“When you…when you got hurt protecting Neil I…I went insane a little bit. I just kept seeing, I mean you saw what an Exy racquet can do to a head. I knew that you had your helmet on but that was really the only thing that saved your life.” Aaron’s gaze drops as he starts to explain and Andrew is kind enough to let him continue to not answer the damn question.

“I knew that you’d always put yourself between Neil and everything that was coming after him. I knew that you’d always think of protecting him first.” Aaron swallows thickly, “and…and I knew that if I pushed right then…that Neil would cut you off for your own good. That I could make him think that.” His hands shake and Andrew watches as Katelyn puts her arms around him, offering him the comfort that Andrew found himself lacking the ability to offer.

“Then…it was like a miracle…you didn’t even remember Neil and he took it as the final confirmation that it was for the best that he not be part of your life and I pushed it hard for everyone to let it be.” Aaron admits and he can see tears falling off the tip of his brother’s nose.
