hello !! do u have any recommendations for books that demystify intelligence ? and/or historical analyses that pertain to its scientific construction ? I'm actually not picky at all, an extended reading list if you already have one available would be perfectly fine. I hope I'm being clear in my request bc English isn't my 1st language... if not, sorry
<3 bisou
for sure -- there's lots of writing about the historical context of IQ in particular, as well as other measures of 'intelligence' (binet-simon, galton, etc); there's also a lot of writing that's on specific national and regional contexts. so i'm not pulling anything close to an exhaustive list here lol but these are some i found at least somewhat helpful. im presuming you're a french speaker but if not just disregard the ones in french lol
The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould -- this is probably the no. 1 recommendation you will receive in english on this topic. it's not necessarily crucial if you've read other historical literature critiquing psychometry, but if not, it's a very solid text and is intended to be an easy entry point into the topic, so it can be a convenient place to start if you just need a leading-off point

okay, there's a LOT happening here and i need to go over it before i fucking explode
first things first, we've got these beasts or gods which seem like parallels to the ancient weapons, with the sea, sky and land (from right to left). i've got two theories about this: these are just representations of the ancient weapons as monsters or the gods that the ancient weapons are based on OR we already know one ancient weapons is actually a person. what if they were all original living beings and some got turned into monsters? especially with pluton, i'm reminded of franky's bad end from sbs 101.
references to the enel's maxim traveling to the moon. seems like someone tried that before and failed because of the ancient weapons?
this might be a bit of a stretch, but this profile looks like an elephant. specifically zunesha
another stretch, but this profile looks like imu
here, it looks like we've got people harvesting 'suns' to power a city, as well as some people with halos. this is probably the slaves and forbidden sun the text mentions, but the halo people are interesting, since we haven't seen that before.
here, we've got a group of a bunch people fighting one of the monsters. there's nika, emet, giants, minks, mermaids, dwarves, and lunarians. there are also the people on the boats which might represent different kingdoms? one looks like they have a top-knot which could be wano. there are also the people riding a whale, which seems to imply a tribe of people linked to the island whale that we haven't seen yet. and then there's the people fighting with the monster. this all seems linked to the war that happened in the void century, referenced by the middle text box.
and finally, the text box itself. i highlighted a few bits that i found most interesting, so i'll go through those:
so "within the earth" there was a "forbidden sun". this either is or is a precursor to the mother flame that vegapunk discovered/invented to create his own sun/endless energy (ch 1114). seems like maybe people in the past tried that and got punished by the sun god for it. regardless, the idea of a forbidden sun is fascinating.
then, the "earth god [...] shrouded the world in death and darkness" leading to the second world aka the void century. now, im not sure if these gods are tied to the monsters shown in mural or the ancient weapons. my guess would be they're tied to the ancient weapons with the earth god and sea god, but the forest god instead of a sky god complicates things- wait. i was going to mention that the forest god was mentioned in skypiea, along with the sun, earth and rain (sea?) god (ch 287). we also see one of their gods in kashigami, the giant snake. and one of the meanings of kashi (according to google) is oak. so it stands to reason that kashigami is the forest god. a forest god from a forest IN THE SKY. boom, we can tie it to the ancient weapon uranus, problem solved.
also, speaking of the rain god, it's the only one from skypiea not mentioned here (unless it is just a different version of the sea god since skypedia doesn't have a sea and ya know, the water cycle and all that), but there is some rain over the whale people that seems significant.
anyway, moving on to "they will never meet", which is repeated in the second world too. while i believe this references the sun god (not) meeting the other gods during these times, it also reminds me of roger mentioning that they "were just too early' (ch 968) with discovering the one piece.
then in the second world, we've got the "void" and "the fires of war", aka the void century and the great war that occurred during it.
also, i didn't highlight it, but the "forest god tamed demons" bit is also interesting. for demons, the three things i think of is the mythical devil fruits of the five elders, the giant shadowy beings from the florian triangle, or the maybeeee the horned ancient giants? my bet is on the florian triangle beings since they kinda looks like shadows cast from skypiea
then, there are "those of the half-moon [and] the moon". now, we known that one of these are the people from the sky island, from enel's cover story (ch 470 and 472). then, there are the lunarians, which given their name and wings, also come from the/a moon. now, which group is the moon or the half-moon, i don't know, but it's interesting that there are two separate moon groups.
and then, finally, we have "the sun god dances and laughs, guiding the world to its end". now, this is probably the most important bit from the whole thing. we know from saul that the third world here is the present, so this is, like, direct foreshadowing. this could be metaphorical, that luffy will end the current "world" aka the world government and usher in a new world, "a new morning". but it could be literal. i don't remember if i came up with this or if i heard it somewhere else, but i have this theory that luffy might destroy mary geoise and destroy the red line, which this line might support.
and finally, we have "and they will surely meet", echoing the last lines of the the previous two stanzas. now, in those two, "they" seem to be the gods, but that's not so in this one. of course, this leaves a lot of things that it could be but either way, luffy will meet someone who will be important the end game of this whole thing. my completely based on nothing, just pure vibes guess? that maybe, the one piece is alive.
and of course, i am very excited that franky is the one kinda front and center here, literally, so i can only hope that maybe him (and robin) will get a lot more focus in the upcoming arcs. a guy can dream.

hiii aerie, how are you?
could i ask for my usual dealer's choice between arson, mafia and angel Neil this week, please? whichever is being the nicest or got the least requests : )
thank you!! have a great week <33
WIP Wednesday (3/12) | Arsonist Neil / Firefighter Andrew AU (Part 287)
Since he got home from Kevin and Co., the card they all signed has been hanging up on his refrigerator by the note 10 had left in that gift basket last month. It's backward now, because Andrew got fed up with those stupid smug reindeer on the front. They seemed to mock his every move, the fuckers. It's too soon to ask 10 to meet up again, Andrew thinks. The man is a fucking recluse and likely needs a little while to recharge. Andrew does too, if he's honest.
Especially considering Jean's little 'get some on us' comment.
Not that he doesn't want to fuck 10. But he's never been so interested in someone and he doesn't think relying on 10's stupid exy fixation to get into his pants is exactly the start of a great romance. For fuck's sake, they've met in person once. Not that that's a real problem for Andrew, he's gotten on his knees for men he's known for minutes. But those were all horrendously casual, one-sided hook ups. 10 is something Andrew... would like to keep. And he's apparently the first person 10's ever been attracted to, if he was telling the truth. How insane is that?
Now Andrew's not stupid, he knows he can look downright decent when he puts an effort in. That's how he's landed those previously mentioned hook ups after all. But 10 actually... knows him. And likes him anyway? It's fascinating. It's also hard to understand.
So Andrew sits on the card for a few days.
The two of them keep up with their daily texts and calls in the meantime. Four days after their impromptu date, 10 asks if they can try the video chat function on his new phone so Andrew calls him and 10 shows off his hotel room. It's a lot nicer than Andrew thought it would be. Evidently he'd been picturing the arsonist in a rundown shack this entire time. But he has a bed and a chair, a small hoard of shelf stable snacks, and a large TV— optimal for exy viewing.
"You got a coloring book." Andrew comments when the camera spans the desk.
"Yeah. I haven't really done anything with it yet," 10 says, as the camera settles back on his face. "I've been playing a lot of phone games since I set this thing up. Did you know there's like a million of them?"
"Yes. What's your favorite?" Andrew asks, making 10 purse his lips and look off to the side as if trying to remember.
"Uh, I like the fruit cutting one. And the one where you have to run away from monkeys."
"Fruit Ninja and Temple Run."
"Yeah, sounds right."
"I should've guessed you'd like the running game." Andrew says, making 10 roll his eyes.
"You also have to turn and jump and dodge. It's fun. Do you play it?"
"I'm more of a Sudoku sort of man." Andrew tells him. "Sometimes Candy Crush. When I want to waste precious hours of my existence.”
"I should've guessed you'd like the candy game."
"Shut up."
"Make me." 10 dares with a roguish grin. His eyes glance down and Andrew licks his lips. Oh, he would love to make 10 shut up.
"Do you want to do something tomorrow?" Andrew asks foolishly. At 10's puzzled look, he sighs. "I mean, would you like to meet up somewhere? Maybe you could try and convince me to kiss you again.”
10 swallows and nods. "Yes. Please."
"Don't say that word to me." Andrew tells him. 10 considers that demand for a moment, then he nods.
"Okay. Yes, I want to. Where? When? What do I wear? Is anything even open tomorrow?" 10 asks.
"Why wouldn't— Oh fuck." Andrew curses. Freaking Christmas is tomorrow. He knows the Magnolia will be closed, they had a sign up announcing such the other day. The movies might be open... But Andrew is not a teenager, the idea of shoving his tongue down a man's throat in the back row is not appealing to him in the slightest. He supposes he could invite 10 over... No. Definitely not. Not yet.
"You could—" 10 cuts himself off. "Never mind. Um. I don't think it's a good idea for you to come here. Yet."
"Agreed." Andrew wracks his brain for a moment. They could get a room at a different hotel to hang out in, but that would bring a lot of expectations. If it weren't for the holiday they could meet up at one of the big box stores in town and walk around together— that's something Aaron used to do with his girlfriends in high school. (So romantic.) Andrew scribbles that off his list. Hm, while Aaron was off doing stupid shit like that, Andrew was... Aha! "Alright, I know a place. But... It's not exactly the Ritz."
"I've lived in a Toyota, Andrew. I don't need the Ritz." 10 says, a fierce look in his eyes. Andrew feels the heat of it even here. He gives 10 directions to his high school haunt, watching as the arsonist scribbles them down on his room's memo pad.
"And then you just drive until you see it. It'll be on the right." Andrew tells him. 10 nods as he writes. "You got that?"
10 reads back the directions and nods again. "Got it."
"I'll be there at two o'clock. Just a warning, I will be coming off a shift at the station."
"I know."
"Stalker. Stop having my schedule memorized."
"No. Go fix your lock." 10 counters.
"What?"
"Your chain isn't done up." 10 tells him, making Andrew turn his head to look toward the front door. 10's right.
"That isn't usually a problem."
10 rolls his eyes. "Fine, get home-invaded and axe-murdered."
"I doubt any axe-murderers are lurking in my building."
"Never know. They're more common than you think."

Prompt 12 - Pillow
@rosekillermicrofic September 12, word count 287
Previous part First Jegulus part
Barty was in serious trouble. Regulus refused to answer his calls or texts and even Evan wasn’t talking to him. He knew he’d fucked up. His mouth had got away from him again. It was like something clicked in his brain and another idiot took over. He sighed, tired of licking his self-inflicted wounds, and went to hunt Evan down. He could start his list of apologies right there.
Evan was perched on the bed, folding a load of clean clothes.
“Evan?” He said quietly as he gently pushed the door wider. Evan looked up at him and glowered.
“You swore to me, you’d let it go, but it feels like you’re pissed that Regulus is leaving you like he’s your boyfriend and not me,” Evan snarled. He’d never snapped at Barty like that before, even when Barty had properly pissed him off.
“No, Evan no, it’s not like that, I swear. It’s Sirius I have a problem with. He hasn’t once tried to reach out to Reg in the last ten years, even when we were at school the second he moved in with the Potters he washed his hands of Regulus. Reg was heartbroken, and I don’t want him to go through that again. Please, Evan, I’m just worried about him being hurt,” Evan softened and opened his arms. Barty knew an olive branch when he saw one and launched himself into Evan’s arms.
“You’ve still got a lot of making up to do, and not just to Regulus,” Evan growled into his ear. Barty shuddered when Evan nipped his earlobe with his teeth. Somehow Barty had the feeling he was going to have his face pushed into a pillow tonight, and he couldn’t wait.

I'm very sick of people arguing for this on Brambleclaw's side. Yeah, it stinks that he got lied to about the three's true heritage, but he had no right to treat her that way after the secret slipped. She did not abuse him with that lie. If anything, she and Leafpool were the ones actively being abused by the gods themselves. They cruelly lied to squirrelflight about her being sterile and that she could never have children of her own, and after shattering her dreams, they used the opportunity of her grief to coerce her into carrying children that weren't heard. She gave up everything for Leafpool; she loved her and was willing to sacrifice everything for her sister, and Brambleclaw was unbelievably cruel and unfair to her. The way he spoke to her when Lionblaze and Jayfetaher revealed the prophecy to them especially irks my nerves.
Chapter 17, page 287 [on digital copy] below

The way he jumps to verbally attack her pisses me off and acts as if she's to blame for why they hadn't told the secret. He is acting as if she isn't just as hurt as she was that the secret had been exposed. Her physical reaction says it all about how she feels about him. And he is especially hypocritical when he's trained in the dark forest without her knowledge and didn’t say anything about it. His secret was just as big as hers.

He had no right to berate her for keeping secrets and lying. It was not squirrelflight's place to reveal a secret that wasn't hers to tell. She wanted to do everything to protect her sister and her kits from being ostracized. And instead of being understanding, he takes it further to insult Leafpool by saying "she lost everything anyway" when squirrelflight tries to defend why she kept the secret from him.
they should’ve never became mates again geez
[ID: Two screenshots of text from the Warriors: The New Prophecy series.
The first screenshot reads: "Dovewing." Lionblaze pressed on. "We are destined to save the Clans from the Dark Forest."
Anger flared in Brambleclaw's eyes. "Why didn't you tell me? Was it because I'm not your true father?" He glared at Squirrelflight. "Did you know? Is that why you lied about them being your kits?"
Squirrelflight backed away, eyes widening. "No!"
Lionblaze walked between the two warriors. "None of you knew." He glanced at Leafpool. "Only Firestar and us."
The second screenshot reads: "She lost everything, anyway," Brambleclaw snarled.
"No, I didn't." Leafpool lifted her muzzle. "I watched my kits grow into fine warriors, and I still serve my Clan with all my heart."
Lionblaze felt his heart prick. Perhaps this was the truth that was most important. Leafpool had sacrificed so much and, even though her kits rejected her time and again, she'd never stopped loving them. In his darkest moments, he couldn't deny that.
"Brambleclaw, I'm sorry." Squirrelflight moved closer to the ThunderClan deputy. Her voice was stronger now, as if she was tired of being punished for something she had believed to be right. "You have to understand that I never intended to hurt you. I loved you, and was proud to raise these kits with you. You were a wonderful father."
"But I wasn't their father!" Brambleclaw hissed.
"Yes, you were!" Squirrelflight thrust her muzzle close to Brambleclaw's. Her eyes blazed. "Don't throw away everything just because you are angry with me!"
Lionblaze swallowed. "I was proud to be your son." /End ID]

Greetings! so I really like all kinds of wizarding objects in HP, like a marauder's map or a sieve. there's also popular hc that James and Sirius invented the mirror, but not for me, bc yk if they did invent it, Sirius would have mentioned it, and the map is actually a normal homunculus spell, so I like the fact that it's more that they thought of using it, and not the map itself but is still fascinating no doubt
but I wonder if there are magical inventions that you like in the HP universe? or maybe popular fanfiction trope like double-sided notebooks (protean charms)? if you were an inventor, what artifacts would you create? will it be magical copy of muggle invention or only wizard itself?
They way Sirius explains it kinda implies they didn't invent the two way mirrors actually.
This is a two-way mirror. I’ve got the other. If you need to speak to me, just say my name into it; you’ll appear in my mirror and I’ll be able to talk in yours. James and I used to use them when we were in separate detentions.
(OotP, 858)
He says this is a two-way mirror like it's something known. Like this isn't the only pair of two-way mirrors out there.
My headcanon about it is that two-way mirrors do exist in general, but they are super rare and hard to make so very few people have them. And I think James and Sirius did make this pair of mirrors. Like, they didn't invent the concept, but they did make these specific ones. At least, in my head.
I also think the Mauraders Map is made with more than just a Homonculus Charm. It has a pretty complex Maapping Charm and as I mentioned in the past, I think the Mauraders Map actually has a bit of the consciousness of the Mauraders, like portraits in HP because of how it reacts to Snape calling himself a professor:
“Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became a professor.”
(PoA, 287)
This line implies it's not just a charm that makes them insult: "Professor Severus Snape" because that's how he introduced himself. It shows intelligence. That the map doesn't just have built-in insults with a gap for [your name]. This is an insult that is actually responsive and suggests sentience.
One of my personal favorite magical artifacts, if we're talking sentient artifacts are portraits.
I just find the magical portraits we see fascinating. It's like, a whole other level of leaving something from yourself after you die and I find myself disappointed Harry never encountered a Potter portrait. I mean, I'm sure Henry Potter (a pretty famous member of the Wizengamot back in the day), or his son Fleamont, the inventor of Sleekeazy's Potion have portraits somewhere. Like, James and Lily died young and I understand how they might've not sat down for portraits, but there's a whole Potter family out there that Harry could hear from. Grandparents and great-grandparents. Maybe even Iolanthe Potter (nee Peverell) has a portrait lying around somewhere (wherever Potter's manor is). Like, think how cool it could've been if in Deathly Hallows they learned about the Deathly Hallows from her. For Harry to have a little chance to connect to his family. (though she would have no clue where the Elder Wand traveled, so you could still keep Xenophilius in the book).
If I had to choose one magical artifact to invent... I guess it'll be either:
1. I guess an instant messaging system, like sending texts on your phone. Owls, as aesthetic as they are, are not very tactical for quick communication. It'll probably function like a more sophisticated version of the DA coins. And it wouldn't really look like a phone, so it could be marketable for wizards. The most difficult part would be to allow the Protean Charm to work for different artifacts.
Like, my best idea is like a magical phone book (but not really). Where each page connects to someone else. And it's like a small binder, so you could add and remove pages at will. Once you read something, the messages disappear from the page, allowing you to write more.
(This binder format also allows you to accidentally write to the wrong people, which I think is fun. Basically, this is how I'd do the fanon double-sided notebook concept. Though I don't think it exists in universe)
2. The thing I'd really like to invent and would probably be easier to do, is a search engine (though it'll be a spell more than an artifact). Now, I don't mean exactly like Google, what I mean is that, say, you walk into the Hogwarts Library and you could cast "accio books written in the 15th century about gnomes," and all these books that fit that description would fly at you. Except, instead of flying at you, they'd just glow or something (because a large amount of books flying at you could end up not great).
The reason I'm saying that's more easy is because I think accio could do this. I mean, "accio firebolt" works, so why not "accio books about dragons", you know?
"Accio" literally translates to "fetch" in Latin, so for my search engine spell, it would probably be something like "Reperio", which means "find" or "detect" (I like it because it would be confusing with "Reparo" and "Revelio").
But that's not really an artifact and more of a spell, but, still, I like this idea.
Honestly, I make up a lot of spells when writing fic sometimes. Because there are spells that are implied to exist but we aren't shown them (Arthur Weasley mentions Weather Charms once) or charms that are likely to exist because they fit in universe but we don't really know, so I just come up with an incantation for them.
What I'm saying is that I come up with charms and rituals more than artifacts.

The Kindest Power: How Midoriya might save Tenko
Originally, this post was supposed to be a response to another post about 411 (Yes, I'm late), about why Yoichi might be oddly calm when Shinomori was stolen. This post itself was also going to be more of a continuation of my previous post about the true nature of One For All and All For One.
But while thinking of this post, I may have went into a deep rabbit hole and uncovered the ending of My Hero Academia, how Midoriya might save Tenko and defeat All For One.
Okay, so buckle your seatbelts, this might be one of the craziest theories yet-
The other post by @shiroforest in which this post was going to be a response to was actually more of a DFO post. The usual, Yoichi hiding a secret that Midoriya has AFO or something.
I'd like to say that they may have been right. Well, half right. Midoriya DOES have All For One. Not in the way you might think.
One For All IS the same as All For One. I made this post all about this subject, that Yoichi and AFO were most likely identical twins, and since quirks are genetic, they were supposed to have the same quirk. But due to TTTS, Yoichi's quirk couldnt develop properly, thus manifesting differently from All For One
ThIs seems to have aged really well in the following chapter:

Essentially, Yoichi's quirk was just a half-baked version of All For One. It also explains why it was able to merge easily with an entirely different quirk (Stockpile). Since Yoichi's quirk was half-baked and incomplete, it was much easier for it to adapt and merge into another quirk entirely (If Yoichi's quirk was fully formed, it would've stayed seperate)
Okay, so OFA was AFO but incomplete. How does this factor in with that panel of Yoichi, or MHA's endgame?
Well, it was incomplete.

This started changing 200 chapters ago. Where, according to Banjo, it started growing. The metaphor used is very interesting now we know OFA's circumstances.

Apparently in the original Japanese text, the metaphor used is just like an unborn child, growing and kicking in the womb.
And we know that OFA was underdeveloped because Yoichi was deprived of the nutrients to fully mature before birth.
OFA, from the beginning of Ch 193, has actually resumed its development process. Finishing off where it left off, and started growing as it matured.
The time it made contact with All For One in ch 287 must've quickened the process. After that event, the OFA Users managed to finally come out and communicate with Midoriya directly.
Remember what I said about how OFA was supposed to be the same as AFO, just halted during the development process?
Yes, you heard me right.
Midoriya and Shigaraki are fighting with the same quirk right now.
Horikoshi likes to put double meaning in his panels. If a speech bubble is displayed on an unrelated character, that means Horikoshi wants us to see a connection with what's being said to this other character

Yoichi is looking at his hand, which is actually also the exact same hand in which he passed on OFA to Kudo before his death. His power of giving, juxtaposed with the mention of the power of stealing by En.
There is a chance that Yoichi might've been thinking about what to do with the situation, he could be thinking of taking Shinomori back, or just speculating about what he can really do. Either way, it's actually foreshadowing. That Yoichi might be able to take just as much as give.
Perhaps, at this point of the story, One For All is already fully complete. Because Midoriya can now seemingly just throw or give away the quirks stored in OFA the exact same way AFO can give away quirks in his disposal as of the newest chapter, ch 413. Without the old complicated process beforehand of consuming DNA or something. (Watch this age horribly next chapter, but I think that's what will happen)
The only thing that's missing now is the trigger. All thats left is for Midoriya to instinctively think of "taking" to trigger the ability at this point.
But what would trigger Midoriya into taking?
Perhaps, to save a life.

I think it's clear that Horikoshi is currently using quirks as a representation for a person's heart and soul. After all, they are also called "individuality".
Even though AFO uses his power in cruel ways, Yoichi says that the power to "give and take" could have been the "kindest" power in the whole world. He's referring to both here, "taking" can be just as kind as "giving".

Maybe this power can save just as much as destroy.
As of Ch 413, Kudo makes a plan with Midoriya to basically fire OFA's quirks at Shigaraki to free Tenko Shimura, the child.
But what happens when Tenko is free? There is a chance he might be vulnerable to AFO (his abuser) and Tomura Shigaraki (the two are constantly seperated in the narrative)
Both might want to destroy Tenko, especially the former. Midoriya, out of desperation to try and save the crying child, might unlock OFA's "taking" ability, getting the child away from AFO's grasp. This probs has to happen right before Midoriya gets ready to throw One For All.
I think this might also be the part where the door of OFA gets unlocked. It's a back-door, a way in and out. The hand in which Tomura grabbed the Shinomori was OVER where the door is supposed to be.

When Midoriya unlocks the ability to take, the door might be opened in which Midoriya and maybe even Yoichi save Tenko and bring him into the OFA space.
Rather than a forceful "take" like AFO does, it's presented as a choice. Tenko is given the choice in which he can come with Midoriya or stay where he is now. Because saving is a two way street.
Since heart = quirk, having Tenko might also take away Decay, which would also prevent the incoming mass destruction.
(Make this more heartbreaking if Nana was already taken at this point by AFO, and she's the one trying to protect Tenko long enough till Midoriya and Yoichi take him away. They also try to save Nana but are unable to, Nana apologising for not being there for Tenko and asks them to take care of her grandson, argghhh-)
Here's a scenario of how I think it might all go down:
When Tenko is saved, this leaves Midoriya vs AFO and Tomura, desperate to get Decay back and OFA. Midoriya desperately tries to defend Tenko. Tenko, now in the OFA space, sees Midoriya's genuine desire to protect him, something he was desperate wished for.
This eventually fails, and ShigarAFO gets the opportunity to steal OFA and Tenko a few times, perhaps losing the remaining vestiges until only Yoichi and Tenko are left. Finally having enough, Tenko ends up intervening, and decays the hand that was reaching into the OFA space.
Its a perfect callback to the times Midoriya has saved before. Not only does Midoriya save people no matter what, his actions would in turn also inspire others to act too. He saved Eri, and so her power later saved him. He saved Kota, and Kota then used his quirk to protect Midoriya. It's perfect, because Tenko Shimura is the combination of both characters.
Remember how the quirks in OFA were enhanced due to stockpile?
Tenko, while defending Midoriya and OFA, also ends up decaying a portion of AFO's quirks as a result of being enhanced by OFA.
So this leads to Tenko suggesting he goes back in there to destroy AFO and his quirks from within.
Yoichi is unsure at first, since Star also tried the same thing, she eventually got destroyed before she managed to destroy all the other quirks. So the only way for Tenko to be successful is for OFA to go with him, so it could be strong enough to destroy it all at once before Tenko is destroyed.
This could also lead to OFA being destroyed too, Yoichi holding back his brother long enough when only OFA and AFO are what's left to keep him away from Tenko, allowing him to finish it all off once and for all. There's a good chance Tenko won't make it out either. In a sense, Tenko Shimura fulfills his dream that he was denied of all his life and dies a hero.
This is the big moment in which Midoriya has to prove whether he is the same as those in Tenko's family (denying him), or be someone who can finally give him the words that he always yearned for, the validation that "You can be a hero".
Midoriya's final test is letting someone go.

Maybe this isnt just the closure Tenko needs, but for all three of them (Yoichi, Midoriya, Tenko). These three were the ones denied of becoming heroes one way or another, finally being given the chance.
It's a triple sacrifice.
Horikoshi planned this from the start, Ch 193 and onwards were all build up towards this very moment. Bakugo noting that OFA being the same as AFO almost 200 chapters wasn't just some observation or symbolic parallel, it was set up. Because the two are one and the same, and it's the very key to Midoriya's goal in saving Tenko Shimura.
I know, some might not agree, it might even be controversial because of how similar this is to AFO, but I'd like to say that it might not be like that.
A big theme in MHA is how one's quirk, personality, or nature isn't all that makes a person a villain or a hero, it's also the nurture and how they use it. A power used for "destruction" can also be used for "salvation". The power that can be used in the most cruellest ways can also be the kindest. This applies to both All For One (in the form of One For All) and Tenko's decay.
I don't know, what do you think? Crazy? I would agree that Horikoshi is crazy if this happens to be accurate-

EOA1 - Statistics!
Since Homestuck is a multimedia experience, I put together a cheat sheet on my favorite website Google Sheets to track things like point of view characters, [S] pages, pesterlogs, interactivity, And Maybe More. So I have some cool stats to share for the first act!
Act 1 ran for 247 pages published across 56 days, 47 of which had an update. This averages 4.4 pages per day (5.3 on update days). April 13, 2009 (Day 1) had the most pages in a single day with 16 (6.5%).
177 pages contained narrative text (71.7%) while 70 pages were image or animation only (28.3%). 205 pages contained a command in the title (83.0%). Of these, 155 commands were to John (75.6%), 42 were to Rose (20.5%) and 8 were to the reader (3.9%). Of all pages, John was the perspective character in 186 (75.3%), Rose in 51 (20.6%), the reader in 9 (3.6%) and Dad in one (0.4%).
There were 30 pesterlogs on 28 pages (11.3% of pages). John appeared in 25 pesterlogs, Rose in 22, TG in 5 and GG in 2. 6 pesterlogs went unanswered (5 by John and one by Rose).
There were 295 images and animations in total, with 47 pages containing two or more images (19.0%) - p.106 is the only page to contain three images. 287 of these were still images or brief animations, 4 were complex animations (p.82, 88, 137, 246) and 4 were interactive (p.30, 90, 110, 138).
Nine pages contained sound [S] (3.6%) and there were six original music tracks worked on by six artists, with two variations of both Showtime and Harlequin.
In universe, Act 1 began on April 13, 2009 at ~4:00-4.10pm in John’s timezone (~6 or 7pm in Rose’s) - we first see the time, 4:13pm, on p.24. Act 1 ended at ~5:38pm in John’s timezone (7:38 or 8:38pm in Rose’s) - we last see the time, 5:34pm, on p.204 at which point the meteor countdown is already underway. The time elapsed in the narrative is around an hour and a half (0.11% of the real, out of universe time).
#STAT I CHEATED AND LOOKED UP: Act 1 is around 12500 words (including words in images/animation)#homestuck#milestone#eoa1#chrono

The soft glow of morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm embrace over the room. Beatrice relished these moments of quiet solitude before the demands of the day unfolded. She sat up in bed, the oversized shirt enveloping her like a comforting cocoon,a cocoon that smelled like Rooster.
A faint smile played on her lips as she surveyed the room, the remnants of Rooster's presence embedded in every corner: a framed photo captured a candid moment of them laughing on a lazy Sunday afternoon, one of the first pictures they took together after getting married.
A half-empty bottle of cologne stood proudly on top of the bathroom sink, its scent lingering in the air like a trace of his essence. Next to it was a small shaving cream and razor, she always made sure to check if it was standing still on the little stand.
Beatrice swung her legs off the bed, the cool floor meeting the warmth of her bare feet. She padded over to the bathroom, the door creaking softly as she pushed it open. The sight of Rooster's toothbrush next to hers brought a soft smile to her face. She reached for her toothpaste, and looked back at the shower stall.
The shower curtain hung loosely, the scent of his preferred body wash lingering in the air even with him being gone for almost a month now. A single towel on the hook, his favorite, was there, clean, of course because…he could come back earlier. She spits the toothpaste off and rubs her eyes before going back to the bedroom.
A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees as she opened the curtains, the sky was that shade of pastel pink and baby lilac she adored so much.
As she stood by the window, a soft ping echoed through the room. Beatrice turned to see her phone lighting up with a message. She knew it was a text from Rooster, a simple "Good morning, love" accompanied by a heart emoji was seen when she picked it up. She couldn't help but smile, typing back a response, “Good night to you, handsome.”
Roos (06:01)
Wish me luck? We’ll leave in a few hours to do the mission.
Beatrice's fingers danced over the phone's screen as she crafted her response.
Bea (06:03)
Luck is on your side, always, Roos. Come back to me safely.
She hit send, her eyes lingering on the screen as if the words could magically reach him faster. The anticipation of each mission never lessened, and the distance between them during these times seemed to stretch indefinitely. She took a deep breath, reminding herself of the routine she'd cultivated to manage the ache of his absence.
With a glance at the clock, she realized she had a few hours before her own mission started. Soon the kids would wake up and she’d have t– there was someone downstairs. She pauses, going immediately still as she hears something falling on the ground. Beatrice headed downstairs, with Jolene right behind her, why wasn’t Eleanor barking if there was an intruder???
Oh my god.
What if they hurt Eleanor??
She grabs an umbrella on the way down, the sudden ‘i must protect my cubs’ feeling came strong and Beatrice chewed on her lower lip. Beatrice felt a knot forming in her stomach. The soft padding of her footsteps on the hardwood floor seemed to echo in the otherwise silent house. As she reached the bottom of the staircase, she hesitated for a moment, listening intently.
Another sound, a muffled clatter, reached her ears, and her instincts kicked in. She moved quietly, taking measured steps towards the kitchen. The familiar scent of coffee lingered in the air, but it was accompanied by an unfamiliar presence. Beatrice's mind raced through the possibilities, each one more unsettling than the last.
She hated being anxious.
Beatrice tightened her grip on the umbrella, her pulse quickening with each step. As she entered the kitchen, her eyes widened at the sight before her. Shells stood there, a sheepish grin on her face, holding a bag of spilled groceries.
"Shells! What the hell are you doing here?" Beatrice exclaimed, a mix of relief and irritation flooding her.
Shells looked up, eyes widening at the sight of Beatrice wielding an umbrella like a weapon. "Whoa, Bea, it's just me! Easy with the umbrella!"
Beatrice blinked, realizing the absurdity of her defensive stance. She lowered the umbrella, furrowing her brows "Shells, you scared the life out of me! Why didn't you just ring the doorbell?"
Shells chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her head. "Uh, I didn't want to wake the kids. You know how they nap."
“Yeah! Because it's six in the morning Shells!”
Shells flashed an apologetic smile. "Sorry, Bea. I didn't think you'd go all ninja warrior on me. I was just trying to surprise you."
Beatrice took a deep breath, the adrenaline slowly subsiding. "Surprise me? At six in the morning with an uninvited entrance? What happened to 'hey, I'm coming over'?"
Shells shrugged, still grinning. "I thought it'd be more fun this way. Besides, I brought breakfast."
Beatrice looked at the spilled groceries and sighed. "Breakfast is on the floor, Shells."
"Yeah, about that..." Shells crouched down to collect the fallen items, her sheepish expression turning into a grin again. "I may have tripped on your welcome mat. It's more of a trip hazard than I thought."
Beatrice rolled her eyes, her initial fear giving way to annoyance. "Breakfast is not supposed to be a surprise attack, Shells. And since when do you bring groceries?"
Shells straightened up, holding the bag triumphantly. "Since today! I figured I'd treat you to a surprise breakfast. You know, to lighten the mood with Rooster away on a mission."
Beatrice sighed, her irritation softening into a smile. Shells, despite her unconventional entrance, meant well. "Well, thanks for the thought, but I hope you brought more than what's on the floor."
Shells grinned, pointing at the bag. "Fear not, babes. I've got eggs, bacon, and all the essentials for a breakfast feast. I'll even clean up the mess. Consider it an apology for the unintentional scare."
Beatrice couldn't help but laugh at Shells' antics. "You're lucky I didn't hit you with the umbrella.” she says, nodding at the closed accessory, “Also, since when do you cook?"
Shells feigned offense, placing a hand over her heart. "Bea, I'm wounded! I'll have you know that I've been watching cooking shows lately. I'm practically a culinary genius now."
"Cooking shows make you a genius? Well, if you say so. Just don't burn down my kitchen."
Shells mock saluted. "No promises, but I'll do my best, Captain."
As they set about salvaging the groceries and preparing breakfast, the tension that had gripped Beatrice began to ease. The early morning scare morphed into a lighthearted exchange, and Shells' infectious energy had a way of melting away anxieties.
"So, spill it, Shells. What's the real reason for this surprise breakfast?" Beatrice asked, sitting on her chair with her eyes noticing Eleanor chewing on a nice treat outside, “Also, did you give Eleanor a treat so she didn’t bark?”
“Yep."
Beatrice raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips. "Well, that’s fine–”
Shells nodded, her expression turning serious. "I also lost sleep and couldn’t really call aunt Penny so.”
“Oh."
“Yeah…”
“...You..never complained about nightmares.”
Shells sighed, her gaze dropping to the pan as she cooked. "It's just... I had a rough night. Couldn't shake them off, you know?"
“Care to share, or is it classified information?"
Shells chuckled, but it held a touch of vulnerability. "Maybe a bit classified, but you know how it is. The usual stuff."
Beatrice nodded, sympathy etched across her features. "Yeah, I get it. Is it…does it have to do with your m-."
“Nah I never dream about her.”Shells glanced up,lips pursed “She’s dead so, what do I care? No this one was…I guess it’s the overall stress, you know? With the bar and all.”
"I'm sorry you had a rough night. Stress does crazy things to our minds, especially when you're dealing with a lot."
"Yeah," Shells replied, the sizzle of bacon filling the air as she focused on the cooking. "I just needed a change of scenery, you know? And what better way to change things up than surprising you with breakfast?"
Beatrice smiled, appreciating Shells' attempt to lighten the mood. "Well, I appreciate the effort. And for the record, you're not allowed to lose sleep over nightmares without telling me. We're in this together, remember?"
Shells grinned, flipping the bacon with practiced ease. "Got it, babes. No more solo missions into the realm of bad dreams. I'll inform you in advance next time."
As the aroma of breakfast filled the kitchen, Shells set the table with a mismatched collection of plates and utensils. Beatrice couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for her friend's spontaneous gesture. In the midst of the chaos surrounding Rooster's mission and the uncertainties with Mark and Miranda, Shells' presence brought a much-needed moment of peace.
They sat down to eat, the bacon crispy, the eggs perfectly scrambled, and the toast buttered to perfection. Shells raised her fork in a mock salute. "To surprise breakfasts and conquering the nightmares."
Beatrice clinked her fork against Shells', a smile playing on her lips. "To unexpected rescues and facing the unknown together."
-
Was he surprised the mission was a success?
No.
Was he surprised that Mark was acting weird?
Also no.
The adrenaline that had fueled their dogfight began to ebb away, leaving them with the tangible weight of fatigue. Rooster, standing by his jet, surveyed the tarmac as ground crews worked efficiently to refuel and inspect the fighter planes.
Mark lingered nearby, his posture tense and shoulders squared. Rooster observed him discreetly, noting the way other pilots seemed to avoid direct interaction with him. It was as if an invisible barrier surrounded Mark, isolating him from the everyone else.
Rooster decided to approach, his steps deliberate and his expression neutral. As he neared, Mark glanced up, meeting Rooster's gaze with a guarded look.
"Good work out there, Mark," Rooster acknowledged, his tone even. "The mission was a success."
Mark's response was a curt nod, his eyes flitting away. "Just doing my part."
Rooster furrowed his brow. "Is there something on your mind, Mark?"
Mark hesitated, his jaw tight. "Nothing, sir. Just focused on the mission, that's all."
Rooster regarded him for a moment, weighing the words. "Mark, we're a team. If there's anything you need to talk about—"
"I appreciate the sentiment, Rooster, but I've got it under control," Mark interjected, his tone firm. "No need to worry."
Rooster's gaze lingered, a sense of unease settling in. He decided to press further, despite Mark's resistance. "I've noticed some tension among the recruits. Is everything okay on your end?"
Mark's eyes narrowed, a flicker of defensiveness crossing his face. "Recruits come and go. It's the nature of the job."
Oh.
Rooster’s eyes darkened immediately.
“...How so,Mark?”
Mark's jaw tightened, and a hint of frustration flashed in his eyes. "They're inexperienced. They slow us down. We have to pick up the slack, cover for their mistakes. It's like babysitting sometimes."
Rooster's expression remained steady, though the tension in the air thickened. "Well Mark, they're part of the squadron. We work as a team, and that means supporting each other, especially when someone is still learning the ropes."
Mark scoffed, a bitter edge to his voice. "Supporting them doesn't mean coddling them, Rooster. We have a standard to uphold, and if they can't meet it, they shouldn't be here."
"Training and mentoring are part of leadership, Mark. It's not about lowering standards but helping others rise to meet them. That's how we become a stronger, more cohesive unit."
Mark's gaze hardened, the resentment beneath the surface becoming more apparent. "Maybe some of us don't have the luxury of time for mentorship, Rooster. Maybe some of us have more pressing matters to attend to."
Rooster's eyes narrowed slightly. "What are you getting at, Mark?"
Mark hesitated, as if contemplating whether to reveal more. “I-I…” Roosted flicked his eyebrow and the other pilot gulped, all the bravado disappearing, “Just…the breach and all,we are all…o-on edge.”
Rooster regarded Mark with a scrutinizing gaze. The mention of the breach seemed to hang heavily between them, an unspoken understanding that there might be more beneath the surface.
Rooster decided to tread carefully, not wanting to escalate the tension further.
"The breach has everyone on edge, Mark. I get that," Rooster replied, his voice measured. "But we don’t go letting your anger out on the recruits." he knew it wasn’t that, he knew what McAllister told him was true.
Mark's shoulders tensed, and for a moment, it seemed like he might say something more. However, he bit back the words, his expression hardening once again. "Okay,uh, thank you, Rooster."
“Mhm.”
“A-Are you going to talk to Vice-Admiral Simpson?”
“I might.” Rooster whispered, “He has to know about the mission, right?”
Mark shifted uncomfortably, a glimmer of uncertainty in his eyes. "I suppose. But I'm sure he's already aware of everything. We did accomplish the mission, after all."
"Accomplishing the mission is part of the job, Mark. But I'm also concerned about the internal dynamics within the squadron. We need trust and cohesion to operate effectively."
Mark's jaw clenched, the frustration evident. "I'm doing my job, Rooster. Don't question my dedication."
"I'm not questioning your dedication, Mark. I'm questioning your approach. We need unity, especially now with the breach. If there's something you're not telling me, I need to know."
Mark's eyes flashed with a mix of anger and reluctance. "I told you, Rooster. I've got it under control."
Rooster's expression remained steadfast. "I'll take that as a temporary answer. But if whatever you're dealing with starts affecting the squadron, it becomes my concern."
With that, Rooster turned away, leaving Mark standing with a storm of emotions brewing within him.
He had to figure this shit out.
Now.
