National Water a Flower Day
Pamper your indoor plants and flowers, and tend to your garden or window pots to make sure all your flowers get a drink on Water a Flower Day.
If it hadn’t been for coffee, cocoa, vanilla, lavender, camomile, marijuana, and many other flowering plants and trees, our world would have been a barren, dismal place. So National Water a Flower Day is that yearly reminder to show our flowers how much we appreciate them for their sumptuous colors, their fragrant blossoms and their medicinal, or sometimes lethal, properties.
Learn about National Water a Flower Day
National Water a Flower Day is a day that recognizes the importance of caring for our garden plants. Just think about how dull the world would be if we did not have beautiful flowers everywhere! Most people would agree that we tend to take flowers for granted. This is because we see them whenever we look out of the window or go for a walk. However, our walks would not be anywhere near as beautiful or peaceful without nature!
Caring for plants can often be a therapeutic act. It is a great way to spend time when you’re looking to de-stress and cut off from work. You are able to focus on the beauty around you, nurturing the flowers in your garden so that they thrive.
Plus, caring for flowers is no easy business! Flowers have their own unique requirements in terms of their optimal growth conditions. Some flowers prefer to be in the shade, others like full sunlight. There are then those that thrive in damp soil, as well as flowers that prefer their soil to be on the drier side.
They may require watering on a daily basis if they are potted. This merely scratches the surface of the different factors you need to consider when caring for the plants in your garden. This highlights why it is important to do your research before you head outside with the watering can!
If you do not give your flowers enough water, this can result in a flower garden wilting and producing barely any blooms at all if any! Overwatering your flowers can be just as damaged, though, as this can drown your plants and cause disease. The best time for you to water your plants is during the morning, ideally sometime between 6 and 10 a.m. The cooler temperature is beneficial because it reduces evaporation and enables the water to remain where you need it, i.e. with the plant. You can help to keep the soil moist by spreading mulch around.
One way you can keep track of how much water you are getting in your garden is by placing a rain gauge outside. You can also find plenty of good magazines, books, and websites that can help you to further your knowledge on looking after the plants you have outside of your home.
History of National Water a Flower Day
The flower is the reproductive part of a plant that creates the seeds. Plants produce fruit and flowers that are called angiosperms. There are almost 300,000 species of angiosperms, and their fruits and flowers can differ significantly.
Flowers and fruits are some of the most useful features for identifying species of plants. A lot of modern cultures see flowers as attractive, and they have fascinated scholars for thousands and thousands of years.
In fact, a first-century physician of Greek called Dioscorides wrote De materia medica, which is considered the most significant early book about plants. This was the first text about the medicinal uses of plants, featuring a lot of diagrams of plants and their flowers. The book assisted other physicians in identifying the sorts of plants to assign their patients for certain sicknesses. It was deemed an essential reference on plants for over 1,500 years.
How to celebrate National Water a Flower Day
The best way to celebrate National Water a Flower Day is by giving all of your household and garden plants an aquatic treat. Also, studies show that gently caressing them in the way that a diaphanous zephyr would in their natural habitat promotes growth, so don’t be shy, give their leaves a tender squeeze. Unless you own a Rafflesia Arnoldii, the largest flower on the planet, which doesn’t have any leaves and is also known as the ‘corpse flower’ due to the odor it oozes when disturbed.
That’s one plant we wouldn’t mind forgetting to water, isn’t it? Best stick to roses and lilies, I say, and water them, stroke, and sing to them as you would to a child. You’ll be a better person for it and you’d make the world a brighter, sweeter, and more colorful place.
You can also use National Water a Flower Day to learn more about flowers and gardening in general. As mentioned earlier, caring for a garden can be a lot more difficult than a lot of people realize. This is because you need to know the optimal growth conditions for your plants. You also need to make sure you plant them correctly, leaving enough space for the roots, as well as planting them at the correct time of year. There is a lot that needs to be taken into consideration, which is why it is a good idea to spend some time furthering your knowledge on National Water a Flower Day.
While the day does encourage you to water your garden flowers, it is important to make sure you don’t overdo it. Drowning your flowers is not going to do them any sort of favors! There are other ways that you can celebrate this day if you have already given your flowers a good watering. For example, you can get involved in some floral arts and crafts. From painting a photo of flowers to even decorating your own watering can, there are plenty of ways to get the creative juices flowing in honor of National Water a Flower Day.

Fluffcember #30 (Vergil x Reader)
Proposal
You huffed out a nervous sigh, legs actually trembling as you made your way down the road to the beachside cliff where Vergil had agreed to meet you. The plan was simple: Get him over there, admire the view over a bottle of wine, and then pop the question. Easy, right?
Your brain sure didn't think so.
You were basically a pile of anxious nerves; your stomach burned with anticipation, giving you that feeling commonly referred to as "pins and needles". Your mind was swirling with a storm of crazy possibilities, each imaginary outcome worse than the last. You sucked in a shaky breath, clenching your fists tightly in an attempt to calm yourself, one that didn't work. If anything, it made you feel worse; your heartbeat increased by several pulses per second and your mind started to feel foggy. Uneasily, you reached into your pocket and pulled out the small velvet case that contained the engagement ring you were going to present. The ring was made of silver, a 1 carat diamond sat at the very center, glistening in the sunlight. With a determined sigh, you snapped the case shut and slid it into your pocket. You were going to do this, nerves be damned. With newfound confidence, you strode down the road and soon reached the agreed-upon rendezvous site: A beautiful, grassy cliff that overlooked a sprawling, glittering, yellow sanded beach. Beyond the beach was the sea, pelagic and frothy, waves gently crashing against the shore, dampening the sand in the process. Your bread hitched when you saw who was waiting for you at this senic location.
Vergil.
He looked as handsome as ever, standing there, admiring the view. Upon your arrival, he turned to you and smiled that heart-melting smile of his. "Good evening, Y/N." Your earlier resolve instantly evaporated; just beholding this man's beauty was enough to make your knees weak. "Hi...Vergil." You greeted, meekly, before quickly realizing that was not the appropriate response for such a greeting. "I-I mean good evening to you as well, Vergil..." You hastily corrected yourself before hurrying to stand next to him so you could hide your growing blush, or so you thought. Vergil smirked and took your chin delicately in his hand, tilting your head so you'd have no choice but to endure that searching, soul piercing glare. "You're blushing," Vergil stated, the sweet smile still present on his face. You averted your gaze, fidgeting with your fingers absently. "I am..?" You asked, trying not to seem too jittery. "Must be because you're looking so fine tonight." Sure, it was a rather clichéd and overused line, but it worked. Vergil released you with a huff of contentment; his response to compliments. He then reached down and pulled a wine bottle and two bottles out of a bucket filled with ice cubes. With minimal effort, he popped the cork out and divided the wine into the two glasses. The two of you sat down on the grass, arms around each other, enjoying the view while sipping the wine. "Lovely place you picked out, Y/N," Vergil remarked, after some time. "You think so?" You replied, grinning happily. "Thanks." Vergil slung an arm around your shoulder and squeezed it gently. "You have wonderful taste." You chuckled, resting your head on his shoulder. "Thank you." Vergil smiled again, kissing your forehead softly. "I love you, Y/N. Very much." You chuckled, feeling pins and needles reform in your stomach. "Well, now's a good time as any," You thought, pulling away and standing up, much to Vergil's confusion. "Verg," You began, sucking in a deep breath. "I have something to ask you." Vergil's brow furrowed as he stood up and folded his arms before you. "Sure, what is it?" You cleared your throat, dropped to one knee, and fished the velvet box out of your pocket. You held it up in front of him and opened the box, showcasing the beautiful ring within. Your nervousness gone, you finally asked the question you'd been waiting all night to ask.
"Vergil, will you marry me?"
Vergil's icy blue eyes widened in surprise, his mouth dropping open ever so slightly. "Y/N..." He gaped at you for a few moments before nodding decisively. "Yes. Yes, I will marry you." An elated grin spread across your face as you plucked the ring out of the box and slid it onto his finger. Then you stood up and kissed him, feeling him wrap an arm around your waist protectively. "I love you so much, Y/N." He said, once you'd pulled away. "I love you too, Vergil." You replied, throwing your arms around his shoulders. "This ring is beautiful." Vergil remarked, raising his hand to the sunlight so the diamond shone and glittered like the magnificent jewel it was. "Not as beautiful as you," You returned, kissing his cheek. "But I'm glad you liked it."
It was official: The night had gone well, the plan worked, and Vergil was now your fiance.

Sparks tour 2023 part 3: The Royal Albert Hall - show #2
Got to be honest: I was falling apart at this point during the tour. It had been another night of only managing to sleep about 2 hours at most and after a full week of sleeping 2 to 5 hours a night it unfortunately became clear my breaking point had now been reached: I was feeling so ill from sleep deprivation. In the morning I wasn't sure I'd be able to go to the show, but I could be upright when the time came so the show was on! 💕 ...even if perhaps I would have to stay seated the entire time, which felt like it would be somewhat acceptable because we were seated about as far from the stage as possible this night. I ended up not remaining seated though, we're talking Sparks here after all, but please keep in mind that there might have been more to the show than I can relay. (Also, once again, a big thank you to my tour buddies! :))
Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer
I'd gotten super hooked on his song Looking Forward To Leaving by now and I had sung it quite a bit back at the hotel now that I'd caught more of the lyrics so I was super stoked to hear it again this evening, regardless of how I was feeling 🌞 I also especially enjoyed his incorporated dance moves for this song, so at this night that was my recording choice when it came to his set. You can see and hear it below :) Mr.B had also incorporated a little sales pitch for The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte this evening which was beautiful. *big thumbs up*
youtube
Before Sparks came on we could spot @nocribdoll from where we were seated and said hello from a distance by means of banana dance which was both great and effective! We also spotted Edgar Wright in the audience which was cool - we're so lucky that he was the one to make the documentary, with him being such a big fan ^^
Sparks
Sparks entered the stage to another big and beautiful applause. There was a little mess up with the first line of So May We Start which was soon caught and rectified, and honestly there's something to be said about opening one's second Royal Albert Hall show with the line “they hope that it goes the way it's supposed to go”. I for one very much respect that, and the way Russell immediately switched to the right lyrics was so impressive that it made me question if what came before had happened at all. (I'm partially sorry to be highlighting a mess up, but I just really liked it and there is footage.)
The audience was so amazing yet again, and we again got to enjoy one of those especially grand applauses already when we were just two songs into the show 💖 and, there was a small change in the setlist: they played VERONICA LAKE! Russell gave the song a proper introduction (a little history lesson with Sparks, if you will👌🏻) The performance was intense and beautiful and I really loved when the instrumental part hit :) (Unfortunately it later turned out to have been instead of Escalator (nooo my beloved!!!), but getting to hear Veronica Lake live really was a treat!)
The only upside about my tiredness was that I sucked a little less with capturing parts of the show in a less bouncy manner, but it's still Sparks so... (who was I kidding with “maybe I'll stay seated”💖) I captured a little bit of Music That You Can Dance To because it's a song I'm so keen to remember at every show and then it was time to dance our asses off and bring the party to this balcony! (We may have been far away, but we were front row in our section, so we started the party here just as much as we'd have done anywhere else in the hall ✨) I did a little banana at the right point in the song too, which funnily enough @nocribdoll managed to spot me doing 😂 I captured bits of Beaver O'Lindy (something I hadn't been able to resist on any night anyway because it is so special live), Russell's introduction to It Doesn't Have To Be That Way (ever since first seeing the show it was clear that his introductions to it were amazing and a little different every night), and Toughest Girl In Town (because of it being one of the most special songs to @dinkydiamond, and it just being great in general obviously ^^) But I think most of all I was capturing a lot of applause between songs, because the sound of these large audiences really was something that set the Royal Albert Hall shows apart 💕
When Gee, That Was Fun started the sadness really hit - nearing not just the end of this show, but also our part of the UK tour and that would mean saying goodbye to friends. (I couldn't listen to the song for a while after shows because it made me miss everything too much.) Luckily that's of course not where the show ends, we still had more applauding to do and we had an encore left! I really treasure A Love Story live and I could not love the choice for it as part of the encore more. I had loved it so much every night so far but it was cool as hell to see it from this perspective, facing the stage straight on yet far away. Those light effects *really* hit in full force when you can see the whole of it. (Not over the voice Russell does in parts of that song btw. SO GOOD.)
Apart from Veronica Lake there had been no major changes to the show, but why change a winning game? Edgar Wright took the audience photo once more, and the audience once more swayed its torches for All That. My memory is terrible in remembering any jokes that may have been made at this show (hell, I can't even remember Balls, my dearly beloved 😭) but at the end Russell blew a kiss up to @nocribdoll which was beautiful and I had accidentally captured him doing so, which wins :) They had to leave the stage a bit more swiftly than the previous night because Russell said they had a thing in the morning, but the applause had been so amazing yet again 💖
Tumblr media
…And so ended the adventure of Sparks at the Royal Albert Hall.
Outside of the venue conversations were flowing like usual but as anyone present will know: I really was too broken to partake at that point. I had half a mind to go say thank you to Mr.B but having taken two steps in the direction of the merch table I already turned around knowing very well I couldn't do it this night. Somehow I still had managed to bring sufficient enthusiasm and energy to the show though, which honestly was a relief! 😌✊🏻 I'm really glad the power of Sparks had simply been too strong for me to remain in my seat. (There even had been a random guy on Twitter who had sat behind us in the balcony who had given us a shout out and had posted a picture of us dancing! I'm very fond of that photo, thanks random guy!)

Baghera: [To her chat in French] I'm talking really fast so it doesn't get translated, but his voice is incredible, I'm gonna lose it–
Nobody on the QSMP was immune to Fit's voice, but Baghera's reaction to it still makes me laugh a lot (especially because Ramon called her out on it).
Tumblr media
HUGE thank you to @/lmorphos for translating Baghera's comments, I couldn't have made this edit without them. Translators are the backbone of our community, and I really appreciate the help.
[ Full Subtitle Transcript ↓ ]
Fit: This way, my boy.
Baghera: [To her chat, in French] I'm talking really fast so it doesn't get translated, but his voice is incredible, I'm gonna lose it–
Baghera: [In English] Sorry. [She checks the subtitles]
Fit: You remember which one it is, right Ramon? Yup, there you go.
Baghera: [In French] Of course it's written...
Fit: Alright, so then here we have like the television area and like, the sofa...
Baghera: [After a brief pause] Sorry! Ok! It's- it- it- it's real– [Laughs] It's minimalist, but I- I like it!
Fit: And then here's Ramon in front of his house...
Baghera: He seems very polite in this picture.
Fit: Yes [Laughs] Yes, he's very... less-violent in that picture. [...] So, I'll take you to the library– this way. Right, over here, just alley- [...] So this is like the library, it's not finished yet, but we're working on it. Um.
Baghera: Ok, it's really– [Laughs]
Fit: [Laughs] Oh yeah, watch your step, Pomme. Alright.
Baghera: [Gestures at the camera silently]
[...]
Fit: That's not a bad idea! Yeah, we could do that.
Baghera: I dunno! Maybe just cats.
Fit: Oh, maybe. [Laughs] Maybe a cat's– yeah. No dogs, just cats.
Ramon: wait, you like fit voice?
Baghera: Uh, Ramon– Yeah, yeah! He got a really nice voice. You do.
Fit: Oh, thank you. Thank you, thank you. Um, Ramon– don't embarrass me. [He accidentally hits Ramon] Hey, no– Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean– I'm not– I did not mean to do that, Ramon! That was an accident, I–
Ramon: [Climbs down the ladder and runs away]
Fit: Ramon! I did not– No, Ramon!
Baghera: [Laughs] Are you ok?
Baghera: [To chat, in French] Damn– you guys are bastards! Ramon is a snitch! Pomme, Ramon is a snitch! I- I don't have problems with snitches, but he's a snitch!

Miracles à plume
Défit d’écriture 30 jours pour écrire, 1er août
Thème : vivantes/après la fin du monde
. .
