Saw something about Hua Cheng always being able to sense his ashes so he can always sense Xie Lian and I just think it adds a hilarious take to him giving Xie Lian his ashes. Like yes it’s a beautiful and romantic ghostly tradition but there is something so funny about him given them to him the moment he has to leave so he doesn’t lose him again after 800 years of searching like someone tagging a bird to track their migration habits. He is not taking no fucking chances.

i am fucking Thinking about how death is handled in destiny 2 once again.

in regards to guardians it’s almost treated as like a joke or something deeply unserious? possibly even alien in a way due to how we kill and destroy and wreck havoc against our alien foes, but we ourselves never die. it’s really interesting to me cause there really isn’t a lot that can permanently kill a guardian so it makes sense we’d have this perception. like off the top of my head you have weapons of sorrow, hive rituals where the light is drained from a guardian, and paracausal beings which ofc includes other guardians. but that isn’t a lot, most deaths are not permanent and so this perception of death among guardians seems like death really isnt that big of a deal.

we jump off the tower and then get resurrected and have a little laugh about it. guardians constantly kill each other for fun in crucible. we are always doing incredibly stupid shit but we are rewarded because our enemies do not share in our immortality. it’s fascinating bc this not only makes us become riskier as time goes on due to being rewarded (enemies defeated) for our lack of self preservation, but this also makes guardians as a whole uniquely unsuited to handle grief and loss. if you spend your whole unlife winning and thinking that if a friend dies they’ll just come right back, it’s such a shock if (or rather when) they actually do die permanently. and then that guardian has to spend the rest of their immortal, undying life remembering. they have to live with that while they watch the newer guardians flood into the tower with the same naive disposition as they once had.

i’m sure guardians know theoretically they could die permanently at any point, especially because of those like dredgen yor, but i feel like for most it’s one of those things that most would say “well that would never happen to me” until it does happen. guardians seem to just have this inability to let go and it makes me want to bite drywall because i think abt it too long and start going feral. like!! the past may be the past but it sure doesn’t feel like it when you’re immortal and you remember that shit clear as day!!! aghhhh pacing around my room in circles and eating ROCKS

i wish i could explain just how much i love painting people

it makes you really actually look at them and see how beautiful they are

the way their eyes reflect the light (my favourite thing is painting those little highlights in the eyes, it makes them feel so much more alive instantly)

all the little and not so little wrinkles telling a story of their life on this earth

those little scars they might have gotten as a kid doing dumb kid things

their smirks and their little and big smiles with all their perfect imperfections

the way the light gets caught in their eyelashes

that little highlight on the tip of their nose

all the little asymmetries

sometimes you get to stare at their eyes for a long while and you get a feeling like you can see behind them

sometimes you can see something wistful in their eyes, sometimes it's mischief, sometimes it's something else, but there's always something even when you can't tell what it is

and hair. i love painting hair. i love the way it catches the light and i love all the little wayward strands, they're my favourite to paint

and i could talk about the hands for hours but i think we can all agree that hands are beautiful anyway

i mostly paint people i don't know, but for a little bit, while I'm painting them, i feel like i get to know them a little. idk if that makes sense. and idk if that's weird xD but people can be magical and i love them

Thinking about Katara and Sokka seething over Aang and Zuko gallivanting around the South Pole penguin sledding and dancing in like nice light weight clothing because both their bending keeps them warm.

Like yes, they are probably also perceiving and lusting on spec but I would be so mad if I couldn’t wear a silly little outfit in my own home but these two dudes are like running around having acrobat time and I am in a huddle in the worlds thickest coat. I’d want those twinks dead.
