âYou created the Siberian,â Legend said. âThe Siberian killed Hero. Every action has effects. Stupid, mindless arrogance, and look at what it cost you. Heroâs death spelled the end of our best years, countless members of the Wards and Protectorate were disillusioned.â âOne could argue,â the Number Man said, âthat his death spurred others forward. He was a martyr.â âIâm sure heâd be comforted by that argument,â Legend said. His voice was hard. Days of pent-up anger were now being given a voice. âYou told us this would be a net gain for the good in the world, more heroes.â âIt has,â the Number Man said. âLess than we hoped, but a net gain nonetheless.â âGray Boy?  Siberian?  Human experimentation?â âYes to all of the above,â Doctor Mother said. âI wonât lie to you at this juncture.â
I don't know if we can entirely blame Cauldron for Siberian, that's an out there edge case. We can blame Cauldron for not killing Manton once they knew what the deal was, and that's still 17 kinds of bullshit.
I also really don't think losing a Tinker who (presumably) was on par with Alexandria and Legend (at least) was worth the martyrdom, and I don't for a second believe that S9 actually added enough Protectorate recruitment, or enough trigger events, to be worth all the dead capes in their path. Not to mention all the dead civilians, but Doctor Mother wouldn't care about that anywat.
As for Case 53s adding more heroes? I mean, if you bothered to actually make sure the Case 53s you sent out into the world were in the hands of heroes, maybe. Instead, you're just as likely to see them going rogue or siding with the villains, or just, being murderous out of control like Garotte was at first (not her fault, I gather, but still). Like, what purpose did release her into the wild accomplish? Also, again, the Nemesis program.
It's true that vial capes raised the heroes (IIRC what I read somewhere right) from being outnumbered 7 to 1 to 3 to 1, which is... really good, and I assume some of the human experimentation was useful in getting those ratios, and stuff, but again, why the selling instead of just 'Path to best person to give this vial to so they're a hero' or 'path to closest person who would be heroic if given powers'?
Like, has Wildbow given us a WoG as to why Cauldron went into the sales approach? I can imagine some reasons, but there's plenty of reasons to at least branch out into just giving vials away too.
I'm not saying 'don't do bad things for a good cause' (in fiction). I would never say that, and if I did start saying that, someone should check me into M/S confinement immediately because I'm clearly not myself, because I mean, look at my track record of favorite characters outside of Worm, but my issue with Cauldron is just they seem so very stupid in their approach.
I do have the benefit of an outside POV, but they have Contessa, so...
I think they just made dumb choices.

it just makes me so angry that the debilitating pain and fatigue endometriosis causes are barely discussed and the disease is always talked about in relation to fertility and pain during penetration. and in the second there's so much pressure on the woman to accommodate and never the suggestion that the male partner needs to have sympathy and find different ways to have sex. sometimes you find a doctor researching or discussing "endo belly" which is one of the terrible symptoms but also such a stupid term to refer to severe painful constipation and with too much emphasizes on appearance and "shame". like can we talk about the chronic pain and fatigue? can we talk about the endometrial tissue causing nerve damage and organ failure? no I'm not talking about my uterus and ovaries exclusively no my concern is not my infertility it's the tissue on my diafragma that has been bothering me to breath
#3 years now and I'm still not used to all the bullshit#I already feel like it's stupid that I have to see an 'specialist' because the average gynecologist doesn't know how to treat the most#common gynecological disease. but then you go to the endo specialist just to hear 'I don't treat pain I treat infertility'#am I a clown???#.txt

dust has definitely killed killer before fighting over papyrus's scarf. killer and dust both have opposing views on papyrus's scarf. killer doesnt like seeing others wear it and (SHUT UP I KNOW ITS NOT CANON!!!!) dust wears it in papyrus's honor and probably for self comfort. killer even ripping a thread on the scarf warrants dust to break his hand (because killer has his silly little backstory where he did the genos and everything hes wayyy more violent towards him than horror bc horror didn't kill everyone (HYPOCRITE!!! HYPOCRITE!!!!)) anyways when killer touches dust's scarf is one of probably the few times he can't win a fight against him
perchance i think dust should get to tear apart killer's soul right infront of his eyes while he screams in pain and dust gives him the coldest look ever to exist (and horror was watching with popcorn :3)
#dont worry killer has checkpoints!#is the process of dying and having to load something killer would avoid#because i dont assume it would? like killer already doesn't give two shits about the pain that fighting would give#i'm sure if he knew that dust was absolutely 500% not gonna give him a chance to win he'd try to back out of the fight somehow#probably by trying to restrain dust or wear him out because dust is genuinely that furious and killer KNOWS he cant win#killer may have 9999 whatever bullshit LV but screw that i wanna put them all on the same power level for fun!#sadly killer will not get out of this one so easily. and then dust manages to turn him into nothing but a bleeding black mess#it is GOREY and MESSY horror is able to watch it straight faced because he's used to gore#i dont think killer would like to die unnecessarily because like. who would ngl. killer's fucked up but not THAT fucked up#but he's already careless with his life anyways so why would he be afraid of death if he can just come back#now im imagining killer letting horror and dust kill him whenever he feels like shit#or when they just need to let some anger out or whatever :3 true love ig idk#horrordust piecing together killer's dismembered and disfigured body like a puzzle :3#where can killer summon save points and that shit anyways??? is it only in smth new??? idk whatever its everywhere in this one ig#anyways i dont think mtt would EVER reach that state of closeness unless its been like 8 years#and they somehow managed not to kill themselves and eachother in the processes idk#oooohhh i reaaaally like the idea of killer letting horrordust kill him#itd be rare that they actually manage to get him off guard and kill him legitimately#but maybe he does it to get their hopes up or smth. when theyre fighting and he wants to toy with them#they know killer will come back. but they still brutalize him and go all out just to hear that beautiful crack#killer's most beautiful when his face is bashed open in horror's eye â¤ď¸đâ¤ď¸đâ¤ď¸đ#dust would prefer it when killer's legs are broken because then he cant run đđđđđđ#least violent mtt interaction#triglycercule this is a bit VIOLENT??? i know i'm concerned too#tricule rant#killer sans#dust sans#horror sans#murder time trio#utmv

This case is making me so fucking angry. theyre using common transphobic language, and also theyre not even HIDING their BLATANT FUCKING TRANSPHOBIA-
Wanna see the poster that made me aware of this current bullshit going on?
The second paragraph. 'Roxy Tickle is a man that wants to be a woman.' Okay, well a simple google search says shes transgender. Going a bit more in depth? She has done Three years of hormone therapy and gender reaffirmation surgery. Like this isnt a transgender woman who has done nothing to change her identity, she's got surgery and 3 years of hormone therapy! And looking more into it? She has said;
"I am now legally a woman.
âI am already allowed to have a female gendered passport thanks to the letter from my GP confirming that they are treating me.
âI only have one step left - to update my birth certificate to say that Iâm female.
âI needed two medical specialists saying they have seen my genitals and they both needed to sign a form in the presence of a JP.
"These are the most extreme levels of identity proof Iâve ever come across â to have to show your genitals to an MD is embarrassing to prove who you are. The documentation has all now been completed and I will mail it this weekend."
That was all 4 years ago. 7 years of this shit now. (as of today, april 11th, 2024)
And the poster still refers to her as a he?
And thats the picture they use. Now heres a better one.
That was deliberate. They used an unflattering photo of her, and a very flattering one of Sall, just to try and tip people to Salls side. Common marketing ploy.
More research shows that she now has her birth certificate identifying her as female.
And this isnt enough?
By her logic, shouldnt a trans man be allowed on giggle, no matter how far through transitioning they are, purely because they were born female? I get the feeling that she would say no. This is simply blatant transphobia. Personally, I cant do anything, being a minor. I'm not sure how far this case is along, seeing as it started 2 days ago.
But I simply cant let this slide. When I saw it this afternoon it made me so fucking angry.
This case could change a lot of things. Make a lot of changes that make everything far worse for non cis gendered people, potentially influencing things world wide

navigating life in a new universe was already a bit of a struggle for Logan... and Wade just had to make it worse (or far, far, far better) by giving him a "house-warming gift".
CW: suggestive, profanity, takes place after the events of Deadpool 3, Wade is actually really hard to write for, Logan deserves the world, comfort, angst if you squint, etc.
"Honey, I'm home!" Wade loudly sang, kicking open the door to Logan's apartment with a dramatic flourish.
"Fuck me," Logan groaned from his spot on the couch, closing his eyes and allowing his head to lull back with annoyance.
This defeated the entire purpose of why he got his own apartment in the first place.
To avoid these types of interactions with the most persistently, consistently annoying asshole in the entire multiverse.
"Now, now, is that any way to talk to the friend who's about to bring your long lost lover back from the dead?" Wade tutted, skipping into the living room, taking notice of the bottle of liquor resting in Logan's hand.
'So it's that kinda morning...'
"Jim Beam at 10 am on a Tuesday?" he noted, "Well, I guess it's five o'clock nowhere... so have at it."
"What did you just say?" Logan sat up straight, brows furrowed as he focused on Wade's previous statement.
"Alcoholics everywhere salute you for taking your liver where no organ has gone before."
"Wade."
"I'm honestly starting to believe you do it for the love of the game rather than the expositional, look how sad he is plot device the author is currently using... I mean, seriously? Can we skip past all this bullshit and get to theâ"
Quickly, Logan grabbed him by the front of his suit, yanking him closer with an angrily confused expression.
"If anything besides a goddamn answer comes out of your mouth... I will stab you in the face," he growled, spelling out each syllable to further his point. "What the hell do you mean bring her back from the dead?"
To Logan, you were everything
The sun. The moon. The air. The clouds.
Despite seeing all the horrible thing he'd done, and knowing firsthand just how much of an asshole he could be, you still smiled at him.
No matter how many times he pushed you away, you were relentless.
Keeping his room together while he was away finding himself.
Making him meals when you noticed he he'd gone without eating.
Forcing him to take breathers after intense sessions in the Danger Room.
For the longest, he couldn't wrap his head around someone like you caring about a jackass like him.
Until he got fed up and just outright asked.
But, as if nothing, you answered:
"Your past makes think you don't deserve love, Logan," you started, crossing your arms over your chest as you leaned up against the counter. "You storm around here with a rude ass attitude and a smart mouth hoping to convince me of that... but if anything, you're only making it worse for yourself."
You smiled, looking up at him with a glint in your eye that sent shocks running down his spine.
"Because in my heart of hearts I know you're a man who wants care and attention, just like everybody else."
With a chuckle, you rested a hand on his shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"And I'll keep shovin' dinners down your throat until you realize that."
Despite having everyone else fooled, you saw right through him, and true to your word, you didn't give up.
With every made bed, every meal, every conversation, Logan felt himself falling deeper into your charm, and over a glass of Jim Beam did he finally realize that he was in love with you.
But, like everything else he cared about in this world, you were taken away from him.
Unable to find your body in the rubble of the mansion, he looked high and low, quite literally going to the ends of the Earth to find you.
But after years of searching with nothing to show for it, he returned to the bottle, drowning himself in sorrow and regret.
Or, at least... until now.
"Well, according to the manual, she's not exactly dead, but she is unconscious," Wade answered, matter-of-factly.
"Unconscious?" Logan's brows furrowed, still quite confused.
Freeing himself from the man's grip, Wade stood up, going back around the couch and pulling out a small tablet from his pocket.
"See, I've noticed your humble abode could use a little sprucing, so I went back to our buddies at the TVA and kindly reminded them that you saved the multiverse and, godammnit, you deserve a reward."
"Get to the fuckin' point, jackass," Logan spat, turning to face him.
"So they sent some men back to your universe and found your girl!" Wade cheered, opening up a portal and reaching his hand in, pulling out a cryo-chamber with you inside.
The moment Logan's eyes met your sleeping face, all color and vibrancy seemed to return to the world.
He was at a loss for words.
You were here... not some dream or hallucination of guilt... but actually, truly, physically here.
"Apparently, some science fuckers were keeping her in a black site and testing to see how long she could go without aging. I won't bore you with the details," Wade explained, pulling out a small knife from his boot. "Now, let's break this bad boy open and meet the future Mrs. Wolverine!"
Before Logan could stop him, Wade stabbed the keypad at the side of the chamber, opening the door and sending you falling forward.
In an instant, Logan dropped his bottle and leaped over the couch, catching you just before you could face-plant on the hardwood floor.
"Watch it!" Logan roared, less than happy that you'd only been there for about three minutes and Wade had already almost broken your nose.
"I am so sorry!" Wade gasped, his hands slapping his cheeks in shock. "I didn't think she'd actually fall out the chamber when they told me she'd fall out the chamber... Nice save, though, Romeo."
Turning you over, Logan cupped your cheek, the chill of your skin already beginning to warm.
But you were still out cold, limp in his grasp as he held you close to his chest.
"She's not waking up..." Logan noticed, brows furrowed. "Why the hell isn't she waking up?"
"Easy there, tiger. They told me how long it takes varies from person to person," Wade assured, shutting the portal. "Some take minutes, others hours. It could be a couple of days before she even opens her eyes."
An expression of solemnity slid over Logan's face as he gazed over yours, your skin still so flesh colored, it looked as if you were sleeping.
Just as soft and tender as he remembered.
And he had full intentions on keeping it that way.
Tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, he ghosted his hand over your cheek.
In that moment, he swore to himself that he'd never leave you again.
He'd be a friend, a bodyguard, a lover, whatever you wanted, but no matter his title, anything that wanted to harm you would have to do so over his dead body.
And even then he'd force himself to get back up and fight.
This world was giving him a second chance at life, a second chance at a life with you, and he'd be damned if he let anything ruin it.
Suddenly, you took in an aggressive gasp, scaring the shit out of Wade as your eyes snapped open.
"Holy fucking shit nuggets!" he jolted, jumping from his spot across he room as Logan allowed his shoulders to sink, mumbling a quiet thanks to whatever god or deity brought you back to him.
Feeling a strong set of arms cradling you, you looked up, solace setting into your bones at the sight of the familiar man before you, who was unable to stop the few joyful tears escaping his eyes.
"Loganâ"
Without a moment's hesitation, his lips were on yours, making up for what felt like a lifetime of loss by dumping all of his passion, all of his love, all of his devotion into one Earth shattering kiss.
You melted into it seamlessly, your hand finding home in his scruffy hair as he pulled you flush against him, clutching you with a death grip.
Donning a cheeky smile under his mask, Wade turned away to give you both a moment, thought not without making a crude sex gesture behind his back.
'I don't think Miss (Y/N)/Girl Sitting At Home Reading This is gonna be able to walk tomorrow...'
With a gasp, the two of you separated, Logan's hand raising to cup your cheek, relishing how easily you leaned into him.
"(y/n)... I thought I lost you," he panted, his eyes scouring over your face, committing every detail to memory.
"For a while, you did," you sighed with a grin, carding a hand through the few gray strands in his hair, before comparing them to your own. "Time looks good on you."
He chuckled, quietly relieved you still found him attractive after all these years.
Sitting up, you wrapped your arms around him and pulled the man into a bone crushing hug, nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck.
"I'm not really sure what happened... or how I'm alive..." you weakly laughed, starting to get choked up. "But I know that if you go out drinking without me ever again, I'm putting your head on a spike."
Instantly, Logan's arms wrapped around your waist, holding you reverently as if he let go for one moment, the powers that be would part him from you.
"I swear on my life... I'll never let anyone hurt you again."

BREAK UP - L. HEESEUNG
Pairing: heeseung X fem reader
Warnings: crying, break up, angst, cursing, heartbreak, arguments.
Word count: 2,072k
Note: I'm just writing a few drabbles for now, hoping to get my engagement up a bit. This is really rushed, so itâs not good, but oh well.
Part 2 Part 3
-
âBabe, when are you coming to bed?â
Itâs twelve am, and you have been waiting hours past your bedtime so you can finally go to sleep with your boyfriend for the first time in literal months.
Itâs been a while since he started working from home, and you thought that would free up some space for you both to spend time together.
You thought you guys could go back to normal like how you used to be but now it seemed like he worked even more after being able to work from home on top of his promotion.
You received no answer, and you sighed. This had been going on for months, him ignoring you and solely focusing on work. You disappointedly slipped under the covers so you could patiently wait for him to be finished.
Staring at the clock, you counted down every minute until a full thirty minutes passed.
You decided to give it another go thinking half hour may have been enough time for him to conclude his work. âHoney, itâs so late,â your voice is groggy, eyes half opened, and youâre still worried about your boyfriendâs well-being. How could you not be when he barely ate and barely slept anymore? The last time you two spent quality time together was so long ago you couldnât even remember. âPlease come to bed. I know youâre tired.â
He snaps at your words, only increasing the annoyance that he currently feels. âCan you just stop talking, damn?!â He agitatedly shouts out of nowhere, turning his head in your direction with an angry expression plastered on his tired features.
Startled by the sudden loudness of his tone you jumped a little bit not used to him speaking to you that way. âS-sorry I was just worriedâ you tucked back under the covers your heart aching in your chest cause of what he said to you.
He was always on edge lately, but you never received that type of treatment from him. Ever even in your five years of dating, he has always been respectful to you.
âYouâre sorry?â he scoffs. âYou should be sorry Iâm the one working hard every day to provide for you and all the frivolous bullshit you buy, and this is the thanks I get. Do me a favor and stop fucking bothering me while Iâm working,â he rubs his temples, turning his attention back to his computer.
It most certainly wasnât the first time heâd said such harsh words to you after your constant nagging for him to eat and sleep more, but this was the first time you felt pure anger from him, and it worried you cause he was never this bad before and you feared that as time went on like this it would just get worse.
âO-okay.â You looked at his stressed back, noticing how tense his shoulders were, and you felt bad knowing he was taking on all of the work to provide for you both. Apparently, all you were doing was bothering him, but you werenât doing it intentionally. âI guess itâs a crime to care about my boyfriend.â Your voice broke a little, and you turned your back to him, calling it quits for the night. He could come to bed whenever he wanted.
âYou know what?â He shuts the computer and sighs. âI think.â he pauses for a moment, the silence getting the best of your nerves cause you were scared about what he was going to say. âWe should just break up.â
His words dangle in the air for minutes, and within those minutes, you feel tears pricking your eyes and your heart breaking into little tiny bits. âHee-â you sat up now, looking at him with your bloodshot eyes.
âI know youâre going to run down every reason why we shouldnât, but Iâm done. Iâm tired of this, and Iâm tired of talking. I canât do it anymore, and nothing you say can ever change my mind.â
Youâre left absolutely speechless too stunned to even say anything not to say he would want to hear it or listen now anyway.
Youâve spent so many long years of your life with him that you couldnât see yourself being with anyone else besides him you thought that he was your happy ever after and to hear him say he wants to break up felt like a dream a very bad dream never in your life did you ever think heâd say the words but he did and it came out so easily like heâs been wanting to say it but only now decided to.
And the thought made you upset because if heâs been feeling this way for this long why did he even bother to string you along knowing he didnât see a future with you anymore after your guys relationship went downhill?
In the midst of your thoughts his voice brings you back to the present. âIâll call your mom in the morning so you can get all your stuff and be out by tomorrow.â You donât respond, and the only thing you hear for the next few hours is typing on a keyboard.
You would go to the sofa, but youâre literally glued to the bed, paralyzed by grief.
The tears wouldnât stop flowing, and they definitely didnât stop once he came to bed. If anything, they got worse when you felt his warmth so close to you but yet so far away.
He tried slipping his hand around your waist, but you slapped it away. âDonât touch me,â you say through your heartbroken cries.
He immediately retracted his hand, a little surprised at first by how quickly you rejected his touch.
He didnât care really he just thought it might comfort you a little so you could sleep since youâve been up crying for literally hours but it didnât matter one way or the other to him as he turned on his side and shut his lamp off.
Heeseung slept soundly while you lay awake, crying every last tear you had left in you.
-
When morning struck, heeseungs alarm woke him up. His eyes shot open, and he quickly grabbed his phone, turning the awful sound off.
He turned towards your side of the bed and patted the soft material in search of your warmth, but he found none.
His eyes opened, and he was met with a few luggage bags that looked to be packed already. He sat up confused for a moment until memories of last night flooded his mind.
He heard a rustle coming from the closet, and you appeared a second later, already fully dressed this early in the morning. Usually, you would still be asleep when he started work.
But obviously, today was different.
His eyes shifted throughout the room. Most of your stuff was already gone.
As you walked to each end of the room collecting your stuff, his eyes followed you, watching your every movement.
The moment he saw you grabbing all your ornaments, he felt an ache in his chest.
You didnât have much in the bedroom, but those little ornaments had you written all over them, and it was one of the few things that made it obvious to him that he wasnât living alone, and seeing them all getting wiped out made him feel sick to his stomach. âY/n?â He mumbled out while nervously picking at his nails.
You didnât answer. Of course, you didnât. He said he was done talking, and so were you. Last night, you came to terms with this. It took hours, but you just accepted it.
You had to.
Were you going to miss him?
Yes.
Was it going to hurt?
Yes.
But you didnât want to be in his life if he didnât want you to be in his.
You continued to pick up the little porcelain cat decorations, and thatâs when he decided to slip out from under the covers and walk over to you, standing behind you and taking the figurine from your hand, setting it back down where it had been sitting for the last couple of years. âIâm sorry,â he whispered in your ear while back hugging you, the warmth of his bare chest sending electricity throughout your body. âAbout last night, sweetheart, I was just tired and said a lot of things I didnât mean, and I know that it sounds like a shitty excuse, but I really didnât mean it, baby. Iâve just been so stressed lately, and I hate myself for taking it out on you. Iâm so sorry I made you cry.â he closed his eyes, inhaling your scent, the one heâd been missing for months.
You hated yourself for the way you melted into his arms after all the things he said to you last night, but itâs just been so long since you felt his touch on you that you couldnât help it.
You leaned into him, his body pressing flush against yours. It felt so good being in his strong arms again.
But as fast as you melted, you hardened up even quicker, slipping out of his grasp.
You started packing up your things again, keeping a good distance from him because right now you know you could easily forgive him, but you didnât want to because thereâs no way he could say what he said to you last night and change up so quickly in the morning you werenât falling for it.
When you walked by him, he quickly extended his hand, grabbing you by your elbow, pulling you into his chest, and hugging you closely. âLittle one, please forgive me.â he rested his chin atop your head, stroking your back softly. âI need you. Love, without you, I donât have anything, you know that. Remember, Iâve told you so many times everything I do is all for you. I know I made a mistake, but Iâm sorry. Please forgive me, please?â His voice shook slightly, and you could feel just how fast his heart was beating against your chest and the words were on the tip of your tongue, but for the way you feel right now, you think breaking up would just be for the best.
You two were living different lives, and the compatibility wasnât aligned anymore. As much as you hated living a life without him, the thought of living a life where he was working and you were being neglected was something you hated even more.
Your breath got caught in your throat the moment his lips pressed against your neck. âPlease,â he begged in between each soft kiss he left on your neck. âSay something, please,â he sniffles softly and rests his palms over your stomach.
You peeled his hand off your body, turning around to tell him that you were done straight to his face, but it was so hard cause he looked absolutely distraught. âHeeseung, Iâm leaving, and thatâs final.â
The sob he let out almost made you break down in tears yourself. He tried to cover it by cupping his mouth, but it was too late. It was one of the most heartbreaking things youâve ever heard from him, and you had to leave now before you ended up forgiving him.
You quickly grabbed your things, wheeling them to the front door with him close behind you. âI canât let you go, y/n. I-I love you.â his arms were secured around you again, and you stood there, trying to remain as emotionless as possible until he finally let go of you. âSo thatâs just it? What am I supposed to do without you, baby?â He asked warm tears running down his cheeks he looked so sad and vulnerable.
âYou said you were tired of talking, and at this point, so am I. Goodbye, heeseung. I hope work treats you better than I ever could.â You unlocked the front door and opened it.
âY/n-â
âEnough!â You shouted at him, losing your patience finally and letting all your months of pent-up anger get the best of you.
He stood there completely stunned by you raising your voice at him, and it left him speechless.
Even though his mouth was parted like he wanted to say something, the words just never made their way out.
The last thing you saw before slamming the door was his sad, tearful expression, but this was what he asked for, and he got it.

âGirl, what the fuck do you mean you haven't called this man back?â my best friend Monica snapped at me. âI just needed to let one off. I was horny and tired of going on pointless ass dates,â I said groaning back at her.
We were walking into a party her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Jordan, was hosting. There were cars everywhere, and people littered the front lawn of the small house. The music was blasting from the backyard, and the noise consumed the quaint neighborhood.
A cloud of smoke spilled from the rear of the house and engulfed the porch and lawn like a dense fog. The combined thickness of the smoke from the barbecue grill and the heat from the ocean of bodies added to the intensity of the sweltering Southern heat. I was beginning to regret my decision to wear all black.
âYou need yoâ ass beat. How the fuck do you let a man dick you down like that and let him get away?â Monica asked cutting across the lawn to enter through the side gate. âI just didn't want anything else,â I said shrugging my shoulders and following her closely. She opened the gate so that we could both walk in. âLook, Monnie. Iâm not ready to even entertain a man and his bullshit,â I continued as I closed the gate behind us. âYou could have at least kept him as a fuck buddy, âVana, like seriously. Come on. Here we are living in a world where women die never even coming close to experiencing what you did, and you just let him disappear. Are you fuckin' crazy, girl?â she turned to grab my hand.
Monica was trying her hardest to pull us through the swarm of people. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her behind me. âWhere are we going?â I asked. âOver by the gate. Jordan's waitinâ with his friends,â she said. I used one of my hands to hold her body flush with mine while the other gently pushed people out of the way.
Once we made it to the other side of the backyard, Monnie spotted Jordan. She pulled herself from my grasp and went to talk to him. He looked down at her and smirked. He was crossfaded. I knew what this meant for me. I would have to hear them go at it like animals all night or get a hotel room. Now, I will NEVER be jealous of my girl getting hers. Don't get me wrong. It's just that Monnie sounds like a âpalm-coloredđđťâ pornstar when she moans, and I only watch Ebony for a reason.
âAh, shit,â I said palming my face. âWhat?â Monnie asked with her eyes still locked on Jordan. âI know what that face means. Jordan finna turn you every which way but loose!â I laughed out loud. Monnie looked at me and burst into laughter. Jordan pulled his cup to his lips and peeked over the rim at me. âAs long as Monnie baby knows,â he said peering back at her. âOouu, shit. Don't start with me, J!â Monnie said pulling him by his collar. They were chest to chest now.
âJust go in the damn house already!â I said laughing at the two of them. They were like two feral dogs in heat. They couldn't look at each other without lust taking over. This is an everyday thing for them. âFuck it. Bye. See yaâ!â Monnie said grabbing Jordan and pulling him towards the house.
âNasty dogs,â I said laughing to myself. I stood with my back to the fence and began scanning the party. I couldn't find anyone I knew. I saw a guy who looked slightly familiar, and I assumed he was one of Jordan's friends. I looked him over trying to see if that was the connection. He was standing in a smaller crowd of men.
His head turned slowly, and his eyes caught mine. They were deep-set and a warm dark brown. He turned his body to face me. He was tall and dark-skinned. This man's skin was ebony in every facet of the word â smooth and shiny. He bit his lip and winked at me while running his hands across his low-cut Caesar.
I smiled back at him and waved shyly. He nodded back towards me. He leaned in closer to the group of men saying something that caused them to turn around. I instantly became a little uncomfortable and self-conscious. I hated male attention when they were in groups. It made me feel objectified.
He began to walk towards me with a slow and deliberate gait. His stride was graceful yet steady. His large frame cast a large imposing shadow across the ground. His lean upper body was struggling to hide beneath the thin fabric of his white T-shirt. He appears to be at least 6 feet tall. I've never had a type, but this man was doing something to me.
I pushed my back from the tall wooden fence. âHow you doinâ?â he said leaning over me. His hands were in his pockets. He pulled his hands out slowly and grabbed mine. âFine, and you?â I asked looking up at him. âBetter,â he said licking his lips. They were plump and pink. My eyes followed the movement of his tongue across his lips. âThat's cute, love. I kinda feel like I know you from somewhere,â I said looking away from him. âNah, I'd remember you faâ sure,â he said smiling.
He leaned in closer to my ear. His breath was warm against my skin. âYou right about that,â I said cocking my head to the side. He leaned up to look me directly in the eyes. âYou a cocky sumthinâ, ain't you?â he said laughing. âI like that shit,â he continued while smiling at me. âCocky? Me?! Never, baby. I'm just a professional shit-talker. That's all,â I said laughing into his chest. âA professional shit talker? So, you enjoy talking shit, huh? What comes with that?â he asked shifting his weight to gently push me back against the fence.
I paused for a second. I pulled my bottom lip in, biting it lightly. âFuck around and find out,â I said barely above a whisper. I made sure I was looking him directly in his eyes before I spoke. âOouu, you⌠Lord, woman!â he laughed out loud. âSee. I already got you calling for the Lord, and I ain't even touched you yet,â I giggled into my hand. He used his hand to play with the frizzy hair at the nape of my neck. I chose to wear my hair in a wash-and-go, but it was being destroyed by the humidity.
âSo, what would happen if you touched me?â he asked tracing small circles on my scalp. âIt depends. You wanna hear God, or do you wanna see him? I can do both if I like you,â I said placing my hand on his bicep. âDamn! That's how you cominâ?â he asked grunting. âAnd I thought I was doing sumthin' with the stars and the moon,â he said placing his hand on my hip. âMaybe you just need a little encouragement,â I said rubbing up and down his arm. âHmm, encouragement?â he questioned while raising a single eyebrow. âYou know⌠just a little talking to get you through it,â I said resting my hand on his shoulder.
âTalk me through it then,â he replied as he gestured for me to continue. His hands were now on both sides of my hips. âWe're in public. You sure you can handle that,â he said tilting his head again. I leaned in as close as I could. âBefore I continue, do you like Big Daddy or Good Boy? I need to know for my pleasure,â I asked snaking my hand to the side of his neck. I used my thumb to stroke his jawline. âWhat's the difference?â he asked. âWell, if I'm taking care of business, you're a good boy. However, if you're taking care of business, it's Big Daddy. Understand?â I asked gripping the side of his neck firmly. âMmmm⌠shit. I think I do,â he grumbled dropping his head. âNo, baby. It's either you do, or you don't. I don't like indecisiveness,â I said angling his head back up so that his eyes met mine.
âWhat's your name, mama?â he asked. âHavana, but you can call me âBig Mamaâ,â I said snickering into my hand. âIâm Xavier, so you're Big Mama, huh?â he asked sinking his teeth into his bottom lip. His eyes were narrowing in on my lips. âThat's only if you're nasty,â I laughed again. âHmm⌠How nasty we talking?â he asked snaking his hands around my hips. âHow nasty can you get, love?â I asked locking in.
He looked up at me like he was stunned by that question. âOk. I don't usually repeat myself, butâŚâ I said while moving gently from his grasp. âI'll be as nasty as you need me to be. How nasty can you get?â he asked. âWell, love. It depends on your performance. Energy is matched around here,â I said watching his eyes linger on me again.
*15 minutes later
Xavier and I had been talking the entire time. He seemed like a decent guy, but I didn't want to make the same mistake twice. I honestly feel like with Terry it was a âright place, right timeâ situation. That's never been my forte. I was usually much more careful and selective when it came to choosing sexual partners. We both share our STD status and the current number of active sexual partners. Moreover, the condom situation was even more of a fuck up for me. I normally supply them myself, so that men can't say shit about not having one. So, when I dropped the ball as badly as I did with Terry, it shook me a little. How could I have been that fucking careless?
âUh oh, don't let her get you in trouble,â Jordan said while approaching. âNigga, I'm not worried about that. My shit straight. What that got to do with anything?â Xavier said turning to dap up Jordan. âWhere's Monnie?â I asked Jordan. âInside. Sheâll be out in a minute,â he said giggling and shrugging his shoulders. âOk,â I said looking back at Xavier because his response to J sounded like a red flag. What was he not worried about? What shit was âstraightâ? Then, why did Jordan shrug like he was saying âwhateverâ? Was this man hiding something?
I pulled out my phone and texted Monnie. I asked her if she knew anything about Xavier. She asked why immediately. I texted her and told her we had been outside talking this whole time. The text she sent said it all.
Monnie: RUN BITCH! GET IN THE HOUSE NOW!
I immediately thought of a lie I could quickly tell Xavier. I needed to get to Monnie now! âShit, Monnie needs me!â I said placing my phone back into my purse. âYou good?â he asked leaning in and grabbing my chin so that I could face him. âYeah, baby. Mama's fine. Be safe alright?!â I said loudly as I walked away. âWhat about your number?â he called out after me. âIf we see each other again, I say it was meant to be,â I said winking at him.
I quickly pushed my way towards the rear entrance of the house. The sliding glass door was slightly ajar so that people could go in and out. I entered the door and was met with a cloud of weed smoke. Fuck, I hated that smell. I walked through the house and searched for Monnie. I sent her a text asking where she was.
Monnie: upstairs bedroom
I walked through the crowded living room and crossed the space to get the stairs. I was at the bottom when I felt hands grab my waist from behind. âWhere you going, fine ass?â said a man's voice from behind me. âPlease, don't do that,â I said removing his hands. I continued up the stairs without looking back. âFat bitch!â he yelled at me from below. I turned around to see who was speaking. All I could say was, âUgh!â
I turned back around to continue up the stairs. I located the door to the room where Monnie should be. I lightly knocked on the door before entering. âFuck are you knocking for? Bring yoâ ass in here!â Monnie yelled through the door. âFirst of all, fuck you. Now, spill it. Tea time, hoe!â I said laughing as I entered the room.
Monnie was sitting on the bed waiting. I closed the door and locked it. I sat on the bed beside her. I turned my body so that I was facing her. âGirl, he ain't shit. Please, tell me you didn't give him your number?â she asked shaking her head. âFuck no! Why?â I asked removing my crossbody and placing it on the bed beside me. âWell, for starters, this nigga has a basketball team of kids. He has 4 baby mamas, and there may be a fifth!â Monnie said chuckling. âDamn, 4 baby mamas, and how many kids?â I asked leaning over to rest my head on my palms under my chin. âI think 8. We don't know a for sure number,â she said casually. âThe fuck do you mean by that. Do y'all not know a for sure number, or does he not know a for sure number?â I asked eagerly. âHe doesn't know himself. He be fuckin' anything that let him. That's why his ass was burninâ last month,â Monnie said laughing and slapping my shoulder.
That's when it hit me. If I had met Xavier last month instead of Terry, I would be burnin', too. âBurnin' from what?â I asked Monnie. I was serious now. âI think Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. He apparently got it from one of his baby mamas. The only reason we found out is because he gave it to his âsituationâ, and she came to his house while we were there and cussed his ass out. Girl! She let him have it,â Monnie said hollering at this point. âThat's so foul, bro. We were literally outside talking hot shit and getting spicyâ,â I said. âOh, he hot shit alright?â she laughed.
*2 hours later
I had left the party around midnight. As I was driving home, I remembered I needed eggs and almond milk for tomorrow. I knew there was only one store still open this late at night. I honestly didn't feel like getting out again, so I decided against it.
As I was driving, I started to see construction signs. They all read different thingsâ âdetour aheadâ, âroad work aheadâ, and âroad closed to thru trafficâ. The detour sign pointed to the right. That would throw off my entire drive because that meant I couldn't use the nearest entrance to get on the highway with the next one being miles out.
I grew annoyed but turned anyway. What choice did I have? The road was dark and empty. It was way too late at night to be forced to take detours. I was growing uncomfortable with the fact that there were no streetlights, and the road narrowed towards the end before a sharp blind curve. People weren't as careful coming around. Most hugged the middle taking up both lanes in the process.
As I approached, I slowed down almost to a stop. I slowly rolled through the corner hugging my side of the bend. Once I could see straight ahead, I noticed a truck on the side of the road. The hazards were on, but I didn't see anyone inside. As I got closer, my headlights beamed against the outline of a figure at the side of the truck near the rear tire. I could tell it was a man by the way his physique looked leaning against the truck's bed.
Getting closer, I began to watch him out of curiosity. His body leaned up, and he seemed to be turning around to look in my direction. He used his hand to shield his eyes from the glare of my headlights. That's when I saw it. The tattoo on the forearm looked likeââ Terry's.
No, it couldn't be. There's no way a random detour put us in the same place at the same time again. The first time we met I wasnât supposed to be at the store that day. I accidentally dropped all of the eggs I had and cracked them. I had a cake order to make, so I didn't have a choice but to go get more. Now, this.
I rolled down the passenger side window a little as I got closer. I cleared my throat while laughing to myself. I slowed to a stop as I got to the rear of the truck. He walked towards the car, but he didn't approach fully. âNeed a ride, handsome. Don't want you out here stranded,â I said in the most country accent I could. The voice I used gave off backwoods barbie. âNah, I'm good. Go on home,â he said trying to look through the crack of the window.
I could tell that the absence of streetlights and dark tints were working against him. He squinted a little more. âOh, come on. I can't leave you out here with all these critters and weirdos. Might take advantage of yaâ, hun,â I said trying not to laugh. âYour olâ man let you pick up strangers this late at night?â he asked. I could sense he was becoming inquisitive. He was searching for any possible signs of this being a setup.
I rolled down the window all the way while hollering with laughter. âWho said we're strangers?â I asked him. His face displayed annoyance and relief. I saw his shoulders drop and his stance loosen. He approached the car fully leaning into the window. âReal funny,â he said smirking. âYou looked scared for a second. I'm sorry. I realized it was you as I was coming up,â I replied with a smile.
âWhat you doinâ out so late, Mama?â he asked tilting his head. I scoffed and waited. He looked at me with a cold stare. He was waiting for an answer. I shrugged my shoulders casually. âParty with some friends,â I said hoping that he would stop staring at me so intensely. âParty, huh? I thought you didn't like parties,â he muttered under his breath. âI heard you, asshole. Yeah, a party. That's what I said, ain't it?â I said gripping the steering wheel tighter. âWatch that mouth,â he grunted lowly. His voice vibrated across the small space of the car. âOr what?â I asked looking over at him.
He stood up and pushed away from the car. He crossed his arms over his chest and shifted his body weight to one side. âI would say I'd put somethinâ in it, but me and you both know you'd like that, âVana. Wouldn't you?â he shot back.
TouchĂŠ, Terry. TouchĂŠ.
âComing or not?â I asked and gestured towards the passenger seat. He shook his head yes and walked towards the driver's side of his truck. He opened the door and grabbed his keys and a backpack. He walked back to my car to get into the passenger side. He opened the backseat first to place his backpack in. I could see the confidence in his step.
My eyes started to wander a bit. He was dressed in a gray T-shirt and dark-wash blue jeans. Slightly wet from sweat, his shirt clung to the muscles underneath. Every detail is etched into my memory. The deep cut of his abs. The veins in his biceps that popped out when he made even the slightest movements. The slight jiggle in his pecs.
Not this again. Get it together, Havana.
I turned to look away as he entered the car. Closing the door, he sank into the seat and sighed. âIâve been out there for a while. Was about to walk back towards Miller to get closer to my place,â he said. I could feel his eyes on me. âWhere were you going?â I asked eyes locked forward. âRandall's,â he said leaning over so that his arm was overtaking the center console. âReally?!â I asked loudly. âYou'll live. Where you want me to put my hands? In my lap?â he asked his voice surging through the small space. âOr would you rather I put them in yours?â he chuckled. âWhatever!â I said pushing his chest and rolling my eyes. I put the car into gear and began to drive.
âDo you mind if I stop at Dixie? I needed to pick up some stuff for tomorrow,â I asked looking at him. âNah. I mean it is where we first met,â he said smiling back at me. I rolled my eyes and continued to drive.
*15 minutes later
We walked through the store side-by-side. He was right on my ass. This man had no regard for personal space. âDo you have to be so close?â I asked pushing him away. âOh, now you got a problem with it?!â he laughed throwing his head back. âFuck you, Terry,â I said in a whisper low enough for only him to hear. âYou sure you want that? You sure you can take it this time?â he questioned while getting closer to me. âYou got jokes, huh? Remember this, sir. You may beat me when I'm on my back, but I can make you cry when I'm on my knees,â I said turning away from him. I heard him grunt and scoff. I peeked over my shoulder to see him smiling at me.
He walked away in the opposite direction. That was fine with me. I needed a small breather. Everything about Terry had me on edge, and the flashbacks from that night weren't helping.
I walked to the rear of the store where the dairy and produce were. I walked towards the coolers that contained the eggs. I picked up an 18-count for now and checked the crate for broken eggs. Finding none, I placed the eggs securely under my arm. I moved to the fridges right beside them to look for almond milkâ unsweetened and vanilla. They were out. I moved to the next fridge and spotted regular unsweetened almond milk. Fine, that would have to do.
I opened the door to the fridge. A cold, crisp air whipped across my face. The milk rested on the bottom shelf. I leaned over to get it. As soon as I reached for the milk, I felt hands on my hips. âHands off, Terry,â I said through gritted teeth. âWho's Terry?â asked a familiar voice. âXavier!â I yelled almost dropping the eggs.
I whipped around and removed his hands from my hips. âHere we are again. You remember what you said? I think you owe me somethinâ,â he said moving closer to me. âThat was before I knew you lied to me,â I said pushing him back gently. I wanted to be assertive but not piss him off. As he got closer again, I could smell the alcohol on his breath. It was much stronger than it was before.
âThe fuck did Monnie stupid ass tell you?â he yelled smacking his lips. âLook. She didn't say anything, love. JustâŚ,â I said trying to push him away from me. His hands came up to my hips again. He gripped the tighter than the first time. âHey, let me go!â I yelled. âOh, come on. You one teasinâ ass bitch,â he yelled again slapping the eggs from under my arms. They hit the ground with a thud. The crate cracked open and egg yolks shot up all over the bottom of my skirt and all over my feet.
I tried to move again and sidestep away from his grasp but to no avail. He grabbed my wrist and yanked me back towards him. My body collided with his. He grabbed my arms and slammed me up against the cold glass of the fridge. My body bounced off from the impact.
His hand reached up as if he were going to hit me. I flinched in fear and closed my eyes. It's as if I stopped breathing while waiting for the hit to land. It never did. I opened my eyes to see Terry grabbing Xavier by his collar. They were close in height but Xavier appeared slightly bigger.
Terry pushed Xavier away from me. Terry threw the first punch immediately after. His hand collided precisely with Xavier's jaw. Xâs head snapped sideways and his body flew backward. Terry watched him as he stumbled. âDon't you ever touch her again!â Terry growled closing in on Xavier as if he was going to hit him again. Xavier cowered and retreated without a word.
Terry turns back to look at me. His scowl sent shivers down my spine. âI didn'tâŚ,â I said struggling to breathe. âHey, you okay? Mama, look at me!â Terry said grabbing the sides of my face. He angled my head so that I was looking up at him. I was trying not to cry, but I couldn't hold back the tears. âI'm sorry I froze,â I said gasping for air. âAy, câmere. Don't do that? Havana, breathe!â he said pulling me into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me hugging me tightly. I wasn't aware of anything around me at the moment.
My thoughts were all over the place. My mind was racing, and I couldn't form a complete thought. âLetâs go,â Terry said holding my hand. He placed the other on my lower back and guided me out of the store. âKeys,â he said into my ear while leaning over me from behind. âHuh?â I said being pulled from my daze. âI need your keys, baby girl,â he said placing his hands on my shoulder.
I reached into my purse and handed Terry my keys. âI know it's late, but I don't want you driving home like this. Do you feel comfortable going with me until you feel better?â Terry said walking around me so that he was now looking down at me. He placed his hands gently on the side of my face again. ââVana, baby. Listen. You gotta answer me, mama. I need somethin' here,â he asked stroking my cheeks. I nodded as I began to cry again.
He placed his hand on my lower back and guided me to the passenger side door. He opened the door for me to get in. I slid past Terry and sat down in the seat.
The memories I had tried to forget came flooding back â my ex. I spaced out for a second. Terry opened the door and climbed in. He adjusted the seat to fit more comfortably to his height. He leaned over one final time and kissed my forehead. âJust promise me that you're okay?â he asked softly. âYeah, I'm⌠I'm okay,â I said sniffling.
*20 minutes later
I stood in Terry's bathroom waiting for the shower to warm up. I was leaned back against the sink while fighting to remain consciously present. I hated it when things triggered me and brought me back to that place. I had worked so hard to never deal with this again. All those years of therapy, and for what? How could what this man did still take such a toll on me? Tonight, I felt like I regressed tremendously.
I stood up and walked to the glass shower door. I slid it open and reached in to feel the water. It was more than ready. I just wanted to get in and wash away all of tonightâall of the egg yolks, all of the fear, all of the anxiety, all of it.

No Longer Yours
James Potter x Female!Reader
A/N: Hello everyone! Now, I know I took so long to post this part but I wanted to think out everything and understand the direction of where the story is going! Thank you to everyone who was understanding and continued supporting me and this story, thank you so much!
IB: In The Cold November Rain by @sweetsweetjellybean (This is truly amazing guys and what truly inspired this entire series so please check it out!)
Summary: James had disregarded you for multiple years, but when you have an epiphany in your final year, how does it feel to taste his own medicine?
Warning: It may contain swearing, use of weed, and soon-to-be smut.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
The fresh sunlight peaked through the curtains in your room right onto your face as you squinted. Nothing like a beam of light hitting your face after three days of avoiding the Potter family.
You hadn't left your room and Dot kept appearing, asking if you needed anything and would give you dinner when it was time. You knew Euphemia was up to this but she wanted to give you your space which you respected.
You loved Euphemia dearly but you didn't know how to face her or what to say about everything. In all honesty, you were a bit embarrassed about the whole thing.
You wanted to go home badly but your Father was still sick and your Mom had to stay with him so it was with the Potters for Christmas which was a tragedy within itself.
You had asked your Mom if you could just go next door and stay there alone but she considered it rude and the Potters would still have to check up on you so it was easier if you stayed with them.
You just couldn't stop thinking about everything which was more painful.
You never felt like you acted obsessive when it came to James but hearing his words in your heard,
"I couldn't get away from you, and the only time I could was when I dated Lily; it was the best months of my life,"
The words echoed in your head during the last three days. You knew you were an amazing friend to James and always thought about his needs and comforted him.
And he had the audacity to say such cruel words when all you had been was kind and caring towards him.
Not only did it anger you but you felt humiliated that you could care for such a hateful and disgusting person.
He hadn't even tried to approach you about the situation, he just continued to live in the same house with you without such of a word.
The only one who did try to talk to you was Sirius and even when you tried to ignore him, he refused it and to admit, he was hard to ignore.
"Oh Y/N!" Sirius sang loudly outside of your door, "I know you can hear me!" You clutched your pillow over your ears to drown him out, "If you don't let me in, I'm gonna tell everyone what I saw you do in the girls bathroom sixth year," He said, urging you to the door as it swung open.
You glared at him while he had a grin on his face as he stepped inside your room, "Wow, Mom really set you up with the perks," He looked around in atonishment.
"What do you want?" You said sincerely.
"How are you?" He nervously asked, scratching the back of his head.
You scoffed, "Peachy,"
His face frowned, "I know you don't want to hear about James-" He started.
You cut him off, "Ding ding! I don't," You replied, laying on your bed as Sirius sighed.
"Prongs is a dickhead," Sirius started, earning a nod from you, "But he's trying to turn the love he has for you into hate," He explained as you looked off to the window, "So that he won't miss you but he does dearly," Sirius pleaded.
"Why can't he be the one to be mature?" You asked lightly, "Why does everyone always have to speak for him and excuse his poor behavior?" You exhaled, crossing your arms over your silk nightgown.
"James will never deserve you," Sirius answered, "But I do think a serious conversation is needed without the dramatics,"
You knew that you agreed that you needed to have a conversation with James to put an end to all the bullshit and to just finally be done but you didn't know what to say or how to start it.
"The only reason he hasn't tried talking to you is because he knows you will see how he truly feels and who you've always known," Sirius spoke, "It's up to you but I know that whatever you decide will be the best option," He gave you a reassuring smile.
You looked at him, smiling back, "When did you become so wise?" You asked.
He shrugged, "I'm afraid I've gotten fed up of James and gotten bored," He snickered as you giggled, "I'll see you," He said, kissing your forehead lightly as you nodded before he exited the room.
James didn't deserve you and he probably never would but you remembered that young boy who had been your friend for all of those years.
You couldn't excuse James's actions but you could find it in your heart to give him the much dreaded conversation that has been waiting to happen.
And despite hating him more than you ever have in your life, you had to find it in you to at least explain your feelings.
A knock on your door interrupted your thoughts, "Sirius?" You asked confused as the door swung open.
You were surprised to see your four best friends at the door, smiling at you.
"Ew why was that your first guess?" Marlene questioned disgusted as your face glowed in excitement, racing over to your four best friends at the door.
You embraced them all in a tight hug as you pulled back, "What are you guys doing here?" You gleamed in excitement.
"Well, we heard about what happened from Sirius and Euphemia suggested that we come," Dorcas answered.
"And well, we couldn't say no," Mary added.
"But what about Christmas with your families?" You asked, frowning at the fact that they won't spend Christmas with their families.
"It's just one Christmas and I'm sure Petunia will have a better Christmas without me," Lily giggled as you gave her a soft smile.
"Well I can't say it's that merry here," You said, sitting on your bed as they all walked in and Dorcas started admiring the bookshelf in the corner.
Lily sat down next to you as Mary and Marlene shared the chair across from you and Lily, "How about we actually have one day to celebrate your birthday instead of focusing on James?" Lily comforted.
"It's never one of those days," You sighed.
"But it can be," Dorcas smirked, holding up candies.
"Candy?" Mary asked with a snort.
Dorcas rolled her eyes, "No you idiot, there's weed inside them," She whispered.
Your mouth agaped, "Where did you even get that?" You asked.
"Remus is one hell of a dealer," Dorcas replied, grinning ear to ear.
"I don't know about that," Lily said, swallowing.
"You did say that you wanted to celebrate Y/N's birthday," Marlene replied with a smart-ass tone.
"That is not what I meant and you know it," Lily argued.
"We don't have to do it Lils," You smiled, kissing her lightly on the cheek.
"Yes my sweet Lily flower," Marlene walked over, pinching Lily's cheek, "Let's not prevent you from blooming," She snickered.
Lily stared daggers into Marlene, "You know what, just to prove you wrong McKinnon," Lily replied, walking over to Dorcas and snatching the bag from her.
"Wait a second!" Dorcas softly shouted before Lily ate two of the candies.
Lily's face contorted into disgust and then a gulp before shaking her head, trying to shake off the flavor.
"Is that safe?" You asked, walking over to Lily and checking her eyes.
"Yeah but it just means she's gonna fucked out of her mind," Mary snorted.
"Lily, you are the one who tells us to never fall for Marlene's tatics yet you do this!" Dorcas said, sitting Lily down.
"I feel fine!" Lily persisted.
"For now," Marlene snickered.
You glared at Marlene as she put her hands defensively, "Well if we wanna follows Lily lead," Mary said, eating two like Lily did.
"Count me in!" Marlene cheered, eating two straight after.
"Should we?" Dorcas asked as you shrugged your shoulders and took two as Dorcas did the same.
You both ate the candies and your face contorted the same Lily's did. It tasted like a bitter, earthy taste as if you were chewing cannabis.
"And now we wait," Marlene said, plopping down.
You yawned as Marlene exasperated, "I don't feel anything!"
"Well duh you idiot, it takes a little bit," Mary chortled, continuing to lay down on the carpet of the living room next to LIly.
"You did insist we move downstairs because you thought the aroma of Y/N's room was ruining it," Dorcas snorted.
Marlene crossed her arms, "It seemed right at the time," She pouted, sitting down in the big armchair.
"Maybe we should've took more," Mary suggested.
And that's when everything took a turn for the worst.
You felt like you couldn't fully think straight and you had this sweet, bitter taste in your mouth. You felt relaxed like a huge weight had been lifted in your shoulders and you could be alone in your own thoughts.
"Took more?" Lily giggled.
"Yeah duh," Mary said, giggling too.
"Duh," Dorcas repeated as you all laughed uncontrollably.
"Stop, I can't breathe," You horrendously laughed, holding your stomach in your hands.
"Guys, I'm gonna pee myself!" Marlene cried out, rocking back and forth laughing in the chair.
"Guys, we are so loud," Lily whispered, shushing all of you while uncontrollably laughing.
You felt like you were gonna explode, "You're right, you're right," You whispered, trying to calm down.
"Okay guys silent game," Dorcas shushed, covering her hand over her mouth.
Suddenly Sirius walked in with a confused grin on his face on why you all were whispering and trying to be silent, "What are you guys bloody doing?" He asked which made you all break.
You all bursted out into outrageous laughs while holding your stomach's, trying not to explode. James walked downstairs with a confused smile on his face as he watched the scene in front of them.
"What's up with them?" James asked, the corner of his mouth upturning.
"No idea," Sirius shrugged, walking into the dining hall as James followed him.
"Girls," Euphemia appeared from the dining hall as you all tried to shush yourselves, "Come into the hall for dinner," She gave a comforting smile.
'Shit.' You mentally thought.
Lily was the first one to rise up, looking at the rest of you with a worried look on her face. You stood up, trying to inhale the next laughing round.
You walked towards the dining hall as you could hear the girls behind you, whispering and saying to "act normal."
You sat down next to James as his face was mentally confused on why you had made that decision in the first place.
You felt like your eyes fluttering close as you laid your head on James's shoulder. You could feel him shift uncomfortably but let it happen without questioning you.
Euphemia saw the state in front of her in utter shock, "Y/N, are you okay dear?" She asked, worried.
You didn't want her to suspect that you had taken anything or were under the influence,
So all you had to do was act normal.
How hard could it be?
You straightened yourself on your chair, taking your head off of James, "I'm fine!" You said, louder than you wanted to, earning a worried look from James, Sirius, Fleamont, and Euphemia, "I just didn't get a lot of sleep last night," You cleared your throat.
"I'm sorry to hear that dear, do you need any potions?" Euphemia asked.
"No, no, that's okay," You smiled as she returned one back but still looked worried.
"James, can you grab me a piece of that chicken and some potatoes?" You asked, looking up at him as his eyes showed visible shock.
He hesitated before grabbing a piece of the chicken using a fork and knife and placing it on your plate and grabbing the spoon to put potatoes on the plate. You muttered a 'thanks' before digging into the chicken and potatoes.
You weren't the only one because the rest of the girls were doing the same. Sirius, Fleamont, Euphemia, and James all had shocked expressions, wondering if you guys were wolves.
Fleamont whispered something to Euphemia as she assured him that you guys were fine even if it didn't look like it.
"Y/N, are you okay?" James whispered into your ear.
You smiled, "I'm fine James, how are you?" You asked before stifling a laugh.
"Are you blazed?" He asked with a scoff.
"Shh," You laughed while shushing, "Don't tell Mom,"
"Bloody hell," James replied, trying not to laugh at the situation, "Okay, try to follow my lead," He whispered before standing, "Mum, Y/N is not feeling well, I'm gonna take her to lay down," He said, helping you stand up by grabbing your waist.
"Do you want me to come with?" Euphemia asked, rising up.
"No, no, it's fine," James stopped her, "She just needs to rest,"
Euphemia nodded, "Okay well, feel better dear," Euphemia smiled as James began walking you and you squeezed Euphemia's shoulder in a 'thank you,'
James whispered a few things that you couldn't make out while taking you up the stairs, helping you on each step. You almost tripped over a step as James grabbed your waist, leading you up the stairs.
You laughed obnoxiously as you went from room to room, trying to get to your own. James could only try not to laugh and be the serious one in the moment.
He was leading you to your room but you placed your hands on the door frame, stopping him, "No, your room," You frowned.
"Y/N, you need to sleep in your bed," James insisted, trying not to laugh.
"Jamesie, pleaseeee," You pleaded as he couldn't force you through the door frame and gave up.
"Okay," James sighed, "Come on," He didnât want to see the sad look on your face any longer so he had to cave.
You cheered gleefully as James leaded you to his room, carefully helping you step towards his bed before laying you on the bed.
You looked up at him with a smile as he blushed, "I'm gonna go back downstairs and then I'll sleep in your room," He said, moving to leave.
"Wait!" You yelled, raising up, "Lay with me," You looked at him in the eyes as you looked at him back.
His mouth agaped, "Y/N, I don't know if this is a good idea," He replied.
"We aren't doing anything, I just want you to lay with me," You said, pleading with your eyes.
He walked over to the other side of you, laying up on the headboard as you moved your head to his chest, snuggling into him. His heart was beating faster than you ever could have felt it beat.
"Why are you so mean to me?" You asked, frowning into his chest.
He ran his hands through your hair, "Because I don't know what else to do," He whispered, slowing his strokes down, "I really am sorry Y/N, I don't know if you can forgive me,"
"Just talk to me," You said sadly in his chest.
"When you are sober, I will," He chuckled.
"Promise?" You asked.
"Promise," He said as your eyes fluttered close, sleeping into his chest, "I promise Y/N," He whispered, kissing your head before closing his eyes too.
A/N: For one, I am so sorry for how long this chapter has taken. Number two, this was based on my experience of being high so guys, please don't hate and say this isn't the right experience! This chapter was not that long and not very angst filled but I know my plan! Again, if you hated this, I apologize and thank you so much for reading.

Genuine question, if you are voting for Biden why not just vote independent? Biden is not going to win regardless. Why not just skip the vote for genocide and vote for someone that actually cares about Palestinians
Because I live in Florida, which is a powerful swing state. Giving my vote to anyone other than the person who has the best chance at beating Trump is throwing it away. If Trump dies, I'll vote someone else. If Biden dies, I'll vote someone else. If it seems like everyone in the world has finally agreed on a unanimous third party vote by november, I'll vote someone else. Anything can happen before then, and my vote isn't set in stone.
Until then, the majority of undecided voters are going to vote Biden. There's a lot more people in Florida who are tired of the Trump train than you think. They're seeing his trials, his lies, and they're tired. There are a lot of students in Florida who are now eligible to vote. 4 years worth of 18 year olds who all have tik tok and are very much against all the bullshit in the world. And they all understand how the electoral college works. They know their votes could turn Florida blue.
America does not run on Popular vote, it runs on the electoral college. This means that every US state gets a certain number of votes out of 538 total. Some states, like Wyoming, get 3 votes. That means that my state, Florida, effectively gets 30 votes out of the 270 needed to win the presidency. But, here's the catch, ALL of those votes can only go to ONE candidate. (There are exceptions in 2 states, Nebraska and Maine.) If Trump gets more votes than any other single candidate in Florida, all 30 votes go to Trump.
It's called a swing state for a reason, because it can swing the race heavily in one candidates favor. Only Texas and Califorina get more votes at 40 and 54, respectively.
If all the Republicans in Florida vote for Trump, but all the Democrats and Independents are voting for people other than the person on the ballot, Trump will still get 30 votes. Even if some Republicans vote Biden, if everyone else is writing different candidates in, when everything is tallied, Trump could still win.
Imagine you have 270 red delicious apples, 200 Green apples, 38 yellow apples, and 30 macintosh apples. There are still more Red Delicious apples than any other kind, so Red Delicious gets the Presidency. Luckily, people in Florida who liked Red Delicious apples last year are getting tired and might pick Green apples instead this time. They are almost guaranteed to not pick a golden or macintosh apple, though.
This is what happened in 2016 that allowed Trump to win when he LOST to Hillary Clinton for the popular vote. More electoral college votes went to Trump than they did to any other person. From person to person, more Americans as a whole voted for Hillary. It's all about where you live physically.
This is the reason why I'm voting for Biden at the moment. If things change, I'll happily change too!
And Obviously I don't support Genocide. My point is that realistically speaking, Trump has flat out said to just "finish them" already, so it's not out there to assume he will push to accelerate this genocide using nuclear retaliation. I'm not trying to fear monger, I'm saying this system is broken, and they're lying to you about how it works in order to take advantage of your ignorance. Whoever gets the most votes win? Not exactly, but if you don't bother to look any closer, you'll never know you were playing a rigged game from the start.
Vote however you need to for your state. But understand where your vote is going. One vote is the difference between 30 and 3 electoral votes.
#long post#ugly election politics#i'll try and keep that tag from now on#also im not perfect so feel free to fact check me on this but I cant afford to vote for who I actually agree with this time.#if you were to ask me whos policies im not repulsed by i couldnt give you an answer. AOC feels like the least scummy but also the least#least experience#maybe she'll officially step up in her birthday. thats when she turns 35 and is eligible for candidacy. idk#4 more months and anything can happen

Can I request a part 3 to "unrequited"?
A/N I honestly was not planning another part to this story. I'm just gonna... leave this here. (Pls don't hate me guys. This is so genuinely the only path I could think of for this story that I liked.)

Pairing: Alastor x Reader
Warnings: Um. Alastor is dark/yandere in this part. Uh. Unhealthy relationship. Yeah.

Alastor had cornered her in the hall. The years, the games, the challenges, none of it was fun anymore. It all came to an end tonight. There was no other option, not when she could die tomorrow. The angels were coming, and they were coming for the hotel.
"I don't want you here tomorrow."
"What!?" Y/n exclaimed in utter shock.
She hadn't known what to expect when Alastor had stopped her as she made her way downstairs to the bar. Everyone was supposed to be having a drink together, celebrating their afterlives that there was a chance they might loose. She didn't know what to expect but, she certainly hadn't expected this.
Alastor had been acting weird lately. He was always weird but ever since the day with Husk in the hallway, he'd been weird even by those standards. He was always finding something for Y/n to do that put her near him, always watching. It was irritating. They had been fighting a lot and Alastor still had yet to apologize to Husk.
"I don't want you at the hotel tomorrow. You are not coming near this fight."
"What the fuck, Alastor?" Y/n nearly stamped her foot on the floor, she crossed her arms and glared at the demon, "I... these are my friends. This is my home. I will do what I can to protect it."
"No, you wont. You wont be here." he paused, "I will use our little deal to make sure of that, if need be."
Y/n scoffed. Her anger was a fiery, radiant thing. Alastor found himself thinking she had always reminded him quite a bit of a lioness when she got like this. The thought had been an accident, he couldn't afford to be distracted. Not when these were the stakes. Alastor pushed it away.
"You fucking... literally why? Like, what? I... sorry, just taking me a bit to process this: the demon who tricked me into selling my soul to them is now going to use that contract to take me, a valuable asset, out of a war which we cannot afford to loose?"
"Yes." Alastor nodded.
"Because?" Y/n prompted in irritation after a moment.
Alastor sighed.
"Y/n, think about what could happen if you are here."
"The same thing that could happen to any one here!" Y/n threw her arms up in exasperation, gesticulating her frustration as she spoke, "The same thing you're forcing on Husk and Nifty, have you had this chat with either of them?"
Alastor didn't respond. It was all the answer she needed.
"Yeah, I didn't fucking think so!" she scoffed, "So it's okay for everyone to risk their lives -- it's okay for you to risk your life even, but not me? Its okay for you to force my friends to risk their lives, but you're going to force me to stay out of it? Listen to yourself, you sound ridiculous."
"We don't need your help. You're slow, you will only hold us back."
The comment he had hope would dampen Y/n's spirit, bend her will into submission, only added to her fire.
"I'm... that's bullshit and we both know it. I might be small, but so is Nifty. Everyone has skills they can offer. I know how to fight, how to survive, and we will have angelic weapons for Christ's sake. Like, I really don't understand what the issue your having is here."
"Y/n, just... no." Alastor shook his head, a hand to his temples, "No. You will not be here tomorrow. I forbid it. I'm sending you to stay with Rosie."
"What am I, your kid?" Y/n sneered.
Alastor looked over at her, his hand falling from his forehead.
"Just please, Y/n." he took a step forward, pulling her hands into his. Alastor took a deep breath. "For me."
Y/n's eyes went wide. Alastor could see the conflict, the swirling emotions. Anger turned to grief, mixed with gratitude, and became anger again. A never ending cycle.
His heart pounded against his chest, it fought him valiantly for release. It had been so long. So long since she'd looked at him with anything other than disgust, so long since she had let him touch her like this.
Y/n settled on confusion as her dominant emotion and pulled her hands from his grasp. Alastor mourned the contact, his hands still held up in the air where hers had met them as Y/n took a step away.
"Why."
It wasn't a question. Y/n commanded information and at the end of the day, he may own her soul but she owned his heart. Alastor felt like in some way, she always had. He couldn't bear the thought of loosing her but, he didn't know if he could handle the rejection either. There was no way, no chance, she would believe him if he told her too much of the truth but, lying wouldn't work either. It would have to be a careful balance, a calculated withholding of information. Too much was riding on tomorrow, on tonight, on this very moment.
"Because I don't want you to die."
Y/n's brow furrowed even further, their eyes growing wider still as she stumbled another step back. Her back was nearly against the wall now, there wasn't anywhere else she could go.
Her eyes flitted around the space fervently. Her lips formed words that never left her mouth. Alastor watched, stress eating him alive. At last, Y/n did something. She brought her hands to her head and sunk to the floor, her knees pulled into her chest.
"What are you doing to me." she muttered softly, just barely loud enough for him to hear.
For what felt like the thousandth time, Alastor felt a little piece of his heart fracture off. He didn't know how much more he could take of this before there was nothing left to break, nothing left to loose. She looked up at him, her hands still holding either side of her head and her eyes wet with tears.
"Why do you care?"
Alastor's breath caught in his throat. There was an insistence in her voice, a pleading. He stood in indecision for a moment, frozen by want, by need, by fear. His body took over as he took a step towards Y/n. Alastor kneeled down in front of her.
With great care, with a familiarity and gentleness Y/n hadn't felt from him in years, Alastor untangled her fingers from her hair. He held her hands in his once again and this time, he wasn't going to let go.
"Because I care about you."
Shock at his own bravery emanated from his chest. Alastor held his breath.
"You..." Y/n's eyes hardened, "I wish you'd stop messing with my head like this. Its not funny."
"Y/n, I'm not messing. I am not playing a game, I'm not..." Alastor sighed, letting go of one of Y/n's hands and running his hand through his hair as he looked to the side.
Taking a deep breath, he turned back to face her, grabbing her free hand once again.
"I don't know what I can do to prove it to you, that I'm not. But I will keep you safe. No matter what, you will not be here tomorrow."
"Please, Alastor."
His heart stopped. He couldn't recall the last time she'd asked him for anything that wasn't to leave her, Husk, and Nifty, alone. He couldn't recall the last time she'd seemed to fragile in his arms.
"Please, they're... they're my family. I can't..." a single tear rolled down Y/n's cheek, "I can't just leave them."
"I..."
There was a moment, a split second where he almost agreed. Alastor's eyes narrowed. He dropped Y/n's hands and got back to his feet. She adjusted her position in response, nearly kneeling before him.
"Please, Alastor. Let me help them. Let me do what I can to protect my family. Please. I'll do anything you want... I'll..."
It almost worked. Alastor felt his purpose waver again. Then the fear came back. He had already lost so much. His mother, his humanity, his own soul and free will. Alastor refused to add Y/n to the list of things that were so far out of his reach. He just couldn't. He didn't care if she hated him for the rest of eternity, as long as it meant she was safe at his side.
"No." he shook his head, his heart hardening, "You forget, you already have to do whatever I want. You forget, I own you."
Y/n's scream of anger as the shadows took her was muffled as she was sucked into their portal. Alastor stood, watching the spot she had been in for a few moments and then, he doubled over in pain. It shot through him in spikes, in daggers. It was the first time he had told her that. Not once before had Alastor ever said those three words to Y/n, not even when they had first made their deal. I own you.
The guilt, the regret, all of it underpinned by the overwhelming love. It had been trapped for so long, so sheltered and pushed back in the recesses of his mind that it had twisted. The love had become obsessive, dangerous, hungry.
With a breath, Alastor stood straight once again. Pushing his composure back to the surface, he smoothed his hair and went down to the bar to inform everyone of his decision. He may have forced Y/n to do something she didn't want to, fracturing things further than he'd believed possible, but he wasn't going to blame her for it. Alastor was used to being the villain and hopefully, in this case, he wouldn't have to be. Hopefully, they would understand.
Y/n gasped for breath as she was let out of the shadow portal. Panting on all fours, slowly she brought herself back together. Y/n had met Rosie before, once or twice. She knew she was a kind soul at heart, a reasonable person, and she knew that Rosie's cannibals were the main force of their army tomorrow. All she had to do was convince the overlord to let her join them, and it would be okay.
Taking a deep breath to restore her confidence, Y/n looked up. Her heart dropped.
"No."
She got to her feet, looking carefully around the decrepit old radio tower.
"No. Nonono."
Her breaths becoming panicked, she ran to the door. It was locked. Taking a step back, she kicked it harshly. The firm wood didn't budge.
Driven by adrenaline alone, Y/n ran to the windows and began to hit them with all her might. None of them so much as trembled.
"No!"
She looked wildly around the space and, spotting Alastor's chair, picked it up. Y/n hurled it at the window. There was a crash and for a split second, there was hope. That was until she realized it was the chair that had broken, not the window.
"No! No!"
Turning back to the door, she hurled her body repeatedly against it. Each time, she got the biggest running start she could. Each time, there was no change at all, nothing happened. Fresh tears pooled in her eyes, she was long past panicked now.
"NO!"
After about twenty minutes, Y/n was out of breath and exhausted. Her whole body hurt and her face was sticky with tears. She sat at the door, her back pressed against it and her knees pulled into her chest. Burying her face in her legs, she sobbed.
Everyone was at the hotel, except for her. Everyone was preparing to fight for and protect what they loved, except for her. What would they think? What would they say? Much more importantly, would they make it out?
A sudden fear gripped her, a fist around her heart. Would she ever see any of them again? Y/n's sobs redoubled.
"Fucking..."
She sniffed, her panic and grief quickly fixing itself back in the shape of the familiar anger. She could see him in her minds eye, that moment his eyes had softened, that moment she thought that maybe he had been telling the truth all along, that they really had been friends, that he really did care.
"I hate you Alastor!" she screamed to herself, alone in the dark, "I hate you and I will continue to hate you until the day I fucking die again!"
----
A/N I love an irredeemable villain and doomed, misshapen love. I'm sorry to anyone who wanted this to end up happy.

"Luffy!"
"Don't worry, I got this!" Luffy shouted when Buggy had grabbed me and began to pull me away from the stage, where Luffy was now held. This fucking clown, I swear if he harms that boy. I frowned when the clown began to now pulling me away.
"Quit giving me such a hard time!"
"Hey! What do you think you're doing pulling me into this room-" I was immediately quiet when Buggy grabbed my shoulders dipped me a bit and he unexpectedly began to kiss me.
I started back at him surprised as he lifted me back up on my feet. The first thing I did was slap his across the face and I hid my face.
"I-I'm so sorry! What..why did you-"
Buggy began to chuckle to himself as he held onto the spot I had hit him. His lipstick was smeared around his lips, and it was a bit hard ti tell if I let a mark on his face.
"You're still annoying and hard to please. You haven't changed quite much, (Y/N). Now..Where is my map?!"
I furrowed my eyebrows and leaned closer to look at him. All of the sudden Buggy took a step back and froze.
"BuggyâŚsorry I don't know what you mean-"
"Ugh I knew it! That damn Shanks probably told you to forget about me. He always does things like this."
I crossed my arms over my chest and tilted my head. "Shanks you know him?! WaitâŚ" I thought hard and suddenly remembered a certain memory of myself, Shanks and Buggy.
"Now I remember! You took a few punches once when-"
"When a guy threatened to toss you out into the sea." Buggy ended my sentence and sighed.
I started up at the clown and wondered how I had forgotten about him. "We used to hang out didn't we? The three of us."
"Yeah until I was left alone! Shanks returned one day without you, saying how he wanted you to have s nice and decent life, not a pirates one which I thought was bullshit."
"Language." I warn and smirked afterwards.
Buggy sighed and now looked at me up and down. "You really grew up, (Y/N)."
"Flashily I suppose?" I said giving a twirl and giving a wink. "But seriously, did you kidnap us just so you can have the map?"
"That map belongs to me! Not to some prepubescent boy who doesn't know what it's like to be a pirate. Why are you with him anyways?" He asked leaning his back onto the wall and crossing his arms.
"I made a promise to my brother, Shanks. That I would look after him."
"So you're a babysitter then? That's great." Buggy rolled his eyes as he said that and started to take his gloves off. "Really suits your character." He laughed.
I squinted my eyes at him and looked at him from head to know. "Never thought you would go with the whole creepy clown look. You look like you would eat children." I joke.
"I eat others things⌠I let the whole raw meat thing to my buddy you met back on stage."
Great. So not only are they all supposed to be freaks, but he has a cannibal among them. What else has he been up to for these last couple of years?
"Gross. How many times have you taken advantage of some poor girl..or boy."
"Don't be ridiculous. I would never take advantage of someone if they were against it. And those who accept?"
"Well, let's say we have a pretty good time." He grinned pulling himself back up straight and seeing me fake throwing up.
"Ew.. I did not need that image in my head."
"Don't tell me you're still a virgin! Someone like you? Traveling the sea?!"
I looked around at where he had taken me. Making sure to look well even if it was kinda dark, only a few candles here and there with a vanity mirror and a few makeup scattered around, a small bed with the same lights messily clinging above the room.
"Where's Luffy?"
"Now you're avoiding the question!"
"Just tell me where he is with his ginger girl and broccoli guy!" I said trying me my best to not seem nervous, but really wanting to know if they were safe.
"I'll gladly tell you, once you tell where my map is!" He shouted and seemed to quickly compose himself and curse under his breath.
Buggy dramatically sighed and sat down on the edge of his bed. "Rubber boy is fine, he's entertaining my guests. Other two are with Cabaji."
My eyes looked back at the entrance and worried about the people being held hostage, I even spotted a poor dog with an older man, probably the owner saving the last thing he has, "What about the people?"
"What people?"
"The towns people, you idiot. You have to let them go." I said hoping he'd listen.
Buggy jumped up and began to laugh. "Sure! I'll do it right now, wanna help me?"
I frowned looking at him and was thinking if there's some way I can somehow release some of them. I really need Luffy's helpâŚI decided to be straight and harsh with him.
"No matter how many people you hold captive. You'll never make people love you."
I felt a bit intimidated by his stare when Buggy took steps closer to me and cornered me against the vanity mirror. I looked to the side and felt his stare on me.
"Don't think you'll get a pass out of this, sweetheart. You're doing this so I can let your little friends go." Buggy lowly spoke as he took his ungloved hands and wrapped one around my neck.
"You seriously think that I would take advantage of you?" I question looking back up at him and saw a cold stare on his face.
"I think you're the one wanting to take advantage of me. You want to know where the map is. Well, I won't tell you, because I don't know. Thanks to your bombs I collapsed before I got the chance to see where or who got it."
"And why should I trust you? We don't know each other well." He sang being sarcastic as ever.
"You like playing games don't you? Maybe I can show you that I am telling the truth." I said and smiled.
Buggy frowned and gave me a harsh stare. I reached my hand down to his pants beginning to unbutton the first few buttons. His breathing hitched and I could feel him freeze when I touched him.
"It's been years since I saw you. We were kids..I'm sorry I forgot about you. Shanks only wanted what was best for me-"
Buggy instantly grabbed my wrists making me stop and look back at him when with his other hand he grabbed my face.
"Shanks being selfish as ever. Did he ever wonder what was best for me? He's taken everything from me, and now I have you back." He grinned and now grabbed the back of my head.
He placed his hand under my chin and I could see his blue pupils darken. I closed my eyes when Buggy leaned down to kiss me again. I felt him move my hair aside and leaving quick kisses down my neck and collarbone.
I gripped onto his shirt tight and began to kiss his lips again, ignoring how I would end up stained in his makeup. Quickly it began to deepen with me slipping out a moan when I felt his hands on my stomach and felt his pants getting tighter.
I moaned into the kiss when I felt him begin to get rid of my upper half clothes and began to palm my chest. Buggy's kisses began to lower until he reached down my breasts while his other hand played with my other one. While he was busy I started to reach my hand down to his pants beginning to unbutton the first few buttons.
"Shanks was being selfish as ever. Did he ever wonder what was best for me? He's taken everything from me, and now I have you back." He grinned and now grabbed the back of my head.
He smiled as he placed his hand under my chin and I could see his blue pupils darken. I shivered when I felt his hands beginning to move lower into my pants, until his fingers started to tease my nub.
My breathing hitched and a moaned almost escaped from my mouth, quickly I covered my mouth which made it seem like it was irritating Buggy. With my mouth still covered I saw him beginning to lower himself down on his knees. Quickly he got rid of my pants quick and slowly pulled down my underwear.
I've never been this exposed to someone. I began to cover myself but Buggy held my hands back and he began to leave a few bits down along my thighs until I saw him begin to part my legs. I leaned my back against the vanity mirror making all the things that were on it fall to the ground.
"You are so beautiful, (Y/N)." I heard Buggy say when he saw me naked before him.
Buggy began to lick his smudged lips and I gasped when he grabbed my thigh and placed it on his shoulder. I threw my head back when I saw stick his tongue out and gave a slow and long lick to my entrance, he followed it with another lick until Buggy was swirling his tongue. I loud moan escaped from mouth when I couldn't hold it it anymore.
His nose would occasionally brush against my clit, causing my body to twitch and strain against him. Buggy's other hand continued to thrust his fingers inside me while he pressed his thumb against my nub. "Buggy..â I moaned lowly. My hand continuing to grab his hair tugging at it slightly, causing him to growl right into my cunt again. "I'm gonna-" I squeezed my eyes shut when he thrusted his fingers faster for me to come.
I began to buck my hips forward and continued to tug onto his blue hair which has been tied up. I squeezed my eyes tights and cried out in pleasure when I felt something build inside of me, and when I finally came, I felt my legs about to give out.
Buggy quickly wiped his messy face and quickly stood up and held me close to him. Holding me so I wouldn't fall.
"Not so fast, sweetheart. It's my turn." I was still coming back to reality when Buggy pushed me down on my knees and I was met with his long and big- "There's no way its gonna fit." I thought looking at him.
"Why don't you use your pretty mouth, (Y/N)?" Buggy hummed slipping his thumb into my mouth before pulling it away. I looked down at him and my entire face got red seeing him completely undressed now. What would people say if they saw me about to fuck a clown.
Suddenly I began to feel nervous as I watched him begin to stroke himself a bit until he began to guide his member closer to my mouth, his other hand running through my hair lovingly.
I did what I suppose I am to do, I opened my mouth sticking my tongue out. Buggy wasted no time and he began to gently fuck my mouth. I hummed when I tasted him and heard him groan above me as I took in more of him and took him out with a pop.
I reached my hands out to pump the rest that couldn't fit in when I took him back again and began to gag when he began to fuck my mouth faster. Buggy gripped my head tight and suddenly pulled be back leaving a string of saliva connected to him. I shrieked when he suddenly began to carry me onto the bed.behind him.
Buggy quickly getting rid of his remaining clothes and grabbed my ankles to part my legs when he got on top of me, his hands gripped my hips as he guided his dick between my folds. I shivered when I felt him toying with me and kept on teasing me before he grabbed himself again and began to slide in.
Both of us moaned when he slid deep inside of me. Buggy cursed a few words and he stayed still for a minute, before he began to thrust into me at a rough pace. He slid deep in me with ease as my juices coated his cock. I moaned out and looked to the side feeling shy again, my breasts bouncing with every hard thrust he did as I felt his fingers rubbing my clit harshly.
Again I felt that familiar sensation returning I clenched around his cock as I interlaced my fingers with Buggy when I felt that snap again and my vision got blurry for a second. I began to feel overstimulation when his hands buried into my hair again until one of his hands reached down my neck. His pace became even rougher and faster, making me come closer to my climax again
"B-Buggy!"
I began to cry when he learned down to whisper dirty things into my ear, his playful self no longer present in the room. Tears streamed down my cheeks as he continued to fuck me. Buggy reached down to rub my clit harshly, making me come again and stain the sheets beneath us. And just when I thought we were done, Buggy flipped me so my stomach would be facing the bed and my back facing him.
Another moan escaped from me when I felt a harsh smack against my ass and felt his hands grab my ass and stretching me to take him in better. At this angle I could feel him closer.
I shut to eyes shut and continued to moan and cry every time he would thrust into me. I bit my lips tight as I felt his harsh thrust inside of me. I reached down myself and stated to circle my finger over my clit, the friction along with this man's rough thrusts making my mind go blank as I rested the side of my face onto the bed.
"Buggy..I-I'm.." I cried out when I felt Buggy holding onto my hips tighter pulling me back against him.
I heard Buggy softly laughing as he watched the faces and moans I made. One last moan and cry came out of me when I came hard. I still felt extremely sensitive when I felt Buggy holding onto me tight until we both gasped, I grasped onto the sheets when I felt forward a bit and felt him getting closer
Buggy gripped onto me tight and moaned close to my ear when he came inside of me. I fell forward and began to shake at what happened. Slowly, Buggy pulled himself out.
I got myself comfortable laying on my side and felt something still slowly dripping out of me. I was too tired to speak or to even look back at the blue haired clown.
Last thing I felt was Buggy rubbing my hips and planting a kiss a quick kiss on my head before I watched him leave the bed. Too tired to question anything, I decided to shut my eyes for a quick nap and felt something warm being placed on top of me.
"(Y/N)! You're safe..where the heck where you?!" Luffy questioned seeing my tired face. "Where you kept locked up? Buggy didn't hurt you did he?!" Luffy grabbed my shoulders and began to shake me.
"Luffy! Now's not the time!" I said not wanting anyone to touch me at how sore I felt. I looked at the young boy and smiled, "âŚI-I'm fine. None of you got hurt?" I asked genuinely concerned for them.
Though I have no idea what had happened since I had blacked out. I only remember falling asleep and well, waking up alone and pulling away from some curtains and making my way outside of the huge tent. That bastard clown. How dare he leave me.
Everyone of the towns people were set free and thanking Luffy for his help. Everyone genuinely seemed happy and very grateful. That way they know that not every pirates are bad.
"Nothing we couldn't handle." Zoro calmly replied walking past me.
"Kicking the clowns ass was fun. You should've seen it." Nami told me after.
They defeated him then? I sigh and smiled looking at Luffy and pulled his straw hat down and chuckled. There's no way he can't know what happened between that clown and I. That fucking clown will pay if I were to see him again.
I looked over at my friend and smiled at him. "You did great Luffy."
I followed Luffy to the ship and saw him waving at everyone where the ship began to sail. We all got busy and I sat down rethinking what the hell I did back there.
Luffy came over and smiled sitting next to me. "Are you sure you're fine? I swear I heard you crying."
My blood ran cold and I grew pale. I noticed Luffy's worried look and he quickly placed his hand over my forehead.
"Are you sick? Don't tell me you're getting sea sick all of the sudden."
"âŚNope. I'm sorry I shouldn't worry you. Nothing happened." I lie straight at his innocent face.
The boy smiled and nodded his head. "If you say so! Let me know if you feel any better."
I nodded my head and saw Luffy run over to the front of the boat. I turned around and spotted Nami and Zoro shaking their heads at me.

episode eight: the upside down
You know you shouldnât, but you laugh. Honestly, after everything youâve been through tonight with Steve, how can he possibly think the two of you arenât friends? âWhy are you laughing?â Steve mumbles, confused. âSorry,â you wheeze out, still uncontrollably laughing. âItâs justâI mean, dude! We almost died together, of course weâre friends now!â âWe are?â He looks like a little kid on Christmas day being given the gift heâs always wanted. Your heart warms. âYes, idiot.â
summary: drinking game time ! take a shot every time jonathan tries ditching you or every time you almost die at the byers house, you find out that steve really is an athlete and tbh it's hot, but you know what's even hotter ? saving hawkins and reaching a tentative compromise with steve after he loans you $5 for snacks. after, jonathan makes a promise you really hope he can keep.

You almost miss Jonathan and Nancy sneaking off.Â
You had been explaining a comic book that had been in your bag to El when you noticed a shift in your periphery. Turning your head, you see Jonathan stand, offer Nancy his hand to help her up, and then walk towards the main doors together.Â
What the fuck.Â
âThey wouldnât dareâŚâ You excuse yourself and run out the gym and into the hallway to follow them, absolutely furious. Youâre so sick of their bullshit, of Jonathanâs bullshit and putting Nancy first. This isnât even a petty jealousy thing, this is about the years of friendship between the two of you that has just suddenly disappeared within a damn week all due to circumstances completely out of your control.Â
The slam of the main door is the only warning Jonathan gets before youâre yanking him by his coat and flinging him back, forcing him to look at you. âWhere the fuck do you think youâre going?â
Youâve never, ever yelled at him like this before. Not even earlier this week when heâd given you that bullshit apology after screaming at you for being in his room, for saying the two of you werenât family. You didnât yell at him for hiding Nancyâs pictures from you, for going off without you to find the monster. Despite everything, youâve never been this cruel to him, even if he may have deserved it at times.
Jonathanâs wide eyes stare down at your hand thatâs still clutched around his coat, frightened. âBug, we were justââ
âJust what? Sneaking off without me?â
âItâs not like that, Y/N.â Nancy now steps in, her hands held up as if youâre some rabid dog she wants to calm down. âWe just figured weâd help Joyce and Hopper.â
ââWeâ? Are you fucking kidding me? You two talked about this, had an entire conversation, and still somehow came to the conclusion that ditching me was a great fucking idea?â You scoff, deeply hurt by the fact that the two of them had an entire conversation without thinking to include you in it.Â
âBug, can we talk about this one on one?â Jonathan asks, his voice lowered. You can see the genuine upset in his eyes and for a moment your grip on him lessens, but then you see Nancy behind him and your anger only returns.Â
âNo, we can discuss this right here.âÂ
He sighs and tries to grab the hand not clutching his coat, but you slap it away. âBugââ
âYouâve lost that privilege.âÂ
âBugâI mean, Y/N,â His voice falters. âLook, my mom and Hopper are out there right now trying to find Will while that monster is still out. Nance and I⌠We want to finish what we started.âÂ
âWithout me?â You donât mean for it to happen, but your voice catches at the end.
Jonathanâs gaze softens and this time he succeeds in grabbing your hand. You let go of him and allow him to pull you in, weak against him as always. âIâm doing this to protect them, to protect you, Y/N. Iâm always trying to protect you. You know that, right?â
You used to think that you did, but now? Youâre not so sure, and it terrifies you.Â
Nancy has stepped away from the conversation, now kicking at rocks while youâre with Jonathan, and you canât help but think about how wrong all of this feels.Â
Throughout this entire week itâs felt like someone has given you a photo of Jonathan, smeared its lines and edges, removed his moles and his crooked smile and made it neater, altered so that if you squint you can see the boy you grew up with underneath it all⌠But itâs fuzzy, almost too unclear to really see.Â
Now heâs standing in front of you, his smile once more crooked and cunning and his moles faded underneath the moonlight and for a second you can see him. There he is, clear and untouched and him in a way thatâs never quite been yours.
âI know,â you tell him. âBut how many more times do you expect me to forgive you for lying and ditching me? If you want to protect me, you need to talk to me.â
Jonathan winces. âI know, I know it sounds stupid and I know Iâve fucked up more than enough this week, I just get caught up in wanting to make sure youâre safe. Itâd kill me if I let anything happen to you⌠I just, I canât lose you, bug.â
âSo pushing me away is your grand plan of keeping me?â
âIâve always been an idiot.â He manages a smile, and you canât help but laugh.Â
âThatâs true, but if you attempt to ditch me one more time I swear to god Iâll pour tar all over your car.â
The boy laughs and for a brief moment everything feels okay again, but it doesnât last very long. âIn our defense, we figured youâd be better off with the kids since youâre not really a fighter, ya know?âÂ
You drop his hand. âExcuse me?âÂ
Jonathanâs smile is gone. âWhat?â
âIâm not really a fighter? Youâre kidding, right?â
âHey, no I didnât mean it like thatââ Jonathan fumbles over his words, clearly taken aback by your sudden mood change.Â
You step away from him. âHow many times did I defend you against Lonnie? Better yet, remind me how we became friends in the first place. Wasnât it because I threw milk at a bunch of idiots bullying you? Huh?â
âY/Nââ
âGod, I canât believe I almost let you get away with it again! I mean, do you even hear the bullshit that comes out of your mouth?â You deepen your voice, now doing a poor impersonation of him. ââHey, bug! You know I love you, right? Cool! Now, Iâm gonna go do fuck all and ignore you and ditch you and then somehow turn it into me being a good guy because duh! I can never do any wrong!ââ
âPlease, justââ
âDid I get it right? It was a pretty good impersonation in my opinion. I mean, I am the one who has had to deal with this shit all fucking week. I think I'm an expert on this topic now.âÂ
Jonathan looks pained but you donât fucking care anymore. Youâve reached your limit, youâre sick and tired of being treated like some delicate creature thatâs incapable of taking care of itself. You literally slapped Tommy Hagan this afternoon in order to help Jonathan, yet here he is basically calling you weak.Â
And yet Nancy is the fighter. Sheâs the one who gets to go along on the adventure while youâre sidelined because for some damn reason youâre always the second option. Never taking matters into your own hands, always the one left behind to clean up the mess and take care of those also discarded.Â
Youâre sick of it.Â
You step closer to Jonathan again, so that youâre nose to nose, and whisper, âIâm tired of never being good enough.âÂ
And with that, you reach into his coat and snatch up his keys, a game youâve always played with him but now has turned into a bitter taste in your mouth, and run back into the gym. Someone has to inform the kids of the plan, make sure theyâll be okay on their own.Â
Dustin sees you approach and smiles, but when he notices the angry pace in your steps, he frowns. âUh oh.â
âYeah, uh oh.âÂ
âJonathan again?â
You nod, still too angry to trust your words. âYeah.âÂ
He notices the keys in your hand. âWhere are you going?â
Mike and Lucas look over now, curious as to whatâs happening.Â
You sigh. âIâm going with Nancy and Jonathan to the Byers house, weâre going to kill the monster.âÂ
âWhy the hell are you going?â Dustin exclaims while Mike shoutes âsick!â and Lucas mumbles âgreat, alone againâ. El remains quiet, still resting.Â
You flick your brotherâs hat. âI have to, Dustin.â
âFor Jonathan?â He shakes his head. âI like him, but arenât you mad at him right now?â
âIs it just me, or is she always mad at him these days?â Mike whispers over to Lucas, who simply shrugs.Â
âGirls, man.âÂ
You ignore them and focus on Dustin. âIt doesnât matter. He needs my help, and no one in the party gets left behind. Remember?â
âY/Nââ
âI love you,â you kiss the top of his head. âI promise Iâll be safe, just be careful, okay? Iâm putting you in charge, so donât let me down. If everything goes according to plan, Iâll see you in a few hours tops!â
Dustin tries to argue some more, but you quickly run back outside before he can get another word in. You feel horrible leaving him behind, but you know this is the right decision. If you can kill the monster, thereâs less of a chance of the kids or Joyce and Hopper getting hurt. Jonathan and Nancy may be fine on their own, but thereâs always power in numbers and theyâll need all the help they can get.Â
You just⌠you have to help. You know this is what youâre supposed to be doing, even if it pains you to do so. Dustin and the kids are smart; as long as they stay at the school, theyâll be fine.Â
In theory, that is.
Nancy and Jonathan are waiting for you outside. You push past them and march towards Jonathanâs care; they awkwardly follow after you. You unlock it, throw yourself into the backseat, and promptly dig through your backpack to make sure you have everything.Â
The two teens get in a few minutes after you. Not one word is spoken as Jonathan starts the car and the three of you drive off, leaving Hawkins Middle behind.Â
âÂ
You thought the car ride with Nancy and Jonathan from the funeral home had been tense, but this one? Downright painful.Â
Jonathan has a tight grip on the steering wheel and keeps trying to catch your eye through the rearview mirror but you avoid his gaze. Youâve spent the last five minutes arranging and rearranging your backpack to give you something to do while Nancy has tried three times to make conversation to make this car ride bearable.Â
âEl seems nice.âÂ
âYou said four words to her, Nancy.â You retort, switching open your switchblade once more to watch the moonlight dance off of its blades.Â
âRight.âÂ
Nancy shifts uncomfortably in the passenger seat. You know she realizes sheâs once again upset the balance in your relationship with Jonathan. It was only an hour ago that she tried getting you to admit your feelings for him before convincing the boy to up and leave you. Sure, Jonathan made his own decision in the end, but damn. She couldâve at least pretended to want you around.Â
She notices your knives and tries to spark conversation again. âI love the color of the handle, itâs beautiful.âÂ
âThanks,â you switch the blades closed and sit up in your seat. âAnyways, you geniuses have a plan or were you just counting on ditching me and winging it from there?â
âY/Nââ
âNo, Nancy. I insist, letâs talk about a plan. Weâre here to kill a monster, right?â
She closes her mouth and frowns, turning to Jonathan for help, but heâs no use. Heâs busy tapping his fingers against the wheel and praying that the world will just swallow him up whole. Too bad for him youâre a stubborn pain in the ass and would simply pluck him back up so you can torture him some more.Â
Nancy sighs. âWell, Jonathan and I were thinking we use the supplies we got earlier and lure the monster to his place, then we kill it.âÂ
âAwesome plan, guys!â You say, your voice dripping with sickly sweetness that leaves them both feeling even more uncomfortable. âBut may I suggest some actual details or shall we just bank off of this wonderfully dull and vague plan?âÂ
âSure, Y/N. Tell us what you had in mind.â Nancy rubs her face tiredly, knowing she deserves this.Â
âGreat! Iâm assuming weâre luring the monster with blood?â They nod at you, so you continue. âOkay, so before we lure it I think we should completely booby-trap Jonathanâs house. Nail the bear trap down onto the floor, make sure the floor is cleared of anything that could trip us up. Then, once weâve got the house secured, we knick ourselves to draw some blood and pray to whatever god is up there that we can kill the thing.âÂ
You pause for a moment, remembering how all the Christmas lights had been unscrewed by Joyce earlier. âThe lights, we need to fix them. The monster communicates through the lights so if we have them, then we can track it.â
âThat all sounds great, bug.â Jonathan finally speaks up, ass kissing.Â
âThanks, pal. Still donât have the bug privilege back, but Iâm sure you simply forgot.âÂ
He gulps, once more going back to being silent as he drives you and Nancy to his house.Â
Nancy again tries to diffuse the tension. âHow do we even kill the monster though? I mean, will my bullets be enough?â
âI have this idea, but itâs⌠well, itâs out there.â You bite your lip, now feeling your cocky demeanor slipping. âIf we can safely set fire to it, I think thatâs our best bet.â
âFire?â Jonathan exclaims, but Nancy shushes him.Â
âI think youâre right.âÂ
âY/N, I know youâre mad at me but do we really have to set fire to my houseââ
Now itâs your turn to shush Jonathan. âThis isnât about that. I wouldnât burn your house down, I already told you Iâd just pour tar on your car whenever I get the chance. For now, I really do think the best thing to do is burn the monster alive. In every horror movie and book, fire always gets the job done.âÂ
Despite herself, Nancy lets out a soft chuckle as Jonathan parks the car, now at his house. âSheâs right, Jonathan. And who burns down houses these days? Tar really is the best form of revenge.âÂ
âIâm flattered, Wheeler. At the rate youâre going, youâll be off my shitlist in no time.â You tell her, patting her on the shoulder before getting out of the car. You quickly open up the trunk and gather the monster hunting supplies while Jonathan and Nancy take their time getting out.Â
You let yourself into the Byers home using your own key to the place. Itâs been nestled in between the key to your house and the spare key to Jonathanâs car on your keychain for a few years now.Â
The first thing you get started on are the lights. Thereâs hundreds of them to get through, but you drop your supplies and begin screwing them in one by one. Nancy and Jonathan come in soon after and silently begin to help.Â
No conversation is made besides the necessary comments about the prep work. Youâre all too focused on the possibility of what could happen next; the danger of the situation has finally set in. After the lights have all been fixed, you instruct Jonathan to begin nailing the bear trap down while you and Nancy discuss where to pour the gasoline. You both agree to make a path from the living room to Willâs room.Â
As Nancy pours the gasoline, you follow behind her and pick up any flammables. You weren't lying to Jonathan earlier, you really donât want to burn his house down. While the house is wrecked, itâs still a home despite everything thatâs happened in it. You practically grew up within its walls, youâd do anything to keep it as protected as possible.Â
When youâre done, you watch Nancy load her gun. A shiver runs down our spine; she looks at ease with it, which you figure should be reassuring, but the gravity of everything leaves you feeling on edge. You leave her alone and walk into the kitchen where Jonathan is, now hammering a ton of nails into his bat.Â
You begin to sharpen your blades next to him, still finding that you only feel secure by his side. The rhythmic sound of his hammering calms you, in a sense. It serves as a distraction. You know you insisted on coming, you donât regret it and you know youâre stronger than everyone seems to give you credit for, but youâre also terrified. This isnât just some adventure in the woods; this could kill the ones you love dearly.Â
Once youâre both done preparing your weapons, the two of you walk to Willâs room and rig up a simple snare. Jonathan grabs a yo-yo and you pull up a chair to set it on. The idea is that when the string gets pulled, itâll alert you that the monster has sprung the bear trap. Itâs not the most efficient warning system, but itâll have to do.Â
The last thing to do is set the bear trap, which takes all three of you to achieve. Jonathan and Nancy hold down the edges with their body weight and you very carefully set the trap with your hand. You shake a bit as you do so, but you force your nerves down. You remind yourself that Jonathan thinks youâre too weak, too cowardly, you have to prove him wrong.Â
When the bear trap clicks into place, you let out a harsh exhale and sink against the wall, your heart still pounding. Jonathan and Nancy copy you and the three of you sit in silence. Youâre still shaking a bit, and Jonathan is next to you just as tense, but for the first time since youâve met him you canât reach out to grab his hand to steady yourself. Heâs too far, both literally and figuratively. Even with him next to you, you couldnât be more far apart.Â
In the back of your mind, you hope the kids are alright. Hopefully theyâre having a better night than you currently are.Â
âCâmon,â you say after a few minutes, getting up to walk over to the living room. âWeâve done all we can, now we just have to draw some blood and be the prettiest bait in Hawkins.â
âÂ
Nancy and Jonathan decide to cut the palm of their hands, but you respectfully would rather die than have a matching scar with them. The idea makes you so uncomfortable you visibly cringe when Jonathan tells you the idea. âYeah, no thanks. I think Iâll find somewhere else to cut.âÂ
He looks hurt by what youâve said but doesnât voice it. Instead, the three of you stand in the living room in a triangle facing each other and he begins reciting the plan. âRememberâŚâ
Nancy goes first. âStraight into Willâs room andââÂ
âDonât step on the trap.â You finish.
Jonathan nods. âAnd then?â
âWait for the yo-yo to move.â The girl says.Â
âThenâŚâ Jonathan flicks the lighter on.
You whistle low. âLet there be lightâŚâÂ
âRight. Light.â The boy nods again. âAlright, we ready?â
âReady.â
âScar time.âÂ
Jonathan and Nancy bring their hands up and place their knives flat against their palms. You roll up your sleeve and place your own knife against the upper part of your arm, just below your shoulder, and take a deep breath.Â
âOn three,â Jonathan says. He begins counting and you all canât seem to stop shaking. He senses your unease and looks up at you and Nancy. âYou guys donât have to do this.â
Nancy glares at him, her own voice shaky. âJonathan, stop talking.â
You nod. âYeah, what she said.â
Jonathan tries to argue, but Nancy squeezes her eyes shut and yells, âThree!â
You close your own eyes and slice at your arm, the pain immediate. You gasp out, never having been good with pain, but you know you have to do this for Will. The blood trails down your arm, dripping from your elbow onto the ground, and you watch as blood from Jonathanâs and Nancyâs own cuts falls onto the ground too.Â
Well, at least itâll be an easy scar to hide compared to theirs.Â
âFuck, that stings.â You say to break the silence, and Nancy nods her head in agreement.Â
âNot the most pleasant feeling.âÂ
Jonathan guides the two of you over to the couch and grabs the first aid kit that you had prepared on the coffee table. He sits in the middle, leaving room for both you and Nancy on each side of him, but youâre still pissed at him and opt to sit on the floor in front of the couch.
Nancy begins to patch up his wound, and it takes everything within you not to reach over and help him yourself. It feels unnatural to watch someone else taking care of him, but the space between you still feels too vast to cross.Â
You patch up your own cut while the two of them talk quietly. You wind a bandage tight around your arm, ensuring you wonât bleed through, and Jonathan watches above you with guilt in his eyes. Nancy is trying to reassure him that everything will be okay, but as he watches you struggle to tie the bandage he wonders if heâs fucked up more than just your friendship.
âBug, let me help with that.â He leans down and ties your bandage before you can stop him.Â
You glare at him, still having not said anything to Jonathan besides what was needed for preparation. Nancy distracts herself by cleaning up around his cut and your stomach twists into knots. This is all so miserable.Â
âY/N, I know youâre upset with me and you can go whenever. I wonât blame you, youâve done enough for me.â Jonathan says, trying to catch your eye.Â
You turn away and inspect your bandage, still reeling over the fact that he tied it for you. âIâm here for Will, and only Will.â
âY/NâŚâ Thereâs a hurt in his voice that almost makes you turn around to throw your arms around his neck and whisper a million apologies to him. To tell him everything, that you love him and that youâd do anything for him and thatâs why youâre so terrified of how you feel. You know youâd burn yourself up if it meant heâd be taken care of, if it meant he was safe and happy and far away from anything that could harm him. You know youâd use up everything within you to love him.Â
Instead, you remain silent.
After getting no response from you, Jonathan clears his throat and begins to say something about how the lights will serve as an alarm for the monster, trying to pretend that everything is okay, but heâs cut off by a sudden pounding on the door.
You all jump and your fingers tighten around your switchblade, ready to open it. As your heart pounds you think of all the possible ways the plan could go wrong. When youâre on possibility number twelve, a voice calls through the door.Â
âJonathan?â
âIs that⌠Steve?â You say out loud, in complete disbelief.Â
Steve continues to pound on the door. âAre you there, man? Itâs⌠Itâs Steve! Listen, I just wanna talk!â
Youâre the first to react, standing up to run over to the door. You fling it open and step outside, making sure Steve wonât be able to see inside the house. When he sees you, he stumbles back a bit. âHenderson?â
His face is still bleeding from earlier and his hair is a mess, and yet thereâs a softness to him that you havenât seen before with him. âSteve, now isnât really a good time.â
âCan I just talk to Jonathan real quick? I just⌠I want to apologize about what happened earlier, see if we can maybeââ His eyes land on your bandaged arm. You curse and roll down your sleeve, feeling like an idiot for forgetting to hide the wound before going outside.Â
Steve reaches out to touch it, a hint of worry on his face and his voice is now full of concern. âHey, are you okay?â
You shiver at his touch, itâs gentle as he skims along the bandage and inspects it for any other problems. You pull away, now hiding the wound. âItâs nothing, but you should really go.â
âI want to help you, Y/N. Do you need me to get you anything?â His face is so full of worry for you that it makes you ache. Then a thought occurs to him. âWait, whereâs Byers? Why isnât he here to help you?â
Youâre about to make up a lie, but Nancy flings the door open. âSteve, listen to me.â
He looks between the two of you in complete shock. âOkay, whatââ
âYou need to leave.â Nancy orders.
Steve looks at you. âIâm not trying to start anything, okay?â
âI know, butââ You get cut off by Nancy.
âI donât care about that. You need to leave.â
Steve begins to plead with the girl and you step away a bit, not wanting to intrude. You feel bad for him, he looks so beat down by whatâs happened today and you suppose that you canât really blame him. After spending maybe a total of ten hours with Nancy and Jonathan, you also have come close to losing your mind.Â
If you were with Jonathan, if you truly had him, youâd react the same as Steve. Begging for the girl he loves to listen to him, to give him another chance with the promise of him changing.Â
âI just want to make things right.â Steve says, impressing you with his vulnerability. Heâs openly admitting to his mistakes and taking accountability mere hours after the situation has occurred, leaving you both in awe of him and also saddened for him. He loves Nancy more than anything, you can hear it in his voice.Â
He deserves better.Â
As youâre thinking this, you see his eyes flicker down towards Nancyâs bandaged hand and his brows furrow. âWhat happened to your hand? Is that blood?â His eyes now flicker over to you again. âWhy are you both hurt?â
âWeâre clumsy?â You say as Nancy yanks her hand away from Steve.
âIt was an accident.â She agrees.Â
Steve looks between the two of you, now sensing that something else is wrong. âWhatâs going on?âÂ
âNothing!â Nancy insists, but something in Steveâs demeanor shifts.Â
âWait a second, did he do this to you? To Y/N?â His once soft voice is now filled with anger and you step in front of him.Â
âSteve, it wasnât Jonathan. You need to go, I promise Iâll explain everything laterââÂ
He grabs you by your side and gently moves you so that he can get past and shove through the door. Nancy yells at him to stop and tries to push him out, but sheâs useless against his strength. When he manages to break in, he stumbles inside and scans over the house.Â
âShit!â You follow after him, your brain running a million miles a second trying to figure out how to explain everything to him.Â
âWhat the fuck?â Steve mumbles, eyeing the bat with nails in it. âY/N, whatâs going on here?â
Heâs looking to you for reassurance and you guess he assumes that the two of you are allies in this Jonathan and Nancy situation. You really wish you could explain, but Jonathan has grabbed him by the shoulders and is trying to push him outside. The two stumble around for a few seconds and you just helplessly watch.Â
âSteve, thereâs no time to explain, please just listen to Jonathan and get out of here!â Youâre helping Jonathan now, trying to get Steve out the door and away from harmâs reach, but heâs still fighting back confused and lost as ever and you pity him.Â
You hear a click and turn around, gasping when you see Nancy holding her gun up to Steve. âWoah, what the fuck Nancy?â
âWhat! What is going on?â Steve yells, now more panicked than anything else.Â
While Jonathan has stepped away, you find yourself standing in front of Steve as if to somehow block the bullet. You canât let him get hurt, he doesnât have any part of this, he can still have a normal and happy life if he just leaves now. âNancy, put the fucking gun down, this isnât helping!â
Steve pleads with her as well and the two of you scream at the girl to just listen and not swing around loaded weapons, but Nancy remains firm in her stance. âYou have five seconds to get out of here. Iâm doing this for you.â
âBecause holding a gun to his head is any better than telling him the truth?â You exclaim, entirely over the situation.Â
As the four of you are arguing, the lights begin to flicker. Steve and Nancy donât seem to notice, but you do. You look at Jonathan and say your first real words to him in hours. âJonathanâŚâ
He hears you and he runs over to your side, grabbing your hand as the two of you stand shoulder to shoulder. You feel your heartbeat race and you can feel him shaking beside you. Heâs terrified, so are you, but his hand around yours manages to steady you.Â
âNancy!â Jonathan tries to get the girlâs attention, but sheâs too busy counting down to hear him.Â
He shouts at her again and the lights start to flicker more wildly and you draw your switchblade out, adrenaline coursing through you. Itâs time.Â
Jonathan yells once more and finally catches Nancyâs attention. âThe lights!â
She whips her head around and curses, Jonathan, still tightly holding your hand, tugs you along so that you follow him as he secures his weapons and grabs the bat. âItâs here.â
âWhatâs here?â Steve is flailing around, utterly lost.
You all ignore him and now stand back to back in a triangle. Nancy holds up her gun, Jonathan wields his bat, and you flick your wrist to bring out your knives. âWhere is it?â
âI donât know!âÂ
The lights flicker rapidly and you feel overwhelmed. They were supposed to serve as a guide towards the monster, but there's no possible way to see which direction itâll come from and for a fleeting moment you think youâve made a huge mistake.Â
Steve is still screaming, demanding answers, but youâre too busy scanning your surroundings to offer him some information. âHello? Will someone please explain to me what the hell is goingââ
The roof opens up, cutting Steve off, and you scream as the monster attempts to come down right above you. Jonathan shields you from the fallen debris and you cling onto him in utter fear. This isnât real. This cannot be happening.Â
Nancy begins to shoot at the thing while Jonathan guides you to safety. He brings you to the edge of the living room and holds your face in his hands, forcing you to really look at him for the first time all night. âListen to me, stay here while I get Nancy.â
He kisses your forehead and then leaves, rushing over to Nancy to pull her away and guide her towards Willâs room. Steve stands next to you, frozen, and it forces you back to reality. The plan, you have to stick to the plan.Â
You grab Steveâs hand and yank him so that he follows. The monster has dropped down now, a horrible creature on all fours that opens its gaping mouth to let out a horrible screech that you feel deep within your bones. This is what killed Barb.Â
The four of you run to Willâs room and you only just barely have enough time to warn Steve about the bear trap. You look over your shoulder and shout, âJump!â right as your ankle catches on its chains.Â
You fall. Hard.Â
Pain sears through your ankle and you try to get up, but any pressure on it sends flames through your entire body and you let out another scream. The monster catches up, looming over you, and you brace for your death. Thereâs no fucking way youâre getting out of this.Â
You squeeze your eyes as the monster stalks close to you, its ugly mouth open and ready to kill you. Jonathan is screaming at you to get up, but Nancy is holding him back from helping. Youâre relieved by this, knowing that someone has to be there for Will once this is all done. Heâll need his brother, and Nancy seems to understand this. You catch her eye and nod at her, sending a silent thank you.Â
âBug! No, let go of me! I have to help her, Nancy!â Jonathanâs voice becomes hoarse by how loud he screams, his voice breaking with fear and desperation.Â
Then, right before the monster lunges at you, you feel a familiar pair of arms slide underneath your legs and pick you up. âWhatââ
Steve Harrington has swooped in to save you, picking you up as if you weigh nothing, ever the athlete, and swiftly jumps over the bear trap while screaming his head off. âOh my god, oh my god, oh my god!â
Youâre so delirious from the pain in your ankle and the adrenaline pumping through your veins that you canât help but let a laugh escape you. No fucking way is any of this real. Steve Harrington is carrying you bridal style into Willâs bedroom with Jonathan and Nancy as witnesses.Â
What a life.Â
Once youâre both secured in the room, Steve sets you down gently right as Nancy yells at him to shut up. As soon as Steve lets go of you, Jonathan is at your side and pulls you into a crushing hug.Â
âBug.â He breathes out against your ear, relief heavy.Â
âIâm okay.â You tell him, threading your fingers through his hair. Heâs shaking harder than ever, and holding onto you as if heâs scared heâll lose you again. âIâm okay, bee.âÂ
He pulls away and his hands are all over you, checking everywhere for any other injuries. âDid it hurt you, are you bleeding? There should be a first aid kitââ
You grab his hands and kiss his knuckles, which seems to calm him down a bit. âIâm fine, just twisted my ankle. If you help me up, Iâm sure Iâll be able to stand again.âÂ
Jonathan quickly helps you to your feet and you lean against him for the extra support. While you put on a brave face for Jonathan, youâre terrified out of your fucking mind. You almost died. Jonathan is still holding your hand and heâs looking at you as if seeing you for the first time and you force yourself to look away. Itâs the same look from the field days ago, when you thought heâd kiss you.Â
You have to focus on whatâs at stake.
How the hell are you guys supposed to kill this thing?
The monster screeches, breaking the moment between you and Jonathan, and he flicks his lighter on and forces you to stand behind him. Nancy holds up her gun and you bring your knives closer to your face, Steve standing weaponless behind you.Â
You all wait, tense, for the monster. It stalks closer to the room, its awful growls alerting you of its proximity, but it doesnât appear.Â
âWhatâs it doing?â Nancy asks, frustrated.Â
âI donât know.â You respond, equally as frustrated and scared.Â
Another few agonizing seconds pass, and you stare at the yo-yo and hope that it remains still. Then, the lights stop flickering and it becomes quiet. All you can hear is your blood roaring in your ears.Â
Nancy looks around. âDo you hear anything?â
âNo,â Jonathan shakes his head, inching closer to the door.Â
âWait!â You tug at your still interlocked hands. You pick up his bat that had been thrown on the ground and hand it to him. âBe careful. Please.â
He gives your hand one last squeeze before letting go, accepting the bat.
As Jonathan pokes his head out to see if the monster is outside, Steve bends his head down and whispers in your ear, âRomantic.â
âShut. Up.â You hit him in the chest, fearfully watching your best friend to make sure he doesn't die. When he motions an all clear, Nancy follows him outside, then you, then Steve.Â
The house is silent and your heart sinks when you see that the bear trap has been left untouched. You realize with a horrible gut wrench that the monster is smarter than the three of you had anticipated.Â
So much for your plan, then.
âItâs smarter than we thought.âÂ
âYeah,â Jonathan agrees with dismay.Â
He stalks against the wall towards the living room and you all follow in a single file line. You do your best to stick close to the wall but you limp with every step. Your ankle is definitely out of commission for now. Great.Â
All of you are on edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop. It couldnât have been that easy, thereâs no possible way that the monster simply up and left. You enter the living room, which has gotten even more wrecked due the monster. The wallpaper has been torn off of some parts of the wall and you see papers scattered everywhere.Â
âShitâŚâ you mumble, kicking at a shredded wallpaper strip.Â
In the corner, Steve has started to hyperventilate and mumble to himself. âThis is crazy, this is so crazy, this is fucking crazy.âÂ
You limp over to him and grab his shoulders, making him face you. âSteve, hey. Itâs okay, Iâm here.â
âY/N, what the hell just happened?âÂ
âItâs⌠complicated. For now, can you trust me that everything will be okay?âÂ
âOf course I trust you, itâs justâŚâ He nods, his eyes softening. You lessen your hold on him and give him a smile, he seems to be calming down. Then, he looks around the room and seemingly remembers where he is. âThis is crazy!âÂ
Steve lunges for the phone on the wall and tries to call for help.Â
You stumble after him, the pain in your ankle slowing you down. âSteve, waitââ
Nancy gets to him first, grabbing the phone out of his hand and throwing it across the room. He looks at her, shocked. âWhat are you doing? Are you insane?â
âItâs going to come back!â Nancy yells at him, and you wince at the way she treats him. You know Steve will only listen to her, but she could at least be nicer about the whole situation. The three of you have had some time to process everything happening, Steve was thrown into the deep end.Â
âYou could be a little nicer,â you mumble, and Nancy sends you a glare. You raise your hands up in surrender. âSorry.âÂ
âSteve, you need to leave. Right now.â
He looks so overwhelmed and you give him a pitying look. He stares at you, reminiscent of the way he looked at you earlier in the alley, silently begging you to say something, anything, but again you can only shake your head at him. You wonât force him to stay, it wouldnât be fair.
âY/N, pleaseâŚâ He tries one more time to get you on his side, but you canât. Frustrated by your lack of response, Steve groans. âFuck it!âÂ
He runs out the door.Â
Youâll admit that youâre a bit disappointed, but you also understand. Who in their right mind would stay?Â
You and Nancy share a look before the lights begin to flicker again. Dread fills you. âFuckâŚâ
Jonathan is back by your side and he and Nancy again form a triangle with you, all your backs pressed together as you desperately try to locate the monster. You all stumble in a circle, searching for any sign of the thing, but thereâs nothing.Â
âWhere is it?â Nancy gasps out.
âJust fucking show yourself!â You shout, just wanting this all to be over with. Your body is drained from living in a state of fear for so long.Â
âCome on you son of a bitch!â Jonathan echoes your taunts.Â
Suddenly the lights turn off and youâre left alone in complete darkness. Faintly you can hear the monsterâs familiar growl approaching from behind you. The hair on the back of your neck stands up, the air stands still. Itâs back. Before you can react, it pounces on Jonathan.Â
âJonathan!â You scream alongside Nancy. Desperation takes over you and before you can even process whatâs happening, you ignore the pain in your ankle and jump onto its back, stabbing repeatedly at it.Â
Your blades only bounce off of its thick skin and the monster struggles to get you off. You hold on as tight as you can, shouting and kicking at it so that it canât hurt him, but then it opens its mouth and for a horrifying moment youâre afraid that Jonathan will die.
âNo!â You scream even louder than before and double down on your effort, stabbing and slashing as much as you possibly can to try and create some damage, but your arms are starting to ache and your ankle now feels like itâs on fire.Â
âNancy, its skin is too thick!â You sob out, nearing complete exhaustion. Then, just as youâre about to collapse from exhaustion, gunshots fill the room.Â
Nancy begins to shoot at the monster and with the help of your blades, the two of you manage to pierce its skin, but even then the damage is minimal. Itâs not enough, it wonât be enough. Tears stream down your face and the monster only gets closer to Jonathan, so you do the only thing you can think of: you crawl onto the top of its body and stab at its mouth.Â
The monster lets out a blood curdling scream and flings you off of its back. You go flying across the room and land against the wall with a groan. All the air has been knocked out of you and your ribs are definitely going to be bruised tomorrow. Every part of you aches, but you manage to lift your head up and blearily process the monster now approaching Nancy as she continues to shoot at it, but it remains unphased.Â
You crawl over to Jonathan, who is still laying on the ground. Heâs motionless, and you fight everything within you not to break down and sob. You have to keep going, he has to be alive. As you reach Jonathan and frantically check for a pulse, the monster has now cornered Nancy and her gun seems to be out of bullets.
Itâs over. You know it is.Â
Right as youâve accepted your fate, a screaming Steve Harrington wielding Jonathanâs bat once again manages to save the day.Â
He hits the monster with the bat, effectively saving Nancy and youâre so impressed with his batting skills that you almost find him attractive with how easily he hits and dodges the monster. However, you file those thoughts away for later and finally manage to wake Jonathan up. He startles with a gasp and you check over his chest, scared he may have gotten pierced by the monsterâs claws.Â
âIâm fine, we need to help.â
You help each other up and you have to lean heavily against him due to your ankle. You bull riding the monster has only made the sprain worse; youâre too afraid to look down and see the damage thatâs been done.Â
As the two of you hobble over to Nancy, Jonathan looks at you. âIs Harrington really here right now?â
âYes.â
âLovely.â
Steve manages to lure the monster closer and closer to the bear trap and you watch him in awe. Heâs quick footed and so sure of himself, the complete opposite of the boy from only ten minutes ago who had run out of the house screaming his head off. Now, Steve is swift with his hits and even twirls the bat in his hand to show off. The small act causes you to smile despite the horrible circumstances.Â
By the time you and Jonathan are up and recovered, Steve has successfully led the monster straight into the trap. It clamps around the monsterâs foot and it screeches, flailing around in the trap. Steve still has his bat held up, now frantically looking over to everyone else. âHeâs in the trap! Heâs stuck!â
âJonathan, now!â Nancy screams, motioning over at him to use his lighter.Â
Jonathan listens, using his free hand to flick the lighter on and then drops it onto the ground, right into the trail of gasoline. Immediately the monster goes up in flames, letting out horrible noises. You all shield your faces from the flames and Jonathan pulls you closer into him, still having yet to let go of you; you feel yourself sink into his side as you watch the monster wither away.
âBug, I have to get the fire extinguisher, do you think you can stand on your own?â Jonathan asks you, his voice soft but urgent.Â
You quickly nod and brace yourself for his departure. âYeah, go.âÂ
He lets go of you as gently as possible before running to grab the extinguisher. When he has it, he orders everyone to get back and then smothers the flames. It takes a couple seconds, but eventually the fire gets put out, leaving behind an awful stench that makes everyone cough and gag.Â
âHoly fuck,â you wheeze out, hunched over. âBurnt monster smells horrible.âÂ
âYeah, no kidding.â Steve coughs out.Â
Nancy covers her face with her jacket. âWhere did it go?â
âIt has to be dead.â Jonathan pants against the wall, looking like heâs three seconds away from passing out. âIt has to be.â
âIt fucking better be dead.â You mumble, hobbling closer to see what exactly was left behind. When you get closer and see the giant lump of melted skin all over the bear trap, you gag. âOh god. Yeah, okay. Itâs dead.â
Everyone sighs with relief.Â
Then, you notice a Christmas light above you flicker on. Your heart stops, terrified that the monster has somehow survived, but then a second one turns on, then a third, until a path seems to be guiding you towards the living room.Â
You all follow, cautious but curious, but these lights donât feel threatening. Thereâs an energy to them, a comforting one that leaves you breathless. When you get to the living room, tears form in your eyes, now understanding what this all is. You look at Jonathan, who also seems to be thinking what you are.Â
Itâs Joyce, you know it is.Â
âMom,â he breathes out.Â
You limp over to him and grab his hand. He turns to you, his eyes shining with an appreciation that he only ever has for you. He seems to be drinking you in, as if now realizing just how close the two of you came to dying tonight. Youâre doing the same, thankful that heâs alive and standing next to you despite everything. Thereâs so much the two of you want to say, but as always the words arenât needed. You understand each other perfectly, the balance between you centered once more.Â
You put your head on Jonathanâs shoulder and he brings his hand to your hair to softly stroke it. The two of you stand like that for a second, breathing each other in and enjoying the tenderness after such a miserable day, before you slowly break apart and follow the lights going outside.Â
The porch light flickers and Nancy stands next to you, watching it with uncertainty. âWhereâs it going?â
âI donât think itâs the monster.â Jonathan tells her.Â
âItâs Will.â You donât know how you know this, or what makes you feel so certain that youâre right, but somehow you know that you are. Somewhere deep within you, you feel the faint outline of hope flicker.Â
A new silence surrounds the four of you at your words, and for once thereâs hope between you all. Then, after a minute or so of silence, everyone begins to head back inside. Steve first, then Nancy, and finally Jonathan, leaving you alone with the crisp early winter air.
You take a deep breath, the cold air serving as a reminder that youâre alive. You let it fill your lungs until you canât breathe in anymore, then you release the air through an exhale and feel your body settle into its exhaustion. This is the first time youâve had a moment to yourself, so you let the exhaustion weigh upon you like a warm blanket.Â
Will is safe, you can feel it. Despite everything, heâs safe and alive. Jonathan is too, still your best friend regardless of all the unspoken words between the two of you. Dustin is at the school with the kids, away from danger. Everything is okay, itâll be okay.Â
You let the moment wash over you, incredibly grateful to be lucky enough to have survived it all. Everyone you love and hold close to you is safe. You didnât fuck up this time. God, you did it.Â
Jonathan comes running out after a while, his face alight with joy and he crashes into you and picks you up to twirl you around. You laugh, loud and freely, and bury your face in his hair as he continues. âBee, stop! Put me down, you dummy!âÂ
He does as heâs told, but doesnât let go of you once your feet are on the ground. âMy mom just called, they saved Will. Heâheâs in the hospital, heâs okay.âÂ
You squeal and throw your arms around Jonathan again, squeezing him so hard that youâre afraid you'll hurt him, but he simply laughs and squeezes you just as tight. Tears come again, but this time theyâre happy ones, and if it werenât for your ankle youâd be jumping up and down right now.Â
Jonathanâs laughter dies down and he cups your chin around his fingers so that you look up at him. âYou did it.âÂ
âWe did it, bug.â You softly push against him. You canât take all the credit.Â
His eyes are shining again, you havenât seen him this happy in so long, you get lost in it. His face is lit up and his smile is back and youâre so in love with him that it claws against your throat and threatens to spill out in excess.
A beat of silence passes and Jonathan just soaks your presence in. You canât quite read his face, but for once this doesnât frighten you. You enjoy it, you relish in the fact that heâs still yours yet now forming into someone new and lovely and wonderful.Â
âYou never gave up.â He whispers at last, adoration in his voice.Â
âNever.âÂ
âYou never left me.âÂ
âNever.â You breathe out, the word so simple with such heavy weight behind it.Â
The moment is so raw, so tender, and Jonathan is giving you that look again, the one that leaves you feeling like the sun itself has settled upon you and kissed your cheek. His eyes flick down to your lips and you smile, taunting him to lean in. He seems to understand, giving you his own teasing smile before leaning in. You lean in as well, every part of you buzzing, and right before your lips touch his, Steve bursts through the door.
âJonathan, dude, do you have like, any food in the house?â He asks, completely oblivious to what heâs just interrupted.Â
You and Jonathan break apart, laughing the tension away. He ducks his head down, clears his throat, and turns to Steve. âSorry, man. Been a little busy this week for grocery shopping.â
Steveâs eyes bulge out of his head. âOh shit, right. Sorry, okay. Uh⌠Well, Iâll be inside, I guess.âÂ
âWeâll be in shortly.â You tell Steve. You want to be frustrated by his timing, but something tells you that youâll have all the time in the world to tell Jonathan how you feel. Now just isnât the time.Â
âÂ
The moment you arrive at the hospital, Jonathan sprints out of the car and straight towards the front desk to find out where Will is. You and Nancy follow behind, figuring you wonât be able to see Will for a while since youâre not blood related, so the two of you wish Jonathan goodbye and head towards the waiting room.Â
Steve lags behind, obviously unsure where to go. Nancy immediately walks inside, but you notice his hesitation and nudge his shoulder. âIâm sure that the cut on your eyebrow needs to be looked out. Letâs go sit, okay?â
He sighs deeply. âYeah, sure. Totally. Letâs go sit in a room full of people who probably hate me. No biggie.â
âEither come or donât.â You shrug. âBut the way I see it, you can start mending some metaphorical wounds while you wait in there.â
You donât wait for Steve to figure out what to do, you know that Dustin is somewhere inside the waiting room and youâre buzzing to see him and the rest of the kids. You hobble inside, still very much in pain due to your injuries, but the moment you see your brother it all fades away.Â
He runs into your arms and almost knocks you down with the force. Dustin clings onto you, mumbling over and over again how sorry he is.Â
âHey, wait a second,â you pull him away and crouch down, groaning a bit at the pain. âWhat are you sorry about? What happened?â
You look around the room and see everyone there. Nancy, Hopper, the kids, Steve, even Nancyâs parents, but thereâs someone missingâŚ
âEl,â you breathe out.Â
Dustinâs lip trembles and he begins to cry. You soothe him, grabbing his hand to bring him over to the seats and sit between him and Mike. Lucas is to the left of Dustin and you canât help but notice how all the boys have dried tears in their eyes.Â
When theyâre ready, you have the kids explain what happened, and the more they tell you, the more guilty you feel. You shouldâve been there for them, you left them all alone with that monster. You got Will back, and yet youâve lost El as a result. It seems that no matter what you do, itâll never quite be enough in the end.Â
âItâs not your fault.â You tell Dustin, who still keeps apologizing. It was you who had left him in charge, youâre why El ended up vanquished by the monster. âYou did everything you could. I shouldnât have left you guys all alone, but Iâm proud that you all took care of one another, okay?â
He sniffs and nods his head, but you know he doesnât believe you. All the boys are somber; you know itâll take time for them to recover. So, you do what you do best, you console them. You hold their hands and rub their backs and offer your spare comics in your bag. You do whatever you can to comfort them, to reassure them that theyâre safe now and that no one will hurt them, but the light in their eyes has dimmed.Â
Theyâll never be the same again.Â
And El⌠she had been so young, you donât think youâll ever not feel the heavy weight of guilt whenever you think of her. She had been so sweet and had trusted you.Â
You shouldâve been there, you wish you couldâve saved her.
Steve watches from his seat across from you. He listens in as you comfort the boys, taking care of them in such a natural way. He admires this softer side of you, one he hasnât quite seen before. Sure, youâve always been gentle and sincere, but watching you with the kids is something special in itself. You manage to get them to laugh, you offer them your shoulder to cry or sleep on, and you read aloud to them stories from your comics and Steve finds himself drawn towards your interactions with the kids.Â
Itâs sweet, something delicate and lovely, and Steve admires everything that you are. When he sees you awkwardly stand up and stumble over to the vending machines in the hall, Steve finds himself following after you.Â
-
âBitch!â You slam the palm of your hand against the vending machine in vain. The bag of chips hangs by the little spiral, taunting you.Â
âThatâs not a very nice word, Henderson.âÂ
You turn and see Steve, leaning against the wall with a fond expression. âYou stalking me?â
âNah, just wanted to watch you fight against a vending machine.â
âHa,â you snort, turning back to the machine. âUnless you can help me get this last chip bag, youâre free to go sit back down.â
You mean it to be a joke, not expecting Steve to actually listen, but heâs at your side within a second. âStep back, let Steve handle her.âÂ
âWhatââ
Steve motions for you to move, so you reluctantly do as youâre told. Once youâre out of the way, Steve claps his hands, stretches out his neck, and then begins to aggressively shake the vending machine.Â
âThat is so not what youâre supposed to doââ
Suddenly the bag drops down from the hook and into the retrieval slot. Steve reaches inside, grabs the bag, and then dangles it in the air. âTada!âÂ
You laugh and grab the bag from him. âOkay, Iâll admit, that was impressive.âÂ
âWhat can I say? Iâm charming like that.âÂ
âSure,â you smile at him, neither of you have moved yet. Heâs still standing in front of you with that cocky smile on his face thatâs slowly started to warm on you. You truly do understand why so many girls have fallen for him. If you ever saw Steve on the street, a stranger passing by, youâd fall a little bit in love with him yourself.
The thought startles you. âWell, uhâŚâ
âYes?â Steve raises his eyebrows at you, smiling.Â
âThank you for the chips. The kids havenât eaten anything in hours, soâŚâ You wave the three bags in your arms. âGotta keep 'em fed.â
âWait a second, thereâs only three bags there. Arenât you going to eat anything?â
âI only had enough money for the boyâs chips.â You say, feeling suddenly sheepish. âItâs fine, though. Iâll just eat a few pieces from them and wait until we get home.â
Steve scoffs. âYeah, no.â
You frown at him, confused as he rustles through his jean pocket and pulls out his wallet. âI donât want your moneyââ
He doesnât listen and simply puts the cash into the vending machine and punches in a few numbers. Slowly, one by one, multiple different bags of sweets and chips come falling down within the machine. Once the last one has dropped, Steve bends down and offers the huge stash to you.Â
âA feast, on me.â He winks at you and you canât help but blush.Â
âTâthanks, I guess.â You now carefully balance the rest of the snacks in your arms, the mound almost blocking your view. Youâre not sure how much Steve just paid, but with all these snacks you and the kids will surely be well fed.Â
Steve shrugs, and if you werenât so tired youâd think the blush on his face was a real one. âItâs the least I can do, all things considered.â
His words give you pause. You know heâs referencing earlier today, back in the alley where fists slammed against skin and he had dragged you away from your best friend, but the memory feels like years ago. So much has happened since then, Steve has saved your life since then.Â
âSteveâŚâ Your ankle is starting to sting again from standing for so long, so you adjust your footing and try to figure out what you want to say. âI never got to thank you back at Jonathanâs.â
âThank me?â His face scrunches in confusion in a sickeningly cute way that it almost distracts you.
âYes. You saved my life tonight, Steve. I wonât ever forget that.âÂ
âOhâŚThereâs no need to thank me. I mean, what are friends for?â Steve freezes and clears his throat. âI mean, shit. We arenât friends, you keep saying that. Sorry. You know what I mean.â
You know you shouldnât, but you laugh. Honestly, after everything youâve been through tonight with Steve, how can he possibly think the two of you arenât friends?
âWhy are you laughing?â Steve mumbles, confused.Â
âSorry,â you wheeze out, still uncontrollably laughing. âItâs justâI mean, dude! We almost died together, of course weâre friends now!â
âWe are?â He looks like a little kid on Christmas day being given the gift heâs always wanted.
Your heart warms. âYes, idiot.â
Steve starts moving around in what you can only guess is a happy dance. âSweet! Does this mean I get a cool nickname, too?â
âA nickname?â A bag of chips threatens to fall from your arms, but Steve catches it before it can land on the ground and takes a few more snacks off of your hands.Â
He readjusts the snacks he now has so that he can carry them easier. âYeah, I mean. Byers has one, why canât I?â
You donât think youâll ever stop feeling so thrown every time Steve mentions a small detail about you that heâs somehow come to notice. He has a habit of doing that, surprising you by how much he seems to pay attention to you. You thought that no one ever had before, but Steve continues to prove you wrong.Â
âIâll tell ya what,â you begin to walk back towards the waiting room, careful to step carefully to not drop anything or upset your ankle. âLetâs see how this âfriendsâ thing works out, then Iâll decide what nickname fits you best. Deal?â
Steve thinks for a moment and follows. âHmm. I donât know, I think Iâll need some type of precaution to make sure you give me a nickname in the end. I want one, Y/N. Iâm so serious right now.â
You laugh at his pleading tone. âI can add you to my baking list. Whatever I bake, youâll get a piece of it. Is that better?â
âGod, yes!â Steve punches the air and cheers.Â
Youâre smiling so much that your face aches. You havenât felt this light and carefree in so long, youâd almost forgotten what itâs like. The two of you donât say anything else as you walk back to the waiting room, though Steve seems to slow down so that you donât hurt your ankle keeping up, though you still let out a few winces and groans.
When youâve arrived back at your seat, Steve sets down the snacks and runs off without another word. Youâre confused by his sudden departure but donât think much of it. Instead, you wake the boys up and show them your array of snacks, which wakes them up immediately.Â
Youâre mediating a fight between Mike and Lucas over who gets the bag of Chips Ahoy when a nurse interrupts. âExcuse me, maâam. This young man over here told me I should come over and check out your ankle?â
The woman smiles and you look past her and see Steve sheepishly waving from his seat across from you. Youâre stunned. Had he really gone out of his way to ensure your ankle gets treated?
You shake the thoughts out of your head and inform the woman all she needs to know. You tell her how youâd fallen and what type of pain you feel when you stand up. She inspects the ankle, her fingers cold but kind, and within a few minutes has diagnosed you with a sprained ankle.Â
âAll you can really do is stay off of it for a few weeks while it heals. I can go and get you some crutches, if youâd like?â She asks, rolling her gloves off and tucking them back into her pocket.
You nod. âIf you wouldnât mind, thatâd be great.â
The nurse leaves with the promise of being back soon. In the meantime she instructs you to keep your ankle elevated, so you prop it against the coffee table and wait. Youâre annoyed that you even have to have crutches, but then you think of Barb, of El. Youâre luckier than you should be.Â
âÂ
After an hour or so, Jonathan opens the door to the waiting room. He spots you and Mike talking softly with each other and whistles over to catch your attention. When Mike looks up, Jonathan nods at him and the boy scrambles out of his seat.Â
âGuys! Guys! Heâs up, Will is up!â Mike shakes awake Lucas and Dustin, who had been cuddling on the seats fast asleep. âWillâs up!â
Once theyâre awake, they quickly follow after Mike and the three boys are gone in an instant, sprinting down the hall towards Willâs room. Clearly theyâre eager to see their friend.Â
You do your best to get up as fast as possible, but your new crutches serve more as a nuisance rather than an aid. As you struggle to get up, somehow knocking over the mountain of snacks, Steve rushes over.Â
He grabs the crutches and offers you his hand. âHere, careful.â
âThanks,â you awkwardly accept his hand and get up. Jonathan watches from the doorway, a curious look on his face. Nancy does the same from her seat, not saying a word as she watches Steve gently help you navigate the waiting room with your injury.Â
Jonathan holds the door open for you and takes over once youâre out the door. He grabs the crutches from Steve and is now the one to hold your hand, balancing you. âI can take it from here, Harrington.â
âRight, yeah.â Steve scratches the back of his head and coughs. âIâll just⌠yeah.âÂ
He heads back inside and you and Jonathan watch as he leaves. As soon as heâs out of earshot, Jonathan turns to you. âAre you two friends now or something?â
âWe almost died tonight, bee. I think itâs safe to call Steve a friend now.â
Jonathan bites his lip, though thereâs a far off look in his eye that leaves you feeling like youâve missed something in the conversation. âGuess thatâs true. Anyways, letâs get you to Will.â
By the time you make it to the room, the boys have swarmed around Will and are telling him everything heâs missed this week. Heâs listening eagerly as theyâre telling him about El, but when he sees you enter the room, his eyes light up and he tries to sit up.Â
âY/N!â Will calls out, pure excitement in his voice.Â
You practically fall over in your haste to get to him. The second youâre close enough, you collapse onto his bed and give him the tightest hug you possibly can without hurting him. He feels so small against you, smaller than heâs ever felt before, and his sunken eyes and pale skin make you want to cry.Â
But heâs alive and here and in your arms once again, happy and wonderful and safe.Â
âLittle bee,â you try not to cry, but tears are thick in your voice. âI missed you.â
Will manages a weak smile and shrugs, trying to play off the gravity of the situation. âTook a little detour home.âÂ
You laugh and ruffle his hair. âAt least you came home, thatâs all that matters.â
âAhem,â Mike obnoxiously clears his throat, effectively ending your moment with Will. âYouâre hogging Will, move over.âÂ
You laugh again and move away, allowing the boys to resume their millions of updates. You maneuver your crutches and walk over to Jonathan, who is standing by the door. Heâs looking at the boys and Will with a soft smile on his face and you join him, standing side by side as you watch your boys finally come together again.Â
Then, you feel a pair of eyes on you and you turn around. Nancy is leaning against the doorway behind you; she looks frail and distraught. Thereâs a sadness in her eyes as she watches the kids. You know that watching the boys reunite with their friend must remind her of Barb. She never got her happy reunion.Â
You feel awful for the girl, so when her bittersweet smile drops and she turns to leave the room, you nudge Jonathan to make him aware of the situation. He sees her fleeing and begins to follow after her, but he stops.Â
âWhat are you waiting for? Go.â You tell him, knowing itâs for the best.Â
He shifts his weight, uncertain. âAre you sure?â
Youâre not sure how to decipher the hidden meanings underneath those three words, but you find that youâre exhausted trying to keep reading between the lines. The feelings youâve kept buried bubble to the surface, but you remind yourself that he loves Nancy, despite your weird moments of almost with him. Thereâs something there between you and Jonathan, you both can feel it, but it feels too raw and fragile to bring into the light.Â
Without having to ask, you know that Jonathan will choose her.Â
It breaks your heart, but you look over at Dustin and Will, who are laughing about some joke while Joyce gazes at them fondly, and you know that you canât lose this. Maybe Jonathan knows this, too. The small family youâve built together, itâs too precious to ruin.Â
Joyce and your boys, you canât lose them. Theyâre yours, and Jonathan is yours in a way that you canât quite keep to yourself forever, but for now itâs enough. You approach Joyce, grab her hand and give her a tired smile, and the smile she returns to you reminds you that this is more than enough for you.Â
You turn to Jonathan, pushing down your feelings once more in favor of appreciating the fact that Will is looking at you again, alive. âGo, bee.âÂ
Jonathan gives you one last look. You study his face for a moment, watching as it shifts from confusion, to hurt, then finally into acceptance. Youâll never be sure of what exactly heâd been thinking in that moment, but it seemed to have been enough for him, too.
He smiles, lets out a deep breath, and then leaves.
The door closes softly behind him.Â
âÂ
A month later you find yourself in the passenger seat of Jonathan's car, tired from your shift at Bookstrordinary but excited to pick up your brothers. Somehow, even after missing three consecutive shifts last month, Mrs. Waters refused to fire you.Â
But Jonathan? He hadnât been so lucky. His boss fired him from the Hawk, but he hadnât been too upset. He still drives you to and from work, so you suppose things could be worse.Â
Itâs late, but the two of you take your time driving to the Wheelerâs. Nothing much has changed between you two following Willâs reappearance. Sure, maybe youâre at his house more just to make sure Will is adapting well, but besides that everything seemed to go back to normal.Â
Well, almost normal.Â
Steve appeared at your job a few days after your conversation in the hospital. He had surprised you when you walked in, and when you asked what he was doing in a bookstore, Steve simply shrugged and said, âYou canât figure out my nickname if we donât hang out, right? So, Iâm here.â
He had become a regular at the store, stopping by whenever he could, and slowly the two of you became good friends. Youâve come to enjoy Steveâs presence, something that you never thought would ever happen. But he keeps you company as you work, he wanders around and explores the comics and books you recommend to him, and itâs nice having someone to goof off with.Â
Plus, you did promise to add him to your baking list, so heâs also become your taste tester who happily eats any creation you bring in for him.
As for NancyâŚ
That was more of a sore subject for Jonathan.Â
There was a few weeks following Willâs reappearance that you thought Jonathan and Nancy would get together, but it never happened. Youâre not quite sure why, maybe it had something to do with Jonathanâs hesitation of approaching her, but it had crushed him when you and he saw Nancy and Steve making out in the hall as if nothing bad had ever happened.Â
The way Jonathanâs face crumbled when he saw the couple only solidified that heâd never be yours, but you comforted him anyways. You told him he deserved better and then dragged him away. Itâd taken him a few days, but eventually Jonathan was able to fake a smile again.Â
You havenât spoken about it since that day, but you leave your window open most nights for him to crawl in. The nightmares from that night fighting the monster plague you both, and the loneliness feels a little heavier than usual, but at least you have each other.Â
âJonathan! Y/N! Come in, the boys are downstairs.â Mrs. Wheeler answers the door, letting the two of you in. âAnd Y/N, I love that sweater on you.â
You thank the woman. âIt was a gift from my mom. She claims I need to up my wardrobe, whatever that means.â
âWell, I think she has lovely taste.âÂ
âIâll let you know you think so!â You open the basement door and motion for Jonathan to go down first.Â
When he reaches the bottom of the steps, Jonathan makes a face. âWoah, whatâs that smell? Have you guys been playing games all day, or just farting?â
âMy vote is farting.â You say, hopping down the last step. Your ankle has mostly healed by now, but sometimes if you land on it wrong it makes a weird clicking noise followed by some pain, but you choose to pretend that itâs normal.Â
The boys laugh and Lucas points at your brother. âOh, thatâs just Dustin. He farted.â
He begins making fart noises with his mouth and you and Dustin share a look. âVery mature, Lucas.â
The boy continues to sing and make fart noises and you canât believe that this is your life. Youâre standing in a smelly basement while picking up your stubborn brother all while simultaneously enjoying the fact that you get to call this your life.Â
Jonathan calls over to Will to grab his things, so you follow suit and gently berate Lucas. âAlright, thatâs enough. I gotta get Dustin home.â
âWhat, I thought I got to stayââ
âJonathan is our ride and I made cookies, so letâs go.â
The moment the word âcookiesâ leaves your mouth, Dustin hops up and collects his things without any further argument.Â
Once heâs ready, he and Lucas play wrestle as they say goodbye. While theyâre distracted, you walk over to Mike and discreetly hand him a container full of double fudge brownies. Youâd specifically made them for him, knowing they were his favorite, because you noticed how hard itâs been for him to adjust to El being gone. He really cared about her, anyone could see that.Â
Mikeâs eyes widen and he throws his arms around you. âThanks, Y/N.â
You pat his back. âAnytime, Wheeler.â
Dustin breaks away from Lucas and runs up the stairs, so you take that as your cue to leave.Â
Upstairs, Jonathan and Will are talking to Mrs. Wheeler. When they see you enter, the woman turns to you and asks if youâll be bringing over your usual round of holiday treats. âOf course, Iâll get started on them tomorrow. You guys still like the sugarbread cookies?â
âIf you make them, I think Iâll die of happiness.â Mrs. Wheeler informs you, and you laugh and tell her that youâll have them ready as soon as possible.Â
You bid her goodbye, Dustin now by your side, and you follow Jonathan and Will to the front door. Right before you open the door, Nancy calls Jonathanâs name from the top of the stairs.Â
âHey, Jonathan, wait up!âÂ
You, Dustin, and Will stand awkwardly in the back while Nancy hands Jonathan a wrapped gift and wishes him a merry Christmas. They share an awkward exchange since Jonathan hadnât gotten her anything, but Nancy assures him that itâs fine. The interaction is painful to watch as Nancy doesnât spare you a single glance. Dustin and Will look at you uncertainly when she kisses Jonathanâs cheek, but you ignore them and pretend to be interested in a Christmas decoration on the table.
This will never get any easier.Â
âYou ready?â Jonathan turns back to you guys, a blush on his face, and all you can do is silently nod.Â
In the car you sit in the back with Dustin, who squeezes your arm in reassurance. Heâs come to understand your complex feelings for Jonathan and has pieced together Nancyâs involvement. While heâs never outright consoled you, heâs shown his support in other small and wonderful ways.Â
âThanks,â you whisper, and Dustin smiles.Â
âWe all buckled up?â Jonathan asks as he starts up the car.Â
âYes, captain.â You mock salute.Â
Will giggles at you before he sees the gift and looks up at Jonathan. âCan I open it?â
âYeah, sure.âÂ
You and Dustin lean forward so you can see whatâs in the box. When Will unwraps a beautiful, and no doubt expensive, camera, you gasp. The bitterness and hurt from moments ago vanishes. This gift is from Steve, you know it is, and something warm settles deep within your bones.Â
You think about last month, how youâd told him not everyone can just afford a camera.Â
Seems like Steve listened.Â
Maybe he isnât so bad after all.Â
âÂ
A week later you knock on the Byersâ door, a giant container of your annual holiday cookies in your arms.Â
âBug!â Jonathan answers the door with an excited smile on his face. His new camera is in his hands and before you can even process whatâs happening, heâs already taken a photo of you with your crooked earmuffs and oversized box of cookies.
Heâs been using the camera ever since he got it. Thereâs now multiple pictures of you, always unaware or caught off guard, now hanging in the kitchen. It makes you blush to think about.Â
âYou didnât even give me a chance to smile.â You complain, shoving your way inside. Itâs snowing and youâre freezing.Â
Joyce grabs the container to help you as soon as she sees you. âHere, honey. Iâve got it.â
You thank her and walk over to Will, who is drawing at the kitchen table. âHey little bee. Whatcha drawing?â
âHi, Y/N.â He slides over his picture and youâre shown a quick sketch of you and the party, this time fighting what appears to be a misshapen dog. âItâs a Dire Wolf, weâre fighting it in our latest campaign.â
âAh, I see. Looks fluffy, though. Canât possibly be a dangerous creature.â
Will rolls his eyes at you. âThis is why you donât play with us.â
âCareful, youâre sassing the girl who has just bravely ridden her bike through the snow to deliver her famous Christmas cookies.â
Will is out of his seat in an instant, running over to his mom, who has just placed the container on the counter. âDid you make the oatmeal raisin cookies?â
âDuh,â you snort.Â
âAnd the chocolate chip?â
âI sure did.â You stand next to him and point at a new cookie youâre trying out this year. âThis batch is a caramel banana one. Steve seemed to like it and I think itâs pretty good, so I hope you do too.â
Jonathan swoops over and kisses your head. âOf course weâll like it, bug.â
âHeâs right, you know. We always love whatever you make us, honey.â Joyce informs you, her mouth now full of cookies.Â
âIâd hope so, this is like my fifth year making these for you guys. Itâd be awkward if you hated my baking.â You say, now securing your earmuffs back on your head. âAnyways, I should get going. Itâs Christmas, my mom wonât want me out too long.âÂ
Joyce looks out the window and frowns. âDid you really bike here in this weather?â
âIt wasnât too bad, Iâll be fineââ
âNo. Jonathan, grab your keys and drive Y/N home.â She stares you down, daring you to argue with her, but you donât. You know better than to argue with Joyce Byers.Â
Once Jonathan has his keys, you say goodbye to everyone and wish them a merry Christmas. Jonathan throws your bike in his trunk and soon youâre off on the road. The drive is quiet but cozy. The snowflakes fall in a pretty spiral and thereâs a soft song playing on the radio.Â
Sometimes, if you close your eyes, you can pretend that the events from last month never happened. Will never disappeared. You never discovered that you love Jonathan. Nancy Wheeler never became friends with Jonathan, possibly something more had there been more time. When you close your eyes and sit still, you can imagine that your brother never has nightmares that wake him up screaming. That your heart doesnât hurt when you make your best friend laugh.Â
For a moment, you can forget.Â
âCan we always stay like this?â You ask Jonathan softly, almost as if youâll disturb the peace that winter has brought with its quiet snow.Â
âLike what?â
Youâre not sure how to express what youâre feeling. âThis, us. Together.â
âOf course weâll always stay like this.â He grabs your hand, bringing it to his lips to kiss it. He says this like itâs a fact, the most obvious thing in the world.Â
âPinky promise me.â You hold your pinky up. You know itâs silly, but you need him to hear you, to understand what youâre saying.
Jonathan looks over at you. âY/Nââ
âPlease, promise me, bee.â
Heâs silent for a moment, seeming to understand the weight of everything between, around, and within the two of you. Then, he extends his pinky finger and wraps it around yours. âI promise, bug.âÂ
And you believe him.

pt XVI good omens season 2 (still not traumatic) episode 3 EDINBURGH
HELLO IT'S ME IT'S THE OFFICIAL GOOD OMENS MASCOT WHY DO I STILL KEEP INTRODUCING MYSELF IDK. If you don't know who I am, thank God and Satan for their mercy and flee. Also, the day after I post this, I'll be watching the last three episodes on livestream for the first time so. You know. I'm hyped on the energy of this being my last day not enveloped in tears. Take the summary:
Before the episode starts, someone asks why Crowley said in the last episode that Aziraphale couldn't fall because look at him, all angelic when Crowley looked the same as starmaker. I reply that "Crowley thinks he deserved it, he sees Azi as something beautiful and untouched while he probably sees himself as idk marked in some way so god kicked him down."
I am told that I am learning too fast to weaponise the narrative to induce angst. So then I say oh, I go too fast for you. Tears ensue.
The episode begins! Everyone shrieks about Edinburgh, David Tennant, how it is their favourite episode, and SCOTTISH CROWLEY.
We open with lesbians being gay, and then Muriel enters as Inspector Constable! They are very sweet and very determined to do their job right, and they are adopted by Crowley and Aziraphale just like Jim.
Crowley sits on Aziraphale's chair's arm. The maggots all swoon.
Fine, I also swooned.
Aziraphale gaslight-gatekeep-girlboss-mansplain-manipulate-manwhores his way into getting Crowley to give him the Bentley keys (BOUNDARIES. BOUNDARIES.).
WHAT PLENTY OF USE DO BOTH OF YOU GET OUT OF THE BOOKSHOP?
The really ineffable plan is whatever the fuck was happening in Aziraphale's brain when he somehow went from London to Edinburgh via Loch Ness (check the map) and then proceeded to disguise himself as a detective who pretends to be a journalist.
Crowley slays in sleeve garters and a cardigan keeping house in the bookshop meanwhile, does not sell books, instead cleans with Jimbriel and periodically yeets book stacks into corners when distracted.
Aziraphale reads his old diary entries about Crowley, a (6000+) 13 year old with a crush.
MINISODE MINISODE. They are in Edinburgh during the mid 1800s. Victorian outfits, check. Scottish Crowley, check. Capitalist Karen Aziraphale, che-wait what.
Huh. Well. There's a wee bit of body snatchin' going on, to sell to doctors for medical research because there aren't enough murderers, and to make enough money to survive.
Aziraphale channels his inner capitalist judgemental Karen and ruins that plan, come on Aziraphale you have religious trauma but you're better than this, and long story short, Wee Morag dies after Aziraphale realises his error, her friend Elspeth has to sell her corpse for pennies, and is about to commit suicide with laudanum. Azi, oh god. I'm glad you underwent character development at least.
NOW CROWLEY HERE SLAYS. I KNOW THIS IS AZIRAPHALE'S PERSPECTIVE AND IS BIASED. BUT WITH THIS POV, CROWLEY SLAYS.
He calmly educates Aziraphale about how his whole "the poor have more opportunities and you shouldn't give them money or they'll lose the virtue of poverty" is absolute bullshit, and he does this understanding Aziraphale's situation and not losing his temper.
The framing. The framing of the shot when they see Wee Morag and Elspeth sitting down on a step and explaining their situation. Aziraphale stands above, bustling with righteousness, and judges them. Crowley sits down. He sits down next to them, rather than taking the high ground. He meets them where they are and empathises. It is the fact that he is fallen and damned that makes him behave really divine and sorry I wrote a whole hymn on him have it I'll stop rambling just know I love him.
I think his amusement is a facade so hell won't think he's genuinely being good. I think he's morally grey and incredibly brave and kind.
When Elspeth is bouta kill herself with the laudanum, Crowley grabs it and drinks it himself, and grows tiny and then huge, absolutely high off his head. David Tennant takes the opportunity to travel Scotland from east to west in terms of accent variety.
He gives us the good message of NO DYIN'. NO MORE DYIN'. IT'S NOT ON. And then forces Aziraphale (who doesn't want to ruin her virtuous poverty) to give the girl all the guineas he has in his pocket, and tells her to go off and start a farm or something. BUT NOT JUST PRETENDY GOOD, BE PROPERLY GOOD.
He then gets pulled into hell. To be punished for this. Aziraphale is frightened and heartbroken for him, looking around desperately, and we find out that Crowley didn't meet him for a while after. And later he wanted holy water. To protect himself? He got punished by hell. For how long? The whole month in between the incident and the diary entry? There can't be anyone better at punishment and cruelty than hell.
Sorry I'm just screaming here.
Never mind fuck I started this summary really happy and bouncy and listening to a dance playlist. Dionysus by BTS and Italian pop is still playing and now I'm crying.
Is this the natural progression. Fuck I'm crying. Sorry guys something else happens with Aziraphale politely talking to a phone and Crowley smiling really beautifully while unsuccessfully trying to manipulate two lesbians into a relationship and something about a visit I don't care everyone's being morally dubious as usual and then lovely Scottish music outro I CAN'T FUCKING ELABORATE I'M SITTING HERE CRYING OVER CROWLEY.
right summary done, time to go sob, lmao i thought i wouldn't cry today over good omens HAHAHAHA still not traumatic eh HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"Chega de Saudade" - Alastor X Reader fic
Pairing: Alastor x Fem!Reader.
Summary: When Alastor breaks into the V's building seven years later he expects to find a lot of things, lot of obnoxious, enraging, tacky things. He did not expect to find you. The Radio Demon does not take betrayl lightly and you have to live with the consequences of selling your soul to his worst enemy. Better yet, you have to live with the consequences of selling your soul to Vox and Alastor finding out. The soul you sold because Alastor left you for 7 years. Safe to say, it's a mess. A pretty, angsty, dark and delicious mess.
Warnings: Alastor is in Hell for a reason, general hellish violence, general hellish creepiness, eventual smut, i carioca coded valentino bc i can and bc he is very carioca sorry everyone, blackmail, Soul Selling, author is really invested in politics and decided to micromanage hazbin hotel canon, Corruption, Extortion, Implied/Referenced Rape/Non-con, but nothing too explicit, mature themes in general, canon divergence, Not Canon Compliant, Eventual Smut, Alastor gets insane in this one you've been warned, fear play, Possessive Behavior, posessive sex, big bad radio demon is gonna fuck up the guy who stole his girl and will make it everyone's problem, Reader-Insert,no y/n,no beta we die like men here, i feel bad for tagging vox in this fic cause i think it's a disservice i really hate him and i make it clear so vox stans be warned, it's hell i hope y'all remeber ethics are fluid, posessive!Alastor, unhinged!Alastor, Isane!Alastor
Taglist: honestly only my queen @jyoongim i have no credibility to tag anyone anymore after being away for so long. If you wanna be tagged on future updates just let me know!
A/N:HI HEY BUNNY ANON IF YOU ARE STILL HERE THIS ONE FOR YOU!! Hiii everyone guess who's back. I had this fic cooking for a while now, actually i had a lot of writing cooking but in a very Ao3 author fashion a lot happened. You see i was on this writing streak and then my 15yo dog died while i was out of state. I had to go back on anti depressants and take a sabbatical. I got a new puppy and she's the light of my life. Got super sick, won a horse show. My first plan for this fic was having the first 3 chapters done and ready for debuting together because i always feel i'm lacking when i show up with only one chapter lol. After a while i realised i needed to get this first chapter out too see the light of day if i wanted to write again so here it is. This fic is a bit different from my other Alastor fics and i have a rough outline of 5 chapters so i think this beast will be more than 20k words long for sure. I decided to get a little deeper into Hell's politics and all the "no one ever thought of using heavenly weapons against hell even tough Hell's ancient and the best worst of humanity and demonkind is here". I call that bullshit sorry i'm brazilian i'm well versed in shady politicians and shady politics and unfortunatly, dear reader, you are in for this ride too. This fic kicks off right after "Stayed Gone". Also did i mention i'm brazilian and that my works are heavily inspired by brazilian media. This entire fic was inspired by one of my favourite songs of all time "Chega de saudade". And let's be real, Alastor and bossa nova are the perfect match. So yeah, english is not my first language and this isn't beta'd so sorry for any confusion or mistakes. Thank you so so much for reading my fics and always leaving the most kind beautiful and heartwarming feedback. I hope i can still deliver a nice story to my darling readers.
Click here for my other fics.
CHAPTER ONE: chega de saudade a realidade ĂŠ que sem ela nĂŁo pode ser.
In the first year you were calm and collected. Thereâs a perfectly reasonable explanation to why he is gone. Is he even gone, gone? Heâs coming home soon, you can feel it.Â
In the second year you convinced yourself there were signs everyone explaining why he was gone and when he was coming back, you were just too oblivious to them before. But everything can be a sign when you are delusional.
In the third year you cried so much you felt you were constantly drowning. You barely left home and some thought you were gone too. Gone to him.
In the fourth year you finally gave in and took the deal. Lack of self-preservation and machiavellian schemes working together to create a trap for him. He would come home out of anger, ire. But you can't outfox the fox.
In the fifth year you decided to scour hell and beyond after him. You went to places just to taunt him. Paranoia became your best friend, blood sweat and tears as you repeat âThis time it will work, I'm sure of itâ. Can a lie be said so many times it becomes the truth?
In the sixth year you accept defeat. You buried him deep and went about like he never existed in the first place. Isnât it mystifying how this city screams his name?
Itâs the seventh year now. The alarm on your phone rings and rings and you feel like scratching your face off. Itâs time to meet your damned executioner.
Rolling out of bed you open the curtains to let some light in. The penthouse from the Vâs building has a great view of Pentagram City, looking down you get the feeling of dystopian sci-fi that is so characteristic of the technology district. Limelights, digital outdoors, and big opulent, oppressing screens greet you like a constellation of dead stars, long distorted from their original purpose and form.Â
You follow processional routine as you get ready. Choose a beautiful dress, put on make-up, and do your hair. It all feels like preparation for a sacrifice. One thing you learned from Alastor is that appearances are the best strategy and you intend to greet your handmade battlefield like a roman legion.Â
Alastor. Even thinking of his name hurts, especially today when you need to face the consequences of your actions, the consequences of his actions. He is gone, he left you. And now Vox owns your soul. You blame your fall from grace entirely on him, he forced your hand, he made you do it. Out of desperation, out of defiance, you sold your soul to Vox so he would come back and save you, so he would come back out of hatred, anger and ire to tell how foolish you were, how betrayed he felt.
Betrayal. Selling your soul to his sworn arch enemy should be treason worthy of him dropping anything he was doing to come and punish you, to address you. You just wanted to get a reaction out of him, proof that he still cared. That he didnât just get bored of the empire of terror he fought so hard to build in Hell. That he didnât, deep down, just disregard you like a shiny novelty, to be left when it got old.Â
You dry the persistent tears that insist on falling with clinical coldness. You are past feeling sad now, you donât even feel angry anymore. You are past any emotion really, you just want to get this over with and get back home.
You went about your deal with Vox in many different ways, sometimes you felt like it was a good alliance, a slap on Alastorâs face. A side quest to gather as much information from the Vâs inner circle, a social experiment. The truth is, during these past almost four years you were a mental gymnastics pro to justify your new arrangements. The cognitive dissonance required to live with the decision of being forever tied to Vox was an herculean task and boy he didnât make it any easier on you. He would never be as refined as Alastor when it came to torture but thereâs something about the coldness and calculated reality of the television business that was itâs own type of Danteâs inferno.
As soon as he got word of Alastorâs disappearance the TV overlord was on your scent, and he wasnât shy about it either. You dodged him and led him on for almost four full years before finally giving in, everything was more or less under control during the early years of Alastorâs disappearance.Â
Until you saw the angel army leaving.
Death and gore were all around you. The sky rained blood. You couldnât breathe. You tried to take a step forward only to realize you were knee-deep in demon blood. Adam was particularly ruthless this time, he seemed to have realized the unbalance in Hellâs power structure with one of the most prolific demon overlordâs absence and took full advantage of it. You choked on the sulfur filled air while the portal closed and Adam threw a last middle finger at the Pride Ring. A clawed hand offered you support as you were about to fall, your heart skipped a beat, for a split second you felt elation. In that split second a thousand thoughts, four years of misery and confusion passed through your mind like a movie. You were sure this was Alastor, showing up after the unprecedented carnage of todayâs reaping. With the next heartbeat came the delivery of the most cruel reminder: the hand reaching for you was Voxâs. Alastor doesnât care about anything anymore, not even losing territory.Â
The TV overlord was covered in thick, red blood and looked vindicated, a wide chesireâs cat grin on his face. Baptized in carnage, Vox had finally triumphed for the Vâs.The Vâs were now a force to be reckoned with in Hell, thereâs no argument to be made. A good chunk of Alastorâs territory was now under their control, and everything that came with it too. Including you.Â
âMy darling doe, be careful, we canât have you hurt after the battle is won can we?âÂ
Darling doe.
You threw up at the casual cruelty of the name Alastor called you with such affection being desecrated by Vox. He still supported you as you spilled your guts, youâd blame it on the nerves, the adrenaline, the reeking smell of death. Not on the fact that you knew he finally won, that the thing that broke you was to hear your name like that, on your lover archenemyâs lips. After that it happened. You sold your soul to vox. Of course he coerced you into it, and you were so mad with grief and betrayal that you felt like betraying Alastor back was the just thing to do. Pettiness and paradoxical hope dripping from your lips as the whole thing was done.Â
Every year this same flashback assaulted your mind as you got ready to meet Vox on the anniversary of your deal. It never went past the look you gave those pixelated eyes as he held you on that barren land, stopping right there when you made the decision that finalized your ruin. You still wouldnât, couldn't face what really went down when you formalized your deal with Vox. Those memories were suppressed and tucked in under layers and layers of regret and self-hatred.Â
You gave yourself a final look in the mirror. No makeup smudging this time, you were getting good at numbing your feelings. Just a few tears, no more sobbing.
The yearly meeting with the Vâs after the extermination was the perfect cover actually, everything was done in a way that it seemed like you were all cooperating. After all, you did hold a very good knowledge of the inner workings of Alastorâs deals, subordinates and territory. You knew who the Vâs could âcall in favoursâ and how to keep the peace. Or as close to peace as peace came when an abrupt power transition happened in Hell. You were a valuable asset to anyone really. Articulated in politics, masterful at the art of persuasion, kind, soft, charismatic, assertive, all in perfect balance, and frankly, breathtakingly beautiful. It wasnât without reason that Alastor fell for you and that you became his most trusted advisor. You and Rosie were able to conceal his absence and manage his affairs for good two years and the better part of the third without raising any suspicion. Of course, the bigger they are the harder they fall and now you were walking down the corridor of the Vâs building carrying a bulk of important intel that would dictate the fate of the Overlord power structure for the next year, at least.Â
The hallways of the building changed a lot since you first walked them. As the Vâs grew in power, the building grew in grandeur. It was now an imposing beast, looming over Pentagram City. Modern corporate architecture that incorporated the savage capitalism of Vox Tech. Savage, cold, sterile, overbearing thatâs how being inside the lair of Hellâs most up and coming trio felt. The tall ceilings and big glass windows were exactly what you would expect of a broadcasting network and silicon valley Big Tech company combined. As an esteemed guest, you got the privilege of staying in the coveted penthouses, with someone to attend to your every wish and demand. You also got an idea that Vox went a little extra with your treatment as a form of flirtation, he has been trying to convince you into moving in for a while, every time you stayed in, your usual penthouse had some shiny new thing that was made just for you, as he repeatedly emphasized.Â
This yearâs token of affection was a makeup mirror-gadget-thingy, that looked out of a Totally Spies episode. You had to admit to yourself that this was way more thoughtful and useful than the gifts from the previous years. The thing was cute, practical and would come in handy, which was a big improvement. Vox had tried to sway you with all types of guns and high tech devices in vain. Well, there was also that embarrassing stance with the wire flowers with a hidden recording device. Needless to say that after that entire debacle Vox learned that he may own your soul but you werenât a damsel in distress and you would reinforce your side of the bargain if he went too far.Â
You reached the elevator and went in, pushing the button for your destination.Â
The earlier you start this the earlier it is over, you remind yourself.
The panoramic elevator descended to the well guarded conference room, the guards didnât bat an eye to you entering. You realized you were becoming a familiar face around here, that made you dread whatâs ahead of you even more.
âThere she is! Hello princesa, I missed that pretty face!â Valentino greets you. Heâs the only one inside, sitting on the edge of the table. Well, thatâs unusual⌠you think. Vox was always the first to get to the post-extermination meetings, plus he always gave you a slightly early timetable so he could have some alone time with you. Something must be going on.
âHey Valentino, itâs nice to see you too! What gossip do you have for me today?â you give your best chirpy tone to the love moth. Look, you know how bad Valentino is, he is despicable really, even to your standards. But ethics are fluid, to say the least, in Hell. The acclaimed porn king was surprisingly engaging to talk to. He was fun and actually treated you like a person, which was paradoxical in itself, considering how infamous he is for exploiting and commodifying souls. You drove yourself mad with theories of possible agendas behind Valentinoâs kindness towards you, but it was the simplest of answers really, for some reason Valentino liked you and he never denied himself of what he liked.
âYou have no idea! We have a lot to catch up on, did I tell you about that bitch who was trying to spy on us?â a set arms gestures to you to sit down next to him. The next 10 minutes are spent talking frivolities with the moth. Youâre not complaining, it's nice to get your mind off this dreadful day and you donât get many.Â
Valentino, as always, has a lot to say, little goes on in Hell without him knowing who, what, where and why. Information, gossip, rumors, facts, if a single out of context word can be weaponized you better be aware that he knows. Pentagram city can be divided into districts and ruled by lots of different overlords, still, Valentinoâs intricate web of influence and coercion stretches across all territories. Another poor soul manifests here and goes somewhere they should not be, talk to someone they should not talk to, discover something they should never know. All cases of âwrong place at the wrong timeâ are happily solved by a large sum of money from the moth and suddenly another thread is weaved into his web of knowledge, another secret made his. Valentino doesnât operate like most Overlords and thatâs where his power lies. He bribed and fucked his way into every major circle, every overlordâs inner circle, Hellâs best kept secret. If you were anyone in the hellish afterlife Valentino either fucked you or fucked someone very close to you.Â
Knowledge is power, and Hellâs gossip girl was proof of it.
You swallowed a lump you didnât know existed, hearing the moth talk about how things changed in a matter of hours during the early post-war made you even more aware of the severity of the intel you were carrying. It was earth shattering (no pun intended) information.Â
Angels can be hurt. Angels can be killed. That meant a completely different way of existing in the afterlife, if this information goes public, the consequences are unpredictable and dire.
You donât feel excitement knowing you technically can fight back, you feel pure dread.
To be completely honest, you feel like these ânewsâ are not really news. You were pretty acquainted with politics back on Earth and this whole âomg no one knew about this! even though this was staring us right on your faces! is total bullshit. Hell is ancient, the exterminations are not a new thing, and there are some pretty smart people down here. To think that millenia after millenia masters of torture and skilled killers never thought of using heavenâs own firepower against them is wishful thinking at best. Sure, maybe after a few generations most sinners, even those who have power, may have been kept out of the loop about the chick in the holy armyâs armor⌠but not knowing this at all just feels like a pretty convenient case of collective amnesia.Â
Convenient, thatâs exactly what this is. Itâs brutal, but thatâs Hell. A scheduled massacre is a blessing to those who rule to maintain, reinforce and extend their power. And if you get lucky enough, empires will fall and you will make your move.Â
Vini Vidi Vici, thatâs all you need to know about how Hell's politics work.Â
Itâs true that with every massacre the Angel Army gets more and more brutal and unhinged. What was once justified as righteous mercy killings to stabilize the ever growing hellish population now is just a display of cruelty, these angels kill for sport. There have been rumors floating around of how the disproportional annihilation tactics are preparation for something bigger for a while now , and with the demonic royal families either operating totally off Pride Ring or being completely MIA, it is no wonder those influential enough are starting to get restless.Â
And that ties back to your first point, the thing that got you picking the skin around your nails while Valentino gossips. Thereâs a reason why this is being revealed now, you know how creating a narrative works, a few smart words and ideas become beasts of its own. A beast of its own that will tear anything on its way with the right fuel. The Vâs have fuel to spare. Whose interest is that this information stayed hidden? Whose interest is that this information was allowed to be shared now?Â
Hell is constructed by layers and layers of complicated militias and parallel governance, each one a locked room of secrecy that is impossible to enter without a huge amount of connections and power.Â
âIn a world of locked rooms, the man with the key is king. And, honey, you should see me in a crownâ Valentino wisely said to you once. Heâs a man of many many keys, and right now you are holding the fucking master key under your arm.Â
Speaking of Valentino, he notices that you dozed off and snaps his fingers, grounding you back to reality.Â
âMy, my. You must have extremely sensitive information today to keep you from hearing the nastiest, hottest gossip of the moment babeâ He takes a hit from his cigarette, an elegant and sensual move straight from an Old Hollywood film. The heart shaped smoke rings caress your face and for an instant you feel hypnotized, nodding your head profusely.Â
âBut I already knew thatâ behind the rose coloured shades, you see a playful wink from his infamous red hot eyes.Â
The porn overlord quickly snaps his head towards the huge automatic doors, that open and reveal Vox and Velvette walking side by side exchanging looks between them that scream conspiracy.
âSorry about the wait, my darlingâ Vox purrs on your way, stopping behind your chair and placing his hands on top of it, fingers dangerously close to your neck and shoulder. He pushes your hair to the side and lingers there, on your neck. âbut as they say ainât no rest for the wicked, am I right?â Velvette takes her seat beside Voxâs empty chair, meticulously placed in front of you, polite pleasantries leaving her mouth. Sheâs still a mystery, you never know her true stance on you, she keeps you on your toes. Does she like you? Does she hate you? Does she even care?Â
âIf you say so, boss!â you give him your best pageant smile. âSo, whoâs climbing up the ladder of the food chain today?â You bat your eyelashes at him. Your performance begins.
âAw baby, you know I love when you call me boss! keep talking dirty to meâ Vox lands a wet kiss on your cheek and makes his way to his chair.
Right in front of you, so heâs always staring at you, drinking in your every move. You cannot fail, you cannot falter.Â
As much as youâve gotten used to pretending, pretending you like the Vâs, pretending you donât feel disgusting inside for being here, pretending you donât hate Alastor for putting you in this situation with a burning passion but still missing him so much you feel someday your heart will stop beating in protest to him absence, itâs still hard. Especially when Vox touches you. Your eyes focus on cybersharks swimming behind Voxâs seat and concentrate on keeping your awarding winning poker face.Â
âThis year looks really promising I will tell you that! The orders for both your weapons and tragedy porn cameras doubled since the last extermination! I will give credit where credit is due, that fuckboy Adam knows how to put on a show!â he snaps his fingers graphs, stats and footage appears on the various screens. But itâs all irrelevant, it wonât matter when you spill your secret.Â
âLotâs of veeeery interesting happenings but I thought this year we might⌠start differently. Letâs forget the profit talk for now, change things a little. Did you guys see anything out of the ordinary? Did something stand out?!â he spins around his Big Boss ⢠chair and stops with his hand under his chin, leaning in to you like a schoolgirl with the hottest new gossip.Â
âOh! I heard things -â Val also leans in getting closer to the TV overlord face.Â
Voxâs grin shrinks, lifting a finger in protestÂ
âWe know, we know, you always hear things Valâ he replies in a monotone tone
Velvette, who spent this entire time typing away on her phone, interjectsÂ
âLook, donât take this the wrong way girlypopâ finally looking at you she asks, or rather, states the million dollar question â but what Vox means is that we know you have something big cooking inside those files, so letâs drop the bullshit and go straight to itâÂ
The doll puts her phone down, she knows how important this is, how this secret will probably dictate how things will go from now on. You can call Velvette many things, but she is clever and under all that attitude and posh accent lies a brilliant strategist.Â
âPlus, we all know you are contractually obligated to tell anyway, so spill, and can make this quick and painless to everyone involvedâÂ
Right, your cartesian, empirical proof that angels can be killed. Caught on the scene of the crime with the gun in your hands.Â
You donât waste anymore time, the words leave your lips like youâre choking with the threat they present. You tell them everything: where the exorcist was killed, how he was killed, the golden ichor blood that oozed from the wound, where the body was hidden. Everyone is silent while you speak, even the mechanical sharks seem to have stopped swimming to listen.Â
After that you donât remember much more of the meeting, it felt like you took the backseat of your own mind, the overwhelming feeling of dread making you so out of breath. Something is coming, something fucking coming and you canât breathe. Anxiety sets under your skin like a second skeleton begging to crawl its way out and you find yourself sitting in one of the lavish anterooms of the Vâs building.Â
âSo, the catâs out of the bag thenâ you recall hearing Vox saying when, as if on cue, a few moments before the meeting was being declared over, the emergency broadcast about the reduction of the extermination date from a year to six months was issued. You four watch the transmission and you wonder if thatâs what it feels like to get the news of the end of the Cold War, the doomsday clock finally hits midnight and we are nuking each other out.Â
Mutual destruction assured.Â
Your mind wanders back to your life on earth, if life up there is better or worse these days. You died so young, everybody told you, your Untimely Demise a big topic of conversation that you yourself didnât know much about. But nothing, nothing in all of your living years and your years from Hell to eternity could prepare you for what comes next.
âSo the Radio Demon is back in town! Why is he hanging around? What does it mean for your family?âÂ
The news hit your ears like a tsunami and you feel dizzy. Itâs easy to find a big screen here and you are running to the closest one before your brain can even compute the words.Â
Alastor is back, Alastor is back, and he didnât come find you.
The next sound wave is even worse, dragging you ashore to your feelings without any reprieve.Â
âSalutations!
Good to be back on the air! Yes, I know it's been a while, since someone with style treated hell to a broadcast
Sinners, rejoice!â
This isnât a prank, there are no cameras and a sadistic tv host waiting for your humiliating reaction, instead all pairs of eyes in Hell are glued to the screen watching as the two Overlords fight it out.Â
Thus, no one notices how your entire body shakes and your vision goes black. Itâs too much, and you grip the rails from the stairs that lead to the foyer for dear life. Your heart is beating out of your chest. No one notices how you cry, how you whimper Alastorâs name like a prayer, how the tears run down your face and you feel paralyzed. You want to run, a million thoughts per heartbeat making your head swim. The best you can do is collapse on the floor. So you do, you collapse trying to catch your breath as you plan your sweet escape, how you are going to Houdini yourself out of this situation right to his arms.
âTune on in
when I'm done, your status quo will know its race is runâ
You want to kiss him, you want to slap him, you want to tell him how much you missed him, you much your fucking hate him. You want him to drag you to his rooms and make you pay for cursing him out. You want him, you want your Alastor back. You cannot breathe.
âOh, this will be fun.â
and then all the lights go out.
Thereâs a beginning of an uproar happening, the electric building dies a quick and unforgiving death, demons run around and Vox is flying down the stairs trying to do damage control. But even he is failing to keep his composure, because he knows. Oh how you know too.Â
Alastor is like a natural disaster, a shattering force that bends everything on its way with the sheer force of will. The inevitable reckoning that comes to your town, that judges and executes everyone that you love.Â
And now he is here.Â
You see the burning red hot pair of eyes first, their predatory gaze hold the entire room hostage, looking for his prey and then they land on you.Â
The piercing intensity of Alastorâs eyes, the flickering reds of damnation itself, regard you with surprise, elation and something more. So overbearing those eyes are, they make you shiver, bearing the weight of his gaze that penetrates deep into your soul. Your soul that is not yours anymore, it belongs to the man he hates, the man he despises.Â
The Radio Demonâs towering frame closes the distance between you two in five long strides, you do your best to keep yourself upright and not cower at the sight of him. He looks like Rapture and righteous torture, coming to deliver your setance. Vox knows his sentence is being delivered here and now too, so he runs, runs to you. You feel static and an electrifying pull, metal clinking. A chain. A glowing blue chain on your neck and Voxâs pulling it tight.
âWhat? what the fuck is going on? whatâs this?â snapping your neck quickly towards Vox you whimper, you beg. The few seconds you stopped looking into Alastorâs eyes causing seething rage inside the deer demon, ire that makes the room tremble.Â
ââTalk over the radio, that way everyone can hear, babyâ Vox says straight at Alastor, like it is a shooting gun. The look on the TV Overlord is maniac, a sideway cocky smile that drips pettiness. Just because Vox clearly lost this battle, with all tvs and electricity on petagram city going dark, it doesnât mean he canât still forever tarnish this victory.Â
Alastorâs demonform covers the already dark building in opaque, thick shadows, radio static picks up around the room like a tornado chocking the majority of the unfortunate demons that are still inside, in a desperate attempt to seek shelter.Â
No words leave the radio hostâs lips as he grows even taller, breaking the posh entrance of the building, debris flying down causing even more damage, the tall glass windows shatter in a million pieces courtesy of his tentacles tearing down everything on their way. The sounds of destruction and despair are loud but you havenât been listening to the world outside you and your returned loverâs radio dial eyeâs for a while. A doe caught in the headlight of his eyes the best you can do in brace for the inevitable impact that is coming your way.
In a flash of his scarlet eyes a fire ignites, the flames born from it are unnatural, behaving like a hive mind to kill and destroy.
You always knew that facing Alastor after these 7 years would not be easy, but you never imagine your reunion like this, in the midst of pomppeian fire, a wild raw power, the oncoming storm that is Alastor when he attacks.Â
Vox knows this fight is over, his ego hurt and todayâs accounts always written as a victorious comeback from the Radio Demon, nevertheless, between the three of you Vox will always know who really won, who drew the last card, had the last laugh. He did, holding Alastorâs girl on a leash because he owns her. The soul of the woman the Radio Demon dared to love is his, the man Alastor despises with a burning passion, and thatâs enough for now.Â
The raging flames circle the three of you and without much more flair Vox drops his act, your chain disappearing from your neck. You drop to the floor, branching yourself on all fours. You consider crawling your way to Alastor, so you can explain, so you can cry, so you can beg. You donât know for what exactly you will be begging for: your life? his forgiveness? his punishment? you just know a lot of begging and pleading will be involved.Â
But the decision is made for you.
âRun, run my little darling doeâ Vox commands âRun and do whatever you need to doâÂ
You get up on your feet in a completely ungracious move and Alastorâs out of the room instantly. The flames never touch you on the way out, the outside world greets you: a cacophony of screams, sirens, burning sounds, the infernal orchestra that becomes the soundtrack of your life. Â
âOh, and by the wayâ Vox screams from the threshold of the decaying building âwe just got news that your place on Cannibal Town got trashed by some wayward sinners during extermination. But donât worry you can always come home here, come home to me!â
You do your best to ignore his taunting, and you pray to whoever is listening that Alastor didnât hear it. But itâs futile, the pavement where he is stepping cracks a dark cloud of static and shadows trail after him. He definitely heard and felt the implications of these words.Â
âAl.. Al!â you scream running after your lover.Â
Fuck, youâre still in heels, and those arenât your running heels.
Kicking the damned shoes off you run faster, you cry harder and plead faster.
When you lived, your life always felt a bit surreal, weird stuff happened to you that you couldnât really explain. People always joked that screenwriters of your life were the most creative people alive, the thing that happened to you never happened to anyone else. You died young, with a big, full life ahead of you, but you took this as gospel to your afterlife, after all everything related to your death was a mystery to you. But the things that happened to you living or dead were a raw reality impossible to make up.
The uncertainty of your death only fuels your resolve to fight for the life you found in the afterworld.Â
âAl, wait!â you are starting to get truly desperate, you need to get to him otherwise you are pretty certain you will drop dead here and now.
âAlastor please, please listen to meâ your voice failing, you finally choking from the smoke, from the suppressed tears. If Alastor doesnât hear you now you are not sure you can carry on after him, youâre too tired too scared. You him to save you like the damsel in distress you are right now so bad.
Alastor dramatically comes to a halt.Â
âI. am. Not. Having. This. Conversation. Here.â his voice is staggered, still. Filled with static and a murderous edge to it. His long arms catch your wrist and pull you close, flush against his chest, you almost stumble but a powerful arm around your waist locks you tight to him.Â
Itâs the first touch in seven years, your legs shake at the realization that heâs real, heâs here. You lock your arms around his neck, the familiar fabric of his overcoat, the soft strands of his hair, they all feel like coming home. Â
Something inside Alastor snaps when he remembers, when he feels how small you are in comparison to him, only one arm securing you safely to him. Some paradoxical fight starts inside him, wild wild want, wild wild rage against tameness, the docile calm you bring whenever you are at his side.Â
The world disappears for a few seconds as darkness engulfs both of you, inside the black moving vacuum only the two of you exist, greeting each other in bloody homecoming.Â
Alastor takes you back to the Hotel, landing with a low thump inside his room. For a second his hand supports the small of your back, preventing you from falling forward. After all itâs been 7 years since you shadowtravelled with him, he knows you are terribly out of practice.Â
His consideration towards you only lasts this precious second thought, because he makes his way across the room, creating as much distance as he can between the two of you. Your touch disarms him, he is aware of that since the first time your hand brushed against his, the first time his lips ghosted on top of your knuckles. If Alastor is touching you he is extremely likely to get soft, to remember how much you mean to him, what you do to him, so he will be merciful. And right now the last thing the deer demon wants is to be disarmed, to show you mercy. He can feel your betrayal burning inside his veins, clouding his judgment with ire and jealousy.
Alastor doesnât fight those feelings, on the contrary, he lets them take him by storm adding fuel to his already bad temper. Thatâs the only way he can face you now, thatâs the only way he can make you understand.Â
You donât get any time to gather your bearings, from the corner of your eye you notice a forest. His room is bigger on the inside and has a fucking conservation area but thatâs hardly the most pressing matter at the moment. The pressing matter at the moment is that you are getting whiplash from touching your demon lover for the first time in seven years and his subsequent refusal to touch you, stationing himself across the room to you.
Why isnât he with you? by your side as you ride the shockwaves of today together? You are scared, but above all you feel overwhelming sadness.Â
âHow did it happen?â he finally snaps, breaking the deafening silence. Itâs the first time Alastor regards you, directly, in 7 years and the weight his words bare is so heavy you wish for more of the silence. âTell me, how did it happen?â his eyes are wild, dangerously close to radio dials.Â
âHow did it happen? You tell me Alastor! You left me, you fucking left me!â you wish you could be your usually articulated self, you rehearsed this conversation so many times in your mind and in none of them you started with such venom on your lips. But it has been too long, and maybe the poison from all those years alone and afraid beside Vox drips through.Â
The Radio Demon sees the tears that fall profusely from your big doe eyes, and they sting more than an acclaimed torturer like him could have anticipated. Alastor finds himself still disarmed, because with every single glistening tear that falls he can see how hurt, how scared you are. He is the only one allowed to make you scared, he owns your fear.
But thatâs the problem isnât it? He owns nothing. Vox does. And that realization turns him back to feeling seething rage.Â
âSo my mere absence is enough to change your devotion? Is me being here the only thing that stopped you from falling into his arms?â more poison. By the end of the night you both will choke on it.Â
âAl.. Alâ you are sobbing now, your throat tightens and itâs hard to breath itâs hard to speak. â I had to do it. You donât get it, you donât get it.â your voice breaks âhemademedoit, hemademedoit!!â. You swallow half the words, whimpering, as if you say it fast enough the action will quickly become the past, as if the memories wonât haunt you. And yet the memories flood your mind
A dim-lit room, the smell of blood and something burning.
âHe is gone baby, and he isnât coming backâ
Electricity makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.Â
A strangerâs hand pushes the hair to the side of your face, dread creeps up inside of you.
âThis is the only way my dear, the best decision you can makeâÂ
The same strangerâs hand grab you by the waistÂ
âIâm the only one who can protect you now, you know that right?â
eyes that make you freeze, itâs hard to think. eyes that make it hard to say no.
âIf this is hard for you, you can pretend that Iâm himâÂ
a wrong type of static pricks your lipsÂ
âThis wonât hurtâÂ
a shockwave hits your body and it feels like you are being split open
You have to steady yourself on the closest piece of furniture. You cower as the repressed memories from the night you finally gave in to Vox assault your mind, trying to make yourself as small as possible, like he is coming back to do it all again. Cries and incoherent words leave your lips and you donât know if you actually said what happened or if this entire time you have just been crying. You entire body hurts as you hyperventilate âAl, Iâm so sorryâ you whisperÂ
Thatâs what undoes Alastor, you curling yourself in a ball, defeated and scared at the ghost of the man he hates. You looking away from him like you are undeserving of him, of his punishment, of his love. Like you are tainted. Alastor canât make the exact words of your confession about how it happened, but he heard enough. Vox would never make you come to him willingly, Alastor knows that. Whatever Vox did - and Alastor has a lot of ideas of what he did - he will pay double for it.Â
Alastorâs blackened heart shatters when he calls your name and you donât look up to meet his eyes, like you always do. He was always your lantern for when you were drowning. He meant to break you, hurt you like that. He just wanted to make you come to him, beg for his forgiveness, beg him to soothe the pain.Â
âMon coeur, my sweet darling doe you are safeâ Alastor voice goes so soft it hurts âDonât fret, itâs in the past, itâs over, you are safe with me now as you are meant to beâ he coos.
Still, you canât read your loverâs mind. So you donât know his heart is shattered, you donât know how much he loathes himself for letting this get this far. You are so caught up on your own feelings, reeling the rage and the memories that you miss the softness of his voice and his outstretched hard and you inevitably choke on the poison.Â
âNo. No!â you snap âYou donât get to say that. You have no right to say that!â you scream as you get up âIâm not safe, I will never be safe because you werenât there to protect me, you promised Alastor, you fucking promisedâ the poison is now inside you, heartstopping waves of hurt consume your body and sprit. Right now the same burning passion that makes you heart beat for Alastor makes you hate him too. You were never good with ugly feelings, you always pride yourself for being soft to be strong. Your kindness and act of rebellion during the hellish reality you lived. You were never good with bad feelings, so you do something you never thought youâd do.
You shove the Radio Demon, that man you love so much it drives you to insanity. You shove him because the shame is too much, all the ugly feelings ball up inside, convincing you that you donât deserve him, that you already lost him. And you wonât survive his dismissal.Â
You never talked back to him, you never raised your voice. Not because you were afraid to, but because you never had to, hence the reason why Alastor is so taken aback that your pitiful attempt of violence actually moves him from where he was standing.Â
Alastor shoves you back, pushing you up against the wall with a searing kiss. He kisses you like you are his last chance at salvation, like he wants to be redeemed. He licks your lips as you struggle to catch your breath, pushing his hips hard against your core, making you straddle him. Alastor doesnât grant you a moment of reprieve, his lips come crashing down on yours again, his tongue inside your mouth dancing to a madmanâs tune. He does what he does best, he takes and takes and takes. He takes your breath away, he takes all the callous words that threaten to leave your lips, aimed at him.Â
You succumb to your demon lover, your nails dig into his skin and he moans inside your mouth, he bites your lips enough to draw blood. In the end Alastor is still Alastor, and of course he gets all hot and bothered when fighting. You feel delirious with the taste of his lips, your blood and your salty tears mixing together, an unholy ambrosia. His hardness press just the right way to make you sing creating a current of desire after a seven year long drought.Â
His hands are quick, ridding up your shirt making he grab your ass and then your hips, strong enough to bruise. His clawed finger is already tweaking your nipple that way he knows you love. Your bravado melts, in perfect synchrony to when he sinks his teeth deep into your neck, drinking everything: that wretched poison that tarnished your words, the sacred warmth of your blood. You moan his name like a prayer that he promptly answers, heâs kissing you like a drowning man again, your blood on his lips painting your lips red like you both just drank from the holy grail, his hand cups your other breast and you vow to never speak to him like that again, only if itâs gonna get you up against the wall like that with him.Â
And then he stops.Â
âI hope this kiss haunts youâ he says, voice still drunk with desire, low and threatening. He swiftly moves you off him, walking away and creating the same distance from when this all started âhaunts your every breath, finds its way inside your every waking moment until you are mad with regretâÂ
You are bewildered, eyes widening in disbelief. What is he doing? How can he go from 0 to a 100 so fast?Â
âI hope this kiss haunts you, so you never forget that you were the only woman who ever had me at the palm of her hand and you decided to throw it all away with that calamitous cynicism of yours.âÂ
So thatâs whatâs happening. You can never expect to beat a master at his own game, Alastor is still cruel when he is merciful. When push comes to shove he will always win. Thereâs only so far you can get with taunting his repentance, playing with his heart laid bare at your feet, filled with sorrow and begging for forgiveness. He was ready to apologize, to dry your tears and soothe your fears, worshiping your delicious body and the ground you walked on. He was ready to admit that this was half his fault until your venom stung him beyond the realm of spoken word.Â
âI understand it now, it must be hard for you to cope with your own decisions, your own failings, so you take it all on me. I hope you remember this when you come back to beg, on your knees for my forgiveness. And trust me, you will.â Of course Alastor would torture you with the knowlodge of his guilt and despair, the loss of his benevolence, the promise of desire and carnality. He will always be a torturer at heart, and you forgot thatâs the first rule you need to always remember when dealing with him.Â
âYouâve got your demons darlingâ never was your precious pet name said with such disdain. Static starts to gather around you, and in a flash his hand is on your neck
âand they all, Look. Like. Meâ his voice is distorted when he finishes cursing you, thereâs a tempest behind his eyes that entraps you, the burning red of his irises condemn you.Â
The Radio demon is a raging fire, an oncoming storm. But he is also meticulous, cruel and calculating, if you dared to question him, to step on the grace he gladly gave you, you clearly were aware of everything he did to lull his absence. All the plans and contingencies he made to hush your worrying thoughts about him and bathe your threshing heart on tranquiline waters.
And you decided to mock it. To mock him and his love for you.Â
You are crying again, but this time Alastor is fucking glad he was the one to hurt you, to reduce you to a mess of regret and tears.Â
Tonight in Hell, power shifts from one Overlord to another. Sinners plan and freak out accordingly.
But their machinations are all meaningless.Â
The 7 years you spent away from Alastor made you sad, the three years spent on Voxâs side made you bitter. The Vâs operate on poison, itâs their fuel. And maybe the poison drips through.
Tonight you drank the poison and it broke you.
Tonight, for the first time, the poison broke Alastor too.

Dwarf fortress update: world #2
This is going much better since now I know what I'm doing with administrating tasks. My population is at 75 and dwarves mostly happy (or at least neutral) now that i have the food and alcohol running more or less automatically
My strategy for keeping the dwarves happy is basically to just browse through their thoughts and figure out what they would like to have/do.
A lot of them get unhappy when "remembering trauma." Too bad "therapist" isn't one of the workshops.
I have literally thousands of raw mussels. I haven't seen a body of water nearby except for "murky pool". Where are they coming from??
If you make stepladders, the dwarves use them to pick fruit off the trees! I have a tropical biome this time so there is a huge abundance of fruit.
I have a yak herd going and I just kill most of the bulls periodically for fresh meat.
My dwarf children keep getting kidnapped????
The stockpile system is fucking CURSED.
The amount of feeding stockpiles into other stockpiles I have to do in order to get a smelter running let alone forge weapons? Horrible
I was using bins to make items stack, and my weapons stockpile had a bin in it.
After about 3 in-game years had passed, for some reason mining and tree chopping orders just...stopped working. Like the tiles would just stay highlighted for eternity.
This persisted for like. 2 more years in game. I figured out quickly that part of the problem was that all of the axes and pickaxes were gone. I had no idea why. I tried all manner of convoluted looney tunes bullshit to try to make new ones without any wood for charcoal and without the ability to mine anything else. I demolished the wagon for wood, but my dumb ass forgot about the work orders I had set and the wood was immediately converted into doors. So next I demolished all the carpenter shops. It was not enough wood.
Eventually I ended up just buying a bunch of wood from the trading caravan and after a protracted battle with my interrelated network of stockpiles, smelted iron bars. Then set the metalsmith to make axes and picks.
The work orders ran just fine. The mining and chopping still wasn't working. I went to my stocks and tracked the location of the new weapons and was led to a wooden bin in the weapons stockpile.
How. do you REMOVE. WEAPONS. FROM THE BIN
For around half an hour I experimented with stockpiles, attempting to force the bin to disgorge its contents. I made and destroyed many different stockpiles with different settings. When the weapons bin was forced into a stockpile that didn't accept bins, it didn't release its contents, instead it became invisible and somehow stacked underneath a different item in the stockpile.
Finally, I figured out the workaround: I made a garbage dump, went into the contents of the bin and marked each individual weapon within as garbage. I'm pretty sure I marked the bin itself as "forbidden?" Anyway after the whole thing was in the garbage, I un-garbaged the weapons one by one, made another weapons stockpile that didn't accept bins, and after fucking with it for a while I liberated the weapons from the Bin of No Return (which stayed forbidden and in the garbage)
At some point in the process all the weapons ended up forbidden and somehow stacked together in one tile. I had to manually unforbidden all of them and destroy and remake stockpiles and garbage dumps several times.
Mining and chopping orders STILL AREN'T WORKING
I try manually equipping pickaxes and axes to dwarves under the "squads" tab. No dice.
Finally. FINALLY. I go into the dwarves' jobs and set it so the miners can ONLY mine EXCLUSIVELY and set some dwarves to be locked into wood cutting as well. This, on top of everything else, fixes the problem.
Don't use bins. Got it.
A cyclops randomly attacked my fortress. I hadn't trained my military or anything so I was worried it would do a lot of damage, but my dwarves killed it pretty much instantly
I saw under the "engrave memorial slab" tab that there was an option to engrave a memorial slab to the cyclops. Which I did, just in case.
I found an underground cavern. Since I found the underground cavern I have been getting "petitions" every 5 minutes with adventurers volunteering to come kill monsters. I have like 12 of them in my fortress now.
Also a bunch of mushrooms are growing up into the areas of my fortress with dirt floors, and several of them can be farmed as underground crops??? I have a room in my fortress that grows "cave wheat" now
i'm guessing the next step is to train my military but idk where to start with that
