The random chill questions for the modern jjk au are so much fun! I read that you do it just to ease back into writing, but it actually adds so much depth to the characters. It’s so cool thank you for that.
My question for them is where they’ll go for vacation? And like how they spend their vacation time? Arguing nonstop? Sex all day long? Going from one attraction to another?
yuhhh, because the smaus don't cover every conversation they have but rather stand as snapshots which represent the kind of convos they have and I only write three or four in between fics, there's bound to be a limitation on how much depth the audience gains on the characters so the questions can be important
gojo and reader:
they go sightseeing at night. they like to venture around Europe because reader likes the gothic architecture still standing. and whilst she doesn't hate the sun or anything stereotypical, she does hate being stared at. and that's fine by gojo, cause they do spend the whole day sleeping in, ordering room service, sex, more sleeping and then it's party all night
geto and reader:
they do road trips. either quick ones at night on the motorbike or long hauls in a luxury trailer. they go camping. they both like the privacy and connecting with nature and fresh air and shit. they'll go into the local village or town, attend farmer's markets, paint by a lake, sex under the moonlight.
choso and reader:
they go everywhere. they love adventuring and hiking. it's a mix of city life, going to art galleries and museums, and also going up mountains, trekking into rainforests and safaris etc. they both like learning about new cultures and seeing all the different artistic styles and architectures, getting inspired. they rough it up, backpacking cause that's how reader rolls
toji and reader:
they're both living humbly on a coach's and writer's salary so they travel once or twice a year. they go to major cities during the winter, mostly on invitation from their friends like sukuna and gojo. and during summer, they go to places like the Canary Islands and just laze around on the beach. they don't do much exploring cause toji only cares about getting some vitamin d, swimming and sex. and reader is way too tired and too sweaty to care about anything else.
nanami and reader:
they travel 3-4 times a year. reader's family is wealthy so she's used to skiing and staying in 5 star hotels and resorts. that very much continues well into adulthood since they go on family trips often. but with just the two of them, nanami likes to go to old cities like London and Paris for the architecture, the museums, the bookstores etc. nanami drags reader around and she dislikes it but she does like seeing him happy and excited. it's not about sex in those moments, it's about connecting. but when it's her turn to choose, she takes him to the Maldives and the Bahamas where they just have lots and lots of sex.
sukuna and reader:
private islands only. they don't like people. you know that honeymoon montage in twilight, it's that minus the supernatural powers. it's just a lot of exploring and hiking, of swimming in rivers and at sea, playing chess with the sunset as their backdrop. a lot of outdoor sex. crazy. and despite not possessing vampiric strength, somehow their bed always ends up like in twilight.

Day 3 - Set Up For Failure / Venom
Tags/CW: slaiden, snakes, medical, fainting, homophobia (as in, characters have to do a lil bit of lying, no one's being actively phobic), age gap (immortal and mortal),
Tumblr media
Going on safari for their honeymoon seemed like the perfect idea when they were gathered around a table with their groomsmen and women. The weather in New York had been getting gradually colder and colder, and a safari would be nice and warm and it was on both their bucket lists — Might as well cross that off while they were still young.
It wouldn't be without its risks and challenges, though. None of the countries that had decent safari parks and events were particularly supportive of same-sex relationships, let alone a marriage. But they didn't want to let that hold them back. So their rings were returned to their ring bearers, they booked a lodge with separate beds, and they came up with a simple cover story that they could easily stick to when asked any questions.
They weren't expecting any trouble. After all, it was supposed to be two weeks of glamping with the opportunity to photograph some wildlife. All the while pretending to be college mates rather than husbands, which wasn't too difficult, considering one of them was studying the exact subject that the other had been specialised in for decades.
Dr. Douglas Slade McLaughlann had been alive for about 200 years or so, and active as a doctor during most of those years. His husband, Aiden Carter, was born this century and still in med school. He was never quite sure how he managed to fall in love with a 200 year old man, but he was very glad that he fell in love with an experienced medical practitioner, since he seemed to be a walking magnet for trouble.
Not even their honeymoon was safe.
The first couple of days had been fine. They had the staff fooled about their relationship, though the other couples kept giving them cheeky looks, and they enjoyed a short walking safari before taking a day to recover. They still had to get used to Kenya's temperature, and Aiden managed to get stung by a scorpion during the walk.
Luckily the sting hadn't had any ill effects, and they could relax and enjoy a tour in the back of a car, which took them past a herd of zebra, and a troupe of lions stalking them. Not quite the great migration, nor quite National Geographic, but still awe-inspiring.
"They're going to love all these pictures back home," Aiden said, looking through his camera roll while Slade was hogging the bathroom, getting ready for bed. "It's weird that I can't just pick up my phone and text."
"We specifically chose this camp for the lack of wifi, Love" Slade reminded him, "but then again, I suppose you grew up always having access to the internet."
"Not really," Aiden said, "back at my parents' ranch, only dad's desktop had access to the internet. We didn't have wifi, and I didn't have a phone or laptop."
"Oh good, so you know the world won't end if you disconnect for a couple of days," Slade said.
Aiden rolled his eyes, putting the camera to charge for tomorrow. He sat down on the edge of his bed, stretching a bit before turning his pillow over. Something shot out. He wouldn't have even seen it if it hadn't moved. But now it was already too late. He felt a sharp pain on his wrist, right underneath the back of his hand, and he pulled away so fast he nearly pulled the animal with him. It flopped on top of his blankets, and began slithering away.
"Crap— Slade?!"
Hearing the tremble in his voice, Slade stood outside the bathroom in a second, his face half-covered in shaving cream. He looked at Aiden, clutching his arm, and the snake that was now slithering off the bed.
"Och, Love," he said, "arite, sit down. Stay calm. Keep an eye on that snake while I get help."
Aiden sighed, reluctantly sitting down in the chair on the opposite side of the room, pulling his feet up just to be sure. The spot where he was bitten was beginning to burn, as if someone was dripping pure acid onto the wound, eating slowly away at his skin.
"...I'm afraid I don't know what kind of snake it is."
Aiden released a breath he didn't know he'd been holding as Slade returned with one of the camp guides. The snake in question was trying to escape into the bathroom, while the camp guide went after it with a shovel. Aiden tried not to think about that image too much. He focused on Slade instead, who seemed to have acquired a first aid kit while he'd gone off to get help.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, "hot? Cold? Weight on your chest?"
"Hgn...hurts like a bitch," Aiden replied through gritted teeth.
"Arite, just breathe. I've got you," Slade said, kneeling down next to him and gently prying his good hand off of his wounded hand.
The two little puncture marks were clearly visible on his wrist, the skin around in very red and somewhat swollen.
"Do you have antivenom or something?" Aiden asked, trembling slightly.
"There'll be antivenom on the ambulance," Slade said, "in the meantime, I'll have to clean this."
"Oh Lord," Aiden said, "it burns, Slade, it really hurts."
"I know," Slade said, "but I have to treat it."
Aiden groaned, but Slade was right. He always was. So all he could do was to try and tough it out while Slade cleaned the wound. Even when he didn't touch it it hurt, and when he did touch it, it hurt even more. After cleaning the wound, Slade pulled out a sharpie and drew a circle around the redness, checking the time on his wristwatch before scribbling that on his skin as well.
"Arite, now let's cover that up so it stays clean," Slade said.
"...do you have to?" Aiden asked.
"I'm afraid so," Slade said, "just keep breathing."
He gently pressed a piece of gauze over the wound, before beginning to wind a bandage around, and finally pinning it in place with two small clips.
"There," he said, "just rest it on the table, that should minimise the pain."
"Don't they have advil here?" Aiden asked.
"The general advice is to not take any pain relieving medication until you've been treated at hospital," Slade said, "just try to stay calm. I'll come with you and after you get the antivenom we can probably get back to the camp."
"You don't think it's deadly, then?" Aiden asked.
"It's nothing fast-acting from the looks of it," Slade said.
Aiden seemed relieved, finally following Slade's advice and actually trying to stay calm. The response time of the ambulance wasn't exactly what they were used to, but it still wasn't too long of a wait before they showed up, looked at the snake that lay decapitated in the bathroom, and after some debate they finally gave Aiden a jab of antivenom, before explaining that he had to come along to hospital to treat the bite wound properly.
Slade arranged to follow with one of the camp guides, so that they'd have a ride back and somewhat of a translator. Frankly, the whole ordeal was over before they knew it, yet it felt like it had been a really long night by the time they made it back to camp.
Aiden's hand was bandaged up more thoroughly, their bathroom had been scrubbed clean, and Slade was tasked to check their beds before Aiden felt like he was able to get comfortable.
"Does it still hurt?" Slade asked, while turning over every inch of the bed to check for snakes.
"It's more like a really persistent itch," Aiden said, "I dunno what they gave me for the pain, but I'm about ready to pass out."
"Well, thank goodness," Slade said, "we were very fortunate that you didn't get bitten by a snake with anything neurotoxic."
"Yeah but chance for necrosis isn't fun either," Aiden said.
"We'll just keep an eye on it," Slade said, "at least necrosis is something I can treat."
"Lord..." Aiden grumbled as he carefully got into bed.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Slade was up early as usual, while Aiden more than deserved to sleep in for a change. He was never much of a morning person, while Slade had no qualms to rise with the sun, or even before, and he found it a waste to sleep the morning away. Not this morning, though. This morning he just kissed his husband on the cheek before leaving the room to get an early breakfast.
When he was nearly done eating, sitting back with a cup of coffee and contemplating whether he should eat that second croissant or leave it for Aiden, his husband in question already came stumbling towards his table.
"Ah, morning, L— Aiden," Slade said, nearly slipping up.
"Hey." Aiden just said, sitting down with a groan and resting his injured hand in his lap.
Slade looked him over for a second, before pouring him a glass of water and sliding it over. Aiden wordlessly grabbed it, taking a couple or large sips.
"How'd you sleep?" Slade asked.
"I slept." Aiden said, with a shrug.
"And how do you feel?"
"Like I want to chew my hand off," Aiden said, "it's sore, and it hurts, and it itches."
"Do you want me to take a look at the wound?" Slade asked.
"Inside," Aiden said, "I also got this rash, and I feel like I'm having some kind of horrible hangover, but not from drinking— You don't think they gave me the wrong antidote, right?"
"Antivenom," Slade corrected, "and let's look at the wound before drawing any such conclusions."
However, as they got up to head back to the room so they could redress the wound and talk about the symptoms without putting anyone off their breakfast, Aiden suddenly collapsed, taking half their table with him before Slade was able to catch him.
"Good god— Help!"

Get to know your fanfic writer
Thanks @jamilas-pen for the tag!
When did you post your first ever fanfic?
It would have been some time in early 2005 on Fanfiction.net
I’d essentially been writing fanfiction in notebooks in the 90s but before then our computer was in a shared computer room and we had 30 minutes of dial up allowance per sibling per day so I never browsed the internet enough to understand what fanfiction was and that people would want to read things. I was just having fun!
Then Livejournal (and later AO3) happened and the rest, as they say, was history.
First Character(s) you wrote for?
Ash and Misty in Pokémon (largely unpublished and just for fun until 2007) and then my first published fanfic was for Paine and Nooj from Final Fantasy X-2
Main character(s) you’re currently writing for:
I do still love a bit of Pokémon fanfiction. But mainly nowadays I’m writing David/Patrick (Schitt’s Creek), Nick/Charlie (Heartstopper) and, occasionally, Tim/Lucy (The Rookie). I’m also working through a very long (for me) story based on a series of books I read as a child (Animal Ark) so we can add Mandy Hope and James Hunter to the list even if I take massive hiatuses on it.
I have severe ADHD though so I tend to be very flighty with fandoms. The ones that have stuck around are ones that I have essentially trauma bonded myself to (I can date my periods of stress to when a particular piece of media came out because I’m still obsessed with it decades later!)
Character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan on writing about soon:
I’m not sure there are any… I tend to just throw myself in!
EDIT: I never did write the Basil/Polly Fawlty Towers fic I outlined in 2010 while camping at work when I was snowed in. I have also considered writing a Daphne/Niles Frasier fic but have never got round to it. Because I am 50 at heart.
Fandom(s) you’re currently writing for:
Schitt’s Creek
Heartstopper
Pokémon
Animal Ark
Platonic pairing(s) you currently write for:
I don’t tend to write a lot of platonic stuff. I did enjoy recently writing Patrick Brewer & Ronnie. I have also been known to write tiny snippet stories set in the Discworld and they always involve something platonic.
Romantic pairing(s) you currently write for:
Nick/Charlie
David/Patrick
Ash/Misty
James Hunter/Mandy Hope
Your top 3 tags on AO3 (if you post your works on AO3):
Friends to lovers
Canon compliant
Drabble
Your current platform where you post your works:
AO3
Post something from a wip:
I’m stuck on a scene that needs to go between the most recently published one and this one so have a random scene from the Animal Ark fanfiction that I am writing purely for my own enjoyment:
The photo he had landed on was one she hadn't seen in years; she remembered when she flicked through the facebook album when they got home that it hadn't even registered as something she should dwell on, the trip had been full of too much safari excitement. But now… she dwelled. The two of them were sat, questionably close, on a bed in a wood panelled hotel room; his chin propped up on her shoulder as they read a book together- the title had been lost to memory- and his arm braced behind her. She remembered a kid from their travel party, young and excitable like she had once been, taking the photo before either of them realised she was there and it ending up nestled in a photo album that was otherwise posed and purposeful. A little secret anomaly. After, when the flash had made them jump and they broke apart, she remembered the feeling of guilt, of being caught in the act of something that she couldn't quite identify. He hadn't ever come away with them again, life had got busier, and she never told him about the hot, quivering feeling that had overtaken her in the seconds before they were interrupted. How, if he had come just a little closer, she would have closed the gap and kissed him. It would have been a first for both of them, and it would have been clumsy and awkward, but she would have done it without a moment’s hesitation if she hadn't been startled by that camera. She had forgotten about it, truthfully, for a long time, but now the memory of that unfamiliar heat rising up in came flooding back when he stepped closer to her.
And, just in case, another from a little Heartstopper scene I started in lieu of getting up and doing anything productive at 8am this morning:
Charlie’s voice, more like music in his ear than the sounds he had just created, played somewhere nearby. Close, but not close enough until he stepped forward and peered down at Nick. From this angle, the glow of the neon sign cast shadows across the angles of his face; highlighted the fullness of his lips in a way that made Nick feel hot. He looked away, tried to inject something that would sound like humour in to his voice.
“I’m trying!”
“Here, budge up, let me help.”
I always feel awkward about tagging anyone so, I tag anyone who wants to answer!

Otherside Picnic Volume 8 Thoughts - Part 5
File 25: Learn Your Lesson
2
We’ve barely started the conversation with Kozakura and she already as harsh as we’ve come to expect.
Spends the first minute of the conversation badmouthing their relationship then claims she herself is the “sensitive” one.
Sorry, Kozakura, but I agree with Sorawo. The only ordinary person in this series is Natsumi.
I don’t know why she is so opposed to others going to Otherside out of their own interest, especially when she helped give them incentives to do so.
Honestly, I’m not sure what Sorawo is expecting at this point. You don’t want any cookie-cutter responses like “date her or reject her”, but then you go asking outsiders who barely know them, and a shut-in who stares at monitors all day.
I’m giggling. Kozakura really suggested they go have a picnic on the Otherside, then immediately told Sorawo, don’t actually do that. Forget the title, they’ve already been camping and are building their own base.
So Kozakura’s reaction to Tsuji’s name is basically, that bitch ain’t dead, yet?
How many times is Sorawo going to question whether someone is in a cult?
“Jack the Pisser?” Are we sure Kasumi isn’t doing this on purpose?
I admit, they had me there for a minute with that castration story. But people of influence dying in a safari? No, those types of people don’t do anything themselves, they have people for that.
Hopefully, Kozakura is only the victim of Kasumi’s word salad and nothing else, but who knows? We don’t even necessarily know what Kasumi is.
Oof, she finally said it. If only Sorawo had the same interest in Toriko as the Otherside. I mean, how long did it take for Sorawo to visit Toriko had her university or ask about her personal life?
3
Wait, so the problem is Sorawo is still hung up on the whole “accomplices” and “most intimate relationship in the world” thing. Idiot, you’re overthinking it. It’s like Benimori was saying, there is no one way to define or package a relationship. And let’s be real, you may have been “accomplices” from the start, but the actual intimacy was something that came over time, which is why the question of “what actually are we” is coming up, now. There is no one way to be “accomplices” and/or “lovers”.
Oh look, the consequences of her own actions are catching up to her again. She’s been pussyfooting around this issue for so long and the Otherside is naturally going to take advantage of her cowardice, again.
We’re back at Mayoiga, again, of all places. I suppose Sorawo did run out of acquaintances to talk to on the surface world, so honestly is left besides the old lady and her dog?
Todate and Hana aren’t even there. Not surprising, it should even be expected.
Looks like Kozakura had it wrong. Sorawo might still try to explore the Otherside without Toriko, but it wouldn’t feel the same. She’d likely be crushed by the loneliness and give up eventually, probably disappearing like Satsuki did.
That dream Sorawo had before was unsettling enough, but now she is experiencing it for herself… This is probably also an answer to what happened to Todate and Hana.
And of course, there’s Mujina Toriko, again. What a mean cliffhanger.

Going Off the Grid
Hey everyone! Sunday marked one month since I arrived! Where has the time gone?
This past weekend, I took another trip to Cabo Polonio! Cabo is an off-grid community in Coastal Uruguay that is not connected to the nation’s supplies of electricity, gas, and running water. Despite this, many tourists come and visit to disconnect and embrace the peaceful atmosphere. Those that live in Cabo have a reverence for protecting the planet and living like their ancestors did. I thought it would be a great opportunity to turn off my phone for the weekend and enjoy quality time with friends!
Everyone from the house and I took a 4-hour bus ride to Cabo. You cannot drive to the little town of Cabo because there are no roads, so we rode on a mega 4X4 to get to our Airbnb! This was my favorite part because it felt like we were on a safari riding through the dunes. Our house in Cabo was rustic to say the least. It only had a charging station (no lights), and no running water. After using the bathroom, I had to pour water out of a bucket into the toilet for it to flush. Although 12 of us went, there were only 3 beds, so many people slept on the floor, in hammocks, and in chairs. Such is the life of traveling on a budget!
Cabo Polonio is known to be a great weekend trip to take with your friends because there isn’t much to do in terms of tourist attractions. We spent a lot of time at the beach (steps away from the house), looking at the Island of Leones Marinos (sea lions) from afar, and climbing the lighthouse to see the view. At night, we saw the abundance of stars (clearly visible because there’s no air pollution) and even the Milky Way! It poured the whole day on Saturday, so we played cards amidst the candlelight. You can imagine how long it took to explain a card game to exchange students who all have different native languages.
If I were to do it again, I would’ve done more research about places to visit nearby and how much cash to bring. Cabo has a national forest where you can camp, so I would’ve done that for a night. Almost no restaurants took card (again due to the lack of electricity), so I was rationing out my pesos and buying eggs and rice from the local tienda. That being said, I tried some amazing dishes such as milanesa de pescado (breaded and fried fish), pizza caprese, and el desayuno frances which included fresh mango and shredded coconut. Que rico!
Although I probably wouldn’t stay in Cabo Polonio again, I enjoyed discovering a more hippie and slower-paced side of Uruguay. That’s the beauty of traveling- even if you don’t fall in love with the place that you’re visiting, now you know and you discover more about yourself along the way.
Until next time, blog! Ciao!
