You know how in the Beard After Hours episode Beard sends The Pub Lads to Richmond’s secret stadium entrance? So they can frolic on the pitch?
It only just occurred to me that this is a direct contrast to Jamie refusing to get James, Denbo, and Bug onto Wembley’s pitch.
PB&J never asked Beard to do that. He just realized that it is something they would treasure. And it is also something they, as genuinely decent people, deserved such a gift.
And I have to imagine that the idea for it came to Beard because of the James et als bullshit.

whenever i think about beard blowing up at ted in 1x09 i just have to go. how long was that building up.
#because we never see it again? like he can be a little snippy with ted (see the man city match in 2x08) but#never like THAT. like he's never so explicitly stood up for what he felt in regards to what they're doing ever again#or like. anything. like.#it's also interesting to watch that scene with context of beard blaming himself for their losses + him being hired#by ted as a form of rescue .

Megathread: All Clues concerning “Elrond = Sauron” in “Adar meeting/Kiss scene” (2x07) - Part II
Part I
III) The Aftermath
"What do your Maiar eyes see?"
In the night after the tent scene, we have a scene of Sauron looking over the Orc camp, with anxiety and worry on his face.
No one is watching Sauron doing this (he has his back turned on Celebrimbor). Why is he looking so worried? We know for sure he isn’t concerned about the battle because everything is happening according to his plan... except for one thing (Galadriel wasn't suppose to be Adar's prisoner). Or... is he trying to see if the “seeds he planted” at the Orc camp are finally breaking free?
He's also strangely emotional in this whole scene:
"Arondir Ex machina":
At the beginning of the “Sauron’s worried sick” scene, we see him with his eyes closed, as if he’s performing some sort of sorcery. But we aren’t shown what he was doing. Celebrimbor is working on the Nine, so he wasn’t doing anything to him.
When Galadriel finally breaks free, it’s Arondir who shows up to “save the day”.
And Galadriel says the strangest thing: “Whatever force it was that brought you here, soldier, I am grateful for it. Come, I know a hidden way into the city. We must find Sauron." Hmm...
Adar's Death
Adar's death scene in 2x08 appears to parallel a scene we already saw on "Rings of Power". And I'm not talking about the opening scene of 2x01, which is the obvious answer.
In 2x06, when Halbrand/Sauron wants to kill Adar, for the first time, in the middle of the woods, but is stopped from doing so by Galadriel. During this scene, Adar tries to make sense of why this "mortal man" wants to kill him:
"A woman? A child?" Adar asks Halbrand/Sauron.
At this moment, in particular, this interaction was meant to be a clue towards Halbrand’s true identity (“he is Sauron”), because of Adar being the one responsible for destroying his previous physical form in betrayal. Halbrand wants to kill Adar with a spear (Sauron’s weapon of choice).
However, in 2x07, Adar really does causes pain to the woman (she-elf) that Sauron loves. At the Battle of Eregion, Adar displays Galadriel trapped in a cage, and has one of his Orcs pierce and bled her neck with... a spear.
And how does Sauron have Adar killed, at the end? In the middle of woods, like he meant to in 1x06. Using his children to cause him pain, and kill him. And Sauron does it in front of Galadriel, the woman he loves and was, previously, hurt by Adar.
There are more references to 1x06 in 2x08, because when Sauron appears as Halbrand, he repeats to Galadriel his words to her in those same woods he wished to kill Adar.
Hence: this parallel can mean that Sauron, in fact, witnessed Adar flaunting and hurting Galadriel on the battlefield.
"What did you expect, mate?"
Galadriel: All this... was your design from the beginning. Sauron: Please. You think too much of me. The road goes ever winding. Not even I can see all its paths.
As I’ve already theorized on my “last temptation” post, Sauron went up there to collect everything that belongs to him: Morgoth’s crown and sword, the Nine, Nenya and Galadriel herself. However, he somehow believes that Galadriel will just accept him.
Sauron’s reaction to Galadriel trying to kill him, in 2x08, is actually hilarious, because he looks outraged: "why are you trying to kill me?
Is Sauron this self-deceiving and lacks so much self-awareness that he was really expecting Galadriel to forgave all of his recent atrocities with Celebrimbor (mostly) and bind herself to him, freely? This doesn’t make any sense, unless he already asked for Galadriel’s forgiveness in advance and proved himself in someway.
And Sauron might think that Galadriel recognized him in that tent. But she didn’t. And what does she says to Elrond when he asks for her forgiveness?
And, so, Sauron arrives all victorious and ready to reclaim his “reward”. Only to find Galadriel is not going to join him, let alone bind herself to him, freely. And then, he goes for plan B.
Glûg's Death
Glûg's death has "well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions" vibes for having betrayed Adar and sided with Sauron, instead.
Tolkien never specifically wrote about the Orcs lifespans: we know they aren’t immortal like the moriondor (Adar and the other Elves corrupted by Morgoth) and they reproduce like every other “humanoid” being. Meaning, Glûg has never met Sauron before, and has only heard the tales. He was already suspicious that Adar was sacrificing the Orcs for nothing, with other Orcs believing he was chasing a ghost. Well, when Glûg meets Sauron for the first time, he’s shocked to discover that he’s not terrible or cruel like he was told, but rather “nice” and soft-spoken (even asking his name). And, so, Glûg has the confirmation that Adar was, in fact, wrong and killing off his children for nothing... (well, he came to regret that at the end).
However, Glûg is the one who places a blade at Galadriel’s neck during the “Adar and Elrond tent scene” in 2x07, and we see Elrond’s reaction to it. And so, if Adar was to give the order, it would have been Glûg who would kill Galadriel in that scene.
In 2x08, Sauron kills Glûg after Galadriel throws herself off a cliff.
Many assume this was done in a rage fit, but this isn’t Sauron’s character. And he already lost control with Celebrimbor in this episode and that’s why, according to Charlie Vickers, he cries in that scene: Sauron recalls his time at Morgoth’s side and doesn’t want to end up destructive and nihilist like his master was.
So I would argue the “rage fit” explanation is not it. Could it be, that Sauron - who is always gaslighting others and in self-denial trying to find justifications for his own actions and project them onto others (as Celebrimbor told him in 2x07) - kills Glûg because this Orc was the last being he saw threatening Galadriel’s life? And projects his own guilt onto him? And how could he know that, unless he was the “Elrond” in the room? Because Sauron is powerful, but he isn’t able to see everything just yet.
IV) Plot holes:
Plot holes from 2x06 and 2x07 that only make sense if it's Sauron and not Elrond in that tent with Adar.
What did the corpse that showed up at Eregion in 2x06 truly said for Sauron to react in such way (when no one was looking at him)?
Clearly it didn't say "Where is he?" because Halbrand/Sauron was the one who told Adar that "Sauron" was in Eregion, in 2x01, to plant the seeds for the Battle of Eregion.
This could also explain where Sauron got the pin. We know Galadriel loses her cloak and pin in 2x04, when she faces the Orcs and gets captured by Adar. If Sauron was keeping an eye on her (pun non intended), he could have retrieved her pin there. And this would also explain Sauron's reaction to the corpse in 2x06: it was a message from Adar revealing that he had Galadriel in captivity.
Why didn't Adar take Nenya (nor even checked) from Elrond in that scene?
It was the ring he wanted to destroy Sauron. Why sacrifice more Orcs and waste time? And what guarantee did Adar have he would see Elrond again, alive or even with the ring on his possession? Was it only because Adar had a "flair for the dramatics"?
And why does Adar looks into Elrond's eyes before lifting him up (to make sure it's actually him?)?
Why, after obsessing over her for the whole season, we, the audience, didn’t get to see Sauron’s reaction to Galadriel being locked in a cage?
Sauron was at the walls of Eregion with Celebrimbor and the guards when the Elven army arrives, and the scene shows him looking in their direction. Are you telling me the "mastermind" behind this battle wasn't interested in knowing what would happen next!?
Note:
If the only the argument against this theory is that Robert Aramayo and the showrunners already gave interviews explaining the kiss, I would like to recall that Charlie Vickers spent the whole of Season 1 promotion saying that “Halbrand is just a man”, or them saying that “Haladriel wasn’t romantic” for two whole years. And, apparently, Galadriel has been in love with Halbrand, all along (and this was only revealed after Season 2 finale).
I would advise my fellow fans not to placed too much trust in interviews concerning this theory, or any other, really. “Rings of Power” follows the “Game of Thrones” formula: it’s a show full of mystery boxes and plot twists, sometimes from one season to the next.
The only question here is: will Season 3 reveal it or it will be an abandoned plot, or left ambiguous.

The X-Files x Interview With the Vampire (AMC)
It's 1996. It's a Monster of the Week episode. Agents Mulder and Scully have been working together for a couple of years at this point; one morning, Mulder barges into his basement office, as per usual, and slams a case file on his desk, right under Scully's nose.
Multiple victims in New Orleans, found murdered in various parts of the city with no blood left in their bodies and puncture wounds on their necks. Mulder already thinks it's a vampire. Scully complains and presents scientific proof to the non-existence of vampires. Mulder wins. They board a plane to Louisiana.
A younger version of the Crime Dawg from 2x08 brings the agents on a spooky tour of NOLA and tells them what happened at 1132 Royal Street:
"Home of the most infamous party ever thrown in New Orleans. This is where two dozen members of high society, they walked in them doors right there. Ain't nobody ever seen them again."
Mulder is intrigued. Scully scoffs and rolls her eyes.
The Crime Dawg goes on with his pitch: Tom Anderson, the Sebastian Melmoth/Lesander Lioncurt King of Raj thing, the Creole hustler and his little child bride, the voodoo cult they were running in the back rooms above the courtyard garden, the who's who of who dat who were brought inside the house on Mardi Gras, 1940 and that couldn't nobody find head or hairpiece of the next day.
"What did they find?" the Crime Dawg asks the agents. "Blood in between the floorboards of three different rooms, bits of indeterminate pieces of bone inside the factory-sized incinerator. Why did Tom Anderson, Mr. Melmoth, the hustler and the child bride lure these particular citizens to this house of lies and intrigue?"
"To murder them, apparently," Scully says, and then goes on a tirade about early 1900s crime scene investigation methods. Mulder follows with a compilation of his encyclopedic knowledge of vampires, which will come in handy in two years when the events of Bad Blood roll around. The Crime Dawg is already hearing wedding bells.
Later, while Scully examines the victims' bodies at the city morgue, Mulder returns to 1132 Royal Street, formerly 1132 Rue Royale. It's a museum now. Inside, there's a picture of the so-called Frenchman, the local Creole hustler and his little child bride. Mulder has a hunch, as one does, but alas, Scully doesn't find any forensic evidence and the case threatens to go cold.
Thankfully, the episode is written by Chris Carter and Frank Spotniz (and, why not, David Duchovny), so the magic of television eventually brings us to the dilapidated doorstep of one Lestat de Lioncurt, who looks exactly like the so-called Frenchman in the picture Mulder saw in the museum at 1132 Royal Street.
Something something, there's a kind of homoerotic tension between Mulder and Lestat that rivals the one between Mulder and Krycek, something something, Lestat reveals himself as a vampire when he bites Mulder and/or Scully, something something, Scully still doesn't believe in vampires. Between one thing and the other, Mulder puts his Oxford psychology degree to good use and psychoanalizes Lestat, who finds himself in the same place as mon cher Louis was 23 years earlier with a bright young reporter with a point of view (and will be again in another 30 years' time, with a bright old reporter with a point of view) and tells Mulder his entire life story.
At the end, it's one of those episodes: the monster is not actually a monster, or however that old X-Files adage goes. A classic Mulder monologue ties it all off nicely:
"Maybe, a vampire is but a man who rejects sociality, who embraces his feelings of alienation and loneliness and sets himself apart from humanity, but still needs to fill that pit with the essence of life and has to go find that in his former mortal fellows, therefore voiding the very premise of his existence.
"This has the vampire wondering what this not-life, not-death ultimately means, if it will ever amount to something.
"Am I something of God that is here because all things that are here are of God's intention? the vampire asks himself. Or am I damned? Am I from the devil? Is my very nature that of the devil?
"Or, perhaps, is my need of blood a mere biological imperative? Am I an obligate carnivore, guilty of nothing but my own survival instinct, just as the lion in his pursuit of the zebra is subjected only to the laws of nature and not those of humanity?"
I've spent the better part of the summer watching The X-Files (I'm currently at the start of season 9) and moved on to ITWV season 2 as soon as fall rolled around. Suffice to say that both these shows have become my current hyperfixations, and I just couldn't stand not making something out of it.
If someone wants to write this under a more serious light, please do; just let me know if and when you do decide to do it and where I might go read it. Because I need to read this.

Because I'm in the pain fandom lol I rewatched Ted Lasso 2x08 but only the locker room post Man City loss scene and now I've got Jamie Tartt feels again so I'm gonna just feels dump for a moment.
When Jamie hit his dad and James Sr. stood up angry getting ready to punch him back, Jamie looked so fucking terrified! That look on his face just said "oh shit oh no he's coming he's angry I made him angry I fucked up I fucked up".
But Beard comes in and drags him away in time and now everyone including Jamie is too stunned to move in the aftermath a d the silence lingers and no one moves!
AND THEN THE HUG! THE HUG!
I have a lot of feels a out this hug but right now I'm focusing on one aspect of it. It's the sounds of Jamie legitimately crying into Roy's neck that is currently breaking me. You can hear him sniffling and gasping but it's the kind you make when you're trying to not full on sob but you can help but make some sounds and cry. Your breath hitches in your chest and your nose starts to run and the sobs start falling out of you but your trying so hard to not completely breakdown.
And this is happening in Roy's arms surrounded by the whole of AFC Richmond with whom he's still working on bonding with and they all just saw him being abused verbally emotionally and physically by his dad and it's clear that this isn't the first time and now they all know.
I desperately want to know what happened after this. Especially with Beard full on leaving and Ted needing to go back after having left to call Dr. Sharon. I want to know how long Jamie cried into Roy's neck. What was it like when he finished? How did the team react? What did Ted do when he returned to the locker room? Was everyone already on the bus when he got back? WHAT WAS THE BUS RIDE HOME LIKE?! What happened to Jamie in the aftermath!?
And another thought but this season they're going to go back and play Manchester again and this is in the trailer (Jamie looking stressed as he walks onto the pitch and all of the Man City fans are clearly booing him in the backgroudn) and I HAVE FEELINGS!
What Jamie must be feeling having to go back after what happened last time. And the treatment he's recieving from the fans is horrible but is Sr. there!? Jamie worrying about his dad showing up? Protective team maybe? Like I wanna see the team people protective of him and being like "he won't get near you" and I want to see Jamie go absolute beast mode on Man City and Richmond win. I want this to end on a high note for him (with some angst beforehand please)
And that ends my current Jamie Tartt feelings dumb. I'm sure I'll have more.

all of my tv writing teachers harped on the rule of three. if something happens once, twice, then it needs to happen three times because three is a pattern. (because, “a trio of entities such as events or characters is more humorous, satisfying, or effective than other numbers.”) because three is a triangle.
so, next week’s episode against man city has to be emotionally devastating for jamie. i’m almost certain we’ll see his father again. because it’s the rule of three. it’s the locker room scene in 1x10, and 2x08. it’s the combination of man city, and jamie’s father and it’s about measuring his growth and i cannot wait.

Snip Sunday
From a wip that's set in the immediate aftermath of 2x08 Man City and tentatively titled 'Five Time the Team Shows Jamie Kindness and One Time he Realises Why'
“Shit, Jamie, your hand…” Jamie bites his lip. Yeah, he knows all about his hand. The one that’s purple and swollen. The one he can’t bend the fingers on. The one he’d been doing a good job of ignore the pain of until now, Roy’s voice directing his attention back onto the throb keeping time with his heartbeat. He knows there’s a distinct possibility, probability even, that something is broken. Which isn’t that just fucking great. Because he can argue until he’s blue in the face that you don’t play football with your hands but he knows it’s still going to get him fucking benched

i’ve said it before and others have definitely said it better but i will never forgive the writers for how they handled jamie’s relationship with his dad. it makes me so sad for jamie when everyone sees exactly how his dad treats him and then later tells him to forgive his father.
especially the way ted handles it and i know that ted has his own trauma relating to his dad but it’s not fair to push that onto jamie. jamie so clearly looks up to ted and ted just leaves him high and dry every time he reaches out for help. ted is the likely the first person on one of jamie’s teams who has any idea that jamie’s dad is abusive because ted sees them in the treatment room (and does nothing), and then jamie goes on LCA and gets kicked off man city and we see one of jamie’s first moments of vulnerability as he begs ted to let him back on richmond even after he thinks that ted sent him BACK to manchester and ted tells jamie there’s nothing he can do for him. then ted watches the whole interaction between jamie and james sr in 2x08 knowing how this is going to go and STILL doesn’t intervene. it’s roy that goes to comfort jamie even though they aren’t even friends at this point. even as roy is still adamant that he doesn’t like jamie, he is the only person in that room who does anything to help jamie.
at least with higgings he didn't know any of the specifics of jamie’s relationship with his dad but ted had seen it multiple times. the problem is the writers showed us multiple times how evil he is and then expected us to forgive him??? and belive that jamie should or would forgive him???
#feeling so angry at these writers after watching man city#they handle most things with such love and care but this is the one thing that they just fully miss the mark on#such a strange and bad choice#this isn’t concise because i am mad#poor jamie#i do love the development of jamie and roy’s relationship after this point#ted lasso#jamie tartt#this is a james tartt sr hate page#ramblings of a rewatch

i really wish in 2x08 man city we’d gotten a second scene of higgins and jamie where higgins said he regretted all his fathers and sons talk
#it only being a preface to jamie’s abuse kills me#you KNOW higgins was hating himself after he heard about james tartt’s visit#ted lasso#liveblogging#jamie tartt#leslie higgins
