forever mourning how granada holmes never adapted the three garridebs. diabolical. unbelievable, even. 'if you had killed watson you would not have made it out of this room alive' but in brett's frightfully intense and low, biting, hissing voice. the violent, wild stare versus the gentle hand on watson's knee. all of that precarious control getting flung out the window. the humanity of it. gritting my teeth can you fucking imagine.

i dont really like it when people dumb down Curly's characterization to just the guy enabling Jimmy. I get that that makes it easier to not like him, so that's why a lot of people do that, because they feel guilty about sympathizing with someone who's done smth fucked up like that, but i really don't think it's giving Curly the justice he deserves.

regardless of if you like him as a person or not, Curly is still a victim and he suffered greatly at Jimmy's hand. Just because he did something fucked up doesn't make him a 'monster' (sorry because i saw someone say that he looks like a monster post-crash and thats sticking with me because why TF are we saying disabled burn victims look like LITERAL MONSTERS- yall use some common sense I BEG)

Dumbing down characters is what fandom does best, but i think it particularly irks me in Mouthwashing because of the nature of the story. Jimmy already thinks of the rest of the crew poorly and doesn't see them for how they really are, we don't need to be doing that too.

I also feel like people don't really recognize the fact Jimmy manipulates and abuses Curly too, even before the crash. What Curly did was fucked up but for the love, don't dumb him down to just this one thing he did.

The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker is that he was always in a box someone else put him in. Watto said you are a slave. Qui-gon said you are the chosen one. You are a Jedi, you are a general, you are a good person. And when he knew without any doubt that he was no longer what people told him he was, he had to find new boxes. You are a sith. He spent his whole life being defined by people around him. And then along came Luke. And Luke didn't say 'you are a good person, come back to the light where you belong.' Because Anakin by all rights didn't belong in the light. No, Luke said 'you are my father. There's good in you." Luke said 'you have done great evil, but you can still change.' Luke said 'I do not excuse your villainy but I believe you can make your own choices.'

And that--that--is what got through. Not 'here is another box you must fit into' but finally, after his whole life, someone told Anakin 'you decide who you are.' And Anakin decided he was a man who loved his son.

I miss when Pikachu was just a little asshole with a side of dumbassery. They woobified him so much in more recent anime episodes. In the 90s that little prick was just electroshocking dynamite cords and then acting surprised when it blew up. And then chewing on computer wires because no one was giving him attention

i’ve said it before and others have definitely said it better but i will never forgive the writers for how they handled jamie’s relationship with his dad. it makes me so sad for jamie when everyone sees exactly how his dad treats him and then later tells him to forgive his father.

especially the way ted handles it and i know that ted has his own trauma relating to his dad but it’s not fair to push that onto jamie. jamie so clearly looks up to ted and ted just leaves him high and dry every time he reaches out for help. ted is the likely the first person on one of jamie’s teams who has any idea that jamie’s dad is abusive because ted sees them in the treatment room (and does nothing), and then jamie goes on LCA and gets kicked off man city and we see one of jamie’s first moments of vulnerability as he begs ted to let him back on richmond even after he thinks that ted sent him BACK to manchester and ted tells jamie there’s nothing he can do for him. then ted watches the whole interaction between jamie and james sr in 2x08 knowing how this is going to go and STILL doesn’t intervene. it’s roy that goes to comfort jamie even though they aren’t even friends at this point. even as roy is still adamant that he doesn’t like jamie, he is the only person in that room who does anything to help jamie.

at least with higgings he didn't know any of the specifics of jamie’s relationship with his dad but ted had seen it multiple times. the problem is the writers showed us multiple times how evil he is and then expected us to forgive him??? and belive that jamie should or would forgive him???

don't you just love it when a series has a good ending that takes care of all of its characters, shows how their futures will look like, ties up all loose ends, reminisces about old times, references important moments from before, and brings back elements of the very first episode, giving a nice frame to the whole series?

i will never not love star trek b plots. yeah we accidentally warped back in time and now we have an american pilot aboard who is stuck between two worlds and wants to go home to his life and family but cannot in fear of disrupting the timeline of the universe. yeah we have to break into the military to steal back the tapes containing our ship being spotted so we don't irreversibly change history. yeah we have to consider the cost of a single human in the face of catastrophy. yeah we have to bend all laws of physics and logic to slingshot ourselves back to the present and it might not even work. yeah we might be stuck in time forever. yeah...also kirk's computer got hacked and it won't stop flirting with him.
