Lots! Few know the many ways in which animation touches our daily lives. For the uninitiated, animation is perceived as a form of entertainment and synonymous with movies, TV cartoons, and advertising; this was largely true until some time.

I've just found Fulonimation Studios' INCREDIBLE Toothless rig and model and I needed to quickly test it.
This rig is amazing, thank you so much for sharing it with us op!!
(Also Toothless is partially a cat. That's a fact.)

Rigging! I don't have a ton to show for this blog post visually as much of my work has been under the hood. Lots of weight painting and, though I should have textured her first, its been extremely fun to make this princess feel right. And frustrating! Though her process is really helping me understand the pipeline.

Additionally, Weighting the dragon is SO MESSY my god she has so many moving parts. Her big ol legs are done though! Her face will easily be the most complex element of the animal to create.
That's all for now, but I do want an excuse to show off some fanart I did on the side. Here's Bill!

Blocking out rough models, animations, and tracking/camera shots for a fight scene on a runaway train I have planned for the pilot episode of Glitch Hunters. It'll look more 2D when closer to finished but this is very early stages nothing here is final lol.

The only animated movie remakes I ever want to see are remakes of classic old CG movies, that keep them CG and just implement newer technologies/techniques to make them look more alive & visually stunning, without any major art direction or plot changes

My most male trait is the "ye I can do that" attitude abt stuff I have no means of actually knowing whether I can do

I also started replaying Final Fantasy 7 the other day (not the remake, since I don’t have it, but the version on the Switch), and honestly, I have to praise the animation
Like yeah, the overworld 3D models are SUPER rudimentary and not very good, but the models have so many animations and things that they do, you can tell the characters’ personalities just by the animations and models themselves. They’re so expressive, even if their faces themselves don’t ever change
I don’t know if this explains what I mean, but like, I was shocked when the characters did a whole backflip. And it’s not like, a frequently repeated animation, they just did that when they got off the train
Also, the game’s camera isn’t centered on you, rather having more of a fixed angle that goes in various directions. Sure, it can be a hassle sometimes, but it lets you see more than one angle on the characters
I don’t know, I don’t feel like you see that much anymore. Maybe it’s just because I don’t play too many 3D games (or modern ones for that matter), but I don’t think I see games with this level of expression in their characters’ animations

Luke training Din
This was the hardest one for me in many ways.
A small detail I've noticed while working on this animation (and it's about shadows again, lol) is that Luke's blade doesn't cast any shadow (as it supposed to) while Darksaber actually does. So I googled it and found out it's made of Beskar (quite obvious I know but I didn't think about it) so the middle part of the blade should cast some shadow I guess (probably depending on the angle)
This time Tumblr compressed the quality dramatically...it hurts my eyes to see those artefacts 😭

Coming in hot! Susie's rig is coming along, as are her textures! I'm literally so tired but here she is! Hopefully, along with Sylvia, she'll be getting some controls on her soon.
Texturing was such a slop with her, as I had to do each plate of armor on a separate UV to avoid a bake issue. BLEUGH!
On to my princess next! if anyone has any names in mind let me know!
Continuing to shamelessly tag this digital circus sorry not sorry LOL
Give me a follow for short film updates!

How to Train Your Dragon audiobook 1
youtube
Good news, it's my turn to pick the book/movie for the book club. We're doing How to Train Your Dragon. The audiobook is only 3½ hours long, it's on YouTube for free, and it's read by David Tennant! Some of the members haven't seen the movie before, so it should be a fun club meeting when we get to watch it together. I hope the book is good too. I've never read it before.
