AHHHH YAYYY natsume yuujinchou!! it’s a 6 season and two movies (w/ s7 on the way) anime and a 31 volume and counting manga series by yuki midorikawa. natsume yuujinchou follows natsume takashi (15) who just got taken in by his very distant aunt & uncle. he can see youkai so his family just generally Does Not like him but his new guardians are very kind and treat him well. in this new town he meets the youkai who he nicknames nyanko-sensei who tells him that his grandmother (reiko) could Also see youkai and left him an insanely powerful book (the book of friends) full of contracts she made with youkai by binding their true names in writing… natsume hates this lol and wants to end all the contracts, and so with nyanko-sensei’s reluctant help he begins returning the names to the youkai bound within the book.

the series is SO episodic individual stories rarely last more than two episodes and even that’s rare. he meets various new friends (human and youkai alike) throughout the series like his friend tanuma! who can only kind of see youkai. and taki! who is good at spell circles but can’t see youkai at all. and he also meets many characters he Doesn’t like. like matoba. who is the guy with the eyepatch and who works as an exorcist.

AND LIZARD DUDE. he’s famous actor natori shuuichi (feels wrong not to write famous actor before his name) who ALSO is an exorcist. he’s positioned as one of natsume’s character foils (the other being reiko, natsume’s grandmother) and he’s much more cynical than natsume is and doesn’t particularly like youkai due to his family believing he was a curse for having the ability to see youkai. the lizard is a youkai that crawls around on his skin and doesn’t seem to harm him? but it will not go to his left leg. and seemingly no one knows how to get rid of it 😭

anyways this series is so. fragile. but also so funny. nearly every episode is a tearjerker it’s slice of life it’s action it’s heartwarming it’s so sad. natsume grows so much over the series he becomes so accepting of himself and of others both humans and youkai alike.

Someone please kindly yell at me to finish this multi-chapter romantic AU I've been working on for months. It features Skylar + Leo across the multiverse.

Some of the AUs include:

• Power Ranger AU, with Skylar as the red ranger and Leo as the blue ranger - both of them children of the original rangers

• Assassin/Mark AU, where Skylar has been sent to eliminate American journalist Leo Dooley; and

• the Parallel Universe AU, where Skylar and Jordan are the doctors in Mighty Med, Kaz is the superhero from another planet, Bridget is the hospital's Chief of Staff...and Leo is the only bionic human in the world

Super excited about it, as you can see, but sadly I do lack the motivation to just finish it.

Haven't gotten very far with The Villains of Valley View (just about three, four episodes in), but I wonder: does this take place in a different universe than Lab Rats/Lab Rats: Elite Force?

Because if it does... I'm totally gonna have it as an hc that this takes place in the parallel universe where Leo's the only bionic human on earth.

He's one of the heroes the "Maddens" have gone against 😊

• whenever Bree would get up to try to get something, and she says, "I'll be quick," Leo would always reply with "Not too quick." He used to say it when they're around people who aren't family members, but then he kept the tradition even when the world already knows about her abilities.

It annoyed her to no end in the beginning, but as they get older, it becomes their inside joke.

• Adam once sold his car to a guy at the park in exchange of the St. Bernard puppies he was selling. Donald and Tasha, of course, were mortified and had to go out to bargain with the park guy to get the car back.

Meanwhile, Adam had Bree, Chase, and Leo help him bathe the puppies. He named them that night: Twinky, Snoball, Donut, Zinger, and Cupcake.

Chase frowned as Adam gave him Zinger to dry off. "You named them after Hostess cakes?"

"Yeah?"

"Why?" Bree asked, chuckling.

Adam shrugged. "'Cause I'm hungry."

• Sadly, Adam couldn't keep the puppies, even after telling his parents that he got them to give to his younger siblings. He was extremely down about it, so Tasha talked Donald into letting Adam help them find good homes for the pups.

To Tasha's surprise, her mom and dad decided to adopt one, namely, Cupcake. This made Adam happy, knowing that he can play with and walk Cupcake whenever they visit the Dooleys.

• while the three of them were hanging out, chatting and drinking one night, Tasha happened to mention a coworker who's going through a divorce. "If you guys ever divorce, who's getting the kids?" Douglas asked Tasha and Donald.

The two only stared at him.

"I mean, hypothetically," Douglas insisted.

No one says anything for a while, but when it was obvious Douglas was truly curious and wouldn't drop it, Donald replied with, "I don't know. Adam's almost 19, and Bree's turning 18 next month. We don't have to contest for the two of them. Chase will probably end up with me, and Leo will be with Tasha."

"Why are we even talking about this?" Tasha asked. "Donald and I have no plans of divorcing. At all."

"What happens to me?" Douglas asked Donald.

Donald shot him a baffled look. "Me. You're staying with me," he said. That should have been obvious. "You're my brother."

"Oh." Douglas sat on that information as he picked up some fries. Before washing it down with beer, he muttered, "That's sad."

Donald frowned at him.

"Can I still visit Leo?" Douglas asked Tasha with all seriousness.

Tasha blinked. "Sure?" She laughed, finding this all amusing. "Douglas. Your brother and I aren't divorced. We're not planning to. We're all staying together."

"So I can keep the kids."

"No, Donald and I keep the kids. You get to watch over them and make sure they're happy and safe."

"Like a third parent."

"Exactly."

so I watched Hell is Other People (alternate title: Strangers from Hell). now from spoiler free gifs on tumblr and TWO edits I'd seen on twitter made me assume this was a drama with some petty crime where Lee Dong Wook is a bit quirky insane 🤪

I watched the show in two days. 5 eps each day and GOOD LORD LDW IS SCARY AF AND THERE IS SO MUCH CRIME 😭😭😭 LDW is what drew me to the show but I have to admit Im Siwan is fkn amazing as well. Lee Jung-eun is a (creepy) queen. The rest of the supporting cast is also great. Ugh this show has disturbed me so greatly but what I hate the most about it is how fkn hot LDW looked in all black in the final ep like pls leave my head. I need help. Fin.

My #1 post of 2022

ep 14 had so much. but i felt the most for baek yi jin and ko yu rim. yi jin is the oldest in the gang and even though the others are stepping into adulthood in their own ways, they do not fully understand just how harsh this world could be. baek yi jin had been warned by coach yang that this closeness with the subject could blow up in his face and while it was not hee do but yu rim, it turned out to be worse. this man's family had been a supporter of yu rim for ages but they could not continue due to their own misfortunes. yu rim's family continued to be nice to yi jin's family regardless of their stature. baek yi jin fully knows his duties as a reporter and he understands that him breaking the news would be kinder for yu rim (even though the younger ones do not get it yet). he becomes the bad guy in the story just so he could accurately present the story without sensationalizing it. yu rim gets it though. she understands when she calls him a reporter and asks him to go forth with the questions. but she does not explain this to the others. this is between her and yi jin, who have known each other through thick and thin. guilt-ridden (and due to the nature of his job), yi jin does not see her off at the airport. he finally breaks down at the end of the episode when he just cannot handle how much it hurts. if only he still had the means, he would've paid off all of yu rim's family debts, he knows that in his bones. but life is just so so cruel and we know they both deserve better but what can you do. that's what growing up is.

Elena was offered the position as special host for the episode along with Jaehyun of NCT (which she was pretty happy about bc she had met him through Mark)

This was THE START of her variety show appearances

FIRST OFF let’s start with how Elena just started vibing when the intro song started playing and grabbed Jaehyun to start dancing with her when she saw him just bobbing his head

Did the idol room signature pose together (Elena begged him to do it with her before the shooting and was happy when he actually did it - including the little foot kick at the end - but his ears turned red immediately after)

So GIGGLY at the beginning (mainly bc Elena noticed the tips of his ears were red and he knew that she was laughing at that)

Jaehyun was so supportive when she said it was her first time MC-ing

Not her laughing away the pain when Coni and Doni greeted her nicer than they greeted Jaehyun or the boyz bc she was a girl

Caught looking at Jaehyun multiple times when she wanted to laugh and/or cringe over Doni and Coni’s duo name

The cameras ended up catching her expression at some point and the editors zoomed in on it (pls ppl loved her for this after the episode aired)

So done with the names 😪 ‘Uh... what was it again? HonEy PuPPy?? SuGAr?!? CoMbO?????’

The Boyz English line FELT for her 😭 (would be dying at her expressions)

When Coni was started going on about how tbz’s ‘names are unusual.’ and Elena just went 😄 ‘ah honey sugar puppy, stop playing the MC role.’ (Yes she did in fact start saying it wrong on purpose)

The amount of times Elena and Jaehyun both team up to tell the two to stop acting like the MCs (there IS a compilation somewhere on YouTube)

‘Honestly it was easier remembering the 12 boys names compared to yours!’

When they went after Eric 🙃 ‘Honey sugar puppy! *puts a finger to her mouth* Would you guys stop talking? I’m trying to talk’

Fans ended up making YouTube compilations of Elena looking over at Jaehyun and even smacking him lightly when she wanted to laugh (the way these were made to be a few minutes long so just know, it happened OFTEN)

Fans went crazy whenever Jaehyun told them to stop trying to do a handshake with Elena as she laughed from behind him with a wide smile (he went full on jealous? protecc mode)

Fans loved the two’s dynamic (Elena was the more outgoing one of the two but she made sure to include Jaehyun often which allowed for his personality to show more)

Deobi praised her for intervening when they called out Sangyeon for not talking enough as the leader bc Sunwoo responded to a question

‘Aren’t you doing the same thing! 🤨 I thought me and Jaehyun were the hosts?’

You could tell that she biased the boyz over Coni and Doni (who doesn’t tho?)

Nudged Jaehyun and told him to steal one of the boyz’ candy and put it back on the platter

When she heard BOSS start playing she quickly and gently (not really) pushed Jaehyun forward

Although he had quick reflexes and grabbed her arm pulling her with him (he said if I’m going down, you’re going down with me 🙂)

If you look closely, you can see her dancing in tiny when Hard Carry started playing (best believe she knew the whole choreo 😩🤚🏼 restrained herself though because it was not her time to shine)

The minute she heard Treasure playing she KNEW it was finally her time and immediately made her way to the front next to Q

Almost hit Coni multiple times when she was spreading her arms during the choreo

Jaehyun was just laughing from the back at the chaos (with that smile he always has in those pictures with his members fighting around him)

Lots of netizens complemented her ability to do the choreography with those high heels on

Turned a blind eye when Q pushed Coni (I did not see anything 👀)

Her and Jaehyun both saying it was hard to accept the offer to MC the show at the same time (looked at each other knowingly and bursting out laughing)

Overall, Jaehyun and Elena gained a lot of attention as a pairing (quickly got a lot of contacts to appear on shows together so expect more from these two)

NCTzens want to see more of the two bc of how much more interactive Jaehyun acted in this episode

Some thoughts I had while rewatching the newly released Nightmare Time episodes

i started typing this into a YouTube comment, but it was FAR too long lol, so i decided to post here :)

contained herein are spoilers for Nightmare Time episodes 2 and 3, so if you aren’t caught up with the Hatchetfield Universe by Team Starkid, here’s your warning xoxo

so! here are some of my thoughts on the lord in black...i've noticed differences in their travel/methods of attack

- the blue goo dude, who is obviously the one from The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, came from space. this to me suggests he either began his plot to attack earth/hatchetfield much earlier than his brothers, assuming they come from the other side of the universe or whatever...OR he's been camping out on the moon or a nearby planet, waiting to make his move

- wiggly used portals ("two doors, not one"), which means he can move relatively instantaneously as soon as the door/birth canal is wide enough for him to get through (this also appears to indicate that wiggly is FUCKING MASSIVE lol)

- motherfucking tinky can just teleport through time AND space -- when he appears to Ted (poor Ted! 😭) he vanishes and then appears on the table next to Ted. So tinky appears to be able to move instantaneously, compared to his other brothers

- i'm not sure about blinky and how he arrived in hatchetfield...he seems fairly established in the theme park, so i think he's been around for a very long time, playing a long game

- fuck me i have no idea with fucking mouthface he can stay the fuck away from me. i have to assume with those CHOMPERS that he's gonna pull a mulch-diggums-from-artemis-fowl and munch his way from beneath the earth. i'm NOT looking forward to meeting him lmfaooo he's the worst of the lot imo

- finally, webby seems to appear in the minds of gifted children, although this may just be hannah, who is established to be extremely powerful.

new thought process lol - i wonder if hannah's strength is literally unprecedented, in that no one has ever been as powerful as her, and she's the only one who can defeat the lords of black. there seems to be an especially strong relationship/rivalry/hatred between hannah and wiggly, which leads me to wonder if wiggly is the leader of the lords of black?

speaking of strong rivalries, it seems to me that it's paul vs blue goo dude, ted vs tinky, and bill and/or alice (i'm leaning more towards alice?) vs blinky. by that logic, i have to assume that grace chastity, who i think we all know is going to be the protagonist of Nerdy Prudes Must Die will be the arch nemesis of mouthface. that poor, poor nerdy prude lol.

this got away from me lmfao but let me know what you think. i’m not super sure what it means, but the mystery of this show is incredible and i can’t believe how expansive the world of Hatchetfield feels even after so relatively few shows!
