetEra shows the scale of the breach. It’s particularly damaging for Nintendo, which has traditionally kept its work-in-progress under lock and key. The company has yet to comment.

In 2008, 9-year-old me started a YouTube channel to post bad Mario 64 bloopers on. And now, 16 years later, I've hit 50k subscribers!

I'll forgo the sappy 'I wouldn't be here without your support' speech, but at the very least, thanks for continuing to watch my stupid videos.

Since I started making proper scripted videos in 2017, this channel has seen its on-and-off points as I graduated university and slid into a day job that's competing for productivity time, but I suppose that just means I still have plenty of video ideas for the years to come!

There won't be a video specifically commemorating the occasion as I'm still working on the next big core video, but I think you'll find the subject of this one fairly entertaining, so please look foward to it! 🫘
